Althought in Minecraft the only way to fly is via elytra, most of the hermits have either found a replacement or a way to personalize it, even if its accidental.

Grian's wings are part of his body, and changes every season. Right now, he's got gargoyle like wings, which, admittely, make flying tougher, being made of stone.

Mumbo has a redstone powered jetpack that sometimes turns into a watch and sometimes into a blender. He's still figuring out why.

Scar has mechanical wings that turn into a wheelchair, but he dies so much that they're surgically connected to its spine, so he doesn't loose them.

Iskall has slime boots that he ilegally trafficated to Hermitcraft from the modded worlds. Everytime he doesn't want to do something for Stress, she threatens with telling Xisuma.

That argument has become even more effective now that Xisuma has lanky rattling femures forming monstruos wings going out of his skeletal armor. Most of the time he uses them to prepare tea while he works on his redstone, like some kind of boney octopus.

My favorite song is All There Is by Mighty Inconvenient (she is a close friend of mine!) I'd say she's also my favorite band, but that probably counts as bias so I will go with Starset or Hollywood Undead.

My favorite games are Stardew Valley, Minecraft, and Death's Door

My favorite food is technically roast beef and cheddar sandwiches, but cheeseburgers are a very close second and more convenient. Snack wise, I love kettle chips or pockey, and drink wise I'm rather plain. I just like cold water.

Skulk!Veri / 'Skulk friend' mob idea

If Veri were a minecraft mob, I feel like they'd be a skulk mob of some sort.

I don't know how to code, but y'all should know the drill by now I come up with mod ideas and then flesh them out anyway for fun ;D;

In lore, the role of the skulk friend would be an 'early game unit' for skulk that is cheaper than the warden, but is weaker and targets weaker prey. It would NOT be immune to lava or arrows, would have health more comparable to a player, and would deal damage more in the range of a wolf. Hence it spawning more often in smaller skulk biomes, and less in larger ones that have more resources to allocate to spawning superior units like the warden.

The vibes of the 'skulk friend' would be an intelligent companion that feels somewhere in between a player and a mob. Kind of octopus vibes, in that it's clearly edging onto sophonce (and would probably be considered so outright were it to live long enough - now that I think about it, the skulk friend would probably despawn when idle for too long by burrowing away much like the warden does, when not tamed), but is still at the 'clever animal' part of the tech tree. Which, the considering the lore of the original Veri, checks out pretty well.

(OG Veri is a tentacle monster wearing a furry disguise, with a non-human/non-neurotypical way of perceiving and thinking,,, which please note I say this as an ND person myself- Veri is a character designed to be relatable to those who do not relate to humanity. Very Voidpunk vibes. Also, OG Veri is outright sophont, but I figure it's a bit awkward to have a minecraft mob talk to you, especially if it is a species that is not known to build societies. hence Skulk Veri/Skulk Friend does not talk, but it still behaves in ways that imply intelligence. Maybe if it does become a mod, I'll make it be able to place blocks when given them, to help the player build- kinda filling in frames. That would probably also require insanely complex AI though. I'd consider letting it break blocks when supplied with a pickaxe, but I wouldn't want people to just tame like 50 of them and use them as mining slaves; I want it to feel like a friend that accompanies you because let's be real, I just want to have Veri following me around in minecraft)

The idea could also be expanded into some sort of Don't Starve Together 'faction' sort of concept, wherein you intentionally feed/help the skulk and ally with it, but that is a whole other topic.

Seeing as this is based on a treasured personal OC of mine, please don't make this into a mod without my permission and oversight!

Cool as that would be I am kind of a little more protective of Veri than some of my other characters.

Anyway, not really related to any of that, but I'm booting up minecraft and it's like man... all the market place stuff, it's just... no thanks man, I got mods and more broadly speaking I got java edition (java is such an awful version in every way except for the part where it's the best, ie it runs like ass a lot of the time, but the customizability can't be beat and also my redstone door wouldn't work on bedrock)

"Buy skins!"... I can find skins online or even make my own

"Here's a lion or an octopus or maybe some weird colored tnt(?)", yeah, I know what mods are and while they may be a pain... I can totally track stuff down and get things working

Java is janky as hell. Mods are kinda broken messes... I think if microsoft didn't have a conflict of interest where as I'm noting this directly competes with a money maker, they might actually improve modability (I think the reason they don't try to kill it is understanding people would riot)

Modding sucks with stuff like... still want to make some kind of winter village (maybe whenever I get a new computer and can turn this into a server box), and the Fairylights mod is... it's non negotiable, it's half the point of it

...I haven't kept up to date on what version the dev has that on... I don't even know for sure if they're still supporting it. Modding is a pain in the ass, it's just also infintiely better than the alternatives

I just like having control over my games and how I run them and... minecraft's at the real intersection on that stuff

I own my world (it's on my computer, not a microsoft server), but I don't own my account (someday I'd like to figure out how to run a server where it's all whitelist and no one needs an account... just on principal about owning games... just hasn't been worth it yet)

You can kinda do anything with java edition so long as you can figure out how to do it, but it'll be a pain and a hassle and even logging into a modpack can be a pain cause... you need a launcher for the client, you can't just launch it... it's literally easier for me to launch a server than it is for me to boot up either my vanilla or my modded client to do single player... and that's messed up to me

(The server I literally just double click "Server Start.bat" which tells it how much memory it can use and... done. My client I have to boot a launcher and then microsoft has to agree that I'm allowed to play)

Love minecraft, hate microsoft, mojang was never perfect though the literally encouraged piracy and that's literally how I got into minecraft was with a pirated copy

I love owning my worlds by having them saved to my computer, but I hate not owning the ability to play minecraft (This is a big problem with stuff like steam too, to be clear. You don't own a single game on there either, they could take any of it away at any time and... they have from windows 7 users for the crime of running an old OS. You only own it if it's on your own harddrive with no DRM... which my server is, my client isn't)

I think the simplest way to resolve the sheep genetics would be as follows

check if the sheep is light grey (wwwk) or magenta (rrbw)

if it is, the phenotype is that

if it is not, then randomly select two of the four chromosomes (there are six configurations possible here, as we do not care what order they are in)

determine phenotype based on selection

this does mean that a RRYY sheep will not always be orange. Two out of three times, it will. But it will also have a 1/6 chance of being red, and an equal chance of being yellow.

does this extremely simplify the complex thing that is genetics? yes. is it also extremely more possible to code? also yes

Ideas for stuff to be added to MineCraft: (without MODS.)

Wagons and Carts that can be pulled by mobs (like attaching a lead to the animal and to the cart/wagon and using a carrot on a stick to lead them) - they would also have chests in them for or storage and maybe the bigger carts can have beds?

Chandeliers (using iron bars and torches to craft) - they hang from the ceiling and provide as much light as a sea lantern but only take up 1 block of space so you don't have to struggle with fences or iron bars to make a 4x3 light source that looks nothing like a chandelier

Instruments (like little drums or chimes) that are crafted with CDs

Customizable paintings (like banners but more versatile) (they can be customized through a menu that looks like the mapping table, but you place blocks in the center of it to make the painting)

Elephants as natural mobs that travel around to villages with chests on their backs or objects in their trunks (they could bring stuff like wheat, hay bales, etc.) That can also be ridden with a saddle

CORN. Naturally spawning corn fields. Corn can fill about 2.4 hunger points. You can breed some mobs with corn

Starfish that move depending on the sun (they go towards a higher elevation at night and lower in the morning) - They can be crafted into a pair of boots that gives you depth strider. They're also colorful

DYABLE FLOWER POTS. Can we PLEASE dye our boring terracotta-looking flower pots???

Glass panes that sit on the very edge of the block instead of in the middle, like trapdoors

OcToPuS!!! Smart mobs that take objects from players in boats!! They can operate buttons/levers. They are also colorful.

Birds other than parrots. Seagulls that specifically take food from people. Crows that roost on the ceilings of houses and drop little objects when players give them meat and seeds. Eagles that can be tamed and hunt rabbits. Vultures that swoop in and take mob drops from players who kill mobs.

Vampires that turn into bats during day and hide in caves. They go after players at night like Phantoms and take a few hearts. They sometimes live in witch huts.

The pillagers are mean, can we make a survival option in a difficult mode without them? I hate how I start living in a village right at the start only to be killed by those guys after a little while.

Broken bones as a mob drop from skeletons that can be crafted into bone spears that have the same damage as iron swords. They are thrown like trident and have a 1 in 10 chance of giving the target wither (if it's from a wither skeleton)
