I started my story as Temenos and then grabbed Osvald. There’s something really funny to me about poor Osvald waking up to Temenos who exudes such bastard energy after being thru so much bad luck

Tragic Ships Tournament Round 1
Capvers picture done by @charlotte-fleming. knightlight picture done by me sorry guys couldn't find any pics
Propaganda under the cut!
Capvers:
"One half died holding hands with the other after finally being reunited and they never got to say I love you to each other. Your faves could never"
Knightlight:
"So for starters Temenos calls him "mon cher Crick"(my dear Crick) in French and both "mi fiel Crick"(my faithful Crick) and "Querido Crick"(Dear Crick) in Spanish, which is already incredible. English tends to stick with "little lamb" because Crick needed guidance to find the cathedral, but it's often more to the tune of "my little lamb", almost to compliment Temenos's own title of the "pontiff's hound" in the eyes of the Sacred Guard. The fact that he has such brazenly affectionate nicknames for Crick despite barely knowing him is evident of just how close they managed to get in such a short time while investigating murders together.
Temenos isn't the type to trust easily. He doesn't have faith in others and he doesn't have faith in the very church he's supposed to represent or the gods he's been taught to worship. Crick, by contrast, does believe in the gods and the people around him, right up until meeting Temenos. His faith begins to waver and yet in turn, Temenos begins to trust. They're going to have each other's backs in this hunt for the truth. The fact that Crick is even willing to say something like "I… I wish to believe in the gods. As I wish to believe in you" considering where he started is insane. Temenos considers him a friend and frankly DOES believe in Crick's abilities. They're going to solve this mystery together. Tomorrow, after Crick gets some rest. Crick turns up dead the next morning and Temenos changes. He's not the violent type. Fighting isn't his thing, really. Why kill when you can just interrogate? But now he has lost his brother, his father, and his friend. He has lost faith in the church, and the one who had faith in him. He who once guided the lost lamb to the cathedral on the hill must now follow his spirit into the depths of the ice. He has lost, and lost, and lost, and the one responsible has the gall to taunt him about it. And Temenos spills blood."

One of my favourite moments in Octopath Traveler II that I don’t see anyone talking about is the approach to Stormhail.
First, though the game is open world, things like danger levels and character stories are likely to lead a player to Stormhail at a certain point. It is the lowest danger-leveled third-tier city (rather, the surrounding area has the lowest danger level of any third-tier city) housing three characters’ penultimate stories rather than anyone’s final story, but it still has a higher danger level than any other second-tier city by a considerable amount, and the three penultimate chapters it hosts are the three with the highest danger level. Therefore, it is likely to be the player’s introduction to late-game Octopath, to all of the pieces falling together, to the part where all of the Chekhov’s guns the story has created finally start firing.
And what an introduction it is! The city of Stormhail had been extremely hyped up throughout the game beforehand. Massoud’s mercantile manuscripts discuss the great kingdom of Delstadt that once stood high in the Winterlands, and the massive wall they constructed around the city, and how Stormhail is what remains of this great kingdom. One of the tomes missing from the Montwise library is of this legendary Great Wall. The Godsblades are based here. Glacis, likely to be the last of the beasts Ochette hunts but still on the map from the start, calls this place her home. Exploring near Montwise reveals that Stormhail is so intense that it’s only entrance is guarded. All this information is given well before the player gets to Stormhail.
And then the time comes for the actual approach. Once the guard is slain, the player first must navigate a great abandoned mine. In silence. Nothing but the echo of their character’s footsteps. Perhaps they will run into monsters, and assuming this is their first third-tier experience, they will hear the new, final, most dramatic regular battle music. It’s all so tense.
Then the player finally breaks free of the mine, and from a vantage point atop a snowy hill, they get to witness the absolute beautiful glory of the Stormhail wall, e captured brilliantly in HD-2D, illuminated by a blue and ever-falling snow, as vast and as imposing as the as the stories.
Like, WOW. I had to put my controller down and just embrace the beauty of this moment when I was playing.

For the "secrets" prompt, I did Giselle x Tanzy!
I think that they should have insane chemistry and tension, but... insurmountable secrets keep them apart 😔

After 1.5+ years of putting it off...
Galdera is finally dead!
I didn't get a spare turn to summon Alrond (sadly) but I did beat him and he shall bother me no longer.
I did it with a team comp that was largely my own too :) (I got tips for individual builds, but that's about it)

One thing I love about Throné’s story is the animal symbolism in it. You got the black snakes working for the “two heads” like a big pack of reptiles. And then in her chapter 1 she meets this stray dog and the parallels between Throné and the dog are there because the dog’s free. She, however, has a collar around her neck.
And in her ending card she’s running free with it, no collar on her…
I like to think she loves animals. In a modern au she’d definitely have a job like at an animal shelter or something…. She definitely trusts them more than she trusts humans

I had a shower thought and I must ramble so,
Temenos is my favorite Octopath character because no matter how much I know him I also feel like I know absolutely nothing about him.
Let me explain, putting it all under a cut in case people scroll by on accident because there will be spoilers for a whole lot of Octopath Traveler II things.
We all know Temenos. I personally think he is one of the most interesting of the Octopath, at least on the male side. He's a cleric, a healer, but his first thing is taking the healer stereotypes and flipping them over and mushing them into unrecognizable goop. He's not kind, he's a little bitch to sugarcoat it, we all know it. He knows it. He even admits himself that healing is just "his job" and if I remember correctly he would heal people only if they deserve it (based on travel banter between Partitio, Castti, and Temenos, if you want to look) and not out of care. It's a breath of fresh air honestly. He doesn't act kind because of who he is, he's strong enough to be himself despite his job. He's so unbelievably himself that... he's also not.
This is all mostly speculation, but it makes sense to me so I'll say it. Back when, well Roi was alive, and he told Temenos how there's terrible secrets within the church, there was really no known reason (at least that I remember) that Temenos was even in the church to begin with. Aside from being adopted by the Pontiff or whatever. But on that day, Temenos could have just decided "i want nothing to do with this, bye" but he didn't. He stayed after that. And I feel that is because he feels obligated to be in the church, alongside making it up to Roi.
Religious figures are viewed so highly in most places around the world. They're listened to, they're respected. So Temenos probably took the inquisitor/priest/cleric profession because of that; if the church had terrible secrets, who was going to listen to some random guy on the street about it? Barely anyone, that's who. If a religious figure, a messenger of the gods, said to not put your faith blindly, you might not listen immediately, but you would damn well wonder why he said that. Doubt is what Temenos does and dammit he will make that clear. He hides behind a front, a well fucking crafted front, but that front is translucent; you can see through it but not clearly.
I also feel that yes, Hikari as the quote unquote "canon protagonist" makes complete and total sense I will not argue that (I remember some poll about that, ignore me), I will argue Temenos is a close second. Him being a "hound" was taken advantage of by Mindt I feel, and Temenos is basically standing right next to the Moonshade Order all of the time help this man.
Anyways rant over I nothing more to say, have a good day ":3
#octopath traveler 2#octopath 2#octopath traveler 2 spoilers#temenos mistral#these rants are not common but the vision came to me#if I didn't write it immediately it would be gone#i forget i don't need an excuse to post things#does this make sense? maybe not but oh well#if this was all said before in the wiki or something oops
