Octavian leaned against the altar in the temple of Jupiter, tired after another day of constant prophecies. For weeks now, he had been bombarded by images and messages regarding the Sibylline Books, which was an endeavor that Reyna and the Senate would never approve of. He had asked so many times, and yet each time she denied him.
For better or for worse, Reyna had turned nearly the entire Senate against him, with the exception of a few loyal followers who remained. Reyna had accused even them of having been bought by Octavian, but the truth of it was that they were truly friends.
Or at least, that’s what Octavian liked to think. He couldn’t actually be sure, considering the fact that he had never truly had a real friendship, at least not the type that comes with no strings attached and no expectations of favors to repay. But regardless, his allies were loyal and that was the most he could ask of them.
Michael Kahale stood a few feet away, leaning against one of the marble pillars that supported the roof of the temple. “Almost done, boss?” he asked, sounding more like a mobster than a teenager. Octavian threw his toga into a heap onto the altar, setting his knife nearby. “Yeah,” he sighed, running a hand through greasy hair. “Is the Senate meeting still on for tonight?”
Michael nodded. “Yup, and it looks like Miss Perfect is back to her old tricks.” Octavian’s eyes shot in Michael’s direction. “Don’t talk about her like that. She’s the Praetor” And she used to be my friend.
“Oh right,” Michael scoffed. “Miss Perfect Praetor.” He chuckled, kicking aimlessly at the floor. “Well, she won’t be Praetor for much longer, not once she’s up for re-election.”
Octavian narrowed his eyes, wondering what Michael was up to this time. “You think the Fourth and Fifth won’t vote for her? They’re like her lap dogs, and she has support from the city.” “Yeah, so? We could influence the others.” Michael suggested. “Well, I’m not blackmailing anyone.” Michael shrugged. “I never said blackmail them. But we could do that. It’s not a bad idea.” Octavian shook his head. “You’re a horrible influence, you know that? And I know that’s what you were thinking anyways, about blackmailing them.”
Michael’s expression hardened. “And why do you think I’d want to blackmail them?”
“Because you would. Because you’re like that.” Octavian shrugged, heading towards the door of the temple. Michael pushed himself off of the column, scampering after Octavian. “Yeah, well….this is New Rome. We have to fight dirty if we want to win.” Octavian rolled his eyes. “This isn’t the Empire anymore, Mike.” “I know. That’s why we need to win. It’s either us, or her. You know that. And you know what Reyna would do with absolute power.” Octavian raised an eyebrow. “Yeah, she’d make my life worse. As if it can get worse.” He said sarcastically, kicking a loose clump of dirt on the path as he went. Michael sighed, fishing for a response. “Well, you know she could do it. I’m just saying it as a friend.” He paused for a moment, thinking. “Do you seriously think it’s just not going to get better? The situation in the Senate? In Camp?” Octavian shrugged. “The auspices haven’t said otherwise.” Michael hummed. “Ah, so the teddy bears don’t like you either?”
“Shut up.” Octavian groaned, but he bit back a smile as he did. Real friends or not, at least his allies were willing to see him as a person and not just an augur.

Am I the only one that suspected Solangelo would be a thing after BOO not because of the Octavian moment but the Percy moment.
The moment Nico confessed to Percy about his crush and ran to Will right after.
That moment felt like foreshadowing to me but I might just be delusional
Am I the only one……?

🐚 Daughter of Neptune headcanons list 🌊 part one..
Note: I've never done a pjo hcs post like this with the aesthetic pictures and everything- but I've been Itching to make a daughter of Neptune one, since I consider myself as a Neptune child. So this is sort of a self insert haha, and I thought it'd fun cuz I have so many hcs abt this, I've only over seen ppl do a daughter of Poseidon one.
Also this one has reader x Jason Grace as romantic pairings, but it isn't the main focus. Like I said, this is a self insert, and I love my bb jason ;) + imagine having Percy as a big brother, goals fr
• Okay so you'd come to Camp Jupiter at the age of 8-9, so you definitely have a considerable amount of childhood before you came to camp. Which only made it harder for you to adapt to the barbaric ways the Roman camp worked.
• Also, Since Neptune was not a very respected Roman god, your arrival was considered bad luck. Octavian made you go through an intense trial (that motherfucker was like 10 years old and an augur, and was already such a bitch lol) + forced a newly elected praetor Reyna (who was also just 10 at the time) to hold a senate meeting before you were even offered a position at camp.
• Neptune is very feared by the romans though, since he represented the harsh brutality of the ocean, so you got the Roman Nico di Angelo treatment from camp. Everyone was scared of you, flinched when you walked passed them. this was to your advantage tho, since you never got bullied, mostly out of fear.
• so Neptune temples in Camp Jupiter are only taken care of by you, if you left for a quest or something then the shrines would be in such a horrible state, bc no one cares enough to offer Neptune anything or even clean up his shrine. You'd do the cleaning and offering.
• and the worst part? Your dad wouldn't even notice you even after your efforts.
• okay, your powers are quite similar to Percy's butt I feel like since Roman/Greek siblings always have powers that compliment eachother, you'd have better control over the earthly side of the domain. Like you can cause longer earthquakes, control seismic waves, and make volcanos erupt + cause bigger avalanches, Stuff like that.
• Your water control was actually a little limited, up until Percy arrived and helped you enhance your powers. And you helped enhance his control over earthquakes, since his earthquakes usually only lasted for a few seconds, his dad is more water dominant. So when you met him, you knew he was a missing puzzle piece in your life. You'd even be able to communicate telepathically to Percy underwater, a power you both never knew you needed.
• Seriously tho it would be hilarious to look at, bc to the others, you both sound like squeaky dolphins but in reality you are just telepathically speaking with one another. The others wouldn't understand, and poor Frank would be so confused as to why you both are making strangled fish noises
Leo would troll you guys so bad for this lol
• your eyes would actually be black. Not blue, not sea green, just black. Your eyes would literally glitter like black obsidian rocks. because Poseidon is the calm side of ocean, hence sea green eyes for Percy, Neptune is the dark and scary side of the ocean, so that's black eyes for you. that difference would clearly reflect in your guys's eye colours AND personality (I'll expand on this more in part 2)
• but your scariness comes with a downside, you had no friends. No friends, except Jason and Reyna. it's just your dad's naturally strict aura surrounding you that makes your overall personality a Lil grumpy and moody tbh. You did have such a resting bitch face that wasn't helping either.
• Jason, being the noble boy he was, knew you were going to be his friend the moment you made a dramatic entrance to camp for the first time, getting scouted by the waves to New Rome. He knew what it was like to have a powerful, scary dad, but he acknowledged and empathized that you had it harder than he did. He was considered a golden boy, while you were considered a scary bad luck charm. But regardless of that, Jason was your first best friend. And eventually, your boyfriend.
• Reyna on the other hand, badly wanted to befriend you because she admired your mental strength, you were 9 years old and you were openly scoffed at by the legionnaires simply because your father was a scary man. Yet you handled it all so well. But she befriended you a little later than Jason did. Since she was so busy, she barely had any time to chat with anyone. You, Jason and Reyna bonded as a trio when you guys had your first quest.
• Reyna secretly shipped you and Jason from the very beginning lol, bc a Jupiter x Neptune union? Y'all were powerful and cute af together. The mutual pining drives her crazy though, like kiss already smh.
• Also, Nicknames! Your nickname was ALWAYS "kelp head" because your hair was wavy and shaped like seaweed lol. As much as you hated to admit it, the name fit a little too well.
• okay enough with the friendship stuff, let's talk about how much that bastard Octavian makes it his mission to make your life a hellhole. It isn't even funny anymore, he hated you from the very beginning. Not only because you were considered bad luck, it's because he envied that you were a direct descendant of such a powerful God, he couldn't even handle Jason's arrival, yours was just the last straw for him. He opposes your opinions in front of the whole senate + prevents you from getting elected as Centurion + attempts to prevent you from going on quests, bc he can't handle someone else taking the glory.
• He was also the reason you were put into the unpopular twelfth legion. The underdog legion. But Jason? That sweetheart made it worth being in the twelfth legion so you weren't complaining tbh.
• honestly? Octavian and you are famous in camp for your bickering though lol it's just always a back and forth between you and him, such burning rivalry and enmity. You LOVED roasting him and you were fucking great at it too. He deserved that for making you go though hell. You'd laugh like a maniac when he trips and he smirks when has the upper hand against you in senate discussions.
• Reyna is the only reason you both didn't beat eachother up at this point tbh
• once, Reyna came running up to you all panicky because Octavian went missing from camp. In response, you beamed and told her that you'd get the balloons ready in the dining hall for a grand celebration. Jason would burst out laughing lol.
• you'd steal his teddy bears and give them to younger campers, asking them to hide it from octavian. So the younger campers absolutely adore you, unlike the older ones.
• you are also quite the rebel in camp, JUST like Octavian predicted you would be, when you first came to camp. It was actually written in his auguries that the new child of Neptune arrival would be always shafting the rules, since the sea can't be controlled. It's in a nature for a Neptune child to walk their own pace (lol have you seen Percy??) That gave another reason for him to hate you.
• Even some of the lares in CJ would call you an abnormal roman bc you never acted like one. You were wild and temperamental.
This rule breaking tendency you had did earn you lots of punishments that included scrubbing the whole camp with a toothbrush. But it was worth it for you. Camp Jupiter sucked. And you were already in trouble, so what's a little more, right?
• you'd sneak out at night to explore New Rome, because again, the Romans had this weird bedtime curfew like. they have rules for every. Fucking. Thing. It pissed you off so bad. They wouldn't even let you explore the city at night? They were seriously wasting the beauty of the city, You'd definitely rope Jason in to break the rules with you. Like don't be such a goody two shoes smh. I feel like that's what attracted him to you in the first place. He's a goody goody boy with such a boring life, youd just make it interesting for him.
• besides, sneaking out is SO much easier when you can fly. So Jason is your personal airplane. The Jason Grace airlines.
• okay so after all your hardwork in the legion, you'd finally get elected to Centurion, after you successfully finished a quest to retrieve a lost Roman artifact, which was formerly Jason's position and he would become a co praetor with Reyna. But you were still very much disrespected in camp tbh, it just became an internalised thing for everyone to hate you at this point, Octavian was also great at putting your reputation under dirt, but you didn't really care anymore.
• now here comes the catch, Jason and you were sort of in a half-pining half-relationship situation, Before that jerk goes missing. because neither of you knew how to confess, and camp was SO strict when it came to relationships for some reason?? Like even dating has to be lowkey.
• you and Jason are totally the grumpy x sunshine trope lol except you're the grumpy, snippy and batshit one and jason is calm, levelheaded and optimistic one.
Perfect balance. Gosh your dynamic would be so cute :(
• you'd just be grumpily stomping around while jason stalks behind you, laughing lightly. You're super short compared to him aswell, so yeah it makes it funnier.
• You were in charge of welcoming Hazel to camp, since Jason and Reyna had some serious meeting stuff about the new prophecy Octavian told them about.
• poor hazel would be scared to death while meeting you, not just bc it's you, it's bc she just came back from the dead, so this is all rlly new for her.
• That's where you met him. Nico di Angelo. You'd bond over your shared mistreatment in camp. So you became homies w him fairly quickly. He saw you as this cool big sister he could have happy meals with talking abt life.
• you would be a little curious when he keeps disappearing off to somewhere tho, you knew he was lying about where he came from.
Okay part 1 of this is done, this was so long lol, part 2 would drop later, that's where you and Percy meet and stuff.
Update: part two is out! https://www.tumblr.com/somewhereinhogsmeade/746489087922520064/daughter-of-neptune-headcanons-list-part-two?source=share

OKAY so I was trying to get to sleep but an idea for a really terrible AU came into my head where, through a weird twist of fate, Octavian landed on Festus’ back after being shot out of that onager and was accidentally administered the physician’s cure instead of Leo. He ends up on Ogygia, rescues Calypso, comes back, and has to learn to be a better person in Leo’s name.
Imagine seeing the horrified looks on everyone’s faces when they found out you got a second chance to live and Leo didn’t. The realisation that everybody hated you, and that you hurt so many people. That the war you waged caused so much damage and death. Feeling like you didn’t deserve your second chance- but deciding to make the most of it to honour the person who should’ve come back. Rethink your prejudices, take accountability, and learn from your mistakes.
I don’t think I’ll write this, but it would be a fun/interesting read.

all is fair in love and war
pairing: octavian x child of bacchus!reader
warnings: octavian 😞, pining, minor cursing, spoilers for son of neptune!!
word count: 1.3k+
“i wish reyna would let me strangle you.”
Octavian? You hate him for the most part. You hate the storm swirling above the Temple of Jupiter that crackles with electricity as another teddy bear augury is completed. You hate the way his piercing blue eyes mock you from behind Reyna as you sit at a Centurion’s meeting. You hate his insane laughter that echoed in your ears 6 years ago when he mutilated your stuffed animal. You roll your eyes. Dakota’s red-ringed lips lazily speak orders to the Fifth Cohort, but nobody’s listening. We’re gonna soften the defenses. Again. Great. As if the looks on our faces afer stepping away from the Officer’s conference wasn’t bad enough, Dakota’s speech isn’t helping. He squeezes a packet of Kool-Aid.
“Listen, guys. This is gonna be a good one, I can feel it!” You take charge, opting to do the talking. “Hazel and Frank, I know you guys are still on the new side, but I think you can do this. First row, create a shield wall with Dakota as you advance to soften the blow. Second row from Cecil over, hide behind the shields to fight off any advancing defenses. The other twelve, try to sneak around the flanks and find a way in.” A smile pulls at your lips, moving your brother aside. “Let’s move out, troops! Victory for the Fifth!”
The child army echoes your cheer as your ranks break. A looming wall stands in front of you, cohorts three and four standing guard behind. How do we see past the wall? When it’s so tall? “I suppose we’re acting as bait again,” you murmur to Dakota.
“Yeah, yeah, whatever.”
“Hannibal’s all ready?” You inquire, wanting to make sure your cohort gets the win they deserve. He nods, grabbing another juice out of his pocket.
The war games start, Reyna hovering overhead with Scipio. A circle of eagles fly in tandem with her, awaiting injury. You tag along with the twelve soldiers, attempting to find a crack in the wall, an unguarded plate. A tug pulls in your stomach, long green vines pushing out of the ground of the Field of Mars. Branches split off to grab your cohort, gently placing my teammates over the wall. It’s a struggle to keep Hazel and Frank quiet as they’re plopped right into enemy territory. The sounds of swords clashing rings out before you can even climb up yourself.
As you drop down, armor clinking together, the vines recede to leave a small scar in the earth. Wide blue eyes immediately stare back at you, coupled with the golden glint of a spatha. Great. Octavian’s here. Can’t give him a chance to think, you remind yourself. Your gladius makes a nice noise as you remove it from its sheath, pressing the flat against his smaller weapon. Before long, he’s disarmed. Unfortunately for you, he immediately starts to squawk, alerting any soldiers who might’ve still been preoccupied by their Mythomagic tournament.
“Backup! I need backup!” The lanky blonde yells, fumbling for his secondary weapon. A stray arrow whizzes past your ear as you lunge, grabbing him by his shoulder.
“Fifth cohort, for the colors!” Jonathan and Frank rush for their emblem, narrowly dodging flying furniture. Hazel’s backed into a corner by a First cohort member, her golden eyes filled with determination.
But, Tyche really isn’t on your side, is she?
A last minute elephant mishap knocks your troops away from the battlefield, wiping the scoreboard clean. Eagles swoop down to snatch up a good portion of the teenage militia.
You sit on a stone wall overlooking the city of New Rome, holding an icepack to your cheek. Guess Octavian had gotten you after all. A sigh rolls past your lips. The win was so close, it was right there. Bandages wrap around any minor cuts you may have acquired during the game. The all-too familiar crinkle of a Kool-Aid pouch makes you assume that Dakota had finally found you.
A rather soft object hits the back of your head.
It’s a freaking Kool-Aid packet. Grape flavored, at that.
“Wouldn’t Reyna like to know that her favorite Centurion is throwing a fit over a loss? What a sore loser,” a sarcastic voice jests. You grit your teeth, turning to face Octavian.
Curse him and his skinny body, his stupidly gorgeous blue eyes, his unblemished skin—
Woah.
Where did that come from?
“I’m looking for ways to better myself for my cohort. Not like you’d know anything about self-reflection,” You scoff. Much to your chagrin, the augur sits beside you. Phoebus Apollo rides close to the horizon, signaling the nearing arrival of dinnertime. “Do you mind?”
“No, I don’t,” he smirks. He looks quite stupid with those stuffed animals hanging from his belt, in your opinion. Seven stripes burn on his forearm under the symbol of an eagle, much like your own. His loose white toga hangs off his clothed shoulders. The sun radiates onto his pale skin, bathing him in a warm glow. Cocky bastard. He knows he’s pretty. “Do you have a staring problem?”
You snap back to reality real quick.
“No, I don’t.” You turn your head away, embarrassed. You weren’t staring, were you? Small vines decorated by bundles of purple grapes pop up around you, encircling the area. “Is there a reason you’re here? Or would you just like to gloat.”
Octavian reclines, pressing his hands on the green grass behind him. He picks a grape, tossing it at your temple. “I’m simply encouraging your improvement,” he teases.
“I wish Reyna would let me strangle you.”
“You wouldn’t dare.”
As you look out at the sunset, you don’t notice his eyes on you. You don’t notice the way his gaze trails over the bridge of your nose and your freckles and the rosy hue covering your cheeks like he’s committing the way you look at dusk to memory.
“Pretty night, huh?”
That’s unusual. Octavian making small talk?
“Yeah, it is.”
“You weren’t too bad today,” he mutters, very clearly avoiding his gaze. It’s very much unlike him to butter you up, even if he wants something.
“Thanks?” you tilt your head, confused by his praise. Should you be offended?
The two of you look out at the little Tiber rolling over the hills, basking in the golden hue painting the heavens. A long, cold hand drapes over yours eventually, gently squeezing. You jolt away, face pink as the clouds in the sky.
“The Pluto?!”
“Shut up.” He shoves something in your lap, and for a second you think it’s a grenade of Greek fire, set to explode as soon as he’s out of range. Tyche must feel sorry for her absence earlier.
A soft green material, as green as the grass, sits against your thighs, a happy smile staring up at you. It can’t be. A fuzzy memory returns to you, a feeling of nostalgia washing over you. A frog plush from long ago. Stitches a bit darker than the original fuzzy fabric reach from seam to seam, head to toe.
“What—?”
“Seriously, shut up. I found it tucked away, thought you’d like to see it again before it gets sacrificed to the gods again.”
You scoop up the piece of your childhood in your free hand, eyes wide as the cosmos. Before that little smirk on Octavian’s face can grow any further, a cold, hard object smacks him right across the face, sending him reeling.
“What the?!”
“You little dick,” you huff, placing the icepack on the ground. “Thanks, I guess.”
He smiles—a real smile, however small—as he stares into your eyes. “You’re very welcome, love.” His alabaster face is painted red.
You shake your head, amused. “Don’t ever call me that again.”
Like a scene from a fairytale, his hand snakes its way onto your waist, the proximity only forcing more of your father’s fruit out of the ground.
“Like I’d listen to you,” he chides.
You lean forward, pressing your lips against his in a gentle kiss.
“I really am irresistible.”
“Shut up, you’re ruining the moment.”

Well… Maybe Not Like The Greeks
Pairing(s): Octavian x Gn!Roman Demigod!Reader
Synopsis: Octavian has gone too far and there’s only so much rose tinted glasses can do to obscure your vision. You finally make a decision.
Word Count: 1,275
-
Octavian was beyond help, that much you reluctantly accepted. You loved him, you did, and you knew he reciprocated that love with what might be considered a little obsessive devotion. But you couldn’t deny it any longer: He needed to be stopped.
It was a wonder that you had managed to sneak out of camp, and by extension New Rome, with how uptight the shifts had been lately. You knew if you were found out, Octavian would be beyond pissed, but might as well. The tension around camp was thick with the promise of war, and he was beyond reasoning. No amount of your words—pleas, arguments, even logic—had broken through that thick skull of his. He was set on wiping out Camp Half-Blood before they could strike first, and nothing seemed to be able to change that. The other residents had been suspiciously quiet, almost like a storm waiting to break.
The quiet was eerie, suffocating almost, like a fire waiting to catch. You’d seen the way Octavian had been slipping further into his paranoia, clutching at his visions as though they were the only thing keeping him tethered to reality. You could barely recognize him now—he wasn’t the same person that looked forward to seeing you, who tried to win you over with sarcasm. No, now he was a monster through and through, eyes cold, and dead set on bringing about the end of what he deemed a “threat.”
But he was losing his grip on everything, even you. You couldn’t stand by anymore. Something had to give.
You slipped into the night like a shadow, moving quickly and quietly, your breath ragged but steady as you pushed through the outskirts of the camp. You were so close to the borders of New Rome, so close to freedom, when the unmistakable sound of footsteps in the dark made you freeze.
“You think you can leave without me knowing?”
You froze, heart slamming against your ribs. There was no mistaking the voice—the cold, almost chilling tone that sent a shiver straight down your spine. It was him.
“Octavian—” You tried to keep the surprise out of your voice, but it was hard. Damn him for being so perceptive.
His shadow loomed over you, the dim light of the moon illuminating his rigid form. His eyes gleamed with something darker than you had ever seen, his expression a mix of disappointment and... something far worse.
“I knew you wouldn’t understand, but you don’t get to run away from this.” His words were firm, clipped.
“I’m not running away,” you said, voice tight with frustration. “I’m trying to stop you before you make a mistake you’ll regret.”
Octavian didn’t even blink. His lips curled into a smile that didn’t reach his eyes. “A mistake? No, no, no. We can’t afford to be weak, not anymore. They’ll come for us. I’m doing what has to be done. And you, you of all people, should understand that.”
You had been hoping against hope that you could change his mind. But it seemed that hope had long since died in the fire of his resolve. He grabbed your wrist, pulling you roughly with him as he led you toward Apollo’s temple. You were beyond exhausted, both physically and emotionally, but there was no fighting him, not like this.
Inside the temple, the atmosphere shifted. The air grew thick, stifling almost, as if the walls themselves were heavy with the weight of centuries. A strange, almost haunting glow emanated from somewhere beyond sight, and the scent of incense mixed with something faintly sickly. The central altar was littered with old, weathered animal plushies—guts spilling from them, the stuffing leaking like blood from an open wound.
“I need you to understand, y/n,” Octavian’s voice broke through your thoughts. His gaze never left you as he took his place at the altar, his fingers running over the dismembered plushies like he was reading the signs. “This is the only way. I can see it... the future is clear.” His eyes glittered with something that felt far too close to madness. “We have to strike first. Before they wipe us out. Before they destroy everything we’ve worked for.”
“You’re insane,” you breathed, disgust curling in your stomach as you watched his form.
“No. I’m the only one who sees clearly.” His voice was sharp, rising as if he were speaking to an audience. “We’ll wipe out Camp Half-Blood before they even have the chance. We Romans have been at war with the Greeks for centuries—it’s always been this way. It’s always been Roman dominance or nothing.”
“You don’t know that,” you snapped, stepping forward despite the tight grip he had on you. “You’re so set on this vision of yours that you can’t see the truth right in front of you. They’re not all our enemies. You can’t just destroy everyone who doesn’t agree with you.”
His eyes flickered—first confusion, then something far darker. “You’re wrong.” His voice was barely a whisper now, the kind of quiet that made your blood run cold. “I have to do this. They’re dangerous, y/n. And you don’t understand how dangerous they are. They’ve always wanted to tear us apart.”
“You’re wrong.” The words slipped out before you could stop them. “Some of the cohorts... they’re even saying you’re acting like a Greek– Achilles for God's sake. That you’re so obsessed with your vision of the future that you’re blind to anything else. You’re neglecting what could happen, the possible... what ifs, and you’re refusing to see it all because of something so petty”
The moment the words left your lips, everything went silent.
Octavian’s eyes went dark, darker than you had ever seen them. “What did you just say?” His voice was dangerously calm, the air between you thick with fury.
“Octavian, I didn’t mean—”
“You think I’m like that?” He spat, stepping toward you with a wild look in his eyes. “You think I’m like that Greek—that thing Achilles?”
You stepped back, your throat closing. You hadn’t meant to say it, not like that. You hadn’t meant to bring him to this point. But it was too late now.
“You really think you can just walk away from this? That you can leave me behind? You can’t leave. You belong here. And I’m going to show you that you’re wrong about everything. I’m not like Achilles. I will win this war. And if I have to burn everything down to prove it, I will.”
You let out a bitter laugh and turned on your heel, walking straight out of the temple. Octavian didn’t try to stop you, didn’t call after you. And in that silence, you knew exactly that he got the message: I’m done with you.
Another laugh almost escaped you, but it stuck in your throat. Traitor. By morning, that’s what they’d call you. You’d be the one who walked away, who betrayed him. But honestly, you didn’t care anymore.
You had made your choice. And so had he.
As you stepped into the cool night, the weight of everything felt heavy in your chest. The camp would talk, sure—there would be whispers, and accusations. But it didn’t matter. Octavian’s war wasn’t about protecting anyone, it was all about himself. And that wasn’t something you could stand by anymore. Not when it meant losing yourself in the process.
You walked farther away from New Rome, from him, and with each step, you felt a little lighter. It was over. No going back.
But no matter what came next, you weren’t going to let his madness pull you down with him.

Fiat Lux
For my best friend, @ilikesand
For my best friend, in which I never would have understood the gravity of the misunderstood without you. Would have never had Octavian become one of my favorite characters. I hope you like it!
Also, on Ao3
Summary (PJO One-Shot):
Octavian knew the signs. He knew the gods were displeased, and still, everyone wanted to disregard the rules. So Octavian was done with sacrificing stuffed animals - the gods would no longer answer to such inconsequential sacrifices.
Apollo takes notice of his dear descendant and grants him a true vision and a choice upon Octavian's sacrifice. Well, it's not like Octavian would take the alternative of sitting back and doing nothing, regardless of what others think. He's already used to people not liking him, and bullying him for things he can't control, so he might as well play the villain if it means saving the world - if it means saving his siblings, siblings who probably don't even remember him.
Octavian
The air was biting, cold and rigid. Octavian didn’t particularly mind though — no, what he minded was the festering storm and rolling thunder clouds on the horizon. As Augur, it was his duty to divine the message the gods have sent him. The glares and spits he got as he headed up to Jupitar’s temple from his fellow comrades notwithstanding.
Thunder boomed as he entered the temple and Octavian hurried along to the altar. He didn't think about the last time Jupiter was in such a mood. The quakes of power searing through his temples as visions of lightning strikes burned villages and people to dust. No, Octavian instead thought of the boisterous laughter of his siblings as a storm boomed around them. Of the times when it was as if the storm was playing along to their childish claps with a loud quake of thunder following them.
Ah, it seems he's getting a bit too sentimental. No matter, Octavian has long since buried his heart under his duty to uphold the order and pride of Camp Jupitar. Much like his hands are stained red in the freshly dead animals offered to the gods, so too will the camp be if they don't appease the gods. Really, what did Praetor Reyna think when she sought to go to the old lands? They are forbidden for a reason.
The gods are angry. And Octavian is done playing with useless stuffed animals. He warned the senate that the old ways were there for a reason — that messing with tradition is treacherous, and yet, the council's soft palate won out. But if they won't get things done and rightfully appease the gods — Octavian will do it himself!
Thus, with a careful and quick slice, blood spilled from a young calf. The red seeped on the altar, as the animal thudded down, its heart beating its last. Octavian breathed in deeply and thanked the calf for its sacrifice on his exhale, for the spirits held in respiration — of the life taken and given. Octavian knew the gods would do much worse if they didn't get their dues.
Just as the patience began to seep away from him as the moments ticked away, the blood starting to dry, Octavian's received a vision with a searing clarity. The Earth claimed thousands of lives in her womb — the screaming and gasping as they were buried alive. The Greeks fighting the Romans in a bloody war as Terra Mater laughed.
Octavian gasped for breath, heaving and trying to calm his pounding heart.
“So, my descendant has finally decided to stop sacrificing useless pillow pets ?!” A silky voice whispered.
But even quiet the voice held power, as the once cold room became almost sweltering hot.
Octavian instantly knelt to the ground, knowing intimately who this was — his ancestor, the source of his bloodline — Apollo.
“My lord,” Octavian spoke reverently and respectfully, staring at the marble tile. Nothing more or less unless given permission.
Octavian heard the footsteps heading toward him, the steps like a tap-tap to a somber dance. The legacy didn't dare look up, even as he saw the golden sandals of the god before him.
The god knelt down a bit, reaching hand up gently but forcefully and grabbed Octavian's chin, making him stare right in the burning gaze of the god. The legacy couldn't formulate words in his mind for how beautiful and terrifying those golden eyes were. Much later all Octavian could think was that he was staring right into the might of the sun, and the god protected him from burning from such a sight.
“Yes, you will do, my favored descendant.” The god whispered in Octavian's ear, the words coiling around his mind like a snake.
And then the god whispered to his descendant a plan of power and glory, and a burning fiery aftermath or of the righteous storm that will save the world from destruction. That should the storm save the world; the son of Jupiter will pay the price of sacrifice. But should Octavian intervene and influence the path of fate… of the scorn and distrust should Octavian survive it. The legacy didn't dare utter a word about how it would hardly be different then things are now and how any price was worth it as long as he stays alive, but somehow, he felt the god knew what he was thinking. The power of the gods uneclipsed and true.
The god’s eyes impossibly softened, looking more akin to the burning embers of dusk than the blazing glory of day, “Yes, my descendant, the one who shines brightly with my gift. You have shown resolve and cunning even as others look down upon and mock you. You are the one who knew that Mors was chained and forced Mars to acknowledge it, even if others began to look at you callously. You knew that you could not spare troops to help the quest to free Death, lest Camp Jupiter would fall. Even if you had to be seen as evil in the process.”
“So, I ask of you, my dear Octavian, are you willing to do what needs to be done?” Apollo asks, his voice stern yet kind.
Octavian looks into his ancestor's eyes, those beautiful balls of flame, and says, “Yes, my lord.”
“Then rise my Pontifex Maximus.” The god commands, and Octavian does.
Even if nothing changes outwardly with the title. There is no crown or laurel Octavian now wears, he feels as if a great force is weighing him down, but still he rises.
Like always, Octavian will do what needs to be done, even if others hate and belittle him afterwards. Still, if it saves the world, if it saves his brother, then what does Octavian care that people will think him evil.
“You will save us all,” The god claims, and then the air swelters, the god burning brightly making the legacy close his eyes from the sheer light.
Then, the air grows cold as the god dreams his presence fit elsewhere, and a faint smell of laurels permeates in the temple. The sacrifice accepted and disappeared from view, even the stains of blood vaporizing before the legacy’s eyes.
All that's left is a paper floating down in the air. Octavian catches it, smudging the still wet blood from his offering on the paper. Both ends of the paper are charcoaled black and only one line can be read: to storm or fire the earth must fall.
Octavian straightens up and smiles grimly. He is the bridge between men and the gods, the Pontifex Maximus, and now has control of the Roman army. It's rather ironic that he now outranks all those that called him too weak and feminine to even wield a sword, but no matter, he knows his duty to camp and to the gods unlike them, who would rather sit by and watch the world burn. Ironic isn’t it, how the Morai twist and weave their tapestry?
Octavian may never be a good man, but he is at least a loyal one, and he will be damned to Hades if he didn’t do all he could to protect what little he has. He upheld the god's standards, even if others have faltered. He left his siblings to their father’s whims, because Lord Jupiter demanded it. Wanted them to prove themselves worthy of the king’s power and authority. Then, his big sister was mauled to the brink of death when she was twelve, and his little brother became more wolf than boy as Lady Juno demanded her prize.
But just this once, Octavian is able to uphold not just the god’s demands, but his personal one’s as well — one’s that he had to abandon so his brother grew up strong and capable. But now, with the future knowledge that Lord Apollo has granted him, Octavian won’t let the world fall to his storm if it’s the last thing he does. He will not damn his little brother to an early death, and so Octavian will brave the agony of burning alive — knowing his brother will be the one to survive.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Fire was the hearth and the home, safety and warmth, but it was also destruction and searing pain. Why did his kin, the son of Apollo, or anyone else for that matter not tell him he was attached to the onager — to the unstable bomb of Imperial Gold that he devised to kill Mater Terra? Octavian knew he was to be burned alive to enact Lord Apollo’s vision to save the world — to save his little brother. But Octavian didn’t know it would be like this. Didn’t know that he was to be treated like an evil monster that needed to be burned alive.
Octavian knew he acted like a madman in his plans — that no one really liked him prior to his ascension to power. But did no one, not one of his comrades that knew him for years, try and understand why?
Octavian would like to say that it didn’t hurt — that his heart was long dead to the sting of betrayal — but like an innocent “witch” set to be burned at the stake, he was unprepared for how much fire would burn.
But guess it doesn’t matter anymore. With his ancestor’s help things were put in the correct motion, and now he was hurtled through the sky.
The air whipped around him like razors, and two screams joined him.
Octavian saw a vision, like he was no longer in his body of a boy flying on a bronze dragon and the evil Earth Goddess hurtling up in the sky. He watched like the phantom he was about to become as a brilliant fire erupted in the sky — pure golden white, brighter than Apollo’s might — and everyone one down below became blinded from the light.
‘Fiat Lux,’ Octavian thought, let there be light.
But, even as the vision of the blinding light came to him, and Octavian knew he was about to face his imminent death, all he could focus on was finding his siblings in the crowd.
There! He saw them for not even a second, but it was enough for Octavian to accept his demise. They were alive!
Still, that didn’t prepare the legacy for how much his death would hurt.
The might of the inferno charcoaled his flesh and ignited his veins in its all-consuming heat. The screams that ripped out of his throat were soon gone as his voice box crumbled to ash. The ringing in his ears like a blaring siren, but left to the silence of death, just as his eyes melted and empty sockets only saw darkness.
Thump-Thump
The agony of living in a body that should have already been a corpse.
Thump
Why was he still alive? He just wanted this to be over.
…Thump
Octavian for once felt absolutely nothing. It was a kind of numbness that felt wrong, as if he was on the verge of Chaos, of the void of nothingness in which all life sprung from.
…
At last, he can rest.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The scarred soul was taken up and examined like it was a partially interesting thing. Two pitch black eyes stared at the essence of the boy’s soul, looking down upon it from his long black beak.
“Yes, yes, you who have suffered and preserved.” The being spoke to himself, “Of the one who always kept learning, even as the wisdom of what was to come was horrid. Your ancestor has a kindness in his heart that leads to tragedy, but even then, he knew that yours was too much. Of a legacy that would be wrongly scorned, and a family that would be left aching at your seeming betrayal.”
“Well, Apollo was already to be punished he knew,” The being cackled, a trilling sound as his black and white feathers ruffled, and he examined a vial in his dark humanoid hand, “So why not have his son have two cures prepared.”
The being smiled with their beak, and the ashes of the dead was given the Asclepius’ cure for death. Nerves, organs, bones, muscles, ligaments, and flesh all brought back. The once horrifically burned and scarred flesh is now as soft as a newborn’s.
“Why hello,” the being spoke to newly opened golden eyes — eyes marked by divinity, “My little magician.”
“Who are you?” The now revived Octavian spoke, his words tumbling and unfamiliar as if this was his first time speaking.
“Why, my friend. I am Thoth.” The Egyptian God of the Moon, Magic, Writing, Learning, and Wisdom spoke.
“Why-” Octavian spoke softly, not able to bring words to his tumulus thoughts, of the memories of pain that were no longer felt as his heart beat strongly in his chest.
“-am I alive?” The god finished the legacy. “Well let’s just say Apollo had a bit of foresight, and didn’t want to lose his favorite descendant.”
The god stroked his neck feathers with his humanoid hand, “Your gods are quite possessive after all. And of course, how could I not help when he came to me speaking of a legacy of two pantheons. You are quite the commodity, practically nonexistent, so how could I resist?”
Octavian’s mind was whirling, but that’s when it clicked. No wonder he didn’t recognize the god’s name. The legacy remembered when he was very little and knew nothing of his father’s place in Camp Jupiter, when his mother was still alive and present in his life. When she brought her family to the movie’s she started in — of an ancient civilization that worshiped gods with animal heads and human bodies. A film about the Egyptian Gods that his father was none too thrilled to see, calling them ridiculous. Of the repercussions that followed as his parents started yelling and fighting and soon a little girl boy with blonde hair and electric blue eyes was born, who was not his father’s daughter son — and, thus, is Octavian’s half sister brother.
Turns out the youngest sibling born of adultery having the same electric blue eyes as the eldest sibling — a searing blue like a strike from the heavens — was too much for Father to stand.
Then, the rest is history. Father took Octavian away from his starlet mother, and his half siblings, and introduced him to camp Jupiter and all the gods they worship — and started training him for his future duty as Augur. Of the harsh words and punishments should Octavian not excel at what he was taught. Of the sparse news outlets that Octavian snuck out to watch — of his mother’s falling fame, and his older sister running away. Of the visions that started to eat away at him — of screams and suffering.
Then, the son of Jupitar came to camp — with all too familiar electric blue eyes, and Octavian knew, he knew that this boy that was more wolf pup than boy (because he was raised by Lupa, even given a new name by the Wolf Goddess than by their human mother) was his little brother. That those harsh words his father called his mother now made sense as Octavian looked into those familiar eyes, the echoes of childhood and innocence long gone. Understanding that their Father called Beryl whore for a reason, as she fell into the God King’s lust not just once but twice when she was a married woman. But the second time, Juno wouldn’t abide her husband’s transgressions and took the child as her champion — to mold him into a perfect soldier. Never having the chance to just be an innocent child, but to be a slave forced into servitude.
Octavian could do nothing but stay away as the wolf boy was turned into a perfect solider, as Jason was isolated from having a family or friends of his own! As his skin was branded at 3 years old!
But, of course, even if Jason, his little brother, was allowed to live — even if only for his potential to bring Juno glory, Thalia would not be spared, even if Juno seemed to turn a blind eye. The slight of Jupiter cheating not once but twice, was too much. And so, when Octavian was an angry ten-year-old, Thalia was just twelve, and Jason was six — his big sister was dead. And all Octavian had to show for it was the tears streaming down his face as he dreamt of his big sister being ripped apart by hellhound. No vision years later of her surviving erased the pain, knowing that he could do nothing by watching as her blood and bones became bark and sap.
“Are you alright, little magician?” Thoth spoke softly.
Octavian blinked, tasting a bit of salt on his tongue. He wiped at his face and oh, he was crying. He laughed a bit, the sound bitter and hoarse. His siblings probably didn’t even remember who he was, he was hardly in their lives after all, so what right does he have to cry over them?!
“Yes, I’m fine.” Octavian lied, his eyes red and stuffy.
The god thankfully didn’t call him out on his lie, “Well, in that case, I think it’s time I start to teach you about your other heritage. Of the pharaoh in which you and your father descended from.”
Octavian inclined his head, only a numb echo of surprise panting in his skull. He wanted to avoid his intrusive thoughts, so focusing on some hopefully strenuous tasks instead of recounting his broken family was very much welcomed.
“Well, you see, as a descendant of a pharaoh, and the deal Apollo made, you are now my host…” Thoth went on to explain Octavian’s heritage and his expectation as a host to Thoth.
Octavian took it all in clinically. Truthfully, it felt like a traded one cage for another, but at least this time Octavian’s wings weren’t clipped. In fact, he now had an avatar form that had wings, generously gifted to him from his new connection to Thoth — not that it helped with Octavian’s fear of flying when he remembered his death.
The god, his god, was surprisingly human in caring about and helping Octavian overcome this fear, but the legacy knew gods — they didn’t just help out of the kindness of their hearts. That’s just not how they work, it’s hardly even how humans work either. Octavian would know — he’s analyzed people’s behaviors constantly over the years to make sure he reacted appropriately — as people all too often liked to answer with their fists when he didn’t react the right way.
Really, Octavian did not understand why people ask how you are if they don’t actually want to know?!
That’s why Octavian liked the gods — they were true to themselves, to their essence. And Thoth, Octavian, was starting to learn was somehow a lot like him. He liked to read and learn everything he could. He was blunt and honest… and his family life was a mess.
Octavian really shouldn’t be relating in such a way to a god, but as Thoth's host he found himself learning more and more about the god. He found himself soaring through the skies and learning about the constellations with vigor, and laughing at the god’s misconceptions to modern technologies. He threw himself at his host duties, though he did avoid the other avatars that tried to contact him like the plague. And he found himself trying to forget of the siblings that thought him dead, trying to live a new life without any human interaction. Of course, like a prophecy, you can’t avoid the inevitable forever.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The wind that tousled around Octavian felt like freedom, and he spread out his white ibis wings, soaring through the sky, while the light of Apollo gently warmed his skin. Octavian felt free, flying above the world — everything down below a spec to his eyes, and no one could reach him as he soared high above in the sky.
Well, Octavian should have known not to think in absolutes. No normal person could reach him, but well it’s not as if he was prepared for someone to literally crash into him as he flew in the cloudless sky.
One second Octavian was simply flying through the air, and the next he was hurtling towards the ground — someone screaming at him as they knocked him out of the sky.
Octavian’s heart thudded in his chest, panic beginning to take hold on in his veins, but then everything seemed to stop — the air seemed to solidify around him, and a silence took hold around the area. There was no wind, no nothing. Nothing but the labored breath of two individuals.
“Sorry, for flying into you. I didn’t expect there to be anyone else in the sky,” a voice, an all too familiar voice, spoke.
Octavian would never, could never forget that voice, even if the River Lethe took his memories, took everything that made him Octavian — his soul would recognize that voice. His little brother: Jason Grace.
Octavian spoke up trying to keep his voice from wavering as faced his little brother — facing those pure blue eyes, “It’s no problem. I wasn’t expecting anyone else to be up here either.”
Then, his little brother smiled, pure and bright, and laughed, “Yeah, my boyfriend is never going to let me live this down. He said I needed to watch where I was flying, and I told him that there was literally nothing in the sky. Guess I was wrong.”
Boyfriend?! What, Jason is a baby — he’s only 16 why does he have a boyfriend?!
“Oh, sounds like your boyfriend cares a lot about you,” he better anyways, or Octavian will make sure that the body is never found.
Jason’s entire face lit up, an enormous grin on his lips and his eyes went fond as he spoke, “Yeah, Percy’s the best boyfriend I could ever ask for.”
“Perseus Jackson is your boyfriend?!” Octavian couldn’t help but shriek.
Jason's face instantly closed off, his body tensing, and he asked his tone growing harsher, “Who are you, and how do you know my boyfriend?”
“Anyone who knows a lick of the Greco-Roman Pantheon knows of Percy Jackson,” Octavian spoke, his voice wavering as Jason still glared at him with those blue eyes.
“That doesn’t answer my first question.” Jason said, his voice holding little emotion — the air seeming to tighten its hold around Octavian.
“It’s time,” Thoth’s voice echoes in Octavian’s head.
Octavian shutters, but he sighs in defeat. He knew that he couldn’t avoid this forever, but he thought, he thought he would have to to prepare for their reunion.
“Very well, but can we first land?” Octavian speaks up, and sees that Jason remains unwavering, and so he vows, “I swear on the River Styx that I mean you no harm and will tell you who I am once we land.”
An echoing boom instantly is heard, and Jason’s hold on the air snaps. The two fall through the air, and Octavian instinctively flaps his wings, but Jason is still falling.
“Jason!” Octavian yells and speeds off to his little brother as he hurtles through the sky.
Octavian catches his little brother before he goes splat, and Octavian yells, his voice worried, “Why did you not use your powers?!”
Jason breathed in deeply, his voice a bit panicked, “I was trying, but I couldn’t focus!”
Octavian sighed in relief, as he could feel his little brother once again command the air, and separated from him, “I’m glad that you’re alright.”
Jason gives Octavian an indiscernible look, and nods his head, “Yeah, let’s just land, alright.”
Octavian agrees, and soon enough the two land in some park, the autumn tree leaves falling gently around the two.
“So you wanted to know who I was,” Octavian spoke up, calling off his avatar form, the beginning of recognition and shock beginning to seep into his little brother’s form, “Well, I’m Octavian Grace …” Neither of his parents deserved to be parents, but at least with his mother’s last name he shared it with his siblings.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Brother!” Jason cried, instantly slamming into the older’s body, wrapping him in a hug.
Octavian instinctively hugged back, his shock delaying his reaction — Jason knew, knew that they were brothers.
“How?” Octavian could only ask, still startled as Jason held him tightly crying on his shoulder. And oh how much Jason has grown to be able to reach his shoulder — he used to barely reach Octavian’s middle.
Jason looked up at Octavian, tears streaming down his face, and sobbed “T-thalia r-remebered y-you, and s-spoke at your f-funera-al.” Jason held onto Octavian tighter, as if he was going to drop dead any minute, “And then A-apollo t-told e-everyone h-how you s-saved us. How you s-sacrificed y-yourself.”
Octavian had no words, no words to describe the complete and utter shock he was in, so all he could do was gape and say, “What?”
Then, Jason gasped, “Thalia.” He grabbed Octavian’s hand, “You need to see her.”
Octavian felt completely overwhelmed, but at the same time he felt a smidgen of hope swell in his chest as Jason led him away. He was going to see his big sister again.
Apparently, Thalia and Jason must have been having a picnic, because there she was on a blanket surrounded by sandwiches and fruits laid out before her. Octavian ignored the other person — the aforementioned boyfriend that was sitting there as well.
She still looked so young, baby fat still clearly on her face, despite the fact that she’s 21, almost 22. She’s eternally 15, never able to grow up, to mature because she’s sworn an oath to Lady Diana.
“Who’s-,” Thalia muttered as she turned to look at Octavian being dragged by Jason, but then her eyes went wide with recognition.
Her eyes were alight, like lightning striking through a storm, as she hurtled herself at Octavian.
“Tavi!” She called out trapping Octavian in a tight embrace.
Octavian held his sister closely, the nickname making him reminisce when his big sister thought Octavian was an old man's name, and he needed a name fit for being her little brother. A time before his father took him away from her.
“You’re alive!” Thalia cried, relief awash in her face. “I never thought I’d see you again Tavi.”
“I’m here.” Octavian murmured and looked over to meet Jason’s eyes, and beckoned him over.
Jason didn’t hesitate and was embraced by his two older siblings, his face held in the crook of Octavian’s neck, as the middle sibling bent down to hold the two.
Everything felt right and whole again. His family was alive and well!
Of course, Octavian had to eventually address the elephant in the room.
“So…” Octavian began awkwardly as his siblings pulled back a bit, but never far away enough to not hold onto him — the memories of his death still too fresh, “Perseus Jackson, my little brother’s boyfriend?”
Jason's face went bright red, and he averted his eyes to look at Percy.
Percy hesitantly approached the trio of siblings, standing nearer Jason, and eloquently greeted, “Hello.”
Thalia's face palmed, and spoke, “This is little brother 2.0, also known as our future brother-in-law.”
Percy and Jason both sputtered but didn’t exactly refute her statement.
Octavian just simply observed, a small smirk growing on his face, “Well, nice to meet you brother-in-law.” It feels good to tease his younger brother, after sixteen years, and finally Octavian is free to just interact with him — to finally place his family before duty.
Percy’s face went as red as a tomato, but he smiled and held Jason’s hand tight in his.
“Stop teasing us,” Jason whined, pouting a little bit like a sad puppy.
Percy nodded his head, giving a look that reminded Octavian of a seal pup. These two.
“It’s only our right to tease little brothers,” Thalia smirked, “Tavi got a lot of catching up to do, after all.”
“Indeed.” Octavian agreed.
The two teens whined no’s, but their huge smiles gave them away.
Octavian thought, ‘This must be Elysium.’
It wasn’t perfect, too many distrusted the hero people lauded him to be when he returned to see Camp, and those that shifted their stances gave Octavian whiplash. But Octavian never did what he did for glory or claimed to be a hero — he did it for them, not the world after all. Still, Octavian will take this little piece of Elysium that he’s been granted with his siblings, and make sure every breath they take will never be their last.
Notes:
Thank you all for reading! I hope you enjoyed my reading and the journey!
Through learning and re-reading about Octavian, he really is hated upon too much. Really, I view him as someone who doesn't like when other breaks the rules, as he views the rules are rigid, that they are there for a reason and meant to be upheld. Rick also describes everyone who meets him as instantly distrusting and not liking him, even as going as far as to say how is more effeminate traits are unappealing. Octavian was really just done dirty.
Anyways, Octavian's just a lil guy, who's also insanely tall, and as per my friend's head cannon, and is half-siblings with Thalia and Jason Grace. I honestly really love this, and my friend is such a good writer. I can't wait to read their Octavian fic!

Rescue Mission
Octavian x Gn!Reader
Summary: As the newly appointed praetorian the reader must deal with Octavian and his habit of stealing campers stuffed animals.
This can be read as a platonic or romantic fic! No use of (Y/N) and readers gender is never mentioned!
After Jason had disappeared Reyna was in dire need of a new Praetorian… So here you were, filling in some big shoes that were left for you. Little did you know that being Praetorian was like babysitting hundreds of kids who all had issues. Demigods deserved to have free therapy… Yet your favorite person to babysit was the Augur Octavian. He seemed to always invite some sort of problems, whether he decided to be mean to the fifth cohort or he stole some campers stuffed animal and offered it to the gods. Reyna had basically made you his full-time handler. Which is why you are making your way to the apollo shrine, to try and take back a few stuffed animals he had recently stolen. Hopefully you can make it before the poor things are totally destroyed. Another part of the job has been collected the carcasses of the stuffed animals and trying to sew them back together.
As you entered the shrine you could see Octavian. He had ditched the toga today and just wore his camp shirt and some dark wash jeans. You cleared your throat.
“Hey…”
Octavian looked behind him and sneered at you. “What do you want?” Clearly he had not been expecting to get caught so soon again. You walked closer to him and narrowed your eyes. “I have a trade offer for you…” He turned around and it gave you time to see that the stuffed animals were not harmed yet… He scoffed as he examined you. “A trade offer?” “Yep… You stop stealing campers stuffed animals and the praetorians will supply you with new ones instead.” You smiled at him as he thought about the offer. “Do I get one whenever I want…?” He asked quietly as he looked into your eyes. You shook your head softly. “We dont have that kind of budget… Youll get one each week… Even that took alot of convincing for Reyna…”
He looked at you like you had two heads. “You were the one to bring it up to Reyna?” He asked softly as his eyes turned from their usual cold and callous look to a softer, confused expression. “Yes… It wouldnt be fair if you werent allowed to do your offerings but you need to stop stealing the campers stuff…” You walked closer, keeping your hands behind your back. “I am getting a bit tired of fetching stuffed animals, especially sewing them back together.” You said with a soft smile.
He let out a scoff that sounded more like a laugh. “You sewed them back together?” You nodded your head and shrugged your shoulders. “Im like the best Praetorian huh?” You grinned, he only rolled his eyes at you and then turned to look back at the shrine with the still intact stuffed animals. “Okay… I accept your offer” A smile came to your face as you hummed. “Good… I have a little present.” This made Octavian turn with his eyebrows raised. “A present…?” You nodded and smiled at him. “Yeah… Close your eyes and hold out your hands.” This made him give you a look that said ‘You cant be serious’, though when you didnt say anything he sighed and did as you asked. Taking your hands from behind your back you placed a stuffed rabbit, you had been carrying, in his hands. His eyes opened once he felt the contact of the fur. “Surprise!” You said with a grin as you studied his expression. “I… Thank you…” He said softly as he looked down at the stuffed rabbit. You hummed and walked closer to the shrine, you started to round up all the campers stuffies, there was about four. “I figured you probably wanted to do an offering today, so now you can…”
He just starred at the rabbit and hummed softly. “Yeah… Thank you.” Holding all the campers stolen plushies you smiled. “Anytime. I gotta go return these now.” Octavian only nodded as he briefly looked up to you. You then started to leave the shrine. Octavian watched you with his lips formed into a tight line. He didnt understand this feeling he had… Feelings, there were multiple, all confusing and different. He looked back down to the stuffed animal and sigh. Mentally apologizing to his dad as he left the shrine. He went to his cabin and set down the rabbit on his bed. There it sat, undisturbed and intact.

Anyone wanna reblog this to make a funny crackfic(maybe?) abt Octavian? SOMEONE FIGURE OUT HOW HE WILL BE KIM POSSIBLE! I'm bored. Its from Octavian's pov, he was resurrected instead of Leo. Js so yk, I haven't read a lot of HoO so this might be confusing for all of us :]] Here's the start.
It turns out, I was brought back to life by the Physician's Cure. Thank the gods. I hated the Underworld. But here I am. Somewhere I don't know. I'm in the forest, I hear ocean waves.... but this isn't California... oh my gods. I see kids walking around the place in bright orange tee shirts. Oh no. Not here.

“Funerals and stuffies”
Octavian and Lavinia fic!
➴➵➶➴➵➶➴➵➶
Lavinia walked into the temple where Octavian was and started throwing stuffies from her bag at him.
“Ow- Lavinia! Stop-“ Octavian attempted to get her to stop.
She did not stop.
After she’d thrown all the stuffies she’d made she walked over to help put them in his box for augury’s.
“I made a few,” she said.
“Yeah, thanks, Lav,” Octavian responded, still slightly annoyed from be attacked by stuffies.
“Do you need help with anything?” She asked.
Octavian looked at her suspiciously. “You? Helpful?”
“Listen, Octavian, bestie, I need an excuse not to march 5 miles in full armor,” she said.
Octavian laughed. “I get that, I could say I needed an assistant for some augury’s and you were best choice, considering you made the sacrifices,” he offered.
“Deal!”
“Awesome.
“You should do live animal sacrifices,” Lavinia suggested.
Octavian stared at her. “…what?”
“Since people complain that you’re killing stuffies, you should do animal sacrifices instead, like the old days,” Lavinia explained.
“That idea can go in the maybe pile,” Octavian responded.
Lavinia shrugged, sitting down on the steps to the altar. She started crocheting.
“What are you making?” Octavian asked.
“A frog,” she said.
“Why?”
“You’re gay,” she shrugged.
“What????” Octavian stared at her.
Lavinia just shrugged.
“I will never understand you.” Octavian sighed.
“Good. Want any gum?” Lavinia asked. Pulling out gum from her bag.
“Depends, which gum is it?” Octavian questioned.
Lavinia rolled her eyes. “Hubba bubble.”
“You’re carrying decent gum? Where’s the real Lavinia and what have you done to her?” Octavian joked.
Lavinia huffed. “I hate you.”
“Love you to,” Octavian teased.
“I’m not sharing my gum,” she said.
Octavian rolled his eyes. “Shut up for a minute I got future telling to do.”
“You do that.”
A few minutes later Octavian tossed the remains of the stuffies in the pile of dead stuffies.
Lavinia glanced at the pile. “Almost time for a mass funeral for them, ain’t it?” She asked.
Octavian nodded. “Yep.”
“Think anyone will actually come this time?” Lavinia asked.
“Does anyone ever?” He countered.
Lavinia sighed. “They all complain about you killing animals but don’t show up to the funerals.”
“I know! It sucks,” he said.
“Il make posters.” Lavinia stood up.
“With what?”
“Crayon!”
Octavian sighed, he couldn’t remember why he was friends with Lavinia, but it certainly made his life interesting.
The posters sadly proved ineffective. Octavian and Lavinia held yet another stuffie funeral on their own. Octavian said the rites and Lavinia lit the fire, burning the dead stuffies.
They ate lunch by the fire, a traditional last meal with the fallen.
Life with Lavinia as a best friend was never boring, and life with Octavian as a best friend meant you attended weekly funerals.
➴➵➶➴➵➶➴➵➶
They are friends, and they scare everyone

i might make a Camp Jupiter centric royalty!au fic, would you guys read it if I did? Reyna as the queen, Jason as the grand Duke and Octavian as the sneaky minister conspiring to take Reyna's position, and I might make Leo/Connor/Travis as the court jesters who moved from the camp half blood kingdom aswell 👀 but the main focus will be on camp Jupiter
this idea has been on my mind for a very long time bc camp jupiter always gave off royalty vibes.

Found this torringrace arranged marriage au ficlet in my notes; which I have shared in the server but not here before so! Enjoy :D
Jason was gone.
Alabaster took shaky breaths as he leaned backwards, his back against the walls of his mother's temple. With trembling hands he undid the pins holding his toga together, letting it pool around his waist and reached to the top of his head to slid his circlet off. The metal shone under the sun gracefully. Alabaster scoffed, throwing it to the ground.
Jason was gone. Missing. Alabaster had woken up completely alone this morning, alone like he hadn't been in months. He had looked for him through the entire city before he ran into some of the senators doing the same, and getting dragged to an impromptu senate meeting... interrogation really, not that he was listened to.
His lip curled. He was used to people yelling about him but not to him by now. It was only going to get worse from here now that Jason was gone. His heart did a somersault; one of the only good things about this entire place and he was gone. And well... there was another reason his heart was aching too; he could feel blood rushing to his cheeks.
He stiffened at the figure climbing up the Temple Hill. Octavian idly sauntered while whistling, arms full of several stuffed animals. Alabaster scrambled to place his circlet back to its place.
"Don't even bother," Octavian snorted, "I doubt he's coming back."
Alabaster's head snapped up. "He is not dead!"
Octavian hummed, raising an eyebrow.
"I didn’t kill him!" His palms were clammy, his voice too screechy to his liking. "I swear I didn't—"
"Oh please, of course you didn't. Jason might’ve been a soft hearted fool but he is not dumb. Besides when would you even have the time? What with how you're trailing after him like a puppy all the time."
Alabaster wanted to wipe the smug look off of Octavian's face.
"I thought you were a general?" He rolled his eyes. "Surely you're not unfamiliar to political assassinations?"
"Who–" Alabaster started before it hit him- "Reyna wouldn't do that." He hissed.
Octavian gave him a what would be a pitying smile if it weren't so damn condescending. "Sure, now if you'll excuse me, I have a son of Jupiter to look for."
Asshole. He knew Alabaster did not have any power whatsoever to 'excuse' anyone. He stared as the augur walked away. A hysteric sob tore itself out of his throat as he threw his head back.
Where was Jason?

A fic about Neptune and Percy, and the wrath a genocide can bring (and Nico, yay!)
Gotta recommend bc even though I'm quite familiar with Chthonic children getting massacred (courtesy of Happy, thank you btw), Camp Jupiter with its animosity towards the water gods certainly is an equally thrilling concept.
