#hiendrepost #Repost @oceanwayaudio ・・・ Making both these albums was an exceptional privilege. To be honest I would have paid Joni to work on these records. Larry Kline who produced these albums had been a friend and client for years and we had worked on numerous records together including two Freddie Hubbard albums. I had met Joni but these two albums were the first time we had worked together. Joni has a great sense of seeing the whole picture. Wayne Shorter and Joni have had a long friendship and musical relationship and we were overdubbing a solo on one of the songs. We did about about 11 takes and I was beginning to wonder where we were going. After Wayne left Joni explained that Wayne rarely completes a complete musical thought in one take but over many. Joni had taken copious notes and had already decided every edit point and section we were going to use. I finished the comp and it was amazing. It sounded like one effortless take. I learned a great deal from Joni working on these two albums.
