maybe a small bag of candy / candy that you like but wouldn't normally buy for yourself?? that way it's like a treat for you regardless of whether the trick or treaters come :D

both very good options tbh, I have been weird about eating lately but maybe I really can find something I like to eat. I would honestly love giving it all to one kid/one group but then I’d be back at being sad for not having candy for anyone else

i have a topic of discussion for the institute of niall studies, what does niall miss most now that he's on hiatus that he didn't expect to miss? i wonder if niall is the sort of person who enjoys passive company. you know just doing your own thing in a the same space as someone but not really actively hanging out. or maybe he just misses a pair of socks that got packed up in harry's stuff and he hasn't had a chance to swing by and pick them up.

WELL. Well. Let me tell you a thing. 

We know for certain that Niall misses the regimen. He misses his days being mapped out ahead of him and knowing where he’s meant to be and when he’s meant to be there. He misses the floaty exhilaration of bending the rules, not being where he’s supposed to be, doing something he’s not meant to do. When you’re living your life without any real schedule, taking moments for yourself and doing what you want loses its sheen. It doesn’t feel as special when there’s not a hundred people making demands on you all the time. 

Maybe life feels a little too BIG and vast and open-ended right now and he misses the way things used to be small so much of the time. Small rooms, small bunks, small chunks of time, small tables backstage he’d sit around with small groups of friends, small hotel rooms that used to make him feel trapped but were a comfort in a weird way too. Niall gets claustrophobic but maybe what he misses most is confined spaces. 

And YES. I absolutely imagine that Niall appreciates passive company. It’s why he’s never lived alone. Why he’s got a roommate even though he absolutely doesn’t NEED a roommate. Sometimes I imagine Niall as the sort of person who can’t really relax unless there’s someone else there, existing in tandem with him. On tour, it was Harry. Harry was always just there, loitering in Niall’s hotel room, mucking about, making a nuisance of himself because Harry doesn’t like being alone either. 

Niall has Willie back home, and I’m sure that’s a comfort, but maybe he misses the particular way that Harry occupies the space next to him. The way Harry would tell long rambling stories that didn’t require any actual attention from Niall...that became a sort of soothing white noise in the background. He misses the way Harry would sit in the bathroom while Niall showered and drone on and on about his shoes or something he ate or a conversation he had that morning or his favorite scrabble words. 

Anyway, YES. Basically Niall misses Harry. I feel it in my deepest heart of hearts, amen.

if you were a 1d song you would be write you a song. it's soft and kind and welcoming. it sound like that feeling when someone opens up their arms so that you can hug them. it's whispering affirmations to someone when you hold their hand. it's gentle but sure of itself. you can hear little scuffles and other noises in the background because it's raw. runner up choices were kiss you, dfwyb, and home. :))

ok so after i tagged that taco sign with nourry i started thinking about an au and it got a little out of control so now i’m going to share my taco shop au with you.

so louis gets a job at a taco shop in high school. works there for a few years. he surprises everyone by sticking around and not quitting or getting fired and makes his way up to be a supervisor. he’s good at his job because the manager actually gave him a chance instead of assuming he’d be a write off because of his tattoos and sharp tongue. he’s good under pressure and a good at leading a team and he’s not afraid to put his foot down when rude customers give some of the newer workers a hard time for messing up or being slow.

niall starts as a dishwasher and also helps with food prep. mostly just chopping stuff and peeling stuff but he enjoys the hands one work and the manager retcons if he sticks around he could do more chef work. he’s in town for college and he gets the job over he summer because he needs to save up for his gap year. he misses home so he focuses really hard on his work so everyone loves him. of course he loves louis too. because louis is hilarious and patient with niall when he’s learning how things work. louis loves niall because he laughs at all his jokes and always comes to work with a smile and hums songs as he does his job.

harry has been around longer than niall but not as long as louis. he’s a server and he’s amazing with customers. he manages to get along with almost every customer from the local college kids to every senior citizen who sets eyes on him. he’s clumsy and slow which louis found frustrating at first but he’s so good with people no one cares that there order took longer than expected as soon as he brings it over and starts chatting to them.

liam works part time as a grocery delivery guy and part time as a lifeguard and because the taco place is near the beach he’s around a lot. they always offer him A free taco when he’s delivering food and he always makes sure they get the freshest produce. he usually leaves their stop for last so he can hang around and chat.

zayn starts coming in all of a sudden in the summer and at first louis isn’t a fan because he thinks it’s obnoxious to sit in a taco shop doodling and writing or doing whatever he does in his notebooks. however everyone else loves him and one day louis gets to work and the chalk sign outside looks better than ever and when he asks who did it niall points to zayn. louis wants to be mad because “you can’t just let customers do our job niall!” but he has to admit the surfing taco and skateboarding burrito looks sick so he tells lazy he’ll get a free taco for every time he does they chalkboard and suddenly zayn is in there twice as much.

this could work with literally any pairing or ot3 and ot5 (but then again what doesn’t work for ot5). but imagine niall trying to watch out for zayn from the kitchen and trying to time his lunch breaks so he can watch him draw. he doesn’t mean to creepy but zayn is just really fascinating. at first louis is jealous. not because niall is entirely missing his mouth as he eats because he’s making heart eyes at zayn all lunch but because he loves nail’s attention and worries that niall won’t walk him home after work or laugh at all his jokes if he’s so focused on zayn. but as zayn grows on him his jealousy softens and he realizes that niall will never run out of love not matter how many zayns and louis he has in his life.

maybe louis ends up falling for liam. he doesn’t realize at first until he’s talking to harry about how niall keeps giving zayn free stuff and is always peeking out from the kitchen to see if zayn is there. so harry points out louis is always giving liam free stuff and watching him bring in produce. louis insists this is because he appreciates liam bringing them the best produced and he watched him to make sure he does his job right and harry just nods and smiles and takes a sip of his cold brew coffee.

and of course they all become the best of friends. zayn fully wins louis over by bringing him some weed for after his shift and they make a habit of sitting out back watching the sunset smoking a joint. liam tries to teach harry how to surf (because harry thinks he’s finally found his sport) but he’s almost twice as clumsy on a board as he his on his feet. harry tells niall lots of stories about his gap year and niall takes notes of places he should visit and things he should do when he’s there. somehow they all go from being coworkers and customers to being good friends and if they aren’t hanging out at the taco shop they’re at the beach or at someones house or playing football in the alley behind the store. maybe they get a little tired of eating tacos but they never get tired of each others company.

they all get a tiny taco tattoo at the end of the summer so that even when they part ways to go to school and to travel and to start new jobs they take a little bit of each other with them.

ok i’m sad and hungry now so i’m going to go find the closes thing to a taco in my kitchen.

also tbh, not to be biased, but this should totally be a slow burn zarriall and i would welcome a part 2

well now I can combine the two and say that ron swanson definitely could not live off of one of harry’s jackets for 6 months. hed be able to pay for his whiskey for a good 9-11 weeks though.

you give off the vibe of having a lot of good stories. also the sort of person who would have a lot of types of beverages in their house (like different teas and coffees and beers and just a diverse range of options).

I have many teas and lots of coffee and a variety of beers that I have bought and also orphaned friend beers but in general when you’re over at my house you’ve got a choice of a nice floral IPA or a water beer (ala Rainier or Pabst). You are invited to come to my house and drink my beverages anytime.

I’d like to think I’ve got good stories! I’ve accumulated lots of good ones. I don’t know that I’m the best at telling them since I’m a weird rambler, maybe they’re better in writing.

my dream niall fantasy is getting home from work and he's making me a really nice dinner. it's a total surprise. he also promises to do the dishes. he knows if i'm in a mood where i want to chat a lot or if i just want to watch him do his thing in the kitchen. he's got a nice new beer for us to try with dinner and we find something to watch on netflix without scrolling for half an hour. it's all very easy going and i probably fall asleep on him on the couch by 10.

This is so Jebet and this is so Niall THIS IS REAL AND TRUE. Nebet is the realest. Also I LOVE the part where you go to bed at a reasonable hour because #same. In my wildest dreams, Niall is a chill bro who also loves going to bed before midnight.

I think you are a huge positive. Like idk that sounds sorta lame and a little like ‘you are such a great person’ blah bla blah but really, I think you are so genuinely just bright! The beauty that you see in things and the way you spread laughter and happiness! Having to try really hard and work really hard but making it look fun! Those are things that I can only ever do on special occasions, that are incredibly hard to be and do and see and make. I always smile when you are online, my days are always a little brighter with you in them. Which again sounds clichee but the way that I see you online and I see you navigate your life (or the bits that you tell me of it) even in boring and tedious and stupid things, when the flame kinda burns low and it’s hard to be all that bright and happy, you still have such a bright aura around you. I don’t know how else to put it, but it’s just so permanent, even if it changes shape and color sometimes. I think you are a very strong person for being able to have that.

strawberry is what I secretly think

I am secretly a bit protective over you i think. i want to kind of shelter you from things that you probably dont need sheltering from and definitely dont need sheltering from from some weird person on the other side of the world. Also I really wish I could hug you, I feel like you give great hugs.
