Whalemack!

He’s a gray/grey whale, very nice and VERY big (though about half the size of a blue whale). He’s been mostly solitary for a while, sometimes joining other whales on their migrations, but then he starts collecting little mer children that make travel hard. I’ll probably add some scars from boats/etc to this design. And we need to figure out if mers have tattoos 🧐

I made this second copy of my shark hood in time for ANE earlier this year, and here I finally am posting it up for sale! The first one I made I went for a slight pearlescent finish, which turned out not to show up that well, so this time I dropped it and just kept it blue. It's also a bit darker this time, and I think the gradient to a lighter underside went quite well!

Nell is an anthropomorphic child hybrid of a dog and a shark, being gray in color with a dog's head and paws but also having a shark's tail, teeth, and gills. She is frequently seen in the company of the system's caregivers, as she is rather dependent on them and gets anxious without them. As a child, Nell is much less self-conscious about asking for help, and ey sometimes asks others for help on other headmates' behalf if they're having a hard time doing so. While Nell's apparent age is about 11, ey also age regresses to a toddler's or even baby's age. This is very often a stress response, but after getting over the initial stress, ey enjoys eir regression. Other headmates often find em cute and comforting to be around. As a shark, she enjoys water, especially taking baths.

43. Favorite book you’ve read recently?

I did not read a lot this year, but I'll say the first two volumes of "The Summer Hikaru Died"! It's about a high schooler whose best friend died and ... something? came back as him, and he's trying to deal with it. It's horror and it's very good so far!

45. What’s something you wish you had more time for?

Everything? Joke aside, I wish I had more time to sit down and draw. Most of the other things I enjoy doing I can do while multitasking (even reading and writing on my phone I can do while walking), but drawing I need to really settle down and I could do with more hours for that. Also, I guess, my chores but w e l l...

67. Do you keep any stuffed animals on your bed?

DO I. Yeah, I love stuffed animals and I have ... a few ... I have a little yeti, two penguins (one you can heat in the microwave), a big bunny, a small bunny, two buns bunnies, two mousemoths, an Eeyore, two very tiny bats, aaand a small owl (my baby brother has her sister) and black Mokona (my other brother has the white one). And everyone lives on the bed.

favorite character in ocean explorers club... GO!!

Pup hi thank you for indulging me by asking this.

Okay! there's 4 (main) characters in ocean explorers club (OSEC). Ursula, Max, Jai, and Genie. They're all so very awesome but my favourite has to be Jai!

(slightly long ramble beneath cut, incorrect character analysing)

Jai Bartholomew Sighn, otherwise know as Jai. In the beginning of the book he is a big rule follower; as in, dude has never broken a rule in his life. He's the most accomplished explorer in his age group ever, having over 10 medals for acts of bravery and the likes.

However! over the course of the (3) books, he becomes more and more willing to break rules if it will help people, (eg. refusing to return to the club in order to save a kidnapped person)

Also the reason that he is so 'perfect' all the time and the reason he tries so hard to get recognised, is in order to please his dad (who left him and his twin (Genie) a couple years back) He has no contact with him, but thinks that if he's successful enough, their dad might come back.

However! throughout the books, he slowly learns to move on. One of my favourite scenes is during the last book, when Max, Genie and Ursula are sad about their adventure being nearly over and having to back to the club (as all three of them aren't allowed to be explorers for a variety of reasons). Jai, (the only one who is an official explorer) ends up saying, much to the shock of the other 3, that if they can't be explorers he doesn't want to either.

Of course they get accepted in the end, it is a children's book after all, but Jai goes from desperately clinging to onto any connection to his father, to saying that he'd prefer to be with his friends than a club that doesn't accept them.

Also he really (REALLY) likes cats and is very good with them. He also has a collection of Plankton and has several hundred facts memorised (perks of having a photographic memory).

Anyway, I think he's pretty neat :3

I'm just imagining mers basically forming pods of different types of mers. Like Megatron, going against his generally solitary species, forms one.

And him just having pups with several of them. Probably picked up Starscream, for example, while they were both still fairly young. Totally got Dreadwing and Skyquake from him because there's only so many twins to go around. And then Soundwave. Shockwave. And so forth.

Vehicons as like, sardine type of fish? Basically only they can tell the difference between themselves.

And then he takes over part of the ocean.

This was kinda my idea with the shark nursery baby pooling system? Just a bunch of mismatched children. He's got a pretty fair range of territory imo, with it overlapping with //several// other mer's (such as the dolphin mers or Optimus's!) Which definitely gives us a lot of diversity!

I can also seriously see Ratchet developing a pretty strong friendship with the dolphin mers (Roddie, Bee, Jazz, and perhaps more?) And definitely interacting a lot with Optimus oh definitely.

I feel like we can make him being oddly social compared to the other megalodon based sharkformers a ~thing~ and it'd be intriguing to explore? I could tbh say the same for Optimus, as I'm fairly sure mosasaurs are also typically considered to be a solitary species?
