designing the big foe going toe to toe with Apollo and settled on deciding between two foes: Sable and Cairo.

Sable is an older blue roan stallion who has long-since established his family line before Apollo was even standing on all four. He is aggressively protective of his kingdom in the northwest corner of the protected lands. While too old to seek a fight for sakes, he has far more experience than the young paint stallion, and will not back down when challenged. 

Cairo is around the same age as Apollo, desperate to prove himself, and has the bull-headedness to challenge an even match head-on. Visitors clamber for their cameras when Apollo makes one of his trips down to the scrublands out of the foothills, as there is likely a guaranteed fight to break out if the bachelor catches wind of his rival.

Wanted to do a redraw of the color palette ask with Sable’s actual color scheme. Spent way too long on the outline and coloring that when it came to shading I kinda did a rushed job...but anyways...Voila!

I would like 1, 4, 9, 10, and 13 for Sable? He's the Roan stallion you mentioned earlier right? I love roans and I can't wait to see some art of him :O

WHITEROCK GULLEY 20 QUESTIONS

Oldest man west of the flats.

1. How old are they?

Sable is guesstimated to be in his early to mid 20s. He's still rocking it as the leader of a decent-sized herd of mares, however photos taken of the stallion recently have inferred to the possibility of blindness in one eye or a development of cataracts. Regardless, his body condition is doing well, and clearly he has yet to lose to a younger stallion.

4. What is their personality? Any quirks?

He's fairly ornery -- some of his children, such as Seven, have had a hint of his meanness in them. As a young stallion he was a nightmare; most of his matches were fatal, and he quickly had a reputation where most bands either gave him a wide berth or cleared the area completely. The one and only horse to ever not only put him on his knees, but completely stun him into staying down, was Zeus.

In his older age, he has matured considerably. He doesn't go to pick fights, but he will finish anything that's started, even if it is no longer to a fatal point. He's a very protective, loving family member to his band, and has been captured gently playing with his yearlings.

9. What are their genetics? What do they pass on to offspring?

Sable is Ee/aa/RnRn. He passes roan off to all of his offspring.

10. If they had a discipline of choice, what would it be?

This guy is big and burly, and honestly I'd guess in his prime if he wasn't a super illegal fighting horse he would be good at being a cowhorse or maybe even at pulling weight. Now I think he'd love to be a fat pasture horse (though free he remains).

13. What is their general relationship with humans?

Generally, Sable's actually pretty chill. His bastard reputation applies mostly to the horses in the Gulley. Whereas Apollo actively will tree fan unfortunate hiker for getting too close to his family, Sable will stand and observe. If he feels like his herd is being threatened or there is danger afoot, he will naturally display warning signs and escalate, but his territory doesn't cross into a lot of human foot traffic. His long standing presence in the Whiterock Natl Park has made him a fan favorite, old man that he is, and people like to take photos of him.

Well, I wouldn’t say I have anything exactly like that, but Sable once had arranged the death of a high ranking agent that she didn’t like, by sending him off on a mission where he was run over by a stampede of angry Tauntauns.(Also arranged by her, she sent Jin Woo to rile the animals…very Lion King-esque)

7. If you could “borrow” one aspect of your muse and apply it to yourself or your own life, what would you borrow?

Honestly, umm…practically nothing seems appealing other than like the fact that she has really high standards? I mean if I had high standards, I would be able to achieve more and not be this lazy little shit that I am right now.
