Backstory: CW: torture

Being raised in the Enclave, Maddox was an excellent scientist. Ruthless and obedient, he doesn't talks much about his past while he served the Enclave, however, there are quite a lot of rumours about his work regarding pain tolerance and dubious torture methods to extract information from prisoners. Having studied to become a neurologist, he ended up not becoming an actual doctor as he prefered his side job way more. His interest over supermutants and ghouls along with other creatures made him desert to pursue his own research, however, he ended up falling in the hands of the Brotherhood of Steel.

Loosing the sight right eye during an interrogatory, he would meet one of his fiercest rivals, whose encounters with would become more and more violent. The spark of pure hatred between Sergeant Red and Maddox branded their relationship, as for once, Maddox was experimenting the same torture methods he used to do with Enclave prisoners over himself. Sergeant Red, frustrated by his lack of reaction, decided to take him to the desert to finish him off. After his legs were broken, Maddox was dropped in the middle of nowhere.

As the luck seemed to be in his side, Maddox crawled away until a group of Followers found him. Staying them for a while, he ended up recovering. As soon as he was able to walk, Maddox fleed, seeking for a new place to stay.

Stumbling upon an empty vault, he settled there to start his new proyects. While his favourite subjects are human, he prefers if they belong to the brotherhood of steel or to the legion.

Au: After a last meeting with Red, Maddox would be torn to pieces. Using a vial of his latest research, which combined FEV with cazador DNA, he became a manbeast.

Research purposes, I see... I think I'm putting this one under a cut because you've paired Hoe Central with the physical affection question, so let's stay on the safe side here.

🌵- How does this oc feel about physical affection?

Physical affection is Maddox's love language, and he seeks it out a lot. Doesn't matter if it's absolute strangers in a bar or people he considers close, he needs it. Most of his relationships are built on casual sex and little else. Things get a lot more complicated once there's feelings involved (at which point he tends to withdraw). Not that a lot of people know (because he wouldn't let them get emotionally close enough), but he has a tendency to go non-verbal on bad mental health days and when he does, he's doubling down on the physicality of his actions. That is, if he has let the person into his life far enough for them to be able to witness it.

Wyatt isn't too keen on physical affection outside of sex, or at least that's what he thinks. The truth is that he's never experienced much of it outside of that, and since he's always been the one in control when it got down to it, most of the affection he got out of that was fleeting at that. His dislike for it mostly stems from fear, fear that anyone who'd want to hug or touch him is just pulling a prank on him, or on a drunken dare. It's happened in his youth, and he's convinced himself that every physical encounter is gonna end like that if he lets it happen. The truth is, though, that'd he come to find that the occasional display of physical affection can feel rather nice... if he'd just allow it.

Remus is more or less comfortable with physical affection, but careful about who he's sharing it with, especially after the Second Battle of Hoover Dam. PDA isn't thrown around all willy-nilly, affections are shown when he has the time to fully focus on the one who's receiving them. It's about the ingrained need to keep up appearances, to not let people know who he's close with, not showing his weak spots out in public. He hid the true extent of his love for his wives when he was still in the Legion to protect them, and it's carried over into his post-Dam life. However, when he can be sure no one's around to witness any of it, he can spend hours on affections.

Hafiz is pretty big on physical affection and extremely casual about it. He's very tactile, a pat on the shoulder as a goodbye, a hand resting against the small of someone's back while he's walking past them, an arm slung around someone's shoulder as they're sat next to him, talking to him. It's so natural to him, he doesn't even notice he's doing it. This extends to romantic relationships as well, he always seems to seek a physical connection, be it brushing his hands against theirs while he's handing them the newspaper, or running his fingers through their hair while they're listening to music together.

🌾- How does this oc get along with people they just met?

Talking to Maddox is extremely easy and usually a fun, casual time. He's charming, a good listener and a big flirt, who seemingly always knows how to make someone feel wanted and heard, or how to play into their desires, or how to keep a conversation going when it's threatening to die down. Always up for a joke, things never tend to get too dark either. He's making sure they're staying carefree and superficial. Sometimes he can even be found at the center of a group of people, just infecting them with his good mood. Best of luck trying to get to know him, though, he's the king of deflection. Most people walk away from encounters with him satisfied and happy, only to return the next day in hopes of talking to him again, finding him gone, never to return. And no one seems to know who he really was or where he's headed to now. He just leaves people wanting for more.

Wyatt is an absolute menace during his first couple meetings with others. Rude, mean, patronising, sexist... just hellbent on offending the person so much, they hopefully run for the hills and don't ever think of coming back. He's the most comfortable in solitude, with no company but the sound of the waves crushing into the beach below his lighthouse. He doesn't even take the time to get to know people. They're just "the x with the y" to him. "The blonde with the saggy tits". "The tall one with the crooked nose". "The lanky one with the speech impediment". It doesn't matter to him. If he gets his way, they'll never set another foot on his property.

Post-Dam, Remus is closed off. Careful not to give anything about himself away, and short on the responses. It's not uncomfortable talking to him, but he's clearly hard to reach and avoiding certain topics altogether. He doesn't seem too patient about drawn out conversations either, often seeming like he's physically there, sure, but far away mentally. There's just something about interactions with people outside the Legion that he doesn't seem to fully grasp, the way that conversations are meant to go down, how everyone seems obsessed with the weather or why people constantly feel the need to bring it up. He's trying, though, he really is, and it's a slow progress, but he's getting there.

Hafiz treats strangers with a guarded kindness. He doesn't have anything to hide, but the Wasteland's made him wary of people who are just a tad bit too friendly with him. It's not that he side-eyes every stranger that he sees, it's just that he's very careful about sharing anything significant with them. He tends to warm up to people quickly, though, and it's not unusual for him to go from guarded polite talk to swapping tales of his journeys filled with loud, barking laughter within the span of a couple of hours.

🌟- Is this oc good at expressing themself through words or do they have to use other means?

Maddox has a hard time communicating his emotions and needs verbally, and prefers to handle all of his issues by himself. He's afraid of taking up space in people's lives, not considering himself worthy enough of that much genuine care and attention. It's making things a lot harder on his relationships than they have to be, and he has a tendency to straight up run away or skip town when situations regarding him turn out to be difficult. Most of his more serious communicating happens through small gestures.

Wyatt doesn't see the need to express himself, which is an issue to begin with. Things are just meant to slot into place, and when they don't, he just shrugs them off. It works for him, but less so for the people who care about maintaining friendships or relationships with him, or have a different approach to interpersonal interactions than he has. He does know how to use his words, if it's absolutely necessary, but most of the time he just doesn't feel like making an effort to use them more than once.

Remus is relatively good at expressing himself through words, a skill he's only recently learned. It's not always easy to communicate calmly (and more importantly without resorting to violence) but he's on the best path to fixing that.

Hafiz is good at expressing himself through words AND through other means. Tackling the issue at hand, talking things through before they escalate, it's what he prefers. He's usually the one to initiate the whole deal, and he's keen on finding solutions. Unfortunately, sometimes, he's just too focused on fixing the wrong problem.

Hmmmmm. If we’re just talking OCs, I’d say currently my top is: Maddox Hart (in all his forms-- Ethan and OG Maddox), Quinlan McNally, Seth Carter, Lindley Roman, and Isobella Rojas with honorable mentions to Wyatt Carter (who I never played in an RP) and Tony/Jake Moretti

11. Can you tell us about your favorite ship?

I feel like I have favorites for different reasons but like lbr, it’s been eight years and if Mandy asked if I wanted to do Quindeline in another town RP, my slut ass would do it. Quindeline is my favorite because assholes who care. But also Blackinnon............ because life if Marlene didn’t die and them raising Harry or just being in war era and having their tiny apartment to themselves-- BECAUSE IT’S THEIRS. And Wymelia.......... because the softest, most disgusting ship ever. And Suttox.......... because they always find ways back together and they compliment each other so well. Like they all are fab. I don’t know how to choose a fave. And who knows ask me next week and I could have a different answer since my ass goes on tangents. (Also, obvi I love all my ships so like, all of them???)

19. What do you miss about old roleplay? (Roleplay before 2017?)

SHORT ASS REPLIES, tbt when I could write a sentence for a reply and complain about it. Now I write a paragraph and feel bad about not writing more. But also, who didn’t love those giant ass gifs that had words on them that we used for starters with literally no text.

You Are My Dad - What is/was your OC's relationship with their parents like?

Both Karim and Malaika are still alive, and Hafiz's and Faiza's relationship with them is as good as always. Faiza became a courier to support them while they rebuilt their respective businesses and home, actually. She's the youngest out of their three children and an unashamed daddy's girl with an exceptionally good friendship with her mother.

Hafiz went through a rebellious phase in his teens, so for a while their relationship was a bit rocky, but nothing happened that couldn't have been fixed and they welcomed him back with open arms. Out of the three of their kids, he's probably the most removed from their roots. Not that either of his parents give him grief about it, though. He always has been and always will be their son.

So No Head? - What is your OC's temperament like?

Remus' quick temper is barely contained most of the time, because he barely had to contain it for all of his life. It played right into the Legion's plans for him. They had an easy time nurturing him into the big tough guy that they needed him to be to join the praetorian guard. After he deserts their ranks at Hoover Dam he has a hard time trying his hand at conforming to the social rules of the Wasteland, especially if he needs to stay polite about situations that he would have loved to escalate at any other point. More often than not he tends to snap or run out on patience.

Maddox has a passionate temper and - if justified - he's not afraid to act on it, but he's doing his best to keep it on the low most of the time. He'd rather remove himself from situations instead of letting his emotions get the upper hand on them, especially when he's around friends. Someone always ends up hurt somehow, physical, emotional, it doesn't matter. And it's never truly him. And he cuts deep in every sense of the word.

Welcome to Bible Study - Is your OC religious?

Wyatt grew up in a catholic household and his parents came pretty close to being religious zealots, which in turn made him identify as an atheist for a long time. Either out of spite or because he lost all of his beliefs after seeing what they can turn people into, that's not certain anymore. Gods were hogwash to him, religions social constructs made to control humanity. Full stop. That is until he saw and experienced things out there in the Wastes that he simply could not explain nor deny. He's still not keen on identifying himself as a religious man, but he's surely stopped claiming there's no higher power out there.
