Wayne has been a difficult point for me personally. It resides in the fact that he's a former grunt of team plasma- one that has mostly been sheltered from the world and thus, is still unlearning everything Team Plasma has taught him.
With Eva kinda getting a slight revamp to her backstory and personality, my mind always go back to Wayne. Like what's his deal. I've been feeling off about him for a while and Eva's changes just cements that for me. Recently I've just been. Thinking about Wayne. Nothing specific until I thought " what of Wayne was a fan of comics?" And that kinda....well it didn't open the floodgates but it did lead to a river of thoughts.
Like what if Wayne was somehow given comics during his time in team plasma. It would have to be discreet, of course, because I doubt TP would allow it ( outside forces influencing their followers and thus making them question things). But let's say Wayne practically grew up with them. His head was filled with stories of heroes and villains, high highs, and low lows. It was something he found joy in, but knew he could not express it to anyone. It was his little secret. Maybe N got a glimpse of that excitement though. I've been wondering if Wayne was one of the plasma grunts tasked to follow N around but I think he would be too young for it( he would have been 12 at the time). Anyway, comics ( and later movies ) would be something he is genuinely passionate about.
This is where a new train of thought comes to play: what if Wayne hides himself behind a persona much like the heroes of his favorite comic books? Like. On one end, literally, he literally becomes a masked vigilante, but! On a personal level, right? What if he presents himself as this outgoing, energetic person who aims to be as heroic as possible but is really a boy who is scared and riddled with guilt for his past, and who views himself as a coward. Nothing like the heroes he wished to be. This honestly makes me torn bc I still very much like the " Wayne is a bit more bashful and nervous and is kinda getting dragged into situations" but the " Wayne is trying to be like his heroes and thus presents himself as someone who he thinks he isn't ( but he is)". Maybe I can mix both? Wayne is trying to push this persona but can come off as Awkward bc of his natural bashfulness + still getting used to living in normal society.
In the end, Wayne realized that not only is he braver than he ever gave himself credit for, but also he is still very much a hero like the ones in the comic books....he's just been looking at the wrong ones. He's been looking at the heroes who are on the title screen, the ones that were hood from the start. But if he'd just advert his eyes a little ....he would find heroes with shady past. Heroes with a guilt that hangs on their shoulders. Heroes that didn't start off good. Heroes, that despite all that, try their hardest to do the right thing, despite their past. Over and over again. The Reformed Hero. That's what Wayne is. He was too blinded by the main show to see it.
Now. All of this is fine and dandy buuuuuut there's now an issue of Wayne's family. I've ...been growing to dislike the whole " clay adopts Wayne" thing. It's still very cute BUT I feel like it causes too many hiccups for the plot. I think, maybe, Wayne would know of Clay, probably interacted with him a lot and does see him as a paternal figure, but maybe was never adopted by him? Maybe he still had a parent left in his life? I'm still not sure.
But yeah! I think.... honestly writing this out genuinely helped me. I think I like this better than what I had before. This may also mean that Wayne gets a mom that's not shitty! Yippee!!!! So. Yeah! Thanks for listening to my Wayne ramble.

The only reason Hugh is familiar with Yancy and Curtis ( in their alias Nancy and Christoph) is because of Hana and Eva I think. He much prefers Roxie's music, but if his little sisters ( he considers Eva his little sis) like them, then he's already listening to their entire album and knows the lyrics of their songs by heart. If you'd ask him, he likes Curtis' music a bit more.
So imagine his surprise when he finds out that Wayne and Eva befriends the two idols. I like to think that Hugh didn't realize that Yancy and Curtis where the Nancy and Christoph that he would listen to, only to wake up in the middle of the night and go " that was fucking Nancy and Christoph "

I juuuuuust woke up and probably gonna go back to sleep but literally right before I properly woke up- like I was in that state where I was aware that I was awake but also not fully awake, you know- I thought about Wayne and Hugh. Like a mini dream sequence between these two. It was during B2W2, and it was at some point where Wayne got outed for being an ex-team plasma grunt. Naturally, Hugh is pissed since he still hasn't forgiven any parts of team plasma at all. And given the fact that one of his friends who he trusts used to be one honestly shatters in. He's hurt, but this is also Hugh,so he latches onto his anger and intensifies it.
Going back to the scene before I properly woke up, I remember Hugh getting a bit physical with Wayne, grabbing Wayne by the shirt and yelling at him, accusing him of secretly helping neo team plasma, or something horrible like that. And poor Wayne, who's scared and shaking, ends up saying something that would just piss Hugh off more: why can't you just let it go?
It's very lucky that Eva was there to break them just after that happened ( Wayne ran away immediately because why wouldn't he, he was being yelled at and was the receiving end of Hugh's anger AND was outed for being an ex team plasma grunt, the poor kid spiraling). Both fit Wayne's sake ( as I described before)and Hugh's, as Eva knows that Hugh was going to do something he would regret later. Though in the moment, Hugh is still pissed and confused as to why Eva was even protecting Wayne. This is where the "dream" stopped and I was aware I was awake.
Now this isn't exactly new to me- the sequence that I just described. It's been part of my vision for Legendverse B2W2 for like. A long while now. But I was thinking about it, probably because of chuggaconroy doing a let's play or b2w2 now. He was going to explain why Hugh didn't exactly hit as a rival for him until he reaches a scene where he kinda stops and thinks about Hugh's character, in which he realizes the depth that he has, which boosts his opinion of him. One thing that he did mention was how Hugh's parents talked about him to the player. His mom wanted the player to look out for him, in case he strays from the wrong path. And his dad literally did not want Hugh to go on a journey because he knew, they both knew, that Hugh has pent up rage that could be incredibly harmful not only to others but to himself. And I was thinking about that last part and like: yeah. Yeah they have a good reason to be worried. Especially with an oc who used to be affiliated with the people he hates the most outside himself. It's why the scene that I described happened.
Cause if there's one thing you should know about Legendverse! Hugh is the oldest of the trio. Hugh is 16 ( might change might not) Eva is 15 and Wayne is the youngest at 14. And as the oldest, and also simply by his nature, Hugh automatically viewed Wayne as someone who he can protect. Obviously, he still holds Wayne up to someone who has his back and he has Wayne's, but it's a lesser degree compared to Hugh and Eva, who knew eachother way longer. Still, for the most part up until that moment where Wayne got outed, Hugh has been nothing but kind, if a little intense, towards Wayne. Hugh considered Wayne a friend. And then all of that is the window when the revelation happens. Like it's so interesting to me. Like, yes, Wayne asking Hugh to let it go was not okay. But in his defense, the boy was scared and shaking and being yelled at ( which probably unlocked some unwanted memories) obviously wasn't thinking properly. And neither was Hugh cause again, he was going to get physical with Wayne even before Wayne said that. Like I don't know how to properly convey my words here, but you gotta understand how much this means to me. How this dynamic and this scene fascinates me.
Before I go, some context: the scene I described was in Nimbasa City, so before Hugh meets to other ex-team plasma grunts, which really kick-starts his development. And some context for Wayne: despite being an ex-team plasma grunt, he does not associate himself with the grunts in driftviel city. At all. He is actively trying to separate himself from Team Plasma in its entirety, which is hard cause he actually lives in driftviel city and the ex team plasma members are kinda his neighbors. Anyway, it's why Wayne, in his panic, asked Hugh why can't he just let it go, since it's something he's been trying to do since he was taken in by Clay. Though I would argue that Wayne hasn't let go at all either. He hasn't actually confronted his past, only assuming himself to be an awful villain.
One last tidbit, both Wayne and Hugh latch onto a certain emotion that kinda consumes them. For Hugh it's anger( out of guilt and self-hatred) and for Wayne it's fear ( out of guilt and self hatred).
#eva over here like ' can you guys not have some drama for 5 secon???'#not knowing that she's gonna get betrayed by Colress who she very much looks up to#legendverse#rival hugh#oc: wayne kikui#oc: eva ortiz

Okay yesterday I did the older protags so now for the newer ones! I consider B2W2 and XY as the bridge between the old and the new,so they're technically a mix of both!
Eva: Flighty city girl that's always wanted to travel across Unova. Has an interest in physical health, technology, and of course, pokemon! Was ecstatic when given the opportunity to get a starter. Only really did the gym challenge after Alder suggested it and to help Hugh achieve his goals ( or rather, to make sure he doesn't go overboard and too into his head). Rather quickly she found out she enjoyed battling a big deal! Wants to believe the best in everyone, but don't exactly favor dishonest people.
Wayne: An ex team plasma grunt that was taken in by Clay after the events of BW. Incredibly remorseful of what he's done ( he didn't do much as a grunt, but the guilt was still there), and thinks that the best way to make up for it is with work. Doesn't associate with the team plasma in driftviel city at all, wanting to cut all ties with his past. He's awkward, not having known much outside of Team Plasma and driftviel city, and is still getting used to the pokemon battling itself, but he ultimately has a good heart and wishes for a peaceful world.
Jude: Adopted child of Grace, Jude has hard cold walls around them with a knack for being rude. They don't desire friends, only really going with Sycamore's group cause there's a chance to be something greater. Has aura powers that they are desperately keeping down, thinking they already know the world and how cruel it already is. Has a soft spot for pokemon but it's hard to show it when they keep their emotions low. Despite it all, they have a strong sense of justice and care a lot, no matter how much they deny it.
Dante: The child of two veteran trainers,Dante is generally kind hearted, though he tends to have a bit of an ego, believing himself to be the most capable trainer of his friends. He simultaneously wants to live up to his parents legacy, while also moving away from their shadow, proving his own worth and skill. He holds himself at a high standard because of this, which makes it hard for him when his ego is bruised by Jude fairly quickly.
Amsonia: A selectively mute girl recently getting out of an abusive household with her mother, they always have their guard up. They are slow to trust no thanks to their past, only truly feeling comfortable around pokemon and her mom. She is fiercely protective at her young age, reluctant to even leave her mom alone to go on the gym challenge at first. Despite being so young, Amsonia had to grow up fast, though she slowly learns how to be a kid again.
Pua/Poppy/Ray/Sunny/????: ( Name still impending) An amnesiac that came from an ultra wormhole from a ruined Alola....not that they remember that. It was founded by Team Skull, specifically Guzma, and was under their care for a while....until Guzma sent him away to Kukui. He doesn't remember who he is, of why Guzma sent him away....but he's planning on making the most of it. Answers will come, eventually,so might as well go with the flow for now!
Naomi: A young girl in Curse-Chosen limbo thanks to an incident with her father, the original bearer. While the Curse caused him to be sick, it caused her to forget. Parts of her past are blurry, even when looking at them in present day. She's an incredibly shy and anxious girl, with low self esteem to boot, though she's much more lively around her friends. She only goes on the gym challenge for Hop, not even considering that she'll make it past the first gym. Despite everything, she has a good heart and wants to help out, even when she's scared.
Carol: Often seen as "the problem child", Carol is the bastard child of Chairman Rose, who only found out about their birth father recently. Mischievous, a schemer and very protective of those they care about, they would go to great lengths to not only protect their friends but get revenge. Does not view themself highly, however, convinced they just make others lives miserable, and tends to self sabotage when buckling under pressure.
Luca: An adventurous spirit, wanting to complete the gym challenge in Paldea the minute he heard about it from his Mom. Would have done it in Galar if it weren't for the darkest day having such an effect on him and his family ( his parents got divorced after their daughter was severely hurt during DD, which the father blames Luca for). Forever an optimist, and wanting to make friends wherever he goes, he's determined to help his friends and have an adventure he desperately wanted back in Galar.
R.B: A girl that's been through a lot, abusive parents, countless schools and countless bullies, Ramona has all but given up trying to be nice. Uva academy is her last chance, and she just wants to get it over with. She doesn't trust a lot of people, especially the school faculty, and prefers being alone, which is somewhat easier when she was given the title The Calamity in past schools. Though it's not all easy: her childhood friend no more is back in her life, much to her dismay and anger, the class president of the rival school is too nice to her, and even more so, a fellow new student is very eager to be her friend. Joy. Her plan to keep her head low and move along the school year is progressively getting harder to maintain
Now for the ages of these guys by the time of their respective games!
Eva: 15
Wayne: 14
Jude: 17
Dante: 17
Amsonia: 11
Poppy/Pua/Ray/Sunny: 11
Naomi: 15
Carol: 16
Luca: 13
R.B: 16
This time around the protags are a bit older compared to the older ones I've noticed. Ames and Poppy are the only ones that fit the older gems age range.

I'm writing the second part of the " my protag ocs as they were when their game started" with the newer ocs and I realized a different way of going about Wayne's backstory.
Now initially Wayne was found by Team Plasma from the streets, and thus adopted into the team at a young age. Now this isn't bad at all, but I propose a different look.
Maybe Wayne was born and raised within Team Plasma. Cause we know how Team Plasma was around before the events of BW, so maybe there's enough time for some members to start families and such? And Wayne was one of them.
This all kinda hinges on how long Team Plasma has been around, and given how it's likely that Team Plasma was around when N was about, say, 5 years old or so, possibly 15 years??? What I'm saying is that Team Plasma was around for a long time and families could have been had.
ANYWAY, this could make Wayne's and B's dynamic a bit more personal? Not that it wasn't personal before but I think a younger N potentially meeting a baby Wayne and from there a brotherly bond was formed could be cute. And it makes it all the more heartbreaking when Wayne tries to cut all ties with Team Plasma, even those that follow N. Before, with the "a young orphan Wayne founded by Team Plasma" backstory, Team Plasma was Wayne's family. But with this they would have been Wayne's family. If that makes sense. It kinda parallels N's story except this time, Wayne got out when he was young. N got out as an adult.
I'm still gonna think about it more, cause now this means I have to give Wayne parents, or try and give a reason why he doesn't( except for Clay. Clay's his adopted father).

Honestly I can see Elliot doing a lot of different things after swsh. She still works at the battle subway, but she honestly does a lot more community work too. She and Alexis perform at shelters, donate etc etc. Love Clay as a person and so grateful for what he has done for her and for others. Still hates his business and some of his work ethics.
I've been teasing the idea of either Naomi or the twins going into music professionally. Cause again, music is in this family's blood, I want them to express it, more than a hobby.
Going into the b2w2 duo, I'm not sure about Wayne. I know Eva eventually finished college and has a degree in mechanical engineering ( tbh, she was fixing the plasma frigade before , but she needed some proof that she could do it). But Wayne? He started out working part time for Clay ( delivery boy essentially) but after that? I'm not 100% sure. Maybe he takes up where Eva left off in acting. He already likes sci-fi movies and as time goes on, he becomes more sure of himself, more expressive. Maybe he goes into that? Eva has some Thoughts about that, but she's generally supportive. As for the Join Avenue, uuuuuuummm. I keep going back and forth on whether or not I want Eva or Wayne to manage it. Eva was the initial owner, but she started focusing on other stuff. Wayne is the adopted son of Clay who would definitely give him some tips about running a business. Or the both of them take up the mantle, idk. Whoever ends up in charge, I think it would be neat if they turn join avenue into like. A street fair? Local small businesses can sell their products, and there's some entertainment, and it's non profit. It would screw over the guy who gave Eva the job but whatever, that's what he gets for giving a business to a 15 year old.

thinking about Alexis and Wayne....
Alexis going from a desperate "I-I didn't ask to be a hero!" to a very defeated " I'm not hero..." vs Wayne going from " I want to be a hero, but I don't think I'll ever be one" to " I'm going to be a hero for myself and for others!"
I dunno. While Wayne isn't the hero of ideals, I always subconsciously associate him with it being just as much the Hero of Ideals as Alexis is. You could argue that he's more of one that Alexis, as he's striving to be the person he wants to be. It's really interesting to compare the two in that light.

I didn't go much into it, but this is my idea for the older plasma grunt that would give Wayne his comic books!
I've always seen her as the rebellious type, getting in trouble with the higher ups on Plasma often, but not enough where they kick her out/ "dispose" of her. However, because of this rebellious nature, she gradually saw through Plasma's facade, and realized " I need to leave right now". And she would have......but she wanted to bring Wayne with her. She tried to convince him to come with her, to have a life that wasn't dictated by Team Plasma....but he refused. So she left alone. Wayne never saw her again.
And uh. You know how I said that this plasma grunt never got in trouble enough to warrant getting disposed of? Well! Having a grunt run away from the team, with the risk of them revealing everything about the Teams true nature is not good! Not good at all! So she needed to be..... silenced. Permanently. She's dead, lol. Wayne wouldn't know this until much later. His comics are the last thing he has of her.......
#oc: wayne kikui#< again this will change#i feel sooooooo much better about Wayne than i did before#there's still things i need fo figure out though.

Wayne thoughts that I've had for the past few days
I think I'm gonna stick to the idea that he was born and raised by Plasma. Which means he has a loooooooooot of unlearning to do.
Grew up with this aspect of "good' and "bad". He was allowed to ask "good" questions, but not allowed to ask "bad" ones. When he did, he was punished, and was made to feel bad for simply asking. Afterwards, he was told he was forgiven, because they loved him. He forgave them in turn, because they were his family.
Heavily sheltered, but had one thing that connected him to the real world: comic books. They were given to him by an older grunt who was able to go outside of the castle. They were varied in genre ( Wayne's favorites being superhero ones and sci-fi). Wayne had to hide these comics, since they were taboo within Plasma.
Wayne looks up to N a lot. I wouldn't be surprised if he was his gender awakening. Either him or the male heroes in his comics. Or both. Anyway, there was definitely some worshiping going on, but that's probably goes for the majority of plasma.
After the main story of BW, Wayne's life shatters- for good reason. The family he grew up with ended up trying to take over the region with ill intent, the hero he worshipped, N, left without a word, and Team Plasma, his family, was scattered, with the looming truth that they were always the bad guys.
^ Because of his love for comics and the black and white teachings of plasma, Team Plasma being the villains means he was a villain too. And Wayne wanted nothing more than to be the hero. As a result, Wayne ended up diving further into his comics, while pushing away his team plasma roots out of shame and self loathing.
I still need to figure out how he ends up involved with the main plot but I know that bc of his desire to be like the heroes in his comics, he puts on a persona of this person who is all good, just and loud. He allow himself to pretend that he is like the heroes he admire. Does he actually believe that he is? No. He sees himself as a coward and someone who is Bad.
Little did he know that his persona wasn't really a persona. That his heart bleeds easily for those around him. That despite his past he still tries to be brave and help those around him. Little did he know he was a hero, just like he always wanted to be.
I think it should be said that wayne wears his heart on his sleeve. He will cry for others. He will have a burning desire to help those who need it. He is so sincere it's crazy and cruel to how Team Plasma had a hold of him before.
on a more lighter note to end this off: is a big fan of Brycen ( would read the shitty comics that were tie in to his movies) and was soooo nervous when Eva dragged him to pokestars studios and vouched for him to join her in acting. His Hero persona pretty much fell off, he was so nervous lmao ( Brycen was very nice about it. Even giving Wayne his autograph!)

Thinking about Wayne and Eva, I think it would thematically make sense of Wayne to get the Zorua from Anthea and Concordia, just bc of his connections to Team Plasma compared to Eva.
This would contain the honestly this odd detail of secondary protagonists having a dark type??????????
Aiko - potentially Tyranitar
Kiran - Honchrow
Elliot - Scafty
Dante - Absol
Ray - Incineraor
Carol - Weavile but that might change. But in general I see them potentially catching a dark type in their main team.
R.B - Hydregion.
Like?????? I don't know how I feel about this?????????? I think just for that I actually might change things like. I swear it wasn't intentional I am just noticing it.

Wayne's powers are fun cause while he was never Chosen by the other swords of justice, like keldeo, he was trained by them. So, like Keldeo, he mimics their own sword styles. It's why he has had three other swords, each from the other swords teachings. But , of course, like Keldeo, it's all fundamentally his own style.
So, essentially, I see Wayne as a dualist ( or whatever you call someone who wields 4 swords),while Naomi is someone who uses a single sword ( she's part of a pair. She's the sword and Hop's the shield). I wouldn't exactly say either is stronger than the other in terms of how many swords they master. Wayne does have the advantage of being a Chosen for longer and having 3 mentors. But Naomi is a fast learner lol. They probably train together in their spare time :).

Hmmm, maybe Wayne should take the gym challenge like Eva is. Clay put him up to it, saying he needs the experience. Cause honestly I don't have a lot of secondary protags that are taking the gym challenge with the main ones.
Aiko and Beryl didn't, Carol did only briefly, Kiran definitely did not, Kohaku wasn't interested either. I'm not sure about Poppy/Pua taking the island challenge in Alola, I'm still working on that, and R.B never took the gym challenge. The only ones that ever did were Elliot and Dante, and I think that's kinda a shame. So yeah, I'm having Wayne take the gym challenge alongside Eva and Hugh. He eventually grows into their rival! He still prefers not battling ( a pacifist I suppose?) but understands the positives that battling pokemon can bring. Okay! That's all. Wayne's gym challenger now :3

When you fucking realize you've been spelling Wayne's last name wrong for who knows how long now. Years I think.
I based Wayne's last name on Lian's japanese name: kikui( since Wayne was adopted by Clay and I thought Kikui would be his surname, with Yakon being his Japanese name or second name) I've been writing it as Kukui this whole thing. I have a tag that reads oc: Wayne Kukui. FUCK.
