decided to make a more updated/ detailed version of Olette's outfit. Pretty happy with the color scheme (also note that whilst D'Vorah, the only other Kytinn in-game is mainly yellow, Olette here is purple, ala opposite colors/ opposite goals.)

KHOC WEEK 2023 DAY 4: ALTERNATE UNIVERSE

Alright, so, Day 4 of @khoc-week ! Old af art, I didn't have time to redraw it, but the outfit designs hold up!

I had a plethora of choices for AUs with Kimbri, I've come up with a fair few over the years, but I decided to pull out an old favorite, my untitled Modern Fantasy Slice of Life AU! You might remember this setting from... I think it was Year 3? I posted a drabble about Vanitas vs The Gremlin at Exhaustion Departure, the coffee shop. Well Kimbri just so happens to work at Merlin's Books right next door in this AU! It's a magical place that holds WAY more books than it should be able to, while also playing host to it's own resident magical creatures, in this case mostly colorful pixies who live in birdhouses around the store! They're definitely a bit better off in this regard than their neighbors, lol. Other members of the staff include Merlin himself, Ienzo, another OC of mine, Lena, handyman Cid, who also owns his own garage down the street, and part-timers Pence and Olette.

Below the cut find a drabble I wrote set in this AU. Enjoy some warm, fuzzy goodness in:

Sweater Weather

Ienzo frowned as another strong gust of wind rattled the windows of the overstocked book store, causing the resident pixies to scatter back to their little houses. Judging by the drafts it caused, it was high time Merlin got the windows resealed, though he remembered thinking something similar around this time last year. Sighing, he tried to return his attention to the inventory sheets in front of him, trying not to shiver as a draft blew down his neck.

A few moments later the bell over the door rang, signaling someone's arrival, but he paid it no mind, knowing that if whoever it was needed help they'd come to the counter to get him. A moment later he regretted his decision not to look up when the only warning he got before his vision was completely eclipsed by something fuzzy and purple was the smell of salted caramel and espresso, the hallmarks of Kimbri's favorite drink from Exhaustion Departure. As he sputtered, startled, and fought his way out of his warm, lavender and vanilla scented prison he could hear his coworker and foster sibling giggling mischievously. Eventually he managed to pull the soft turtleneck over his head and turned to glare at the girl next to him in irritated confusion.

"Kimbri, what on earth possessed you to do that?"

"You looked cold." She shrugged with a grin. "Besides, I bought that for you, you always forget to bring a sweater when it first starts getting actually cold. I saw that the last time I went to the thrift store and it was just your size. Don't worry, I washed it twice before I brought it to you." 

Ienzo looked down at the purple sweater with an almost perplexed expression before finally pulling it the rest of the way on.

"Thank you Kimbri, I really appreciate it." He said once it was properly adjusted.

"No problem, what's family for?" Kimbri smiled again and took a sip of her drink. "Now let's have a look at these inventory sheets..."

Olette and her twin brother (yet to be revealed) is a rare hybrid of human and Kytinn blood. She was technically born here on Earth however and raised with her sibling by her adoptive father (whom like all OC parents, dies an untimely death).

She can blend in for the most part among Earthrealmers yet has always had difficulty making friends. Trying to find her own path in this world she's skeptical/ guarded around most but has a kinship with outsiders and those who feel misunderstood.

Although her story differs slightly between games, one thing remains constant: she is the more 'aggressive' fighter of her siblings. Often relying on her unique strengths and abilities as a half Kytinn hybrid alongside her smarts.

I created her in 2012! I just... never really did anything with her besides doodle in my notes one time and make a now incorrect bio about her.

I consider her to be a soft reboot of Kitana? They're both involved with Twilight Town, Olette is the first person they meet and they both beef with Seifer. It wasn't intentional at all but when I realized that I was like "ah. makes sense lol."

She likes to match with Olette! It's why there's a lot of orange in her design, its because of Olette's KH2 design. She'd be red-black as well once I play KH3 one day...

She's Afro-Indian.

Her family runs a delivery business and she's expected to take over it one day which she kind of resents as she wants to get into art or entertainment.

She has four younger siblings that all also have names that start with the letter N for some reason.

She's scared shitless of Fuu, who actually didn't do anything to her. It confuses everyone.

Mangos are her favourite fruit but it always looks like a crime scene when she eats them. It's terrible.

If Olette wasn't around, she probably would have hung out with Seifer despite how tsundere she is. Hayner and Pence are cool but they don't really tolerate her snobbishness as much as Olette does.

Would probably like Roxas if she met him properly. (Kitana was originally going to be shipped with him so I can't be not bias lmao.)

3 for the fanfic ask game!

3. What’s a fic idea that you have but haven’t written yet?

This is a hard question to answer.

I have a lot of fic ideas that I've not started work on. I have a lot that are going to be part of something bigger. I'll share one of each.

I would absolutely love to write out some of the things I've done in my roleplay server. Considering I have 170+ characters not including OCs in the Square Enix flavor, some wires are definitely crossed. A lot of them, probably. There's only three female KH characters in play who aren't mine. Because of this, I'd like to work on some of the interactions caught in the background- like Olette teaching Xion the art of photography, or Namine trying to recruit various former Organization members to her art club. Or Starbird shenanigans! Starbird shenanigans would be so fun to write...

In terms of facets of bigger fics that I haven't written yet, I plan on having corrupt/possessed Foretellers as a key part of Because You're Here's ending. This idea started with Ava on account of this song and has since been extended to the other Foretellers as well. The reason planned is that the Foretellers have the gift of eternity, but it's attached to the Darkness in the forest. With said Darkness eliminated, they lose control of what bound them to the world, becoming an amalgamation of themselves and the fragments they bore. To pass the leadership to their chosen ones, the Foreteller usually will need to die. The eternity they need to pass along is bound tightly to their life force, and in all cases but one, they're not parted slowly enough. The only surviving Foreteller only gets to live because of their replacement.
