CHEAT SHEET/ EXPLANATION FOR EACH CHARACTERS' TEAMS UNDER THE CUT

Let's start with yuriko, her team consists of a gallade, a combee, a bisharp, a rookidee, a gothitelle and her beloved furfrou. Since chess is a BIG theme to yuriko's character, i wanted each pokemon to sorta reflect each piece in a game of chess (minus the king bc i ran out of room). Combee is the pawn because in chess: pawns are the weakest piece and are kinda there to protect the queen in a way, similarly to how worker bees in a beehive tend to do stuff for the queen (not to mention that pawns actually CAN become queens in a game of chess, similarly to how normal bee larvae can grow up to become a queen if fed enough). Bisharp and rookidee are the bishop and the rook for obvious reasons, gallade is the knight and gothitelle is the queen (though tbh i also partially chose those two bc in yuriko's usual form, she is a danganronpa fan character, specifically a celesgami fankid and i kinda associate those two characters with those pokemon...albeit with celeste it's more or less the gothitelle line IN GENERAL) lastly i chose a furfrou bc that's the closest i can get to yuriko's goofy ass dog, gambit.....there are no borzoi pokemon i'm afraid

Also ngl whenever i hear gothitelle's name, my mind immediantly goes to cottonelle and i can't help but think of emo toilet paper...

Next with makeighlyn: her team consists of a sylveon, a galarian ponyta, an indeedee, a porygon, a spiritomb and an absol. I imagine that since makeighlyn's whole lore is that she's a flash game mascot turned demon slayer, she was probably given a sylveon, ponyta and indeedee by her creators (the sylveon representing her pet cat, angie) but ended up finding and catching a porygon after she gained sentience; when she became a demon slayer, the souls of all the demons she killed formed into a spiritomb and she caught that too and lastly she caught an absol to sorta let the demons know she's coming since y'know.....absol is said to be a bad omen....also yes, makeighlyn IS wearing may's contest outfit, it was easier than just thinking up an original pokemon universe design for her

For myrtle: her team consists of a zorua, a cubone, a banette, jirachi, a duskull and a zubat. Tbh i didn't really put that much thought into her team, i just picked the edgiest pokemon i could find....though with cubone and banette i just picked them bc they're infamous for having really dark pokedex entries and are a common sight in the more horror-oriented side of the fandom, and also i picked zubat bc it's the first pokemon i think of when i think of team rocket (aside from meowth, obviously) typically i prefer not to include legendary/mythical pokemon whenever i give a character a pokemon team for the sake of believablity though i just couldn't resist giving myrtle jirachi considering how much it fits with her backstory (normally, myrtle's story is that she randomly discovered she had reality-bending powers one day and abused her power so much it caused a dimensional merge; though since this is pokemon and humans don't have powers, i feel it makes more sense if she caught jirachi and abused it's wish granting powers)

Lastly for renée: her team consists of an altaria, a castform, a smeargle, a snom, a munchlax and a bruxish. Tbh i only really gave her an altaria and a castform as a sort of callback to the fact that renée is a bird (though i had to make her human for the sake of this challenge), specifically a pigeon-cloud nymph hybrid; so i gave her a cloud bird and a weather creature! Since renée is more or less a 2014 tumblr-esque hipster (a bit millenialcore i daresay), i gave her a bruxish bc i've literally never seen a single person who likes bruxish (i personally don't really care for it either way but like....LOOK AT THIS THING!!! IT LOOKS LIKE IT SHOULD BE HANGING OUT WITH THE BEATLES IN PEPPERLAND OR SOME SHIT)

Anyway, i also gave renée a munchlax bc tbh that pokemon SCREAMS millenials in 2014 tbh (like....fr you'd be hard-pressed NOT to find a millenial on the internet from that era making jokes about how much pizza and avocado toast they eat) i also gave her a smeargle to reference renée's love for painting and a snom bc....tbh i think snom is kinda overrated and i feel like renée would be the type of person to make that damn thing her entire personality so yea (also renée likes bugs so i had in incorporate that SOMEHOW)

Bruh that's literally most of my non-mundane believers universe OCs

Fangurl and choese (friends), alive and makeighlyn (roommates), myrtle and rue (friends), sprite and crumpet (adoptive siblings), pixel, poly and dot (found family)

Some of them even have pets and tbh i don't think they'd be the same without them (yuriko and crystalline with their dogs and deez with her squirrel)

Hell, i don't really consider these two to be my OCs but my OC kranch has two talking long furby companions (by that i mean whatever usagi and luna have going on in sailor moon) who are twins and ARE BOTH POLYAMOUROUS AND CONSIDER EACH OTHER AS A PACKAGED DEAL IN TERMS OF DATING

Like, BRO I JUST LOVE GIVING MY OCS SOMEONE THEY CAN HAVE WACKY INTERACTIONS WITH OMGGGG

Edit: yeah no i just remembered that a lot of my MB universe OCs come in pairs: minni and weedix (childhood friends with crushes on each other), violet and purity (girlfriends), purity and renée (twins), gray and lucy (siblings), gray and cierra (dating), juanna and cerise (sisters), azurine and renée (best friends), cierra and alex (siblings)

Tag the OCs that are a packaged deal, you don’t get one without also getting the other. (And, who they are to each other, romantic pair, twins, etc.)

Today..I fell down a cenote.. A big sink hole. I was too busy admiring the forest and making notes and I walked right into it... I had only just laughed at Alisaie falling into one..

Myrtle was quick to run for help. Though I think Myrtle gave Wuk Lamat a new fear in mandragora, little thing ran up to her screeching apparently she jumped into a bush: or so Erenville told me.

I am currently resting a rather swollen ankle, I rolled it on my way down. So I am taking this opportunity to write you another letter.

All the drama and adventuring aside, I am having a wonderful time. I shall need a new note book at this rate. I have documented so many different types of foliage and flora. I have been introduced to the market. Which has given me lots of chances to forage and craft new potions!

Fear not, your new recipe book is coming along well! I have sampled lots of local dishes..for research....

Aymeric read the letter again, he wishes she'd be more careful. He chuckled at the thought of Mizuki stopping ever few yalms to make notes and collect samples. This letter contained a little pressed flower, it was so bright and colourful, he would ask Mizuki about it on her return. He was eager to read the next letter but it had already gotten so late.

Did a much-needed redesign for Myrtle :]

Fun fact about slimecats: since they are full of Nutrients, if you stick a flower on a slimecat, the flower will stay fresh. The flower may also grow new flowers, which is why Myrtle has flower buds on her tail :]

For some backstory on Myrtle, she's a descendant of the Ancient (very big and very old slimecat living in the Southern local group). More specifically, she's the child of Flint, who is one of Ancient's pups.

Myrtle was born somewhere to the southwest of the vanilla regions, probably in a large region named the Hinterlands. Myrtle initially followed around a family of spidercats, which is why she has fangs and a round tail. She reached adulthood while living on an island named Devil's Hand. Since then, she's wandered from place to place. Her wearing flowers is a relatively recent development; she started doing that to blend in with Floracats.

God, where to even start?

TW: parental issues, discrimination, death, mental illness, mentions of teen pregnancy, smoking and spoilers for my original story mundane believers (if people even care...)

Juanna - her mom's the mayor, she didn't get enough attention as a child so she was forced to help her dad take care of her little sister and she developed an obsession with keeping people safe because of it. One day she went into the woods with her friend khilana, found a monster sanctuary and she decided to become a monster hunter because of it, somehow not realizing that the monsters were actually super chill and that she was being racist.

Weedix - is an anthro fennec fox who was born with two tails as a birth defect, because eugenics is pretty fucking huge in his society (and also part of the reason why the sanctuary exists) his parents constantly tried to make it look like he only had ONE tail and he developed social anxiety because of it

Violet - was the result of a one night stand while her mom was in college, her dad's a fucking asshole and didn't bother paying child support so she never actually knew him. Also he's half dinosaur so that makes violet one quarter dinosaur but she doesn't know that because she's mostly lynx

Purity - her mom's a cloud nymph who died while laying the egg containing her and her twin sister, purity's dad constantly told stories about how much a poggers person her mom was and she ending up being all like "oh wow i have imposter syndrome now, actually"

Gray - his mom was a kumiho and she fucked off over to the sanctuary after cierra's dad was murdered so that she wouldn't get killed, giving gray depression and he ended up making sadboy music on soundcloud to cope

Cierra - her dad was murdered for being a witch and she became super untrusting and shit because of it

Crumpet - was born in the woods all alone and had to fend for himself for several years before getting adopted by kris deltarune (i'm not joking)

Myrtle - had whatever the fuck kinda mental illness celeste from danganronpa had but like, instead of wanting to be super regal and fancy she was just emo. Also she had reality bending powers and used them so much she created a dimensional merge

Rue - is the result of teen pregnancy and was born half blind as a result, his family is homeless and lives in a world full of giant monsters who want to eat them so his parents are EXTREMELY protective of him to the point that he's blissfully ignorant to the world around him, also he was separated from his parents after myrtle started with the dimensional merge and had to team up with her to fix it

Pixel - was born with heart disease and literally fucking died while playing pac man so now she's a ghost who haunts an arcade

Yuriko - okay so basically she's the daughter of two danganronpa characters and since they're so rich and famous all people see when they meet her is JUST her parents so she tried to get really good at chess to try and prove to people she was more than her parents.....also she's sheltered, has no friends and picked up a smoking habit to deal with her mental illness...

Poly - was forced to live in the woods for several years because he's a giant computer boy and that's scawwy :(((

New sketches figuring out a redesign of Myrtle, who will be introduced in chapter 3! She is a courageous band manager, a sincere friend, tour bus driver and mechanic…this little hippie turtle (ask her about her time at Woodstock) does it all, and definitely deserves a raise. She needs assistance with her endless list of tasks, and she will find that help in the form of a certain small punk cat…

Geez....this is the 3rd drawing based on a song i've made since last saturday, what's up with that?

Anyways, i thought i might group up all my blonde OCs together and make something based on the blonde boy zone bc why not? (Though in this, it's the slightly more gender-neutral "blonde BITCH zone" bc choese is a masc-leaning nonbinary person and everyone else is female) Ngl i find it kinda amusing how yuriko and choese are the only adults in this image (yes, choese is an adult, he's 22 in fact. He's just really short, hence why he wears platform shoes)

Oh yea btw, i know i've already posted about this but i just want to remind you guys that i put together a google form where you pick between a bunch of character traits and i will design a character based on the most popular choices. This isn't even including the OCs who gain trauma DURING their main story (khilana, violet, presumably alex, cerise, lucy and rue) hell...I ALMOST COMPLETELY FORGOT ABOUT KRANCH, WHO EVERYONE THINKS IS ANNOYING AND IS CONSTANTLY USED BY PEOPLE SHE GETS ATTACHED TO; NOT TO MENTION SHE STRAIGHT UP GETS MANIPULATED BY HER CRUSH INTO ATTEMPTING TO MURDER A LITERAL CHILD AT ONE POINT!!!
