how they got their name for dani!!

Dani was the name I used for so many of my first ocs when I was a kid. Kind of like a flexible character I shoved in a lot of things. Making Dani was me really getting into ocs proper two years ago and in that process it finally felt that a solid use of the name. Her full name is Danielle, and I think it’s just soft enough for her. It also means “god is my judge” and I think that can fit well with her strong moral compass. Her last name I made because of the translation of verre from french as glass, so it was supposed to represent her spending her childhood watching the problems of the world and feeling like she’s not involved with it.

7. What’s the first thing that changes when they realize they have feelings for the other?

Dani tries to act more confident and gutsier, while Sabo gets on the protective side.

14. Who kisses the hardest?

Sabo, bringing 110% to everything for no reason. Dani will always be the more gentle type.

21. Who is more likely to start dancing with the other?

Dani is more likely to ask or try. If Sabo tries to sweep her away first, it probably means he’s procrastinating something else.

28. What do they do when they’re away from each other?

It's a very normal thing for them to be separated on different missions or jobs. Dani will just dive into her work, having some task assigned always feels right, especially when Sabo's gone because he's her reminder to let loose. Sabo has the risk of getting lost in his head without distractions, so chances are he'll find whoever is closest to bother and banter.

The special place my heart holds for them....is ridiculous. I go on about it every time, but give me similar backgrounds but opposite results. Give me the loud one ready to blow something up and the quiet one going “you’re doing amazing, sweetie.” Anyway couples that dismantle governments together stay together.

💞 Koala

Strong women encouraging growth, overcoming personal traumas, and kicking ass. Koala showed Dani around a lot when she first showed up at Baltigo and they’re different fighting styles means that they can work well together when they’re able to actually plan stuff out without Sabo’s impulsiveness.

💞 Dragon

Dani is high-key intimidated by him, but of course she is. What I like about their dynamic is that she does look up to him as a leader but their philosophies don’t really match, so conversations personal conversations with Dragon can be the closest Dani gets to butting heads with a person a lot of the time.

💞 Robin

Dani has a lot of respect for Robin and they spent a decent amount of downtime together during the two years. Their dynamic basically comes down to their routines having a good balance, and it’s nice to have someone awake with you in the early morning as the rest of the base wakes up.

💞 Her family

It’s hard to explain listing this, since the LaVerre’s exist solely in her backstory info...but I consider her relationships with her parents and siblings to be pretty important, since they lead to who she is today.

Oh my gosh, hello! The emotional high I got getting this ask - out of this world - I will take any and every excuse to go crazy over these guys. Allow me to unpack!  (this might get a little long lol)

I have 5 official one piece ocs and they are all part of a greater universe shared with @oc-daydreams (she got me into the show and her ocs were definitely part of that process). I’ll try to reel in my tangents, so for any old posts about them, here’s the link to my tag for all of my op ocs, ok let’s go:

Jasper Kodiak - I. Love him. Jasper grew up on the Sabaody Archipelago, where he meets and then joins the Heart Pirates. He ate a devil fruit as a kid that I call the truth-truth fruit, a paramecia that basically makes him a human lie detector. Makes him real handy on gauging new people, he knows when people are hiding something. A huge backbone to his story is his big annoying crush on Law and his complicated friendship with saraid’s oc Ophelia. Jasper also has a pet puffin he, just, picked up on an island and his name is Mango akljfda

Dani LaVerre - We have entered the zone for my Revolutionary Army obsession. Dani was my first one piece oc! She comes from a royal family in the West Blue, but inevitably leaves to join the rebels, where she ends up learning to be a sniper and work with the group’s weapons. Dani is rather quiet, and very polite, and has a bit of a mediator, peacemaker personality, so maintaining those values while finding her own freedom and her own will to fight is important to her. (omg i had to scroll back up to mention she’s a sabo oc lol how did i not say his name alkfdj)

Pedrina Salvatora - ...I once decided that if I’m gonna wait forever for Oda to give me the luffy mom backstory, I would make up one for fun, but like, she was supposed to stay a backstory. I have no control over this woman. Anyway, this is one of the founding members of the RA, she married the big boss himself, she has a very powerful guilt complex that’s like 19 years old now. The universe threw Sabo at her and she just had to accept that. She’s out here and ready to throw down at a moment’s notice. Also, I love her tattoos lol.

Carmen Aguilar - We’ve left the RA zone. Carmen is a marine with a penchant for nice rapiers. She trained under Vice Admiral Tsuru and now she’s usually out and about on her own missions. (Does she “coincidentally” run into Mihawk on the job quite a bit? Yes, but you didn’t here it from me). Also, her hometown is Dressrosa, which I just think is neat!

Wendy - I created her just about one year ago! From road trip boredom and my love for Water 7, my favorite island in one piece. She grew up there and therefore has close ties with the rest of the city’s cast. She owns one of those yagara bull rental stalls and any time Wendy needs a new boat for the canals, she calls on her buddies at Galley-la for a favor. What’s plot? She barely knows it, she’s trying to live her life lajfkdljfad

And that’s the gang! As for your other questions - I’d be happy to add you to the tag list! So far I’ve only had one for Everything, but if you’d like to be specifically one piece lmk! I’d be down for some crossovers, I’m still very new to that so I don’t have a list of ocs exempt from it or anything yet (some of them are stubborn yknow how it gets aljfdlkjdf) but i’d love to talk about those kind of hypothetical! Finally, here’s a link to my oc list, I’d definitely give that a scroll for all the fandoms, there’s 20 right now! Basically my brand is ocs for animated things (one piece, avatar, haikyuu, ouran, fairy tail, etc just to name a few) the only live action shows I have ocs for so far are game of thrones and glee lol.

yes! she takes her morals and manners very seriously.

she’s very down-to-earth and practical.

she wasn’t comfortable with herself, that’s why she left home in the first place. but as the story progresses she becomes more and more confident.

3. What is/was your character’s relationship with their father like?

Not deep at all. He spent far more time with her elder siblings and she was always told not to bother him.

6. Does your character have recurring themes in their dreams?

She dreams about her hometown a lot, just walking through the streets and the scenery. 

9. Is your character’s current socioeconomic status different than it was when they were growing up?

Immensely. Dani was born into the noble upper class, and joining a wanted rebel group doesn’t really guarantee the most steady pay.

12. In what situation was your character the most calm they’ve ever been?

Probably just most of her childhood. Her entire strategy to life back then was stay calm and do what everybody told her. At the very least it was when she appeared the most calm.

15. Is your character preoccupied with money or material possession? Why or why not?

Dani doesn’t particularly care either way for it, but she thinks if you have it, you should be using it to do good. She really doesn’t understand why some people go to such harmful extremes for greed.

18. Is your character more likely to admire wisdom, or ambition in others?

She leans a bit more towards wisdom because she thinks it’s a lot harder to find.

21. If something tragic or negative happens to your character, do they believe they may have caused or deserved it, or are they quick to blame others?

It depends on the event itself, but more often I’d say she’d blame others given the types of situations she’s usually caught in.

24. How quick is your character to trust someone else?

She tries to take a step back and observe before fully trusting someone, just in case there’s an ulterior motive.

27. How does your character normally deal with confrontation?

Her instinct is to retreat internally and just take it, but she gets better overtime at just calmly throwing her debate right back at them.

30. What does your character find repulsive or disgusting?

The abusive 1%. Oh, and I guess some beers gross her out, the smells get to her head.

33. In the face of criticism, is your character defensive, self-deprecating, or willing to improve?

Dani is always willing to improve, like she wants the constructive criticism.

36. How does your character behave around people they dislike?

The age-old tactic of retreating into herself and trying to zone out on them.

39. Has your character ever been bitten by an animal? How were they affected (or unaffected)?

Some annoying guy’s dog bit at her ankle when she was little, there’s like the tiniest mark left there now you can barely see it. Mentally, she was affected much at all.

42. Has your character ever had a parental figure who was not related to them?

Some of the tutors and staff in her childhood home were far more parental with her, since they actually did the main haul in raising her.

45. What does your character believe will happen to them after they die? Does this belief scare them?

She believes in an afterlife and it comforts her more than scares her I think.
