Chantry Renea: a re-intro

Chantry Renea is a lady-in-waiting to Princess Celine Alcarel, the youngest of her family and a princess of the Kingdom of Men. Chantry and Celine have become close in the years they’ve been together; she wouldn’t admit it, but she’s come to view her almost as a little sister. She feels truly happy where she is and was glad to leave her childhood home behind. It helps that this is where she met Adel, one of the royal court’s musicians and a close friend. Adel is shy, but kind and beautiful and she longs to be with him.

Chantry can’t help but feel protective of Celine, and wants to shield her from the growing tension within the family. But within the chaos, Chantry’s supposed destiny is revealed to her. She is the carrier of Xilia’s reborn soul, one of the Three who ruled alongside the God-King 200 years ago. Chantry is sent away to awaken Xilia at the stone table, far beyond anywhere she’s ever been. Adel, Celine and Celine’s brother, Prince Aron, volunteer (or force their way) to accompany her on her journey.

A physical fact: her red hair comes from her mother. She used to hate it because it made her stand out, but she’s proud of the colour now and wouldn’t change it even if she could. A character fact: she’s very interested in fashion; while she doesn’t exactly have the means to indulge in this interest for herself, she’s very invested in any look she helps Celine put together. She’s also quite good at sewing.

Character Intro: Chantry Renea

Among the land of Gods and Goddesses, ruled by the God-King and his three sisters, Dianda was only one of the Three. Among her were Karana the Wise, the Goddess revered by the Kingdom of Men, and Xilia the Gentle, revered by the Fae. The Gods’ War saw Dianda seal herself away in the body of a mighty beast, Karana vanish into the world of the mortals, and Xilia give the entirety of her life away. But there is a prophecy suggesting that when the God-King’s reborn soul inevitably returns to the world, so will She.

Chantry has never regretted the choice to leave her home in Carel and make her living working in the castle. Over the years, she’s worked her way up to be Princess Celine’s lady-in-waiting, the youngest of the royal family. Celine is kind and humble and her needs are few, so Chantry spends a lot of her time helping tend to the gardens, listening to Adel Forst play his harp. Chantry and Adel have been close friends since the day they met, but Chantry can’t help longing for more.

The world is beginning to change; the castle is growing tense at rumoured sightings of the mages of Nalaam, and the return of an ancient King of extraordinary power. One night, King Dominic himself wakes Chantry from her sleep and calls her to a meeting among the family and their advisers. The God-King’s presence has been felt again, and Chantry is the prime suspect in the search for Xilia’s reborn soul. Chantry doesn’t feel special and has never felt another presence within her, but could it be true? The stone table of Xilia lies far east, beyond the Dragonspine. Chantry’s destiny lies far away, but she won’t have to make the journey alone.

Chantry is a fun character to me. She’s a little quieter than the others and basically one of the most ordinary people in the story (despite the blurb above). She just wants Adel to like her back, dammit. We’ve all been there. This character description reveals a little more of the plot behind ‘The Wildfire King’ as well. A reblog or like would be super appreciated, anything to get the story out there!

Storyteller Saturday!! If your character could travel through time, where would they go?

Thanks for the ask!

I’ll just do a couple of them, I’m going to pretend like they’d be travelling to our eras instead of theirs.

Chantry would probably love the 50s. Zeta would be fascinated by anything 21st century so tbh he’d bounce back and forth all over the place. And to talk about one of my secondary characters for a change, I think Drakon would love 80s music and fit right in.
