betrayal, ghost, mask and mistake for Arkady

thank uuuuu!!! these r great….. i wish there was more during/post-canon content atm but my starting point & strength is usually backstory/character so i havent gotten to that much, esp while i still havent seen patho 2 ^__^” hopefully this is interesting tho?! 🧡☀️

betrayal: Has your OC ever been betrayed by someone they thought they could trust? Has your OC ever betrayed someone who trusted them?

ooo great question! one could say betrayal is a theme in Arkady’s life >__<

as the betrayed: both parents failed Arkady; their maternal grandmother — Yia Yia (Greek) — was the only caring relative. she lived in the Capital & Arkady visited often in youth. after YY’s funeral, Arkady’s already-distant mother simply never returned to their home. Arkady was left with their abusive father as their sole guardian, until they were fully orphaned as a teenager. Arkady felt “betrayed” when Artemy departed for his studies, despite understanding. it was an unfortunate transferral of the emotions of uncertainty of the future, jealousy of his education, & feeling trapped in Town, playing on echoes from childhood & abandonment. this thorn lodged in Arkady’s side & grew in his absence, contributing to the conflict btwn the two upon his return.

as a traitor: well, Arkady’s father probably felt betrayed by his unplanned murder ^__^" definitely not a typical thing with them tho… // Arkady betrays their clients’ trust constantly by spying on the deliveries & documents they work with. to them this is just practicality; a way to gain advantage via information. luckily their reputation as a courier is unaffected, as they are meticulously stealthy about it. in general it’s worth noting that to them, deception is not necessarily betrayal. (Arkady does not detest trickery)

ghost: Who or what haunts your OC? What happened? How do they live with their ghosts?

Arkady’s overarching "ghost" is Yia Yia & the life they dreamed of with her support. she was the only relative who treated them well, & had modest wealth. she sparked aspirations for their future, such as college & travel — they were even meant to visit Greece together when Arkady got older. when she fell ill, Arkady knew it was a type of “death sentence” for them too. they never really learned to cope with losing that potential future, & sometimes they accidentally make it everybody’s problem :P — as for the loss of Yia Yia, it helps to honor her memory by maintaining two small altars in their room, just as she did, for the Nikoforov family patron gods (who each have additional meaning to Arkady). this is something small that gives Arkady a sense of ritual & routine. they don’t ever mention this, partly because of the superstitious sentiment in Town, but mainly because it’s highly personal.

another major ghost in Arkady’s life is their father. Arkady received physical & mental wounds from him throughout life that culminated in great trauma & catharsis both upon his death — in which they played a role, though NOT premeditated. the story is #dark but in short, that man’s death was firmly declared "accidental" by a certain town doctor after Arkady brought him to the scene…. they don’t regret changing their life for the better, but that night really blurred lines between duty & guilt for Arkady, who is normally adept at compartmentalization. living in the aftermath, they mostly forge on, finally having the opportunity to reinvent their life in some ways. however, the confusion & guilt resurfaces at times. they do become dissociative at times, & they have a LOT of sleepless nights, some of which they wander singing quietly to themself — especially down by the river or from atop a Stairway to Heaven. (note: to me, there are some VERY interesting dynamics with Arkady & their two partners here regarding the various relationships to fathers/death)

mask: Does your OC wear a mask, literally or figuratively? What goes on beneath it? Is there anyone in their life who gets to see who they are under the mask?

one serious answer: Arkady is often reticent in conversation. they may also choose to communicate via sign depending on the situation. this is mainly because 1. they feel safer as the one holding information, & hate giving any away; 2. their voice is damaged from physical abuse growing up. the discomfort can be physical if not careful ofc, but besides that: depending on the situation they might feel insecure, feel at a disadvantage, or otherwise be expecting a non-neutral reaction — all experiences they detest. the list of people they (might) speak freely with is short. in canon, the more closely they work with Daniil & Clara, the more they are willing to speak to them. note that speaking freely around someone =/= a positive relationship! Arkady secretly loves to sing. the list of people they are willing to sing around (or even for) is shorter.

fun answer: Arkady’s gender presentation is completely confusing :) they even switch up how they give their patronymic (which they also changed to reflect true family) & surname (Nikoforov/a) just to sow chaos

Hazel Slayersdottir: way late in storyline. Basil and Thorne’s biological daughter. Norn thief. Worships Aurene as the dragon spirit and cleanses Jormag and Svanir corruption from the shiverpeaks with the little amount of prismatic magic she got from her father.

Alala Gunthild: An elonian human warrior. She is an au where the human Commander becomes the God of War after killing Balthazar like Kormir. Instead of her patron hounds being pitbulls (? i think Temar and Tegon are pitbulls?) she has Basenji and has a soft spot for Jackals. She has her Basenji companions that she can summon similar to Temar and Tegon, they are named Andromeda and Guinevere. She also has a Jackal Puppy- Artemis- and will stay a puppy companion as thats how Jackals work.

First Impression: I knew she was the final boss of the game but I had no idea that I would come to enjoy her as a character and eventually simp for her like the bisexual I am. Tatiana is indeed a queen <3

Impression Now: She's one of my favorite characters and I absolutely adore her character. She's the icon, she's the legend, and she's the moment

Favorite Moment: After her boss fight when she goes off on Mayday, I could feel how much truth her words were, especially when she said "Never have heroes honey, believe me you'll have fewer disappointments." I honestly related to that sentence so hard due to past experiences-

Idea for a Story: This mainly involves my OFA AU but Tatiana and her oldest daughter Titanium having a heart to heart when Tatiana finds out her daughter is literally overworking herself being the current CEO of NSR so she has to tell her it's ok to ask for help and to take a break. Just thinking about this idea makes my mind go brrr-

Unpopular Opinon: I'm not sure if this counts as unpopular but I really wish we could've had more lore about the Goolings and Tatiana's past, it would've been so much more intriguing-

Favorite Relationship: Tatiana being like a mentor to Mayday is something that always makes my heart flutter. Mayday showing how much she can play on Tatiana's old guitar that she gave her while Tatiana just smiles like a proud parent. Of course I also love shipping Tatiana with my NSR sona Olive it's a match literally made in heaven like yivdugdefuyvcbdfuyfva- the first time they meet is after the Music Revolution and the Garden of Thorns comes to town and right away gets a lot of attention that NSR also gets wind of them. They get invited to the NSR Tower to discuss collaborations but when Tatiana arrives at her office to meet them she's quick to notice that one of the band members is missing. Percy (lead singer) tells Tatiana that the drummer went to go grab some coffees and right when Tatiana says they can start without her, Olive comes in through the door with said coffees, not giving any mind that she's late and Tatiana notices just how tall Olive is-

Favorite Headcanon: Trans and Lesbian Tatiana. Being Kul Fyra also inspired a lot of LGBT+ people to be themselves, especially the fans.

And now it's time for Kliff and his moment to shine >:)

First Impression: When I saw him for the first time my heart skipped a bit, Kliff was the most cutest ginger I ever saw in my lifetime and I wanted to hold hands with him. I was a bit disappointed that he was a twist villain at first but then I realized he could still be redeemed if I put my mind to it via fan fiction lol

Impression Now: He could've taken a different approach in an attempt to get closure instead of trying to use a falling satellite, but at the end of the day Kliff is a stinky man and I love him.

Favorite Moment: When he first shows up in the game, Kliff is not only a cute ginger but he's also very helpful. His Kliffnotes on the NSR Artists are also very interesting and if you look closely there could be lore.

Idea for a Story: I need to update it but I'm working on a fanfic where Kliff does apologize to everyone for his actions and the Queen herself aka my oc Artemis helps him out, and while they're doing that they're also falling in love with each other because yes. Another idea which involves my OFA AU again is after the stunt Orion pulls with hacking into a satellite and blasting Burning Constellation's music on all technical platforms, Kliff is very proud of his daughter in a sense like "THAT'S MY GIRL :D " before his wife/Artemis gives him a look and Kliff goes "I mean Orion you can't be doing that- (I'm still proud of you though hack those satellites like I taught you >:D)"

Unpopular Opinon: I feel that there are some people that kind of go a bit too far with hating Kliff and I've come across fanfics where people write Kliff as an irredeemable character/a literal psychopath and I'm like ??? Can y'all chill??? I get that he's a bad person but he's not that evil-

Favorite Relationship: I would very interested to explore the concept of Kliff in his younger days and his relationship with Kul Fyra. Of course there's also me shipping Kliff with Artemis which is also a match made in heaven they're like so adorable Imma cry-

Favorite Headcanon: Kliff figuring out he's bisexual since back in the day he would flirt with other Goolings fans which were both men and women. Also DILF Kliff and him and Artemis going to every concert that their kids perform (Orion and her band Burning Constellation and Prince Astral's concerts with Linus because violin and piano duets are my favorite things in the world-)

Hey Eri I just wanna say that I love you Failed Revolution AU so much!

Also I thought of a bit of a concept but I'm still fleshing it out more so its just me being silly while rambling- Anyway:

Artemis sees how much Vinyl City is affected by the Failed Revolution attempt and realizes that something needs to be done, so she convinces her friends aka Garden of Thorns (which consist of Percy the lead singer, Singel the lead guitarist, Sodapop, bass player, Sylvie, keytarist, Olive aka my NSR sona who's also the drummer, and Maxie, the manager of the band and former drummer) who are looking for an opportunity to make a name for themselves since they're a Punk Rock band to help her finish the Revolution and knock some sense into Tatiana that she can't continue her distain of hating certain music genres (such as rock-). So the band and Artemis come to town and they're ready to face off against NSR and do what BBJ couldn't do, which is finish the Revolution once and for all!

(I hope you like this silly little idea of mine even though it's not canon I came up with it just for fun-)

Oh I really like this! Honestly, this is giving me ideas of the Re-Revolution being an ACTUAL revolution with MULTIPLE bands coming together to fight back against NSR and make Vinyl City a place for the people again!

Bands like Ex-Jay, Garden of Thorns, and my OC Band I have yet to name (along with single artists like West and other rappers who follow him) could all come together and actually be a force to mess with against Tatiana!

It would have to be quick and pretty succinct for it to work because I feel like once Tatiana catches wind of a new revolution she would try to crush it as fast as she could.

Each band could go up against a Megastar, on equal terms, so that Tatiana has no way of saying that the highjackings were unfair and not representative of the people!

I don't know who your band would go against, maybe Yinu (just going off the name) or possibly Sayu, while my my OC band who I will one day show off, would go against whichever one yours doesn't fight.

I honestly doubt DJSS would put up much of a fight. Or he could have been doing a collab with any of the other artists at the time of the re-revolution (maybe 1010, maybe Yinu idk). Either that or another band could step up.

Honestly... I would love to see some of the old Goolings, the Grove of Master Musicians, and/or Mystery Man step out of the shadows to help this re-revolution because of just how toxic it is to all music.

Considering that Vinyl City is the music capital of the world, and the world runs on music, fully banning any genre would probably have a detrimental effect on other cities who follow Vinyl City's footsteps. And these older generation of musicians would step out of retirement (or out of the shadows of NSR for Mystery Man) to try and bring balance to the music world.

So Tatiana would have a LOT to deal with. Honestly, it would be nice to see her try and fight alongside her Megastars. I doubt all the Megastars would be playing on the exact same day, but they would be playing much closer to each other since more power is going to be needed so more concerts will happen closer to each other.

Even though it would be nice for her to fight alongside the Megastars, I doubt it would actually happen, or be beneficial to the potential gameplay of this. Since if you defeat a Megastar with Tatiana there, then Tatiana is defeated. So she would probably still be the final boss, with B2J leading the way (mainly as figureheads and the fact that they told each band how to fight the Megastar they were fighting) to fight against Tatiana.

Tatiana would have to face the old generation of music (and her ex-bandmates) along with the new generation of music (and any future generation that decided to help, like Yiruk's band). This would bring to light that Tatiana was Kul Fyra (if the Gooling members hadn't already exposed that) and make her face her own actions.

Possibly even some of the Megastars show up to help support the Re-Revolution (or at least advocate for change). Neon and 1010 would definitely be there, so would Yinu who snuck out and away from Mama, and maybe DJSS. (Mama would end up at the fight somehow, probably after all the real fighting is done and the talking/heart to hearts start happening, and finally she gets to hear how miserable and hate-filled Yinu has gotten)

If Eve was there, she would probably be still fighting alongside Tatiana (but would change sides after talking with Zuke). I don't know about Sayu in this scenario, I could see the Crew coming as themselves, abandoning Sayu for the moment to speak up about all the toxic things that have been happening around them and how scared they are about the future. How they don't want to be a part of what NSR is becoming.

In the end I think this could be the change that NSR needs. I don't know if Tatiana would be willing to step down, but I think, after hearing all of this she would be willing to change things. Massive reforms, bringing on new people to help manage the company, listening to the people once and for all.

Even getting more/new charters of different music genres to help run the city properly. No longer would it be one charter for each district with a bunch of smaller artists under them, but like at least 2 charters who share responsibility and keep the other in check (along with keeping the other districts in check as well).

Yinu, DJSS, and Neon would quit. Eve would probably step away for a bit and come back later, Sayu's Crew would stay in the company but work on backup plans/life. Maybe Ex-Jay and Garden of Thorns become charters. Possibly West and B2J will join NSR as representatives, or at the very least be the voice for the people.

Omg I can't believe I made a happy-ish ending for this AU. I don't know if this is ACTUALLY how I want it to play out, but if other bands do come and start a new revolution then this is how I see it working. Otherwise, I don't see a single band having enough power to truly stop NSR unless it is years later when NSR is starting to internally collapse, or if there is inside help (like from Mystery Man, Kliff, or Neon).

But thank you for making me think of other bands who would be willing to help! It really made me think of whole new scenarios that I was not even considering beforehand!

Victoria most shockingly, was never at the party. Instead she was at Idia’s dorm trying to get him to join her and Azul at the party. She was in the middle of dragging him out when the thorns started growing everywhere. As Idia seems to be taking on the “Prince Phillip” role here, I wanted Victoria to help him defeat Malleus just as the three good fairies helped Prince Phillip take down Maleficent.

Artemis and Aimée were at the party and unfortunately got put asleep
