oh lord so ive just had a thought about the divine ascension in my worldstate. Leliana becomes divine because it's important for future plot reasons but I made a post about a year ago about how much Atlas and Are'veia, 2 out of the 3 inquisitiors do NOT trust her. There's not a chance in hell they would have supported her becoming divine.
Aurelie trusts Leliana more than Cassandra and Vivienne on account of them both relying on and utilising the Templars
Are'veia trusts Vivienne more than Leliana and Cass because she isn't devoutly chantry, and her worst experiences have been with the Chantry as opposed to the Templars themselves like Aurelie.
Atlas doesnt trust ANY of them as far as he can throw them but he'd back Viv on account of Are'veia vouching for her.
i fucking loooooove the politics of the inner inquisiton because on all accounts it is SO dysfunctional and absolutely doomed to collapse. That's 2 out of 3 inquisitors that would have loudly vouched for Vivienne and denounced Leli and Cass, but Leliana becomes divine despite. Really adds some more salt to the wound that is their relationship with her.
btw if anyone has any questions abt them pls pls fire them into my inbox i would love to waffle about the politics and psuedopolitics of my inner circle
#Also unsurprising that Aurelie is the only one who voted to keep the inquisition active#ive never thought about what Vivienne gets up to after DAI in my worldstate I should think about that#my ocs#da ocs#oc: atlas#oc: are'veia#oc: aurelie#Leliana#Cassandra Pentaghast#Vivienne De Fer#dai

really really torn with what to do with my girl are'veia. shes a solasmancer (poor thing) but keeps her vallaslin and goes HEAVY on the "nah. kill him. kill him." super super protective of mages and elves. patron god is elgar'nan and it SHOWS. and like--- she has a little girl- havent particularly worked out the exact timeline yet but she ends up with solas' child and. i dont know what to DO with her after they breakup/during&post trespasser. i know she goes back to her clan so,,,,,
#sera would need to unlearn a few things but i know shes getting so much better with that in trespasser#and living with the dalish would help her realise theyre not all. pretentious and such#blackwall i do like but also.. doubt he'd fit in great with her clan. hes lovely but hes yk very human#but also 'fuck you i can raise this little girl myself i have my people i dont need you' goes very hard#da#da ocs#my ocs#oc: are'veia#lavellan

yk. fuckin actually. in a weird turn of events are'veia and atlas might end up trusting cullen the most out of the advisors (minus josie. everyone loves josie). because- he's ex templar, immediate red flag bad books, and everything he says and does, red flag. they do not LIKE him. BUT. Leliana and cass were quite literally left and right hand of the DIVINE. the divine that was considering an exalted march on kirkwall. the divine that allowed and expected the templars to do their cruelty? not to mention cass is a seeker which is like the one group the templars fear and would listen to, and not once did she use this to keep the templars in check. aurelie would be FAR more hesitant with him because she's from a circle but the dalish kids probably blame the chantry more than the actual templar order
#he's got that pathetic dog-like vibe#i reckon are'veia could take him#angry reaver girl with a big fuckoff sword#really funny that 90% of the inquisition ocs i have HATE the advisors#only one who gets on really well with cullen is the templar deserter which is kind of funny#who tf does cass get on with. certainly NONE of the inquisitors. i dont think anyone LMAO RIP#aurelie probably gets on decently with leliana but doesnt trust her on account of the left hand thing#leli respects cass and for that reason are'veia cannot possibly trust her and atlas is in constant communication with leli's angry ex so#they really chose the worst set of people to make inquisitors#da#da ocs#my ocs#oc: atlas#oc: are'veia#oc: aurelie#cullen rutherford#leliana#cassandra pentaghast#really need to build up templar deserter boy

i have so many thoughts about leliana and my inquisition crew. the only inquisitor who actually trusts her is aurelie and thats only because the other options are templar and seeker. she gets softened but only because atlas is like "you are NOT answering every problem with violence". hes in direct contact with the hero of ferelden who is in contact with the queen and princess (who is the ex of leliana). na'ava is sat in denerim like "did she do that to get back at me". leliana is sat in skyhold like "did she do that to get back at me". she becomes divine because to atlas shes the best of a bunch of terrible options (hates cass and viv) (the gals like viv but none of them get on with cass). they make briala the ruler over puppet emperor gaspard because of elven loyalty, and it's an accidental side benefit that thats who leliana would prefer ruling. anora and na'ava get word in denerim that the inquisition has just made gaspard (ferelden warmongerour) emperor and theyre both like WHAT is leliana PLAYING AT. IS SHE DOING THIS TO GET BACK AT US (shes not. wasn't even her call)
#i should really make an actual whole proper post about leliana's relationship with the mcs because. NONE of them are good.#working with divine justinia and preparing for an exalted march on kirkwall (i believe it was? something similar)#completely destroyed the trust between her and any of her former friends#keep in mind i love leliana (except the. exalted march thing.) but these guys do Not. not anymore#da#da ocs#my ocs#oc: atlas#oc: are'veia#oc: na'ava#oc: ara'kian#leliana

The Last Stand
Elgar'nan lay dead on the floor of the courtyard, Sorren's dagger lodged in his throat. That was half the battle, he supposed. From the courtyard overlooking the city, he could still hear the roars of the darkspawn flooding Minrathous, the shouts of the Venatori, still fighting unawares that their charge was lying in a crumpled heap below his boot. He staggered to his knees, taking a second to breathe. His arm was throbbing, probably bleeding too, but then what wasn't? He scanned over the courtyard, and he didn't recognise any of the dead. That was good. That was good. They'd only lost two of them, so far. Only.
He saw that the ones they'd left below had started to make their way up. The crows followed behind Viago as they entered the court, Isaias pushing his way into Davrin's arms when the warden also joined them mostly unscathed. Emmrich and Bellara had emerged next, and then Sorren had stopped counting, resigning instead to letting his head try and drown out the noise. Solas was pulling himself from his knees somewhere ahead of him, looking even worse off than Rook's team were.
Two scathingly loud roars took the breath from his mouth, and he prayed to every god he knew the name of - including the one he was currently stood over the corpse of - that it wasn't more blighted dragons. Because it sounded like dragons. Before he had time to register the massive black shadows that suddenly circled ahead with a roar, two of the eluvians behind him lit up. He watched Taash swear something in Qunlat and grip her weapon, and he heaved himself onto one knee until he saw who came out.
Zevran. Nate. Anders. Fenris, Jowan, Velanna- They were all here, a sizable number of the Fereldan Wardens pouring out behind them. From the other eluvian marched soldiers donned in brown leather, their shields emblazoned with the heraldry of Queen Anora of Ferelden. Sorren could cry. He barely flinched when two dragons landed on either side of him, and laughed as he watched Solas' mind try to catch up. The one on his left was dark blue and grey, and he recognised it as Asra's dragon Okaazaakri almost straight away. Asra themself had immediately ran over to each of the team and gave everyone a once-over, pausing to be engulfed in a spine-crushing hug by Taash. The other dragon was unfamiliar, a brilliant, dazzling blue, almost sapphire in intensity. The man who climbed from the dragon's back was practically dripping in feral rage as he ran to Sorren's side, cupped his cheek for only a moment until he was satisfied he was as unharmed as could be expected given the situation, then stood up with an almost statuesque stillness, prowling in Solas' direction. "Wardens, with Nathaniel. Soldiers, march on the Venatori!" He shouted over his shoulder.
"That's..?" Someone said from behind Sorren, muffled from the marching of the two small militaries pouring from the mirrors.
"The Dragon of Blood." Jowan answered somewhere else behind him.
"Leader of the Free Rebellion." Anders piped up from somewhere, too.
"-That's the hero of goddamn Ferelden." Davrin had supplemented from the pile of Crows in an almost aghast tone.
"Dad." Sorren breathed, not sure any of this was real.
"Mi amor has many titles." Sorren's head snapped backwards from where he was watching the former Warden-Commander Ara'kian Surana stalk towards the Dread Wolf like he was a piece of meat, when he heard the sound of his father's voice approaching. Zevran's hands were on his shoulders in an instant, gently shifting him back up onto his feet, scanning over his face just like Ara'kian had done.
"Dad." Sorren breathed again, and he wanted so badly for this to be the family reunion he'd dreamed of for months, but his father was evidently out for blood and Sorren really needed Solas alive for their plan to tie him to the veil to work. He explained the fake dagger, and the basic premise, to Zevran as fast as he could, dragging him by his hand towards Lucanis and the other crows as he spoke. "Lucanis!" Sorren shouted as they approached.
Better visible now in the light, Sorren watches the Talons bristle. Viago tenses and makes a sort of strangled noise, pushing Isaias behind him in a move so instinctive it seemed to momentarily baffle Viago himself. "Zevran Arainai." He supplements for anyone unaware - but how could they be, what with the Scourge of House Arainai's face plastered on posters in every Antivan city.
"Formerly. Surana has a much nicer ring to it, I must confess. Alas, I do believe we have bigger problems at hand?" Zevran smiles at the three talons before him, before raising up Sorren's hand that he was still holding. "Namely, this one."
"Dad." Sorren muttered, and there was another of Viago's strange strangled sounds. "Lucanis, my dad - no not this one, the one currently about to punch Solas in the teeth - he's got an attached spirit too. I need Spite to tell Mouse the dagger plan, and quickly, before he kills Solas himself." Sorren gritted his teeth, looking over his shoulder at Ara'kian stalking towards the Dread Wolf, looking far more like one himself.
With each step toward him, Ara'kian's hand and arm pulsed red, each twist of his fingers had Solas gritting his teeth, or coughing back a sound of pain. "You lied to my son." Surana said, voice eerily stable and low, though his amber eyes were that of a predator. He clenched his fist with a swirl of red, and Solas gripped his shoulder with a cry. "You used blood magic against my son." His teeth gritted, and another flick of his fingers had Solas clutching his opposite arm. Asra was currently the closest to the two of them, still stood next to his dragon, and he was sure he was hearing multiple cracks of what he assumed could only be bone, more-like the crunching of gravel. "Twice." Another crunch, and another yelp from the Dread Wolf. "It-" Solas began to interject. "Silence." Ara'kian snapped first. "You sealed him and that boy in a prison of your own making, designed to feed off the souls of it's inhabitants." Mouse was whispering in his head, transferring information from another spirit somewhere else in the throne room, Sorren had a plan, apparently, and to make it viable he wasn't allowed to murder the pitiful whelp stood before him. His dragon seemed to sense his displeasure, huffing a growling breath of scorching steam in Solas' direction. "It was a necessary sacrifice, to right the wrong of the veil's creation." Solas said, attempting to match the Hero of Ferelden's manner, but with his face broken, bloody, and bruised, and with at least his left arm and likely his shoulder too fragmented from blood magic, it didn't appear an equal challenge. Ara'kian's eye twitched. "Silence, dog." He spat. "I've killed an archdemon. I've killed that magister your inquisition threw carelessly into the Fade. What's one more pathetic would-be god?" Another flick of his wrist, and Solas was grappling his own, eyes squinted shut and seething through his teeth as he momentarily dropped to one of his knees.
Mouse said he couldn't kill Solas, he said nothing about maiming him.
A pulse of the fade sent everyone staggering backwards, all except Solas. He took to his feet, rising with a bitter look, his non-dangling arm wrapping around his other. Sorren had made his way beside his father, approaching Solas slowly.
"The world owes you a debt." Solas began, gazing with a breath at the pulsating slice of the veil. "Both for defeating Elgar'nan… And for bringing down the Veil." Sorren gritted his teeth, searching the floor for the lyrium dagger. "I am sorry for this final betrayal. But I will do what I can to minimize the damage. When you see the old world restored…" Solas said, slightly quieter. "Minimize the damage." Sorren laughed with a bitter spit of air, and suddenly the onlookers knew where he'd gotten his bite. "That's what you told Varric, too. Before you killed him, that is." He heard muffled shouting behind him, and knew that Amell must have been holding Fenris and Anders back. He didn't envy him that job. He didn't envy himself, for his own. He looked back up sharply at the sight of the dagger slipping across the floor, towards Solas' open palms. He leapt for it almost on instinct, wrapping his body around the dagger.
"Please, Rook. I do not wish to fight against you."
"You should have considered that sooner."
"It is over, Sorren. You could never stand against me alone." Sorren found himself in a sort of stasis, the muscles in his arm presenting the dagger - the fake dagger - up to Solas' outstretched hand. He didn't know if Solas was using his blood magic again, or if this was just another variation of the stasis magic he seemed to employ. He gritted his teeth, trying to fight against it, trying to make it seem real.
"No." Sorren tensed, directing it at his dads, and the small army they'd brought with them, and the friends surrounding him, watching as the courtyard rippled with the desire to rip into Solas. He supposed he was glad that they were all so willing to fight a god for him, but when he was currently trying to deceive the god of trickery, he really needed them all to be quiet and behave.
"I am sorry." Solas said, and Sorren had to stifle a chuckle. Of course he thought he'd been talking to him. Self-important bastard. "If you will excuse me, the final enchantments require a delicate touch." Solas said, taking the dagger from Sorren's hand and turning towards the veil slit. Sorren's knuckles were white around the hilt of the real one, watching, waiting, praying for the sake of praying.
"A delicate touch? You kill Varric, stab me in the back- You're about to drown Thedas in demons! You think you're Elgar'nan's foil, don't you? You admit your sins and wallow in them, which must make you so much superior to him, mustn't it?" Sorren snarled. This was their only shot, if it failed, well there was no other chances. May as well say his piece. "We found Felassan's memories. You murdered a friend for disagreeing with your plan. How are you any different from Elgar'nan, trying to impose your will on all of us?"
"Elgar'nan would have seized his victory by force." Solas shot back. "You were not crushed by the power of the Dread Wolf." Sorren tried to bite back the comment that it seemed more like it was the Dread Wolf being crushed in the maws of Elgar'nan's pet. "You were bested by fair wits alone." Fen'harel continued. He turned around, and struck the veil with the dagger in his hands. At first, nothing. Sorren held his breath, and he watched Lucanis starting to approach from the corner of his eye, slowly at first, then quicker, like he had a gut-sense that the plan was going awry and he needed to be there. But then a pulse of energy blasted from the false dagger, and Solas was held in a stasis of his own, bound by tendrils of overly bright light. Rook's parents were beside him first, then Asra, then Lucanis. He was sure some others had crowded around too, but his stare never left Solas'.
"This is the real dagger." He explained quietly, watching the second the pieces fell into place for the Dread Wolf, slicing his palm to bind him to the Veil once again.
"Bested fairly by wits alone." Solas repeated himself, chuckling bitterly. "I taught you well."
"You did." Sorren conceded.
"What happens now then, little wolf?" Solas said, still-ly. His voice was a culmination of too many emotions for Sorren to count, but he could tell that bitterness was layered over them all.
"It didn't have to be like this. You could have listened to Varric. You could have listened to me. You could have listened to Atlas," He started, the list spilling from his mouth as he recounted every chance Solas had been given to change. "You could have listened to Arë'veia back in the Inquisition, you could have listened to Felassan." He sighed. "But it is your nature to reject change, isn't it? I am sorry. I hope what's waiting for you isn't another prison of regret." Sorren said, and felt his dad scoff beside him, clearly still intent on sinking his teeth around the Dread Wolf's throat.
"You think yourself capable of judging me? I have faced things you could not possibly comprehend!" Solas shouted. "You are a mortal! A mortal! And I am a-"
"A traitor." Arë'veia spoke up, stepping from the crowd into Solas' line of sight. "A traitor to The People. To those you promised to protect and guide." Atlas added beside her, his voice laced with far less anger, and far more betrayal. "You promised."
"Vhenan. Da'len." Solas addressed them both as the Veil dragged him back, chuckling bitterly to himself. "I am a fool…" His gaze lingered over the former inquisitors; his former love, his former friend, and back to Rook, before he spoke again. "Who finally met his match."

so because i have 3 inquisitors each with the mark (together), i’m really wondering what to do regarding the Loss of Arm. It could be a case of they all lose the arm but that feels a little stale, so now im wondering which one has more narrative weight for losing their arm. Originally it was my Trevelyan, but i think one of the lavellans (are’veia, solas’s lover, devotee of elgar’nan who vows to display every aspect of revenge and protection in his sphere to protect her people from The Dread Wolf, or atlas, who saw solas as a father and wanted to redeem him to the end.)

what is it with dragon age and making me question all of my character decisions. I need to start Arë'veia and Aurélie's playthroughs in inquisition so theyre all doing things at roughly the same time (3 inquisitor thingsss <3) but. ive always had Arë'veia in my head as a dual-wield rogue but now that im replaying DA2 fenris has me believing in the supremacy of tiny elf massive sword. ive never played a warrior im always a squishy mage. i need to look into this. maybe look at what weapons/armors are available for each type
#yes i will decide this ultimately on aesthetics#eli's ramblings#da#da ocs#my ocs#oc: are'veia#oc: aurelie
