bel please tell us about your capitol oc (i need the inspiration)
AAA AN OC ASK??? THANK U SM LILY ML <33
okok before anyone reads, TW for suicide attempt and just death in general, this is thg.
so this oc is sadly not a tbosas mentor bc he wasn't born at that time but i can say he is distantly related to dennis fling.
to start off, his name is vestis sylver and at the time of the 47th games (when he first becomes an escort) he is 22 years old.
he grew up in a typical privileged capitol household, his family had that ingrained prejudice to the districts, they werent as outspoken as other families though. he grew up not watching the games out of disinterest and kind of turned a blind eye to whatever happened in the districts because it didnt affect him.
this changes completely when his best friend (who he totally didn't have a crush on) from the capitol who was banished to district nine because of speaking out against the capitol, settled down and had kids and then one of the kids got reaped and died in the games.
that inspires him to become an escort for d9 specifically but oh boy did he make a mistake. first off, the mentor that he works with died the year before due to unforseen circumstances (she was killed by the capitol for silent rebellion, rip anona ryan, you'll be missed). he (at first) manages to help get back-to-back winners with ceres miller and angus flaxon (i changed the dates they won to fit this hc.... if u saw the og post with different dates..... ignore that 😭) but even with this newfound motive and a goal to help d9 win the games (not abolish the games overall) it completely backfires. his glamorised capitol background and privilege makes him blind to how difficult it actually is in the districts, even if he thinks he wants to help.
most of the tributes are unresponsive to him and he starts to realise "helping" the districts is much harder than he thinks. over and over again he tries to get through to the tributes (and the mentors... mainly ceres bc she is just done w him atp) but it never works, and they die over and over and over again. his work for the games strains him and all of his relationships get more and more difficult. he sees himself changing from someone who only cared about the districts because of a capitol friend into someone who really wants change, who sees himself in these kids and starts to realise that all district kids are the same as capitol kids, they just don't have the right opportunities.
he gets older and older and sees more and more that he needs to fight for these people. he realises that the games don't need to be "won", they need to be abolished. at one point (around the 65th games) the male tribute for district nine commits suicide before the games which causes a huge scandal, and it makes vestis realise that being an escort isn't going to help the kids, and starts to be subtly rebellious by spending more and more time in d9 when he should be in the capitol.
during the 68th games, where my oc thea wins, plutarch heavensbee is thea's sponsor and vestis and him get to talking. he ends up being in with the rebel plan, but makes the difficult decision not to tell the mentors of d9, who are already extremely depressed and he doesn't want to burden them with the information. (he later comes to realise this was the WRONG decision.... i wonder why.)
anyway that's as far as ive gotten into his story, im probably gonna continue his influence to the third quarter quell. hope u enjoyed this incoherent rant and hope it gives u some inspo 😭.
#bel answers stuff#sorry for the long ramble#im probably gonna realise this makes no sense after rereading it#oc: vestis sylver#oc: ceres miller#oc: angus flaxon#oc: thérèse “thea” vaughn#oc tag

how many victors does district nine have in your opinion? also love every time i see you on my dash 💗
aa ur in my inbox? an absolute treat to wake up to!! and i love every time i see u on my dash, too 💚
so i think there are four, possibly five victors. i think if there were to be five the first d9 victor would have had to of won their games very early on (5th-6th games, they did say the farming districts had some advantage) and then die of their wounds obtained during their games, leaving no knowledge about them whatsoever.
now, the other four are my main ocs, here's a mini description of them all.
the "first" victor, anona ryan at age eighteen. she won the twentieth games, using her talent with acting to make the capitol audience fall for her and her proficiency with a pitchfork to eliminate her competition. she lied that her mother was from the capitol, and became a peacekeeper in nine. the truth was, her mother died in childbirth and she was raised by her reclusive but well-off father who brewed alcohol for a living. sadly, she is killed around the thirty-seventh games for badmouthing the capitol while drunk.
ceres miller won the fourty-seventh games at age seventeen. she grew up poor and with a bad relationship with her mother, so she wasn't exactly upset that she was reaped. the new capitol escort, vestis sylver, however saw ceres' potential. she was farm-strong and good with a crossbow so, after being pushed by vestis, she gets a training score of ten. she wins by using a similar tactic to katniss, both offensive and defensive.
angus flaxon won the fourty-eighth games at age eighteen. it was the only time ever for a non-career district to get a back-to-back win. vestis played a huge part in this, getting sponsors for angus and pushing him during his training, earning him a score of nine. ceres also knew angus, as they were from the same plain in nine and even went to the same school. angus wins by joining an anti-career pack made up of outer-district tributes, on the promise that if he joined they wouldn't kill maisie lynd, his fourteen-year-old district partner. after they are the last ones left, angus is the most agile and ends up scaling the tallest tree to seek refuge from the mutts, quite stunned after failing to save maisie. i believe, if he could've saved her, he would've let her win.
thérèse "thea" vaughn won the sixty-eighth games at age fifteen. after twenty years of loss, district nine's victors grew tired. thea was reaped alongside eighteen-year-old emory bledsoe, who she became great friends with during training. people didn't expect much of her, being from timber (the poorest part of nine) but she was actually quite strong and very talented with a warscythe. turns out, her and her cousin had been working illegally (on their own land, not connected to the industry) from the age of ten, building both physical strength and survival skills. her and emory allied during the games, but a particular career girl, echo kane, went rogue from the pack and began hunting anyone she saw fit. she remembered both thea and emory getting relatively high scores for an outer-district, so she went for them first and managed to kill emory. this left thea spiralling, but she had to keep moving on. it ended up being her and echo left, they had both scaled the same tree to get away from the mutts, and thea outsmarted echo by using rope and a hook to attach herself to the tree, surprising echo when she thought she had killed thea, and pushing her off of the tree.
okay this was rlly long lmao sorry for the infodump, but thank u so much for asking 💓

🤒🐷🌈🐕
hey spark!! idk which ocs these r for since it wasn't specified but ill just pick at random!!
🤒: thérèse "thea" vaughn - thea doesn't get sick easily but when she does she hates it. it's not even like she gets sick worse than others, she just hates how it makes her feel. it also reminds her of how sick her mother was when thea was young.
🐷: ivy zelta - ivy loves all animals, but squirrels are by far her favourite. she began to feed the squirrels around the outskirts and they got really attached to her - they've been her pets since.
🌈: angus flaxon & ceres miller - they are THE bi4bi couple ever.
🐶: echo kane - back in district two she had a pet dog that she got originally to help her train. she loved him more than anything and named him rex. when she didn't come home from the games he paced around waiting until he was resold to another career to help train. u can guess what happened to them.
