Okay so. I blacked out for four hours and became sentient to a finished product so uh

These are my (mostly) new squids, they were one of the absolute top turf war teams a couple of years before my version of Splatoon 1, they're called the Sunshade Krackens (yes they misspelled krakens lmao).

There's Sunora, the team leader and most serious of the bunch, Masako, who's energetic and kinda wild but painfully innocent and a bit naive, Boovy, a bundle of anxiety that prefers to sneak around inking turf but gets caught up in the vanguard of the New Squidbeak Splatoon, and Tim, the laid-back yet excitable support from the backlines.

I'd go into more detail since I'm trying to build up their personalities for my first writing project, which would detail how they grew to become who they're depicted as today, but I know you don't wanna read four paragraphs, so I'm just gonna leave the sheet of doodles I made while trying to work up the motivation to finish this under the cut since it shows off some of their character and a few design aspects I didn't get to fully showcase in the character art. You can also see them in yellow, the team color they use for battles.

And yeah idk where I'd say this but thanks to Squidbeak Splatoon business they're buds with Callie and Marie too.

I tried my best to give them each distinct color palettes, so you could easily tell them apart, I went for the six most different colors using Callie and Marie as an anchor, though I strayed away from orange/yellow since it's their team color. A little tough trying to make their color schemes work with both their individual colors and their team color, but I feel like I did decently enough.

Also fun fact, they're based loosely on the blue team in the first ever Splatoon showcase trailer back in 2014.

❄️ SNOWFLAKE - do people consider them cold? if so, what made them this way?

here is haku's conundrum. they have been tasked with sorting through the thousands of possible futures and then leading the way to what they deem the most favorable possibility. but favorable to whom? the ideal would be to choose an outcome that benefits the most people in the long-term, but a choice like this will always be skewed by the bias of the diviner. haku knows this. still, they consider it their duty to remain as detached as possible from everyone around them to avoid clouding their judgment with things like sentimentality.

and so haku acts like an ice queen, always holding others at arms length as if this will somehow negate the fact that they are (unfortunately) quite the bleeding heart. i can count on one hand the number of characters across six campaigns/universes who didn't want to punch haku by the end of it all--and this is all by design. for haku, the knowledge that they are widely hated makes it easier for them to act as destiny's puppetmaster without guilt.

🌱 SEEDLING - what is their most vivid memory from childhood?

um. i would say watching their parents get reduced to ashes by a malicious god but i think it's actually. something that happened three years after that. haku (and the rest of the ennead) are among karai's chosen soldiers, bestowed with a highly unstable mix of holy power and the cursed essence of aforementioned malicious god, and well. for haku, this power awakened before they were ready, and it incinerated them from the inside out. they were nine years old. i think i actually traumatized one of mika's pcs once by making them experience this particular memory as a first-person vision (sorry ai).

Lazerblade (aka Jack, aka Rookie, aka Shades, aka 'gigantic dork') is a rookie speedster armed with a protective suit that absorbs kinetic force and stores it as power for an optical beam visor capable of welding and, most importantly, cutting.

A slightly older piece, but a principal character in the Heartsverse all the same.

Her full name is Valentina (Priya) Ombeline. She is a very tall Romanian vampire woman (1m71) born on February 14 and at 2000 years old (20 years in human age). She is a lesbian and Amber is her girlfriend. She also has a twin brother: Valentin (Matt sucks vampire )

like, hello? she's a chubby bard with bells sewn into her dress that jingle when she walks or dances or twirls. she's got cute pointy ears that flush when she does and wide, mismatched eyes. she frequently mispronounces words that she's only read and never actually heard in a sentence, and she carries with her a chest full books that she's stolen or picked up because she's only just learning how to read and has fallen utterly in love with the written word. her favorite instrument is the violin, but she's most adept with the flute because she obsessed over her father's as a child. she's this wildly free soul, one newly planted by titania – unguided by the call of arvandor, but also unchained, a breath of new life and the notes of a new song.

when you fall so deeply in love with an oc that you struggle to figure out their dynamics with other characters because why wouldn't they be in love with her, too?
