Blorbo of the Year 2024
as tagged by @little-paperboat , you’re right, this is a very fun idea! I tag @redroomroaving @darkurgetrash @dutifullylazybread and @kimberbohwrites to hand out some character awards. Now let’s do this!
Blorbo of the Year: Rolan BG3
…there can only be one. I love this arrogant ass with a secret soft side even more in 2024 than I did in 2023, and that is saying something. He’d have won 2023 as well.
There’s just so many contradictory depths to mine in him; fiercely independent and yet desperately lost without his siblings, determined not to care and yet ending up doing it anyway. Arrogant and yet deeply self-doubting. I’ve explored him from act 1 to post-game, good ending and bad, fleshed out my take on his backstory and yet still feel there’s more to say… and so very many more ways I want him to get spanked.
And yet… it’s not just that, is it? Obsessed as I am, one of the reasons I’m still here, typing out my 80,000th* paragraph about him is because of you, wonderful followers, readers, commenters and fandom friends. Thank you for being here, and for helping to perpetuate the madness. Special shout out to the countless amazing Rolan artists who fill my brain with visions, especially the filthy ones. You’re all treasures.
*may be an exaggeration but only just. you don’t want to know the number of orgasms I’ve had about him, you’d be truly concerned for my health.
Villain of the Year: Auntie Ethel
Since I don’t even have a runner up for “blorbo of the year”, have my villain of the year. Auntie Ethel was one of my favourites in BG3, and is now the main antagonist of my longfic. She’s such an unremittingly evil delight, manipulative and cruel with a spellbindingly nasty sense of humour and takes great pleasure in playing with her food. In a completely unrelated note, @barbwillbrb wrote a completely bonkers and yet compelling fic about her for Volo’s Erotic Library, and… well, I’m still not a fan of eye kissing, but I understand the Ethel appeal now. (and @barbwillbrb , consider yourself tagged in this game too!)
I’ll leave it up to you to guess if we’ve seen the last of Ethel in Planar Tears ;) Hags always have one last trick up their sleeve…
New OCs this Year
I’m just making shit up now but I wanted to spotlight Catrin, Phaere and Lennie, my new named Rolanmancers. I love them all for such different reasons… but if they’ve got one thing in common, it’s that they all absolutely wreck Rolan in the bedroom. Honestly, these women are reason no3 why I’m still so obsessed with Rolan; I’ve poured so much love into each and every one of their stories, and I want to see them through to their happy endings beside Steel Weave Tav.
In order:
Catrin (Planar Tears)
A smart, burned-out doctor with trust-issue-related fuckboy tendencies (that she’s beginning to recover from, with Rolan’s help), she’s busy learning all she can about Faerûn and magic whilst she’s got the chance. Not so that she can stay, of course; she needs to get back to her old life, and the job she worked so hard to qualify for. Unless…?
Phaere (In Service of Magic)
The Eilistraeen half-Drow Queen of Firgenstrame, both a wise and efficient ruler and a rather idealistic romantic. Hobbies include: groping Rolan (every fifteen minutes if possible), reading, archery and hunting.
Lennie (Short Shorts (And Cold Beer))
Half-orc Waterdhavian college student and summer camp counsellor, who takes her duties very seriously. She’s on the gentler side, and has her own streak of insecurity about her half-orc heritage but… even her patience can be tested by fellow counsellor Rolan, and when it is, she takes him very firmly in hand. I really want to write another short story or two for her in 2025 <3
Thank you again for the tag, little-paperboat, and happy Christmas and new year everyone! I hope your 2024 in fandom brought you as much joy as mine did <3

Phaere Vrinn - Tav Character Sheet
The first of my character directories, since I figured it would be helpful for myself to have character sheets for all my Tavs in one place, and what better place than Tumblr lol. This bio will contain SPOILERS for A Sonnet of Spiders and my fanfiction universe, The Dark Minstrel, so if you're following along and don't want all the lore spoiled pls read at your discretion. <3
Name: Phaere Vrinn (Formerly: Phaere Melarn) Race: (Formerly) Lolth-Sworn Drow (Currently unaffiliated) Class: Bard (College of Lore in Game; More closely aligns with College of Eloquence) Age: 170 Sex: Female Pronouns: She/Her Alignment: Chaotic Good/Neutral (ish) Orientation: Pansexual Partners: Astarion & Halsin
Height: 4'11" Build: S m o l. Petite and lightly curvy. Skin: Dusty lavender with tons of FRECKLES Eyes: Pink (Volo eye Grey) Hair: Moonlight White with a bit of a teal-ish tint Tattoos: Amethyst purple Starpoint Glimmer Tat Favored Weapon: Hand Crossbow or Orin's Dagger Instrument: Flute or Spider's Lyre Favorite Spell: Shatter, Otto's Irresistible Dance Base Stats (I think) CHA: 17 WIS: 12 DEX: 15 STR: 8 INT: 10 CON: 13
Likes: Music, dancing, pomegranates, sparkly clothes, witty jokes, sweet wines, vanilla cake Dislikes: Drow Bullshit (TM), injustice, boring speeches, krakens, spiders (the irony), being underestimated Personality: Phaere can be a bit of a wildcard, but most of the time she's a charming, charismatic performer with a good heart. However, she can dish it as well as she can take it, so if you come at her with hostility, malice, or snark, expect to get it back tenfold. If you meet her with warmth or friendliness, she will absolutely bend over backwards to befriend you or at very least treat you with kindness in return. She reflexively helps the helpless and defends the defenseless, but gets easily angered by injustice, prejudice, or unfair treatment.
While she holds little love for her drow heritage, Phaere is not above using others' prejudices to get what she wants if it suits her. She can play a convincing, evil drow matriarch, even if the act turns her stomach every time she does it. She does have a bit of a cruel streak for those she deems 'evil' or 'deserving' of punishment, which is how she gets around the cognitive dissonance of (usually) not wanting to hurt anyone if she can help it. She would much rather entertain than kill, but if the situation calls for it... well... she can be incredibly sadistic. Anger is the emotion that gets the best of her most often, and when her well of patience runs dry... watch out. You don't want a tiny, pissed-off drow coming to mock you to death.
In love, Phaere is kind, attentive, and selfless, almost to a fault. She puts her partners' needs above her own and rarely asks for what she wants, but she's getting better about it with Astarion and Halsin's help. Her previous lover taught her how relationships work on the surface, and now with the help of her boys she's putting it into practice. Sensual but with a 'take it or leave it' attitude to sexual intimacy, Phaere is more interested in building connections of the heart rather than of the body. But well, she is very good at the bodily connection part, when the mood strikes. She is a bard, after all.
Backstory: (SPOILERS FOR SONNET OF SPIDERS)
Phaere was born in Ched Nasad, a drow city in the Underdark in 1322. The seventh daughter of Halisstra Melarn (or so she was told,) Phaere was ignored often as a child. The smallest of her sisters as well, Phaere was often left in the care of her elder brother, Rylbros, the only male of the family. (As Phaere knew him, he was technically her cousin, an illegitimate child of Halisstra's brother, Q'arlynd, but he was raised as her brother and she considered him as such. Little did she know that SHE was also an illegitimate child of Q'arlynd as well, making her and Rylbros full siblings.) Rylbros, a kind, timid boy with an incredible gift for music, became something of a surrogate parental figure for Phaere, providing her with the affection and care that she never received from her mother or sisters growing up.
Halisstra was tutored in the bardic art of bae'qeshel, and passed on the art to her three eldest daughters, despite none of them being very proficient in the musical arts. Meanwhile, Rylbros and Phaere were gifted in music, and practiced their own music in secret unbeknownst to the rest of the family. Q'arlynd, even though he was forbidden from seeing his son for the most part, even arranged for a private tutor to teach Rylbros the violin as a teenager--the very same bardic tutor that Halisstra had learned from.
Of course, Halisstra had the tutor killed after she insinuated that Phaere, even as a toddler banging on a piano, had more musical talent than all of the Melarn women combined.
Rylbros and Phaere, long since disillusioned with drowic society, made plans to escape Ched Nasad and travel to the surface as a bardic duo when Phaere was around 50 years old. However, during the Silence of Lolth in 1372, Ched Nasad was attacked by Duergar mercenaries, sent by the matron mother of House Melarn's rival house, House Zauvirr. The mercenaries were ordered to kill every last Melarn, and Rylbros and Phaere tried to escape the burning wreckage of their home during the attack.
Rylbros was captured, giving Phaere just enough time to run to freedom. Believing Rylbros to be dead, Phaere ran for days into the wilds of the Underdark, collapsing at the edge of Araumycos, a giant fungal structure located between the ruins of Ched Nasad and Menzoberranzan.
There, she stumbled upon a colony of Myconids. Delirious and dehydrated, Phaere played her flute for the Sovereign, unable to do anything else for fear of being killed. Instead, the Sovereign released rapport spores, and taking pity on the young drow, it decided to take Phaere into its colony. She lived with the Myconid colony through several cycles, working as a dedicated bard and tour guide for travelers and as a caretaker for juvenile myconids. It was through this 60-year experience that Phaere unlearned some of her drow teachings, earning a new appreciation for surface races through meeting travelers and building up a connection with nature thanks to her fungal family.
At the encouragement of the third Sovereign, Phaere left the colony at the age of 110, having grown restless and wanting to travel the surface world to spread her music across the land, as she and Rylbros had dreamed of doing in their youth. She wasn't very successful as a bard, however, until she made it to Neverwinter, where she met a 40-something human bard by the name of Robin.
It was love at first sight.
Robin started as a mentor for Phaere, and then as a confidante and friend, teaching her about the intricacies of life on the surface, as well as cultivating her musical talent with other instruments (piano and the lyre, mainly). Robin, with their infinite patience and kindness, opened Phaere's heart to more experiences as the two traveled across Faerun, performing and dazzling audiences in taverns, city squares, and inns alike. Eventually, the two began a romantic relationship, and Phaere stayed with Robin until their dying breaths at the age of 92. The two never married (Robin was not the marrying type) but were faithfully committed for nearly 45 years, even as Robin encouraged Phaere to seek other experiences outside of their relationship.
Phaere never did. She knew she'd have plenty of time for love later in life.
After Robin's death, Phaere traveled alone for 15 years, leaving behind a string of flings and only casual acquaintances, not quite ready to open her heart to friendship or love until the events of BG3. On her way to Baldur's Gate when she was abducted by the Nautiloid, Phaere received a rude awakening in the form of a tadpole, and thus decided fairly quickly (with some bumps along the way) that life was too short and too unpredictable to wallow in loneliness and misery. Robin wouldn't have wanted her to do that.

Phaer Manor [NOCC]
by peridew
Wow, back from the dead again! Been rather busy as of late. I'm at uni now, I moved house and I've been playing on my new Switch. Still managed to come back to my true love The Sims 3 though! Mainly because things have kinda dried up lately for reasons... So long story short, I decided to reinstall The Sims 1 because I was nostalgic for the magic system in that game. Made an exclusive, matrilineal clan/coven of sapphic witches to play with. Ended up falling in love with the characters I'd made so now I'm recreating them in all the Sims games. Of course, I put my TS3 versions of them in Moonlight Falls, but I needed a nice mansion befitting of such an elite clan of witches. So here we are, after 4 days of work: Phaer Manor! > Pronunciation note: say it like 'fair'. It's based on an old spelling of an ancestral surname in my family (Phayer/Fair) This manor is purpose-built for these 3 basically-OCs of mine, so not all rooms are furnished. Namely a bedroom on the 1st floor, and the super-duper-top-secret attic space accessed from the master bedroom. I will be filling these as my gameplay needs it; feel free to do the same if you download this. As for the rest of the house, there is: a kitchen/dining room, a grand hallway, 3 small bathrooms (plus an IP all-in-one bathroom), a sparsely-furnished nursery, a witchcraft/alchemy room, 2 furnished bedrooms, a greenhouse, and extensive outdoor grounds including a large greenhouse and spaces for planting fruit trees. The decor throughout the house is very inspired by the formidable head of the Phaer clan, Regentia. She's into black and deep red tones, as you will see. The outdoors also have hints of her, but that is more the realm of her green-thumbed partner Ariadne. She, as you will notice, prefers purple and dark pink colours. Finally there is the youngest member of the clan, biological child of Ariadne and stepchild of Regentia, Serpentia. You will see that her bedroom is full dark greens and blacks, with little in the way of toys around in line with her stern and serious nature. I may upload these sims to this post as well if A) I am requested to and B) I can find which of the random strings of numbers in my Library folder is the family bin file for them. You may see then poking around in a couple of the preview images though. As this lot is built for/in Moonlight Falls, it may not perfectly suit other worlds so take this into consideration if you use it in other worlds. The colour schemes are made to suit the lighting in that world and I haven't checked how it looks in other worlds. To be fair though, I can't imagine this lot suiting Starlight Shores too well... Another issue to consider is that entering build/buy mode may take a while due to it being a large and densely-decorated lot and for some reason this game loves to reload every single object on the lot whenever you enter/leave BB. Probably best not to install this lot if your PC is on death's door. Please note that although this lot is officially CC-free, I do use some default replacements that vastly improve the appearance of the lot. These are not required content, but explain why my screenshots may look slightly different to a purely vanilla game: - Aminovas' lavender defaults in purple - HystericalParoxysm's plant defaults - JaneSamborski's wood pattern texture replacements - Blyss' window lighting fixes - Simsl3gacies' no glow mod Thank you for reading, browsing, downloading etc. Lot Size: 64x64 Lot Price (furnished): 390,674 Lot Price (unfurnished): 270,148 Additional Credits: Aminovas, HystericalParoxysm, JaneSamborsk, Blyss, Simsl3gacies and many others not mentioned here for their cosmetic default replacements which make this lot (and my game as a whole) look even better! COVID-19 for giving me the time to spend 4 days' work on a single lot (3 of which were spent on making the shell and landscaping!)

About your OC: Queen Phaere of Firgenstrame
Thank you for the tag, @forget-me-maybe <3 I'll tag @purpleasters-inseptember @coffee-with-pigeon-milk @commander-krios and @krawwan !
I'm kicking this off with art of Phaere I got from the wonderful @goromimii ; I have references from the game for Phaere's face, but this portrait shows her far more vividly <3 Onwards to the questions!
How would you describe their personality?
Phaere is a forthright open book most of the time, a woman who's grown up believing so innately in her right to rule that she has barely encountered the idea of shame. Very little gives her pause, except Lolth's curses. She cares a great deal about knowledge and about advancing Eilistraeen ideals... as well as her own and her kingdom's power. Sometimes, this conflicts a little; Eilistraee might not particularly approve of the matriarchal aesthetics Phaere's mother brought to Firgenstrame from the Underdark, but hey, old habits die hard. She loves pleasure, and imbibes it liberally, but believes it should be balanced by the pursuit of knowledge and justice. You know. Rolan sucking her toes whilst she provisions taxes to help the poor. That sort of thing.
Above all though - and she doesn't fully realise this herself at the beginning of In Service of Magic - she's a rather idealistic romantic, who saw her parents' non-traditional but apparently perfect and easy relationship and believed that the moment Eilistraee saw fit to deliver her curse-breaker, she'd have that too. As it turns out, it is rather more complicated than that - especially since her curse-breaker is Rolan, a walking mess of ambition, temper and contradiction.
What brings your character joy?
Nothing brings Phaere more happiness than to see her curse-breaker, Rolan, choosing to kneel willingly at her feet. She also loves lavishing him with pretty clothes and gifts, seeing him take joy in new books and magic, and curling up to read together.
She loves the thrill of a hunt - riding, falconry, archery - and the indulgent peace of good wine and excellent music. All the classic delights of being a Queen with your realm's wealth at your disposal. A hunt with her mother is a particular joy; they love to go riding, shoot a deer or two, and discuss the finer points of disciplining your submissive over a glass of wine afterwards.
What does your character strongly dislike?
She despises actual cruelty, which is a little complicated for her because she loves indulging it in the bedroom. (Consensual cruelty - but cruelty nonetheless). But her family are strongly opposed to the backstabbing and unpleasantness of the Underdark. She also loathes traitors for this reason.
She also gets easily annoyed by the old guard of advisers that she keeps around to mollify the human parts of her court and kingdom (and because it was her father's wish that his closest advisers continue after his death). They argue a lot, particularly over the aesthetics (...horny and decadent) of her court.
Is your OC scared of anything?
Further encounters with Lolth's followers. We'll get there in In Service of Magic, but as is hinted at in Chapter 3 and 4, she has some old and never-healing wounds that are a frequent source of pain to her - and one of the few secrets she keeps for emotional rather than purely practical reasons. Lolth's wrath is cruel and bitter, and as an emblem of Eilistraee's success, Phaere and her mother are forever marked as targets.
What is their alignment?
I'm not a huge fan of DnD alignments because they seem inflexible to me, and also - via which system of morality? Phaere is generally a wise and fair queen, but she rules via an inherited line, has never heard of democracy, cheerfully ignores men's opinions (though she comes to respect Rolan's), and so on. She believes she's got the divine right - and need - to rule this kingdom in Eilistraee's name, and will defend it to the death. Overall, I'd call her lawful good, but not necessarily by modern standards!
Here she is, my beloved, beautiful, slightly bonkers femdom queen with a loving heart and very itchy whip fingers. I love her (and Rolan) very much, and can't wait to get back to the next chapter of their story!

Summary:
“And you?” the drider said, his voice gravel and disdain. “What are you?” There was the briefest hesitation as his many eyes regarded Phaere, then dropped to the lyre that was still clutched in her hands.
“…aside from a dark minstrel." Astarion noticed how Phaere’s shoulders tensed at the term. “One who truly appreciates the beauty of the lyre.”
Astarion heard her take a breath, but before she could speak, he watched as she practically folded in on herself, the tell-tale sign that her mind and parasite had connected with the drider’s.
Then the connection broke, and Phaere stumbled forward. Astarion and Karlach both moved simultaneously, stepping forward to catch Phaere by her arms as her legs gave way and her lyre clattered to the ground.
“Are you alright, darling?” Astarion asked in a hushed whisper. He could hear her heartbeat this close, a quick and steady thud-thud-thud of… something like fear? “You look like you’ve seen a ghost.”
Phaere lifted her head and audibly swallowed.
“…Rylbros?”
Or: A formerly lolth-sworn Drow bard comes face to face with her past. And she must make a choice. READ ON AO3
Snippet of Chapter 1 under the cut:
“That’s that, then,” Kansif said, seemingly unbothered by Phaere’s cold demeanor. “Simply pluck a tune, and our guide to Moonrise will come scuttling.”
Scuttling? Astarion raised an eyebrow, but was distracted when Phaere lifted the lyre and started to play. She turned towards the vast darkness behind the camp as her fingers plucked the strings in a haunting melody, her eyes drifting shut as she played. Astarion wanted to close his eyes and listen, truly listen, but he was transfixed on her form as she played. He could feel Karlach tapping her foot next to him, sense how Shadowheart wanted to sway to the music even as she stood rigidly rooted to her spot. Even the goblins and the half-orc seemed transfixed on Phaere’s performance.
But then, Astarion heard it. Scuttling, right on cue. He snapped his eyes to the darkness ahead of them, just as a growling, guttural voice broke through the final notes of Phaere’s song.
“Ah yes, I hear them, your majesty. Calling us. Their god and their guide, together.”
Out from behind a twisted tree trunk stepped a hideous creature. Eight spindly legs on a giant thorax, topped with the upper half of a man coated in an armor-like chitin. His face was pale, with two regular eyes colored a deep blood-red, practically glowing in the light of the moonlantern he carried. His other eyes scattered across his forehead and cheek were black as pitch, blinking in a syncopated rhythm as he stepped closer, regarding Phaere with a curious tilt of his head.
Astarion might not be well-versed on Drow, but he knew a drider when he saw one.
“By the Gods. One of Lolth’s abominations,” he breathed. Karlach gave a low whistle, and Shadowheart made a noise of disgust somewhere in her throat.
Phaere simply stood stock-still next to Astarion, her eyes now transfixed on the drider as he approached. He looked as if he’d been in the wilderness for ages—his skin and chitin coated in a layer of dirt and grime. His hair was unkempt, snow white falling over his shoulder in messy waves, similar to Phaere’s at first glance, especially after a particularly bad fight. However, Phaere’s locks held more of a bluish tint, and were a whole lot softer to the touch than this creature’s hair looked—
Now was not the time.
“Greetings, in the Absolute’s name,” said Kansif, earning a sneer from the drider. “You have been charged with—guiding us…” Kansif looked down and away, the drider’s visage likely uncomfortable to look at for too long. Astarion couldn’t blame the poor sod, honestly.
“New flesh for you, my queen,” the drider hissed. “But, who are they?” He was looking over his shoulder as if speaking to an invisible presence, the look on his face flashing between stone-cold clarity and a haze, as if he were going somewhere else for the briefest of moments.
“Looks like he’s madder than a hatter,” Astarion murmured. “Absolutely lovely.” He wheezed a bit as Phaere elbowed him in the ribs, although there was a slight twitch of her lip. So she had found that funny. She wasn’t looking at him, though, her eyes still trained on the drider, her ears twitching as if she was listening to him hard. Astarion couldn’t quite read the look on her face, which was… unnerving, to say the least.
The last time he couldn’t read her easily was when they’d “rescued” and then promptly murdered the True Soul Nere, another Drow that Phaere had toyed with for a few minutes before giving into her rare flashes of anger.
Come to think of it, any time another Drow was involved—and the drider had definitely been a Drow once upon a time—Phaere simply… shut down.
Curious.
