The crew of the exploratory ship, The Little Bird. The captain, Diaf, hired this crew to traverse the stars, learning more about both the worlds around them… and themselves.

Think sci-fi adventure but the characters all have the vibes of a bunch of scientists stuck in Antarctica.

Hán and Cereza are the only humans onboard, the majority of the crew being aliens. This is a trend that continues for the galaxy at large for entirely non-suspicious totally not plot-related reasons.

I’m still working on worldbuilding for a lot of these guys but a couple of the tags I made for them have a decent amount of stuff. I made this bc I finally got around to finalizing the design for most of the characters! There are… a few that I will probably rehash again, but there shouldn’t be any major changes. The old version of this post went outdated when I updated the designs, so this is pretty much just a redo of that with the rest of the crew.

introducing..... MY VENTURE BROS OCS: A butterfly-themed villain and and her sidekick who are TOTALLY CRAMPING THE MONARCH'S STYLE!!!!! 🦋

Red Admiral has an origin story as ridiculous and unnecessary as any supervillain worth their salt. once an accomplished entomologist studying carnivorous lepidoptera, a bite from a mutated specimen gave her the ability to dissolve into a swarm of vampire butterflies the same way a typical vampire transforms into a swarm of bats. with her new power, she's turned to a life of crime simply for the novelty of it, and believes her claim to the butterfly-based villain niche is more legitimate than the Monarch's. (voice: Helen Mirren)

Swallowtail doesn't have powers, but makes up for it with her sick butterfly knife skills. she was a bit disappointed to discover that serving as a supervillain's right-hand woman is basically a glorified internship, but hey, it's still kinda cool. by day, Aditi Tallavarjula works at a hole-in-the-wall comic book shop frequented by one Gary Fischer. eventually he works up the nerve to ask her out, but hilarity ensues as both parties try to hide their henchman double-life from the other. (voice: Aparna Nancherla)

copy/pasting an old answer from retrospring about them:

"Gary was sent to the residential treatment center for stabbing his father repeatedly with a letter opener (the old man is well but furious, tbh it's more a 'go there and think about what you've done' deal than wanting to get help for his son who really needs it). Mikey was here quite a bit before him, his mother is currently in prison and he maybe kinda accidentally (?) set her boyfriend's house on fire, which in turn kinda busted out the fact that he was manufacturing drugs there, so no one died but he didn't have any guardians left to take care of him. He was placed in the center by social services because he was not doing too well in regular foster care (aka setting shit on fire and generally terrorizing both staff and kids). Now they're roomies :))) they literally get into a fist fight the day Gary arrives because he wants the top bed, which was Mikey's for months. Mikey ends up relinquishing it to him because he had such a good laugh throwing hands but ends up still crawling up there to sleep with Gary most of the time anyway (if Gary does not throw him off that day, it's a coin toss).

The place they're at is pretty much a mental health center for disruptive youths. It's cut off from everything, lost in the middle of the countryside, in a pretty sizeable old house. It's halfway between a boarding school and a regular mental institution, so they get both classes and group consultations, along with private counseling, some work around the house (they have an orchard and some small farm animals, plus the housework being divided between residents and staff to attempt to teach them community effort) and free time. It's the 70s so some methods are… Iffy lol, but it's honestly not as dark as the orphanage from my other story. Let's just say Mikey can spend a sizeable amount of time on sedatives and Gary gets his fair share too."

Roach has to hold your face still, his fingers squeezing your cheeks to pucker your lips so he can keep from startling you when his mandibles graze your skin. His tongue pushing out past the jointed jaw to invade your mouth, lick at your teeth and taste the way you slide your tongue against his in return. Eager to feel the vibrations in your throat, the softness of your skin, you yield to him so easily. Unguarded. The way he feeds you his spit makes your head spin. You're not supposed to eat anything the fae give you, but surely this is different. Surely this is nothing more than a possessive sweep of his tongue. Surely...

König sometimes(often times) is simply too big to kiss you properly. It's easier to tip your head back and slip his long tongue from beneath his hood. It's an eager thing too, squirming and desperate to force it's way past your teeth. He invades your senses, looming over you, closer and closer, as his tongue pushes deeper and deeper. You can almost feel the tip of it flicking against your esophagus, so far behind your ribs you don't have the muscles to gag. Maddening. Your lips stretch wide around his tongue, your body held in place like a sword swallower, cautious movements, as if any breath could pierce your diaphragm and leave you permanently breathless. He doesn't pull back until he's tasted the acid bite of your stomach. What was that old adage about feeding cats?
