Voilà, exploration team alpha is complete!! Character/world info utc :) I recommend zooming in so you can see details!!

The assignment: a trio board. One character has to be inspired by an Egyptian myth, one had to have avian/bird qualities, and one had to have something inspired by a Han dynasty artifact. Also, they all had to be shapeshifters whose forms also had to be represented. Dusty is based off of the Egyptian myth of Bastet vs Apep (he’s a cat and he’s got snake tattoos all over his arms), Sarge is based off of this Han dynasty tortoise figure that I thought was adorable, and Angie is a carrier pigeon :) all their little animals are their shapeshifted forms!! Also since Bastet is among other things a goddess of fertility, I have Dusty top scars. Laugh.

Also, the carrier pigeon to the right of Angie is my reference, not her form. I only realized afterward that in my sleep deprived haze I had added a shadow to it LOL.

The World:

This is a video game concept! My idea is that it’s like an exploration/story/art game starring these three exploring ruins for money and slowly discovering more and more secrets if this ancient lost civilization !!! In theory the player could swap between each character at will and they would all have their own little quirks and skills to help continue exploring — sarge can become invulnerable to attack, dusty can slip through tight spaces, angie can fly, etc. They all each also have a stat boost for combat listed on the board alongside their archetypes and moral alignments!

The characters:

This is the dad, the cat he said he didn’t want, and the gay older sister. Dusty is a stray with little to no morals who does just about anything for money. Sarge is a war veteran who lost his wife and son in the war he was fighting — and will never forgive himself for being away while they died. Angie is an orphan who grew up in poverty and mostly relied on odd jobs with a huge passion for archaeology (which she would have studied had she had the money for college). Sarge and Angie met when they were both rejected from the same popular exploration team and decided fuck it, let’s start our own then. They picked up Dusty half dead in the desert from heat exhaustion (bro does NOT take care of himself)! Dusty reminds Sarge a lot of his own son. He’ll never admit this out loud, but Dusty has an inkling that Sarge likes him more than he lets on, which is none.

I want everyone to know, even before his activation as an Avatar, Juliano was doing insane things. Hell, the entire RSC crew was.

Juliano was throwing hands with Mandy over the last bag of chips. Dusty and Anna were the gossipers, and by god, Nothing Got Past Them. Cory trained Midnight to steal from hecklers. Danielle nearly threw hands with Juliano's parents when she met them.

They were all crazy in some way. The universe activation just amplified it.

Weed: "Uhm, the... Accessory choice, are you quite sure it's right for the event? It looks positively fun, but I'm a tad worried that it might not be the thing in this particular context." He will instantly apologize if it looks like they hurt your feelings in any way.

Hey: "Ooh, funky! You sure you're comfy with that? Want me to help style it?" He still thinks it's atrocious btw but he'll try to fix it.

Dusty: "Give it here, mortal, I'm saving you from the imminent embarrassment you're dooming yourself to. Only one of us can pull this off."

Sleepy: "Is that what the kids are wearing these days? It's fine if you're having fun, just, when looking back at photos of this ten years down the line, don't say I didn't say anything." Accompanied by the most tired old man look you've ever seen on a twenty-something.

Agent Owl and agent Falcon: "According to section F subsection 19 of the EATT manual it is imperative all agents refrain from dressing conspicuously or in a manner that can be confused with an extraterrestrial, excluding the cases of disguise or outmost urgency: for full list of exceptions see addendum 8.1.1. Please alter your attire accordingly."
