I don't know why I seem to suddenly and RANDOMLY get new hyperfixations lately, but my partner pointed out that it's always when they're gone on a work trip 😂😂 the colors aren't super concrete on my s/i and the outfit in general is a work in progress still, but I've been having a lot of fun experimenting with the style!

So a consequence of rereading Chapters 4 and 5 of SFOASI from The Odyssey series by the utterly incredible HotCocoaaa ( @biscaanii ) and then listening to Hawk in the Night by Maddie Buckley soon afterward is getting immediate brainrot for the most depressingly brutal piece I could start 2024 with. It worked too well for the Gojo Clan, especially Cocoa's rendition of Satoru and his grandmother, Akemi. She's a terrible woman and she fascinates me.

What’s a song that describes their relationship? Or, what’s the song that they’ve deemed “their” song?

.... y'know, i don't know what "their" song in-universe is, but i know they have one. my first thought was that there's literally a song *about* them, but that feels a bit too self-indulgent even if i think it comes with the territory of being fantasy heroes in a setting where bards write elaborate ballads about said hero types.

a real song that i think describes their relationship, though, is wasteland, baby! by hozier. i think that ties into both the massive impacts they each have on each other, as well as the literal fact that their relationship starts while they are trying to save their world and *prevent* an apocalypse.

What is something they can never agree on? How do they meet in the middle?

OHHH heheh so. this is something i had to stop and think on a little bit, because this may be toeing at some spoilers for wayyyyy down the line in sunbringer's song. but... amid their disagreements in the story, there's one thing that comes to mind in particular. this is an issue that i think they would eventually come to an understanding on, but it takes time.

wyll originally encourages eden to consider reconnecting with his father abdiel. not because he thinks eden should just forgive and forget, but because he wants eden to be able to *have* a parental relationship with the one parent he has left, and he believes that forgiveness would be *better* for eden than holding onto the grief and resentment that's driven him throughout his life. (in part spurred by his own complicated feelings around his own father--wyll sees the parallels and wants eden to have a better relationship with *his* father.)

and as for gale... at first, gale really admires abdiel as a wizard and doesn't understand why eden would want to *hide* being the son of such a powerful, accomplished wizard, regardless of their relationship. and in some ways, him encouraging eden to accept that does help him, especially encouraging him to accept his heritage *in spite* of the shit abdiel put him through... but at first, gale ends up disregarding a lot of eden's feelings on the matter, even if he doesn't *mean* to do so.

and eden... does not react well to any of this, especially at first. it's very hard for him not to take it personally and assume the worst of people, even if he knows logically that wyll and gale both love him and *want* the best for him. he doesn't *want* to hear them telling him that he should forgive his father, or he should be *proud* to be the son of such a terrible man. so, he lashes out, flinching and hissing at them (metaphorically speaking).

(gale and wyll also have their own disagreements about this, especially after seeing how eden reacts to this. it's a Mess.)

as for how they meet in the middle on this... it takes a while, i think, but eventually eden actually hears them out and considers what they're saying. and he's stubborn and prideful and hates to admit that he was lashing out unfairly, even if he is on some level aware that he was. they're able to come to an understanding, and apologize to each other.

wyll and gale *do* encourage eden not to shy away from his past and heritage, and to let go of some of the resentment and rage he carries... but not for abdiel's sake. for his own.

(sidenote, but i've had an idea for a bit for, like... a side story/au sort of thing where the party meets eden's dad. no one likes him.)

wyll: wyll is a big fan of the forehead/temple/top of head kiss. it's a fantastic brief yet tender way to show affection in his opinion, pressing his lips to eden or gale's heads when he passes them, especially when they're wrapped up in their work and might not notice him right away.

tbh, i think wyll just loves showing affection to his partners in general--the specific place doesn't matter, as long as they know how much he cares for them every time he presses his lips to some part of their body.

i'm also very soft for the idea of wyll greeting his husbands by kissing their hands. don't look at me <3 (silly)

gale: similarly, gale loves a good forehead kiss, but what he really likes is being able to be a little over the top with his affection. like everything he does, gale loves deeply and fully, and every gesture oozes that love. whenever he can, he likes to stop and kiss them everywhere he can reach, quietly marveling at the fact that these two beautiful, amazing men love him and are his.

he also loves to tease them. whenever he passes by them, he likes to swoop in and give them a quick peck on the cheek, then dart away before they can respond. especially eden, because he thinks it's very CUTE the way eden will pout up at him every time.

eden: eden is very physically affectionate, but kissing is something he tends to hesitate on more often than not. he likes showing affection, but more often that manifests as cuddling or casual touches than kissing. random kissing tends to just fluster him.

but... especially once the trio's been dating for a while, eden starts doing so a little more often. his favorite way to kiss them is to just. lean up and peck their cheeks or lips real quick before going back to whatever he was doing before. his only obstacle is that they're both much taller than him. so... sometimes eden has to get creative.

(cue eden taking a running start to jump up onto gale to kiss his cheek and tackling him in the process, while gale yells "STARLIGHT I CAN SIMPLY BEND DOWN A LITTLE!!!!" repeat the process with wyll ad infinitum.)
