Meet: Inspector Guillaime Vaillant!

I'm NPC trash, so I made a WoL version of Inquisitor Guillaime :). Tried to, at least. Seems the dragon may not have gotten his disguise quite down :).

Anyways, he's 25-26 in the slightly-altered canon I developed for him. The dragon still took his identity (and spellbook!), but it was his partner who died that day buying him time to escape- although he was by no means unscathed. He decided to leave Coerthas to take up the sword and make a living as a PI/detective in Ul'Dah- until he became a Scion, that is.

Personality-wise, he is not quite as zealous as his imposter makes him out to be, although he is certainly still deeply religious. At first glance, he can appear to be a harsh and quite intimidating figure. Others have taken to calling him "The Hound", due to his tenacity and will to pursue those he thinks are guilty. However, in reality he is an honest soul who cares a lot about the work he does and the people he protects. Although he is certainly not perfect, he tries his best to only be as harsh as he absolutely needs to be in any given situation, as he believes Halone discourages unneccessary cruelty. He also prefers to take his time to build a case and examine all possible scenarios before he brings any suspicions against someone, as in Ishgard convicting the wrong person could easily get innocent people killed. It is also for this reason that he prefers to be in charge of the situation- he gets anxious leaving certain tasks in the care of others.

His biggest weakness, perhaps, is his tendency towards black-and-white thinking. His opinion of a person can change in an instant, depending on whether or not he thinks they are responsible for something cruel, and he can have trouble seeing nuance in some situations. Still, he does his best to live by Halone's teachings and be forgiving.
