Summary: It's raining on Coruscant. The Coruscant Guard gets a visit from a Jedi youngling who is very enthusiastic about the change in weather.

Notes: You'd think there's only so many things I can write that have the Corries and rain in them. Well, apparently I haven't run out of ideas yet.

Fox heaved a sigh as the knocking on his door did not cease. He'd already told them to come in, did he have to open the door for them? Really?

He closed his eyes and allowed himself a moment of rest, then pushed himself up and walked to the door panel, pressing the button in a way that would have him writing a requisitioning request for a new one in no time.

A child was standing in the door. They beamed up at him. "Oh good. I don't know your door code."

Which was exactly how Fox liked it. "What are you doing here, Ciph?" He knelt down in front of the small Rodian jetii cadet.

"Thorn asked me to come get you." Their voice dropped to a conspiratorial whisper. "It's raining outside."

Well, that would explain why the Corrie base was deserted. "Alright, I'll just finish-"

Ciph grabbed his arm and tugged on it. "The rain won't be there forever, the datawork can wait. That's what the Force is telling me and you can trust the Force." They nodded very seriously.

Fox rolled his eyes. "Of course. I am very glad the Force could make time to check over my datawork deadlines for me."

Ciph beamed. "Great, come on!"

Seeing as there was no getting out of Ciph's grip when they were this sure of themselves, Fox pressed the door panel to close his office and reluctantly trudged after them. He did like rain, most of the vode did. They'd grown up with it and it just settled something in them to hear it or to have the rain drum onto their armour while they patrolled.

They could move through the rain without any issue. It was a good ally of theirs while the natborns had to slide around and felt generally miserable because of it.

Well, except Ciph, apparently.

"Is your armour waterproof?" Ciph asked curiously as they made their way to one of the side entrances.

Fox hummed. "Occasionally."

Ciph peered up at him suspiciously. "That's not a proper answer."

Fox allowed a grin to spread over his face. "Are your clothes waterproof?"

"Yes." Ciph pointed at their jacket proudly. "I asked the quartermaster for one and they still had raincoats! And rain boots! Have you ever jumped into puddles?"

Fox had. "I think you'll have to show me that."

Ciph gasped. "I will."

"Thorn." Fox sighed.

Thorn beamed at him, entirely dressed in civvies with a bright red raincoat draped over him. "Fox! I managed to get some for you as well, you have to try this, it's comfortable and it holds off all the rain!"

Apparently it had, and now Thorn's coat was dripping it everywhere.

"Put up a wet floor sign."

Thorn looked down at the puddle. "Ah."

"He's right though!" Ciph jumped in while Thorn made his way to a storage closet. "The coat is warm too!"

"And it's needed for jumping into puddles, I'd assume?"

Ciph beamed. "Absolutely."

Fox was aware that if he'd put up more of a fight, they would have happily let him keep his armour on. The fact was though, that most of Coruscant went into hiding when it started raining properly. They had no idea what to do with the torrents of water when the weather machine failed.

Fox and his vode though, they were experts.

"You look awesome!" Ciph cheered.

Fox had to admit that the coat really was warm. And it was the same colour as Thorn's, quite close to the Corrie red they wore every day. It was a nice bonus.

"Alright!" Thorn beamed. "We're ready for anything!"

It had been.. a while since Fox had seen Thorn so excited. He just nodded along and followed them outside. It would be good to catch a break.

I'm not used to making such thin lineart in my drawings. Of all the pieces I've done, this is the one where I managed to create the thinnest lines. I actually feel like I enjoyed the lineart more than the finished piece because, in the final version, the delicate lines tend to fade away.

I made this drawing a while ago but didn't post it, so I decided to share it now. I'm also including the doodle and the lineart, as it might be interesting to see the process.

I want to credit @monstermonger for inspiring the style of this one. Her style gives me whatever the visual equivalent of ASMR is. It makes my eyes water (in a good way lol).

When I was young I used to ink with pen a lot, sometimes painting in with watercolor, but I'd gotten out of that since learning digital art. I'm finding I miss it. There's something about nice black ink that tickles my brain. With this piece I wanted to try to imitate the technique digitally. You can be the judge as to whether I achieved that.

BACK in like January 2016 I was getting into S.treet F.ighter so ofc my dumbass decided to make a self-insert oc with the placeholder name of ‘labrat’ who was from Canada then slowly further into development she just kinda went and became her own character and ta-da one rp blog made later u have cipher.

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVOURITE ASPECTS OF YOUR CURRENT MUSE? How surprisingly easy and fun it is to get Cipher interacting with other peoples muses. Kind of ironic tho since Cipher, u know, doesn’t like social interaction all that much nor does she like getting directly involved in shit.

WHAT’S YOUR BIGGEST INSPIRATION WHEN IT COMES TO WRITING? UHHHHHHHH.......................seeing where the thread will go usually gets me working on writing?? i dunno my guy

FAVOURITE TYPES OF THREADS: YOU KNOW I HAVE NO IDEA? Yeah I haven’t been involved with that many threads so I can’t rlly say anything it all just depends on my mood if anything/ Except smut. Not in this household.

BIGGEST STRUGGLE IN REGARDS TO YOUR CURRENT MUSE: Believe it or not, it’s trying to keep my own character from being too OOC in some situations even with her unpredictable  and somewhat odd behavior there’s always, like, a certain line that shouldn’t be crossed. And it’s even more weird when it’s writing your own character of all things.

So TL;DR: Ciphs fun and all, but I’m extremely cautious when it comes to pinning her into certain situations and trying to keep her in character despite her erratic behaviors due to mental illnesses I keep forgetting to write into her profile (anxiety, severe depression, low key suicidal, borderline personality disorder, the works)

Warmup #28 - Corries

Rating: G

Summary: Xat and Fib escort a clan of younglings to the zoo.

"And we'll get to see all the exhibits?"

It was an important question. Fib had checked over the entire zoo map in preparation and there were a lot of them. When Ciph had told her that their clan couldn't go on field trips anymore because of the security risks, she and her batchmate had immediately volunteered. They could protect Ciph's clan and take tons of pictures for their fellow Corries. It was a foolproof plan.

"With the plan I have devised, nothing should be able to stop us from seeing all the exhibits." The creche master assured them.

Plans did not hold up for long around Corries. Fib decided not to tell him that.

"We're going in disguises?" Ciph gasped. "I always wanted to do that!"

Fib nodded very seriously. It had been in the security briefing. They would pretend to be a school class since those visited the zoo regularly and no one would be paying any mind to them that way. It was a foolproof plan.

Fib tugged on the civvies she'd picked out for herself. Loose pants and a Corrie-red top. It wasn't cold enough for the cool jacket Paperclip had found for her and she hated the weather machine for that.

Xat spun to show off the short cape fixed to his shirt. "I could get used to this."

"I prefer my armour." Fib hummed and started to stash a vibro knife in her sleeve. "More protection."

Xat considered that for a moment. "Armour-weave vests would be cool. Protection and we don't have to lug our entire kit around."

Fib made a sound of agreement. It was true. And high quality armour-weave vests likely offered more protection than their plastoid shells. The Republic had definitely shared no expense. Ha.

"What are you most excited for?" Ciph asked, tugging on Fib's hand to lead her to the big map of the entire zoo. Jokes on them, she had done her research.

"I'd like to see the tookas that make sure the zoo says pest-free."

Ciph looked up at her, their eyes glittering in the sun. "They have those?!"

Fib grinned. "Yeah. They're not in any specific enclosure, but they should be around. They're very busy doing their jobs."

Xat walked up to them. "Animals with jobs?"

"Animals with jobs!" Ciph cheered.

Well, they had their objective set. Now they just had to make sure they met it.

"Where exactly could we find the tookas?" Xat asked, eyeing the map he had snatched from a cart.

Fib shrugged. "They don't have a designated area. We'll have to be lucky-"

"Tooka!" Ciph interrupted.

"Yes, like a tooka."

"No, tooka!"

Fib looked over.

A beautiful red-coated tooka was sitting in a patch of sunlight, taking a nap.

"They deserve a nap for working so hard." Ciph announced. "We shouldn't disturb them."

Fib agreed. She snapped a quick picture anyways, Fox would love it.

Mission successful.

Experimenting grayscale I tried creating art using grayscale for the first time, with the intention of adding color later. This is my first attempt at this technique.

It's just a sketch, and I don’t think I’ll finish it since I mainly did it to test coloring after working in grayscale, so I'm posting it as is.

Regarding the character, he’s one of the characters from my project, Maiden Abyss.
