New character alert! This is Florence, or Florrie, another friend of Renée's and Melissa's from school. Florrie is the cheerful, sociable type. She can be a bit ditzy and doesn't have the best impulse control, but she has a good heart.

Melissa, in contrast, is usually the serious one. She's certainly serious about going to college. She's never been interested in heterosexual marriage and motherhood (something most people expect her to outgrow), and since marrying a woman isn't an option and living alone isn't really an option either, Melissa's life plan is to stay with her father. Unfortunately, it doesn't quite pan out that way.

Renée changes her mind a lot about what she wants. She's prone to being dazzled by the shiny new idea, and takes inspiration from whoever she thinks is cool. This interaction with Melissa plants the seed of 'college' inside her mind, but it doesn't sprout until much later.

The twins!! Frankie and Florence!!

Florence is the “older” twin (I say that loosely cus they were born at the same time. Florence just grows faster than Frankie, she’s quite literally the bigger sister lol). She very much still takes on the older sister role with Frankie tho, love-hate and all. Sword fighting is her love and life, and she’d probably strangle Frankie with her hair if he tried to dabble in it (thankfully he’s not a sports guy). She doesn’t like to share (with Frankie) and has a tendency to view people as less than her unless they can prove otherwise. If you are someone she cares about she is fiercely loyal and won’t let you say no to her help. She puts her 100% into everything she does and will not settle for less (even if it hurts her in some way). She has a hard time understanding people and how they feel, so she comes off as mean or cold (even if that isn’t her intention). She tries very hard to be strong, she refuses to show weakness, and she thinks low of herself if she can’t live up to her own expectations.

Frankie is the “younger” twin. He does take on more of the younger sibling role between the two in that he tends to get what whatever he wants from everyone and gets kinda butt hurt when things don’t go his way. With that said, he does not go through life thinking he’s the king of the world entitled to everything. He’s very good with people (which is why they like him) and he’s got a calming air about him. He’s a very mellow fellow, or at least that’s usually how he comes across. If you really know him you’ll catch on to the fact that he’s got some strong OCD that makes him literally lose his mind if he’s left to his own devices (which is why he tries to surround himself with good people and a more predictable day-to-day life). He’s very understanding of people’s needs and is very good at recognizing the intricacies of people and their lives. He tries very hard to be independent, he won’t take handouts from people, and he has a hard time asking for help (so much so that he could literally be on the verge of death and he won’t even make a peep about it to anyone).

They both love their dad and want to prove themselves to him (they also want to prove that they are capable and independent adults that don’t need their daddy’s assistance 24/7), so they moved out of his home in order to pursue their dreams and make something of themselves. They try to out-do each other all the time, they still haven’t caught onto the fact their bickering reminds their dad of when they were kids (and that they don’t need to prove their worth to him).
