people coming out in the tags on that "better boyfriend" poll and also now in the mash tag in general to be like "um actually bj is unhinged and has Problems" like oh right I forgot hawkeye is the most hinged man on earth and would never do freak shit like demanding that bj edge him for an entire day. clearly hawkeye craves a normal mentally stable individual to be in a relationship with. lol
#obviously people can have whatever opinions and preferences on fictional characters they want and this isn't me being like#you MUST ship hawkbeej endgame period#but it's such a funny argument to me to be like ''bj is clearly the wrong choice bc he has Problems''#by that logic nobody should ever be in a relationship with hawkeye because his problems have problems#mashposting

Challenge/contest with a prize (spread the word y'all)
Okay, since there were some people interested, I announce a little contest for my fellow incest shippers.
Rules:
You must write about an incest or incest-adjacent ship that hasn't been featured on this blog. But, since I don't post about parentcest, grandparentcest and selfcest at all, it can't be a ship of these categories either. Don't have anything against it, just thought it would be fair. So bring on your unpopular ships ^^ You can check if your ship has been mentioned or not, by search. Try inputting characters' names or the media's title. Or you can just ask me and I'll say if this ship has been mentioned or not.
You must write an introduction to the ship, where it's made clear who they are and why do you ship them. Whether you include spoilers or not is your decision, but I'd prefer if you did go in depth and at least briefly described your ship's canon interactions.
Non blood-related ships are allowed, but fauxcest (think they're related but are not) isn't. And, just my personal preference, I can't stop you, of course, but I would really like to hear about blood-related ships more. AU ships, OC x canon, selfships etc. are also not allowed! (Forgot to add, but real people ships are very not allowed, but historical fiction is - for example, if you take Cesare/Lucrezia, you should specify which fandom are they from, but NOT real life Cesare and Lucrezia. That was an example, you can't take this ship obviously)
You can include your opinions, headcanons, meta, screenshots, whatever you want really, and if you don't want to, that's okay too, but make your introduction interesting to read. Basically, sell your ship to me 😁
Send it through the ask or submission. If you do so anonymously, then write your wishes for the prize in the same message in case you win, cause I won't be able to contact you obviously. Or you can send the message to me through DMs and I will post anonymously (so only I will know who the author is), but contact you if you win.
Prize:
I know how hard it is to find art of your favorite unpopular ship, so here's your treat: you'll get an art of your ship, made specially for your tastes! :) The art won't be drawn by me, you can rest assured that I wouldn't have anyone competing for that. It will be commissioned by me though. You can't choose the artist, sorry, but I promise you that I know decent artists and you won't be disappointed (I hope).
I will choose the winner myself, judging by how interesting their introduction was (I won't swear to be absolutely objective, but yk it's my contest soo 😂)
Timeframe:
From the time this was posted, to 10th of September.
Important: If there are less than 5 participants, the event will be cancelled.
(but I'll still post your message, of course)

[EDIT/COMMENT. This is kinda half baked. There’s a lot more to this topic that isn’t addressed here. Also, i didn’t see the material that started the convo so it’s not exactly about that. FWIW.]
PEACE LOVE & FiCTION
Chiming in on the objections to Tombur, teenbur, etc.
Guys. RELAX and quit shaming each other. Be nice.
Teenagers have sex. Teenagers also think about sex. Published YA novels are full of it — sometimes first-time stuff, sometimes taboo age gap stuff, sometimes even incest or really icky stuff (looking at you, VC Andrews).
In fanfiction, first-time fics in particular are super normal and often involve minor characters. Why minors? Simple. (1) Your first time kissing or having sex or whatever is interesting, and your 65th time is boring. (2) Many if not most people have their first sexual experience before age 18.
There is nothing aberrant about writing or enjoying erotica about teenagers. [EDIT: Within reason. I’m really only contemplating stories where characters are doing things that are reasonable for their age, not younger characters or incongruously explicit material. ]
People are somehow cool with rape/incest/etc sex involving adults—gross and totally illegal in real life— but shame people for teen sex fics.
It should also be noted that enjoying or writing erotica involving teen characters is not pedophilia. Pedos are people who prefer pre-pubescent children. Post-pubescent teens have secondary sex characteristics and it isn’t at all deviant to find older teens attractive in certain contexts.
Adults exploiting or having sex with minors is obviously illegal and not okay. Writing sexually explicit scenes about any age characters for minor audiences is not okay.
Fictional erotica and sexual exploitation of minors are entirely different things.
Label your stuff for 18+ audiences and write whatever you want. Post it in places where proper guardrails can be applied to prevent young readers from stumbling upon it. If you find something icky— don’t read it.
(Not totally sure what my position is on fan art involving explicit drawings of teenagers. I find it super gross but not necessarily immoral or illegal, as no kids are harmed. If it’s labeled properly people can avoid it. Opinion on this not fully formed.)
[***These are my opinions- reasonable people can disagree.]
PEACE LOVE & FiCTION, friends.

I just saw a theory that Shin will serve as a replacement for Mara Jade (Luke's wife) in canon. Someone decoded the writing on Baylan's arm and found the names of the old trio there. The theory is that Shin will continue this list (if Baylan dies) and that's how she meets Luke. What does the Wolfwren Army say about this?
I've heard that too, but I personally don't want to give it much stock, honestly? I like Shin as her own character, and I like Mara as her own as well;
I'm really not sure on what all I can say to that, really 😅 Disney is gonna do whatever will get them the most money and whatever fits their own verse. Whichever way though, Wolfwren, Maraluke, Sabezra 🤷♀️ just because something's canon or not doesn't mean we can't ship our lil fictional blorbos
and if Disney does go the Shin → Mara route, and they script it well enough, I'm sure I'll find the ship in my read list, just because; I care less about the ship and more about someone letting my favorites get a hug
Obviously, I'm not speaking on behalf of any other wolfwren shippers here, you'll have to see their opinions, but at the end of the day, i just want Shin Hati to get the love and respect they deserve, and from what I've seen on screen, my personal preference is on wolfwren.
And as someone who hasn't had the time or patience to sit down and read Mara's full story or any of the comics, I'm sure there are more experienced people out there who could offer a proper conversation with storybacked references for their views, I'm sure not the brightest in the box so all I can say is I'm here for the love
💕

Not sure what I am in terms of it (pro/com, highly unlikely to be anti from what I've seen.. I'm too new to this kind of thing to make a label identity) but something I've been wondering in relation to "antis" for this is "do you like EVERY aspect of every fiction you watch? do you want to do it in real life or do you approve of it happening?" because I see so many people who go for whatever reason (likely because they were told it's the "right thing to do"?) who are filled with intense hatred towards pro shippers and they will like medias which have these illegal aspects and might post they like the characters and stuff. If the difference isn't "I find it gross so I'm against it" , what is then? If the murder in these is enjoyable to you, there's this "moral" being implemented into fiction and then what decides what is okay and what isn't if not disgust? And then why would it be okay for person who finds incest or whatever disgusting and thinks it shouldn't be allowed to exist and the person who thinks that about homosexuality? I'm NOT for either of those, obviously (the "shouldn't be allowed to exist" part specifically, I don't have anything against people's personal preferences on likes or dislikes). The only argument could be "but in real life" but it's NOT real life. And then if that argument is used for the murderer in fiction enjoyer, what's up with that? I'm not saying that "antis" approve of some actions if they don't think fiction is a big difference from real life. But I don't get the logic. And then the application of these beliefs if it is to be anti any "problematic" thing in fiction... are horror movies not allowed to exist anymore? artistic expression? and what's the limits for what is okay or not? is it wrong to draw it in your own room and nobody else sees it? what's the big difference between that and someone who shares it online in a specific place and tagged appropriately (which if I'm not mistaken is the pro shipper belief)? should anything that may be controversial be removed from the internet? and I see some "antis" hate what's going on with KOSA? This isn't a rhetorical or a "antis are so weird" thing. I genuinely don't get it. I'd ask publicly but I don't want people to be mean to me or harass me.. (or worse) and then if anyone thinks "yes its biased but i dont care and I hate it anyways" sort of thing, sure. but that isn't a genuine argument you can make against something. since no opinion is more important than another. and other person could say the opposite.
"Rules for thee but not for me" seems to be one of the biggest anti vibes.
Honestly, it's probably better off not digging yourself into the trenches and outwardly choosing a side to label yourself with. Proship is really just believing that harassment over fiction is wrong - but truth be told, that's pretty much the normal person mindset anyways.
Smacking on the label unfortunately just makes you a target. So only bother with labelling yourself if you're prepared to deal with the assholes.

Exactly! The acting is fine. Even for characters I hate, I didn't hate any of the actors. They did their job.. At least in my personal opinion. But I felt like I could've possibly felt differently about certain characters if a lot of the plot had more character development for some characters.
Yes. The fandom is already a smaller fandom. Why do I always have to enjoy fandoms with a smaller fanbase? That's a huge problem for me.
And it's even worse when there was fewer people, even active people, to have conversations with about that fandom. There's so many more inactive people than there is of active people in smaller fandoms. And it's a problem because I need other people to talk to about everything in the fandom. Obviously Sweet Home is one of the smaller fandoms.
Now I'm just repeating myself. So ignore that.
Maybe? I may do that. Because I wouldn't mind having conversations privately with people since I usually prefer that. And, if I ever send my messages through inbox like this, I prefer anonymous since I've never liked "revealing" myself publicly. People think I'm shy for that reason.. But I'm not shy, I just don't feel comfortable being exposed to others.
And I don't think people would appreciate the page being spammed a lot of the time, especially with messages. So that's another reason.
~
Yeah! Dark Hyunsu is his monster half. Apparently a monster persona (if you could call it that) makes you more confident, arrogant, even as prideful as the demon. While also having that childish pettiness too.
Let's not forget the demon and monster are both really prideful about their appearance. Expensive fashion, always looking at themselves in the mirror. One definitely reincarnated into the other.. That is the only explanation I have when it comes to those two characters now.
And then I kept thinking. Mosnter Hyunsu kept saying, basically, "You can't have one without the other." You have to accept him as he is, the human and monster sides. Which make me think dark and light sides.
Dark and light is yin and yang. The yin and yang symbols represents a balance in the universe, that you can't have one without the other. It's surprising that no one said that before. Because if you can accept the person's light and dark sides, you can accept them for who they are.
I went philosophical again.
I blame my abstract thinking process.
I've been overthinking too much about nothing.
~
Actually.. If you (or a character you created) was a hybrid, an infectee, neohuman, whatever you want to call it. What would your powers be?
That's a thought that I thought about before. In a fictional world, I like the idea of being a hybrid like Hyunsu; a natural human monster type rather then the neohumans like unemotional human monster hybrids.
I don't know if that made sense but that's the only way I can explain it to someone. So hopefully that makes some sense to you.
Yeah I never hate on the actors, they’re always just doing their jobs and if they play an evil character or whatever then they shouldn’t get hate for what that character did in the show (prime example is dori sakurada who plays niragi suguru in alice in borderland who is a terrible person in the show but the actor is a sweetheart in irl from what I’ve seen). I also just wish the characters could’ve been written differently for certain things.
I HATE THAT THIS FANBASE IS SO SMALL I ALWAYS GET INVOLVED WITH THE SMALL FANBASES TOO BRO ITS SO SAD 😭😭😭😭😭 I HATE IT SO MUCH OMG. none of my friends (even the ones who like read the comics and stuff - though I can understand because they know the show will be different so they don’t want to ruin their view of the webtoon) won’t watch the show and obsess over it with me. it also could just be my obsessive traits over these types of things though and how I just hyper fixate on these things and they don’t really have that but yeah. (sorry run on sentence there)
Don’t feel pressured to talk to me in my dms if you don’t want to! I completely understand if that’s not what you want to do and everything if it doesn’t make you feel comfortable. these are always the things that you want to take with a grain of salt because I still am just a random stranger on the internet. I promise I’m not a weirdo but then again… stranger on the internet. ALWAYS USE SAFE PRACTICES ON THE INTERNET!!!
that’s just something I always want to emphasize because I did not when I was a kid and I’m pretty sure I once showed myself in a sports bra as an 11 year old to possibly a grown man or something
story time on that is that I wanted to apply to be a gymnastics member of this youtube show I think or something and I was doing it over video call with this person but they didn’t show their face. Me, as an 11 year old, found nothing strange about this until my mom walked in on me doing it and scolded me and told me about internet safety and stuff. not that this is anything like that at all but still. internet safety do be crucial.
I would not mind being spammed though at all! I would love to talk about sweet home with you and everything and also possibly other fanbases that we are both a part of!!
I like the Dark Hyun-su concept along with the My Demon concept and everything! the reincarnation idea is always a fun topic for me and I love creating ideas for it. it would definitely make sense if were trying to tie the two fandoms together and everything. Dark hyun-su dies at some point or just get yoinked by god and used as a demon. the only thing Jeong Gu-won needs is the badly animated wing haha.
~
NO that totally makes sense!
For me - and I’ve actually thought about this a lot - as a monster that I think I would turn into I think it would have something to do with dragons. if I was a neohuman then maybe my appearance would just become one of a dragon (wings, scales, sharper nails maybe, etc).
I love dragons and I always have (hopefully I will get a tattoo of one soon but I don’t really have the money for that just yet, especially for the size that i want which is a pretty big tattoo).
If I had to choose what neohuman I would be it would also probably just be some sort of dragon type or whatever.
What type would you want to be anon?
Also if you’d like to stay as an anon you should give me an emoji or something so you can be my ___ anon. I’ve always wanted to be like those writers with those emoji anons and whatever 😭😭
(cuz I’m a jealous jealous jealous gurlllllll)
Anyways, have a great day!!!!!

I'm a destiel LOVER. I adore those two gorgeous gongeouses. But I have a big bone to pick with lots of other destiel shippers and SPN Fandom goers and that is:
The heteronormativity y'all are constantly perpetuating within the Fandom for the ship itself.
The arguments about who's topping or bottoming I stumble across under very NORMAL and even funny posts about these two characters used to be funny to me, but now it's getting borderline fetishy. And I'm not even saying the idea of one of them being a stone top or stone bottom is ridiculous or stupid, I'm talking about the way y'all portray it.
I hate to use this internet coined word so freely, but the literal twinkification of grown 40+ year men in a serious context is so weird and creepy to me. And the way you guys WRITE it is so out of character for both of them.
I get that different shit gets different people off, but I need you all to stop and ask yourselves whether or not your view of these characters, and any characters within a ship in general, is healthy. Gender roles are harmful, and if you keep adhering to them in this sense, it's going to affect your real world views.
There are quite literally people so obsessed with MLM ships that they will invest their real life time thinking about the SEXUAL dynamics of REAL people.
I mean yeah, your kink fics are creative or whatever, but I also want to remind you of the inherent sexualization of 'girly' behavior found within even the straight community. I'm not talking about femininity- I ADORE femininity.
I'm talking about how pedophilic it can come off as when you write your little 'soft uwu small beanGROWN ADULT REGARDLESS OF GENDER OR SEX' as childish and girly.
Yes, this character is my pretty little princess too, but I'm not gonna spend my precious time mental illnessing my way through art and fanfiction blatantly depicting who is who in the bedroom, as a way to point fingers and be like LOOK SEE! ITS CANON THAT THIS MASCULINE CHARACTER IS OBVIOUSLY JUST A LITTLE STEREOTYPED VIXEN IN DISGUISE!!!
Get a life, or at least, respect yourself and other by not soullessly arguing with a wall about top and bottom dynamics. They’re literally just sexual bedroom preferences, not a lifestyle.
If you're proud of your sexual preferences, good for you. I literally think that's great, and I don’t even hate you for it. On the other hand, if you are my target audience for this post, please don't misconstrue anything I just said just because it pissed your sick little MLM fetishist brain off. And rather analyze your feelings and ideas, and maybe get help with your obsessive line of thinking.
Anyways, so sorry if this reads as very scatterbrained -signed by a switch!destiel truther. (I love all opinions on what y'all think their preferences are, but please please please stop letting yourselves get addicted to this kind of Fandom behavior. It's psychological.)
I'm a queer person, and a very mature one I like to think, and I THINK that until y'all challenge how comfortable you are to be acting this way, the world will remain unchanged and stereotypes will continue to harm e v e r y o n e.
How do you people manage to rationalize this yucky stuff? Please don't go giving me that 'but it's a coping mechanism' stuff either, cuz that's the same argument made about r@pe fiction.

rebranding : god7stims -> purplehazestims
anti-harassment, YKINMKATO. you respect me, i'll respect you (& still will even if you don't.)
requests? closed.
f.a.q. —
am i allowed to interact if (xyz)?
yes. this is a stim blog, my personal beliefs and opinions don't matter, and the only opinion / 'rule' i will ever enforce is be anti-harassment.
do you have a white/blacklist?
no. obviously i'm biased towards sources i recognize, but i'm willing to fulfill any request no matter the source.
will you make stimboards for nsfw media?
yes. i'm hesitant to engage with nsfw sources for personal reasons, but if you're willing/able to send a sfw image to use (or if sfw images of the source are easy to find online,) then it's fine.
will you make stimboards of real people? *
yes with limitations. i won't make ship boards, but just the individuals is fine. i have no opinion on rpf, but i'd prefer to play it safe & not open that discourse on my blog.
* the no ship rule doesn't include selfship requests as you , the requester , are consenting to it & i'm not breaking any potential boundaries Thumbs up
* does that include youtuber personas / vtubers?
no. if you want to request a ship board for say, the fictional sander sides characters or hololive persona #2838 or something then that's fine. i don't consider them "real people" as it's clear the person is playing a character.
do you only make fandom / ship boards?
no. that's originally what the blog was made for, but i'm willing to do whatever. my only limit is song/music related stuff, it's jst too vague for me.
when will my request be answered?
it depends. like most tumblr users, i have extremely poor mental health. if i have a queue running or am posting at least once a day then you can expect it to be fulfilled in 1-2 days, if it's been a week or more w/o activity then i'm not sure but eventually.
i have a question that's not answered here!
send in an ask and i'll answer it to the best of my abilities.

i do not often talk about stuff like this, but i am now!! setting my bases on this one extremely particular feeling i have about something i see commonly enough to be confused by (will be talking about transmen in explicit fanfiction, put under a readmore in case any1 don’t wanna deal with that which is perfectly understandable. also obv disclaimer please don’t read this if you’re a minor. personal preference):
alright. i think it is weird how often transmen in fanfiction end up being the bottoms.
this is such a weird thing for me to talk about hence the read more, but for anyone wondering, in case it wasn’t blatantly obvious, i am a trans man myself and am basing this biased opinion on my life experience and not anything else really. my blog, my rules baybee B)
but anyway back to the topic at hand. whenever i look through a fandoms ao3, any fandom at all, whenever a trans guy is involved in an explicit fic, he almost always is described as the bottom whether it be in the works tags or be shown later on throughout the fic. i just. don’t understand why??
what is the idea here. that transmen are bottoms by default? that we will automatically be fine with using our genitals to satisfy a partner? i get confused. don’t get me wrong, there are many guys like that out there(nothin wrong with it either), what i am pointing out is the near constant of this trend wherein that is the assumption.
it reminds me of the abo conundrum i have talked about once before. why must the dynamics be so simple? hurrdurr alpha big strong top who protect weak omega mate. hurrdurr cisman big strong protect weak transmate who’s oh so small and fuckable and defenseless. do you see where i am going with this? i’m not going mad am i? to see that some authors just want to use transmen as stand-ins so that they don’t have to tag their work with abo?
please validate the words i spew. it feels almost perverted the way people write about us. as if we’re not real? goes all the way back to yaoi dynamics too. some people cannot fathom a relationship where it’s not just a simple top/bottom dynamic. idk man. shits weird and i see it wherever i go. (tragically even in the sonic fandom while scrolling through the ao3 tag. I DO NOT READ IT FOR IT IS ABOUT MINORS, OBVIOUSLY. THE OBSERVATION IS MADE THROUGH THE WORKS TAGS. prefacing that because i am paranoid <3
anyway. last paragraph because otherwise i will go mad. i feel deranged typing this out honestly. there are probably a thousand different explanations as to why certain authors write transmen the way they do in explicit fiction, but i just. cannot unsee the world the way i view it. cannot unsee the unspoken thread of if a man in a gay relationship is more “feminine”, whether that be by being an omega, or not being cis, or being short or whatever else, is automatically in the position of “bottom”. it just boggles my mind. feel free to add on to this. i’m sorry for going insane live. it just feels so weird, how many characters will be headcanoned as trans men just so they can get pregnant :/ feels weird tbh. that’s all you see us as? men that OF COURSE want to get impregnated and give birth why wouldn’t we? it’s not like there’s usually crippling dysphoria. oh wait lmao
#honestly will probably delete this after i wake up#but i had to get this off my chest at least once#went goofy with it sorry 😔😩

Hi! I really like your stories, thank you sooo much for sharing them!! If it's okay, I have a question: I've been in the Top Gun fandom for a few months now, and read quite a few Hangster stories (including yours as well) and it seems to me, that many stories the basic plot is that Bradley fucks up, Jake is near perfect and Bradley has to grovel to get together with him. And while this perhaps oversimplifies it, it honestly feels that way and it's starting to become annoying for me. Now while I might be bias, because I think Bradley has become one of my favourite characters, I'm not blind to his faults. And I know that he was the primary antagonist in TG:M to Maverick's protagonist, at least looking back on the film it feels that way to me... But regarding the Hangster storyplots, what do you think? It's just I've started noticing this pattern, or pehaps it's just me being defensive over a character. Thank you in advance! Sorry for my english. And once again thank you sooo much for your stories!!!
hello!
So this is just my take, which is obviously only a personal opinion, but I think there's a general consensus that in this world where bradley/jake are exes in the movie, Bradley was probably the one who broke it off, based on their actions in the film. I think that's just the popular take? It's open to interpretation. I think people just have ways they lean or prefer and that might be the popular general plot. To be honest, I don't read a ton so I have a hard time speaking to that, but you know, every writer has the story in their head they want to tell for whatever reason, and the connection they feel, etc. I think my advice would be just to start reading something, and if you don't love the portrayal, it's totally okay to exit out! No harm, no foul. Everyone has preferences, and it's all fiction anyways and especially with fic it's just for fun, some story someone wanted to tell their way, so there's no right or wrong approach, especially with these specific characters who we have such limited canon on. It kinda leaves the door open to play with it however you want.
But again, I can only speak to myself really and I 95% of the time write AUs *shrugs* but I try to kinda switch it up in different stories and play with different backgrounds and variations, or make it complex. But yeah, no right or wrong approach, just find the ones you vibe with and focus on those :)
#I think this answers the question?#just find the ones you enjoy and focus on that cuz fandom should be fun and enjoyable!#asks

I’m quite happy to see no one tried to kill me over that post about comparing Japanese and American uses of the Griffith character type. Not that I thought it was offensive, but I’m always a little wary of generalizations and assumptions based on personal experience and anecdotes rather than more objective/generalized data.
But I can’t help it. I think about how cultural differences influence the creation and perception of media a lot....
it’s just an interesting topic. And I am, myself, a child of multiple cultures as my mother is a japanese immigrant, my father was southern-born African-American and I was raised in a working class PoC-majority neighborhood but went to school at upper middle class white-majority schools for most of my childhood.
So I have this child-of-an-immigrant thing going on that I’m sure some of you understand very well - this thing where you’re raised half in one culture and half in another. It’s a little more complicated/involved than that, but I’m not trying to bang on about myself so I guess I’m saying, I’m hyper aware of these rifts between the different cultures that I grew up a part of, not just the Japanese vs. American thing, but class divides and American racial divides...
Culture is one of those invisible things that colors everything you see and how you interpret it and even if you’re aware of that, it’s not always easy to pick apart your culturally-embedded viewpoints from objective reality. This includes a lot of moral issues and perspectives on social issues, but also like just basic... understandings of reality and self-definition.
So, going back to media, in fairness it’s not all culture - I do think fans in general can be prone to perceiving things they want to happen as happening even when they aren’t... especially when they’ve invested a lot of their online identity and their enjoyment of a series on that thing happening or being true. And of course people are infamously reluctant to change their beliefs when confronted with facts and logic that disprove their opinions. But I think these cultural schisms do tend to make it worse since the work is much more likely to be trying to say something that isn’t even on a given reader’s radar since that’s not something they’ve been media-trained to see or expect.
This is also involved in, for example, how so many manga or anime stories feel like they’re losing track of their pacing to western viewers/readers (google kishotenketsu sometime if you don’t know), as well as things like why the endings of stories sometimes feel anticlimactic or unsatisfying to a western viewer or reader. Both because Japanese stories have different ... themes/types of themes/lean on different tropes than say American stories, and because the same (or similar) types of characters or relationships play different roles in Japanese fiction than they do in American fiction, e.g. the Griffith thing.
One of the things I do a lot when I’m trying to understand where these schisms come from and how they play out is I’ll take a character and engage in the thought experiment implicit in the previous post - I ask myself, well, if I were watching an american fantasy movie or whatever and this character showed up or this situation arose, what would I expect to happen? And if the character did what they did in this manga, what would I expect the result of that to be? And that is very interesting and revealing - I recommend trying it sometime if you haven’t.
Anyway I personally try to interpret media more through the lens of the culture from which it arises - to the degree I can, like obviously there are cultures I know nothing about and can’t manage that with.
It’s also one of the reasons I think so much about authorial intent - there’s a lot of reasons really especially in ongoing work, but one of them is because I feel the need to try and take my preferences and, well, myself out of the equation as much as possible as a bit of a check against my own biases and assumptions.

Man, I don't want to start arguing on somebody else's post and start drama, but there was something that felt so weird and off about this take that I feel the need to ramble about it, so bear with me.
(Standard caveats, you are of course allowed to play DnD or write fantasy in whatever way makes you happy and you're not beholden to make fiction that one opinionated paladin-appreciator on the internet thinks is Correct, etc, but I'm gonna use the rhetorical approach of 'all of my subjective preferences are objective fact!' that tumblr is so fond of, so whatever)
Maybe this is an unpopular opinion, but like... yeah... a real-world equivalent of a paladin or a knight IS in fact a cop. Or a soldier, or a security guard, or what have you? That's kind of what they... inherently are? They are a person who uses violence on behalf of an abstract or concrete moral authority. If that isn't what they are, then they aren't really a paladin anymore! If what you want to write is a healer or a general do-gooder, that's fine but the violence is kind of inherent to a paladin or knight?
This feels like the kind of attitude you have when you say "ACAB!" because it's the trendy leftist thing to say and cops are The Bad Guys, but you don't actually have any... deeper understanding of WHY police brutality is bad? Or any conception of, like, authority and violence and power and etc being twined together? And how 'violence to protect/defend' is so hard to neatly separate out from regular violence? You just know that violence is bad when The Enemy does it, but good when Our Side does it? And cops are Bad, and my character is not Bad, ergo can't be a cop!
There is just such a disconnect here between "Fantasy world violence is good and fun and slicing people in half with zweihanders is cool to imagine yourself doing!" and "Real world violence is obviously usually horrible". And like, fair I guess, you're allowed to want to turn parts of your brain off when you're in a story. And if you try and consume or create only media that never uses cathartic righteous violence as fun, you're going to have a bad time in fantasy.
But like... What is it that makes a paladin hacking apart 'bad guys' with a sword in a fantasy world good and morally uncomplicated, but real-world violence not? What exists in the fantasy world that handwaves away the moral concerns?
Is it that the authority your paladin is acting on behalf of is Inherently Good and therefore so long as your paladin obeys their orders it's fine? If so, Hoo Boy, that is a can of worms.
Is it that a fantasy setting contains Evil Guys who are just inherently evil and you don't need to feel bad about killing them? Even worse!
What are you saying when you write these stories? What is the meaning? What are we saying about authority and violence?
If your paladin isn't allowed to engage with this stuff - if a character archetype usually defined in equal parts by their Lawfulness/duty and their Goodness isn't ever allowed to grapple with the contradictions inherent between those two things - man is there even any POINT to writing them as a paladin? You are stripping away the most interesting bits!
Why is it more 'progressive' to posit a world in there IS such a thing as absolute authority that is allowed to use all of the violence it wants free of judgement because they're The Good Guys? And as long as your character aligns themselves with that side then they're peachy? Is that really progressive just because the thought process stems from 'ACAB'?
#Chiro Rants#sorry for the opinion dump but this BOTHERS me#Mikhael probably WOULD be a cop or a soldier if translated to a modern setting#the moral quandaries would fuck him up#and that is the point#'I can't believe that you would interpret my character whose whole schtick#is exerting violence on behalf of a moral authority#as a cop! they would never!"#-_-

Well.. I'm autistic. As a child, I was apparently more sociable but it did seem like I was more of an extroverted introvert. Like I had friends for the most part of my life, but I was also content living in my own world by myself. Like my own fantasy world. Which actually seems like how, y'know, I have always been as an introvert. But that's what I was told.
I could be around people if I wanted but I preferred being alone at the same time. So I might not mind friends. But I won't always be social.
~
I don't read webtoon series but I kinda want to though, since so many other the Korean shows and movies I watch are based on webtoons a lot of the time. Do you know any sites where I can read webtoons? I'm also enjoying a lot of different artwork from webtoon series whenever the artwork is really detailed, or at least detailed work to me anyway.
But if there is ever a possibility I'm watching shows or movies I might not enjoy for whatever reason, then the chance is because a celebrity I liked was part of the cast. Not the first time that happened to me.
I did hear that the webtoon for Sweet Home is scarier than the show.. I can't compare because I've never read the webtoon. If I'm being very honest, I was hoping the show would have been scarier? More violent if possible. The acting is fine. But I do wish the monsters were not too CGI looking, the monsters look overly CGI to me. That's my opinion in that detail for the special effects. I think season two is December 15 if you were going to watch it, since the updated article came out only a few days ago. I checked for other updates before sending my reply.
Yes! I'll have to take a picture for you the next time I watch the show... I knew there was painting of an anime character on the van, but I just never expected that character to be Roberta though. Especially since Black Lagoon isn't really a popular series to begin with compared to a lot of other series. But it was definitely Roberta in her maid uniform.
Bloodhounds and Extracurricular are definitely recommendations for now. So watch those shows when you can. Without spoiling anything, part of me hopes they also continue both these series too. But I really haven't heard any official news yet about those shows at the moment though. I won't say anymore than that. Because of spoiler reasons.
And for the most part, whether they are real or fictional, I always have a type of guy I'm attracted to. Most of the time... There's usually types I have. Attractive, tall, muscular, bonus if they have any modifications but aren't necessary though. And could kill many men with their bare hands, so it would be attractive if they knew how to fight. Obviously if I'm ever attracted to fictional characters who are murders, then that's the fictional character and not real people. Just to clarify that. Since I know there are some people automatically assume certain things any time you're attracted to people or characters. You know how they are.
As a midget, I tend to have a size kink. I don't mind if the man is short in any way at all (like Levi as an example), but they still have to be way taller than me. They can be short but still tall, but I also like really tall.
The perfect men exist. I might not be their type, but they are my type in every way. Doesn't help that they live on another side on the planet though. How is that fair?! That's seriously complete torture for me.
Yes. Sometimes I don't mind when a series as filler episodes, but then other times I complain because there are too many filler episodes any time you watch longer series. And.. Yeah. I would rather have the slow pacing of an author if it means they can create the endings they want for their story, rather than having rushed endings like other series did.
I'm neutral about Yuno. I don't hate his character, but I wish there was a lot more to his character at the same time. The same reason as you. But I hate the Silva family though.. I loved the mother, sometimes I do have mixed feelings about Noelle since I did hate her - with how she's this snobby brat but she is also becoming more human though, and I completely hate her siblings for the abuse they put Noelle through so that is also another reason why I'm trying to be open minded about a character like Noelle. But I do love how the characters, especially any female characters, have magical abilities that keep evolving into even more abilities. Like how Charmy is literally A Wolf In Sheep's Clothing.
And don't worry about spoiling me... I do need to start reading manga again. But I'm also impatient with stories. If I haven't already seen any spoils on social media, then I will deliberately search for spoilers that I can find out of curiosity to know what happens next. So there is that. I don't know about you, but don't worry about spoiling me.
~
Maybe I'll try again. So I'll send a instant message to you soon. Since I was having glitches when I sent messages, what, a few days ago? But I was having problems with messages. So I'll try again if I can then.
💋
i would definitely recommend checking out webtoon series! the artwork from many of the ones i've seen are really beautiful, and it's great to see how much work the author puts into them. if you enjoyed sweet home's adaptation, i would recommend reading it as well, since i liked the webtoon much more. the live action went off on its own direction after a while so it's not too faithful to the series past the beginning, and like you said some of the CGI ruined its scariness. if you’re thinking of another webtoon to start with, pigpen is one of my favorite horror/mystery story. the plot twists were amazing and there were many exciting cliffhangers, so me and a few friends binged it in a few days. if you like those specific genres, those would be definitely be the ones that i would start with (especially pigpen) ^^ i have the webtoons app downloaded on my phone so i read it on there, but i think you can find a lot of options on sites like mangakakolot too
ahh yeah, i've definitely seen people accuse others of liking bad people in real life if their fictional favorite is for example a villain 😭 there are definitely evil characters that i am attracted to in fiction, but that doesn't mean i'll be attracted to the same person in real life. i always find it a little exhausting when some fans give others a hard time for liking villainous characters. i can relate to you with being a fan of size differences, i like my women tall and muscular 🤣 lol but it's hard for me to go out and meet these kind of people since i am so busy with working and im too tired to go out when i do have days off. so fictional characters will have to do T_T i know levi way on the shorter side of the spectrum, but is there a height that you prefer in your faves?
i completely feel you on the silva family... honestly, i've disliked them since their first appearance because of their snobby and rude attitude. i did like noelle since the beginning though and I gradually grew to like her more, since she is kind at heart and works so hard to prove herself. her “i’m a royal” line can get old sometimes, but not something that bothers me too much. nozel though… he’s a character that i can't stand even if he had his "redemption” moment, because putting so much trauma on his little sister and then acting like everything could be forgotten just because he blushed and apologized??? he might have had his reason for acting the way he did but there definitely had to be a better way for him to go about it. he's also mature enough by now to know what was right and wrong to do, like the man is literally in his late 20s?? to think noelle would probably have continued to be isolated from her family if she didn’t grow stronger on her own 💀 he's a bland character to add to it too, so even more reason for me to dislike him also his hairstyle is ridiculous
#answered#💋 anon#i wont be on tumblr much for a while but i will keep an eye out for any new messages if you do send me one! ^^

Obviously your blog is mostly centered around the shit storm that is ACOTAR. I'm curious, how do you feel about TOG? If you've read it that is. I've always preferred TOG to ACOTAR, mostly besides Dorian owns my heart, it also seemed more sculpted I guess (that's not the exact word I was looking for, but it works), and less focused on "romance" or whatever the fuck this wasn't meant to be a pun but the fact that it was my first thought for word choice is funny. Feysand and Nessian are, even tho romance is something that happens throughout the series and becomes more of a focus in later books, and I just preferred Celaena overall to Feyre. I know the series has its issues and isn't perfect by any means at all, my very strong prescription rose-colored glasses aren't that tinted. 😂 I read the series for the first time when I was a teenager, technically I read ACOTAR at the same age but we'll overlook that for now, the characters and the story have a special place in my heart and I'm not sure if it's actually good-aside from it's clear problems-or just my aforementioned rose colored glasses.
Totally okay if you don't answer questions about SJM's other series, if you do answer pls be gentle despite telling myself I'm not I'm Soft 😂. I trust your opinion, which is why I'm asking despite being Soft. Hope you have a better day tomorrow and Hercules is an incredible choice after a difficult day. 💜
Buckle up, this will be long!!!!
Weirdly, I was living in Copenhagen and I was in a group for young people new to the city and somebody wrote about making a book club. 4 of us turned up - one from USA, one from Netherlands, one from Spain, and me - so we were just chatting about books in a coffee shop and somebody recommended throne of glass. I'd tried to read books like divergent and the mortal instruments and did not like the "chosen girl who is the best at everything" cliche so I was like HARD PASS. (At that point Empire of Storms and ACOMAF had come out that year).
I didn't think about that book again but I did keep going to the library and I read Maze Runner which I loved and still pair with my time in Denmark lmao.
Anyway. I also did reddit gift exchanges and one year (maybe 2017/2018), somebody sent me Tower of Dawn and ACOTAR. I didn't touch either for ages. They just sat on my shelf because neither appealed.
Anyway, in a bid to read the books piling up on my shelves, I started acotar and my thoughts were "this girl is so dumb" "i cannot believe she can be this stupid" "my goodness she is annoying". I then borrowed the others from a library and was a fan of the side characters rather than feyre THEN I moved onto ToG.
I really enjoyed the first book. Loved a fun competition between assassins. I wanted her and Nox to get together rather than Chaol or Dorian. 2nd one felt off? Then the rest felt like a different series. I'll be honest, I did enjoy them but it didn't hook me the same way ACOTAR did. Cannot pinpoint why.
Feyre is annoying. Caelena is annoying
Rhys is annoying and abusive. Rowan is annoying and abusive.
Side characters make both series.
One thing that I really didn't like about Tog was how Kaltain was made to be that mean, man-hungry girl in the first... she didn't need "redemption", she was literally just a courtier set in a time where women needed to marry up. Again it was SJM's nasty side coming through like she did to Nesta/Elain in book one.
I loved Lorcan and Elide. They were probably my favourite chapters to read. Plus Manon's. I really enjoyed tower of dawn too - Yrene and Chaol were also one of my favourite couples.
This is so disjointed, sorry.
Overall yes i liked tog but I've only read it once. Don't love it enough to write fan fiction, but also there's not enough to make me angry like acotar.

So, I thought I would see if I can chat with some of y'all and possibly make myself feel a bit less weird.
I have been a whump fan since the late 90's, and it has only been in the last few years that I have discovered online communities surrounding whump, which gave me language to describe something that I didn't know how to articulate before. I learned what whump was (though I hadn't heard "whumperflies" until I got here) through fanfiction a long time ago, but I was always kinda embarrassed that I liked this so much, so I never talked about it, just quietly enjoyed it. So, since I never really have before, I thought I would see if anyone can relate to this stuff.
I have noticed that there are very specific conditions that must be met for whumperflies to show themselves in my case.
Note: As seems to be wonderfully common in this community, I am ace and neurodivergent; we do tend to gather in creative spaces. ❤️❤️❤️ I will be speaking about myself and my brain as two separate entities because... honestly, we are. I have no control over what it does, and I am frequently in a John Mulaney state of, "I also don't want me to be doing what I am doing."
1. The most annoying aspect for me is that characters that give me whumperflies are generally limited to one per series. There is one character that my brain likes to see, and it picks them without my permission. Obviously, these are not the only characters I am interested in, and a lot of the time, not even my favorite character in the series/ movie. I don't know if this is common.
2. The next one is pretty weird, in my opinion. I think some of my preferences when it comes to whump are to do with my neurodivergence. I am autistic and have ADHD, so all of my interests tend to be highly specified. One of the things that I find that gives me whumperflies is the limpness of certain aspects of a character. The weight of an arm, hand, or wrist... or how a character is draped across something or someone. Obviously unconsciousness is a large aspect of the whumps, but it can also be a character who has lost the strength or energy to move. Hands being limp in a restraint, a head tilted far to the side or to the back, or legs dangling when being picked up.
3. Context matters a lot to whether or not I get whumperflies from something. My favorite trope is a character's friends, family, or even acquaintances, seeing the whump happen. I think it is an innate desire for characters to see someone in a different light or situation than normal. A normally strong character in a situation they can't escape, or a weak character showing a strength that maybe even they didn't realize they had. The reason I think the dichotomy is the reason I enjoy this is because, while I don't get wumperflies from it, a character absolutely wrecking shop in a situation that others had no idea they could handle is also one of my favorite things.
4. There is a pretty tight limit on the intensity of the whump I enjoy. I don't like when things stray toward torture- porn (no judgment for people whose thing that is, though. Everyone has their own tastes, and these are all fictional characters). In very mild defiance of the previous point, I especially don't appreciate humiliation the way I know a lot of people do. Perhaps the character themselves might find something humiliating, but I can't handle a lot of groveling/ begging or whatever. I think there is a certain weird neatness that my autistic brain requires; not that I need a character to be all clean or whatever after/ during the whump. I dunno why my brain puts that particular limit on (maybe it's an esthetic thing?)
Doing the ND thing and analyzing the absolute shit out of my own brain, I feel like it could also be that I experience enough personally perceived humiliation in my daily life that I don't appreciate it much. (I'm sure a lot of people can relate to the forever struggle and anxiety of unregulated masking. XD I am trying to mask less, but I am 34 and just got my diagnosis last December, I don't have a lot of faith that it will get much better than it is, lol).
4. I don't really get whumperflies from anything other than videos. I think that has to do with context, where my brain needs to see the scene play out before it deigns to distribute the elusive whumperflies. (Can you tell my brain and I don't super get along? It's so stingy) Don't get me wrong, whump in gifs and writings are still my favorite things; obviously... I write whump. But no actual whumperflies from any of that.
5. I definitely appreciate animated whump more than live action whump (though, like with the non- video mediums, it is often still my favorite part of a live action show or movie). I think it is just because I don't appreciate real- life pain for anyone, and for me personally, live action stuff is just a little bit closer to that than animation.
6. As pointed out above. I am ADHD and autistic so sensory things are both my best friend and worst enemy; particularly sound. So a VA who can really get into the visceral and intense noises and screaming of whump are definitely preferred. Granted, belting is my favorite kind of singing, so I think I also just love hearing voices pushed to their limits.
7. Restraint is a big one for me, as it seems to be for a lot of people. Chains, ropes, gags, whatever. Whump is not a kink for me personally, but I still really appreciate it.
8. Mind control is another one, though I think it might be a bit more... whump adjacent. I guess it probably qualifies as emotional whump, though. I have written a few fics involving that. No whumperflies for the most part, but a type of whump I really like.
9. I like whump in moderation. Like said, the brain generally picks a single character from each show/ story/ movie, and that's the one I latch onto. But there needs to be a limit to how many situations they wind up in. I think it's because I want that contrast; a capable or strong character who is placed in a situation where that is taken away. But too much, and I lose interest. I don't really have a hard line for what is and isn't too much for one piece of media, but there is a point where my brain is like, "Oh, this again? Nah." Most media doesn't have enough whump for my tastes, but there are a few that have too much. Especially if the one being whumped excessively isn't the specific one my stubborn brain has picked out. I don't particularly like excess even to the one picked by my brain, but you get what I am saying.
Reading back through these and being annoyingly analytical as I am, it seems that there is much to do with both the subversion of control and a desire for stark contrast within and between characters when it comes to what I like within the subgenre of whump.
It's been surreal writing all of this. I never told ANYONE about this enjoyment of mine until just two years ago when I talked to my husband about it. And I only told him because I had discovered this community and been like, "People talk openly about this? I'll give that a try!"
I hope this hasn't made me sound pretentious or judgemental. I genuinely love the diversity in the type of whump that I see and that other people enjoy. It makes me feel that my weirdness is welcomed and I am in good company.
Considering all the fine print I have shared, I feel like this would make it seem like I don't actually like whump, but it genuinely is my absolute favorite thing. Or, maybe limitations like these are super common.
I have been a lover of whump since the early 2000's, and until I found this community, I really didn't have the language to articulate what it is I enjoyed so much. I've seen a lot of people asking about feelings of embarrassment when it comes to liking whump, and to be perfectly honest, that is how I have felt most of my life. But I am trying to be more accepting of myself and learn that there is nothing wrong with enjoying this kind of thing. Obviously, a lot of people do because it is a pretty essential part of most action media, lol.
I would love to hear about you guys' preferences, and if any of this resonated with you. I would love to start doing some gifs and stuff from older anime cause I am willing to bet that my love of whump comes from one of the first animes I ever watched. I have some older stuff on my shelf (I would call them classics, but I'm not sure if anyone else would lol), as well as a couple of things that I have only ever heard people here talk about once.

Munday Asks: Salt Edition [Accepting]
2. What are your unpopular opinion(s) of the fandom you’re rping in?
// SW fans learn the difference between forcing something onto you, and someone just stating an opinion. You're not a bigger fan for preferring one version of the canon over another, and same thing goes to the lesser of a fan argument. And don't even get me started on the whole crusade about "morality in fiction". Nobody is more morally righteous for watching the latest shows, or not.
The holy grail that we call source material is nothing more than a, collection of answers to the questions you may have. Disney's SW and Legends' come with their own different sets of answers. Trying to intimidate someone from enjoying one thing, is such a low move. And to me it tells me that many people, likely feel SO insecure about their beliefs/HCs/takes. That they feel like they have to act this way, in an attempt to "protect" themselves.
As an adult that's approaching her 30s, I've been far more drawn towards the more mature version of SW. I haven't been getting the most satisfactory answers from the new canon, and as such, I'll keep turning to Legends. At the same time, I don't treat the old Legends stuff as the holy bible, it isn't. I don't like everything about it, in the same way I also enjoy some changes brought by the new canon.
3. What rp trends are you so over and can’t wait for it to die?
// Can we just go back to calling ourselves RP blogs? The whole shtick of 'This blog is a study of: X, Y, Z subjects that the RPer thinks it makes them look big brained for knowing uwu' doesn't look good, and imo it looks 1000x worse when the blog has little to no IC/character building done, and it is nothing but shitposts or generic aesthetics/musings.
It just makes the people behind those blogs come off as unnecessarily pompous. Especially when it is blatantly obvious, they don't know what they are talking about, because they are applying concepts/ideas wrongly in their fundamentals.
And I'm going to say it: anyone trying to pass that off as 'a joke' or how 'it wasn't meant to be taken seriously uwu' are just coping, because they likely realised how silly it all looks and sounds, but they convinced themselves this is better.
17. What are your opinions when someone makes negative posts constantly on their rp blog?
// I've had to deal with people like that many times in the past, and I've learned that it is best to just avoid those people. They are draining in every sense of the word, and my experience/time in communities has largerly improved, since I started filtering those people out.
To me, negativity can come in various forms.
There are obviously the people who are heavily tied to discourse, who are simply unable to drop a subject and move on, and they made hating a character/subject/part of a franchise's source material part of their personality. There are also people who overshare, every little bad thing that happened to them, and dump onto their mutuals/followers super personal shit that was never meant to be publicized. And they do that not out of malice in most cases, but because they are seeking out coddling and comfort in social media engagement (If anyone hits this point, they NEED to seek professional help.). And there are also people who are just unable to keep shit to themselves, or lack a circle of friends, to comment on every little thing others are doing. You know, the people who go 'oh ew. Imagine shipping/liking X Y stuff' or 'Oh what did I do? Why did I lose a follower? >:('. Now this is just vagueposting, which is targeting someone.
And before anyone tries to point fingers at me because, I support people doing whatever they want in their blogs. I also equally support people improving their online experience, and leave if they feel like they've had enough of something.
