Silly/Dumb Things that Make Me Irrationally Angry
disclaimer: the key words here are âsillyâ & âdumbâ
The âNarnia Kids are the Founders of Hogwartsâ theory
The âit was all a dreamâ theory
Thinking protagonist = hero
When fandom villainizes a character simply because theyâre âin the way of a shipâ
Character in relationship starts pursuing a different character (typically the MC) but doesnât break up with the character theyâre currently dating?????
Speed running enemies to lovers trope (thatâs a trope for slow burns wtf are you doing put it down!)
Calling Disneyâs Beauty & The Beast a story about Stockholm SyndromeÂ
Calling any diverse media âwokeâ to undermine it
Misunderstanding how tags work on ao3 (particularly the / and & for pairings)
Misunderstanding the purpose of tags on ao3
Calling Lucy Heartfilia weakÂ
Forgetting that Dick Grayson was a mathlete
Basing all of Jason Toddâs personality on his anger and ruthlessnessÂ
Misunderstanding Jason Toddâs anger
The DCEU butchering my boy Batsy
The âI was accidentally eavesdropping and left believing they were talking shit about me but turns out I missed the most important bitsâ trope
Being a military historian who loves the Civil War (I donât trust you)
Using the word âfemalesâ to sound smarter (you just sound dumb also âwomenâ is right there)
Spring Break being colder than usual (IT WAS THE MIDDLE OF MARCH IN TEXAS WHY WAS I SHIVERING)
Calling me by a nickname that I already refused to (you gotta earn that shit)
Ep 2.08 is never really touched on again after itâs âresolvedâ
vldâs lost potential (while i have made my peace, i will still bare my scars)
text blocks in fics
dialogue with no quotation marksÂ
âOh lookie, we got this wonderful fantastical world (that takes some inspiration from history) with itâs own politics and world building BUT we keep the sexism and racial prejudice bc the inspiration we pulled was medieval times :)â <- i will fight you for sport
mistaking rivals to lovers for enemies to lovers (similar flavor just R to L is slightly tamer. can they blend? yes, but they are not the same thing)
the blatant disregard for internet safety on tiktok (why tf would you announce your age, show your face, and air out your dirty laundry to everyone??? where is your caution? this is not vine, lil beans, yâall are stressing me out. did you miss the pbs episode about the dino agents and stranger danger??? or the fever dream computer game our 1st grade class had to play at school???)
if you have the sniffles, for the love of all things holy, please stand up and get a tissue. no one cares if you get up. i honestly prefer hearing you blow out your nose than hearing you suck up snot every 5 minutes.
taking the backstories told by Macaque and Azure about the Monkey King in lmk at face value (biased narratives are a thing! unreliable narrators are a thing! i will give the biggest sigh if Sun Wukong is placed as the sole character at fault in another fic i read with this)
âredemptionâ arcs
âsympatheticâ villains
missing the fucking point about why Batman chooses mercy and rehabilitation over baseless violence (this also coincides with my issue with how some people view Jason as the Punisher 2.0 bc it suffers through the same fucking glorification of justifying apathy of human life and rejection of 2nd chances)
missing the fucking point about what makes Superman super (hereâs a hint: itâs not his fucking power)
the fact that i missed most of Vineâs peak bc i wasnât allowed a phone until middle school
i lost my post canon script of Cinderella in the princeâs POV that i wrote in 6th grade (rip, i should have created a personal gmail so much sooner, i could have saved you T^T)
understanding a motive does not equal justifying or excusing said motive. you just now understand why a person did what they did. maybe you find justification in it, maybe not, but itâs not absolute!
#i'm bored. it's late. i've been building this list mentally for some time#take this as the dumb hills i would die on#i cannot (in good conscience) voice why these are my hills i die on bc we' be here for years#anyway#i thought it'd be fun to share the silly hills i am heavily opinionated on#shitpost#long post#list#dumb hills to die on#again: key word here is 'silly' and 'dumb'#also some of these hills are old-old#as in 'i have been heavily opinionated about these subjects since i was 9'#some of these are new or just resurface things i thought i made peace with#but yeah#post was made to make fun of my ill-tempered opinionated self#obviously if you disagree with me about anything that's fine.#it's a me problem for a reason

In response to the Mile High Job post, I hate that Parker implies that poor flight attendant slept her way to a promotion/better shift. Her day is super weird but her cat is fine and her life is saved. That rumor, however, might stick and that didn't really feel like Leverage to me.
Agreed!
The thing with Leverage is that it's a show from the late 2000s; it feels contemporary, but actually it is a bit dated. And, like all shows, it had some problematic elements, which get a bit more Obviously Problematic as time goes by (I am just waiting for someone to write a lengthy call-out post in 5 years' time and for the Discourse to start.) For example, Tumblr loves to declare that Leverage has a "canon" throuple, but if anyone read that and then watched the show they would be profoundly disappointed - while it's a fantastic ship with a great many shippy instances, Elliot has a lot of onscreen No Homo moments, and frequently is shown sleeping with random women (I personally read him as aromantic). Similarly, there are two big relationships in that show: Nate/Sophie, and Parker/Hardison. And we all wax lyrical about the brilliance of Parker/Hardison and how healthy it is, and for good reason; but we gloss over how unbearably "I hate my wife/father I cannot click the book" Boomer humour Nate/Sophie is.
(He literally calls her a shrew in one episode. She throws a tantrum and sulks if he doesn't remember the exact details of how/where they met. She's stereotypically 'romantic' and he's stereotypically 'cynical' and she has to Save Him From Himself, and he self-deprecatingly says he should just know when to stop arguing because she's always right. Like... it is a grubby and uncomfortable dynamic; but, it's also aimed at a different segment of the audience that is older than me, and that's okay, actually. It just means I don't much care for the ship myself.)
Anyway, this is one other such instance. Clearly someone in the writers' room thought that was a funny joke, and not enough people disagreed, and so in it went. What's nice is that Sandi McCree, who plays the other flight attendant that stays on the plane, actually kind of saves that joke for me with her performance. When Parker first boards and declares that her co-worker is not coming in, McCree looks disgruntled at the sudden change to her staff list when she wasn't informed; she's annoyed at management. Then Parker makes the sleeping-with-pilots comment, and McCree looks disgusted and furious -
An expression she then pulls at Parker every time she sees her for the rest of the episode, even when Parker is technically not doing anything particularly weird. It's not necessarily intentional on McCree's part (Parker IS very weird in this episode, so it very much can be a response to that), but to me it means you can read it as "This woman is absolutely furious at the lateral sexism of this white girl because We Love And Support Each Other On This Plane." So, for me, between that and the aforementioned revelations of the day (the plane was brought down by the domestic terrorists of a Fortune 500 company, but saved by... a few unexplained Official People who snuck aboard??? And the other flight attendant was made to miss the plane after all under mysterious circumstances and was not promoted??? What???), I don't think Sandi McCree's character wouldn't put those pieces together.

Almost, Always
â„ â„ Â Â Â Â Â Joseph Quinn x Fem!ReaderÂ
Summary:Â Happy endings aren't for everyone, so it seems, but that doesn't mean that you can't stop trying for one. Question is, are you actually star-crossed lovers that can figure something out, or just absolutely blind to reality and really fucking stupid?
CW / disclaimer: rpf, fem!reader, language, adult themes, smut, cheating
Authorâs note: it's monday! and fake joe's here for you! he's... not exactly the best, for which i apologise, but, he's all for you, so please, enjoy him fictionally and respect him privately (too much to ask? i hope not?) ok great talk everyone, love you <33 xo
Wordcount: 6.3K
part one - part two - part three - part four - part five
Four days of silence.
Four days of not looking each other in the eye. Of no physical touch. Of not saying a single fucking word.
You moved around each other in a shared space until you had the thought that you were probably better off avoiding each other completely for a little while.
Joe was convinced he had every right to wait for an apology before heâd speak to you again. You, however, obviously heavily disagreed.
You had just been honest.
Joe had asked for you to be honest and so, you had been, but apparently, youâd done it wrong.
It started with an evening of not speaking after an outburst. A silent night routine where you completely avoided one another. Acted like the other person wasnât even there. Youâd thought then that youâd speak in the morning. That youâd talk things out after getting some sleep, because maybe that was the problem.
You slept with your backs facing each other and dreamed of better moods in the morning.
But then the next morning, Joe had gotten up and only made one coffee.
One singular cup of coffee.
He drank it at the kitchen table, looked at you all bitterly like a disappointed parent would look at their child who was ruining their potential, and then left the empty cup there for you to grow even more annoyed at. More than you already were.
That one evening of silence had slowly turned into four days.
You bit your tongue, though. Kept quiet, because Joe did too. Stored the annoyance away. Swept it under the rug, and even though this metaphoric rug was starting to look really lumpy, you pretended you could walk over it fine still.
You then also ignored that this is precisely what the fight had been about. About you shutting up about all the little things that annoyed you. All the small things that didnât feel worth the effort to say anything about in the moment, because you didnât want to be a nag.
Things built with you.
Being bothersome was your worst nightmare, so you wouldnât say anything for ages until then suddenly, on a random afternoon, a teeny tiny drop made the bucket overflow and youâd fall apart at something so stupidly insignificant which would take everyone by surprise.
Would take Joe by surprise.
And it made sense that Joeâs first reaction to your fire would be to light his own. Youâd snap and shout, so Joeâd snap and shout right back.
âBabe, you never fucking communicate! Itâs alwaysâ Iâm always guessing with you! Just tell me when something upsets you!â
âI am!â
âYea now you are! But youâre telling me about shit I said three months ago! What do you want me to change about something I did three months ago?!â
âI donât want you to change anythingâ my God! You asked me whatâs wrong, so Iâm telling you whatâs wrong!â
It was always the same fight. And usually, youâd end up saying something so stupid to your own ears it would break the tension and make you laugh. Itâd be easy to apologise in those moments, because you knew this was on you, and the warmth coming off of Joe as heâd turn soft at your laughter would always sort of fix things.
âStop being so silly,â heâd say as heâd hug you. As heâd kiss you on the cheek until your embarrassed grimace, aimed fully at yourself, disappeared.
âGot some moaning left in there?â heâd ask, tapping the side of your head with a finger, making you giggle despite yourself. âWant to go shout into the air from the balcony? Since youâre here now, this is the time to get all of it out.â
That was how it usually went.
And he was right; you could definitely communicate better. Express feelings in the moment rather than hold on to all the negative shit for ages.
Easier said than done, but at least you were aware that you had to stop saving things for another day. Â
This time the fight had been different though. There was no eventual humour slipping through any cracks. No secret smiles hidden from each other until you stopped being able to conceal them. No apologies. Zero kind words. Just⊠anger. And silence.
Joe was waiting for you to break first. For your wrath to turn into something a little softer that he could mould into something more to his liking.
And you were waiting because Joe was waiting. Simple as that.
It didnât feel fair that every time youâd share negative feelings, Joe would end up calling you silly.
It didnât feel fair that Joe never apologised for anything.
It didnât feel fair that, just because you were quiet for a moment as you collected your thoughts, Joe spat, âSilent treatment? All right.â at you.
Four days.
Four days of Joe making a morning coffee just for himself, actively choosing to ignore, and therefore, hurt you.
Four days of his lone empty coffee cup left on the table, which you then didnât clean, because why the fuck would you, but the sight of it was eating you alive.
You spent four days witnessing petty, childish behaviour from the man who you started believing you needed some space from. A little breathing room. Just until heâd miss you enough to reach out and say sorry, you know?
You wondered if he was thinking the same.
If the silence was also letting his mind wander into those same dark corners yours was exploring.
But then, Joe broke it.
A glass of wine on that fourth night broke it.
It wasnât exactly an apology, but⊠it felt like one. You decided it was an apology.
You were sitting on the sofa, tapping away on your phone, talking to Emily about your stupid boyfriend, and she was a good friend, made fun of him effortlessly which really did a good job of making you feel better.
Then, Joe placed a glass of wine down on the coffee table in front of you.
It didnât fully register at first.
You saw the glass, but assumed it was Joeâs wine that he poured for just himself, and if you were going to want some, youâd have to go and fetch you own.
Mid-typing out a message to Emily about it, you felt Joe sit down next to you, and when you chanced a quick glance, you saw that he was holding a glass of wine himself as he got comfortable and turned on the TV.
Slowly, your phone lowered into your lap, and you stared at that glass of red wine on the table for a moment.
Without warning, your eyes welled up.
He poured that for you.
In the effort to not let Joe notice how this gesture hit you right in the gut, you held your breath until you were shaking, and then a heaving sob burst out of you.
Shit.
You shattered.
Split right down the middle, and burst into pieces with such vigour, you surprised yourself, but surprised Joe more.
He had expected you to pick up the glass and empty it in the sink, or whatever.
Four days was much longer than he thought youâd let this go on for.
His girlfriend was stubborn â he knew that. But four days? Four days was a really fucking long time. And, apparently, four days was long enough for a simple glass of red supermarket wine to make you cry.
The astonishment rendered Joe useless for a moment.
He just looked at you for a moment as you sat with your phone in your lap, head dropped down, and your face covered by both your hands.
This was really fucking embarrassing.
Your legs felt the want to escape the situation before your mind got the chance to catch up. You were up on your feet and wanted to bolt it to the bedroom when you heard Joe put his glass of wine down.
You hadnât even taken two steps before you got taken hold of by an arm. Pulled into a chest. Held firmly into place.
Going from four days of moving around each other like you didnât exist to one another, to the very sudden tightest hug youâd received in ages was a lot.
And then Joe placed a hand on the back of your neck and squeezed you gently, making you fucking bawl.
No one apologised.
No one said a word, actually.
But you took whatever that glass of wine was as enough of an olive branch to let yourself be hugged.
Be shushed quietly.
Be gently kissed and softly touched. Â
It shouldnât have counted as an apology, but youâd taken it as one, and Joe had conveniently let you.
Saturday night.
Youâre out.
Alone.
You know Emily would have come if you had asked her to, but you hadnât, because she wouldâve likely asked a bunch of questions you didnât want to answer.
âWhere are we going?â âThatâs not where we usually go...â âWhy are we going there?â
Couldnât tell her. Sheâd try her best to talk sense into you. Would try to convince you that this behaviour wasnât serving anyone in the long term.
And sheâd be right.
But you currently donât really care about the long term.
Short term is where itâs at.
Where all the fun and the excitement lives.
So youâre out. Having drinks at a bar by yourself, and you do your very best fending off any trickle of doubt at your life choices until you see him walk in.
Jackpot.
You fucking knew it.
You pretend you havenât seen him at all, of course. Continue your chat with the girl behind the bar, until suddenlyâ
âYou know youâve got the worst timing?â
Joe sneaks up on you.
His voice is low in your ear, and you do your very best to sound as surprised as you possibly can when you gasp a small breath, all innocent. You turn your head to see him over your shoulder, both his hands on your sides as he looks down at you.
âFancy seeing you here.â You say it like you truly didnât expect to run into him.
Oscar worthy.
Well. It would have been, had you not both been very aware that youâre exactly where you are for this exact reason. Wearing what you are wearing, drinking what you are drinking. Itâs more than a lucky guess that heâd be here tonight.
Joeâs predictable like that.
Men in general are easy like that.
âIâm here with a whole group.â Joeâs making excuses he already knows arenât going to stop either one of you. Â
âDo I know them?â
âNo.â Joe answers as he scans your face from the side. God, you look all⊠glossy.
âGood.â Wouldâve been a bit awkward otherwise.
âYou better hang around for a bit.â Joe gives you a face, sort of stern, and itâs so comfortable to frown at him. To act all offended. Like itâs not exactly what you want to hear.
âExcuse you, Iâmââ you start all aghast, and want to add, Iâm seeing someone, which is a lie, but you get cut off by a strong squeeze into your waist from both his hands.
âIâm not joking. Give me⊠maybe, like, an hour and Iâll come get you.â
You scrunch your nose at him and he gives a small nod, his grin spreading wide, before he turns around and finds the people he came in with.
Youâre alone. Single, and having drinks in a bar by yourself, which has every opportunity to feel a little sad, but instead you feel giddy. You predicted youâd run into him, and then you did.
Perfect.
Youâre a genius.
After last time, you kind of want Joe to think that you are seeing someone. Just to make you feel like youâve got the upper hand. Not that it matters. Youâve both made the same wrong choice in similar situations before. But, still. You just donât want him to win.
Joe joins his friends, and he throws a quick glance back to see you smile into your drink as you take a sip.
Yea. Glossy is the right word, he thinks. He could stare at you all evening.
Fuck.
A whack to his shoulder by one of his friends pulls him into a conversation and momentarily, he shifts into the evening he had planned to have.
He forgets about you for a minute, but never entirely.
Itâs like thereâs a constant little buzz in the back of his head, and he keeps wanting to look over. See what youâre doing. Who youâre talking to. Whoâs talking to you.
Joeâs in trouble.
You do things to him that he canât entirely comprehend, and that no one before or after you has ever really managed. He doesnât know what to make of that most of the time, except that the feelings heâs got for you are sort of⊠big. And scary.
Youâre still devastatingly gorgeous to him, he can objectively look at you and think, yea sheâs fucking hot, but you also manage to make him laugh. Manage to him feel heard and cared for. Manage to make him forget about all current worries life has on offer for him.
And Joe is generally, just, doomed.
Whatever he had with you had worked for a while and then suddenly it hadnât anymore. Youâd suddenly wanted out, but now⊠it feels a little like you both want to start over. Like you both want to forget about that chapter of bullshit. Pretend it never happened.
And whatâs the problem with that?
Is whatever you are doing now a problem? If it works?
If it doesnât hurt people, Joe thinks thereâs no issue.
But he knows it actually does hurt people. Itâs another truth he ignores. Tries to, at least.
Thereâs no denying the gravitation pulling the two of you closer and closer together until eventually you end up a tangled mess. Like a pair of forgotten earphones left in a coat pocket, too annoying to untie, so instead someone will pull at both ends until the earpieces reach both ears, leaving the wire tangled up even tighter as it sits under their chin.
Even though Joe appreciates the poetic beauty he can find in all of that, he knows heâs got to fucking stop hurting people all the time.
He canât help his feelings.
But he can help how he treats others.
If he is going to choose to let the general ache of a bad week be soothed by the balm of your presence, he can at least have the decency to not let others presume theyâre dating him. Because generally, thatâs always been his problem. Joeâs vague and avoidant and all about surface level fun â he never defines anything if he can help it, and he lets others think what they please.
Itâs easier that way.
For him, at least.
Itâs both a shame and a godsend that this is a part of him that you know through and through. That you see. He doesnât have to try to hide it, because he knows that itâs of no use with you.
And apparently, itâs fine, because here you fucking are, arenât you?
He remembers when he thought you were just the same, and remembers how he felt so lucky at first.
A perfect match.
Heâd learnt over time, youâre actually very much not the same. But! You had at least some of the same tendencies, and you showing up in this particular bar tonight was enough proof of it.
Joeâs in his group of friends, and theyâre all chatting and laughing, and this was meant to be a fun night out, but he might as well just leave right now. His mind is with the girl at the other end of the bar, sat on her own, smiling and chatting to whoever had the courage to strike up a conversation.
Yea.
Heâs got more problems.
Forget not wanting to define anything with anyone.
Joe also has to stop banking his entire future on the idea that you want him too.
Thereâs⊠thereâs a lot of things to ignore.
It should foreshadow that the path heâs going down isnât good. Isnât the right one. But... itâs so fun and exciting, he kind of has to know where it leads.
He sighs loudly, a frustrated grumble originating from sheer defeat, and he gives the glass heâs holding a glance. Heâll finish this, and then heâll fetch you and leave.
About fifteen minutes later, heâs got you under his arm and is leading you outside. Asks, âYours or mine?â because thereâs no need to act coy with you.
You answer, âYours.â a little too quickly for Joe not to raise an eyebrow at.
Youâre walking together, and youâre still fixing your scarf, but your steps are too determined. Too rushed for your quick answer not to hide at least some secrets.
âWhat, you got anything to hide from me?â
âNoââ
âLetâs go over to yours. Itâs closer.â he challenges without the intent to actually do so, footsteps still carrying him in the direction of his own flat.
âNo, Iââ
âOr has Jasper left all of his things strewn about?â Joe couldnât finish the question before having to twist his mouth in a bid to hide his smile.
You stop walking for just a second, and give him a dead pan stare that transitions into an eye-roll before you flatly say, âAll right, good night.â and pretend to turn around to leave.
It makes Joe throw his head back in a laugh, both his arms grabbing at you and pulling you close.
âMine, okay. Mine.â
And you fall back into step, smiling into your scarf at how you just made Joeâs laugh echo down the street.
Feels good to make Joe laugh.
Itâs quiet for a bit, just a short few seconds. Just footsteps on the ground amongst the noises of the city. Somehow, it feels like it drags on, like every second lasts a whole minute, and you canât help filling it with awkward chat. âNo,â you start. âJasperâs put all of his things where theyâre supposed to go.â And you give Joe a pointed look after.
He bites immediately.
âWhaâ I always put my things where theyâre supposed to go!â
He doesnât.
You know he doesnât.
He knows you know he doesnât.
Itâs impossible to forget all of the little things that made the rug look all lumpy. Youâd always keep things under there for ages, which gave you a lot of time to quietly lift up corners to examine all the mess.
So you snort, and he stutters through beginnings of words he never finishes to find excuses that donât exist until youâre both laughing.
Then he says, âHere. Iâll put this thing where itâs meant to go.â And you think itâs just about the cheesiest innuendo ever, but then he takes your wrist in his hand and lets his fingers intertwine with yours.
You look up at him with a pursed smile, but Joeâs already looking right ahead, making sure you donât bump into anything.
Youâre lucky itâs cold enough to blame the flush of your cheeks on the cold wind.
You hold hands all the way to Joeâs flat.
Itâs nice.
You also talk about Jasper all the way to Joeâs flat.
Thatâs less nice.
Joe asks what else Jasper does that he allegedly doesnât. If he lets you keep your heating on. If he lets you sleep closest to the door. Every question comes out with disdain, like this loser doesnât know what heâs fucking doing.
And you answer every question with lies. Paint a very pretty picture.
Jasper doesnât even fucking exist, but you like that Joe thinks youâre taken. That youâre off the market, and that he shouldnât be taking you home, but still chooses to. You think maybe he wouldnât have held your hand if he thought you werenât already spoken for.
However, it doesnât feel so nice to remember all the things that ruined your relationship with Joe. He just keeps listing a bunch of shit youâd once yelled at him for, and you donât think he fully understands how itâs bringing the mood down.
Presumably, youâre meant to think itâs funny, so you smile, but all of it sits wrong in your gut. It leaves you with a bitter taste in your mouth that uncomfortably sticks to your tongue and sours your mood a little.
The short-term fun with Joe is meant to be just that. Fun. You donât want to be reminded of all the reasons why you shouldnât be going home with him right now. If you did, youâd have taken Emily with you tonight.
You refrain from saying anything, though.
Youâre still you, after all.
You just smile and tell Joe that Jasper actually does do all the things that Joe never did, and hope it sparks enough jealousy in him to maybe do something about it.
âHmm,â Joe says when you turn the corner and his building comes into view. âJasper sounds... he sounds kind of perfect, doesnât he?â
He does.
Youâve created the image of a perfect boyfriend. One who you know youâd never actually gel with; you need someone who pushes back a little.
Problem is... Joe knows that too.
Just when the thought crosses your mind that maybe Joe knows youâre making everything up, that youâve been lying this whole time youâve been holding hands, Joe confirms your fears.
âAlmost too um... almost too good to be true, wouldnât you say?â he narrows his eyes in suspicion, a smile still playing on his lips.
âYea, well. Some people are.â you shrug, but know Joe is reading your unsteady body language just fine.
âSure, sure. Yea. I guess so.â Joe says, and then falls silent.
He knows youâre lying.
Well, fuck.
And then, he lets the silence linger.
Joe doesnât say anything as he fishes his keys from a pocket and lets you into his building. Doesnât say anything as he pushes the lift button. Just gives you a little smile, like heâs trying to hold in a chuckle, thinking secret thoughts.
It gets in your hair.
âWhat?â
âNothing, itâs... no, itâs nothing.â
Joe lets his small smile turn into a fat smirk and itâs starting to get on your nerves. The lift doors open, and you assertively step inside before Joe can give you a small ladies-first gesture.
Joe watches you press the button to his floor before he shakes his head a little and follows you in.
âWhat?â you ask again, and to that, Joe finally lets a barking laugh out.
âWhat?â he mimics, feeding off of the brooding bit of bite he can sense growing underneath your skin.
âIf youâre trying to piss me off, itâs fucking working.â
âIâm not trying to do anything.â Joe patronises, joy very much still visible in the lines on his cheeks.
He knows youâre single.
He knows thereâs no Jasper.
âHmm.â Itâs your turn to narrow eyes at him. âYea, no. Of course not. You donât have to try to piss me off, youâre right. Youâve got the skills to auto-pilot your wayââ
In a lightning-speed quick move, Joe shuts you up by suddenly getting close enough for you to stumble back against the mirrored panel or the lift. Heâs got two hands touching your sides over your coat, firm enough for you to feel them through the thick layers of fabric.
It startles you into silence, and makes you audibly swallow.
You can see from up close how Joe smugly pushes his tongue against the inside of his cheek, eyes roving over you slowly, and, fuck.
Yea.
Yea. Okay.
It shifts.
All of it is shifting.
The annoyance and slight anger transfers into something else.
Into something a little more raunchy.
You feel a sudden rush down your body from the way Joeâs eyes blaze with intention.
Joe knows you. Bit rash of you to forget.
Just before the lift stills and the doors open behind him, Joe lets his body sway forward a bit to press himself up against you entirely. It makes your breath hitch and stutter. Makes you want to grab hold of the large collar of his coat to pull him down enough so you can kiss him.
But then, in a blink of an eye, heâs gone. Pushes himself off, quickly moves away, walks out of the lift, and leaves you there to catch your breath for a second.
Fucking hell.
Oh, tonight is going to be interesting.
You donât leave the lift until the doors start closing and you have to quickly launch yourself across to get an arm in front of the sensor. Down the hall you see him disappear into his flat, leaving his door open, and you take rushing steps to follow him inside.
You donât want to waste any more time.
You want to undress right there on his doormat, despite the bitterly cold temperature youâve just stepped into.
You want find Joe, who you can hear is already opening and closing cupboards in his kitchen, and just... you donât know. Jump him, you guess.
That lift moment has made you want to devour him. Made you want to be devoured by him.
But then you close his door and step into his kitchen, and find him at the counter. Heâs got his back turned, and is super calmly pouring two glasses of wine.
No urgency.
Zero haste.
He knows what heâs just done to you. Knows the effect that likely must have had. Heâs toying with you. Fucking playing.
You drop your coat where youâre standing, right onto the floor. Toe your shoes off to make a pile. You cross your arms and grab hold of the bottom of your top, ready to pull that over your head next, but you pause to watch Joeâs shoulders move under his shirt as he carefully twists and pushes the cork back onto the bottle to seal it.
When he turns around, he leans against the counter, one hand on the edge of it, and in the other heâs holding a nice fat glass of red.
Glass.
One glass.
For a moment you just assume that thereâs another hiding behind his back, though it doesnât even fully register.
You make eye-contact as he takes a slow sip of his drink, and then you slowly pull your top off. It reveals a lacy bra youâre convinced Joe likes the look of.
And youâre right.
Joe halts, and openly stares. Mouth in his wine. Hypnotised. Frozen on the spot. Mind slowly turning to mush.
Heâs predictable like that.
Men in general are easy like that.
You take a deep breath, inflating your whole chest, and Joe groans at the sight. The glass of wine gets put back down behind him, and you donât even think he has taken real sip. Then he takes a few steps to pull a chair from his table.
He holds a hand up that means, one second, and pulls at the fabric of his trousers to give himself a bit more space before he sits down. He shifts a little, settles in, and then leans back with his legs spread wide, both hands behind his head, fingers folded and elbows sticking out.
He takes a deep breath before he gives a small nod that says, carry on.
You bite your teeth into your bottom lip as you smile, because Joe is an idiot, and you let your hands find the button to your trousers to take off next.
Then, suddenly, it lands.
Thereâs one single glass of wine on the counter.
One.
You stop your movements as you look at it and watch the red liquid inside softly swirl from when Joe put it down.
It takes a second for Joe to follow your gaze, and for him to understand what youâre looking at.
He frowns in confusion a little, looks back at you to see that youâre still staring, and then looks back again, andâ
âOh...â
Your expression has gone cold.
And Joe thinks that maybe he gets it. He isnât entirely sure, but heâs smart enough to know that the show he had just settled in for is probably going to get cancelled if he doesnât do anything.
âDid you...â
But heâs not sure what to say. Doesnât know how to finish that sentence. When you start moving, he thinks maybe he doesnât have to.
Itâs crazy how this feels like it used to feel, before.
But, itâs a little different now, because⊠thereâs nothing at stake. Thereâs no you to protect. No you two as a couple to preserve.
That stupid single glass of red wine.
You fucking hate it.
And you know itâs sick, you know that youâre not meant to enjoy this, but the feeling of rage bubbling up within you honestly feels kind of good. Itâs been a while since youâve gotten to experience full-body resentment, and have the immediate source of it right there to take it out on.
You want to feel this dark, sticky displeasure.
Feels fucking good.
Joeâs been reminding you of what a shit boyfriend he was to you, which was meant to be ha-ha funny. Joe thought enough time had passed. You had gone from no-contact to two people that bickered for a bit, and then would end up in bed together. It had happened twice already, and you had all the right ingredients to keep this going. The recipe had proven itself delicious, and Joe thought he could just... serve the same meal again.
Itâs self-destructive, you know it is, but⊠you are hungry for it too.
You take a few slow steps and walk over to look at this glass of wine more closely. Joe watches you from his seat, entirely unsure of what to do, and then, without warning, you slowly push the whole thing into the sink.
Red splashes everywhere, and the glass clatters loudly, but it doesnât break.
Next, you take the bottle into your hands. Look at the label for a moment. Pretend to read it. Itâs still pretty full.
Too bad, you think. Such a waste.
You remove the cork, turn around to look Joe directly in the eye, and then tip that over as well. The whole sink colours blood read as you drain the whole thing, and all Joe can do is watch on from his seat.
He doesnât stop you.
Doesnât say anything.
Just watches you and feels the energy of the room build.
Heâd forgotten how things always build with you.
Youâre quite the sight, face reading thunder, standing in his kitchen in your bra, breath deepening with every second that passes.
Joe hates what it does to him inside of his trousers.
When the bottle empties, wine clattering in the sink, Joe sees your face change. Something more⊠calm seemingly overcomes you. You look... pleased.
âDoes that feel justified?â Joe asks, eyes blinking at you.
âFuck you. Yes it does.â
âDo you have any idea how expensive that was?â
You donât give a shit how expensive that was, but just because you know Joe does, you want to know.
âTell me.â
Joe scans your body all the way down and then all the way back up.
âCome here.â Joe holds an arm out and reaches for you.
âShut up. Tell me.â Youâre already making your way over.
âThatâs a class A premier grand cru...â
You take Joeâs hand and let him pull you to sit on his lap. To straddle him, thighs spread wide, one leg over each one of his.
âThat was a class A premier grand cru.â the words mean nothing to you, you know fuck all about wine, but thereâs something glorious about correcting Joe.
âHmm.â Joe hums as his nose nudges yours, and he lets both hands slide up your thighs until he finds the bits he likes holding most. He uses his grip to pull you in closer and continues, âA blend of merlot, and cabernet franc...â Joeâs French accent is awful. âAn award-winning ChĂąteau AngĂ©lus from... from 2016, I think...â
Thatâs fairly recent, you think. Canât be that expensâ
âCost me over 500 quid.â
Your eyes darken.
Good.
You wouldnât pay much more than a tenner for a bottle of the same size.
âShouldâve poured me a glass.â
And itâs only then that the penny drops. That he gets it. You can see it in his eyes. The flush of memories suddenly making it to the forefront of his brain.
The silent treatment.
The coffees he didnât make you.
The wine he eventually did pour for you.
That one glass of red that temporarily had fixed everything.
Shit.
Joe grimaces. Groans. Squeezes his eyes shut. Feels like an idiot.
âShouldâve poured you aââ
You kiss Joe.
Hard.
Breathe him in, and move in enough for it to almost make the chair tip backwards. Youâve got both your arms around his neck, hips moving over Joeâs lap in a desperate grind, all needy and in search of feeling something.
Fire.
You want to feel the fire.
Momentarily, you think itâs working. That something is catching aflame. You can feel how Joe spreads his legs even wider, bucking his hips upward as he presses himself into you.
Joe is straining in his trousers, and he groans as you figure out the right rhythm to make it feel good with every hip roll, with every back and forth.
You break the kiss to let a moan escape you, head dropping back, and Joeâs mouth finds the skin of your neck to taste. His teeth graze before he kisses as you fiercely move against each other. Louder noises escape you when Joe lets a hand curl around and grab you by the back of your neck.
âYea? That feel nice?â he pants, and all you can do is bob your head in a barely there nod as you keep moving.
It does feel nice.
Feels really nice.
Not exactly fire, though. Youâre both in trousers, fabric rubbing together furiously, dry humping each other like a pair of horny teenagers who havenât passed third base yet.
So, not fire, but nice none the less.
In contrast, thereâs a lot of things Joeâs feeling, and he kind of wants you to know about all of them. Needs to speak them into the air in order to fully process whatâs happening inside of his brain.
âDid you know I um⊠I broke everything off, the next day?â Joe starts, and stops to curse under his breath. âFuck. Yea, keep going. Shit. Ah... A-after you left, I mean, remember? I had a lot of m-missed calls, so I called her back, and Iââ
You shut Joe up with a kiss.
Try to at least.
âWe couldââ Joe starts again after turning his head and pushing you aside with his nose, both hands spread wide over your thighs as he helps you move over his lap. âRemember, how we really were something?â
You squeeze your eyes shut. Try to focus on the feelings inside of your body instead of on the words you donât want to hear.
âWe could be something still.â
âN-no.â
You refuse to acknowledge what Joeâs trying to tell you, but donât stop your movements. You canât stop, head dropping back. This all feels too good.
Itâs still not fire, though.
Thereâs no stakes.
Youâre both single, and every decision you have made this evening turns out to have been inconsequential.
Itâs... itâs almost boring.
But itâs good enough.
You just need a couple more seconds, you can feel it building already.
âWe c-couldnât be somethinhgh...â you choke on your words, unable to finish the sentence.
âYes,â Joe insists, voice low and breathy, your bodies still moving in tandem. He then uses one hand takes hold of your face by your cheeks, tilting your head down so he can make eye-contact with you for a second.
âYes we could.â He sounds hopeful as his eyes search yours. âDonât you get it?â
But your eyes are glassy. They flutter and want to roll back.
Joe knows this look.
Know what this means.
And itâs not like Joe thinks his kind words will really fix anything, but, maybe they will, you know? Maybe. Heâs glad he has said them anyway, even though you look like you havenât even properly heard him.
âYou close, baby?â
He switches gears.
âYea? Come on.â He helps you move with strong arms that press you down a little more, and your arms scramble behind his back in your want to hold onto him tightly.
âThere you go.â he coos into your ear, and, itâs not fire, but you come anyway.
Joe should have poured you a glass of wine.
Shouldnât have brought up bad memories, shouldnât have tried to be funny about it, and absolutely should have simply gone and poured you a glass.
You pretend that a glass of wine wouldâve made a difference tonight.
The difference that you had hoped to find.
That wouldâve lit the fire.
Deep down you know thatâs not it, but still. The empty bottle is right there, watching you come down from your high, Joe still hard beneath you, and itâs easy to use that as the excuse.
You decide on the spot that Joeâs going to have to deal with what resides inside of his underwear by himself.
Youâre done.
Sitting up, you look him in the eye for a short moment and softly but definitively say, âShouldâve poured me a glass.â and press a small kiss to his cheek which Joe gladly accepts.
Because he knows youâre right.
âShouldâve poured you a glass.â

Technically, you always dressed well for work. Corporate jobs require professional attire, obviously; but you were slightly overdressed today, and it wasnât to go into the office.
Tight skirt and matching blazer, a silky-satin button-up, black heels, and thigh-high stockings with a seam up the back. No, this wasn't how you dressed for a day in the office⊠this was how you dressed when you were closing a deal.
A little bell dinged as you walked into Gumshoe Video, and you looked around for a moment after you stepped inside: the decorations were⊠plentiful, and kitschy. The displays were so small, and just a quick glance at some of the shelves had you frowning in confusion. These are some seriously deep cuts⊠how do they make any money at this place?
Lucien came bounding up to you in an instant, hands pressed tight against his horribly out-of-fashion skinny jeans as if to hide that they were clammy already. "Do you, uh, need help finding anything?" he asked.
You offered him a pitying smile, about to offer him a friendly âno thanks, butâ and then tell him why you were really here⊠but you were interrupted.
Jonathan, who had taken a break from sipping on a soda behind the counter, coughed to get Lucien's attention as he quickly shook his head. He didn't seem to understand, though, looking back at you with his brows furrowed.
"Uh, ignore him,â Lucien laughed nervously. âAre you looking for a rental?"
"Dude, she's not here to get a movie!" Jonathan snapped. "Who dresses like that to pick up a tape?!"
"Maybe she's on her way to work!" Lucien returned sharply. "Or maybe she just came from somewhere!"
"Where?"
"My dreams!"
"No, your friend is right, I'm not here to pick up a movie," you admitted, and Lucien looked at you nervously.
"You, uh, don't like movies?" he wondered.
"I love them actually, butâ"
The door to the office swung open, with Neil glaring at you from the other side of it. "You," he announced with disdain.
"âbut I'm here to speak with the owner," you finished, tilting your head and grinning at Neil.
"We have nothing to speak about," Neil assured you as he walked towards you. Â
"We have multiple opportunities to discuss," you disagreed, "and my employers are very anxious that I deliver this message to you, so if we could please speak in your officeâ"
"Her employers? Is this chick in the mob?!" Lucien blurted out fearfully. "Neil, I know money's tight, butâ oh fuck, was that 'small business loan' just a coverâ"
"She's not from the mafia," Neil sighed. "They actually have some morals."
You extended a hand to introduce yourself to Lucien. After your name, you told him your job: "Head of Acquisitions, Media Giant, LLC."
Jonathan coughed again, poorly covering the sound of him saying "blood-sucking harpy" under his breath.
You smiled at him; "You really should get that cough checked out," you suggested pointedly.
âWhatever it is your puppet-masters want you to discuss with me,â Neil began, wiggling his fingers as if pantomiming a little marionette show, âyou can take right over there into our womenïżœïżœïżœs restrooms and shove directly up your ass.â
âOh, thatâs cute,â you smiled, âI bet youâve been saving that one since our last little visit. Can we go to your office now?â
âNo, you canât go in thereâ we just had the priest come by and bless it, we wouldnât want your feet to burn now, would we?â Neil snarked in return.
âFineâ get it out of your system,â you encouraged. âSay whateverâs been stuck in that pretty little head for the last month waiting for me to come back, and then we can have our meeting, alright?â
âIâ well, uhââ Neil stalled, looking a little flustered as he suddenly leaned on a shelf of tapes with one hand. âYou think Iâm pretty?â he mumbled nervously, running his free hand through his hairâ only to put a little too much weight on the shelf and nearly tilt it over, having to scramble to catch it and make sure it was balanced again.
âDude, pull yourself together,â Jonathan snapped at him, and Neil glared at him before looking back at you.
âFine, okayâ we can have a very brief conversation in my office,â Neil offered with a sigh, motioning for you to follow him, âbut itâs going to go the same way it did last time: with me telling you hell no and you having to do the walk of shame back to your headquarters.â
âLooking forward to it,â you smiled, waving goodbye to the other men before stepping into Neilâs office as he shut the door behind you.
You watched him step around you to sit at his desk, looking at you expectantly with his legs spread and his fingers interwoven in his lap.
âAm I allowed to ask why youâre dressed like a cowboy, by the way?â you asked with a raised eyebrow, and he frowned at you as he tossed aside the hat and slipped the poncho off over his head, leaving just a much more normal outfit of jeans and a button-up underneath.
âWeâre running a special on Westerns,â he explained, âitâs fun, okay? Not that you would know fun if it smacked you on the ass and called you sweetcheeks.â
âHoney, thatâs just what I call a Friday night,â you smirked as you stepped a little closer leaning against the side of his desk as he swallowed thickly. You couldnât just sit across from himâ you needed to keep the upper hand. âBut Iâm here for business. Letâs talk business, shall we?â
âRight, business,â he frowned. âIâm guessing your business here today is trying to buy my store, again?â
âSomething like that,â you relented.
âYou know, I guess I should take it as a compliment,â he grinned, leaning back further in the chair. âClearly, you know Iâm a threat.â
âPlease,â you rolled your eyes, âweâre a Fortune 500 company, and youâre a guy wearing a poncho.â
âI took off the poncho!â he defended.
âSo youâre⊠just a guy, then,â you corrected. âThe point is, weâre not worried about you stealing our business at all. We just think this location is going to waste.â
âYou want the real estate?â he realized.
âYouâre in a perfect spot, you know,â you informed him, âyou just need⊠a little more help utilizing it.â
He sneered at you sharply. âI donât want anything from you.â
âYou only hate me so much because you resent success,â you informed him with a sigh. âJust because youâre broke and proud doesnât mean making money is a sin.â
âIt is when you put making money above everything else,â he replied, âlike creativity and community and the authentic customer experienceââ
âHow exactly does Media Giant conflict with those things?â you scoffed. âWeâre a company founded on creativityâ and we always foster communityââ
âSpare me the doublespeak, Big Brother,â Neil scoffed, âyouâre just a bunch ofâ of robots! Your whole company, itâs just full of people trying to make a quick buck, top to bottom: you think the people in the back at McDonaldâs give a fuck about food? Thatâs what you are, the McDonaldâs of the film industry. Youâd probably let a monkey work there if it could wear a nametag and convince someone to rent Fast and Furious Fifty or whatever the fuck.â
âFine,â you sighed, âletâs just say for a moment that youâre right. That my company is so terrible because we donât employ people like you.â
He relaxed for a second, and you leaned in closer in hopes that he was really listening.
âThis is your chance to fix that!â you explained. âYou can save us from the inside out, you know. You can start from the bottom, be our best sales guy, and then it turns into a promotion and a raise and soon youâre climbing the corporate ladderâ where you can make some real change.â
He shook his head, laughing a little. âThatâs not actually possible, itâs just a fantasy you tell all your little minions to keep them compliant.â
âItâs what I did,â you shrugged.
âYou?â he realized with a laugh. âYou, in one of those navy vests and nametags, selling people tapes?â
âIâm sort of a cinephile,â you admitted. âI wanted a job where I could talk about movies all dayâ and thanks to me, that Media Giant location rented out more copies of The Seventh Seal than all the rest combined.â
He stood up quickly, stepping closer to where you sat on his desk. âY-you like The Seventh Seal?â
âItâs a masterpiece,â you answered, speaking a little softer as he was so close, âBergman is a genius.â
A strange look crossed over his face, a heavy-lidded sort of look as he examined you. âTarantino?â
âOverrated, but not bad,â you replied quickly.
âTarkovsky?â
âGood, but hard to watch.â
âLynch?â
You scoffed; âDonât insult me.â
He laughed a little, crossing his arms and looking away from you. âYou could be one of the good ones,â he realized, âbut you sold out. And now youâre just a suit.â
âItâs not so bad,â you smirked, âI think youâd like a little more⊠structure, given the chance.â
âAnd thatâs what youâre offering?â he pressed, and you nodded.
âWeâll let you keep the name, your employees⊠most of the decoration,â you offered, âyouâll just be technically a Media Giant franchise. You have nothing to lose, and so much fucking money to gain.â
He sighed a little, looking at you again. You could tell he was considering it, but not very thoroughly. All you could do was hope for the best, and wait for an answerâŠ

how do u think satoru would react to reader in a depressive episode, especially what do u think the kids would do
obviously, theyâve all noticed.
the past couple of weeks have not been lived through ignorantly. and you have not been acting normal.
the differences are just that, at first. tiny inconsistencies in your otherwise normal personality, your routine.
and then it becomes more than just a⊠change.
it starts off simple; megumiâs brows furrowing when you ask him a questionâsomething about his teacher, or what kind of drink he wants in his lunch that dayâand then forget what youâve just said as soon as he answers.
tsumiki watching, smiling along idly, as you rub your temples, sighing with every other sentence and squeezing your eyes tight like youâll be able to wake up if you try hard enough.
and satoru noticing when you linger in your room a bit longer, as the days pass. staring when you freeze looking at the wall in the morning, zoning out so hard that he has to shake you back to life.
just an accumulation of things that might indicate that something is up.
but as these momentsâmoments when youâre lost in your head, trying to conceal your entire being from all of them, and pretending that itâs all normalâincrease, the three of them learn a little something about observing.
and lying to themselves, of course.
eventually, though, when megumi or tsumiki inevitably say somethingâusually when youâre not in the room, off hiding somewhereâsatoru just shrugs.
(heâs going to lie his way through this, just like everything else, thank you).
âitâs a bad day,â heâll say, like the two children will comprehend that. like they donât know what a bad day means. âsheâs just tired.â
he could make a million excuses for you. oh, you didnât get enough sleep last night. oh, youâve only had one cup of coffee today. oh, the world is a truly terrible place and itâs only natural that it runs you down.
but he leaves them with the simplest of explanations, instead. maybe itâs his subtle way of denying that thereâs anything wrong. that you could be upset about something. it doesnât matter, anyway.
and tsumiki, ever so trusting of all of you, listens to him. if satoru says that youâre okay, then so does she. sheâll draw you a picture at school or try to help you make their lunches in the morning, but youâre fine. her questions end with an answer.
megumi, on the other hand, has never believed a word that satoru has said.
so when the older man swears that youâre okay, that they donât need to worry, megumi only begins to worry harder.
he sees that look on your face when you walk in the room, and megumi knows. maybe itâs because heâs the most attuned to you, out of everyone, in particular. maybe itâs because heâs observant, or too worrisome for his age (as you tell him).
but he knows.
and if satoru says one thing, megumiâs going to believe the other.
(plus the two of you have always had a symbiotic relationship. you worry about him, and he worries about you. you laugh at him, and he gives a little lip twitch in return).
so satoru is not surprised when megumi brings it up for the fourth time in a week.
âyou want me to what, exactly?â
âyou can talk to them, canât you?â he repeats, giving satoru a bland look. something like âare you serious.â âthey know you.â
satoru snorts. âi donât think my bosses will appreciate me telling them what they can or canât do.â
megumi gives him another look.
and yeah, so satoru already does that. they still donât appreciate it.
he sighs, smiling at the boy. anything to mess with him, really. he ruffles megumiâs hair. âkid, sheâs fine. i canât just tell them to give her a couple of weeks off. there has to be a reason. and,â he adds, cheerfully. âiâve been told itâs impolite to speak on someoneâs behalf without their input.â
âyou donât care about being polite,â megumi argues, crossing his arms.
satoru groans internally. heâs really not going to let this go.
itâs not that satoru necessarily disagrees, but anything he does to help you is going to be refuted with a âbutt out,â or âleave me alone, satoru.â
âtrue,â he says, grinning as he mocks the boys stance. âbut i do care about being yelled at. particularly by your mother.â
âshe needs a break.â
satoru rolls his eyes. âsheâs getting one. the next couple of days are free, and sheâs taking a nap right now.â
megumi frowns, even deeper than usual, and stares satoru down until he breaks.
âmegumi,â the man groans, childishly, pushing the boy out of the room. âyou donât need to worry about her. chill out. just go back to reading about rocks or whatever you were doing.â
âitâs geology.â
satoru waves a hand, indifferent.
(secretly trying to come up with a way to get you to talk to him. he canât ask because youâll just ignore him. he canât force it out of you because that would get the two of you nowhere.
what other options are left, really? youâve put satoru in a terrible position).
âthen can we get something, instead?â megumi asks, almost pleading. âflowers, or⊠whatever girls like.â
ây/n already has flowers. i bought them.â
âbuy something else.â
âwho taught you to be this stubborn?â
megumi only scowls at him.
satoru sighs, scratching his head. he knows he should do somethingâbut heâs so used to sitting around and waiting for you to fix everything.
yes, he does recognize that itâs a terrible habit, and completely unfair. he also recognizes that he is the worst person in the world.
eventually he sighs. âokay. how about i order dinner?â he asks, almost wincing. itâs the most natural responseâeverything can be fixed with food, in satoruâs sophisticated opinion. âthatâll be easy. want to go ask mom what she wants?â
megumi practically runs to your room, leaving satoru with no time to remind him that youâre probably asleep, knocking just brieflyâfrom what satoru can hearâbefore going in.
he tip-toes up to the door, also wanting to check in.
satoru is nothing if not nosy.
and he might as well let megumi do all of the dirty work.
âum, i donât care,â he hears you saying. âwhatever you guys want.â
âitâs for you.â
thereâs a pause. then, âreally, megs, iâm not very hungry, soâŠâ
megumi is frowning down at you when satoru steps in.
âgood nap?â he asks, smiling and sitting at the edge of your bed.
âyou donât need to get dinner. itâs my turn.â
he waves a hand. âi feel like takeout.â
you frown, about to argue when megumi speaks up, glancing between the two of you with an almost furious expression.
âwhatâs wrong?â he asks, his voice soft but mad. like usual. satoru realizes that heâs been tricked into contributing to this.
âwhat?â
âwhy are you upset?â
âupset?â you repeat, eyes widening. âiâm not upset, meguââ
âare you sick?â
âno,â you say, immediately. âiâm just a little tired but itâsââ
âmegumi,â satoru interrupts, trying to ignore the almost hurt look on your faceâthe glance you send his way, pleading and worried. he knows you hate this the most. âletâs let mom sleep some more, okay? tsumiki and you can decide what you wantââ
âno.â
and neither of you can argue, or console the confused boy, before heâs climbing into your bed with a determined look on his face.
satoru tried to grab on to him, but megumi is having none of that, shaking him off before he can get a good grip. youâre looking at satoru anxiously, and this is the worst.
if satoru knows anything about you, itâs that you donât want to be coddled. you donât want to accept any help, even if itâs from your sweet, concerned son.
âmegumiââ you say, though, satoru notes, donât make any attempts to move him when he struggles to get under the covers with you, or when he just sits by your side, barely touching you.
âiâm staying here.â
âreally, bud, iâm okay. you donât need to worry about me.â
âyouâre sad.â
âiâm not.â
megumi looks at you, and satoru watches as you both share a glance. an internal conversation heâll never get to be apart of.
for once in his life heâs not even jealous about it.
âitâsâŠâ you say, but the two boys watch as your shoulders slack and your face drops. all at once, you lose color, life, and just sit there. âitâs fine.â
you say it to them, but it sounds more like a reminder to yourself.
satoruâs face falls. he has no idea what to say, what to do to help youâheâs spent so much time denying that there was anything wrong, that he could do anything to help, and now heâs got no answers.
he feels like an idiot, sitting there. megumi shouldnât be taking more initiative, he should be the one worrying about you, the one to go toâ
megumi doesnât say anything though. he only moves closer to you, not complaining when your arm wraps around his shoulder and you hold him to you.
like a life vest. a support in all of the vastness.
he doesnât need to say âitâs okay,â or âiâm here for you,â for the words to ring out across the the air.
and, satoru realizes, quickly, heâs only doing what you do for them. what you do best.
climbing in beside them and making sure they know that theyâre not alone. being that support, no matter how unwanted.
megumiâs learned from the best.
âsorry,â you mutter to him. âi know im gross.â
megumi shakes his head and settles into you even further. and the boy doesnât cuddleâor, at least, without being forcedâbut your face softens as he leans against you, allowing this kind of intimacy.
and, maybe, satoru thinks, thatâs the problem with all of you.
no one knows quite what to say. what to do to help someone with something that they canât understand. neither he or megumi is sure how to dig you out of this hole.
none of you are very good with words.
but, at least, satoru knows how to be good at this.
he sets his glasses on your bedside table, and he moves you both over with ease, smiling when you both grunt at his intrusion.
and then youâre a tower of people, all leaning against one another. building blocks stacked on top of each other.
you relax into satoru almost instantly and he kisses the top of your head, feeling some sort of prideâjust at the fact that youâll let him be here, with you.
maybe thatâs the thing with families, he thinks. no one needs to say anything for it to be okay.
and the uneasiness sits there with all of you. the past couple of weeksâthe distancing and disassociatingâlinger there.
thereâs nothing he can say to make everything all better. he could destroy the entire world right now, save for your house, and it still wouldnât be enough.
but this is nice. a hug might not fix everything, but it wonât make anything worse
and after a minute or two, you say: âwhereâs tsumiki?â
and she peeks her head out from your door, smiling at all three of you. it takes her three seconds to jump on the bed, having been waiting there the whole time, the final piece to your messed up puzzle.

Thank you so much for replying to my previous ask in such detail (I loved it and really, really appreciate your efforts đ)
I just started rewatching the anime and I saw the focus they kept on Lisanna hence my doubt. From Erza I felt it was more of a sibling type dynamic (that Erza sees Natsu and Gray more as her younger brothers) but they really pushed the Lisanna narrative in the beginning. And given the way he reacted differently to Lucy and Lisanna like becoming flustered with Lisanna I wondered.
Please do talk about the killing himself part too.
I love reading your analysis!! Thank you so much for your hard work âŁïž (Feel free to push in NaLu scenes that show it their bond more obviously)
Hi!! I'm happy you liked it, I'm going to try and talk about Natsu and Lisanna a little bit more and then I'll start with the whole killing himself thing. (following this post)
I think the reason they focused on Natsu and Lisanna at the beginning is because a lot of studios/mangakas have the need to create a couple, even better if it's an MC. And pairing Lucy and Natsu up from the beginning doesn't make any sense, they just met and didn't know each other.
Lisanna is a really important person to Natsu, although they hardly interact anymore.
She supported Natsu when he first came to the guild and became his first friend. Not only that, she helped him with Happy, hence the whole wife and husband thing, they represented a family.
Natsu is not as stupid as they make him out to be, he knows what marriage is, exclusivity to a partner
and things only adults are supposed to do.
He knew what Lisanna meant by "we'll get married in the future," and if she had never "died," NaLi would have made sense.
But it happend, Lisanna "died" and Natsu had to get over her. This doesn't mean forget her tho, as I said, Natsu LOVES his family and friends, forgetting about lisanna just because she died would not make any sense. It takes time to accept death, and after Igneel's disappearance, the death of lisanne hit him, HARD.
The only thing he could do was getting over her, but not forgetting her.
And that's when Lucy comes into the picture.
She keeps bumping into him, buys him food for "no reason" and talks all mighty and good about his family, basically, she gives him good vibes. He takes her to FT and for some reason she follows him everywhere and before he knows it, he wants to partner up with her.
This is development by natsu's part, he is ready to open up to new people (Lucy) and pretty much they become attached to the hip, because "she is nice", yeah, that's his reason.
Lisanna wasn't meant to come back, mashima himself said so, the only reason they brought her back was because the animation staff preasured him to because they liked her. NaLi is not happening because Mashima never had anything planned for her, and I'm not saying this because I'm a NaLu fan, it's just facts. Thats why she is so useless in the manga, because mashima doesn't know what to do with her. She is just there.
-.-.-.-.-.-.-
Let's beging with the whole suicide thing
I want to clarify that this is MY PERSPECTIVE, you might agree or disagree with me and thats completely fine.
Let me beging with one thing, and that is that natsu IS NOT SUICIDAL.
He wants to live his life at the fullest and he looks forward to the future.
Then why do I say he wanted to kill himself? because when lucy "died", he was so full of grief that he just didn't care any more.
One thing that they make clear is that the demons of zeref, once awaken, have only one thought in their minds: KILLING ZEREF
Lucy's "death" is what awoke END, Natsu felt so desperate and he was so full of grief that he literally abandoned his humanity.
She was gone and he blamed zeref, because if he had never started the war, she would be alive, that was enough for him to abandon his morals and look forward to kill someone.
Now comes the important part: his confrontation with grey
This part is really important because it shows that Natsu is aware of his actions.
If he really was completely possessed by END, then he would not have hesitated and warn grey about getting out of his way, he would have just killed him and keep going, but Natsu warns him several times
Until he doesn't give a damn anymore and attacks him.
Natsu was adamant about going after zeref and killing him, but he is also aware that if he does so, he will die. Zeref told him so himself.
But lucy is dead, so he just doesn't care anymore.
Igneel talked to him about looking at the future
But Lucy wasn't in that future anymore, so he can't look forward for it, because it died the moment Lucy did. if she wasn't in it, why bother? He knew that killing zeref was killing himself.
Gray literally saved Natsus life confronting him
This whole panel is foreshadowing to Lucy dying and Natsu wanting to die because of it

[ content warning: discussion of in-canon sexual abuse ] Maybe itâs just because Iâm not too active in the ALNST fandom and mostly observe from afar, but I think this fandom brushed aside way too quickly the fact that Till was sexually assaulted. I have never seen anyone talk in depth about like, what that actually means in terms of his arc and the storytelling of his character. Which I find deeply, deeply upsetting because holy fucking shit.
This man right here has been told, basically his entire life, that not only is he himself not worthy of being treated as a human, but that his body is not his body, but a piece of property that can be owned. And whoever owns his property can use it for whatever, and however they wish. Now, dehumanization is nothing new or unique in this world, obviously. The very concept of Pet Humans is dehumanizing by nature, leaving all six of our main characters as victims to it, even those who are more well-off like Mizi. But Till is a specially fucked up case almost distinctly unlike the rest, because he is actually treated like a fucking dog.
(x) Ivan: If you keep rebelling like that, they wonât ever remove your collar you know? Till: This annoying bastard⊠â Ivan: I told you so, didnât I? You didnât listen? Till: This annoying bastard... (translation courtesy of @leiikos on youtube)
(x)
An unruly animal who needs to be leashed up and put in itâs place. Animals, as is common knowledge, are not on the same level as a human being. But they are ordained to follow the commands of those above them. And if someone (thing) isnât doing as it is toldâŠ
It deserves to be taught better. But Iâm getting ahead of myself. This is the mindset that has followed Till his entire life by the ones who were supposed to take care of him. He is not human, even less human than the existing inhuman. He is a pet, even more so than the other pets, an animal. A thing. Property. Something to own. And the best thing about owning something?
You gain the ability to do whatever you want to it. Tillâs body was not his from the start. It was used as something to toy around with, experiment with, to train and train and train, presumably for his whole life. His body, his skin, his flesh and bone and blood, it was all nothing more than a plaything. So what if he screams? Just ignore it. Or donât. If this competition has taught us anything, voices have the most value of all. On top of it being reinforced that Till is not deserving of humanity, he is also not deserving of his bodily autonomy. People are free to do whatever they want with his body because itâs not his body, itâs theirs. And that brings us, finally, to the scene itself
He canât sing her song, he refuses to. This isnât the first time heâs refused to do something, far from it actually. What was once an innocent puppy with dilated hope in his eyes has grown into an angry, disobedient mutt. And we know what happens to an animal that refuses to do what theyâre told. But thereâs something interesting about dogs, or rather about the ones they descended from, the wolf: When the circumstances call for it, they will bite the hand thatâs supposed to feed them.
And here is where I intrude to remind you that this is the only time we see anyone physically fighting back against the aliens in the confines of Alien Stage. We see Hyuna and Mizi fucking up aliens in All In, but that was after they had escaped from the cage. And you could make a case for Mizi trying to escape the grasp of the guards that grabbed her in Ruler of My Heart, but from what we saw she didnât actually lay a hand on them and more so just tried to force herself out of their grasp. though if you disagree with me on that that's fine Here though? Till has this bitchâs face grabbed into his palm with a bottle in hand ready to smash it directly in between itâs eyes. I consider this to be the first act of physical violence shown against the aliens within the uncomfortably tight enclosure. And itâs triggered not because of anything personally done to Till, which on its own could probably fill a list that reaches the ground. But because of the prospect of Mizi being dead. Till knows that this place is shit, that his life is shit. Said so directly on his profile.
Dislikes: Everyone, including Guardian Urak (translation courtesy of @kh47uo on twitter)
But he stays regardless because Mizi is there. If Mizi is dead, Till has absolutely nothing to loseâŠRight?
I can almost imagine him thinking: Thereâs nothing you can put me through thatâs worse than every other way youâve hurt me. âŠBut there was. Oh there was.
A final, disgusting message to the pet to put him back in his place. Back on his leash. Making sure he will never forget where he stands for the rest of his days.
And that is really what the sexual assault of Till represents to me. It is a cruel reminder to Till that fighting back is impossible, having hope, being free, it might as well be a fool's fantasy. He will always be less-than-human, less than anything. His body will always be the property of the ones that were supposed to protect him, claimed, and then used used used until itâs worn out and dead.
And the aliens chose to exemplify that fact in the most direct way they possibly could.
So what if he screams? Just ignore it. Or donât. If this competition has taught us anything, screams have the most value of all
#if you can't tell my rewatch has left me with a lot of thoughts.#sorry that this is kind of half-analysis-half-unnecessary prose#uh. till just does this to me#I also apologize if everything I've said has been said verbatim before#like I said I mostly wrote this post because I haven't seen this moment discussed with the amount of depth and care I think it deserves#but also up until this point I've mostly observed this fandom so. might be wrong lmao#~đ« a constellation!đ«~#vivinos#alien stage#alnst#alnst till#alien stage till

-> basketball player gojo satoru x male reader
requested!!! a rlly old req from an anon in my inbox <3 ty for the req and jm so sorry it took so long however the 6k+ word count hopefully makes up for that. + listen to margaret by lana del rey on repeat for the full affect
-> prev
warnings : satoru ooc (i do NOT agree w that warning but i GUESS I could see why someone would disagree đđđ), very fluffy to the point it seems angsty!!! talk about the homosexuals!!!! satoru mentions small familial conflict in the interview portion
diamond on your ring
cause when you know, you know
when you know, you know
âthank you so much for agreeing to a sit down interview, gojo-sama,â the interviewer politely bows to the tall man the second satoru walks into the room. immediately, he bows in response, finding the sudden formalities almost abnormal.
at this point, he was so used to other interviews heâd done be super quick, informal and just reporters looking for answers to their questions with little regard for things such as respect.
this was a breath of fresh air, but satoru couldnât help but feel bad for the interviewer whose back must be hurting now with how long theyâd been bowing.
âoh, please, no need for such strong formalities,â satoru chimed in, gently resting his hand on their shoulder to goad them into standing upright, âgojo is fine, too, no need for the honorifics. itâs not like iâm royalty,â he joked, hoping to lift the mood in the room.
it seemed to work as the interviewer finally cracked a smile and dropped their shoulders from being so stiffly held up to their ear.
âthen, gojo-san, please take a seat and we can get you all micâd up for the interview. it should take no longer than a half hour, longest running an hour and a half, but we really donât want to take up too much of your time,â satoru shook his head, assuring them that it was fine and then taking his seat.
he noticed that the cameras were already filming, but didnât think twice on it. technically, from the moment he stepped foot in the room, the interview already started. thatâs what it said on paper, at least.
âerm, to just go over what we might be discussing in this interview,â the reporter said, clearing their throat as they looked over their list of questions, âsince this is a very specific interview, the questions are going to mainly be centered around your romantic relationships and very personal questions,â
satoru nodded, moving in his seat to allow the staff better access in getting the microphone to stay hidden in his clothes, âyeah, my manager sent me the general idea of questions of stuff youâd be asking, itâs alright with me,â he said, taking off his sunglasses, âplus i think iâm pretty familiar with the publisher and the audience, so itâs alright. really, ask me anything, this would probably the only time iâd do something like this,â he encouraged with a friendly smile, trying to show his genuinity.
the interviewer nodded in understanding, clicking their pen and writing a note in their notepad.
satoru had done his research beforehand. the publisher that was interviewing him, or rather the person interviewing him in steed of the company, was a pretty vocal LGBTQ+ company. it was a rare occurance in japanese media, especially as a standalone party, but they proved successful. satoru knew why they were interviewing him, obviously because he was gay and very outwordly apart of the community. he also knew that they were always respectful individuals, which is why he didnât hesitate in accepting the interview.
if he was going to be asked about his sexuality and his very much gay relationship, heâd rather it be done through a respectful, and most likely very understanding, person rather than those that would shout at him invasive questions.
âthen, are you ready, gojo-san?â the interviewer snapped him out of his daydream, making him nod his head. âletâs test the mic really quick, then we can jump into it,â
âi am gojo satoru,â he recited, looking at the staff for a thumbs up on the feedback. when he got a positive thumbs up, the interviewer followed with their own test and then they were able to get into the interview.
âletâs start with introductions, iâm ishii haruto and iâll be the one interviewing you today, gojo-san. lovely to meet you,â he bowed his head in greeting, making satoru follow suit.
a relaxed grin was on his face as he introduced himself again, âi havenât said it before, but iâm gojo satoru,â it was a small joke that uplifted the mood of the room once more. haruto appreciated it, laughing to himself at satoruâs subtle charisma.
âwell, to get right into the interview, letâs start with hard hitting questions,â satoru braced himself, clenching his fists in his pantâs pocket, âhow are you?â
satoru smiled, shooting a fake warning look harutoâs way, âiâm wonderful, how are you ishii-san? i hope youâre doing well, too,â
âiâm doing very well. itâs an honor to interview you, thank you for giving us this opportunity,â haruto said, subtly bowing his head once more, âyou truly donât understand how inspiring it will be for the rest of japan to hear your story, youâre doing such a big thing for all of us in this room, and for those that will read this interview later. so, really, thank you, gojo-san,â
satoru pursed his lips at the sentimentality, realizing quickly that this interview was going to be really different than anything heâd ever experienced before. âsoberingâ up a little bit, he smiled at haruto and nodded his head, âiâm happy to be here, too. i hope whoever reads this learns something about themselves,â
âyes, that will be the end goal,â haruto agreed before looking down at his notepad, âwell, i guess we can just start off with this one â when did you know you were gay?â
satoru hummed, âi donât really know. for me, i guess it was always in the back of my mind? i mean, i never had a crush on a girl growing up. and i thought it was normal. my parents did as well, seeing how driven i was from a young age to be successful in basketball, i think they wrote it off as me just being determined to make my dreams come true. no time for distractions, or something like that. but deep down, i think i always knew.â he paused, crossing his legs as he decided to add one more tidbit, âand i never thought it was wrong, either. to me, having a crush on a boy wasnât a big deal. i just thought, huh, this sucks i like someone, i might get distracted from basketball now,â
the two shared a laugh at his joking remark at the end, but until that point the interviewer was very immersed in the personal story. he was even humming in acknowledgement of everything he was saying, as if he related.
âso when you began pursuing your current boyfriend, it was not a big deal for you? even given your position as a famous basketball player?â then haruto looked at the camera men and held his hand up, a signal of some sort that satoru was cued in on, and leaned forward, âwould it be alright if we refer to him with his name?â
satoru quickly nodded, understanding now that the hand gesture meant for their mics to be cut so that they wouldnât receive any audio.
then they were back on and satoru answered the original question, âno, it wasnât a huge deal. well, it was to everyone else, i guess. but to me and my close friends, it wasnât. they already knew i was really into him and had a big crush on him before i did, so it really wasnât a big shock when i made my efforts more obvious. well, as obvious as you can get with having everyone watching you. i tried to reel it in a little when my friendâs told me he may not be comfortable with all the attention, that was the only time i really was aware of it and began to calm down on my advances,â
âoh, so it wasnât a big deal to you, but in consideration of his feelings, you kind of held back a little bit?â
âyeah, because if things ended up not working out, then all the neutral attention we were getting would have become negative. rumors couldâve started that wouldâve hurt him, and i definitely didnât want that, so yeah,â satoru said, reiterating his main point from earlier, âi just wanted him to be comfortable whenever we were in public,â
âthatâs really considerate of you, gojo-san,â the interviewer complimented, making satoru laugh with a wave of his hand.
âhe never asked for all the attention in the first place, i definitely didnât want to make our already secretive position more hostile than it needed to be,â satoru explained, âso everything had to be toned down. fortunately, he was very understanding and could see where i was coming from.â
âwhat do you mean by that? did he ever say anything about it?â
âwell, weâre just like any other couple. we just want privacy and respect, some people donât want to give it to us. those people that just want to hurt our relationship just because weâre both guys. if i wasn't as famous as i am, iâd imagine itâd be easier to mange. not that it still wouldnât be stressful â but at least, not the entire country would be breathing down our necks,â satoru explained, choosing his words carefully. âno matter what, though, if youâre in a relationship with someone of the same sex, itâs going to be hard.â
âthatâs true, but you two have faced a lot of very hard obstacles. itâs sad how many times people have wished to see you two broken up,â haruto said, an angry look on his face, âhow did you two manage to overcome those obstacles?â
âwell, we had each other, loved ones, and close friends as support systems. they were really helpful and sweet, they were the most understanding. but i think, the most important one, was that we had each other. we were in it together. not to say that all the negative attention was good or even worth it, but it made our love for one another stronger,â satoru sighed, thinking about the early days when he was first officially dating [name], âi just wish they were nicer to him. he didnât deserve any of it,â
there was a pause of respect from haruto before they continued on, âyou said you had support of loved ones and close friends â were they supportive from the get-go or did it take âconvincingâ for them to understand?â
âmost of them were really understanding and could see that my love for him was too strong to be denied, so that was nice. but there were definitely instances of family members not understanding or simply refusing to support,â satoru answered with a grim look on his face.
âhow did you deal with that?â
âwell, it was mainly family members, unfortunately, that rejected my lifestyle. so i had to do the best thing and cut them off. i couldnât have them in my ear telling me that i wasnât meant to be this way or that [name] and iâs relationship had to be put to a stop. so i cut them off completely and havenât spoken to them since. i could afford to make that sacrifice since i had [name] and others as support. he really helped me through that and the realization that not everyone will understand or see it as we doâŠyou just have to learn how to deal with it in each situation and circumstance,â
haruto hummed in intrigue and understanding, âwas it hard? cutting them off and coming to that realization?â
âi would say it wasnât as hard as one would thinkâŠnot when i love [name] so much iâd sacrifice anything to be with him. i wasnât going to settle for anything passive aggressive or half-assed when it came to support of my relationship with him. like i said, i wasnât going to let anyone bad mouth him or our relationship, i wouldnât settle for that in exchange of keeping blood relatives around. even if someone is family, if they hurt someone i love, it still counts for something. theyâre still hurting him and in turn hurting me. thatâs not family anymore,â satoru said definitively. he had a hard look on his face. almost the one that was only mirrored whenever he was on the court. it showed how serious of a topic it was to him.
âseeing you so be so openly protective and in love with your boyfriend has gotten you two a lot of attention over the years, most of it is praise from others since they do think itâs adorable. does affection that you show [name] come very naturally?â
âof course it does,â satoru grinned, happy to move onto more lighthearted topics. he had the widest grin on his face now, thinking of when he would go home and cuddle his boyfriend, âiâm a very affectionate person, anyway. ask suguru, heâll tell you,â with the reference to his best friend, who plays on the same team as him, haruto grins, âbut i made sure that [name] was comfortable with it first and then went on from what he was okay with, until we got to the point right now where we both donât really care,
if i know iâm in love with my boyfriend, i want other people to know as well. there was a bad rep surrounding me, in my early days especially. everyone thought i was a playboy, for some reason,â he shyly scratched the back of his head, âso i thought that me showing that i was very loyal and very much in love with my boyfriend, people would stop thinking that of me. and it worked! so, it was a win-win situation,â
haruto nods, looking at his cue cards with a grin, âand you two have had a really long relationship-â
âalmost coming on 5 years now,â satoru giggles, a blush evident on his pale cheeks, âit doesnât feel that long, though,â
âyeah, itâs as if it was only yesterday the two of you made it public and sent everyone into a panic,â the two laugh at the memory. the headlines that day going hysterical over the basketball playerâs very much gay personal life. âand since youâve been in a relationship for so long, has it ever crossed your mind to tie the knot permanently? settle down with [name]?â
satoru paused, the smile on his face faltering ever so slightly as he repeated the question in his mind.
marriage with [name] always was the answer. but, the idea of when and where and how never crossed satoruâs mind. well, it did. in repeated passing thoughts. but, never long enough for him to commit to the idea. heâs thought of how he would do it, where, but never really when. and even then, the how and where were never set in stone. he wanted it to be romantic, definitely had to be something that the two would retell to their kids one day as the most romantic and loving gesture satoru has ever done.
but âwhenââŠsatoru never put a pin in the calendar on what date.
he hummed where he sat, resting his chin in his palms as he thought about how to answer.
âhuh, wellâŠi know iâm going to marry him someday,â satoru assures the interviewer, who was silently panicking that they had accidentally asked a question too invasive, âbut, i think iâll keep the details of that to myself, haha,â satoru played it off as a tease, but internally he was sweating bullets.
there was never going to be a right time. a right time insinuates a moment where satoru is so overwhelmed with love that a proposal would be the only verbal indicator of that feeling.
but, satoru has been so madly and deeply in love with [name] for so long already that the âright timeâ feels like every waking moment.
when the two moved in together, made that huge, empty house a home for themselves. when he took [name] on their first overseas trip and they learned even more about each other. when satoru takes him home for the holidays where he just so perfectly matches with his family members and comes even more out of his shell.
satoruâs been so in love with [name] for so long it feels like theyâre already married. [name] knows him like the back of his hand and vice versa.
it was as if he always knew. he just knew in the back of his mind that theyâd end up standing in perfectly tailored suits at the end of the aisle, saying heartfelt and cheesy vows to each other. satoru knows heâll probably end up crying more than [name] and he knows that that day will be the happiest heâll ever be.
the question made his head spin around as a flurry of questions of when he would propose filled his head, but it did solidify one thing. the fact that satoru just knows that one day heâll end up being [name]âs husband and [name] his. and he wants that day to come sooner rather than later.
âwell, i think the final question for our interview today that can wrap this up, will be: do you have any advice for young aspiring individuals that might read this and see this side of you?â
satoru gulped, suddenly feeling as if the temperature in the room had gone up twenty degrees. he tugged on the collar of his button up, swallowing as he spoke carefully, âjust always be true to yourself and your dreams. it doesnât matter what other people think because if you know what you want and you know that itâs your dreams on the line, there shouldnât be anything standing between you and that goal. whether it be a person you want to pursue or if itâs your dream career, donât give up.â he attempted a smile at haruto and it seemed to have done its work as the interviewer bowed his head deeply in gratitude.
the two finished the closing remarks of the interview with fluidity. he handed the mic back to the staff, who thanked him with their heads bowed. but before he could leave, he pulled haruto aside and lowered his voice, âuhm, could you hold off on publishing this for a while?â
haruto blinked rapidly, a nervous look coming onto his face, âwell, the editing and transcription of the video will take some time, probably a little over a monthâŠhow long were you thinking of keeping it under wraps, gojo-san?â
it was a plead to not make him push the publication date back further. satoru hums, âa little over a month?â
âyes, that is what my advisor gave me as a âgraceâ period in editting everything,â haruto nods, the nervous look on his face not disappearing once.
âthat should be alright then, sorry for worrying you. a little over a month is fine,â satoru grins, feeling his chest bloom with warmth. âthank you so much for the interview, have a lovely day,â
and with that parting farewell, satoru rushed out of the building with his mask and sunglasses on and practically jumped into his car.
in the safety confines of his car, satoru rested his head against the wheel. his breathing was rapid and his cheeks were ablaze. was he really going to do this? he looked at his phone that had the directions sent to the nearest luxury jewelry shop, his eyes flitting across the screen to take all the information in.
âseriously, satoru?â he panted to himself, leaning back to his seat and looking up at his car roof, âit took some guy interviewing you to grow the balls to do this? really?â
he cursed himself for waiting so long, setting his car into reverse and speeding his way to the shop. he had his sunglasses, hat, and mask on as he exited his car, careful to try and not attract too much attention. if the media caught light of this before he could properly do it, he would have someoneâs head on a spike - he didnât care.
no one was ruining this for him. for [name], too. satoru wasnât going to let the stupid papparazzi tarnish this moment, as they had done for so many other intimate ones before this.
satoru grit his teeth, pushing the shop door open and breathing a sigh of relief to find that it was empty. he looked at the displays they had out, acting calm when on the inside he was sweating bullets.
âlooking for anything in particular?â the attendent asked him, not at all acknowleding his appearance which meant that his disguise had worked.
he cleared his throat, still looking down as he shakily replied, âwedding rings, wedding rings for men, please,â
thank god the attendent wasnât an asshole or else satoru mightâve really just slammed his head into the wall in frustration. because the attendent just guided him in the direction of where the menâs wedding rings were. he didnât speak more either, just hovering around in case satoru needed help.
âfuck,â he cursed under his breath, trying his hardest to focus and think about which one [name] would like the most. âfuck, what if i get him one he doesnât like? what the fuck does that mean for us? oh my god,â he panicked.
and it was almost funny. a 6â6 lean guy practically clutching his chest to stop his heart from jumping out of his ribs and flopping around on the floor. he was seriously getting heart palpitations, satoru swore this is the most nervous heâs ever been in his life.
what the fuck would he say when he actually proposes?
âi love you, marry me?â
fuck no. gojo satoru wasnât going to settle for a shit proposal like that. and he certainly wasnât going to settle for a shitting ring either, but it was so stressful thinking of whether or not his boyriend (manifest: soon to be fiance) would like the one he picked out.
satoru never was the one with good fashion or style sense in the relationship.
he was freaking out.
some of the rings on display were too loud and extravagant that he knew [name] wouldnât enjoy it, but then going for someting super, duper plain was out of the question.
âdo you have a particular agenda in mind?â
âi have nothing in my mind right now,â satoru snapped at the worker, apologizing seconds later, âiâm sorry, iâm just really stressed right now.â
âitâs alright, many are when they come in. they see the displayed rings and get self-conscious of the one that they choose. well, just go with your gut feeling on what you and your partner would like. thatâs the best advice i can give you. you know them best, after all,â
this fucking attendent was right, satoru knows his own boyfriend (manifest: soon to be fiance) better than anyone. he just has to see something to spark an inspiration in him.
and he thinks heâs found it when he looks at a particular timeless piece that is cushioned on a small red velvet pillow.
âwhat can you tell me about that one?â satoru asked, although heâs almost completely set on just buying it right now. it was perfect. the coupled ring that pairs with it was also so effortlessly something he would love to wear as well.
âthat one is in the style of an eternity ring, with the VVS diamonds cut into an emerald shape, obviously. the metal is platnium with 11 carats,â the attendent skillfully answers, âgoes for about 9,871,750 yen ($70,000 USD). we offer installment plans, though-â
âno, iâll just take it, thanks, though,â satoru said, easily sliding his card over. âi also want the paired one too,â
âthat one is-â
âyou donât have to tell me about it or the price, just box them pretty for me and iâll be on my way,â satoru grinned, looking at the bills he had in his wallet and pulling out a couple 10,000 yen notes, (adding up to about 200,000 yen - $1,417 USD). as the attendent very meticulously packaged the rings safely, satoru slid over the cash to him.
âthanks for helping,â satoru said, tapping his card and approving the transaction before walking out of the store. the hefty cash tip left on the counter for the attendent to gleam at.
and if he thought that the picking the ring part was hard, now he had to come up with how he was actually going to propose.
he always said that he wanted it to be romantic, but with [name] already waiting at home there was no way he could set something up at their own house. and, honestly, he wanted this to not be so public in fear of it leaking to the headlines. so he would have to settle with making it romantic in his home.
but, the more he thought about it, the more carefree he felt in the atmosphere. as long as [name] was just there exisisting, that was all he could ask for. satoru carefully pocketed the velvet box into his pant leg, keeping the pair safe as he drove back home completely undetected by papparazzi.
when he got home, he had to stop himself from automatically calling out to his boyfriend (manifest: soon to be fiance). the âhoney, iâm home,â died in the back of his throat, thankfully, so his arrival home was still a secret. he took off his shoes and walked up the stairs to their shared bedroom where [name] was most likely resting.
it wasnât too late, but by now his bedtime routine was probably done and he was getting comfortable in bed.
and satoruâs assumptions were right because when he gently pushed the bedroom door open, he saw [name] cuddled into a pillow and watching the TV that was set up against the wall. upon closer inspection, satoru saw that the pillow he was cuddling was actually from his side of the bed. he was cuddling his pillow as he waited for him to come home.
that, unfortunately, made satoru breakdown in tears almost right away. his eyes stung with the salty fluid breaking through his composure. [name] was too far to notice, though, simply lifting his head and waving him over with a loving smile, âyouâre home! wow, you were so quiet i barely heard you come in,â
and when satoru just silently stood at the doorway, his hand covering his mouth, that made [name] get up out of bed in worry.
âhey, are you okay? what happened?â then he saw the way satoruâs broad shoulders shook, rushing over and holding him in his arms in an instant, âwas it the interviewer? are you okay, satoru? talk to me,â satoru only broke down more, making [name] comfortingly rub up and down his back with âshhâs slipping from his mouth every now and then.
âsatoru, are you okay?â [name] worriedly asked, gently pulling him towards the bed and urging him to sit. once the tall man was sat down, he immediately wrapped his arms around him again, hugging him as tight as he could to give him some sort of comfort, âyouâre scaring me, satoru, what happened?â
satoru took a couple of seconds to collect himself, holding onto [name] in his arms as a means of grounding himself. but if anything, it made it worse. he was reminded that [name] was really real and not some figment of his imagination. he wasnât just some âdreamâ guy, he was real and he was his.
[name] was sitting in their bed with him and comforting him lovingly. he was real and satoru never felt as lucky as he did than right now in this moment.
ânothing happened,â satoru breathed out, pulling [name] back from his torso so that he could properly speak to him. âiâm okay, really,â
âsatoru, youâre crying. itâs okay, you can tell me,â [name] said softly, pushing his wet bangs aside and looking into his teary blue eyes, âitâs okay,â
satoru bit his lip, admiring the features of his boyfriend for a couple more seconds. how gentle his touch was, the hand caressing his face only having the lightest featherlike feeling against his skin. how concerned his e/c eyes were, staring into him and understanding him like no one else ever has.
he is so beautiful, satoru thought to himself. he squeezed [name]âs hand that was resting in his lap, making the man look down at their joined fingers.
âsatoru?â
âi just,â he took in a deep breath, âi love you so much, you know that right?â
he almost laughed at the suggestion, but [name] politely nodded instead, âof course i know that, you show me everyday. i love you, too,â
satoru nuzzled his cheek further into [name]âs touch, relishing in the way the manâs warmth fell onto his skin.
âi love you so much, iâd do anything for you,â satoru breathed out, looking past his wet white eyelashes and into [name]âs concern eyes, âiâd do anything, i mean it. i love you so, so, so much [name],â
âsatoru, youâre really scaring me. whatâs going on?â
ânothing bad, i promise. just, please, let me?â satoru begged, voice hoarse and tight as he pleaded with [name]. and with a patient nod coming from the man, he continued on, âyouâve made me so happy, happier than iâve ever been, these past couple of years. you deal with me and my annoying bullshit everyday, you make sure iâm healthy and happy even when youâre so tired. you always take care of me, more than i give you credit for and iâm sorry that iâm so selfish sometimes. but, i promise iâll do better. iâll be better, for you. anything you want me to be, iâll work so hard in becoming, for you. i want to make you as happy as you make me,â satoru gulps, feeling his throat closing up and his tears welling back up, âi love you so much, [name],â
taking in all of his words, [name]âs eyebrows furrowed in confliction. he still didnât know if he should be concerned and worried or just let satoru go on. but then he felt his own eyes well up with tears when he felt how sincere satoru was being. how tight his large hand was holding his own, as if he were afraid that heâd slip away if his grip on him loosened even the slightest.
even when he tried lifting that hand up to wipe his tears away, satoru didnât let him, keeping a steady grip on his hand. instead, his slender fingers came up to the side of his face and wiped the tears away with a calm smile on his face.
âyou make me so happy, [name]. and i'm so happy to be here with you. you make everything worth it,â satoru said softly, âyou love me so gently, so softly â unlike anyone else in my life has. youâre my entire world. i donât know what iâd do without you here. i know iâm meant to stay by your side forever. i know my place in the world is wherever you are.â
there was a pause as now both of them were crying messes.
[name]âs eyes were shut as he tried to wipe his stream of tears away. so he didnât see the way satoru dug through his pocket to take out the velvet box. and he didnât see the way his hands shook as he propped the box to be open, didnât see how nervous satoru looked in the moment of unveiling the ring.
what he did see though was the ring blaringly presenting itself to him and a grinning, crying satoru behind it. he heard the words leave his lips, âletâs stay together forever, okay? please, marry me, [name],â
and [name] didn't react.
not immediately. he was too shocked. his jaw had dropped and he looked between the ring and satoru, who was still happily crying. then, finally, he snapped out of it and enclosed his arms around his boyfriendâs (fianceâs?) neck and sobbed into his skin, âyes, yes, yes,â over and over.
satoru cried more, this time a smile on his face as he cried into the air. he felt the stream of wet tears go down his neck, but he didnât pay them any mind. he only held [name] closer by his waist in a suffocating embrace.
he didnât know if he believed in multiple universes theory, whatever that was, but he just wishes that if it were true: heâd find [name] in every single one. [name] was his one and only comfort in the hectic life that he lives, the one stable root that keeps him grounded.
the two seperated, smiling and laughing with each other as they messily kissed in celebration. when they pulled away, [name] and satoru watched as the latter shakily slipped the ring onto the formerâs ring finger. and the h/c haired man had to cover his mouth once more at the sight. it was slightly loose, running on the bigger side, but it was perfect. he didnât care. it could have been a paper ring and it would have been perfect.
âi love you satoru, so much, you donât understand,â
âi love you more,â the other softly breathes out, staring at [name]âs ringed finger with pride, âmore than youâd ever know.â
the two smiled and laughed at their confessions, joining in another hug as they were high off of their dopamine. wordlessly, satoru collapsed onto the bed with [name] laying on top of him. and as he took the other velvet box out, he tried slipping the ring onto his finger. but it didnât even fit on his ring finger, so he had to work with it on his pinky.
âitâs kind of cute that way,â [name] says in amusement, comparing their hand size and laughing at the difference, âi like it,â
âif you like it that way, we can keep it this size, then,â satoru said simply, kissing the top of [name]âs head.
âwear it however you want to, satoru, itâs your ring,â [name] chides him, looking up to softly glare at him.
âthe ring doesnât mean anything by itself, you're the one that gives it meaning,â satoru says, squeezing [name]âs shoulders to bring him closer, âif you like it on the pinky, it stays on the pinky.â
rolling his eyes and deciding that nothing is going to get through his fianceâs head, [name] gave up on challenging satoru. instead, he cuddled closer into his side and breathed in his faint cologne and natural scent.
âi love you, satoru. my dear fiance,â he said into the fabric of his dress shirt, smiling against satoruâs ribs as he repeated the phrase in his head.
satoru didnât bother biting back his smile as he tilted [name]âs head up to look up at him. he kissed him softly, gently moving their lips against each other in a passionate kiss. and when he pulled away, he made sure to keep eye contact as he said, âi love you more, [name], my dear fiance,â

why do you ship elucien? im not trying to be rude its just genuine curiosity. to me elriel seems to be obviously canon and the author is writing them in a way that you'd genuinely find in romance with a very common misunderstanding trope. there have been so many hints to elriel being canon such as Azriel's mother being from Rosehall and the rose Symbolism with Elain. Given that Elain has shown nothing but contempt for Lucien, I just can't wrap my mind around why people will ship elucien and not elriel which appears to me to be endgame.
I don't mean any hate. I just can't understand why people would set themselves up for failure shipping a noncanon/fanon couple. I see so much in this fandom over the shipwars and wonder why the wars even exist. If elriel is canoon why do eluciens fight so hard against it? shouldnt we all be adults and accept it instead of flinging insults back and forth to each other? Not saying that you are but I see so many people go back and forth with these insults and it gets so annoying i thought we were all adults here. either way i hope you have a good day
Hi Anon! I appreciate the question, and the chance to gush about why I love Elucien.
First, however, let me start by saying anyone can ship anything and anyone they please regardless of canon or endgame. Shipping comes from the heart, itâs a feeling. Many people think of possibilities that two characters could have, or see their chemistry and enjoy it. For others, itâs the angst and connections that they have. A common trope is enemies to lovers, and that doesnât always start off with a lovey dovey spark, but the tension and angst.
I feel that a common belief in fandoms now these days are that ships are only valid if they are canon or not, or, even more so, if they are endgame. A ships validity isnât based off any of these factors, but how you feel about them. Crackships can sometimes evolve from a joke or meme, but then people sit down and actually find they love the idea of them and go onto creating some really awesome things for the ship! Even if it started as a joke, some may derive joy from it.
So you ship Elriel (I am assuming by context) and I ship Elucien. At the end of the day, one of them will be canonically endgame, but that does not mean people canât still ship them. I promise, no matter what the book ends up to be, people will STILL ship who they want to, and thatâs totally fine. Shipping wars have existed forever, genuinely someone will argue that one pair is better suited than their counterpart. I can understand that Elain gave Azriel some charged looks, I can see that she wanted to kiss him, and I understand why some other Elriel shippers like them. To be honest, Iâve shipped many a brooding boy with the sweet, energetic girl. The biggest example is Jin and Xiaoyu from Tekken who finally, after 25 years of teasing and build up became canonical endgame. Then there is Squall and Selphie from FF8, who did not become endgame, but I still ship them and love them.
We can all debate why we think one will be endgame over the other, some can concede and at least understand why people feel that way, others will choose to agree to disagree and stick to their grounds. One of the things I, as an Elucien hate about it is when an Elriel will call me, or my fellow Eluciens delusional for shipping a mated pair. For not seeing that Sarah is setting us up for failure when sheâs played this game before. Girl likes guy, girl thinks sheâs found her home, girl finds another guy whom she avoids who happens to be her mate and fights against fate. Girl spends time with guy she avoided to realize he is her equal, that he is a good male, that together they are a good fit. Girl struggles with her feelings and eventually chooses her mate who lifts her up and the two are happy in love. To be called delusional for seeing such connections and ship a pair that the author herself mated is very annoying. You do not have to agree with me, that is fine, but it does not make my ship any less valid.
Now, as to WHY I like Elucien? There are just⊠WAY too many reasons to list them all and this would be dreadfully long if I list everything. So Iâll name some of my top reasons.
Lucien and Elain are both underestimated. People brush off Lucien as someone who isnât a Highlord, nor illyrian, so obviously heâs not as strong as Rhys as the Inner Circle. Elain is constantly talked down as plain, simple, peaceful and uninteresting. We havenât been able to see Elain use her seer powers since Lucien last tugged on the bond, and with Lucienâs hinted heritage, I think weâre going to see these two show off a different kind of power.
The tension! Thereâs so much tension between Lucien and Elain, tension that we donât have a full picture of. Itâs clear that Elain is fighting against the bond, and Lucien, the man who promised to never love another, is now faced with a mate he believes does not want him. Heâs dealing with the guilt of Jesminda while Elain is avoiding the bond. When both are faced with what the mother gifted them, finding the reason why theyâre mates will be an emotional journey!
Home. People say that Elain belongs in the NC with her family, she even stated it too. However SJM seems to be showing that Elain might be a bit like Feyre in the way Feyre once claimed the SC was her home. There was a line about how the big poofy dress looked ridiculous on Feyre and how at odds she was with the place she once called home, with a man she once said she loved and made love to. The context of the book tells us that Elain is not where sheâs meant to be, in fact, it was said over and over she was made for spring, sheâd love spring, and her mate is currently there. I think these two are going to realize home is not a place, it is a feeling they get when theyâre together.
Their potential. SJM said that Elain surprised both Lucien AND herself! There had to have been something that she saw between them when writing MAF that made her say âYes, Mate these two instantly! Not only that, make it snap now!â Seeing that Elain is a gentle soul and Lucien is someone whose a bit of a smart ass, Iâd love to see these two together. Elain would be the type of person to put him in his place, and Lucien wouldnât baby her either, unlike how everyone else treats her! Their dynamic would be a treat to see on page.
Thereâs so much more to say about them, and I could go on and on! We have tension, and the possible healing and growth that was hinted at, the fact Lucien ventured with Papa A. and Elain was closest to him. Thereâs also the fact that Elain holds hope, she is light and warmth and Lucien who seems so hopeless, could find that in her. Elain craves light and sunshine, Lucien being the heir of Day, to having a blinding white light himself. The way when Lucien interacts with her, her powers activate. Not to mention the similarities between Solas and Cthona, Crescent City deities who are mates and lovers.
So to answer Anon, there are many reasons I love Elucien, and I will continue to ship them long after the series is over. Whether or not theyâre in love right now, before either of them have a book has no bearing on their validity as a ship, or their possibility in their book. I think youâd find it easier to just let people have their ships and enjoy what they wish in peace rather than trying to tell others they can or cannot ship based off what the books tell us right now. Because as we all know from ACOTAR and ACOMAF, it doesnât matter who you love at the start, not when you find home with your mate.

ok you heathens here's the full hopper&steve 'okay dad đ' fic bc y'all liked this post so much
snippet below the cut
âOh, because every girl whoâs into dudes is into you? A little cocky, are we, Harrington?â Eddie grins.
Steve grins even wider, âI dunno, Eddie, you tell me.â
The smile on his face and the way his eyes keep darting to Eddieâs lips tell a pretty overt story of exactly how Steve would like for him to do that, but â
âYour sisterâs in the next room, man, I donâtââ
Steve makes a face.
âObviously weâre not gonna, like, do anything. Thatâd be so fuckinâ weird, but we can just, like, make out a little, I dunno. Thatâs just as good to me.â
And Eddie has to fight the urge to gape at Steve like an idiot because what does he mean making out is as good as sex? Eddie had known Steve was a romantic at heart but Christ alive was Eddie not at all prepared for exactly how revealing this night would be.
âCâmon,â Steve continues, âWhyâd you even come over then?â
Again, Eddie has to fight the urge to argue that point of his, because why did he agree to come over if he really thought nothing was gonna happen? How can he explain that thereâd been a voice in his head urging him to take Steve up on the offer purely for an excuse to spend time â any kind of time â with the guy heâd sworn up and down would only ever be a hook-up.
He canât, obviously.
âFine,â Eddie sighs as he lets Steve pull him up onto the bed. He acts all resigned about it too, like heâs doing Steve a favor even though Eddie would be lying through his damn teeth if he tried to say he disagreed with Steveâs whole thing about making out.
On the contrary, heâs learning these days that thereâs just as much intimacy in kissing as there is in sex â if not much more. Eddie has had his fair share of hook-ups with a partner who refused to kiss him because itâd be taking things too far. Not Steve though. Steveâs got nothing but enthusiasm as he hauls Eddie up onto the bed, one hand slipping under the hem of his t-shirt, the other curving around the back of his neck as he tugs Eddie forward and collides their lips together. No, heâs nothing but alacrity as he licks into Eddieâs mouth, his hands roaming wherever they can reach, and itâs not like Eddieâs not into it, so he has no trouble matching Steveâs enthusiasm, the kiss turning sloppy and wet, and Eddie grabbed low on Steveâs waist, basically the hinge of his thigh, because he knows Steve likes when he does that, and he dislodges the hand Steve has beneath his shirt and pins it above his head because he knows Steve likes that too.
Eddie lets himself get lost in the kiss, in the way Steveâs free hand is tangled up in his hair, and his hips are stuttering up against Eddieâs thigh every now and then, and while Eddieâs not grinding against Steve, per se, theyâve definitely got a rhythm of something going on, and so Eddie really has no idea theyâre being interrupted until someone is shouting, âHey!â and suddenly Eddie is being shoved off of Steve

Hello everything is fine? I would like to make a request to Rhysand
Something where maybe Rhys, the reader, and the rest of the group were on a game night, and the reader and Rhys are obviously always paired up, and they almost always win, but then the rest of the group, maybe in another round , put the reader with someone else? and Rhys stays with Feyre, then the reader is dying of jealousy (the reader and Rhys are partners) and Rhys wins over the reader? But then when someone humiliates the reader, Rhys gets super angry and takes revenge on her?
Game night disaster
Rhysand x Reader
Warnings; angst, swearing.
Masterlist
Night had settled around Velaris and the house of wind couldnât be more alive, it is Friday night and that translates into game night for your family. You were currently sitting on the ground in front of the couch and between your mateâs -Rhysâ legs. Amusement flashed in your eyes as you watched Nesta almost beating Cassian because he couldnât explain the word written on his card making them lose a point. You and Rhys were on fire like usual leaving everyone more than 10 points behind.
âItâs unfair, you two always win. Game nights are becoming awfully boring.â Mor whined pointing at you and Rhys, and everyone nodded in agreement. âThey probably have created a code thatâs how they keep winningâ Cassian exclaimed.
âYeah right, you just canât accept the fact that we are better than youâ Rhys replied to him, his eyes flashing with mischief. He always liked to get under Cassianâs skin.
âI think we should change partnersâ Nesta spoke. You glanced around noticing how everyone seemed to agree so you just shrugged. You didnât like the idea of competing against Rhysand, neither of you could stand losing and you knew that if one of you won and the other lost you would probably spend the rest of the night bickering. You didnât have a choice though because if you disagreed it would look like you were indeed cheating.
Mor placed pieces of paper in a small bowl with all your names written on them and shook it. Then picking piece after piece she announced;
âOkay so Nesta with Azriel, Amren with Elain, Cassian with y/n, me with Lucien and Rhys with Feyreâ
You didnât even have the time to curse about being paired with Cassian who completely sucked at the game as you heard who Rhys was paired with. Not her. You thought. You didnât have anything against Feyre, and deep down you knew that they are just friends, but you couldnât stop thinking how she saved him from Amarantha while you were stuck in Velaris not able to leave the city to help him. He knew what would happen at the party and he warded the house so you couldnât leave with him. You scratching the air between the doorframe and screaming at him to let you out, and him with a sad smile muttering âI love youâ again and again until the darkness swallowed him, only when he was locked under the mountain you were able to exit the house. That was the last memory you had of him before everything that happened. There wasnât a day that you didnât try to exit Velaris to find him, but every time you were pushed back by the wards he placed before leaving. And one day⊠he returned because a human girl saved him, saved everyone. They share the same trauma. They even have a bargaining bond. Losing him to Feyre will always be your biggest fear.
âY/n! Come hereâ Cassianâs voice pulled you out of your thoughts. You noticed that everyone had changed seats, and they were waiting for you to move next to Cassian, you glanced at Feyre who was sitting next to Rhysand on the couch -way too close for your liking. Rhys stretched to give you a kiss as you stood up, but you completely ignored him and crossed the room taking a seat next to Cassian. Rhysâ eyes stayed on you, a hurt expression on his face, you felt his talons caressing the shield around your mind and you added a second layer of adamant wall making him flinch. You could feel the anger slithering around your mating bond, and you shoved your jealousy down before blocking him from there too. Realization hit him and he only rolled his eyes.
Fine. You thought and turned your focus on the game.
Mor and Lucien guessed 4 cards, Amren and Elain 5.
It was your mateâs turn.
Rhys guessed 7 of the cards Feyre was explaining and she jumped on him hugging him tightly and squealing.
Cassian placed his hand on yours pulling your gaze from them, he offered you a comforting smile and gave you the cards, Nesta and Azriel were next and after them it was you and Cassian.
When Feyre removed herself from your mateâs lap, he didnât dare to look at you, he just stared at his hands.
Nesta was able to guess 4 cards and then it was your turn.
âOkay..â you breathed and read the first card.
âFeyre threw this at Rhysâ you started.
âShoeâ Cassian exclaimed, and everyone burst into laughter.
âYou can find this in the winter courtâ âUhm⊠Kalliasâ âItâs whiteâ
âOh I knowâŠsnowâ
âyes yes⊠okay uhm flirty..â âHelionâ
âYES, where are the Archeron sisters fromâ âMortal landsâ âYesss, Lucienâs sexy brotherâ -Lucien choked on his wine. Rhysand scoffed. âEw Erisâ Cassian gagged.
âUhm you and Nesta areâŠâ
âMATESâ âOof okay uhm all Illyrians have themâ âWings?â âNo you wear thoseâ âWeapons?â âNO what else are you wearingâ âTIMEâ Nesta shouted âYou got six so that makes Rhys and Feyre tonightâs winnersâ âLeathersâ you muttered and slapped Cassian on the back of his head.
Lucien clapped and said âTurns out Rhysand is the smart one, I always suspected it no offense y/n but you never seemed bright to meâ
Silence.
You froze. Violet eyes snapped on you, you felt your face heating and your eyes watering.
A low growl filled the silence, power created by the darkest night filled the room making everyone shiver. âSay that againâ Rhysâ voice was lethal, filled with rage and painful promises.
Lucien gulped, his eye wide as he stared at Rhys.
âIf I remember correctly, you only guessed four cards so if six cards mean that y/n isnât bright what does four make you?â Rhysandâs gaze was fixed on Lucien who was squirming on his seat. Everyone was staring wide-eyed, and no one dared to say anything. Rhys was absolutely terrifying especially when he got so mad.
âAnswer me little foxâ If him glaring was terrifying then the feline smile he now had on his face was out of this world. Poor Lucien was shaking.
âRhys enoughâ you stood up and approached your mate. He got up and pushed you behind him.
âIf you even look at her the wrong way, I will fucking scoop your only eye out and I will feed it to you. Now get the fuck out of my courtâ. And with that he pulled you out, his wings emerged from the darkness, and he pulled you in his arms shooting up.
The flight was silent, you didnât know what to say so you decided to let him cool off, everything could wait until you were home.
Once you were in your home you hurried off to your shared bedroom, you needed a moment to pull your thoughts in order. You changed in one of your nightgowns and sat on the bed. You couldnât believe what had happened in the last hours, how could a game night end up like this. With a deep breath you went back downstairs finding Rhys in the living room sitting on the armchair by the fireplace, a glass filled with whiskey in his hand. He was still fuming. You approached him and climbed on his lap nesting your face in his neck. His hand moved to the back of your head, and he started stroking your hair.
âIâm sorryâ he muttered. âWhy?â âI shouldâve removed Feyre from my lapâ he explained and kissed your head. âItâs okay, I shouldnât get jealous of her⊠I know you love meâ you whispered and nuzzled his neck harder. You wanted as much contact as you could get.
âNo itâs not okay, if I saw you on another maleâs lap I would fucking kill him...I will talk to Feyre.â he pulled you further onto him.
âThank you⊠for everythingâ your voice was barely above a whisper as sleep was taking over.
âAnything for you sweetheartâ he whispered leaving a soft kiss on your head.
You woke up the next morning in your bed, Rhys was spooning you, a strong arm around your waist, legs tangled, and a wing draped over you.
I hope you like it. Requests are open.

YOU COULD'VE DIED!
So I had this request and I totally forgot about it and I'm so so so so so so so sorry lol
Pairing: Theodore Nott x fem!reader
Warnings: mentions of weight, anxiety attacks, eating disorder, reader has adhd, not proof read and my writing lol
Request: So the reader a long time ago like when she was eighth/9ish used to be on the bigger side before her adhd meds and then got really skinny and stuff and timeskip to sixth year her meds donât really work aswelll so she starts getting an appetite that was usually suppressed and she quit quidditch last year because of stress and her biggest fear is secretly getting fat again and she starts to have so much anxiety about it
WARNING: I am in no way shaming any one in this text. You are beautiful the way you are. I'm just adhering to the request. I do not agree with anything horrible about weight or anything else you can think of that is in this text.
I'm also really really sorry if you go through eating disorders or something similar to what's mentioned in this text x stay strong xx you're not alone đ
Most people have nightmares about psycho killers in white masks with a knife who are really crazily into fictional movies they try to make it reality. Most people have nightmares about falling from really high cliffs with jagged edges that could rip you in half quicker than the speed of the platform 9Ÿ's train. Most people have nightmares about burning in fires that could kill you probably faster than the Dursleys burnt Harry's hogwarts letters.
But not you. You had nightmares about gaining weight. About being the girl that you were when you were nine. You hated your ADHD but oh those adhd meds really helped you to stop being the obese person you were. You were disgusted by your younger self even though you shouldn't have been.
You sat in the Great Hall processing your nightmare. You knew you had a normal weight, probably even lower than healthy. And yet you looked around at all those pretty girls with effortless hourglass bodies and wished you could look like them. You knew you had a normal weight and yet your dreams, or perhaps nightmares, kept on taunting you about it.
Those thoughts clouded your mind. Filled your head. Over and over. And over. Until you felt like starving yourself. And you'd do that until you fainted and realised it's really unhealthy. But then it'd be too late and this vicious cycle continued until you felt like you couldn't do it anymore. Until you were sick of being yourself. Until you wished you were anyone but yourself. Until y-
"Hey y/n!" Theo greeted you as he entered the Great Hall. He was the first one there. After you of course. He grabbed a vanilla cupcake with strawberry icing and sprinkles for himself and a chocolate cupcake with chocolate icing for you.
"here I got you a chocolate cupcake with chocolate icing. Your favourite." Theo smiled as he passed it on to you.
Even though your heart wanted to accept it, your brain knew better.
"no I'm fine, really! Thanks so much though! I'm full" you replied. as if to reprimand you, your stomach rumbled.
"your stomach disagrees" he chuckled. "go on have it it's fine it's just a cupcake"
You knew he was trying to be a good friend. You knew he was looking out for you at yet it was so hard for you to suppress the urge to scream "just a cupcake? JUST A CUPCAKE?! well, I'll have you know that cupcake contains sugar and butter which stores in your body as fat so you wouldn't even suggest it unless you hated me" you obviously didn't say it out loud. You knew you were overreacting in your head.
"erm no thanks." You politely turned the offer of the cupcake down.
"Ya sure?" He asked one last time.
"yup." You replied.
"alright suit yourself" Blaise said as he leaned across the table to get the cupcake from your side.
You didn't have dinner that night and the couple of nights after either. You knew you should've. But you were so insecure about your weight you just couldn't. So you didn't. And you should've. You really should've.
Unfortunately for you, you realised that too late.

You woke up on a white bed. Where were you? You glanced around. There was no way. You were in a hospital bed. After Theo explained it to you, you realised what had happened. On your way to the dorm you had fainted due to the lack of food. You had no energy left in your body and it finally gave out. Theo had realised you had fainted and had carried you to the Madam Pomfrey's. He looked strangely cross at you.
"T-thanks" you replied to him.
"for what?" He said. "I couldn't save you."
"you kinda did" you said smiling at him.
He pulled something out of his pocket and handed it to you. It was a cookie.
Before you could say no, he cut you off.
"you are eating this cookie right now or I will never forgive myself for letting you starve yourself."
You reluctantly grabbed the cookie.
"you didn't make me starve myself. I did it to myself. It's not your fault." You replied as you broke a piece off the cookie.
"but why?" He asked.
"sorry?"
"why did you starve yourself"
"erm i well i had a nightmare I was gaining weight and I thought I was I had gained half a kilogram since last year and I just thought I'd look ugly and I just didn't want to not be liked by anyone!" there it was. The word vomit. The bundle of feelings inside of you all out to the one person you thought would be disgusted by you if you ever gained weight. The one person you loved.
"Woah! Slow down. No matter how many kilograms you put in you'll never be fat or ugly! I can't believe you let a nightmare lead you on! You can't have an unhealthy relationship with food!" He exclaimed.
"you're just saying that."
"I'm not just saying that. I mean it y/n. From the moment I laid eyes on you, I fell in love with you and a couple kilograms isn't gonna change that." He replied.
"Aw- wait you what?!" You asked realising what he just said.
"I thought it was obvious? I love you y/n. I always have" Theo said. "but I'm still cross at you for not eating food."
"ok ok I'm sorry." You replied.
"YOU COULD'VE DIED!" Pansy exclaimed bursting into the room.
"Jesus Christ Pansy! You almost gave me a heart attack!" You said shocked at her entrance.
But you knew her words were right. And so were Theo's. From that moment you tried to prevent yourself from starving yourself and with the support of Theo and all your friends it was that much more easy.

This Richard Hanania piece was quite good for crystallizing some thoughts I had around the toxic nature of the electoral college. Obviously the electoral college is dumb - it is undemocratic in an arbitrary way, just randomly rewarding certain voters. I think idea of a system empowering "rural voters" would be really bad, but if that is your goal fair enough; it is telling that so many defenders of the EC will do so on grounds like that, but it doesn't do that! It just randomly empowers people in Pennsylvania, agonistic of density of living.
But more than it being undemocratic, it results in pernicious political dynamics - national elections being decided by tiny slivers of voters such that their hobbyhorse topics get undue preference. It twists the policy agenda, yes, but it also twists the parties themselves, who have to exist in its world. As someone who is far more of a Democrat, I think about it in terms of the Democratic Party; but Hanania is right to note it has been far more destructive to the Republican Party. The Republican Party has a much larger "anti-establishment" element that the Democratic party does, and they are concentrated in swing states. As I have said before, there are more Republicans in California than there are in Texas; but the voice of those Republicans doesn't matter. Everything gets bent around catering to that swing state slice. A Republican party staffed by its members in NYC and Los Angeles would still not be my fave party or anything, but it would be far better than the status quo.
The post reminds me of similar things around primaries; the US primaries are currently built very badly. US political parties just aren't democratic institutions, they don't really make sense to be that way and do not function that way, but we sort of pantomime it with this weird, staggered "race to drop out last" that rewards factional posturing over clear governance & electoral agendas. But as annoying as the democrats have been under it, the Republicans have suffered far worse! A complete outsider who disagreed with a third of the party's stated agenda and was deeply unpopular with the median voter exploited razor-thin majority-of-a-majorities in "elections" with maybe 25% voter turnout to seize the nomination twice. These conditions are "unfortunate" in a certain sense, it is bad that a solid ~1/10th of the US population are ride-or-die nativists for whom "immigration" is their only concern and are, to be frank, too poorly informed to understand the policy issues they care so much about. But something like that will always be true; these systems make every election a dice roll to dodge unlucky alignments, and when you hit them your coalition warps to match them and becomes sticky.
Many Republicans will mention these hazy ideas that "without the EC we will never win", and this is the least accurate idea of all. I actually remember a Richard Hanania post I blogged about a long time ago, about how so many Republican ideas are actually very popular and have gotten more popular over time. School choice, parts of immigration, taxes, law & order, etc, are all winning issues. Sans the EC the party woulds shift, as it always had, to a new equilibrium. And I bet you could do it within one term, voters have no long term memory, like at all. If in two years Nikki Haley is campaigning on Compassionate Conservatism and expanded Medicare, she would do just fine.
Ofc the issue now is that the Republican Party - while filled to the brim with hucksters, for sure - are true believers enough that they wouldn't want that. Because the EC alignments are sticky, as mentioned, it is part of why it's so toxic. Which is very sad because, despite probably being a lifelong Democrat voter, I really want a better Republican party. Because they are going to win elections! It is a democracy, of course they will, and they probably "should", I don't want a unipolar state and god knows the Democrats have their own brand of bullshit that electoral defeat has gotta discipline to keep them sane. Even if it means a Republican party that wins more elections, if they are saner it is worth it. They have some good ideas after all, if only they had a chance to breathe.
Since I don't think Republicans will consider it, I do think it is something Dems should pursue harder. But I'll admit the capacity to execute here is bleak - do your best with the State Compact I guess.

Matt Sturniolo x fem!reader
Synopsis: Two roommates finally confess their feelings for each other.
àŒșâàŒ»
Do I really want to be more than just roommates with Matt? I mean weâve been best friends for the 2 years weâve been living together. Weâve made out a couple times while we were drunk but nothing more than that. Plus he would never have feelings for me. Heâs always going for the hot sorority girls with blonde hair and shiny blue eyes. But heâs just so attractive. Iâve always tried to push my feelings for him away but they come back every time. This date was just to try and get over him but obviously that didnât go very well.
I canât confess my feelings to him heâs literally driving me home after getting splashed in the face by some dick who I thought was a good guy. I mean how embarrassing is that?
âWhatâs on your mind hm?â Matt speaks up.
âWhat do you meanâ I say trying to sound confused.
âI mean that Iâve talking to you for the past 5 minutes but all youâve been doing is staring out the windowâ Matt laughs.
âOh sorry I was just thinking about tonightâ I lie.
âDo you wanna talk about it now? We still have like 20 minutes till we get home. Câmon spillâ Matt says, patting my thigh making me blush.
âOk well at first I thought it was gonna be good but the whole car ride there was so awkward and we didnât even speakâ I sigh.
âGo onâ He encourages me.
âThen once we got to the restaurant the first 5 minutes we didnât even say a word. And once we finally started talking we just kept disagreeing on things. We had nothing in common and he just kept making skimpy comments about meâ I say clearly angry.
âWait what do you mean skimpy comments?â He says worried.
âJust stuff like âthat dress hugs you so wellâ and âit makes your boobs look niceâ it was just so uncomfortableâ I mumble.
âWhat a dickâ Matt says.
âIt gets worse. After we were done and we went back to his car. He tried to force himself onto me and kept trying to make out with me. I kept pushing him away but he would call me a brat for not wanting to kiss him. Then when I got out of the car he sped past a puddle that was next to me and completely drenched meâ I say annoyed.
âWoah woah what the fuck did you just say?â Matt suddenly stops the car on the side of the road.
âMatt why did you stopâ I say confused.
âAnswer me y/n what did you just say?â He sternly says.
âThat he kept trying to make out with me even when I kept pushing him away and he would call me a brat or that he ran over a puddle and splashed me?â I question.
âBoth! What the fuck. Iâm gonna beat his fucking assâ Matt angrily says.
âWhat no donât. Look he was a dick but donât start a fight pleaseâ I look up at him grabbing his arm.
âBut he called you a brat y/n and basically assaulted youâ He says.
âMatt itâs fine Iâm with you now. Just donât start shit up alright? This was enough alreadyâ I tell him.
âFine fine. But if he does anything to you I wonât hesitateâ Matt claims.
âWhatever you say Mattâ I laugh.
âHe was right about one thing thoughâ Matt says looking at me deep in the eyes.
âWhat is it?â I ask confused.
âYou do look really pretty in that dressâ Matt quietly speaks. Still looking at me making me nervous.
âYou think so?â I blush.
âI know soâ He smiles.
He just called me pretty. Matt called me pretty what am I meanât to do here? Do I tell him how I feel even though I literally just got out of a terrible date?
âMattâ I whisper as his face is just inches apart from mine.
âYea?â He says cupping my cheek with one of his hands.
âWe canât do thisâ I say looking down.
âWhy not. I see no issueâ Matt answers as he puts his finger under my chin making me look up.
âBut weâre just roommates itâs gonna change everythingâ I mumbled feeling nervous.
âBut what if I donât wanna be just roommates anymore with you?â He nervously confesses.
âMatt I-â He cuts me off smashing his lips onto mine.
I kiss him back immediately. Our lips dancing together. He licks my bottom lip as if asking for permission to be let in. Gladly I part my mouth and his tongue fights with mine causing me to moan into the kiss. Matt smiles against my mouth. As we run out of breath we pull away slowly. Our foreheads rest against each other. His deep blue eyes stare into mine. What the fuck just happened.
âYou know Iâve been wanting to do for a whileâ He chuckles.
âWhat? Really?â I ask not believing him.
âWhyâs it so hard to believe hm?â He smiles.
âWell because youâre always bringing home all these random girls and youâre always hanging with the pretty sorority girls I just assumed you had no interest in meâ I slightly laugh.
âI was with all these girls because I was trying to get rid of my feelings for youâ He says turning to look at the window.
âYou have feelings for me?â I ask in disbelief.
âYes y/n I do. You canât even imagine how I feel for you. All those times Iâve asked you if youâre jealous because I bring girls home, I secretly wish that you say yes. I was hoping that you would not like something about Jason so you wouldnât go out with him again. I thought it was just some silly feelings but truth is, I hate seeing you with other guys. I want you all to myself y/nâ Matt confesses as he looks down embarrassed.
âMatt I umâ No words form. I canât believe it. This whole time I thought he had no interest in me what so over.
âLook Iâm sorry I shouldnât have said that. I shouldnât have kissed you. You just had a bad night I shouldnât have confessed my literal feelings. Iâm sorry we can just forget about it if you wantâ
âMattâ I say as he keeps talking.
âIâm really sorry itâs gonna be so awkward now. I can sleep at my friends house if you want-â
I cut him off my gently placing my lips on his. The kiss is different than the first one. This one is full of passion and warmth. Neither of us fight for dominance, instead we take in the moment. The kiss lasts long neither of us wants to pull away. Until we run out of breath, Matt pulls away.
âAre you crazy Matt? Of course I like you back. I have for so long I just genuinely thought that you only liked me as a friend. This whole date with Jason was just to get you off my mind and to try and lose feelingsâ I tell him holding his hand in mine.
âAlright then how about I take you on a proper date Ms y/n? How does that sound?â He asks.
âIâd like that Mattâ I smile.
âItâs set then. Friday night Iâm taking you out to dinner to the fanciest restaurant I can findâ Mattâs smile grows even more as he looks me deep in the eyes.
âMatt you donât have to do all that. We can literally just watch a movie at home and Iâll be happyâ I laugh.
âAfter whatever happened today with Jason you deserve the world sweetheartâ He chuckles again.
âWell then thank you. Thank for making my night better as wellâ I blush at the nickname.
âAnything for youâ He kisses my cheek and starts the car again driving us both home.
The rest of the ride home I stare out the window with the biggest smile on my face. Matt actually likes me back. Am I dreaming?
Ok idk if this is even good but I tried my best lollll

Lay all your love (on me)
Pairing: Elizabeth Olsen x Fem!Reader
Summary: You get hired to be Elizabethâs love interest in her new movie and nothing could prepare you to how your life would change upon meeting her
Disclaimer: English is not my first language
MASTERLIST
When you got the call that the part on the upcoming rom-com was yours, you could barely believe it. It took you days and actually signing the contract to fully believe that was about to happen - you finally got an important part in a big movie with some big stars. After struggling with your career for years now, that was very refreshing.
You didnât know much about the movie plot at first, just a few bits that were enough for you to know you would be the romantic interest for the protagonist, but that was about it. You didnât know who the protagonist was going to be - you were fairly sure they hadnât hired anyone yet - but that didnât stop you from going out with your friends to celebrate. It was a big moment, something that could really change your career, so you held nothing back to party and have a great time.
Weeks later, you were informed your romantic interest had finally been chosen and you almost yelled from the top of your lungs when the name Elizabeth Olsen was announced. Of course you knew who she was and was so, so, so excited to work with her. As soon as her name was announced, the media started giving the movie much more attention as well and you could barely contain your excitement to get the shooting started. You got to work with a Hollywood star who made several Marvel movies and a very successful TV show, not to mention all of her other works that you were a big fan of. Not only that, but you would play a couple and you couldnât wait until you were finally told the exact day the shooting would start.
You would have to travel to another country, but you werenât too worried about that. London was a nice place to be for a couple of months until you guys wrapped the movie, even if you would live in a hotel for that time being. You even got to the city a day before she had to just to make sure you werenât jet-legged before going to the set for the first time. The only thing that slightly worried you a bit was that the director had forego a table reading for the entire cast, which meant you guys would only meet on the first day of working together, something that didnât always work out the right way.
Even so, on the first day you had to be on the set, you woke up super early to be able to have a nice breakfast and get ready, and then you called for a cab to take you to where the shooting was going to happen. Most people had no idea who you were yet, but an assistant was waiting for you to take you to the director for a quick chat before going to hair and make-up. You knew the director already - since he was obviously there for your audition - although that didnât make you any less nervous to be standing in front of him while the man talked about what was expected of you. He gave you a brief explanation of your character and how you should behave when the cameras were rolling, then you talked about the first scene you would shoot.
âWeâre only going to need you after lunch since weâre shooting a few other things this morning with Ms Olsen and other characters,â he explained. âBut be here around two and weâre getting started, okay?â
You could only nod along because you would never be stupid enough to disagree with someone who had been working in the industry since before you were born. âIs there anything specific I need to do for the scene? I read the script that was sent to me, but-â
âOh, shit,â the director interrupted you with a grunt. âBella, did we send her the new shooting schedule?â Upon seeing your panicked face and the assistant blank stare, he only sighed and shook his head. âFine, then we have something for you to work on. We changed the scenes weâre shooting today because one of the actors had a problem with their agenda. My assistant here will give you the new part weâre doing today, so youâll have new things to memorize.â
And thatâs how your nerves got a thousand times worse.
You had been beating yourself up for weeks, putting a lot of pressure on your shoulders to do an impeccable job, to not screw over your big opportunity and, especially, to make a good first impression. You trained your lines in front of mirrors and with a close friend several times, and now suddenly things had changed and you didnât feel like you had enough time to work on the new scene for it to be as good as you wanted it to be. However, once again, you didnât try to tell other people how to do their job. You just accepted the new script and locked yourself with the make-up department to study the pages while they did their work.
It took you very little time to realize what scene you were supposed to be doing that day. On your very first day, nonetheless. It was a scene where your character and Elizabethâs character held a small conversation before kissing. You were going to be kissing Elizabeth Olsen that day and you were not even a little bit prepared for that.
âYou seem nervous, honey,â one of the oldest ladies in the room said when her assistant walked off to grab something.
You hadnât noticed you were bouncing your leg until she pointed it out, but, once you did, you quickly froze and, with wide eyes and blushing cheeks, looked at her. âIâm not.â
âEverything is going to be fine,â she said with a low chuckle, clearly not believing in you.
âYes, butâŠâ You took a deep breath and let your eyes go through the pages again. âThis is big, you know? And Iâm not. I canât screw this over.â After looking up again, you saw the way the woman was looking through her make-up kit to find something and it made you bite your lip as if you were waiting for it to be another failure of your day. âI wish I had bumped into her in the hallways or something.â
Thankfully, the make-up artist found what she was looking for and went back to her work. âWho are you shooting with?â
She was apparently used to having people freaking out on her chair and she was nice enough, kind and gentle, so you had no problem venting out to her a little bit. âElizabeth.â
âOh!â A wide smile turned the womanâs lips up. âShe was here earlier today, obviously! Sheâs a gem!â
âReally?â
âYes! Really nice person, you really have nothing to worry about!â
You hesitated for a second, looked at the scene written on the paper again, and then sighed. âEven if we have to kiss and we never even saw each other before?â
Well, the kind lady didnât have anything helpful to say about that and you were left with silence once her assistant returned to the room. After your make-up was done, you had an early lunch break, and you ate alone inside a room while glossing over the script like a hawk. The more time went by, the more nervous you got, to the point you were starting to feel the beginning of an anxiety attack coming to bite you in the ass. That would certainly be way worse - way worse - so you decided to take a break for real and take a walk around the studio to think about anything else.
You had half an hour before having to go to the dressing room, so you walked slowly outside, enjoying the not so warm day out while taking calm breaths. You were walking for maybe ten minutes when you saw someone walking over beside an assistant and under an umbrella towards the door. Probably returning from a lunch break herself was Elizabeth Olsen, who didnât seem to notice you as she walked. That was a perfect opportunity to pick up with her, introduce yourself and make things less weird once you two were standing in front of a camera, but you were too far away and the only way to reach her in time was to run towards her, which was even worse.
So, with a bit of dread in your heart, you watched her going inside and disappearing from your line of sight, and you were once again hit with the thoughts from before. You werenât actually starstruck or something like that because you were professional and could get your job done, but the fear of somehow ruining things in front of Elizabeth made things worse. She had years of experience in big roles and she was the face of the movie, the protagonist. You couldnât screw things up on your first scene.
Obsessing over it again, you went to the dressing department while chewing a mint, and popped another two before heading out, both out of nerves and because you were afraid you might have bad breath when you were supposed to be kissing someone. It wasnât actually kissing, of course, but that would be bad. Very bad.
By the time the director called you for another talk, you had already dried your palms at least five times on the nice pants the wardrobe people gave you. He had a few things to point out, some tips and other requests for you, and you listened attentively. So attentively indeed that you didnât notice when Elizabeth walked on set as well.
You were shooting inside a room that was supposed to look like a cafe and you had your backs turned to it, entirely missing the other actress walking behind you to talk to someone else. Once your eyes caught her, though, you felt your heart skipping a beat before skyrocketing inside your chest. You didnât have the opportunity to be that close to her before, but, now that you had, you couldnât help but take in all the details. From the clothes her character was going to wear, to the light make-up she had on, to the way her hair was falling in soft waves down her back.
Your first thought was that she looked beautiful, but that wasnât exactly news. You had eyes, you knew who Elizabeth Olsen was before, and you knew she was beautiful. Although, seeing it up close, was certainly a whole new experience. The first thing that crossed your mind was how your imagination really tricked you into thinking she was much shorter than she was, though she was wearing high heels and you werenât. Your clothes were plainly different since you were wearing jeans, a t-shirt and sneakers, while Elizabeth was wearing a ridiculously short skirt and what you assumed was a crop top besides the heels, of course.
You almost rolled your eyes at that because the director was really trying to make it clear that those characters were opposites - just like the cliche that the opposites attract or something similarly cheesy.
Noticing you got distracted by something, the director followed your eyes and quickly spotted Elizabeth, then saying something that made your heart beat even faster than before. âElizabeth, come here please.â
You barely had the time to prepare yourself. You tried to discreetly run a hand through your hair, although you thought better about it when you remembered you didnât have time to go back to hair and make-up, and also held yourself higher with a sudden perfect posture. If anyone else noticed it, no one said a thing, for which you were grateful.
âYou know each other, right?â The director asked once Elizabeth stopped in front of you two, but he didnât give you enough time to answer before starting to ramble about where he wanted you to stand, and what you should do, and when to tell certain things.
You kept stealing glances at the blonde woman in front of you, feeling your face getting warmer and warmer, though there wasnât much you could do about it. The conversation ended with the director saying you had five minutes before the shooting started and then walking away to talk with someone else, and you didnât have much of a choice but to follow one of his assistant leads to find your place to be on set. Elizabeth seemed more familiar with things and people already, and she easily sat down at one of the chairs to wait for things to get moving.
Before you realize it, someone is making you sit across from her at the table, and your nerves hit you with full force all at once. âH-Hi. So, uh, this is not weird at all, huh?â
And, as usual, you used humor as a defense mechanism.
Luckily, it did the trick because Elizabeth actually smiled at you, even if it was mostly just polite. âY/N, right?â She asked, though she obviously knew it was you by now. Even so, you nodded to let her know she was right. âNice to meet you. Iâm sorry we couldnât meet before, but I just got here from where I was shooting my last job. They wanted to do a table reading, but I couldnât make it and we were already on a tight schedule.â
Well, that explained some of the rush people seemed to be in. You couldnât blame her for having a busy agenda, of course, even if that certainly didnât help with your anxiety. You still offered her a gentle smile and waved a hand. âThatâs okay. I mean, not ideal, but okay. I suppose there were worse scenes for us to shoot after literally knowing each other for five minutes,â you joked.
Elizabeth understood what you meant and chuckled - a low, deep sound that made your insides twist a bit and you just knew you would have to work extra hard to end up that job without a new crush on someone that was way out of your league.
You didnât have time to dwell on that for long because the director soon asked everyone to be on their marks and, a couple of minutes later, he was yelling âaction!â.
You did the best you could at that moment. Not your best, but the best you could. You were nervous, you were shaking a bit and your mind was running faster thinking about the kiss you would have to give Elizabeth later on the scene. Were the mints you ate enough? You brushed your teeth twice, but maybe you shouldâve done it once more just to be sure. And you didnât even have the time to discuss with Elizabeth how the kiss would play out. You would like to know if she had any boundaries she wouldnât like you to cross or what to do with your hands. And, oh God, your palms were sweaty again, you couldnât just put them on her face.
The first takes were a disaster. The director seemed so disappointed that you could barely look at him, but he was also looking pissed the more he had to cut a scene. The problem wasnât even your lines since you hit them all at the right time, but it was hard to ignore that Elizabeth and you didnât seem to have any chemistry. You were still weird around each other, albeit you would have to admit Elizabeth was doing most of the job while you were silently freaking out across from her.
It was a very frustrating two hours before the director decided to go for the kiss. You couldnât help but wonder if that was his last try before giving up completely, something that you were sure once he decided to call it a day after the first and only kiss you shared with Elizabeth on screen. While you were moping on your chair, you noticed that he called Elizabeth into a corner and they were talking at each other in whispers, and you could swear you saw eyes snapping at you every once in a while, which only made things worse.
You felt like you had already ruined everything. The thing you were most afraid of, and you managed to do just that. No more opportunities in your career because you just proved to a very important director and a well-known actress that you couldnât do your job.
Jesus fuck.
You left the set faster than anyone could stop you. You knew you were the one to blame for the terrible work you did that day and you wanted a few minutes alone to mop and collect yourself before someone knocked on the door to fire you. You didnât have trailers though and you werenât sure if there were any free rooms, so you ended up in hair and make-up again, thinking that you could at least remove it all before crying and ruining your mascara.
âHow was it, honey?â
You almost jumped out of your skin when you heard the make-up artistâs voice coming from a corner of the room since you hadnât noticed she was there, but you soon relaxed when you saw her kind smile directed at you. You couldnât bring yourself to lie, not really, and maybe talking with someone would prepare you not to cry when you got fired for real, so thatâs what you did.
âIt was terrible,â you admitted sadly. âI ruined everything. We donât have chemistry. Like, none at all. Iâm waiting for someone to stop by to fire me right now.â
âFire you? What for?â
She looked genuinely confused by it. âWell, itâs just, you know⊠Theyâre not going to fire her. Sheâs Elizabeth Olsen. Sheâs the reason why so many streaming platforms tried to buy this movie. They will realize they can find someone better to be her romantic interest. Maybe Aubrey Plaza, since they already did a movie together. They know each other, it will be easier for them.â
âSo you think things could be fixed if you knew her better?â
âI donât know.â You shrugged and totally missed the way the woman rolled her eyes at you while you sat down. She was finding it all amusing, even if you were on the verge of crying for ruining your career.
âYou met today, didnât you?â The woman asked and waited for you to nod. âMaybe thatâs the problem. You just met.â
You thought about it for a moment, allowing her to start removing your make-up for you even if that wasnât exactly her job, a frown permanently on your face. âYouâre saying I should get to know her better.â
âOf course! Donât worry too much, honey. It was the first day. Theyâre not going to fire you on the first day.â
That made sense. Now that someone else pointed it out, you could see that it was very unlikely that they would fire you after one day of shooting. Yes, it wasnât great and they didnât have much time to wait for you to catch up, but that only meant you had to be fast to fix things. You didnât want to lose that gig and you certainly didnât want to allow people to think you were bad at what you did. You were just nervous. Overly nervous because of your anxiety, thatâs all. It was your first big job, you were meeting some important people, the schedule got changed last minute, and you shouldnât have drank three cups of coffee in the morning, for sure.
You could still fix this.
You just needed to be fast.
âIâm bringing you donuts tomorrow!â You promised as you ran out of the room minutes later, but you didnât wait for a reply - nor did you add that you would do that if you didnât get fired.
Your optimism was back and you wasted no time to go find one of the assistants to ask what time you should be there tomorrow - just to be sure you were expected to be there tomorrow - and then you set on your mission to go find Elizabeth. You had no idea what to say or what you needed, but you knew you had to find her to, at the very least, try to change her perception of you.
You were lucky enough to find her alone looking at her phone while she seemingly waited for someone to show up in the hallway where she was standing, so you quickly walked towards Elizabeth and displayed your best smile - now much more relaxed and less nervous. âHey, good I found you here!â
Green eyes - so damn green, you thought - looked up at you and Elizabeth put her phone away before crossing her arms and waiting for you to stop in front of her. âHello.â
âI wanted to apologize for today,â you started and gave her no time to interrupt. âI know that was mostly my fault, well, all my fault actually.â You let out a self-deprecating chuckle as you raised a hand to scratch the back of your neck. âIâm sorry, I admit I was a bit nervous. I mean, we met literally minutes before having to shoot together. Iâm not used to that.â You dropped your hand and, without realizing it, started to move them around while you talked. âWeâre going to shoot that scene again tomorrow and I was thinking that maybe we should get to know each other so things donât go as weird as they went today.â
Okay, Elizabethâs eyes were very green. They were so light! And her nose was so cute, slightly turned up. And no one should be allowed to have such perfectly shaped lips like that, it should be a crime, really.
You got lost in your thoughts, you realized, and it made your cheeks go red so fast that you let out an awkward cough just to have an excuse to bring your hand to your face to try to cover it a bit. âWell, I was thinking that maybe you would like to go out with me today.â
That was not what you wanted to say. At all. Oh, fuck.
Elizabethâs reaction would have been priceless if you werenât the idiot standing in front of her. Her eyes widened, she took a step back, and her own face went pink. It all happened so fast that it took you a moment to recover as well.
âIt's not like a date date,â you quickly said, desperately trying to fix what you did. âI mean, we will have dinner, talk, hang out for a bit, but it doesn't have to be romantic. I mean, it's not romantic!â You corrected, waving your hands around and standing there with your eyes almost falling from your face, and your heart beating way too fast again. Well, so much for trying to save your job. Now you were going to be let down under the accusation of sexual harassment or something like that. You didnât know if keeping talking was a good or a bad idea, but you couldnât bring yourself to stop either. âI just thought it might help us lose up a little bit, you know? Get more comfortable around each other. Our first scene together was a very⊠deep kiss, we didn't have much time to talk before that.â
Elizabeth didnât say anything at first, but she also didnât look as surprised as before, so you would count that as a small victory. You waited for her to say something while changing your weight from one leg to the other, hands awkwardly crossed in front of you while also trying not to stare at her for too long. It was the way you were incapable of not being a gay mess that got you in that situation, after all.
âSoâŠâ The other woman started eventually and you felt your breath getting stuck in your throat as you waited for the verdict. âLike a dinner?â
âYes,â you agreed way too fast, just for you then realize it would be better if you acted a bit more like it wasnât just dinner with a stranger. âAnd no. If you donât mind, I think that acting just a little bit like it's a date might help. I could open the doors for example.â Just after you said that, you realized how dumb it sounded. You placed both hands on your waist and took a deep breath. âI will stop talking now before I dig myself a bigger hole,â you mumbled shyly.
Yes, you were now getting fired.
You would have to pray not to have the police knocking on your door either.
God, you really shouldâve gone to college like your family wanted you to.
âI don't dislike your idea, but we donât have much time,â Elizabeth took pity on you, apparently, which you werenât sure was a good thing. âWe have more scenes together to shoot tomorrow.â
Way quicker than you should, you exclaimed: âWe can go out tonight!â And, after hearing how eager you sounded, you were fast to add: âIf you want.â
Elizabeth didnât look so certain that it was a good idea indeed, and you pretended not to see when she glanced at you from head to toe because it would only make you blush again - you feared your face would never return to its natural color if you kept blushing like that. âOk,â the other woman conceded finally.
It was your turn to express how surprised you were by that answer. âWait, really? Okay! Yeah, great!â You were rambling and, once again, you couldnât stop. âJust spectacular!â Just spectacular? Really? You had nothing better to say? Could you keep yourself from oversharing things, please? âI will, uh, go now.â And now you were stuttering as well, good. âJust, uh, I will wait for you or I will meet you at the parking lot orâŠ?â You trailed off, now sure you should just stop talking altogether.
âI would like to go back to the place I'm staying to change, if you don't mind,â Elizabeth said.
You wasted no time to nod eagerly at her. âOf course not! Thatâs perfect.â Yes, because you needed to return the clothes to the dressing department and having a shower also sounded nice. You could back to your hotel and pick something better to wear. It also gave you some time to find out where you could take her. âI can, uh, pick you up if you wish and then we can, hm, go.â
Now Elizabeth grinned at you stumbling over the words and her eyes glanced down for a moment - just enough for you to feel like you could breathe again. âSounds nice. I have your phone from the group chat they put us in today. I will send you my location when I get there,â she promised.
You sighed in relief, not even trying to hide it. âSure, sure. Okay.â The rambling was back. âYes. Perfect.â
âYes, spectacular,â Elizabeth replied with a slight teasing in her tone that made you relax instantly.
You chuckled mostly at your own awkwardness and then shook your head. âOkay, now I will go.â You pointed over your shoulder with your thumb and saw the blonde woman smile. âSee you later.â
Soon - very soon - you came to the conclusion that you were insane.
There was no other explanation, really, because you really asked Elizabeth Olsen to have dinner with you. And then you proceeded to run over your mouth and say it was kind of like a date, but not a real date. You should also not forget that you not only made a fool of yourself - twice in the same day, you might add - but you also managed to make things worse than they were before.
You were certain you would be fired by the end of the week.
But that was the exact thought that made you find enough courage to keep going with your plan. There was no way you could make things worse, you were at least sure of that. So you could keep up with your initial thoughts to get to know her a little better. You might get out of that with a friend, after all.
Also, the idea of having dinner with Elizabeth was a good one. You loved her work and you could spend some time gushing about how amazing she was - something you were sure you would find no problem in doing.
With your mind set to make it all worth it, you tried to find a nice restaurant on your way to the hotel. You tried to use your phone, but your mind was racing too much and you couldnât comprehend the several reviews from different restaurants online. You read all of them, but no word actually stuck and you barely even understood the restaurantâs names to start with.
âHey,â you decided to say, leaning over between the seats to get closer to your driver. He seemed like a nice guy, he hadnât tried to talk to you yet and he put on a nice playlist, so you considered it was safe to ask him. âDo you know any good restaurants in town?â
âDepends. What do you want to eat? And whatâs the occasion?â
You left his car with three options in your mind, which was great because you could call them and ask if they would take your reservation. The driver told you the name of another restaurant just before he took off, having leaned on his window to be heard by you, and you raised your thumbs at him in thanks before entering the hotel. You and Elizabeth didnât say what time you would pick her up, therefore you decided not to take too long to get ready. You showered pretty quickly and chose your clothes after just a few minutes of debating with yourself, and then you grabbed your phone to make some calls.
Two of the restaurants didnât even pick up the call and you wondered if they were even working that night, and the third one said they didnât have any free tables. Luck started to smile at you when you called the fourth place the driver had said and they gladly told you they would be waiting for you at any time you decided to drop by. Relieved, you decided to check their name just to be sure you wouldnât be taking Elizabeth to a food truck around the block. It seemed like a nice enough place, just a small French bistro that you were sure would do just great.
Elizabeth reached out about two hours after you got into your hotel room and you couldnât say you werenât surprised that she was still on board with that. You were half expecting her to either text you saying she couldnât make it or just disappear all night, but you were glad to see that wasnât the case. After calling for another cab, you took one last look in the mirror to make sure you were looking somewhat good enough, and then you left to meet her.
The address she sent you wasnât from a hotel and you soon found yourself in front of a building. You texted her to let her know you were there and, after asking the driver to wait for a minute, you exited the vehicle to wait for Elizabeth outside. She didnât take too long to appear, opening the door and stepping out distractedly, although she immediately caught your attention.
Elizabeth was wearing a simple dark green shirt that clung to her skin perfectly and a black tiered skirt that went down to her ankles. Around her waist, a black belt complemented the look along with the high heels that you werenât surprised to see. Her hair was pretty much the same as you had seen earlier that day, but she clearly put on some effort to do her make-up, topping it all with red lipstick that made your brain shut for a while.
You were all of a sudden feeling undressed, though you couldnât imagine having anything in your wardrobe that would get even close to that.
âWow,â you breathed out once she spotted you and started walking towards you. âYou look⊠gorgeous.
âOh, thank you.â You noticed a blush rising from her neck to her cheeks and how she raised a hand to put her hair behind her ear and you just smiled at the cute scene.
Holy crap, you didnât even know someone could be so beautiful.
Noticing you were staring at her again, you shook your head and pointed to the car waiting for you two. âRight, so, we should, uh, go.â
The drive to the restaurant took a while and you tried to keep the conversation light because the driver could hear you two talking and it would do no good. Elizabeth kept her replies short, but she shot back you a few questions - mostly about your career and how you got into acting. She admitted not knowing much about you before they called her to be the protagonist of the current movie you were working on, but you didnât mind about that. She seemed interested enough to learn now and thatâs all that mattered. Things still felt a bit awkward, but you were going to blame that on the fact that you had to watch your words since you werenât alone.
âI hope you donât mind the place,â you told her after stepping out of the car. The bistro behind you was even smaller than you initially thought and it looked mostly empty, which made you start rethinking your decision to take Elizabeth there. âBut I was told they have an amazing menu.â
âIt looks nice,â Elizabeth replied with a small smile.
You motioned for her to walk first but, before she could open the door of the restaurant, you remembered what you said before and took large steps to beat her to it - which would certainly look ridiculous to someone looking from outside, but there wasnât much you could do. You opened the door for her and waved your hand dramatically to indicate the way to the other woman. Elizabeth arched one eyebrow before chuckling softly and walking inside the bistro. She paused to wait for you to do the same and you were blessed with a smile when you looked at her again.
Before you could say anything, though, someone approached you to take you both to your table. After you were sitting, you allowed yourself a moment to just look around the bistro, noticing the small details and the cozy environment while Elizabeth looked over the wine charter to pick something. It was a nice place indeed, especially where you were sitting by one of the corners since you asked for privacy, and you almost wished you had tipped the driver better for that only.
âI wanted to apologize,â you said after you placed your order minutes later. Elizabeth looked at you in confusion, so you jumped to explain. âI feel like I might have made you uncomfortable with my rambling earlier. This isnât a date and Iâm sorry if I made it sound like it was. I tend to make jokes when Iâm nervous, but they donât always come outâŠâ you nodded while trying to think about the right way to phrase it, âas I wish they did.â
âYou didnât make me uncomfortable, donât worry,â Elizabeth told you calmly. âI understood where you were trying to get and what you were trying to say. Like I said, I donât think this is a horrible idea. It can actually help us out.â
âYes, thatâs another thing I want to apologize for.â You scratched the back of your neck and grimaced. âI kind of ruined the shooting today.â
âYou werenât the only one there, you know?â She offered with a shrug. âLike I said, getting to know each other will help us out. Besides, weâre going to work together for two months, so I guess this is a good start.â
âEven if I put my foot in my mouth?â You wondered, although now you were feeling relaxed enough to feel all your anxiety leave your body at once. It was like you could finally be yourself without the constant fear of doing or saying something wrong.
âLetâs see how the night goes,â Elizabeth joked and you both shared a laugh at that.
Things after that went pretty well.
The wine got there before the food and you both drank while talking about work at first. It was an easy topic, sharing fun stories and anecdotes that made the other laugh, but it soon wandered away from it. You both started talking about family, friends, hobbies, dreams, plans for the future and, before you realized it, you were animatedly chatting, laughing and gesticulating as if you had never once felt nervous around Elizabeth before.
She had a cute laugh that made you want to keep saying silly things to hear it again, and an easy smile that made your heart skip a beat, and green eyes that made you never want to look away, and her voice was so smooth that you wished you could hear her for hours and hours. She was funny, but she was also smart. She talked with passion about her works, about gardening, about her family, about the books she liked to read, and about everything she loved.
Halfway through dinner, you realized you wished it was a date.
It wasnât surprising because you knew yourself enough to know it might end up happening - Elizabeth was, after all, a very beautiful and interesting woman - but that didnât mean it made things easier. You were there to forge a friendship with her so you could work together, not to fancy her somehow. Elizabeth was also way out of your league, you couldnât even bring yourself to dream about anything else happening.
The conversation was happening so smoothly that neither of you realized the restaurant was about to close until one of the waitresses politely told you she would have to collect the plates, but that you could finish off the wine bottle before leaving. That was the second bottle you shared and you were feeling just too happy already, so you declined to drink the rest of it. You were sure you werenât drunk from the alcohol but from the great time you were having, but it was better safe than sorry. Elizabeth ended up saying she wouldnât drink it either and you decided to call it a night to allow the employees to go home instead of having to work in a mostly empty restaurant.
You called for a cab once you were outside, thankfully managing to make a car stop in front of you pretty fast, and then you opened up the back door for Elizabeth to enter. You slid behind her, telling her address to the driver, and then you kept talking silently until the car parked in front of her building. You got out first and reached out with one hand to help Elizabeth get out as well before walking her to the door.
âI had a great time,â Elizabeth said as she turned around to face you.
âSo did I,â you smiled. âI donât think I laughed this hard in a long time.â
Her giggle reached your ears, which brought you such a gleeful feeling that you just knew was not a good sign. âMe neither,â she admitted.
When you tell that story years down the road, you would blame the way Elizabeth smiled at you and the way the light made her shine like something from another world for what you said next - though you knew it was just your large mouth speaking before your brain could process the words again. âSo, if I wanted to take you out on a date date, would I stand any chance?â
Elizabeth looked at you for a long time before finally replying. âWell, you certainly left a good impression tonight.â She hesitated before talking again. âI would say it made me wish it was a real date. Just a little bit,â she added with a hint of humor, holding her index finger and her thumb just a few inches apart from each other.
You laughed - mostly out of relief - and nodded. âDo you think, well, do you think you have free time later this week? I would love to take you out again.â
âI think we can make that work,â was her answer and, honestly, thatâs all you needed to be sure you made the right choice that day.
The director barely recognized you two working together on the screen the next day, so much so that he pulled you both to the side to congratulate you on your performance. You said it was all Elizabeth, but she only rolled her eyes at you and hit your hibs with her elbow before you both shared a laugh. You had your first official date that same Friday at the same bistro, albeit you ordered different dishes this time.
You were officially dating a month later and, by the time you wrapped the movie, there was already some gossip going around about you two. Both Elizabeth and you decided to ignore it and not address it for a while since they were harmless gossip - not to mention that it did wonderful things to the movieâs advertising.
A year later, though, you walked holding hands at the movie premier and you couldnât bring yourself to care that you were celebrating your first year together promoting the movie that made you meet the love of your life.

‷ i hope this was to your liking :( itâs my first time trying hurt/comfort but this was nice to write so thank you for requesting
did i get emotional writing this? yes because i related to this a lil tee much đ€
ÂĄ requests: open !
Everyone could see the love seeping out of you for Niki. You knew what you were getting into the moment you felt these feelings starting to rise.
They were only getting stronger and stronger day by day, it was hard trying to not spill out a monologue to him on what was stirring inside of you.
But lately, you realized how out of reach he is. Noticing all the beautiful fair skinned girlies surround him caused you to spend time staring at your own reflection. You started to softly touch your cheeks and hair, furrowing your eyebrows at the thought of him not wanting to date someone like you.
You rubbed your face tiredly as you walked out your bathroom and into your dorm room.
âHey yn! Hope you donât mind that I used your spare key..â
You jumped at the sound of his voice, holding your chest before going to hit him with your pillow. âNiki! You shouldâve at least texted me, someone couldâve seen you, you know!â and in response he just rolled his eyes playfully.
âHow was your fansign today?â you asked as you got up to grab some clothes he left over to change in knowing his current clothes were too hot. You didnât notice him staring at your every movement before he hummed to himself.
âTiring⊠but it was funny! Heeseung-â he then proceeded to go into detail about everything that went down. You gave him reassuring hums and smiles to let him know youâre still listening even with you back turned.
You eventually felt your heart drop at a mention of a fan. âAnd there was a pretty engene today! She was so charming and funny, definitely had a way with her wordsâ he chuckled lightly to himself.
Biting the inside of your cheek, now you know you definitely canât confess anything to him.
âYou must be tired, yea? Are you staying the night?â
He frowned slightly, âCanât, I have practice all day tomorrow so you probably wonât hear from me.â You sighed and gave him a reassuring smile.
âThatâs fine, text me when you're free, âkay?â and he nodded. You walked him to the door and gave him a big hug finding comfort in the warmth radiating off of him. He softly kissed your forehead before letting go, causing you to stare in awe.
âSee you later pretty!â he cheekily stated before closing the door. Oh boy, you were in trouble, the pounding of your heart being living proof of it.
That night you tossed and turned, missing having his head on your chest through the night. You gave up trying to sleep and went to twitter, the bright screen causing you to squint a bit to adjust. Scrolling mindlessly on twitter until you came across a tweet that had your eyes watering a little.
âNiki wouldnât date a black girl in my opinion, he probably also likes experienced girls too!â
Hurriedly, you look through the comments to see people agreeing with her. Yea a few comments were disagreeing but that didnât make you feel better. You honestly felt sick to your stomach.
You sat up quickly to read more. âHe definitely doesn't like them clingy, he enjoys personal space.â Thatâs how you found yourself going through a loophole on twitter feeling even more shitty about yourself.
Why did it have to be like this? Was that how he really feels? You know you could ask him, I mean heâs literally your best friend! But you felt too embarrassed to even ask him how he felt dating girls like you. Did he believe the stereotypes surrounding black girls?
Your heart started to ache. You already felt self conscious about your skin, but this just made you feel 10x shittier. You got up to stare at yourself again. Eyes tearing up as you start to wish your hair weren't so kinky and how you would love to have long blonde hair or blue eyes. Wishing you werenât so different.
That night you went to bed with a heavy heart.
The next morning you saw Niki messages but you were still hurting and decided to avoid him. You can't handle looking at him or speaking to him knowing youâll break down in front of him.
Niki on the other hand was worried that the forehead kiss is why youâre so distant. He could barely concentrate at practice. The boys noticed it, giving him concerned glances.
âGood work today boys! Niki youâre normally on your A-game but today you were so off. Work harder okay? Get some rest everyone, see you tomorrow,â the dance coach let out.
Niki was too spaced out to even care about what he had to say. He was in a rush to see you. He needed to make sure he didnât break any boundaries. He couldnât lose you like this, he thought to himself as he rushed out the dance studio.
He knew it was risky to be at your dorm without any disguise but he pushed it to the back of his mind as soon as he saw your door come into view.
Knocking anxiously but you didnât move an inch. Not wanting to get bothered right now as you cuddle up with your blanket and comfort cartoon show playing in the background.
Niki checked his pockets hoping he brought the spare key with him.
Sighing in relief, he quietly opened your door. Your dimly lit up living room welcomed him in as he closed the door softly. He could already tell something was wrong as he recognized your comfort show playing which made him even more anxious.
âYnâŠcan we talk?â
Your saddened eyes turned to look at him and he felt like he was shot in the heart seeing you look like this. He cautiously sat on your bed as he heard the soft sobs echo through the room.
âI just wish I could be what you wanted, Niki. You are so close but so out of reach from me. If I was pale skinned would it be different, I wonder? Would you feel less ashamed knowing I fit in with you?â
Niki pulled you closer to him, rocking back and forth. âIs that why you've been ignoring me? Because of those stupid opinionated comments?â
âYn, I liked you for you. I love how we are different from each other. Being able to learn from you and see things from your point of view helped me grow as a person. It helped me learn to love you.â
Your head shot up, scanning his face to see if you heard wrong. âYn you didnât hear wrong, i meant it.â
âYouâre so beautiful to me and I want you to allow me to show you thatâ Niki finished up.
Eyes tearing up as you sense his sincerity, you pushed your forehead against his. âSorry for making you worry.. I was already embarrassed.â
He rubbed you back comfortingly, âDonât be embarrassed, youâre allowed to feel like this, just communicate with me, yea?â and you nodded in agreement.
You looked up at him and saw his eyes flicker to your lips, âcan i?â he asked. You smiled and leaned your forehead against his again feeling his soft lips fit with your perfectly.
Sighing in content, he leaned back and you two stayed like that for the night. Holding on so dearly as if you might vanish in thin air.
