In Life, In Death.
Enver Gortash x F Reader.
Warnings: Unhealthy relationships, obsessive behavior, imbalanced power dynamics, manipulation and brief mentions of blood. Word count: 2k.
Control.
In all its variations, this word is what you associate most with the tyrant hiding in plain sight — Lord Enver Gortash.
If it’s an art form, then he’s a virtuoso. The invisible score he weaves needn’t hypnotize the listener, no, they are drawn in willingly. Lured by innocuous and diabolical plans, shackled into place by unchecked ambition. Though they may feel unique in their role, to him, they’re little notes that shall fall silent once the page is turned.
The full vision behind the overture is unknown to even you. From the snippets you’ve overheard, it leaves a sinister impression. Discordant harmonies promise a dark future.
You thought you’d find satisfaction in stilling his tongue. You dreamt of the day, yearned for it, like a bride one night away from walking down the aisle. From your current vantage point, you should be seconds away from fully realizing this goal. The control he exudes over himself and others can’t be infallible. Nothing is.
If the gods can bleed, then so can he.
If the gods can die, then so can he.
If your fellow man can kill, then so can you.
“One thing’s for certain, dearest,” he comments, his tongue unfettered as ever, “Our evenings together are never dull.”
Contrary to your wishes, it’s you who is rendered speechless.
You are hovering above him, the long skirt of the nicest dress you own rising to accommodate the uncomfortable position. Beneath you lies a man whose dark eyes inspire more trepidation across your features than what’s reflected in his own. A perfect politician’s smile accentuates the bags beneath them. The brief struggle — if it can even be described as such — has left his hair more tousled than usual. It’s splayed out against the wooden floorboards of his study.
When he speaks, his Adam’s apple rises dangerously close to the blade kissing his skin. This is made riskier by how shaky the implement is in your hands.
“Breathe, darling,” he instructs, stoking your frustration. Only he would have the audacity to make commands of the person holding him at knifepoint. “You’re seconds shy from passing out in a nervous fit. That would be counterproductive to your designs, I take it?”
Your nostrils flare. “You want to enter the afterlife making insufferable quips?”
He considers you for a long moment.
“The delay’s left me with little else to do.”
“‘Delay,’” you scoff. Your grip around the hilt tightens. “A self-important egoist to the end.”
“You’ve made up your mind, then?”
“Long ago.”
“Hm,” he hums, the low sound resonating in his chest. “I wonder about that. Fantasizing over my death in your head is a far cry from enacting it out yourself.”
Your eyes narrow into slits. You want to dismiss this as a petty taunt, but you both know that isn’t the case. It’s why his tone lacks condescension — he’s pointing out a fact. Everything is hitting you simultaneously like you’re being doused in an icy pale of water. The soft smile on his face, the steady rise and fall of his chest, how level-minded he remains despite what should be a looming threat.
Then there’s you.
Sweat beading down your temples, your breathing erratic and your stomach twisting into knots. You’re acutely aware that outside the heavy mahogany doors stands a legion of Banite fanatics. Some disguised as Flaming Fists, the others choosing not to bother. At Gortash’s command, they’d have no difficulty subduing you. The agonies that’d await afterward… you shake your head, willing the thought from your mind.
Your eyes flicker to the two golden chalices sitting atop his desk. Wanting to build up courage, you downed most of yours, whereas he nursed his. In retrospect, your uncharacteristic indulgence should’ve warned him that something was off. He, playing the kindly host, always offered a vintage bottle during your tête-à-têtes. You rarely took him up on the offer. Alcohol dulls the senses, which you need to keep razor-sharp in his presence.
“... You saw this coming, didn’t you?”
Gortash exhales sharply, his eyes gleaming with entertainment. “I expected some form of retaliation. I am the reason your less clever co-conspirators are idling away in the dungeons instead of scurrying about.”
This makes you bristle.
“They’re my friends, not ‘co-conspirators,’” you hiss, leaning down to glare at him closer. “And they’ve done nothing to earn such a… a… ridiculous sentence! Libel? Treason? Sedition, of all things? What’s next? Blasphemy?”
“It could be arranged.”
“Bastard,” you growl.
“It’s a jest, dear, a simple jest,” he takes a deep breath when you apply pressure to his solar plexus. His eyebrows pinch together from the pain and he coughs. He strains to speak again, though his cadence is unsettlingly calm. “My girl, there’s a great deal in this world you’re ignorant to. Ironic though it may sound now, there was dissatisfaction over your pacifism. Dissatisfaction that almost gave way to drastic measures.”
Gortash takes your silence as reason to continue. “The Dark Lord and I are in agreement upon your value. The same cannot be said regarding your… compatriots. They lack your finesse — your practicality. Their single-minded pursuit of ‘justice’ had them poking their nose where it doesn’t belong. I can’t abide by such behavior.”
You grit your teeth. “Then you should’ve come to me, so I could resolve the problem.”
His response is immediate, requiring no forethought.
“You’re soft-hearted. Charitable where you should be strict. Why else would they feel emboldened enough to act against your wishes?”
“I…!”
He speaks your name, effectively silencing you.
“Answer me this,” his eyes bely a certain intensity that has you swallowing thickly. “How would you see this city become the shining utopia you long so desperately for it to be? Free of poverty, corruption, and injustice?”
“That’s never the standard I’ve aspired for,” you reply. “If it was, I never would’ve swallowed my pride and worked alongside you. Progress comes in increments. The ills that plague Baldur’s Gate aren’t chronic, the proper alms can lessen the symptoms. Righting the city’s massive wealth disparity is where I’d start.”
He smiles at you, his eyes creasing with fondness. “My dear, the rich would sooner surrender their souls than their wealth. It’s intrinsic. When faced with outside pressure, they will exert their own, and it will hurt.”
“I’m aware of the risks.”
“Are you, though?” He challenges. His voice grates your ears like a drunkard’s warbling. “Your resolve is commendable — I’ll give you that. I have no doubt you’re every ounce of the bleeding heart you present yourself to be. And therein lies the issue. You can’t quell dissent with a slap on the wrist. The bones are better broken, so the hand can never rise against you again.”
You roll your eyes. “Spoken like a true tyrant.”
“Is tyranny so terrible?” Gortash cranes his neck upward, forcing you to move your weapon back, lest it break skin. “When I assume the role of Archduke, I won’t inflict suffering for suffering’s sake. The common folk, when left to their own devices, scramble about like livestock; beholden to superfluous pursuits and preyed on with ease. A little order would serve them well.”
This song and dance rings familiar.
In undermining his political aspirations, you found your paths crossing more than you would’ve preferred. It’s these ‘coincidental’ meetings that bore what he labels an alliance. You call it a temporary truce. Funds found themselves in the coffers of almshouses, orphanages, and other charitable programs in exchange for your cooperation. Cooperation being loosely defined as a more subtle subterfuge.
You wet your lips. When did your mouth go so dry?
“... Truthfully, I’ve never understood why you let a thorn such as myself remain in your side. These aims of yours would’ve been achieved easier with my death.”
Outside, a bell tolls, revealing the time to be six in the evening. The window pane behind his desk barely muffles the sound of city life. There’s the clank of metal meeting metal and the thumps of arrows finding their targets as the Flaming Fist train. Children can be heard advertising the latest installment of Baldur's Mouth Gazette. A fellow bard strums his lyre and recounts daring tales from Avernus.
It’s for these folk that you’ve toiled endlessly. You’ve always held the belief that one can rise beyond the circumstances of their birth, so long as they have the resources available to them. It’s a matter of where they get those resources. Amidst the Mistress of the Revels’ enclave, like you, from the Nine Fingers, or worse, among The Dead Three. The options are infinite yet few are good.
“The answer’s identical to the doubt plaguing you know — ‘what if I’m offing the lesser evil?’”
Swifter than you can comprehend, his gauntleted hand seizes your wrist. Before a spell can leave your lips, he brings the blade closer, allowing it to nick his skin. Your eyes widen as droplets of crimson gather and trickle down his neck. The setting sun’s rays reflect against the silver weapon, nearly blinding you. When your eyes readjust, you find something about his expression different. Heavier.
“I’ve seen to it that in the event of my death, no harm would befall you,” he speaks without wincing, despite the blade’s tip penetrating his skin. “My estate, research, and Steel Watch; they’d be yours. Whatever painfully altruistic means you put them to are at your discretion.”
It feels like the air’s been forcefully squeezed from your body. “A bold lie.”
“In my desk’s bottom-most right drawer, you’ll find a copy of my will proving the opposite.”
“To what end?” The question comes out breathless. “You’d throw away your life’s work to— to prove a point?”
He chuckles darkly. “My girl, your ignorance is as endearing as it is perplexing. You can’t see it? The fascination I hold for you that’d drive me to such extremes? My blatant favoritism?”
Gortash’s grip around your wrist tightens.
“A death by these untarnished hands… I’d claim what remains of your innocence for myself. A prize worth the price of admission into the afterlife.”
Your head aches, throbbing like your brain itself is being squeezed. You break out into a cold sweat. Favoritism? Is that what this is? Can such debauchery align with the word? It’s painfully obvious now; the amusement your indecision provides him. That, along with someone else. Something foreign. A sweet concept that most spend entire lifetimes chasing, twisted into an omen.
He says your name with enough reverence to stir envy among the divine.
“What shall it be, darling? My ironclad rule or your fleeting paradise?”
“...”
Your hand falls limp.
You wordlessly move to accommodate as he props himself up. Gortash cleans the blood off your knife with a handkerchief. Next, his ornamented fingers find the hair loosened from your updo during the struggle, tucking the stray pieces behind your ear. The interaction feels like it lasts a lifetime. Warily, you eye the weapon in his non-dominant hand. There’s still a chance that this is a ploy, meant to humiliate you in a final violent act.
As if sensing your thoughts, he raises an eyebrow. “Out of consideration for our partnership, I’ve never done you any harm, have I?”
“Physical harm is but a single category,” you murmur, the words notably sluggish.
“True enough,” is his blasé response. He holds his palm open, as if expecting you to relinquish something. When you remain still, he sternly utters your name. “Give me your hand.”
You obey his command.
The gold metal forming his claw-like gauntlet is cold against your skin. He closely scrutinizes your hand, manipulating it so he catches every angle. This dedication reminds you of when he’s tinkering with a new invention. The mental notes he takes, how he maps out dimensions and improvements for future iterations. It could be paranoia, but you swear he studies your ring finger with special interest.
Slowly, while looking you straight in the eye, he presses an open-mouthed kiss against the bruise forming on your wrist.
“Now that that’s settled… was there anything else on your agenda for the evening?”

Muse
You are his muse, his everything, the sole obsession he refuses to release.
(yandere theme, unhealthy obsession) 1,1k words
Stray kids masterlist here
Your insights and reactions make these posts come alive. Love reblogs, comments, and all the good vibes welcome ✨
The red paint dripped onto the floor, staining it a vibrant hue. The brush in his hand and the grin on his face made the room feel claustrophobic. The paintings of you hung on the walls, some of them scattered on the floor. It was a room full of art, but all of it was about you. This was his art room, and it was full of you. Were you supposed to be happy? Or were you in danger? Never before have you felt such intense fear and danger, leaving you paralyzed as you gaze at him, seemingly unfazed and eerily calm, as if this were just another mundane occurrence for him. Indeed, he views his obsession for you as an obligation, an integral part of his existence. Hwang Hyunjin was one of the artists you admired most. You had even joined his class, and he had always been kind and charming towards you. But you never knew he could be this obsessive. You felt trapped, suffocated by his love.
Was it love? Or was it something much darker? Hwang Hyunjin was a talented artist, and his work was breathtaking. But seeing him standing in front of you, surrounded by his canvases and art supplies, filled you with dread. You regretted agreeing to come to his special class. This wasn't what you had expected at all. As you looked around the room, you noticed paintings of you hanging on the walls. He had painted you while you were sleeping. You felt violated, your privacy invaded. "You came?" Hyunjin asked, his voice dripping with obsession. "Do you like my art room? All of this is painted by me. I even decorated the room based on your favorites. You love plants, right? You have so many of them in your room too." Hyunjin's soft voice sounded different now. "This is my favorite place in this house, because it's full of you," he said.
You had admired his art before, but now you saw it for what it was: a manifestation of his unhealthy obsession with you. "Oh, look, that plant is also in your bedroom." He gestures toward your favorite plant in your room, a cherished possession that you've never displayed or shared with anyone. Yet, he knows it's there, positioned in the exact same vase, as if he meticulously replicated every detail. The real question is how he knows every single detail of your life that you’ve never shared with anyone. Hwang Hyunjin loves to draw. He loves the way his brush dances across the canvas, creating beautiful works of art. He loves all things beautiful, but what he loves most is you. You are the reason he keeps drawing. He never would have reached this level of skill without you. You came into his life when he was at his lowest, and you mesmerized him. You stole his attention and his heart. When you tell him how much you love his art, the way your eyes sparkle and your attention is glued to his work, he feels happier than he can explain.
He dedicates all of his skill to you, as evidenced by the paintings of you that adorn his room. Hyunjin wanted you to know that you were his top priority in the world. It seemed so unreal, but he had believed it from the first time he had laid his eyes on you. You were born to be his. "The man you spoke to yesterday talked too much to you. I don't like that he doesn't know anything about art. I know everything about art, and I know everything about you. Don't talk to him." He placed his brush down, his hands stained with paint. His angelic smile never faded, but who would believe that he could be this insane? "You're crazy," you said, your voice slipping into a whisper. He laughed, as if your words were the best joke he had ever heard. "I know, right?" You stepped back, avoiding getting too close to him.
He believed that he was doing this for your own good, keeping an eye on you to make sure you were away from bad people. He thought you deserved someone better, and he was determined to fulfill all of your interests and hobbies. He was the only one who could do that for you. He was terrified. The thought of you being away from him filled him with dread. He couldn't imagine his life without you. He needed you to survive. That's why he had invited you into his life. You were his muse, his everything. You made everything so easy for him. You came to him without him having to put in any effort. It meant that you wanted him as much as he wanted you, didn't it? When you are about to run to the door, he gets there first, closes it, and locks it. You felt your heart race as you heard his laughter.
It was crazy, and it made your heart want to fall out of your chest. "You know I always prepare everything perfectly," he said, his voice filled with happiness. "Especially for a special occasion like this." The room he had dedicated to you was perfect, and now you were in it too, making it even more perfect. He had always imagined this moment, and he knew you would react like this. The moment you felt his breath behind your ears, his presence close to yours, you felt like you were falling into nothingness. Like his paint falling to the ground. If you had known how dangerous he was, you would have stayed far away from him. But his angelic face had blinded you. You had walked into his trap, and now you were his joy. You were his muse, and he had you now. "I wouldn't hurt you, my muse, my love, my everything," he whispered. "Don't be afraid."
But his words were a lie. Everything that slipped from his beautiful mouth sounded like a lie. You could imagine every worst-case scenario with him in your life. You could imagine him stabbing you slowly, bleeding you dry. There would be no more happiness. You would slowly forget about freedom. He doesn't need to follow you all the time, being angry at unimportant people who try to get close to you, or stalking you. His top priority is you, and only you. All he wants is for you to understand them, even if it means making you remember by force. He knows that you're his, even if you don't want to be. And he doesn't need your opinion anyway. He laughed. He knew it. He was aware that he didn't act normal. He was obsessed with you, and he knew it. You didn't even need to remind him. After all, that was who he was. And he thought he was on the right path. It led him to you, and that made him comfortable. Yes, you're right. If he's a monster, he's your monster. He belongs to you.

ik the draw of snoldemort is that it's as delicious and healthy as fibreglass-riddled cotton candy but have you ever considered them being happy?
yes, all the fucking time.
i am genuinely of the opinion that snape and voldemort are each other's most plausible romantic pairing, and while i sustain that opinion mostly thought the power of being delusional, i do think there's a legitimate grain of potential for snapemort to actually be strangely wholesome.
and so, since this is not the first request I've had for such a thing...
...here comes the snapemort manifesto.
i am also of the opinion that the series presents an extremely narrow and unhealthy definition of love - love as suffering and sacrifice and secrecy - which voldemort can't allow himself to experience because his life has unsurprisingly made him unwilling to suffer or sacrifice and which snape forces himself to experience to the clear detriment of his physical and mental health.
but love is also - fundamentally - about comfort and pleasure and not being bored in someone's company.
the canonical voldemort clearly actually likes snape. he also clearly enjoys spending a substantial amount of time alone with him - especially in deathly hallows: voldemort teaches snape how to fly unaided [the only death eater he seems to do this for], which is canon proof they were going on lots of romantic midnight swoopings; snape is obviously voldemort's source for the information that tonks and lupin have recently married, which means they're gossiping over glasses of wine just as much as they're planning to take over the ministry of magic; voldemort visits snape at hogwarts while he's headmaster, and while that's to steal the elder wand, he does say that he'll join snape once his grave-robbing is done...
the two are clearly intellectually compatible - not simply in terms of level of intelligence but in how that intelligence manifests itself. snape has a very voldemort-ish view of magic as something whose boundaries can constantly be pushed and whose authorities must constantly be challenged - that magic is really about power [and those too weak to seek it] - and it's clear in canon that dumbledore's unease about allowing him near the defence against the dark arts job prior to half-blood prince [when snape agreeing to kill him - and revealing how his love-as-suffering for lily drives him - finally convinces him that snape has rejected the dark side entirely] is because he fears snape's way of understanding magic, since it reminds him of voldemort [and - in reminding him of voldemort - reminds him of grindelwald].
but snape and voldemort's intellectual compatibility has something underpinning it which goes beyond how they understand magic and its purpose in the world. they think the way they do about magic because of the similarities in their life experience.
as harry walks to the forest, he sets himself, snape, and voldemort up as a trio - the "abandoned boys", whose lives have all been shaped, to varying extents, by dumbledore. but, while harry and voldemort are each other's narrative mirror - due both to the overtly mystical pseudo-fraternal [or, if you're so inclined, soulmate] connection which voldemort establishes between them by making harry a horcrux, and to their shared experience of orphanhood - harry actually has much less in common with either half of snapemort than they have in common with each other.
for example, while they're all half-bloods, harry's pureblood parent is his father - which gives him a wizarding name, and the social cachet this brings in a world which is so obsessed with blood, family, and male lineage. snape and voldemort have muggle fathers and muggle names, and this gives them a radically different social standing - even if they are, ostensibly, within the same blood-category - to harry.
similarly, while lily is muggleborn, she is still a witch, attends hogwarts, is known and liked within wizarding society, and - like many muggleborns seem to - separates herself entirely from the world of her birth in young adulthood to live in a way indistinguishable from someone born and raised in a magical family.
tom riddle sr. and tobias snape are actual muggles - which means they exist in a world completely divided [and with that division scrupulously maintained by the ministry] from the magical one. while snape is brought up by his birth family and voldemort isn't, their lives are still dictated by their fathers' experiences of, fear of, and disconnection from magic - and this shapes their lives very differently even than harry's experiences with the dursleys.
harry also heavily resembles his pureblood father, which provides similar social cachet. one device which canon uses a lot is the idea that every member of a pureblood nuclear family unit looks alike - narcissa malfoy is blonde and pale, while her sisters are dark-haired, so that she is immediately identifiable as lucius malfoy's wife and draco malfoy's mother; molly weasley is red-haired and freckly, even though these are weasley, rather than prewett, traits, for the same reason.
in having harry look so much like james - while its primary intention in doing this was clearly to help obscure lily's role in the series' central mystery for as long as possible - the text allows him to smooth his path through the wizarding world because he looks like a pureblood, like someone who is understood to belong in the society through which he moves.
voldemort, in contrast, looks exactly like his muggle father. which parent snape resembles is more ambiguous - in deathly hallows, harry says that snape "greatly resembled" his mother, but both order of the phoenix and half-blood prince suggest this isn't the case, and the person he resembles is his father. this makes more sense, since snape resembling tobias means that he - like voldemort - lacks the visual connection to the wizarding world which would - like a pureblood surname - ease his way of belonging within it.
snape and voldemort are also from the same working-class background and have the same experience of childhood poverty. harry - no matter the financial aspect of the dursleys' neglect of him - is still middle-class in the muggle world by virtue of being raised in a place like little whinging by people like vernon and petunia.
and - crucially - harry's financial circumstances and class-status change utterly when he enters the wizarding world. he ascends to being upper-middle-class; he has the resources to buy everything needed for school new - meaning there's no visual distinction between him and his wealthy peers caused by him having, as voldemort does, secondhand possessions; he is able to treat these possessions casually; and he never, ever worries about being able to afford them [when his nimbus is smashed by the whomping willow, he's upset because he liked the broom so much and because he's embarrassed by the circumstances in which it was damaged, he doesn't worry one bit about not being able to afford a new one - he also considers buying himself a firebolt and, of all the things the one sirius buys means to him, it never seems to seriously cross his mind that it's a stupendously expensive thing for a teenager to own].
harry's class ascendance once he enters the wizarding world also gives him access to the ways of connection and network-forming which dictate how magical society runs. while much of this is voldemort's fault - since it's bound up in the fact that harry is a celebrity - it's also evident that this isn't entirely the case. slughorn's attitude towards harry is influenced just as much by his fondness for lily - and the clear reading of canon is that, if harry was the average hogwarts student and james and lily were still alive, harry would be "collected" for the slug club in the way that cormac mclaggen or regulus black are: people that slughorn wants to keep around in case they offer him something, not people he wants to keep around so that he can manipulate and control them.
voldemort and snape, in contrast, exist outside the social networks which govern wizarding society by virtue of their birth [hence why voldemort sets up a parallel social order - with him at the top - among his followers].
voldemort plays the game the way he's expected to while at school - sucking up to slughorn; leaning in to being, as he puts it, "poor but brilliant" - and then rejects a lifetime of being dependent on slughorn's patronage [he could be minister for magic, but only "if you keep sending me pineapple"!] for the only job he can get on his own merits.
snape rejects the idea of playing the game while at school - the teen snape we meet in order of the phoenix is conspicuous in his difference, not only in appearance but in behaviour, from his peers, and the marauders' bullying of him is motivated just as much by his existence outside wizarding social norms as it is by james' sexual jealousy of his friendship with lily and his own deliberate provocation of james and sirius.
and he also rejects the social convention the series values [by which i mean, the series thinks the class system is good as long as the good guys are the ones insisting on maintaining it] in young adulthood. i bang on about this a lot, but it's clear in canon that the reason snape becomes a death eater - and also the reason why he thinks the death eaters will help lily, even though this initially appears to be nonsensical - is because voldemort offers him a chance to transcend the limitations placed upon him in a world with such a restrictive class system. voldemort is the only person who offers him the things he desires - power, respect, recognition - in a context in which his background is [seemingly] irrelevant.
there's an element of snape seeing what he wants to see here, of course. he's clearly voldemort's exception in terms of social class [just as bellatrix is his exception in terms of gender], and this is a grooming technique on voldemort's part which sets snape apart from the other death eaters and makes him more dependent on maintaining voldemort's favour than men like lucius malfoy or rodolphus and rabastan lestrange, who are inherent insiders to the elite male social circle from which the majority of the dark lord's minions are drawn.
but there is also an element of recognition in voldemort choosing snape which has a heavy blast of affection - platonic or otherwise - behind it.
one of the things which dumbledore gets wrong about voldemort throughout the six books in which he appears is that he believes that voldemort is secretive to the point of repression about his origins, childhood, and life experiences. instead, the canonical voldemort is a certified yapper - he needs virtually no prompting, as a child with dumbledore, a teen with harry, or an adult with harry, to start talking about his life in a way which gives quite a lot about himself away. the proto-death eaters we meet in half-blood prince know all about the teen voldemort's search for his lineage. barty crouch jr. knows his birth name. lucius malfoy is completely unbothered to hear harry state that he's a half-blood.
and this shouldn't surprise us - what orphan wouldn't be on a desperate quest to be perceived, to be understood?
snape is clearly one of voldemort's great favourites because he's someone the dark lord implicitly understands - a clever, awkward, lonely boy searching for respect and power which the stagnant wizarding world refuses to give him. it stands to reason, then, that snape is also one of voldemort's great favourites because the dark lord thinks that snape can understand him.
and, in a situation where he's actually given a chance to offer voldemort this understanding, snape therefore has the power to give the dark lord the thing he's been searching for his entire life - someone who knows who he really is behind the elaborate mask of unassailable majesty and loves him anyway.
none of this has to change the future - voldemort can still be a terrorist who kills his wife guy's only childhood friend, the snapemort will slap nonetheless.
but it still can.

I liked OFMD and I'm sad it's not getting renewed, but I agree that the fandom was especially toxic, even by the standards of currently popular slash-heavy fandoms. I wanted to read fic after s1 ended the way it did, and I read a little bit, but along with it having all the tropes that I can't stand in a lot of what is currently big with the MSF crowd (and that I'd been happy to have a reprieve from in my current main M/M fandom), the toxicity of the online fandom discourse made me quickly realize it was one that I was going to discuss among my current-friends-from-other-fandoms who also watched it, and my sister who watches it, and pretty much ignore the rest of the Internet. It was such a perfect storm of everything awful, from people who are overly invested in it to an unhealthy degree (I think I realized I wasn't gonna be active in the larger fandom around a month or so before the s2 renewal announcement, when I saw earnest PSA tweets telling people to "stop threatening suicide in HBO's replies if they don't renew OFMD"), to bombarding and parasocial obsessions with the creators and actors, to all the classic "anti" and purity police crap that plagues anything that gets popular on here.
The fandom it reminds me the most of, honestly, is Yuri on Ice fandom at its peak in early-mid 2017. Again, a show I love, but a fandom I absolutely do not miss. In some ways they are kind of similar shows: ones with canon M/M romances where they were not billed as that, and they were hinted from early on but people didn't trust it due to years of dealing with queerbaiting, where that sort of thing slowly crept up on people and then became the defining feature of how it was discussed everywhere. I wonder if there's a particular level of insanity that that type of thing breeds in its fans - or maybe, more broadly, "canon M/M with a large female fanbase." Like, you don't see this kind of thing in canon M/M stuff that's mostly watched by queer men rather than women, but there are shades of the insanity I also remember from Glee fandom (I was more active on the F/F side of things there, which had its own unhinged drama, but the Klaine vs. anti-Klaine stuff was so explosive that it was hard not to notice it if you were anywhere in that fandom, like a mushroom cloud in the distance). But YOI and OFMD do seem very... singular in the particular kind of obsession that they generate.
And I really wish people would shape the fuck up, because if they're going to act like this over and over again, that's just going to de-incentivize showrunners to make shows like this for that audience.
Driving Con O'Neill off Twitter was one of the worst parts of it, too. There was something so refreshingly earnest about how much he embraced the fandom, even the weirdest parts - saying with regard to NSFW fanart that "art is art" and retweeting stuff like his character in a crop-top that said "babygirl." It was so nice to see an actor who didn't usually have that kind of following embrace it wholeheartedly rather than steering clear. ....And then people had to be awful and creepy and obsessive and he left Twitter. I bet he's going to be a lot more skeptical of dealing with fans in the future!
--
It's not just the canon m/m aspect: it's the wholesomeness.
Yes, yes, they're all evil pirates, I agree, but watching S1 did give me the feeling of something that was supposed to be very progressive and light-hearted in particular ways. I don't think that's bad, but it does tend to attract some very over-sensitive fans with some very rigid expectations.
It's sadly par for the course that one of the random side character actors is the fun one and people are jackasses and desperately want the leads they ship to be the fandomy ones and/or just start creeping on any actor they can get a reaction from.

The Bad Batch Finale - Thoughts and Thanks
Before I get into spoiler territory, I want to say the most sincere "thank you" I've ever mustered to this fandom.
I've been in fan spaces before, going back almost 15 years - most of that on Tumblr, to boot. I've been in inactive fandoms, small fandoms, big fandoms and "we're watching new episodes together in real time" fandoms ...
And none of them have ever given this sense of community and support. Ever.
There really is something special about The Clone Wars/Bad Batch fans, even within the Prequel lovers or Star Wars fans in general that breeds this kind of sentiment. It's truly unique and I found it at a time in my life when I was the most isolated physically from my support network and struggling to make new friends and connections IRL.
I cannot express in words just how much you all saved me with your validation and support.
The Shades of Blue series was the first fanfic I actually felt comfortable leaving a comment for on Tumblr, and the amazing @the-rain-on-kamino's kind and loving reaction gave me the courage to start writing fanfiction again. Not only that, but actually sharing it for the first time in years.
And after that, everyone else came in one at a time. From @deejadabbles and @sev-on-kamino's delightful, rabid and enabling reactions to my unhinged thots, to @wings-and-beskar supporting my unhealthy Wrecker obsession, to @l-lend being an absolute example of how to engage and interact in fan spaces to make room for everyone, to @wild-karrde, our bastion of supportive engagement and creative celebration (and a kickass writer in her own right) ... you all helped me come out of my shell in ways I can't express in words besides thank you.
@dystopicjumpsuit, @freesia-writes. @anxiouspineapple99, @dickarchivist, @wizardofrozz @523rdrebel
@starrylothcat @starqueensthings @the-bad-batch-baroness @multi-fan-dom-madnessand @moonlightwarriorqueen
You all have listened to my rambles, thoughts, and vent sessions - whether about fandom stuff or not - and I hope I've been able to return a fraction of that support.
@daimyosprincess, girl you get a whole special shoutout for the levels of depravity you encourage my thots to get to :D
And there are so many more!! People I may not talk to frequently (cause sending DMs gives me anxiety), but I see you commenting, liking, reblogging when I post and posting your own amazing writing or art for me to moon over.
@cyarbika, @madameminor, @spacemagicandlaserswords @merkitty49 @vodika-vibes
@kimiheartblade @nika6q @arcsimper5
@soaringthroughthegalaxy @sunshinesdaydream @sinfulsalutations and so so many more.
THANK YOU ALL FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART
I'll still be around simping after our favorite clones. I hope you'll keep joining me.
Now, on to the spoilers!
I have to say overall, I like this conclusion. It's the happy ending we wanted, but if feels earned. I love that the boys got to grow old in peace with Omega. I love that their dedication to one another is reaffirmed and upheld as the strength it is, rather than - as Hemlock saw it - a weakness to exploit. And I loved that last little scene. It felt like a fanfic and I say that lovingly. It felt like the writers and animators put together the fic we all know would have happened if they left the ending on that fadeout of the Batch next to the tree on Pabu. And that felt like a kiss on the forehead as a fan.
Now here's what I didn't like.
I didn't like that they clearly rushed the end. Pacing wise, there were so many moments that were slowed down so you can feel the emotional impact ... but the editing of the scenes around them made this slower pace a mistake to me.
Like when Echo and Omega are sending Emerie and the kids away ... they all hug and take time to talk about their plan. BUT YOU DON'T HAVE TIME. We know Hemlock has the others. We know Tarkin is on his way. YOU DO NOT HAVE TIME FOR THIS SCENE TO HAPPEN HERE and Echo of all people would be on that, moving everyone along as he is trained to do. It feels artificial because we go from high intensity and fast paced to slow and dragging when nothing from the fast paced scene had been resolved. I think this could have been different if the scene with the kids in the hanger came before the Batch gets in to the hanger and knocked out. It would be a break from the fast pace of the Zillo escape, but without the immediate urgency of a rescue weighing over them (and us! I was having heart palpitations!). It also would then match the tone and sentiment of the scene between Hunter, Wrecker and Crosshair in the woods ("Omega needs all of us.").
These pacing issues are editing issues, and I think we're really seeing how post-production was truncated to get this out on time (or possible pre-production and storyboarding was truncated). I hate that production studios are making this practice more common to cut costs. We will wait longer for better quality storytelling.
My final example of this is Crosshair's story resolution. It doesn't happen. He still thinks he deserves to die on Tantiss (the sentiment from S3 Ep1) and even though Hunter and Wrecker tell him otherwise, we don't know if he internalizes that. And his climax is about trusting Omega to know what to do to take the shot. But Crosshair has (in this season) shown he always trusts Omega. It would have been better if his hand was still shaking and Hunter said "Omega trusts you. You'll make this shot." so that the external conflict for Crosshair is resolved by resolving his internal conflict and trusting himself as his family does. And it would leave Hunter's climax the same - trusting Omega as an competent member of the team.
It just feels rushed. Or like an abstract painting that almost looks like a real object, but just a little blurry. They almost stuck a perfect landing, but just missed the mark a bit.
I also hate how this means Wrecker gets fuck all resolution. The entire last episode was a really intriguing challenge for him. He knows Cross is off his game and Hunter is getting desperate and reckless again ... just as he is almost entirely knocked out of the fight from an injury. Him, the strong one. That should have been a great moment of growth for him. That he doesn't keep going because he always can -- which is very much how he comes across in TCW S7 and TBB S1 -- but that he actively makes himself the strong one, the supportive one, because that's what his family needs.
But no, we didn't get that. We didn't get any insight into Wrecker at all, despite him being the one to free his brothers enough for them to save Omega (and he saved Echo, too!). And then he doesn't speak again, though we see how banged up he is. I get it was less of a focus throughout the series, but man they didn't need to sideline my husband like that.
And finally, Tech.
Look, I may be delulu, but contextually, there was plenty of evidence that CX-2 was Tech. From speech and mannerisms to his blatant disregard for orders, to the seemingly personal level he took his missions.
But it's more than that - why show us this big tense moment of him breaking onto Phee's ship, which the focus being on Phee sensing him near? Why not just have that in the dialog with Hemlock the way Cid's confession was? That would have saved so much time that could have been put elsewhere. Why have such a focus on him in the marketing?
I'm not mad that Tech is dead. Let me make that clear. The showrunners said from the start they killed Tech to prove there are real, lasting consequences to characters' decisions. And I can respect that. And I can understand and appreciate the interpretation that CX-2 wasn't meant to rep Tech, but rather what the Empire can turn clones into, a threat to them all not just in the danger CX-2 poses, but the danger if they get caught.
And that's fair ... but then it could (and should have) been any and every CX trooper to fit that bill. There was no need to waste time and attention on one in particular.
And to be, that also ignores the clear wall of contextual and subtextual evidence that a reveal was planned. The posters are a great example.
Here is the Batch in the final poster:
And here is CX-2
He's standing at Crosshair's right, just out of frame. The lighting matches and he's even looking up to the right just like the rest of his brothers. The line of light cutting his left side even matches the one cutting above Crosshair's right side.
All the other posters showing Bad Batch adversaries has them lit more darkly or in shadow and has unique posing and positioning that do not reflect our heroes.
Why are we styling a brainwashed clone like one of the Batchers artistically? That's a weird choice.
I think the some big wigs wanted him back and others didn't want to water down the impact of his death and we're seeing that confusion and conflict on screen, when we really shouldn't. IDK if Disney was pushing it or the showrunners but either way, going halfsies and changing your mind (and impacting the resolutions we got because of it) is not a good look, especially from a studio like Disney/Lucasfilm. I'm not blaming Dave or Jen wholly, but we the audience should never be able to see the writer's room when we watch, and that's all I was able to see with this.
(My own husband was like "we are supposed to think that's Tech, right?" and he's not really a Bad Batch fan, he just indulges me.)
Alright, that's all I got. I'm happy with how my comfort show ended, I'll write fanfic to cover the pieces I don't agree with personally, and I'll remain ever grateful and supportive of the community who gave me this most precious gift.
I love you all.
And may the force be with you.

I Want To Be You [Shū]
Prompt: Idolization & a Desire to Become.
Person: Ayato Sakamaki, Shuu Sakamaki
HC’s:
🍷 Ayato has always idolized Shuu from a very young age.
🍷 As in, he’d do everything he could to mimic the blond, but would fail constantly, as Shuu was an enigma to all.
🍷 Ayato wants to become Shuu.
🍷 No sugar coating it at all. He wants Shuu’s title, he wants his aura, he wants everything and anything connected to Shuu.
🍷 This is all influenced by Cordelia and Beatrix’s rivalry, which heavily influenced and became Ayato’s life, whilst Shuu remained unaffected.
🍷 The rivalry was Ayato’s world, as he did anything to attempt to become the better one out of the two.
🍷 It would always follow in constant failure, however, since Shuu didn’t care, nor did he let up in the high pursuit of the throne.
🍷 It was as if Shuu never saw Ayato as competition, like he could see right through the red-head.
🍷 Overtime, idolization became akin to envy and utmost desire. It was obsessive. It was unhealthy. Ayato dabbled and crosses the lines of sane and normal ages ago whenever Shuu was involved.
🍷 Ayato knew that whatever he did, he needed to be just like Shuu. Didn’t matter how he got there, he just had to overtake him somehow.
🍷 Shuu would know of his… project or obsession so to speak, but never would he outwardly say anything.
🍷 “My whole life, you were a teacher and friend to me
Please know my actions are not motivated only by envy
I, too, have a destiny
This death will be art
The people will speak of this day from near and afar
This event will be history, and I'll be great too
I don't want what you have, I want to be you” — Brutus by The Buttress.
🍷 Ayato desired it, craved it even.
🍷 After all, his abuse he went through would be all for nothing if he didn’t overtake the Great Shuu.
🍷 It would all be in vain. All of the tear stained nights, the ones spent isolated from his triplet brothers, the attempted drowning attempts his mother threw at him. It would serve as a reminder that Ayato had a clear, set goal in mind. And neither Reiji, or Shuu, would get in front of it.
🍷 He couldn’t care less about Reiji’s stance on the throne, all because Ayato knew that his real, main opponent was Shuu. It always was. And always will be.
🍷 You know the quote “you either wanna be him or be with him” Ayato will always choose the first when it’s about Shuu.
🍷 A broken mirror represents jealousy/envy.
🍷 Ayato has definitely broken a few mirrors when deep into his comparison mindset, unable to recognize or bear the thought of the red-head looking back at him through the looking glass. It was far too much. Red could never turn into blond.
🍷 Yellow Hyacinths also represent envy.
🍷 Laito once brought him those flowers as a joke, unknowing of Ayato’s deeply rooted anguish. (He lied, Laito knew.)
🍷 It can go both ways, as Laito is also envious of Ayato, but Ayato is far too consumed with Shuu.
🍷 Ayato secretly keeps a board consisting of pictures of Shuu.
🍷 He would sometimes draw big, gaunty red ‘X’ marks across his face, or find a knife and stab it repeatedly.
🍷 It differs on some days, as for the ones where he feels nostalgic and his envy dies down to a ‘healthier’ level of obsession, he’d draw hearts and circles, emphasizing what he wants and appreciates to gain.
🍷 Ayato even collects pictures and paraphernalia of Shuu just to go the extra mile of what it is he lacks inside himself and how he can change it.
🍷 He once thought of dying his hair blond, and perhaps getting coloured contacts, but it was then when he realized that he could never fill Shuu’s place.
🍷 Even more on this, he once bought box dye of bleach, toner, and purple shampoo to dye his hair.
🍷 Ayato did this in secret, and once he did so, it came out streaky and he quickly went to buy red hair mix.
🍷 Ayato drinks to cope. Specifically the same brand of alcohol Shuu particularly enjoys. Hennessy is a go to, as well as some champagne shockingly.
🍷 Shuu hates the classic beers, so Ayato never even looks at it.
🍷 Ayato used to try and dress the same as Shuu, but would gain strange looks and small remarks. He’d burn all of the clothing he’d bought with his allowance in the next week.
🍷 Shuu wears black and brown eyeliner, kajal (kohl,) and sometimes mascara to accentuate his blue eyes.
🍷 Ayato saw this and would pick up the same brands as Shuu did.
🍷 It was safe to say that Ayato didn’t suit it as well as he thought he would, and aimed for the brown instead in his outer corners as the full thing made him ‘emo.’

Can i req yandere sheet: attributes, flight, punisment for canada and russia?
Yandere Character Sheet I
1p Russia - Ivan Braginski
This is probably something I should have said before, but better late than never. Some of you might be inclined to voice your political opinions - with this I politely ask you to refrain from doing so. This has nothing to do with my own political stances and everything to do with this not being a politics blog. If somebody does decide to air their political opinions in the comments or ask box, it will be deleted without prior warning or further ado. Freedom of expression also means freedom to not express my opinions which is why politics will never be discussed on this blog.
Also, only whole Character Sheets may be requested!
Trigger warning: isolation, hyperthermia, hunting (with you as the prey), murder, disposal of corpses, controlling behaviour, manipulation, hints of survival horror, neglect, implied physical abuse
Attributes - What sort of Yandere is he/she?
Ivan is ultimately possessive. He has been lonely for so long, unable to connect with other people on a deep emotional level for so long. Therefore, when he has you in his grasp, you can be assured that he'll never let you go. Why should he, when you are his happiness? In the end, it isn't very important to him to know everything there is to you, as long as you are at his side (Though, that doesn't mean that he isn't curious about you).
If there is one defining thing about him, it is that he is unpredictable. He is a land of contradictions, the ultra rich live close to the dirt poor, with warm summers and hellishly cold winters - it is something that also reflects in his demeanour. He can be cultured - leading you out to theatre plays and ballets, visiting art museums and cuddling on the sofa at night and reading the classics with you. Or he could drag you along on a hunting trip, where the two of you have to live off the land for a few weeks. The ballroom or the heavy metal concert in the cellar of an old factory. It thus extends to his more unhealthy behaviour where he can maintain a stoic appearance for long, only for the emotions to concentrate into something more intense and then bubble over. It could often catch you unawares.
This is only amplified by the fact that he tends to humour the misconceptions that many people have about him. After all, if they base their actions on stereotypes and fantasies, then it means they'll underestimate him, and he'll have the upper hand and wipe the floor with them.
Aside from that, he is also very persistent. Russian winters are long and harsh, and additionally, Ivan has learned through his own history that nothing good ever comes easily. As such, he definitely wouldn't be dissuaded if you'd throw obstacles in his path. If anything, he would find it amusing that you think him so weak. So, no matter how far you run, no matter how much time passes, he won't forget you; all you can hope is that he'll lose interest or something else will take up the majority of his attention for a lengthy amount of time.
He can also be surprisingly astute and attentive to you, and this can be to your advantage as much as it can be to your disadvantage. Advantageous in that be can be very considerate - offering his jacket, or buying you presents that you like. It is also where his obsessive nuances would come to the fore and he would be so eager to please and pamper you.
The flip side of this coin is tied in with his paranoia. Having lived under countless occupations, regimes and suffered through rebellions and revolutions, plagues and famines, he would constantly be on the lookout for signs of betrayal. He is the sort to always look at his bedroom door before turning in and take keen note of people on the edges of his vision. Applied to you, that means he'll keep a very close eye on you if he thinks that you are being … disagreeable. There is the temptation to keep you under lock and key, but he knows that he has the best chance of catching you if it is in the middle of the act and if you are completely unaware of his suspicions.
There is also the matter that he has the proclivity to be very harsh. After the life he has lived, the bloodshed he has witnessed and even partook in at times, it is difficult to faze him. Thus, his interpretation of what is hurtful or even traumatising is severely different than that of other people, thanks to his blood soaked frame of reference. While he is aware of this, it still would often happen that he would scoff and label you or other people fragile when tears are shed about genuinely hurtful things. Naturally, this further influences how he treats you - varying from being too harsh with his punishments to then treating you like a fragile doll that would need toughening up before being allowed out without supervision.
Ivan is also patronising. Not to the extent Yao is, but still to an overtly noticeable degree. The main difference is that he bases it not at all on seniority but on having lived through interesting times aplenty. He has had to claw his way to his current position with nearly nothing given easily and everything painstakingly defended over and over again (at least that is how it is in his mind). Can you even claim to have suffered through a fraction of the tragedies he has? So heed his word since he is a more knowing and experienced person than you.
Cornering - How would they get you?
Ivan would much prefer you come to him willing. Perhaps you are charmed by his appreciation of the arts and literature - then he'll try to woo you by playing the gentleman or the daring young hussar. Maybe you met him as an attendee of heavy metal concerts, as a hunter in the steps and the woods - he'll indulge you so as well, showcasing the more savage part of himself. The point is that he'll try to pinpoint an angle from which he can hook you in, and then pull you closer.
But soon enough, conventenal wooing wouldn't be enough for him - his "passion" would only overcome his patience and he would want to haul you in quicker. Perhaps he would orchestrate circumstances so that you would be forced to move in, or he would manipulate events that you would have to rely heavily on him. He would dissuade you from seeking out friends and family, depicting them as parasitic and unhelpful. Whatever fears and doubts you have about your other chosen company. If he has to stand against the world, then he wants it to be with you at his side.
Though, it can just as well be that he'll have to resort to more permanent and extreme measures. At his core, he is a hunter and like any accomplished hunter, he doesn't automatically go after the weak or old - rather, it is the prized pelts of the strongest creatures he wants. The more you prevail against him, the more it will excite him. To him, catching you will be more of a game than anything else, a game of cat and mouse. If he were angry with you, it would also serve as a moral lesson.
Then there is the matter that he likes to manipulate events so that you end up in his arms - he is calling in favours, or gently nudging circumstances to play out in his favour. When it is required, he can be very patient and act with a lot of thought. He is more the sort to plan for the long term, even if he does have bouts of impulsivity.
Expectations - What do they expect of you?
He holds a certain ideal in his head, that he wishes you to fulfil. If you aren't really there yet, it is still fine - diamonds have to be cut and polished as well in order to achieve their brilliance. Why shouldn’t it be the same with you? Nevertheless, he has some expectations that you have to fulfil, in his eyes.
Politeness is one of them. This doesn’t mean that he wishes you to be unfailingly appeasing and gentle and kind all the time, all no. In his eyes, it is perfectly worthy of praise and encouragement if you have sharp edges. It is simply that you have to have tact and not make any scenes in public, and know how to act appropriately in any given moment. And that when you don’t really know how you should act, or are exceptionally jittery, that you don’t make a fool of yourself. What Ivan expects is that politeness that comes from having lessons on diplomacy or etiquette, or even just a good upbringing, and not that that stems from being a doormat.
Topping that, he wants you to be both cultured and witty. Ivan is of the opinion that you have to have a good balance of both - those that are only book smart and not street smart can be painfully entitled and self-righteous. That is something that dives into that sort of idealism that makes Ivan physically ill. He would rather not have a missionary for a spouse - they can be so hard set in their way, no room for budging and certainly no reverse gear once they start to escalate. And they are certainly of the sort that will always place any blame on him. Street smart because he would love it if you can give your own input on social situations, and relieve some of the burden from him. So that he doesn’t have to guide you through interactions, and doesn’t have to clean up any mistakes that you make. So that he can let you out of the house without having to worry. But not too street smart please, and not just that - he needs you to be able to converse on higher topics that gossip and psychology and bread prices. Book smart because it often means cultured and he wants somebody that he can share his passions with - going to the theatre, reading books on stormy nights, going on long walks and appreciating nature.
Related to that in a way, he would loath it if you are lazy. Participate in some sort of sport, preferably of the sort that isn’t of the team variant and allows you to shine on your own. Figure skating, fencing, chess, swimming … either one, maybe even all of it. Mind and body are connected so ensuring you have a healthy body through physical exertion should help prevent your mind spiralling down to insanity while at his mercy. Be the sort that doesn't procrastinate on chores and puts effort in running a good household.
Additionally, Russia likes people that are ambitious, be it in the practical sense of building and acting, or in the manner that poets and philosophers are. Have more intentions than to just stare at a screen and give out money. Have passion, dare to dream and crave more than what you have. Life in the weather extremes of his domain don't favour those without fire in their souls, and steel in their spines. Sink or swim, and if you don't have the discipline to cling to your dreams and not give up, then you won't survive him.
Though, don't forget him amidst all your calls and desires. He wants you to care for him, to sooth his paranoia and worries. Run him hot baths and cook the meals. Come New Year's lay all the homemade biscuits and cakes and salads on the table for a feast. Be family to him and he'll be family to him. Be caring and affectionate and playful (but carefully so) behind closed doors and stoic and proper in public.
Faded - Would they let go of you in any way?
Maybe, when engaging in his favourite pastime of existential dread, he would come to the conclusion that he isn't good for you; he would let you go or even deliver you to your preferred person. At times, the self-hatred does come to the fore, and makes him conclude that the wisest course of action is the one he detests the most.
Aside from that he has dreams that are bigger than his relationship with you. If you were to threaten his dreams of empire and the securities tied with it, then he would choose his dreams over you. While he would die for you (given that he will revive) he would never sacrifice himself for you.
Or, you could evolve into the sort of person that he detests. Of course, he would attempt to take control over the wheel and righting the course, but a lost cause is a lost cause. He would reluctantly let you go and cherish the memories he has. Though he'll do everything in his power to avoid such a scenario.
Punishment - How would they proceed if you do something they disapprove of?
This is the case where he doesn't really pull any punches - though he wouldn't beat you. That is something he considers himself above and besides, common punches and kicks wouldn't even teach a dog right from wrong, so how would such methods be suited for his partner.
Ivan views punishments as a form of re-education and it would be useless if he doesn't make it clear what lesson he is trying to impart, or if you don't learn it over the course of your chastisement. Besides, he doesn't see you as his enemy or an unruly subordinate, so why should he treat you as such?
Thus you'll usually receive a long lecture on your misdoings - what exactly was wrong, why and how he will deal with it. And then the actual correctional actions would commence.
In winter, he may leave you out in the cold for a few minutes, stripped of your clothing until you develop hyperthermia. Then you are forced to lay your life and wellbeing in his hands as he nurses you back to health. Besides, isn't it so romantic to have somebody save you from death's door?
In the warmer months, he would tie your hands and feet to weights and anchor you to the shoreline of a river or lake. You would be up to the chest or hips in water and he'll have you wearing either something short-sleeved or just leave you there in your underwear. That way, you would be at the mercy of the mosquitoes and insects and the creatures in the water. And at risk of getting a nasty sunburn, if you are prone to it. He would leave you for hours out there, so don't think it would be a walk in the park. If he is feeling particularly provocative, then he'll start a BBQ or do some fishing. And no, you're not getting anything to eat or drink. If you end up getting sick from drinking the water you're standing in, or eating some water plant, then he'll pump out your stomach.
Of course there are other punishments, all along the vein of the carrot and the stick. Ivan will give you your own room during the first few years, and have it fitted to your tastes. Though, you'll only be allowed to have these if you behave yourself. The same goes for good food and beverages other than water. Should you start rebelling, then he'll start stripping away the luxuries that he has given you until only the basic necessities remain. People have had to survive on less than overcooked food and plain water, so you will just be fine.
And don't presume that you can argue that you'll only give him respect if he shows you respect in the first place. While at his mercy, you're on the shorter end of the stick, powerless in relation to him, so you'll have to make careful and very good arguments. Also, don't even try to play at being a fixer-upper. He is not some broken clock that needs repairing, so don't try to "fix" him. Attempting to do so will push him very close to wringing your neck as one would a turkey on Christmas.
Though, above all, this isn't a poker game where he'll take bluffs and slights of hand and hollow promises with a mere scowl and some harsh words. Play him for a fool, make promises you have no intention of keeping, prove yourself to be utterly untrustworthy, then he'll make you feel sorry. Either, it will be solitary confinement for a week or two, or he'll dump you in the middle of nowhere, weeks away from any other human being. Perhaps he'll have to confine you to a sick bed afterwards.
Reaction - How would they react to you escaping?
His first reaction is anger, though not of the screaming and breaking things. Rather, it is that ice cold anger that makes his blood freeze and his mind razor sharp in its focus. There is part of this wrath that is due to the disrespect you show him through running away. A good relationship relies on good communication, so why did you have to run away? Why didn't you just talk about your problems with him? Why do I have to behave like a sugar-addled brat? Perhaps he should lay you over his knee, and give you a good hiding.
The other side to this coin is anger born out of worry. In terms of chinks in his armour, you can be considered one, and Ivan know of a great many people that would ruthlessly exploit it. And those people would care about honour, propriety or even so-called rights, not when ignoring that can get them what they want. Aside from that, you are so fragile and helpless compared to him - just how can you hope to survive the big, bad world out there? But don't worry, he knows how you feel, having been in a similar position a few times, so he'll be quick to come to the rescue.
Should it be possible, Russia will endeavour to retrieve you without the help. It is a private matter after all, and he does feel some second-hand embarrassment due to your antics. In the case he does involve some agents or other people, he'll be as vague about the true nature of your relationship. Just don't think that you can really use this against him - it will end up harming you more than him.
However, there could be a scenario where he would even anticipate and hunger for this. A mind game, perhaps, one designed to break your hope of escaping and flaunting his power and skill to you. In his bid to make a lasting impression on you, he is willing to declare open season on you. If he is feeling particularly vindictive, he'll draw all of this out, play with you, like a leopard toying with a baby impala before ultimately killing and eating it. Beware, for he can empathise and think like you, and thus deduce your movements and ultimately track you down. You are the prey and he is the hunter and he is willing to let you think you have the upper hand, only to crush those fantasies underfoot when the time is right.
Turnabout - Scenario: You have the upper hand? What would be different from their usual MO?
He isn't the sort to take defeat lying down, given since past events have taught that that only leads to subjugation and misery. Each time he could think about giving up, about surrendering even just a fraction of the control that he has over himself, all the times he did so before flash before his eyes, especially the 90s of the past century, of Alfred imposing his shock therapy on him and the apocalyptic circumstances it spawned. All because he was naive enough to believe an enemy would show him mercy. Why should you be any different? So if he has to go down, then you'll go down with him - he burn the cities, salt the fields and flood the mines. If he has to die, then you can ride to hell with him.
If it doesn't come to that, if the turn of events is born due to betrayal and false expectations, then he'll proceed slowly. Gradually he'll undermine your actions, or at least nudge the course of events to suit his needs. His goals don't have to be diametrically opposed to yours, or seem like things worthy of your attention. If you are ignorant in some category, then he won't hesitate to use it against you. He does intend on repaying you for everything you've inflicted upon him, and that with interest, compound interest if you are not cautious.
Should you be kind and considerate, he'll be more open to such an arrangement, as long as you pay a lot of attention to him. Ivan will still find ways to influence you, and while things will be quiet for a while, it will eventuell end like the events described above in the second paragraph. He'll make it clear to you that it is nothing personal and just business.
Vengeance - What would they do in the face of competition?
Quiet like a tiger would act if somebody steals/tries to steal his meat. At first, he is content with threats and displays of powers, puffing himself up in order to appear bigger. Cold expressions and even colder words towards any other potential suitors. Commonly, he carries himself with such authority and purpose that he scares away most of those that stand in his way.
If that is not enough, he might send some boys to knock the opponent around a bit. Or maybe stick out a leg at work to trip the other. A small message, a swipe with his claws - back off. Just a tiny incident to show the concurrence that he is serious.
But if that isn't enough, then matters get dark. Perhaps the other has his reputation ruined, with illicit material of that person posted online. Maybe he'll warn everybody to stay away from that person, a recipe for insanity. Or if the man/woman dares hurt you, or worse, then that person will end up chopped up and rendered to pig food. Anything to keep you safe, after all.

Can I request Platonic zoldlyck gen hc?
God, I knew that this was coming at one point. I'm making reader in here a part of the family.
Tw: Yandere themes, unhealthy mindset, unhealthy relationship, possessive behavior, possessive behavior, obsession, stalking, clinginess, sabotage, threats, violence, isolation, death
Platonic Zoldyck Family Hc's
Zeno Zoldyck
🐲 He wouldn't admit it out loud but it's still somewhat obvious that you're his favorite grandchild. There is a certain soft spot the old man harbors for you and it occasionally shines through. He engages in games for children with you if you beg him enough, gives you gladly advice when you train and is always willing to listen to your problems. Zeno prides himself on his experience and the insightful help he can give you because of it. Zeno holds high hopes for you too so it happens very often that he ends up as your personal tutor to help you master the art of assassination. He wants you to succeed the family and their reputation for being the most dangerous assassins known so he teaches you techniques he isn't likely to reveal to anyone else. He's a good balance though since he never goes too brutal on you unless he knows that you can defend yourself and mixes rest and relaxation well with hours of exhausting training. If you manage to master his teachings and finish missions flawlessly, he's sure to always compliment and praise you warmly and grant you a treat.
Silva Zoldyck
🐺 Silva is incredibly possessive and from all children you're the one he spends the most time with. Kikyo, your maternal figure, rarely gets to see you and so do your other siblings since Silva consumes almost all of your time. He holds you in high esteem and has decided to train you personally in everything. He passes down his teachings that you shouldn't strike unless you're sure to win and goes a bit brutal on you. Hours and hours on end where he goes full beast mode on you even if you can't handle that level of strength yet. He only gives you a break when you're nearly about to faint from physical exhaustion and is very strict, scolds and chides you for everything you haven't kept in mind during the fight. He might end up sending you on missions that are highly dangerous if he sees it as a necessary step in your development as an assassin. Willing to spoil you a bit but only if you've fulfilled or even exceeded his expectations. Everyone in the mansion knows to not upset you or spend too much time with you though since Silva is sure to come after such people and punish them.
Kikyo Zoldyck
🔺 Kikyo has always been enraptured with you, even when you were still an infant. She's very obsessed and recalls your entire life so far as if it just happened moments ago. She's really clingy and when you aren't with her, you'll hear her shrill voice calling for you. There were times when you didn't come though and in such cases she ordered the butlers of the house angrily to find you and bring you to her, otherwise she'd kill them for their incompetence. She dotes on you and coddles on you in an excessive way, spoils you and dresses you up in all the finest clothes she can find. Money is of no concern. She likely never lets you spend much time with others since she's overprotective and is paranoid that anyone else besides her and her family will be a bad influence for you. So she's likely to kill anyone who she thinks will sully you. You're a splendid assassin in her opinion, she even insists that you should be together with Killua the heir of the family since both of you are more than suited. Spoils you after every mission you fulfilled, although she makes a terrible fuss over possible bruises or scratches, if you let someone even hurt you that is.
Illumi Zoldyck
🤎 Illumi usually appears void of all sorts of emotions but it's painfully clear for everyone that he has an unhealthy attachment to one of his siblings, you. He constantly hovers near you and stares intensely into everyone who steps too close to you or spends too much time with you. It's creepy and unnerving and even the well-trained butlers tend to get shivers. The man is also awfully possessive over his younger sibling and finds it unnecessary for them to spend time with the other Zoldyck kids, except Killua maybe. If he should be older than you he sort of expects you to obey his words since he's the oldest child and for that holds authority over you. Similar to Silva he holds high expectations for you and is sure to get rid of everything that might interrupt your determination to be an assassin. So you end up isolated as he monopolizes most of your time. It even happens that he follows you on missions assigned to you to see how you're doing with your job as an assassin. If you've done the job well you tend to get a few presents from him, his way to show you that he's proud of you.
Milluki Zoldyck
💻 Milluki is more demanding and bratty when it comes to his sibling's attention. He tends to spend a lot of time inside his room playing some games or watching some shows instead of being active but that doesn't mean that he should be underestimated. He can definitely be more mean to you, especially if you should be younger and he has a feeling of superiority for being older than you. In that case he commands you often a bit around and is slightly mad when you don't listen to him. Gets incredibly jealous if he finds out that you like one of his siblings more than him which results in him being more salty and rude to you although shortly after he tries to buy your favor by getting you games or snacks you love. Insists that you spend some sibling time with him huddled up inside his room which he locks up since he hates being disrupted when he has you for himself. He participates more when you're on missions, searches for information on the target which he gives you if you spend afterwards more time with him and it's not unlikely that he tries to install a tracker so he can check your location when you're away.
Killua Zoldyck
🪀 He spends most of his time with you during his early childhood since you're the only one who doesn't pressure him and just grant him a normal childhood. You're trained to be an assassin yourself but understand that it doesn't have to be forced upon him. Killua is clingy, often searches for you and sulks when he finds out that you have left for missions. He acts like a normal child around you, shares his food and snacks with you and even if he's embarrassed, he also loves it when you give him a big hug. When he leaves the family to participate in the Hunter exams, he comes up running to you and asks you if you want to accompany him. Sure, you're a dangerous assassin and don't even need a license but he just wants to take you away from the mountain and be alone with you. He's distraught when you decline his ask since you have to stay here but promise to wait for him. He tells Gon a lot about you as soon as he's become his friend, tells Gon his goal of leaving together with Alluka and you the family so all of you can be free.
Alluka Zoldyck
💝 Her and Nanika both adore their sibling a lot, shown by Nanika's willingness to grant only Killua and you freely wishes. You never abuse the kindness and affection Alluka and Nanika hold for you though since your sibling is precious to you. Alluka is essentially imprisoned in the mansion but you still insist on spending time with her which makes Alluka really happy. She always wants to play with you, wants hugs or to be lifted in the air only to surprise you with a kiss on your cheek or nose. She's very clingy and as a child she always was hanging on your hip like a monkey and that habit continues even as both of you grow older. Since she's never permitted outside, you always bring her souvenirs when you come back from a mission and tell her from all the things you have seen. When Killua comes to save her, she insists that she wants you to come with her and starts crying too. You gladly tag along though, relieved that your beloved sibling is finally free from this family. Alluka wants you to show her all the places you told her about during her time inside.
Kalluto Zoldyck
🏮 Kalluto is the silent type who walks behind you like a little duckling. He's the youngest and that makes him insecure a bit although he isn't above using that to his own advantage too if he knows that it'll guarantee him your attention. If you just happen to be the youngest one, he acts like your silent guardian as he's weirdly protective over you. Kalluto tries to impress you as he feels a need to prove himself, specifically if he really is the youngest. As much as he enjoys and loves seeing you doting on him a bit, he also wants you to see that he's just as much of a capable assassin as you are. He wants to watch you training since he idolizes you quite a bit and believes your fighting abilities and Nen powers to be really amazing. He's upset when he doesn't get to spend time with you for a longer while but rarely complains and instead keeps silent. He knows that it can't be helped when you have a job but he spends hours outside waiting for your return. He runs to you as soon as you return, tugs your clothes shyly as a silent way to ask for a hug.

The Impact of Fanaticism in the "Supernatural" Fandom on Mental Health
"Supernatural," a television series that aired from 2005 to 2020, has garnered a massive and dedicated fan base known as "Supernatural Family" or "SPN Family." The show's combination of horror, drama, and familial bonds resonated deeply with its audience, leading to a fervent fandom. While the passionate engagement within the fandom fosters a sense of community and belonging, it also presents challenges to mental health. This post explores how fanaticism within the "Supernatural" fandom affects individuals' mental well-being, examining both the positive and negative aspects of such intense engagement.
Positive Effects of Fandom on Mental Health
Sense of Belonging and Community Support One of the most significant positive aspects of fandom is the sense of belonging it fosters. Fans often find a community where they can share their passion for the show, leading to meaningful connections and friendships. The "Supernatural" fandom, in particular, is known for its inclusivity and supportiveness. For many fans, being part of this community provides an emotional support network that can alleviate feelings of loneliness and isolation . The camaraderie within the fandom can be a powerful source of emotional and mental support. Fans engage in discussions, share fan fiction, attend conventions, and participate in social media groups where they can express their admiration for the show and its characters. This sense of community can improve self-esteem and provide a buffer against the stresses of everyday life .
Coping Mechanism for Life Challenges For some individuals, the "Supernatural" fandom serves as a coping mechanism for dealing with personal issues such as anxiety, depression, or grief. The show’s themes of resilience, family bonds, and fighting against the odds resonate deeply with fans facing their own struggles. Engaging with the fandom can provide a sense of hope and inspiration, encouraging fans to persevere through their challenges. Moreover, the fandom’s creative outlets, such as fan fiction writing, art, and cosplay, offer therapeutic benefits. These activities allow fans to express themselves, process emotions, and find solace in creativity, which can have a positive impact on their mental health .
Negative Effects of Fandom on Mental Health
Obsession and Over-Identification While being a fan can offer significant benefits, excessive fanaticism can lead to detrimental effects on mental health. Some individuals may develop an unhealthy level of obsession with the show, leading to over-identification with characters or plotlines. This intense focus can result in the neglect of real-life responsibilities, relationships, and personal well-being. Over-identification with fictional characters or the narrative can blur the lines between reality and fiction, potentially leading to emotional distress when the show does not meet their expectations or when it concludes. The end of "Supernatural" in 2020, for instance, left many fans experiencing profound grief and loss, akin to mourning a significant part of their lives.
Online Toxicity and Harassment The passionate nature of the "Supernatural" fandom can sometimes give rise to toxic behavior and online harassment. Disagreements over plot developments, character arcs, or shipping (supporting particular character relationships) can escalate into heated arguments and cyber-bullying. This hostile environment can have severe consequences for mental health, including anxiety, depression, and a sense of alienation from the community that was once a source of support . The anonymity of the internet can exacerbate these issues, as individuals may feel emboldened to engage in negative behavior without facing immediate consequences. Victims of online harassment within the fandom may experience increased stress and a decrease in their overall sense of well-being .
Emotional Dependency and Escapism For some fans, intense engagement with the "Supernatural" fandom can lead to emotional dependency and escapism. These individuals may rely heavily on the show and its community as a means of avoiding real-life problems. While escapism can provide temporary relief, it does not address underlying issues and can hinder personal growth and problem-solving abilities. Prolonged reliance on the fandom for emotional support can prevent individuals from developing healthy coping mechanisms and social skills necessary for navigating real-world challenges. This dependency can perpetuate a cycle of avoidance and exacerbate mental health issues in the long term .
Conclusion
The "Supernatural" fandom, like many others, embodies both the positive and negative aspects of intense fan engagement. On the one hand, it provides a sense of community, emotional support, and creative outlets that can enhance mental health and well-being. On the other hand, excessive fanaticism can lead to obsession, online toxicity, and emotional dependency, all of which can negatively impact mental health.
Understanding the balance between healthy fandom participation and excessive fanaticism is crucial. Fans and mental health professionals alike should recognize the potential benefits of fandom while remaining vigilant about the risks of over-involvement. By fostering a supportive and inclusive community, the "Supernatural" fandom can continue to be a source of positive mental health benefits while mitigating the adverse effects of fanaticism.

I only just finished Elden Ring recently so I’ve appreciated seeing all of your posts about it, both the lore talk and the badass art. Anyway do you ever think about how Ranni was willing to throw away everything for the sake of herself, whereas Miquella was willing to throw away himself for the sake of everything else? Bc I sure do
(There’s soooooo many issues with the dlc in regards to lore/story, but Miquella absolutely deserved an ending on the level of Ranni’s imo. And, like, a ton more attention paid to him over the course of the dlc and feat. him actually making choices that made sense but. Y’know. The sentiment about his selflessness still stands)
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed both my posts and art <3
I like how Miquella's story parallels Marika, but also it's difficult for me too see him as 100% compassionate and empathetic after learning about his obsession with Radahn, it seems a bit unhealthy to me. I rather view Miquella bringing Radahn back as something quite selfish. So I think that he was doing it all partially for his own sake too; for his vision of the world. As for Ranni, I view her rather differently and feel like she was interested in the Age of Stars for the sake of changing the world so it can move on from the stagnation; because unfortunately, there's no breaking the cycle the Lands Between ended up in without some violent change. But yeah, I kinda like her egoism showing up and at least it's sincere without all this bluff about making the world a better worse place. One of my fav things about Elden Ring is the wide variety of lore and plot interpretations and the grey morality of it all, and this is what I decided to go with for the sake of Hilde's story, since she chose to support Ranni in the end. I for sure would like to see the "Heart Stolen" ending tbh.

Imagine:
Yan!mum Egyptian!Bayonetta
Plot Summery: General platonic yandere headcanons for the Egyptian variant of Bayonetta, known also as "The Cloistered Witch"
This Contains: ‼️SPOILERS‼️ yandere themes (no violence towards reader), character death, unhealthy mindset, not proofread.
Note(s): sorry for the absence! I might end up making more of these, since I LOVED the multiverse, but I'll also be interested in doing some DC stuff eventually! Assuming I can muster up the motivation to do them pfft-
Egyptian!Bayonetta is a very loving and kind yandere. She is especially affectionate and adoring compared to the other variants, but has a level of self-control they lack. For the most part.
Overprotective and more obsessive then most variants. Though a softer variant of Bayo, she's arguably one of the most manipulative ones there are. She's a guilt-tripper, using her lack of conviction and timidness to pull on the heartstrings, even shedding a few tears. Worse yet, most of the time she isn't even aware that she's doing this, as it all comes from a place of genuine insecurity.
Absolute spoiler as well. Whatever you want is yours, especially if you butter her up a bit. She's a literal princess, she can get anything and everything you want. That said, though rarely, she'll also remind you of these rewards whenever something should go south. Also uses her privileges as ruler to keep an eye on you.
If you possess the spiritual power needed for it, you might end up being trained in the Dark Arts like your mother, much to her dismay. She begs you not to partake in them, as umbran training is extremely demanding, but just a few promises of taking it carefully and puppydog eyes will change her mind. She will be training alongside you though, and Jeanne will be the one teaching you both (may also be a yandere for you)
Do be warned: any scratch you sustain will be instantly met with extreme amounts of maternal love and attention, a lot of kisses and smothering, and a few pleas for you to no longer aspire to be a witch.
I like to think the Malphas' have an affection to you as well. They'll drop you many shiny things they've found across the desert, ranging from coins to golden towers and more. Also think they'd want you to fly on them.
When Singularity attacks and Jeanne is taken, Bayonetta demands that you stay behind, the first time she's ever directly commanded to do something. It's an action born out of fear and desperation, because god knows what she'd do if you were to die. You could reason with her though, that this interloper is a threat no matter where you are. Reluctantly, she'll agree to take you with her as she adventures to rescue Jeanne.
Lord forbid you're the Arch-Eve/Adam of this world. She'd be hysterical, especially if you were to challenge Singularity head on. She'd absolutely demand, beg you not to do it, at least not alone. Will fight you if she must to ensure you won't be killed.
Bayo is devastated having to kill Jeanne but has some comfort and relief knowing that you're safe. When Brave!Cereza is knocked unconscious and is sucked into the black hole, she gives you one last embrace before chasing after her origin. In this scenario, you'll be left in the care of Brave!Cereza, who'll vow to take care of you to honor her variant (likely becomes a yandere for you too).
If you're the Arch-Eve/Adam, she'd never forgive herself for failing you, letting you get harmed, let alone having to kill you, even if you begged her to. Knowing that your blood is on her hands will drive her insane, and breaks her heart completely. It's only due to Brave!Cereza that she doesn't completely give in to despair at first, but it isn't permanent. Thus, when Cereza is knocked unconscious, she gladly sacrifices herself for her variant.
As she's sucked into the black hole begotten by the powered Spider Demon, her thoughts are with you and Jeanne. She feels no fear, she feels no uncertainty. She's content in her last moments, lips swayed in a saddened but genuine smile. Her eyes look towards the sky one more time as she speaks her final words.
"Jeanne...Y/N... did you see? I won."

I was reading a new Demi Lovato interview and they were talking how one of the reasons she was so obsessed with succeeding was to get their father's attention (she had a complicated relationship with him)... Like, they did love her work, but it was also an unhealthy coping mechanism for the family issues, bullying, SA trauma, undiagnosed and untreated mental illnesses etc... Now I wonder if that's also one of the reasons why Lestat loves music and theater so much? Sure, there's genuine appreciation for art there and possibly some levels of narcissism too, but it could also be the child him craving for the attention and love he didn't get from his family growing up.
P.S. I'm alternating neutral and feminine pronouns because Demi is non-binary and uses both ok
#interview with the vampire#lestat de lioncourt#i feel like maybe i'm having the most thoughtful insight ever or being the last person to realize something alarmingly obvious lmao#or maybe i'm reaching completely and seeing stuff where there isn't#but i do think it makes sense and yeah maybe y'all already knew that but it clicked for me now... and btw lestat would LOVE demi lovato

How are we doing this
So, I decided to learn Japanese again. How will I do that?
Well, one thing that needs to be noted is that I already used to learn Japanese, once a upon a time. I think I used to be N3 level, but it kind of all fell apart because:
a) My bachelor's and (first) master's degree used to be in Japanese studies, and when you are learning a language like that, you are rarely learning just the language. Chances are, you are also learning about the culture of the language, the society in which it is predominantly spoken, art, literature, history (boy, did we have a lot of history courses), geography (we actually had to remember each and every name of every region and prefecture AND we had to be able to draw a map of Japan and mark each region and prefecture). The point is, you have a lot of things to do that are NOT learning the language.
b) The pandemic and online classes. That is all I will say on this, You understand.
c) I was stressed with coursework and life to the point I could not sleep and it sucked.
I am not making excuses for myseld (well, maybe a bit), but the thing is, I needed a break. And that break lasted for about 2 and a half years. So yeah, your language skills kind of evaporate when you don't use the said language often. It helps when you have literally no one to practice it with too. Go figure.
SO, WHAT IS THE POINT OF THIS?
The point of this is to say that I already have experience with Japanese language, meaning, I do not need to relearn hiragana and katakana because muscle memory. I also do not need to learn some basic phrases, like "good morning" or "I'm hungry". I also realized that I have some knowledge hiding in the mental basement of my mind that I just need to take out, blow the dust off and reactivate it.
Thus, I decided on the following approach.
Assume I don't remember anything and start from the top. The thing is, I don't know what I don't know until I come face to face with a specific word, grammar, kanji, whatever. We are going through everything, no matter how insignificant or simple it may seem.
Do not rely on apps alone. Phone is too accessible so it is tempting to assume I will just use one of the many designated apps whenever I have the time. I mean, I will, when I feel like it. But relying on just the apps and my impulse control (I've been kiiinda obsessed with NYT games, to the point of unhealthy) is not good enough.
Textbook, textbook, textbook. We used to use Minna no Nihongo in classes, but I decided I am a bit bored of Santos and the spoon and other peopel (if you used Minna no Nihongo, you know what I'm talking about. If you saw the video, extra points to you.), so I decided to try Genki. So far, so good. The tempo is a bit different, but I enjoy it.
As for the apps, we shall use the following (I have an Android, mind you): Akebi (for dictionary, very colorful, able to add words and kanji directly to Anki), Anki (flashcards, though I have been lazy with this one), Clozemaster (I like this one, has grammar explanations, game-like, colloquial Japanese, very nice), Hello Talk (when I get brave enough).
Practice listening. I have to start watching YT videos for this because when I just listen to music I get distracted by the vibes so I don't even try to figure out what the song is about.
That's it for now I guess. Have to get brave enough to try speaking/texting in Japanese, and practice listening. Reading is so far good, writing too, I am pretty confident I could pass N5 test, but let's finish Genki textbooks first, just so I can say I actually know something, that I'm not just guessing and getting lucky.
Good luck to me.
