HOWEVER, the inherent comedy and subsequently tragedy of Cody being down bad and Obi-Wan just being completely oblivious and seeing him as a friend.

And poor Cody is out here being one in the club of hopeless heartbroken Obi-Wan admirers. Like the pining and longing is to a ridiculous level meanwhile Obi-Wan is like, “oh cody! There you are can you cover for me for the weekend? Why? Oh uh…… a covert mission….. to the Mandalore system…..very secret……ok thank you!!!”

I've been listening to Mamma Mia on repeat during my morning exercises (shut up) and I feel like there should be a Jangobi Mamma Mia AU?? or something. Jangobi with these vibes.

now, I haven't seen the movie, but I have read an X-Men Mamma Mia AU (shut up) and I feel like this is Jangobi level of absolutely ridiculous drama. this whole who is the parent, exes-to-lovers, some fucking island, yada yada yada, "how could resist you," "here I go again."

These are all great takes on this 🤣 …like Satine is trying to push sweeping social reforms (“C’mon people, don’t beat each other up your wedding night! just put on some Max Rebo and do a fun little dance or something!”) and meanwhile her sister is blowing through husbands like Elizabeth Taylor (but with a blaster instead of divorce lawyers 😅). Got a feeling that Bo has always liked to make Satine’s life hard.

Never really considered an Obitine Wedding Night Fight, but that sounds about right 😆 …as committed as Satine is to pacifism, she sure does love verbally sparring with Obi-Wan!

There are so many ways that a Sabezra Rid. Ak. could go that I just can’t decide which one is my ‘canonical headcanon.’ But in my mind, it only makes sense for them to hold nothing back — especially once Ezra accepts that they’re not playing…and they’re not sparring…they’re actually dueling…for real. 😳 And I think he’d pull out a hard-fought victory in the end, too (after a very long, very intense fight). As capable as Sabine is, Mandalorian vambraces only have so many tricks and surprises, and in close quarters (like a bedroom suite), Ezra’s resourcefulness would give him an edge. Speaking of his resourcefulness… I could totally see Sabine refusing to yield (pride and stubbornness and all that) until Ezra breaks down her guard by putting different kinds of moves on her…leading right into the main event. 😉 The line between the duel and what comes after would probably be a little blurred.

Congratulations! You’re being smothered with a completely random headcanon about Mandalorian marriage customs rescued! Please do not resist.

The Rite of Riduurok Akaanir, aka “Lover’s Quarrel”

Alright…so I gotta be honest and say that even though I can’t remember how exactly this headcanon came to me, I’ve been carrying it around for years, ever since first watching Rebels and shipping Sabezra 😅 …and at this point, I feel like it’s burning a hole in my head, trying desperately to get out, so I’m gonna save myself the expense of reconstructive cranial surgery and just share it:

Mandalorians like to fight. Actually, they don’t just like to fight, “weapons are a part of [their] religion,” or at least their culture—and for many, their entire lives are built around that. In the case of the Children of the Watch, strict adherence to a No-Living-Being-Can-See-You-With-Your-Helmet-Off orthodoxy even gets in the way of basic interpersonal behavior, like eating a meal together. The implications of that are…interesting…and not in a “wow that’s cool!” way…more like a “kark, that’s depressing” way.

Basically, I started to wonder how the “BAM! BOOM! BAM! BOOM! BLOW STUFF UP AND KILL THOSE FORCE-WIELDING MANIACS!” portion of Mandalorian culture (so…most of it?) intersects with intrinsic parts of human…wait, nope, sorry Grogu sentient life—namely romantic intimacy. (Paz Vizsla has, presumably, not taken his helmet off in decades…and he has a son who’s probably 12ish years old, tops…so do you think he ever stares at his kid and tries parsing out his own features to get an idea of what his wife looks like?) It’s an extreme example from an extreme sect, but there’s application to Mandalorian society as a whole. Where does love fit into a worldview or galaxy-view, I guess where conflict is a core tenet? When do individuals stop existing as warriors and start existing as people? Do they ever?

Anyway, the point is that on its face, the cultural dogma doesn’t seem to leave much room for authentic social and romantic intimacy, especially the latter since, ya know, the beskar has to come off both literally and figuratively in order to procreate. It’s difficult for me to see how the necessity of physical and emotional vulnerability can coexist with the rest of Mando culture—so let’s just leave it at that.

But for a civilization to survive as long as Mandalore has without totally disintegrating, those intimate relationships have to exist, and there’s plain evidence that they do. For all their problems, the Wren family clearly loves each other, and we even get a glimpse of some soft Alrich/Ursa PDA in “Heroes of Mandalore.” Then there’s Bo-Katan, who still cares deeply for her sister despite…well…joining a terrorist faction to help overthrow her. That says something, right?

Wrapping my mind around how authentic love can exist in a fictional warrior society really got me thinking—so much so that I headcanoned a ritual (Riduurok Akaanir, “Lover’s Quarrel”) to help myself work it all out.

The general idea? On Mandalorian wedding nights, the bride and groom have a private duel. A duel to the death? Maybe if it’s an arranged marriage and one party really wants out and I’m gonna speculate that Bo-Katan widowed herself at least four times before running off to join Death Watch.

More commonly, though, it’s just a playful act to embody love transcending conflict. Alrich Wren, for example, isn’t a traditional warrior, but Ursa didn’t assert her superior combat prowess on their wedding night by firing a wrist rocket at his face something Bo-Katan probably did to a few of the short-lived husbands Satine picked out for her. (“Parry this, you kriffing casual.”) Instead, I’d like to think Alrich and Ursa went through the basic motions of a hand-to-hand duel, not necessarily to prove who’s the better warrior, but as an intimate prelude to the actual consummation of their marriage—almost like a mutually disarming dance. (Could it be light-heartedly competitive? Sure! As the first Mando to perform the Riduurok Akaanir with a Jedi, Sabine would go all-out to make sure she doesn’t lose to Ezra! 😆) When the dance-duel ends, they set aside their warrior identities to become something more: husband and wife. It’s like a way of saying, “As Mandalorians, what we do is fight, but we’re more than mere weapons. We fight so we can love. We wear armor to protect ourselves, our homes, and our families. It’s an important part of who we are, but we’re ultimately made of flesh and blood, not cold beskar.”

So that’s the point of Riduurok Akaanir, a term I came up with using this nifty English to Mando’a online translator (before I just called it “Wedding Night Fight” in my head). It’s not supposed to be a blanket explanation—but intimacy and vulnerability don’t have clear utility in a warrior culture, and this is my best attempt at bridging that perceived gap.

HIIIIII guys! WOW this one became way more ambitious than I ever could have imagined.

To be honest, I don't really care about Obitine too much! There's nothing wrong with it of course, but there's something about ships that are actually explored in canon and are het that make me just go, "yeah, that's canon. I don't have to do anything about it."

BUT! This situation was SO spicy, and this comic is actually the one I had in my head the longest before creating all of my things.

Satine wore a black wedding dress, because she is mourning the death of her pacifist ideals through her marriage to a Sith lord. She carries and wears calla lilies, white lilies, black lilies, and (red) spider lilies; all symbolic of death in some way. The more traditional kinds of lilies are flowers often seen at funerals. Spider lilies are heavily associated with death in Japan, particularly.

Obi-wan, of course, was going to wear black to his wedding regardless. And he admires this kind of pacifistic resistance to the change that's about to take place. Maybe they will fall in love; maybe they will continue hating each other. I don't know! Someone write this fanfic for me, okay?

I've decided to start making little graphics with some of my favorite lines from my fics 🤷‍♀️ This is from When Obi-Wan Married Satine.

In 2018 James Arnold Taylor and Anna Graves officiated a wedding between 2 obitine cosplayers. One of my followers was inspired by the event and asked me to write a wedding scene for Obi-Wan and Satine. It was a fun exercise and I think the mini fic turned out fairly well. It was nice to write something sweet (and pretend that Darth Maul wasn't prowling around the galaxy waiting to strike).

I based Obi-Wan's vow on the holy vows knights gave to their Order in medieval times. Satine's vow is based on the Mandalorian code.

9 People You Would Like to Get to Know Better.

Thanks for the tag, @merlyn-bane :)) I did this a couple weeks ago, but I will absolutely not ignore a tag

1. 3 ships: Obitine for sure. I also like Codywan a lot. My favorite guilty pleasure lately is Obikin...I mean I don't really see it canonically but I absolutely adore an AU or all the stuff that's being written lately. I think I enjoy the chaos. I will absolutely read other ships too, but those are my top 3.

2. first ever ship Vegeta and Bulma from Dragonball Z. That was my first ever fandom. I've written for them, also for a minor and relatively hated ship in One Piece, specifically Nami and Zoro. Crazy enough, those fics are getting a ton of attention lately because of the Netflix series, and people are like OMG I love their chemistry, and I'm sitting there like, see?

Last song: Don't Look Back in Anger by Oasis. I'm on a nostalgia kick lately.

Last movie: Shotgun Wedding. Ok, so hear me out, hubs and I were bored and had no expectations for this movie at all, I thought it'd be terrible. I really enjoyed it, it was such a hot mess and I could just shut off my brain and enjoy it for what it was.

Currently reading: I'm supposed to be reading Milkman by Anna Burns for book club. I haven't yet. I just downloaded the audiobook because Ijust don't have the capacity to read right now.

Currently consuming: Had scrambled eggs and homemade hash browns for dinner. Drinking coffee.

Currently craving: Sleep, a vacation, a way to shut my brain off. It's been a rough week. The whole conflict in Israel has been a huge topic this week at work. War and all its collateral damage is a heavy topic and it's been bringing up a lot of old stuff I'd rather keep buried because I have a job to do. I've also been fighting a cold the past couple weeks and my autoimmune condition has flared up I think as a result. So brain fog, pain and exhaustion are just a thing right now and it's really effected my motivation and ability to do anything fun like write. I hate to complain or rant about stuff like this but sometimes it just needs to come out.

There was some documentation, though he like the simplicity of Mandalorian weddings without the frills. He supposed that he was feeling the nostaglia since Anakin was planning the weddings to Padme, one on Mandalore and one on Naboo. (Obitine).

She came up beside him and wrapped her arms around him. A kiss was placed on his temple.

“I can’t believe we are old enough to have a child that’s getting married. When did we get so old?”

Silent Pain and Something New

#22: Two Miserable People Meeting at a Wedding Au 

This was requested by @iconicnameihope Sorry for the long delay! But I hope you do enjoy! Sorry for any grammar errors!

Once there was a time Obi-Wan loved weddings. He loved the idea of celebrating the day where you pledge your life to be tied with the person you loved the most, to cherish them in sickness or health. He once thought he found that person. He loved Satine with everything he had only for her to be taken away from him. It broke him in a way he thought he would never recover but he did in some ways, you can never truly get over something like a death of a loved one. He screamed, he pushed, and he grieved but he healed.

He never really did enjoy weddings after that, he couldn’t even find the motivation to pretend he liked them. When he was invited to Boil and Waxer’s wedding he was thrilled for them, but he had politely declined. He couldn’t, not with them, they deserved better then that.  

He missed their exchanged looks before they left him alone about it. He ended up going once little Numa flopped into his lap and started chatting excitedly about it. Then she had told him that she was flower girl and asked if he would be there to see her and he couldn’t say no.

That’s how he ended up here. Watching her walking up the aisle and throwing flower petals as if her life depended on it. It was incredibly amusing.

“She’s adorable, isn’t she?”

He glanced over to the stranger that was sitting beside him throughout the ceremony before he glanced away just as quickly. Oh dear, this man was handsome. “Yes, she is. She is taking her job quite seriously.”

“Makes it almost worth it for coming.” The man replied and Obi-Wan turned to make eye contact, missing Boil and Waxer make their way to the alter.

“Didn’t want to come either?”

The stranger huffed as he shook his head gently. “Not one for weddings.” He whispered with an apologetic grin on his lips. Obi-wan couldn’t stop the small grin as he leaned forward. “Here’s a secret. I don’t like them either.”

“I’m Cody Fett.” The man introduced, holding out his hand which Obi-Wan gently took in his own, marveling at the surprisingly soft skin. Even with the calluses it was soft.

“Obi-Wan Kenobi.”

They smiled at each other before they both fell silent, watching the ceremony unfold before them. Obi-Wan felt himself smile even as the heavy feeling worsened, as the two men both exchanged their vows to each other with tears in their eyes. He wondered what Cody’s story was for not liking weddings. Was it like him? He lost someone that he was going to spend his life with, a family member who had unfortunate luck, or maybe he just didn’t like romance itself. So many possibilities.

He watched Waxer and Boil hug little Numa with soft eyes. His chest grew tight, as if someone was pushing, making it difficult to breathe before everyone gathered around them offering congratulations. That was when he decided he needed to leave, the grief threatening to overwhelm him.    

“If you will excuse me, I just need some fresh air.” He whispered as he turned and walked away from the scene. His breath quickened as he quietly opened the door, closing it behind him quickly as he breathed in the cool fresh night air. His hands were shaking he noted as he ran a hand through his hair, leaning against a railing that marked out the pathway to the front steps of the building.

His eyes fluttered closed when he heard the door opening behind him and he cursed inside his head for not leaving when he could instead of standing in front of the door.

“Are you alright?”

He let out a breath as he turned towards Cody, a fake smile plastered onto his lips. “Ah, of course! Just needed some fresh air is all. Not really one for people.”

“Or is it because you don’t like weddings?”

Obi-Wan winced as he looked away. It was after all his fault for saying so earlier to the man that stood before him. “I just bad memories is all.”

“I get it. Trust me, I really do. If you want, we can just stay out here until you are ready to head back in?”

“And what? Hear all about my tragic story?” He couldn’t help but to huff out in annoyance, bringing his arms up to cross across his chest, holding his head up high. Cody just shrugged in front of him before he sat down on the steps looking up at him.

“Only if you want. It doesn’t matter to me.”

Obi-Wan hesitated as he blinked slowly. That was a first, even Anakin was always demanding stories from him when he offered to stay with him. He watched as Cody smile lightly, his head tilting to the side a little bit as he waited patiently for his answer, whether by action or by words. Slowly he let himself relax before he moved to sit down beside Cody, watching from the corner of his eye as the man beamed.

“I suppose if we hate weddings, we can get through this one together.” He commented, watching Cody nod with a hum.

“Sounds like a plan to me.”

They both smiled at each other before they lapsed into a comfortable silence. Obi-Wan could tell that a friendship will form by the end of tonight and they will share each other’s stories to each other eventually. But until then he was alright with just silence. If it also turned out to be something more in the future, well you won’t see him complaining one bit.

Question for my followers: now, I have two docs where Obi-Wan and Satine are marrying. One is "The Name Jinn" and the other is "The Unlawful Siege" (a sequel in the series "Secrets of the Negotiator" universe")

Now for the question: how do you guys think a Mandalorian/Jedi wedding will go? I don't want to the stereotypical Western wedding, but something unique. I am not against having both fics having similar wedding concepts.
