this is insane talk but do you have any info if there was beatles fanfic in the 60-70’s
i know there was one lingering around from the 90’s
There is no documented info of Beatles fanfiction existing.
Fanfiction didn't exist until Spock/Kirk, perhaps the first slash pairing in history. You can read about that here. Fanfiction surrounding bands didn't exist. No one among fans [likely] ever thought about writing fictional pieces with real people. If there was, I think it's more like someone writing about their crushes in their diaries or among friends.
It wasn't until the late 70s that people began writing zines for Led Zeppelin. Because it involved real people, Jimmy Page and Robert Plant had pseudonyms like "Trish" and "Alex". Information of that is here.
BUT I found a fanfiction of the Beatles from the 80s. It's called "With Strings Attached" and it's about the Beatles waking up on a strange place, C'hou, and are being attacked by two groups of aliens called the Ketafa and Baravada. It's been archived on the internet since 1997. You can read that here. It's not a slash fanfiction.

I'd be curious to hear your Ob-la-di Ob-la-da take lol
I claimed Ob-la-di Ob-la-da as a political song. No, I'm not kidding.
Obviously, Ob-la-di Ob-la-da isn't a protest song. It's a perky ska-style number about the happy, everyday life of an immigrant family. And it was released in 1968, when immigration had just become the most inflammatory topic in British politics.
In spring 1968, the UK government proposed a new Race Relations bill, making it illegal to refuse housing, employment, or public services to anyone on the grounds of race or national origin. It was a response to racism, particularly against recent immigrants, especially those from the Caribbean.
Cue a lot more racism, most notoriously from politician Enoch Powell, who gave what is still commonly referred to today as the "Rivers of blood" speech. Powell ranted about sending "the immigrant and immigrant-descended population" back to the countries they or their families had once come from. He was particularly freaked out by the idea that, having come to Britain, people would settle down and - horrors - have babies, eventually outnumbering the white population. Powell was sacked by his party the next day, but he sparked a horrible wave of racist protest and abuse.
Tumblr media
All this was brewing over the summer, as The Beatles worked on the White Album, and on this song. What is Ob-la-di Ob-la-da about? It's an everyday love story. The ska style frames Desmond and Molly as Jamaican - which, in a British context, strongly suggests that they're immigrants. The song builds a happy ending out of exactly the things that racists like Powell were terrified that immigrants would do. They work, get married, and have children, who grow up and help with the family business. Life going on, happy ever after.
The Beatles were certainly aware of the tensions sparked by Powell, immigration and the Race Relations Act; they were still talking about it, and trying to write a protest song about it, in the Get Back sessions in January 1969. Ob-la-di Ob-la-da doesn't talk directly about any of that. Its subjects - work, home, children - are the sort of thing that 1970s rock journalists would put down as Paul's normie bourgeois sensibilities.
But normie is where most people live. The song presents Desmond and Molly as deeply relatable. It assumes that their happy ending is something everyone can root for and sing along with. That is not an apolitical act, particularly not in Britain in 1968.
youtube
And people did sing along, in their millions. Ob-la-di was staggeringly popular. The Beatles didn't release it as a single in the UK or the US (though it topped charts in Australia, Japan and Europe). There were multiple competing cover versions. One by the band Marmalade went to No 1 in Britain, and sold about a million copies. Paul's own favourite cover was by The Bedrocks, whose members were all first-generation immigrants from the Caribbean.
(Obviously, there are other questions here about race, music, and appropriation; The Beatles, and most of the artists doing cover versions, are white people singing black music. Hello, history of western popular music.)
As I said, this isn't a protest song. But it has been sung in protest. @beatleshistoryblog found this great footage from a Women's March in London in 1971. Just listen to the first seconds: la la la la life goes on.

Portal to My Heart (Book 3) Chapter Ten
Loki x Reader
Chapter Ten: For the Plan
Summary: (Y/N), Timely, Ouroboros, and Casey work on the Throughput Multiplier, and Loki and Sylvie have a necessary talk.
(Y/N), Loki, and Mobius appeared in the War Room. Their regular clothes returned, and they looked around. Timely was already gone, obviously already exploring the TVA and slightly nervous to face them. They quickly walked outside and saw B-15 standing in front of Timely. He flinched upon seeing them.
“Just stop,” he said when they approached. “What do-What do you want from me?”
“Come with us, and we’ll show you,” said Loki.
Timely shook his head. “That didn’t sound as reassuring as you hoped it would.”
“Listen, Professor, I can only imagine what Renslayer and Miss Minutes have been saying about us, but it’s not true,” said Mobius. “Unless they said something good. Here’s the deal. You have to trust us, and we don’t have time.”
“I’m from Chicago, friend. The schadeocracy capital of the world. I don’t trust anyone,” said Timely.
“You can trust us. I swear,’ said (Y/N).
Timely hesitated and looked at her. He remembered very well what Miss Minutes had said about his variant offering control of the TVA to (Y/N). That had to mean something, and (Y/N) had spoken sensibly during the fight…so maybe he could trust her a little bit.
All of that consideration went out the window when he saw Sylvie. “O-Oh, it’s a party,” he said nervously. “Hello. The more the merrier. And you all want me. Miss Renslayer wants me. The effervescent clock-lady monster thing wants me. I should have some say.”
            “I agree,” said (Y/N). “I think—”
She winced and held her head. The constant buzz of her headache had strengthened suddenly, and at the same moment, the lights of the TVA flickered and a low rumble echoed through the halls.
            “Is that…my Loom?” asked Timely.
“Yes, that’s your Loom,” said Loki, but his focus was more on (Y/N) as she straightened and pressed her fingers to her temples.
She shook her head and focused. “Mr. Timely, you’re the only one who can fix it. Please. Just come and take a look.”
Timely swallowed nervously. “Well, la-di-da.” He agreed to it.
l
“Here, this way,” said Loki as they walked out of the library. (Y/N), Mobius, and Sylvie trailed behind them.
“So, I built all of this?” asked Timely, looking around himself. “Or, I did? Or I will and I did?”
“A version of you did,” said (Y/N) as it that any more sense.
“Can’t we just take a look around?” said Timely curiously.
“No,” said Sylvie. She wanted to keep a close eye on Timely and keep him on track so he couldn’t do any damage, which she feared.
“Trust me, it’s not that great, and we don’t have time,” said Mobius, redirecting him.
“We’ll give you a tour after we’re not all gonna die,” chirped (Y/N).
“Oh, alright,” said Timely as they walked into R and A where Casey and Ouroboros were hard at work trying to find their own solution.
“Victor, this is Casey and OB,” said Loki, gesturing to the pair.
            “OB?” Timely straightened in surprise.
            “Ouroboros,” clarified (Y/N).
            “Ouroboros?” repeated Timely excitedly.
            “Yeah, that’s me,” said Ouroboros.
“You wrote the TVA handbook,” said Timely. He pulled out his copy.
“Well…Yes, I did.” Ouroboros smiled shyly. “But I learned everything I know from a brilliant nineteenth-century named Victor Timely. If he’d had the resources, he would have been bigger than Einstein!”
“Oh, god, it’s cyclical. No Timely with Ouroboros’s handbook, no handbook with Timely.” If (Y/N) didn’t already have a headache, she would’ve developed one trying to figure that out.
Ouroboros’s eyes widened and stared at Timely. “What did you say your name was?”
“Victor,” said Timely shyly, and Ouroboros gasped excitedly.
Adorable. They’re fanboying over each other, thought (Y/N).
“Which one came first?” muttered Loki.
“It’s like a snake eating its own tail,” said Mobius.
That’s ironic, thought (Y/N). She glanced at Loki. “Hey, did you know that Norse mythology had the world serpent eating its own tail as one of your children? That and a giant wolf and an eight-legged horse.”
Loki frowned. “I think I’d know if I gave birth to such creatures. Just mortals telling tall tales.”
“Well, it’s not as if you haven’t done some strange things,” said (Y/N).
“Hey, focus,” said Mobius. “And please stop talking about that.”
“I really don’t want to imagine any sort of variants of us being involved with the antics of the Greek pantheon,” muttered Sylvie.
“Mr. Ouroboros, would you autograph my handbook?” asked Timely nervously.
“Only if you autograph mine,” said Ouroboros.
            They traded pens and handbooks.
“I was living in your engineering descriptions,” said Timely.
“Me? The way you explained the electric bypass system—”
            “The bypass,” said Timely, brightening.
            “—pure poetry.”
“Guys, sorry to break up the bromance, but can we fix now and sign later?” remarked Sylvie.
            “Yeah, let’s go,” said Mobius.
“OB, how’s it going?” asked (Y/N).
“We have a-We have a good plan,” said Ouroboros with not a little doubt.
“Okay,” said Loki, ready to hear.
“It’s a pretty good plan,” said Ouroboros. “We have a plan. Casey?”
Casey ran over and helped pull a sheet off a model of the Loom monitoring station and the Loom itself.
“Here’s a model I mocked up of the Loom. Forgive the shoddy and slapdash work,” said Ouroboros. “It’s not to scale. I only got one coat of paint on there. I haven’t been able to carve out figures to represent all of us.”
“The Loom,” said Timely, looking at the model replica.
“I’m honestly embarrassed that Victor’s here to see it,” said Ouroboros.
“He loves this, OB, don’t worry,” said (Y/N). “It looks great.”
“Alright. What’s the plan?” asked Loki.
“It’s simple.” Ouroboros put a little carving of the space(time?)suit on the pathway to the Loom. “One of will have to take our Throughput Multiplier down the gangway, load the Throughput Multiplier into the launcher. Then, they’ll need to hit the green button and launch it towards the Loom. It will dock with the Loom where it will scale the Loom’s capacity to manage the backlog of branches that was created when—” Ouroboros stared at Sylvie “—someone killed He Who Remains and released all those branches and ruined my life.”
Sylvie shrugged and put her hands on her hips. She was proud of what she’d done. It had been necessary.
“Hang on,” said Loki. “What’s the connection between the Throughput Multiplier and the Loom?”
“The Throughput Multiplier will widen the rings of the Loom to let more branches through,” said (Y/N) succinctly.
            “Exactly!” said Ouroboros.
“When did you learn that?” asked Mobius.
(Y/N) gestured to the window. “Before the blast doors closed, it was pretty damn obvious. You could see the branches squeezing in.” She huffed. “Probably hurts the Loom as much as my headache hurts me.” It’s like my brain is getting squeezed. “Anyways—” she shrugged “—more space means more branches can get through with the Loom handling it.”
“But there’s one gigantic problem,” said Ouroboros.
            “Big,” said Casey.
            “When isn’t there,” sighed (Y/N).
            “What’s that?” asked Loki.
“There is much, much more Temporal Radiation through here—” Ouroboros gestured to the gangway “—than when you went out there, Mobius.”
“Yeah, so much more,” added Casey.
“More?” Mobius shivered. Last time was bad enough with his skin possibly getting ripped off.
            “Yes,” said Ouroboros.
Mobius inhaled and exhaled. He coughed. “Okay, well, I mean, Loki’s really gonna have to hoof it then, right?”
“Hang on a second. Why is it suddenly me having to ‘hoof it?’ ” said Loki.
“Well, because it’s your turn,” said Mobius as if it was obvious.
“Says who? Why? Why is it suddenly me?” said Loki.
“Well, because this clearly isn’t me,” said Mobius, picking up the carving of the timesuit.
“Just because it isn’t you, it isn’t me,” said Loki.
“It’s got your shape,” said Mobius.
“It’s got my shape?” said Loki. “It’s a suit. Could be anybody.”
“I could go. I’m fast and good with technology,” offered (Y/N).
“No!” said Loki and Sylvie simultaneously.
“Uh…It doesn’t matter who it is. It’s doable,” said Ouroboros. “But the person just needs to be super fast.”
“Okay, great. So, what are we waiting for? Let’s do this,” said Sylvie, ready to get it over with and get Timely out of the TVA.
            “There’s another problem,” said Casey.
“Yay,” said (Y/N) sarcastically. “What now?”
“This whole plan is only theoretical because our Throughput Multiplier does not yet work,” admitted Ouroboros.
            “Why?” asked Loki.
“It doesn’t work,” said Sylvie sarcastically.
“Wait. Let me guess,” said Timely. “The Loom’s Temporal Decay outpaces your Multiplier’s throughput capabilities.”
“Every time, yeah. How did you know that?” asked Ouroboros.
“Because I had the same problem with my Loom,” said Timely. He pulled a small device from his satchel. “Until I made this. It’s a prototype. Still.” The device whirred to life and began spinning.
            “OB, it’ll work?” said Loki.
“Integrating them, if that would even work, would take a long time,” said Ouroboros.
“Yeah, a long time,” agreed Casey.
“Mr. Ouroboros, if anyone can, it’s us,” said Timely.
“Right.” (Y/N) nodded. “We can all work together.” She glanced at Loki, Mobius, and Sylvie. “Okay, well, maybe those three shouldn’t be as involved in the technology part, but they’re good moral support.”
“We’ll give you space to focus. I know these two can be distracting,” said Mobius, gesturing to Loki and Sylvie.
Loki looked offended, and Sylvie just rolled her eyes. But they got up and followed Mobius all the same. Loki cast a last look over his shoulder and smiled encouragingly at (Y/N) as she took her place beside the rest of the technologically skilled.
l
“Alright, let’s have a little pie while we wait,” said Mobius as he, Loki, and Sylvie left the others behind.
“Pie?” snapped Sylvie, turning on him.
            “Yeah,” said Mobius.
“What is the matter with you?” questioned Sylvie. “You dragged me back here begging for help, so you must have some idea of what’s happening. Everything is turning to shit, and you want to leave it to them while we go and have some pie?” Mobius stepped back at her harsh words. “Great idea, Mobius.”
            “Sylvie, wait,” said Loki sharply.
“No, I won’t wait,” said Sylvie fiercely. “Come on. Let’s go and get some pie. Why not? It’s a great idea. Does it matter that the branches are dying?! Clocks don’t tick at the TVA, do they?” She took a step forward. “You found out you’re a variant, and you haven’t even looked, have you?” Mobius looked down. “It’s just another bad day at the office for you. Timelines are just lines on a monitor. Doesn’t matter if a few disappear. As always, (Y/N) is the only one of you who actually cares for anything,” she spat. “Because she sees those timelines as hers. You haven’t even bothered to look at which one is yours. Who cares if a few just disappear?” She glared at him and Loki. “Enjoy your pie.” She turned and walked away. Mobius stood there silently, and all Loki could do was squeeze his shoulder and follow Sylvie to speak to her again.
l
“You’ve got to be kidding me.” Sylvie cursed as she found herself in the pie room. She turned to leave and came face-to-face with Loki. “I took a wrong turn,” she said shortly. “I didn’t plan on coming to pie land.” She watched as Loki sighed and walked farther into the room. They circled each other silently. “Say it then.”
“About Mobius…” began Loki. The Loom and the TVA rumbled around them. “He’s just trying to see in the dark like the rest of us. And so we’re clear, I asked for your help, and you walked away.”
            “Just so we’re clear, no, I didn’t,” retorted Sylvie. “I’m here, aren’t I? Again!”
“You’re only here because you couldn’t kill him,” pointed out Loki.
“Yeah, I couldn’t kill him,” said Sylvie. “Couldn’t do it.”
“Because (Y/N) is right,” said Loki. “Timely isn’t He Who Remains.”
Sylvie swallowed. “He just looked so scared. He Who Remains wasn’t scared.” She paused. “Maybe he was, and I just didn’t notice.”
Loki was silent for a moment. “Some years ago, my brother was banished from Asgard and sent to Earth. And when he came back, he was different. Changed, somehow. I thought it was weakness. I mocked him.”
“Soft gets you killed,” said Sylvie.
“Listen, Sylvie, you spared Timely’s life, and because of that, the TVA and those timelines will survive,” said Loki. “Those people will survive. You spared their lives, too.”
“You’re talking like (Y/N),” said Sylvie, trying to scoff but unable to sound anything but burdened. “You put a lot of faith in her.” Sylvie’s gaze turned hard. “But don’t forget Dox. She’s part of the TVA, too. All those dead branches, those dead people, that’s the TVA’s fault.”
“What about those branches that are still living?” said Loki. “That’s because of Mobius and B-15. And OB and Casey. And (Y/N).”
“What if you’re wrong? What if you’re wrong to believe that this place can be any better?” demanded Sylvie. “What if I was wrong to spare him? It would be easier to burn this place down and start from scratch.”
“Sure. Burn it down. Easy,” said Loki. “Annihilating is easy. Razing things to the ground is easy. I learned that long ago. But trying to fix what’s broken is hard. Hope is hard.”
“Okay, so Timely can save the TVA,” said Sylvie tiredly. “Then, we hope that the TVA turns into something good. Then, we hope that Timely doesn’t turn into He Who Remains or someone worse. That’s a lot of hoping, Loki. I didn’t have you down for an optimist.”
“I’ve never been one,” admitted Loki. “But there are some people who have helped me see there is more than pain and loneliness in this world.”
“(Y/N),” said Sylvie. She sighed. “(Y/N) is…Look, she’s just one person. The TVA is so much bigger than that.”
“But you know that she would die before she let anyone take free will again,” said Loki.
“She wants the TVA to exist,” said Sylvie.
“Because if people die, they can’t live free lives,” said Loki. “And you have to admit that she’s right.”
Sylvie was silent before speaking. “How does she find it so easy? To see what’s right?” She looked at Loki. “It’s always so hard for us, but she seems to do it so easily.”
“I don’t know,” said Loki honestly. “But I’ve seen her fight for what’s right, for freedom, time and time again. It doesn’t matter if it’s me, He Who Remains, or anything else. She will always stand to give as many people as she can the freedom to live.” Loki smiled. “It goes beyond a want. It’s what drives her. It’s like her heart itself is made of freedom and longs to share itself with others.” Loki’s gaze met Sylvie’s. “Including us. She freed us.”
Sylvie scoffed, but it sounded more like a sob at the truth. “I got my freedom.”
“From the TVA. But (Y/N) saved us from ourselves.” Loki’s eyes softened as he thought of (Y/N). “She showed me that I was just a man, but that was enough. She treated me as she treated everyone else, and yet I never felt so seen. After eons of being in my brother’s shadow, unwanted and overlooked, I was seen. (Y/N) freed me from shackles of my own creating.” Loki looked at Sylvie. “And she freed you from loneliness.” Sylvie scoffed and looked away, but Loki just smiled. “She did the same with me. We were both solitary creatures, but she showed us companionship. Sylvie, we may have free will, but our hearts are free because of (Y/N). That is why I know that free will won’t fall again. Because people will always rise up for freedom. And (Y/N) will be at the forefront of that fight.”
            “You love her.”
Sylvie’s words hung in the air, spoken quietly and yet carrying such power.
“I do,” said Loki. He smiled. “And you love her, too.”
“Yeah. Yeah, I do.” Sylvie sighed and felt her heart clench. “We’re fucked.”
Loki chuckled. “We were from the moment we met her.” He smiled. “But I don’t regret it for a second.”

Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da: The Beatles x Reader
Chapter 2
What happened? Everything felt hazy and fractured. She was laying on something soft, a bed perhaps. Sitting up, she looked around. Everything looked odd. It reminded her of what her grandparents had described their houses looked like. Colorful wallpaper, strange furniture, and odd clothing that was hanging in the open closet. She got up to look through the selection. Dresses of all different colors plagued the interior room. Red with white polka-dots, the palest pink, and a housewife's aprons littered the closet. It made her heart skip a beat. Where was she? Where was Paul? She remembered him saying that she could save the Beatles, but what did he mean? Looking down she noticed her outfit had changed to a light blue dress. How did that happen? Suddenly a knock came from downstairs. She rushed downstairs to answer it. Opening the door revealed a skinny, handsome man. His eyes were brown and he had a very particular angular face. His dark brown hair glistened in the light. She suddenly realized she was in an apartment of some sort.
"Hiya there I'm George!" He smiled, handing her a flyer. "My band and I are playing this weekend and we're trying to build some awareness." It was strange seeing George so young and alive. He had passed before she was even born.
"You're George Harrison, right?" She asked, reading the flyer. He nodded.
"In the flesh!" He remarked, in a jittery way. "You remembered my name from the last few gigs?" He looked at the ground shyly.
"Of course! You're the lead guitarist! You know, in the Beatles--" wait what year was it? Were they still the Quarrymen? Honestly, she didn't know a lot about the Beatles. Obviously, this was during a time when they weren't crazy famous.
"You seem like a true fan!" He laughed with a slight blush. "What's your name?"
"I'm Y/N." She twisted her hair shyly.
"That's a beautiful name." He remarked with a slight smile. Looking into his eyes, her heart fluttered.
"Will I see you later?" She asked, smiling at him.
"I have a feeling we will. I hope maybe the boys will like you..." He said, turning to leave.
"The boys?" She muttered, closing the door. Was she going to meet the Beatles? Is this what Paul wanted? He barely knew her and now she was back in the 1960s! Deciding to go to their show, she checked the time. The band started at 7 pm and it was currently 4 pm. She had some time and quickly got to work on her appearance. Anything she could find she applied. Makeup, hair products, and so on. She checked the time again. 6 pm time to go. Scavenging for a key, she locked her apartment door. Heading out, she checked the flyer for directions. She had no idea where anything was, so she asked around the best she could. Finally, she arrived at the restaurant they would be playing in. George was standing with three other men looking around. He quickly noticed her. He waved childishly. The others got on and waved at her.
"Hiya, Y/N!" George yelled over the crowd. Smiling, she walked over.
"Hey, George." She softly said. The other boys were staring at her wide-eyed.
"Did you score a girlfriend, George?" The round-faced one laughed. He had dark eyes and hair. His eyes were the shape of almonds.
"Shut up, John!" George crossed his arms blushing. The others snickered. John smiled at Y/N as he looked her up and down.
"Haven't seen you around before," John smirked. She rolled her eyes.
"Guess I only caught your eye now." She joked, with a small laugh. John's face became stern before he burst out laughing.
"You got a good one, George!" He bellowed. George blushed harder.
"She's not my bird!" He chirped. The others laughed harder. Taking a glance at the other two boys, she saw a familiar face. A young Paul McCartney was smiling and laughing along with who she assumed was Ringo Starr. Ringo had the bluest eyes and rings on his fingers. Paul was bright and cheery with a certain glow to him.
"You must be John Lennon, Paul McCartney, and Ringo Starr." She smirked, looking at the other three. Their faces had a look of shock.
"She's a true fan!" Ringo cried. He jumped up with glee. Of course, she was a true fan...at least for knowing their names. Paul looked at Y/N suspiciously, though he hid it through a warm smile.
"We got to start soon." He said, turning to leave. The others nodded.
"See you after the show?" George asked, with a cute smile.
"Of course!" She said, going over to an open table. Paul waited for George to catch up to them. He glanced at her with curiosity. Did he somehow recognize her? Were the rules of time travel, young Paul and old Paul shared memories? It was confusing. Putting it off her mind, she waited for the band to begin playing. Girls lined up around the stage excitedly. A young woman around Y/N's age sat at her table.
"You a fan?" She asked, taking a sip of her drink. Y/N shrugged wondering what to say.
"I would like to believe so." She responded as the girls began to scream. Oh, no here they come. Ringo twirled his drumsticks in his hand, Paul warmed up his left-handed bass, John adjusted the microphone, and George played a quick rift on the guitar. John announced the song before he started singing.
"Oh darling, please believe me I'll never do you no harm Believe me when I tell you I'll never do you no harm..."
The girls kept screaming.
"Which one do you like the best?" The woman asked, placing her head in her hand. Thinking for a moment, Y/N realized she couldn't make a good judgment yet.
"I'm not sure..." She trailed off. The woman laughed.
"Oh, come on! Which one is your favorite?" The woman pestered her. Pressing her lips together, she said the first name that came to mind.
"Paul." She said, plainly. The woman smiled.
"He is cute." The woman looked at Paul with dreamy eyes. Y/N looked at the band. Paul got her eye. He looked at her, still suspicious. Seeing the other girls screaming at him, he laughed a little to himself. He looked back at her and winked. The girls immediately turned to look at her. They all screamed with jealousy making Y/N jump back.
"He winked at you!" One of them screamed.
"How could he wink at her!? I'm far prettier!" Another said.
"Ladies please, I just wanted to wink at my lovely gal." He sneered. What was his deal? The girls stormed around her. They were yelling questions and the woman next to her stared shocked at her. George noticed the commotion and after their song, he got down to pull the ladies away from her. John and Ringo helped as well. George glared at Paul.
"What were you thinking!?" George spat at Paul. Flicking the saliva off his face, Paul crossed his arms in defense.
"You're broad was distracting me," Paul said his face tightening. John's fist clenched.
"You could have asked her to leave after we finished the song, or ignored her! If you want to be in this business you can't just make a fuss because one girl is distracting you!" John snapped at Paul. Ringo rolled his eyes, trying his best to stay out of it. The other three continued to yell at each other. Y/n stood there, waiting for a chance to speak.
"Alright," Ringo finally said. The others kept yelling. "I said, 'Alright!'" He pushed the group apart. They stopped to look at him. "We're not breaking up the band over one small fluke!"
"S-sorry." George hunched below the others.
"Sorry, Ringo," John said, looking toward his friend.
"Don't apologize to me," Ringo said, looking at Y/N.
"Yeah, sorry..." Paul muttered. They turned towards Y/N.
"We're kind of crazy, aren't we?" John laughed looking at his friends. George giggled his heart out while Ringo slapped him on the back. Paul stood distant from the group.
"I guess you are." Y/N laughed. The girls were still around them, staring.
"That's it for tonight everyone!" John yelled for all to hear. People started shuffling out of the room. The guys went to put their instruments away, except for Paul.
"I'm sorry if I distracted you," Y/N said, walking up to him. He glared but cooled down after a moment.
"It's not your fault, Luv. I just needed to blow off some steam I guess." He mumbled. She looked at him worried. Was she causing the Beatles to break up even sooner?
"Do you want to talk about it over dinner or something?" She asked. Oh, no why did she ask that? It sounded like a-
"Are you asking me on a date?" Paul asked, with a slight smile. They both blushed as red as roses.
"If that's what you want it to be." She smirked, winking at him. He paused with a smile.
"See you on Saturday at 1?" He asked, heading towards the band.
"It's a date." She laughed.
"A date." He smiled.

Jane Birkin, actor and singer, dies aged 76
Best known for the sexually explicit 1969 hit Je t’aime … moi non plus, she found fame in her adopted France
The British-born actor and singer Jane Birkin has been found dead at her home in Paris, the French culture ministry said on Sunday.
Birken, 76, was best known overseas for her 1969 hit in which she and her lover, the late French singer-songwriter Serge Gainsbourg, sang the sexually explicit Je t’aime … moi non plus.
Birkin found fame in her adopted France, catapulted into the public eye by her turbulent relationship with Gainsbourg. Her heavily accented French became her personal style signifier.
She crossed the channel in 1968 at the age of 22 to star in a film alongside Gainsbourg, who was 18 years her senior. It was the start of a 13-year relationship that made them France’s most famous couple, in the spotlight as much for their bohemian and hedonistic lifestyle as for their work.
The doe-eyed Birkin, with her soft voice and androgynous silhouette, quickly became a sex symbol, recording the steamy Je t’aime … moi non plus with a growling Gainsbourg. Banned on radio in several countries and condemned by the Vatican, the song was a worldwide success.
“He and I became the most famous of couples in that strange way because of Je t’aime and because we stuck together for 13 years and he went on being my friend until the day he died. Who could ask for more?” Birkin told CNN in 2006.
“So Paris became my home. I’ve been adopted here. They like my accent,” she said.
Birkin was born in London on 14 December 1946 to an actor mother and naval officer father. At 17, she married the James Bond composer John Barry, with whom she had a daughter, Kate, but the marriage lasted only three years.
She made waves in her film debut in 1966 with a full frontal nude scene in the swinging sixties classic Blow-Up by Michelangelo Antonioni.
After meeting Gainsbourg, 18 years her senior, in Paris on the set of a romantic comedy – he was her co-star – she moved to France permanently. Their musical and romantic relationship was tempestuous. During one of their raging rows, Birkin launched herself into the River Seine after throwing a custard pie in Gainsbourg’s face.
They had a daughter, Charlotte, who became a hugely successful actor and singer.
Birkin finally walked out on France’s favourite bad boy in 1980 and went on to to blaze her own trail. In cinema, she branched out from more ditsy roles to arthouse productions, gaining three nominations at the Césars – France’s Oscars – starting with La Pirate in 1985.
In her about 70 films she has been directed by France’s leading directors, including Bertrand Tavernier, Jean-Luc Godard, Alain Resnais, James Ivory and Agnès Varda.
Tumblr media
A chronic alcoholic, Gainsbourg died of a heart attack in 1991 aged 62. A few years earlier, he was in the audience to hear Birkin perform her first solo concert at the age of 40 at the Bataclan theatre in Paris.
In 1998 came her first record without Gainsbourg, Á la Légère. But she repeatedly returned to his repertoire, singing his hits around the world accompanied by a full orchestra, including in 2020 in New York where she performed with Iggy Pop.
The English rose of French chanson became something of a national treasure, who preserved the accent that made the French swoon throughout her life and an endearing air of fragility.
Her life was marked by tragedy, with her eldest daughter Kate Barry, a photographer, apparently committing suicide in 2013. She had leukaemia in the late 1990s and in 2021 suffered a minor stroke.
With her flared jeans, mini-dresses and messy bangs, Birkin was the ultimate It girl in the 1970s. In 1984, Hermès named one of its handbags after her. She was made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2001 for her services to acting and British-French cultural relations.
Besides Charlotte and Kate, she had another daughter, the singer Lou Doillon, from her 13-year relationship with the French director Jacques Doillon.
RIP Jane

HOLY FUCK. Okay I just realised something. So, Dream came into existence with the first living thing, right? So, he'll be taken out of existence when the last living thing accepts his sisters' gift. Hob has said many a time that he'll probably never ask for death (lower case d), but "never" means "forever" so it probably just means until he has done everything there is to be done and finally satiated looks to discover life's final mystery. So, Hob the final living thing, finally accepts Death's (capital D) gift, in doing so is also the one who lays Dream down to sleep. Hob for the first time in his very long lives life feeling satisfied, feeling tired. Dream (be it Daniel or another facet) feeling this in him and calling Death. Dream walking with them until they reach the Sunless lands. Hob kissing Dream goodbye, Death hugging Hob and kissing Dream on his forehead. Hob entering the sunless lands willingly, stealing one last glace at his lover before he enters, and Dream leaves.
Also, I know this is a tonal shift, but I like the idea of Death humming Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da to herself after collecting Destiny as she packs down the universe.
I mean yeah I might as well start today weeping XDDD
I like to think that when Death does finally spin down the universe it's just a precursor to things eventually spinning back up again. Everything is a cycle of change and death! It's a nice thought that eventually, when the new universe makes itself and there are new Endless to watch over it, that some version of Dream and some version of Hob would find each other again...

4, 10, and 29 for the ask game please? :3
What is my favourite book?
This one is really difficult -- I've read so many good books (and more than a few bad ones lol). But C.S. Lewis' "The Chronicles of Narnia" pretty much introduced me to the fantasy genre, and I still love reading it, especially "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe".
What is a fact about me that no one would believe?
Okay, a second unbelievable fact about me:
Looking up on a clear day freaks me out after a few minutes -- I get the overwhelming sense that if I don't look down I'll fall up into the sky. I get the same feeling looking up on a clear night. It's looking into infinity -- scary as hell. If gravity fails me, I'll fall forever.
Favourite song lyrics right now?
The Beatles' "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da" -- especially the reprise of the last verse when Paul McCartney messes up, accidentally turning the song into possibly the first musical celebration of trans identity to become a hit! 😆
Thanks for asking!

is it true that george like was the first to speak the word grotty, i know the writers came up with it, but was it an actual thing
It's true! Screenwriter Alun Owen coined "grotty" and then George would be the first (apart from Owen and maybe others working on set) to say it in A Hard Day's Night (1964). George actually mentions this in The Beatles Anthology (2003).
“There was one piece of dialogue where I say, ‘Oh, I’m not wearing that — that’s grotty!’ Alun Owen made that up; I didn’t. People have used that word for years now. It was a new expression: grotty — grotesque. I suppose he thought that being from Liverpool, he knew our kind of humour.“
It was never added to George's vocabulary after that though. He actually expressed some distaste in an 1989 (transcript) interview with Mark Rowland. From George Harrison on George Harrison: Interviews and Encounters (2020) by Ashley Kahn.
Rowland: But was there any sense, when you were involved in that, was there any spark that went off at that time when you were doing those films? Harrison: Oh, yeah. You know that film Help! was really . . . we were on the road anyway, and they just got this writer who was from the same place or same area as we were from, a playwright, and he just sort of hung out with us for two days and then went off and wrote it. And then when we came to shoot it, we said, “I’m not saying that. I wouldn’t say that.” And we just changed it into what we would say. Not in every instance—because I said a word which became like a . . . you know, people still use it to this day, and it was the dumbest word: “grotty.” But that was the scriptwriter wrote that. [Pretending to sulk.] I didn’t want to say it, but I said it anyway. Rowland: [Chuckles.] And now you’re stuck with it. Harrison: Well, I’m not stuck with it, but some people are.

9 and 19 for the asks :)
9. What do you think of Paul's lyrics?
I think it depends on the song, but overall I like them. In general, I am not the type of person who cares about a song's lyrics all that much. They just need to fit well enough, though if they're really good they can elevate the song. So I can love a song like "Ode to a Koala Bear" even though it doesn't offer much lyrically. I know stuff like "She's My Baby" isn't very good, but I still really like that song. I think he has a few lyrics that are so bad that they make the song worse, like with "The Other Me." "Give Ireland Back to the Irish" is atrocious.
But I think, at large, I am a bigger fan of his lyrics than most people because I absolutely adore a lot of the "silly" Beatles songs that some people deride. I adore "Lovely Rita" and I think the lyrics are absolutely brilliant. The cheeky lyrics coupled with that melody -- it's incredible because they make you love her. You love that meter maid. The melody loves her and the lyrics love her and they make you love her. Similar thing with "When I'm Sixty-Four," "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da," etc. I love all these songs that celebrate loving the ordinary world. So I am on board with the whole finding meaning in silly love songs thing. Not silly at all.
And songs like "Hey Jude," "For No One," "Maybe I'm Amazed," "Another Day," etc., are just obviously lyrically great. Though apparently "Another Day" was seen as lyrically worthless by critics when it first came out, which means they must not have fucking listened to the song and thought that he was just singing "la la la, everything is great, it's just Another Day." Like, learn some basic reading comprehension lmao.
19. Was John's activism pure narcissism or simply misguided?
Um, neither? I don't think these are the only two options. I think there was a genuine passion there, and I think framing it as narcissism or completely misguided does a disservice to his advocacy. That being said, I also don't think he was this, like, peace-driven hero who found his true purpose in activism. There was definitely a personal desire for self-reinvention and attention, but I wouldn't call that "pure narcissism." I'm sure some of it was performative. And I'm sure some of it was misguided insofar as it really didn't make an impact and was just kind of dumb. But I think it would be wrong to completely dismiss the fact that he made peace activism more high-profile and popular.

4, 20, 40 :3
Thank you so much for your ask <34
4. That's actually a hard question since I actually don't have any least favorite songs from any of my favorite bands but to answer this I'd pick any famous songs by The Rolling Stones such as I Can't Get No Satisfaction, Start Me Up, Miss You etc etc (this could also applied to The Beatles for their track Hey Jude or Ob La Di Ob La Da as I can't stand those tracks too). These are so far 2 of my favorite bands with songs I would skip while the rest I have no problem with any of their tracks
20. All I could think about is Ebony And Ivory by Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder because this song was considered to be the most annoying, worst, boring song of all times (even my dad said that this song sounds extremely bland too) but I love it since it's one of my favorite song from my childhood
40. Mirage by Camel and Lark Tongue In Aspic by King Crimson 😁

Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da: The Beatles x Reader
Chapter 8
"You're taking me out?" Paul asked as Y/N took his hand and guided him out of the club he was performing in.
"It'll be good for you." She smiled as they made their way down the sidewalk toward a small park. Paul dragged behind her with a confused expression.
"Where are you taking me?" He asked, taking glances at the random people who stared at them.
"To the park." She replied, hastily. The entrance to the park was nearly in sight. This had to work. She knew it. With her time in the past, the least she could do was help her new friends.
"The park?" Paul repeated as they came upon the entrance. The sky was warm with color and children could be heard playing in the long green grass. They went in and Y/N jumped up on top of a picnic table.
"Alright, McCartney! We're getting that song today!" Y/N declared, stomping her foot on the top of the table. Paul looked at her confused as ever.
"Song? George told you about it, huh?" Paul asked with a smile.
"Why wouldn't he?" She smirked, putting her hands on her hips.
"True," Paul replied, jumping up on the table with her. "So, what's the plan?"
She shrugged.
"Just look around and see if you find something." She suggested. Paul peered around the park. Y/N waited, impatiently.
"The problem..." Paul began, "Is that it's a love song."
"And?" She asked, not quite understanding why this would be an issue.
"I don't have anyone to share that with," Paul explained, holding his head in his hands. "The song doesn't feel genuine."
"Why not write a song about someone you made up? Like your dream date, or something like that." Y/N suggested. Paul shook his head, disappointedly.
"That's not how I see things, luv." He replied with a slight smirk. He looked into her eyes with deep agony. He was in song purgatory.
"Sorry..." She said, looking at the ground. A brightness glowed in his eye.
"Well, actually you may have just sparked something. I need to get back to the band!" Paul said suddenly as he dashed off the picnic table. Y/N stood there shocked by his sudden urgency.
"Okay! I'll be at my job or something!" She called after him. Honestly, she was frazzled by the encounter. It all had happened so quickly. Did Scott need any help this late? It wouldn't hurt to check. Y/N made her way to the music shop that stood dormant. The lights were off and she couldn't see Scott.
"Y/N?" A voice asked behind her. She spun around to see Scott with a confused look. Beside him was a dark-haired broad who looked rather displeased with her.
"Hey, Scott. I was just wondering if you needed any help with the shop. I was just bored..." Y/N explained with a shaky grin. Scott smiled while the broad gave her the sharpest glare.
"I appreciate it." Scott remarked, "I don't need any extra help right now, but the offer was reassuring. I thought you were coming to quit." He was flustered and sweating. It was as if the sun had been beaming down at him.
"Oh well, then I'll be on my way." She replied and started making her way down the block.
"Wait!" The broad shouted, "Why don't you introduce me, Scott." Face lighting up with horror, Scott sheepishly grinned.
"Uh, Shirley this is Y/N." Scott motioned towards both of them.
"A pleasure." Shirley hissed, her eyes locked on Y/N. Giving the best smile she could, she nodded at her.
"Very." She replied, trying to avoid her gaze.
"Well, it would be best if we were on our way." Scott tried to steer the girls apart.
"By the way, I thought you could come to the next Beatles performance. It will get you out of the house!" Y/N said quickly. The whole point of inviting him originally was to get him a girlfriend, but he had found one.
"Oh, cool! I'll be sure to check it out." Scott said as he and Shirley walked away. With the situation being awkward and embarrassing enough, Y/N went home to her apartment. As she walked up the stairs to her home, she thought of what Paul was doing. She mostly just wanted a distraction before the embarrassing moment would come flooding back into her mind. Reaching her apartment, she noticed the door was unlocked. She had locked it, hadn't she? Y/N slowly cracked the door open, who knows who was in there? Then she heard a loud bang! The sound of the harmonic rang through the walls. Wait...this was...
"Love, love me do You know I love you I'll always be true"
It had worked! Somehow she had gotten the song into Paul's head. He must have rushed back to try and put it together with John and the other lads. Even with all of the charm of these performers, she couldn't help but wonder...HOW IN THE WORLD THEY GOT INTO HER APARTMENT?! Being the polite guest she was, she let them finish.
"What in the world are you doing in my apartment!?" Y/N asked, charmed, but still nervous by their entry.
"We came here to play you a song, Luv," Paul remarked cheerfully. A childish smile was spread across his face. John was blowing into his harmonic while George played a guitar rift alongside him.
"How did you get in?" She asked.
John stopped blowing into his harmonica.
"Ringo was a pretty good lock picker back in the day," John exclaimed with a chuckle. The band laughed at his explanation. It made her smile, even if it was a crime. (That night she rethought the remark, nevertheless).
"Who knew that Paul would come up with this song just by seeing you stand on a table!" George laughed. Paul turned bright red.
"George!" He hissed, but the band laughed immensely. She snickered a bit too. The others began to pack up their things. Paul walked over to Y/N. "Would you want to go to a dance with me?" He asked, a glowing smile.
"You know I would."
"WHAT IS ALL THAT RACKET????" A voice called from down the hall.
"Good job guys."
