Found a bunch of old CD mixes that I made throughout my teenage years, and I put this playlist together for myself. Then I kinda wondered if anyone else would like it, so I'm sharing it here. No particular order, so random play is recommended.

So this is my Wednesday fleamarket finds. It started out basic. When I found Super Troopers 2 and an empty Switch case, both for $2.00. After that I found, quite a bit of nice stuff. An old lady had a table full of goods. Many in bad condition. But I still got decent stuff after checking them. Some good blurays! I've been holding back on buying a few of these new in hopes of finding them used. And patience paid off! And I also got some videogames too, a few have outer water damage and a few dusty. But I had hopes I would get a deal on them. I guess I did, as I paid $26 dollars for all.

Another seller had good media this week. He had like 5 or 6 milk crates full of music cds. A lot of people were going through them. And I saw they got good tunes. I took a look through one, and I grabbed a bunch of Electronic trance/dance music. Years ago I had some of these, but they got old and worn-out. But I recognized the font. So yeah I got them. And going through more boxes, I picked up some manga and comics. I tried real hard to find volume three of that manga, but no luck. I also found a Tokyo shock dvd. Those are weird movies but fun to collect. Speaking of weird. I also got a VHS of Saturday morning fox kids/ Saban Entertainment Beetle Borgs. That show was quite goofy, especially since they didn't have much to copy from it's Japanese source material. And all of this fine media cost me $23 dollars.

My man from the 90’s electronica scene, Oakenfold himself from the soundtrack of one of the grandparents of the cyberpunk genre, in this case from Appleseed by Shirow Masamune.  There's been about three or four Appleseed releases, dating back to the late 80's where a cel animated OAV was done. This piece is from a second feature release, done entirely in cel-shaded CGI.

This bit is from from the opening scene where Deunan is collected by ESWAT.  More more accurately, when she was extracted from an active war zone and being chased by aggressors in land-mate cyber-armor and 2 full-on tanks with battlemech-grade gatling autocannons on them. The sort that can saw a building in half at its base. A fully cybered V from the game? People like her WISH they were Deunan Knute.

BONUS: Here's the opening scene I'm on about. Honestly it's brutal and still impresses to this day. Shirow never fails to deliver.

Throwback: Simply Red-Something Got Me Started

Mick Hucknall, Simply Red's frontman and leader, wrote "Something Got Me Started" with the band's keyboardist Fritz McIntrye while traveling in 1990. The song appeared as the first single from the band's fourth album Stars. Hucknall's feverish soul and the jazzy arrangement were a clear hit on the dancefloor and charts.  Simply Red's previous album, A New Flame, achieved worldwide success for the British natives thanks to their inimitable soul and Hucknall's collaboration with Motown songwriter Lamont Dozier. He wanted Stars to pull from dance music because this style was charting courtesy of groups like Soul II Soul. Hucknall ensured "Something's Got Me Started'" reached dance and club audiences by having Chicago producer Steve "Silk" Hurley and English producer Paul Oakenfold remix it. Their remixes got the single on the UK and European dance charts. Stars went multi-platinum in the UK and was the best-selling album in 1991 and 1992. "Something's Get Me Started" was re-recorded for Simply Red's 2005 ninth studio album Simplified. The band released their 13th album, Time in 2023.
