Unofficial Gay Fates 2.1.0 Is here! This update adds in 64 new supports, as well as implemented the new Custom Endings I showed off before! This release features 105 custom endings.

Big thanks to sketchi, who not only commissioned the code patch for the endings from Tildehat, but also wrote quite a few of the ones in this update! Also shoutouts to Tru and Tsunny, who wrote most of the other endings implemented, as well as their usual help coding supports.

Speaking of coding supports, this update would not have remotely as many new supports were it not for Cherrycrow, Mathcat, and Sylvie, who did the bulk of the coding work this update!

Entry 98: Ad Hoc World Building

I would like to make a retraction. Last time, I said Corrin and Azura could just return to Valla using the lake warps. This is incorrect. In the Conquest chapter The Black Pillar, it is mentioned that only Corrin and Azura can use this warp. For some reason. That is never explained. Presumably because they’re from Valla, but why that matters I do not know.

This leads me to a big problem I have with this game. Its plot and word building are ad hoc, made up on the spot to smooth over plotholes. The game needs Corrin to return to Valla via the canyon later, so it has some random line about the lakes not working. It can’t have Azura explain the plot, so there’s some dumb curse that prevents her from saying anything. The game needs Corrin, and only Corrin, to know about Garon, so there’s a random crystal ball that breaks immediately.

It’s bad writing.

Revelation Chapter 9: Wanderer

The chapter begins with Garon monologuing about how Corrin knows about the game’s plot now. Fortunately, his evil plans will kill Corrin soon enough mwahaha. Lissa overhears this and decides to tell Xander. Camilla stops Elise and encourages her to hang back and watch how things unfold, even though she admits that Garon isn’t acting right.

Corrin’s team climbs up the Eternal Stairway and runs into some Faceless. Who happen to actually be Wind Tribe soldiers, because this plotline was recycled from Birthright. Kaze kills them, Iago laughs, yada yada yada. When Corrin arrives at the Wind Tribe, the game says that Kaze only beat them up. With a knife. Something tells me they aren’t getting up anytime soon. Fuga shows up and says he heard Corrin wants to destroy both Nohr and Hoshido. Fuga doesn’t believe Corrin’s claim that the real bad guy is an evil dude no one knows about that she can’t tell anyone about, because Fuga isn’t a fucking moron.

Rinkah shows up randomly and joins Corrin because of her life debt. Fuga decides to give Corrin a test to see if they’re trustworthy. Now, the opening cutscene of this chapter uses the map from Birthright Chapter 9, and the plot is largely recycled from that chapter, so naturally the fight is a recreation of Conquest Chapter 20. Welcome back to Fuga’s Wild Ride, fuckers!

After the battle, talks about Sumeragi and Yato and how it can kill gods and gives us Hayato and sends us to go to Izumo blah blah blah we’ve seen this before.

Support: Keaton/Nyx

C: Keaton tells Nyx to eat meat so she grows up big and strong.

B: Keaton brings her pork. Nyx explains that she is cursed and will not grow up. Keaton is confused by where all the food goes. Does he not understand excrement?

A: Nyx explains her entire backstory. Keaton finally gets it. He tells her she can act like a kid and not get in trouble, something she has no desire to do.

S: Keaton asks what Nyx wants more than anything. Nyx says an adult's body and a normal life. Keaton proposes.

Review: Keaton is painfully dumb in this one.

Support: Kaze/Xander

C: Xander and Kaze discuss their first meeting. Xander reveals he was hesitant to kill Kaze because executing such a graceful man would have been dishonorable.

B: Xander challenged Kaze to a duel. During their duel, Xander notices that Kaze's expression has changed since their original fight. Kaze explains he is now fighting for companions, instead of his country, which is easier. Apparently, he wasn't fighting for companions in Hoshido.

A: Kaze and Xander's duel ends in a draw. Xander admits that, unlike Kaze, he has doubt in his actions. Kaze helps Xander push forward on the path he believes in (the path that leads to Kaze's friends, brother, and country dying at Xander's hand). The two warriors say it has been an honor to fight together.

Review: Not bad, but I was left wanting more.

Support: Peri/Silas

C: Silas informs Peri that she has a bad reputation. Peri gets upset.

B: Peri says, and I quote, "I'm so mad, I could slice up a puppy!" Silas says he talked to Xander about Peri and decides to not antagonize Peri because Xander likes her. To himself, Silas decides to tell Xander to reign Peri in.

A: Silas offers himself as a victim for Peri. When Peri attacks, he blocks every blow. Silas realizes why Xander keeps Peri around, because she's strong and also because Xander is a piece of shit. Silas makes Peri agree to work her agression out on him, rather than the servants.

S: Silas proposes but tells Peri not to kill his family's servants.

Review: I really, really don't like Peri. She's a black hole of bad writing that makes every character who doesn't chop her head off complicit.

Support: Jakob/Selena

C: Jakob criticizes Selena for shopping and points out she's bought too much to carry back. Jakob refuses to help carry and Selena chases after him.

B: Jakob reveals he tricked her into being angry because spite is the most efficient fuel in all the world. Selena sees through this and figures out he ditched her because he's a jerk.

A: Jakob asks what drives Selena. She says there's no point in being anything but the best. Selena compliments Jakob's knitting.

S: Jakob says that Selena is the best at being loved by him. Selena demands she be the only one he loves.

Review: Jakob and Selena have a good dynamic, but this one's plot is a bit lacking.

Flora Early Join Patch + Gay Fates Update 0.6.0-- “Flora Emblem”

It’s here!!!! Finally!!! After so many months!!!

Here’s all the Flora love you could ever want, in two parts! 

Part 1: Gay Fates version 0.6.0-- This update adds 77 new support conversations, and Flora now has supports with every first gen character minus Yukimura and a decent amount with the second gen as well! This is all thanks to the tireless contributions of all this hack’s writers and supporters, especially those who helped me with the nitty gritty like my girlfriend Claire and @parrythemoon--this couldn’t have happened without them! 

Part 2: Flora Early Join Patch!  This patch enables Flora to join much much earlier than normal--Chapter 8 of Conquest for those who have the Conquest or Special Edition cartridge/download and Chapter 12 of Revelation for those who have the Special Edition cartridge/download.

Flora is crafted into a character a la Felicia and Jakob in this patch, with a level cap at level 40. This also has a Corrinsexual rebalancing patch built in which means her growths will more than keep pace.

Who did ya marry the hoshidan and nohrian royals to?

Man there are EIGHT of those mfs. Since Fates hasn't been around as long as Awakening has, and I haven't played it as many times, I haven't seen as many of the supports in this game as I have with FEA. And I haven't gone online and looked them up either. So maybe its because of that that I don't really have that many OTPs or preferred pairings for the royal fams or Fates characters in general. And since I'm not much of a shipper, that may never change.

Although that doesn't mean I have no preferred pairings for them.

Firstly for Xander. I think he has the same kind of issue Kaze does in that he doesn't really have a lot of chemistry or super interesting stuff going on in all his general supports excluding Corrin. I havent seen all of Xander's supports, but for the ones I have, this holds true. Most people OTP him with Charlotte, and while I definitely don't think they're bad together per se, and he is her perfect endgame, idk I always felt that something was kind of lacking or missing for them. I guess their support together didn't really hit the right notes for me. Instead I really like Xander with Mozu bc their support together is one of the cutest and sweetest in the entire game, is written pretty well, and showcases Xander's wholesome side perfectly. She is probably who I'm going to ship him with unquestionably from now on.

As for Camilla, I don't really have an OTP for her, but I have put her with Jakob and Niles before. I also think some people like her with Keaton and I could dig that. She’s also all right with Kaze but I.... dont really want to give him to her ehehehe. I havent really seen her with a dude who I thought she went super well with yet, aside for ONE but we'll get to that.

Leo is kind of the same case where I don't really have an OTP for him either, but I have put him together with Nyx before for MAGFORREST (and their support was respectable enough) and I think he's okay with Felicia too. I haven't seen that many romantic supports for Leo. I should get on that.

Elise is the same. Theoretically at first glance you'd think she'd be pretty cool with Arthur, but when I actually went and did their supports I think I had the same kind of issue as I do with Lissa/Frederick in that they feel more like family than lovers to me. Like in both cases Arthur and Frederick feel like a big brother. Also most of the support is spent talking about Xander and having Elise worry about him while Arthur just memes as usual. I like Elise's support with Kaze also but idk if I'd really marry them.

NOW FOR HOSHIDO

I dont have any strong feelings about a Ryoma OTP. He's kinda okay with Kagero but I dont really want to put them together for a few reasons I think (some of which are just my own personal feelings lol) but I like him with Rinkah bc he tried to calm her the fuck down and imo that's what she needs, to chill and eat some fkn candy. I also put him with Camilla in Rev and while they're C-A rank is back and forth meh, THAT S RANK WAS ONE OF THE BEST THINGS I'VE EVER SEEN AND MADE ME FEEL LIKE I WAS LIVING.

I think my main Hinoka OTP is with Jakob actually bc their support is pretty good and actually foreshadows the queen of hoshido thing that happens in BR (although, funnily and tragically enough, he wont be there for her when she becomes queen of hoshido in BR x'))))))) although I think I slightly prefer Jakob with Azura. And also, setting aside my more visceral feelings about him, her support with Silas is pretty good too. OH, I also like her with Saizo and I think she's one of the few people who would be able to handle his shit.

For Takumi I like putting him with Azura. Oboro is also ok. I need to look into his supports with Hana and Camilla more bc they have potential.

And for Sakura, I think I prefer her most with Subaki. Because while their support was kind of clumsily written, I really like the message behind it in that she loves him because of both his strengths and faults, and because of his imperfections. I also think he'd do a good job of taking care of her (tho HANA BE JELLY. Actually I wish I could ship Sakura with Hana in this game too). And while Sakura's support with Xander was half assed, it too had a pretty neat message behind it, but I wish they'd kind of focused more on her anxiety and him helping her through it than just glossing over it too fast. What made it more interesting too is that Xander could personally relate to her issues and see himself in her and her reasons for why she was doing what she was doing. Also if I wasn't marrying Kaze (HAHAHAHAHA) I'd put him with Sakura. I don't care for their support that much but personality wise I think they'd be good together, and Sakura is his type.

Together We Ride is a zine that explores the similarities that can be found throughout the Fire Emblem series’ considerable cast.

Each individual artwork in this zine features multiple characters from different games spanning across the FE series. Volume two consists of thirty+ full-color illustrated pages by our twenty-two artists and writers (listed below), each featuring combinations chosen by them.

The zine will be printed on a 9"|22.86cm x 6"|15.24cm gloss saddle stitched booklet.

Update 1.2.0 for Unofficial Gay Fates is out!

This update finally pushed us up to 100 added supports!

*deep breath* Where to begin?

First, yes, I severely love the concept of gay Fire Emblem characters. If you’ve ever been to @unassumingvenusaur​‘s page, she even has a blog for gay pairings, and I’ve enjoyed a lot of them. I need to go tell more writers that they do a good job, and it’s really impressive that the mod is even able to keep the blog running while being busy with school and stuff. (I would never have done that when I was in college.)

So, I’ve got a lot of pairs resulting from that page and my own shameless desires, because I’m disgusting great. Obviously, I do like ManRobin with Chrom and FemCorrin with Azura, because story couples are the best. And, of course, I ship both Robins and Corrins with everyone, as they should be able to be paired off with whomever they like. (Though, I like some more than others.)

There’s no way that I can do this simply, so let’s see…I’m only going to stick with Awakening and Fates, because Heroes allows me too much freedom with crossover ships that don’t make sense.
