#Pantsula crew Rozary Productions from Dukhatole pose above outdoor toilets to a crowd of mostly children. I never wanted this series to be focused on the harsh surroundings which encircle some of the crews reality but on the incredible art form itself. This image however brings to the foreground a very extreme situation as well as the audience which are entertained at practices and performances, children. A small amount of a much larger body of work was recently released for this series in the @nytimes #nytimeslensblog

Lee a female #Pantsula dancer wears the same uniform / costume that her male counterparts do. In the old days Mashoza's (female Pantsulas) would wear a different attire. Lee see's herself equal as a performer with her mail dancers and everyone in the crew wears the same attire which where traditionally men's clothing. Features this week on the @nytimes #lensblog #nytimeslensblog #impilomapantsula #pantsula4life @southafrica
