Brief Thoughts on Some Ships:

USUK: They're best friends who are obsessed with each other and always looking for excuses to hang out. They tend to info dump all over the other. They're stubborn, kind of petty, very protective, and have a hard time admitting how much they desire the other's company, praise, and attention, but they're working on it because they care deeply about the other. They're in love, your honour.

PrUK: One of the best slept on England ships. Two wild guys that go out to loud punk rock concerts and have drinks together, then quietly recharge at home (e.g. writing in their journals, reading fairy tales, and sewing). Fun personality combination? Check. History together? Check. Canon interactions? Check. Though they really could still use MORE canon moments, given how much potential they have. Pirate x priest with these two is always excellent.

EngBela: The sexy Addams Family-esque couple who live in an elegant gothic mansion and pass time indulging in their hobbies, such as fortune telling, talking to ghosts, singing, and listening to rock music.

FrUK: Used to be an OTP, now I mainly like them as close platonic frenemies. Romantically, it's better in theory than in practice – that is to say, it has potential, but I'm not a fan of most depictions. Also, nyo FrUK is superior.

AmeBela: The dorky hero and goth girl. They confused and exhausted each other at first, but eventually developed an understanding and started getting along pretty well. He can fix her. She can make him worse. Alfred tries to encourage Natalya to form her own identity away from Ivan. Natalya encourages Alfred's suppressed yandere tendencies. She pegs him.

Romerica: They bond over sharing their cultures with each other. Alfred loves Lovino's food. Living in America provided all sorts of new ingredients for Lovino to experiment with in cooking, and he got to be good at something without Feli taking the attention away from him. Lovino is actually a fan of some of Alfred's home cooking as well. They both enjoy singing and dancing, and are fans of Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, and Bobby Darin.

EngGer: They're both responsible and serious...until Arthur's wild side comes out and he starts teasing and playing games with Ludwig's head. Ludwig is socially awkward and a strict rule-follower, which Arthur can relate to, but he's better at being social and having fun than Ludwig, so he can help him loosen up – although in the bedroom, Arthur is more than happy with letting Ludwig be a strict rule follower. Ludwig is very obedient. Arthur trained him nicely.

AmeLiet: They're really domestic and get along well most of the time. They're comfortable enough that they can confide pretty easily in each other. Alfred is pretty protective of Tolys, particularly when it comes to Ivan. He doesn't like the way Ivan treated him and is quick to jump to his defence whenever possible. Additionally, Alfred is 'in love with the way Tolys undresses'. That's not questionable at all.

I interact with Hetalia weird in that I care more about how I can use a character narratively and explore their character growth through an arc in a humanverse story rather than nationverse. Also in reverse from many people in the fandom, it’s the characters that get me interested in the real life history rather than the other way around. So figuring out how historical events would have shaped them into the person I already think they are.

And I mean despite that, I have a fondness for Ukraine because I HC her as plus size (which doesn’t seem to be an uncommon headcanon), and tbh we need more fat characters. I love writing moments where she’s happy and loved.

As for nyotalia… I must once again say France. I genuinely don’t know what it is about Francis and Marianne to me… I think it’s their inherent tendency to be drama queens. I write Marianne completely differently than I do Francis. Marianne is selfish and terrifyingly ambitious. And as much as I ADORE FACE fam and advocate for Good Dad Francis™️, Marianne is not the best parent. Marianne likes the idea of babies rather than becoming a parent for the purpose of teaching a person how to be a person. With normal FrUK, I imagine they both have an equal share in raising their children, with nyo!FrUK, it’s Alice who does a vast majority of the work.

Hello! 22 NB (they/them) searching for long term literate Hetalia rp partners. I will NOT rp with minors, so people 20+ only, please.

I use tupper on discord and can teach those unfamiliar how to use the bot, but I’m not averse to nyxing the bot entirely! My responses can be a little lengthy, as I'm a fan of heavy description. I try to respond ASAP but don't expect everyone to be as quick to respond as I am.

My main muse is France and he’s who I prefer to write for, but I’m also able to write for Norway, Finland, England, and America. I'm also open to writing Nyo versions of those I've listed!

Hetalians as Characters in A Christmas Carol

So it's that time of year, and every year I watch the same Christmas movies over and over again. A classic in this house, also my mom's favourite version of it, is A Christmas Carol from 1951 starring Alastair Sim. Yes, I deliberately tracked down the DVD for her one year, and ironically I now have the working DVD player in the house.

I thought of these Hetalians as these characters in years past, thinking "one of these years I'll write the full fanfiction and post it", but since I never seem to get around to it... why don't I just cast everyone below the cut here?

Ebenezer Scrooge - Switzerland. This one should be so fucking obvious.

Marley, his dead business partner - Netherlands. All about the money.

Ghost of Christmas Past - Ukraine. You know she'd be the supportive guide, leading Switzy through exploring his past.

Ghost of Christmas Present - Russia. Don't tell me he couldn't play the jovial role of a Father Christmas type figure here. Plus the undertone of creepiness for his departure scene, where he becomes anxious to get out of there before the next ghost shows up.

Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come - Belarus. She doesn't even need to say a fucking word. She'll just stand there ominously, in a black dress and a dark veil that covers her head, and terrifies Switzy into changing his ways.

In The Past...

Fan, Ebenezer's sister - Liechtenstein. Poor sweet sister who tries to bring him back home to the family. Eventually dies in childbirth, which breaks her brother's heart.

Fezziwig, Ebenezer's first employer - Spain. You know the Spaniard would be a kind employer who would throw the best work party for the holidays.

Alice, Ebenezer's sweetheart - Hungary. Yes, perhaps my first thoughts of SwissHun, before I wrote Only Aces Remain or plotted Havana Lunare. Erzsébet would be happy with the relationship when they were young and humble, but would call it quits when the golden idol of wealth takes her place in his heart.

Jorkin, Ebenezer's next employer - Austria. A man who appears wealthy and influential, but ultimately gets caught up in embezzlement and bad business. He'll get bought out by Switzy and Ned.

Fan's husband (shows up in the background for the one scene in the movie) - Prussia. Yes, I'm breaking canon rules and throwing away the family lineage. Erika marries Gilbert, and dies giving birth to their son, who you can probably guess before I mention him later.

In The Present....

Bob Crachit - France. Keep following me on this....

Mrs Crachit - England (nyo). Yes, we get our FRUK pairing, which also means....

Assorted young Crachits - FACE family! Alfred can be the young man of the house, Madeline can be the eldest daughter who had to clear snow at the school/church before running home, you know where I'm going with this.

Tiny Tim - Sealand. Given the above, this should also be an obvious choice.

Fred, Ebenezer's nephew - Ludwig. Yes, Germany is the child of PruLiech as mentioned above. The young man is very happy in life, has married for love, and will at least try every year to convince his stubborn uncle to actually enjoy the holidays.

Fred's unnamed wife - Italy (nyo). Yes, we can have our heteronormative Gerita in this too. She'll be hosting the party with Fred, and Lovino can be one of the guests.

Mrs Dilber, the charwoman at Scrooge's house - Belgium. She just takes care of the cleaning and such, tries to sell his bedsheets and bedcurtains in the future yet to come, and gets a fright when he's way too happy on Christmas morning.

Oh can you write ukfrain? I thought like a love triangle (real one) and they're all too dumb to notice they're in love with each other. I do like Frain being very close and lot of PDA dispite them not saying and England feeling jealous because he/she isn't between them.

Dammit why was Isabella so pretty!

This was the simultaneous thought of more than one very gay women in the conference room as Spain flounced up to give her speech.

Spain in a suit could turn most women gay, let's be real here, but if they were already gay, that could be a small problem.

As she droned on about agriculture most people had tuned out and were busy doing various things, like being on their phones, irritating someone or staring at Isabella's hips, luckily for Isa, only 2 people were staring at her hips. But unluckily for her, it was Francene and Elizabeth, one was her best friend (and fuck buddy) and the other was her past rival (now occasional fuck buddy.) 

Now you could argue that  Francene and Isabella's relationship had long surpassed being just fuck buddies, looking after each other and cuddling in the rain, being there when the other was down, kissing eachther goodnight, while sleeping in the same bed.

Normal homie behaviour at its finest.

After that it was Francene, she gave an actually well delivered and structured speech about strikes and why they happen and how to prevent them to avoid major closures. Most people were listening and to some extent Isa and Elizabeth were too, but they were also getting occationally sidetracked by Francenes clothing choices. A very close fitting waistcoat that left little to imagination and even though the skirt reached the knee, it showed her stocking clad calves and if she stretched, parts of her thigh and it was really sending Elizabeth around the bend.

She knew that Francene was mostly occupied by Isabella, but she really wanted to be held dammit. Preferably by either or both of those 2.

When it was finally Elizabeth's turn to speak, she pointedly avoided looking at either of the two. After all she was not wearing anything exactly provocative and her bodily dimensions left a lot to be desired, so she wouldnt have to worry.

At least that's what she thought.

Her bin provocative clothing and her overall dimensions did nothing to stop the two romance nations imagining things that would have gotten them flogged in centuries past.

I mean Elizabeth has done it before, so why not again.

Elizabeth's presentation on urban and rural development was the end to the incredibly long meeting.

Most nations had agreed to go to the pub before going to their hotels and probably sleeping, though some noises occasionally said otherwise.

Elizabeth walked to the canteen, avoiding Isabella and Francene like the plague, even if that meant being around Julchen and Amelia, two women who had no idea what being quiet was.

Except today, they were mostly silent, only muttering to each other under their breaths.

After an infuriating 5 minutes she asked "What is wrong with you two, neither of you have said awesome or dude yet and you're being awfully quiet."

Julchen, being an absolute beast at covering up her tracks and 100% wanted to torture Elizabeth said "We were talking about how I'm pretty sure that Isa and Francene have a thing going on."

"Oh you think I dont know that? I hear ✨sounds✨" she said, quite disgruntled as you would imagine.

She looked over at the two who were being so sappy that she couldn't look away defo not imagining herself in some questionable positions .

Elizabeth stopped her beer while Julchen did as well, Amelia was being a pussy in the corner and drinking coke.

But a couple of beers later, everyone is understandably a bit tipsy and whilst Amelia was stuck with dragging a mooning Elizabeth and a very depressed Julchen out of the bar.

Amelia looked on in dismay as Elizabeth sort of walked (she wasn't stumbling but like still a bit wobbly) over to the very passionately making out duo in the back.

And her tongue being plied with a generous amount of liquid courage says "Can I join you?"

Just gonna go out on a limb here Anon when I assume you mean Hetalia ships?

I mean- I don't really discriminate against any of them, but I'm not super passionate about any either?

I've kind of gotten attached to England/2P Germany and Spain/Nyo Prussia after this one roleplay I was in, with just a hint of Veneziano/Ireland sprinkled in for good measure.

I'm not super comfortable with USUK, Spamano, Franada, etc. because of the whole parent/child vibe I've always gotten from them. It just- No. I could see the appeal perhaps in Human AUs where they meet in say college or something, but not so much in canon.

If you stalk my main blogs tags, you'll mostly see me shipping England with... anyone really. There was a RusEng post a while back where I kind of joked that any ship in this fandom has some sort of historical content I could use as justification.

Mostly a lot of Prumano, PrUK, FrUK, SpUK, and AsaKiku, but really anything goes.

I'm more about family dynamics anyway; gimme more squabling siblings and Nerf Wars.

What are you favorite germany/England fics?

Oh boy I've got a long list.

Basically anything by TeethHoarder. I’m going to sound like a broken record, but I always want to give  credit where credit is due: Teeth was a big inspiration for me when it came to headcanons and figuring out Ludwig's characterization so they’re my go to when anyone asks for fics. They're also here on tumblr under that username and run the ask blog asking-gereng. Sorry, I got a bit carried away. Here are my favorite fics by them:

Are Friends Electric- My favorite fanfic ever. It hasn’t been completed yet, but last time I talked to Teeth they were wanting to continue it saying they were so close to finishing. Even incomplete it is such a compelling read and everything I could ever want from a GerEng fic. There is hurt/comfort, bonding over music, them taking care of Peter, angst, fluff, a good friendship between Arthur and Francis and Ludwig and Feli. It’s wonderful, I could never recommend it enough. It does get heavy and dark later on with drug use and a suicide attempt, but if that isn’t too much for you, I couldn’t recommend it more. 

The Natural Underneath- A paranormal mystery based au. Normally I don’t like reading things tagged character death, but it’s so compelling with my favorite ship so I couldn’t stay away. It is also not complete yet, but apparently it’s also pretty close to being done. But again, like with the previous fic, it’s still a great read even with it not being complete yet.

This kiss prompt- Just super sweet, hurt/comfort with Arthur getting upset and Ludwig comforting him and ugh...Always one of my go to reads if I’m feeling down or stressed.

Okay I’ve answered part of this ask before so I’m just going to copy and paste what I wrote for that, that way there is a complete list of my GerEng fic recs:

There is @/iship2muchshit who goes by IMAGI_nation over on ao3. She tends to write GerFra and Fruk, but she does got some GerEng in there and the best GerFruk out there. But you asked for GerEng so here are their GerEng fics, all sweet, but also humorous!

Falling in love with a stranger because he did not send you a dickpic is setting the bar quite low to be honest. (as you could assume it’s a bit mature, but nothing explicit). It’s very funny and really shows Ludwig and Arthur being the awkward dorks they are. Unfortunately, she hasn’t updated it in awhile, but she’s still hard at work on other fics.

The Great Eurovision Betrayal. It’s a fun read. They get tipsy together, watch Eurovision, kiss the whole shebang! This was actually the inspiration for my recent nsfw fic though my fic was based on this year’s results while Imagi’s is based on last year’s. 

How a forgotten USB stick made Francis’ day. This is actually a prompt I suggested using one of my favorite dialogue tropes (don’t know if that’s the right word?).

Arthur likes tall blondes. What a way to start a relationship! That’s all I’ll say.

What the Fae Queen Wants: This is based on a fairy au someone in my GerEng server shared and we discussed. Basically where a human Ludwig gets spoiled by his Fairy Queen lover Arthur while also making sure Arthur behaves.

Make Notes Out of Love AU: I don’t explore it often in my own writing, but I love to see a rivalry fic with Lud and Art.

This one doesn’t have a title, but it’s a really cute chessverse fic. They love to make chessverse au GerEng stuff and I love that!

Night Like This: I’m so sad this fic got discontinued, but this fic is so well written and the dynamic and au idea is amazing! I’m working on a road trip au and while brainstorming ideas I kept thinking back to this fic so I think I’ll have to go back to it when I go to write my au. 

Here We Go Again: Dramatic, sad, but also sweet.

We Were Alive Together: Sad ending, but super cute slideshow of their relationship.

The Telephone Rings: Also sad, but with a hopeful ending of healing together.

This one doesn’t really have a title, but its a cute mermaid au and I love it!

Another one with out a title, but it’s a very nice hurt/comfort fic about the mental toll it is to be a nation.

as a uni student i shouldnt encourage u not to do work but like relatable so do you have ships that you have a particular dynamic you love the most? Like the ship is good anyway, but certain AUs or dynamics just HIT?

Honestly, I love reading long multichapter fics, which may influence my favourite AU’s and dynamics… but if we will see.

In general, all of my favourite ships fall under the classic extrovert x introvert dynamic. (acts first x think first; upfront x secretive, ect.)

Specific ships… I probably have the most thoughts on PrUK and USUK. Though I’ll keep it brief cause ironically, I could write an essay on them.

For USUK, a Cardverse AU is top tier. They are the King and Queen of Spades, it practically writes itself. Honestly Cardverse fics hit different, and rarely misses imo.

And I love a magic/fantasy AU anyway, especially for USUK. The wizard x hero dynamic is great for them and I also enjoy the classic werewolf x vampire pairing. Magical Strike AU is also amazing.

USUK’s dynamic… I am going to struggle to keep this brief lmao; I genuinely could write a whole separate post about it. Basically, they are best friends; they know each other better than anyone else in the world.

Feeling realisation fic’s are top tier imo; gimme the confused jealousy when one of them starts dating someone else. Add in some mutual pining, miscommunication and hurt/comfort and it’s a winner. I also love a good slow burn fic but they’re usually pretty rare.

Currently, PrUK is my favourite ship out of any fandom, but I’ve already wrote too much so I will keep it brief 😭💀

Ironically, a PrUK College/University AU, hits different. As does a coworkers/office AU. I could go on… (honestly I think far too much about potential PrUK AU’s/ideas.)

Oh, and historical nationverse fic’s.

For AU’s, I love the tropes that force them to get to know each other. Like, they have to work on a project together or are fake dating, are probably my top two. Friends with Benefits is also one of my favourite tropes for them. (It’s killing me to keep this brief, and it’s still long lmao.)

My favourite PrUK dynamic is when they are both hated individually but surprisingly get along with each other. /They disliked each other before they even met, which resulted in some unspoken competition to rile the other up and see if the stories are true. Now there’s palpable tension because neither of them have ever exercised this much self-restraint, but they’re not going to lose.

It’s brief for me okay? I could have made this significantly longer 😂😂😂 also I prefer nyo!fruk over canon fruk, and 2p1p USUK hits different.

Fruk Week Day 5: Nyo

The Misfit Couple Word Count: 519

“Is this how you have the energy to be so annoying all of the time? by finding ridiculous ways to relax?”

“Oh, yes, always. I prioritize self-care days. Maybe if you did it more often you wouldn’t be so bitter all of the time,” Francine fires back effortlessly as she finishes applying an Australian pink clay mask onto her face. “I don't want to have wrinkles by the time I'm thirty-five."

Francine's friends ask her daily why she’s dating Alice Kirkland out of all of the other women on campus. They can’t imagine what Francine sees in her. To outsiders, all they do is bicker and fight. It’s not a healthy relationship, that’s for sure…But honestly, Francine doesn’t care what anyone else thinks. She used to worry about her reputation and wanted to know every little thing others were saying about her. She kept constant tabs on the rumor mill, but now, all of that seems less important. Others simply don’t understand that Francine and Alice have their own dynamic.

Yes, they’re at each other’s throats frequently, but it’s always harmless in the end. Oddly, it works for them. And maybe that’s bad. Maybe it’s toxic. Maybe she shouldn’t be forcing Alice to have a self-care day with her this morning. Maybe they shouldn’t be applying face masks, soaking their feet in Epsom salt, and plucking their eyebrows (though Alice is in dire need of a good tweezing). Maybe all of this is wrong.

But Francine is okay with it. In fact, she’s smitten. She enjoys the back-and-forth banter and how Alice’s wit is training her mind to be more agile. Weirdly enough, Alice seems to find it rewarding as well. Alice likes being on the receiving end of snarky retorts, and Francine is happy to oblige.

“We’re a mess, you and I,” Francine murmurs as she closes her eyes and rests her head against the back of the recliner she’s sitting on. “How did we end up here?”

Alice laughs—she has such a cute laugh. Francine can’t get enough of it. It’s so bubbly and contagious. It’s almost hypnotic. “It was your idea to put mud on our faces, so I’m certainly not the one to be blamed for this.”

“No, I didn’t mean it like that. I meant in terms of our relationship.”

Francine doesn’t have to open her eyes to know that Alice’s body has stiffened.

“Is something wrong? Are you upset with how things are going?” Alice asks, keeping her tone neutral.

“Nothing’s wrong. I was just thinking about what an odd pair we are…But I wouldn’t change a thing,” Francine assures, opening her eyes to direct a smile in Alice’s direction, only to realize that the clay mask has now hardened and she can’t move the muscles in her cheeks.

“Well, good….because I’m…I’m having loads of fun,” Alice says quickly under her breath. She’s always doing her best to evade prolonged bouts of emotion.

Francine feels a cluster of butterflies flap their wings in her chest. “Me too.”

“Now, can I wash this revolting muck off yet?”

"Ugh, fine. I hope you get wrinkles."
