Voltron!Mermaid Rehabilitation AU

Mermaid rehabilitation is just them helping mermaids walk on land and do a bunch of human land stuff??????? So yea

The complex is fucking giant. It has 5 levels to it, over 300 rooms.

the majority of the rooms are suits for all of the mermaids who temporarily live there 

they also have a lot for storage, keeping medical supplies, clothing, food, wheelchairs/crunches

there is a swimming pool on each level, as well as a medical bay

the lower levels are majorly just for bedrooms, the top level bedrooms being for employees/volunteers who work there

everything is wheelchair friendly/accessible 

they have an access bay. its basically this indoor mini beach that connects to ocean by a tube. the place is filled with clothes and wheelchairs

this is located on a cliff just off the coast of Florida, btw

Allura & Coran are the owners of the Altea Mermaid Rehabilitation Facility

Coran does the introductory, but Allura does do it sometimes as well 

He explains the process and all the things the types of therapy and training they’ll be doing. he teaches them how to use wheelchairs, and basic interaction with technology

Allura is the manager

She watches over everything that happens in the facility 

she shows the mermaids to their room and help them check out

She helps give directions to new comers, and make sure that all of the stocks are filled and how much of what item are needed

Shes simply an supervisor overall

Pidge is one of the teachers and their technology expert

Pidge helps them understand how to use technology, read & write

she helps hunk fix things if shes absolutely needed, as well as making updates all of the computers to make sure there are no viruses and that they are all up to date

When she has free time, she sometimes helps out in the medical bay

Hunk is the main engineer & chef 

He helps fix machinery if its broken, and also helps build and improve the machines as well

He’s the head chef of their restaurant/cafe 

He also teaches the mermaids to both fix basic things and how to cook

He gets alot of help from mermaids when hes in the kitchen, Shay also popping in to assist from time to time

Lance is basically therapist, but also helps them with slang/style 

He helps mermaids with emotional issues, but also with some physical issues

He shows them a bunch of memes and also shows them movies, explaining that they are considered entertainment

he gives them fashion tips, and every time Keith or Hunk is any where near him, Lance will use them as his models, but Plaxum is normally his model and helps him do demonstrations

Lance: Now if you look over towards Keith, this is what we call Edgy. Its a drastic look that comprises of very dark colors, and means that you are emo and shop at Hot Topic

Keith: I have a knife, Lance.

He teaches them how to do makeup and a bunch of slang terms

Keith & Shiro are the main physical therapists

Keith teaches during the early stages, while Shiro helps with the later stages of development 

Keith helps them advance by starting out with crawling, and just getting them become used to standing, just doing processes you would use to help a baby walk

The room basically looks like a ballet studio, with bars along every wall, he normally tells people to talk closely along the walls

He helps them walk around using crunches, and tells them to use them outside of class

They all have to pass an assessment where they have to walk down a path outside, just to make sure they do it for long lengths with no other support

Shiro helps them by teaching them different forms of exercises, as well as how to drive

Shiro & Keith also have class that they do together where they help mermaids who are permanently disabled understand how to do things in the world

Rolo & Nyma do deliveries for the rehab facility, helping them with refilling stocks and purchasing orders

Nyma is also Allura’s gf

Shay is the main nurse in the medical bay, but helps everywhere tbh

Plaxum is mermaid volunteer and often helps by doing demonstrations and just being a moral boost overall
