I noticed something about the Canon dragons in Darksiders.

Frostbane and the Destroyer. They both move similarly to cats!

It makes me wonder what other feline traits they exhibit when they're not trying to fight the horsemen.

It was a lot of inspiration for me when Nyörun was first in development.

🌓 and I'll share how my OC handles moments of uncertainty.

When Eideard is still alive, Nyörun typically just consults him for advice. His wisdom is a great comfort for her, especially since he always seemed so understanding of her needs.

After his passing, however, she found much more solace in solitude. Whenever she is uncertain or overcome with stress, she excuses herself for a walk...

Only in this case, it's airborne.

Simply put, she flies!

It's a great reliever at making her problems seem small, sometimes literally! Flying also gives her the opportunity to work out her problems before making rash decisions.

Tell us something about Nyörun that she finds embarrassing!

When she was a hatchling she had a habit of chasing lights shining off of shields and weapons, never quite realizing where the source was.

And she still does this as an adult! It is very distracting and she gets embarrassed when that childish habit comes through when she needs to be serious.

That's very sweet that she'd come to Nyörun for help! Though admittedly, she may actually just accidentally break the jar in the process...

Can Nyörun sing or play any instruments?

I think in her human form, Nyörun can absolutely sing. She's an alto!

In her dragon form, it's a little tricky, as I've noticed that dragons in Darksiders have interestingly ethereal, echo-y voices. Maybe they can harmonize when they sing alone! I think Nyörun does anyway.

I wonder what it would sound like if the dragons all sang together? I think it would either sound really good, or really bad, as I think Nyörun is the only one without such a gravely voice. To me she sounds kinda like Sapphira from the Eragon film or Alexstrasza from World of Warcraft.

Sadly, she has no instrumental tact. Not for a lack of trying! She gets frustrated when she's not good at things right away, and a dragon's frustration leads to broken objects nine times out of ten.

So I've been playing through the Spyro reignited trilogy in my free time and I realized something super cute!

Baby Nyörun would absolutely frolick like Spyro does! She probably does it as an adult too, but it's significantly less cute when scaled up to her adult size

Here's a good gif example of what I mean:

She probably had to move this way as a baby because her body was very fat and potato shaped. She doesn't do it as frequently as an adult but sometimes when she's in an open area she will scamper.

Just imagine a full grown dragon frolicking like a baby... ❤️

Maybe if I ever get around to animating, I'll try and draw Spyro's run cycle with her

When Nyörun and Fury first met, it didn't go very well. Their personalities were very opposite. Fury didn't like that Nyörun would try and threaten her, and Nyörun didn't like that Fury would throw her weight around and have that sort of attitude.

So here the girls are, having a clearly peaceful discussion.

Don't worry, they don't know it yet, but they'll be friends.

Ah yes, the ferocious and powerful Nyörun. Playing with cars and zombies (I haven't gotten around to actually drawing them up that way though, so enjoy this sketch of a dragon being goofy.

A girl's gotta stay entertained in between all the fighting Abaddon or other demon and angel hordes, and waiting for nephilim to show up.

Of course, she waits till no one is looking~

Pick a character from a cartoon you liked as a kid that reminds you of your oc!

I couldn't get the thought out of my mind that Nyörun, considering her age in the grand scheme of things and the overall nature with her relationship to Elder Eideard, Nyörun is basically

Frankie Foster!

The casual attitude while also being incredibly temperamental. (I haven't watched Foster's home for imaginary friends in literal years and I still remember that when Frankie gets angry everybody runs lol)

Her relationship to Elder Eideard as previously mentioned helps. If I remember right, Frankie was going to take over the family business when Madam Foster passes on. And that's something I can see for her is that Elder Eideard was training Nyörun to take his place one day as Chief.

What's your OC's name, gender, age, sexuality/romantic preference, and what's their story?

My character's name is Nyörun!

She is a dragon that was raised by the makers from before she hatched from her egg.

I believe that she is straight, but she cares more about the strength of one's character and prowess in combat rather than other aspects.

Since the Makers raised her, she is approximately a few thousand years old. At least one thousand years before the birth of humanity. Obviously not the oldest in the grand scheme of Darksiders as a whole, but she and Karn grew up together. They're basically siblings that were raised together by the remaining Makers in the Forgelands. She considers Eideard as her father above all else and Muria helped the little hatchling control her destructive impulses and magical ability.

I made Nyörun as a sort of foil for Frostbane. He is the dragon of the void, unable to be killed, but Nyörun is tied to the Tree of Life. She draws her power from it and this acts as a living avatar for the Great Tree.

Upon arriving on Earth with some of the Makers, Nyörun decided to help protect humanity and one of the best ways to do that was to hide amongst the humans to guide them back to sanctuary and watch over them while hiding her true strength unless it was to face Abaddon in combat.

Decided to sketch anyone I was at work. I know it's hard to tell what's going on, but I was inspired to draw baby Nyörun's first encounter with snow since we're getting into colder months and even have our first snow of the year.

I think the forge lands got pretty heavy snow usually.

So here's baby Nyörun being hidden by snow and screaming to get picked up.

I might clean this up later; who knows!

Pick one song that relates to Nyörun. Why do you relate it to her?

If You and I Were Friends - from the Gingiva OST.

It has this ethereality that I equate to Nyörun's presence. Especially if you were inside her den in Darksiders 2. I enjoy a lot of ambient type music.

This particular song also has what sounds like many voices joined together, which kinda emphasizes how she is able to communicate with The Great Tree. She's seen and lived so many lives as she grows up and uncovers her destiny is intertwined with the Tree of Life.

The music also sounds lonely, warm and safe. She misses her family but will carry out her duty. Luckily, Ulthane is there on Earth as well, so neither of them have to endure anything alone.

Does Nyörun have any relationships with other people's OCs?

Yes! She is actually friends with @crowsofafeather 's Clarence and Juno. For different reasons.

She is friends with Clarence because of the experiments the angels did on him and was released a lot later after she had thought humans no longer roamed the Earth. She keeps him around not only as a means of entertainment but as a promise to herself. She promised to protect humans she came across, and while the promise may have been fulfilled by the end of Darksiders 3, it's a promise that Nyörun stays true to.

She finds his little quirks endearing while at the same time, she knows she needs to take care of him. Whether that's for her own selfish desires, or for his needs are so intertwined that it's impossible to tell. It started off selfish. She was probably lonely waiting for something to happen while tending to the Earth. Time spent in the company of others is a great help to one's sanity.

Nyörun is friends with Juno because they are both powerful in the end. She loved watching Juno grow from merely an apprentice to taking on The Crowfather's position. While the man himself is dear to her, she became fast friends with his replacement. Protecting her old identity and secrets is something she does with pride. They can visit each other from time to time, as Nyörun's position as the Avatar for the Tree of Life allows her to use its roots and branches as passageways between worlds.

She greatly enjoys gossiping with Juno about the goings-on in other realms and discussing plans for the future. Especially while they're not fully grown into their positions.

Sometimes girls just need to get together for getaways.

There was also an au I had with @coloredgravity where Nyörun got into done mischief wandering between Maker portals and ended up meeting Ephraim as a baby and she was there as an emotional support baby, and he helped her fly even. (Albeit, not by choice!)

What did baby Nyörun look like? Do we have any alternative forms for her infant self?

So I posted the original digital picture I did, but this was a fun experiment. She did definitely take on the appearance of a maker child when she got old enough to take on the form. It made housing her much easier despite her urge to destroy the hard work of her family.
