Planta de Cargill que había sido expropiada por Chávez fue “reprivatizada”

El 05MAR de 2009 el presidente Chávez ordenó la expropiación de la principal planta procesadora de arroz de Cargill, ubicada en Portuguesa, por incumplir la normativa de precios. No colocaba el valor en el empaque ni cumplía con una cuota del 80% a precio regulado. 

La planta había sido construida una década antes y estaba asociada con una finca (Puente Leña en Píritu) comprada por Cargill en 1991 para el cultivo de arroz. Vistos los antecedentes oligopólicos en otros rubros no es de dudar que el plan era similar en la producción de arroz.

La instalación estuvo a cargo de la multiestatal Arroz del Alba hasta que en 2018 fue entregada en "alianza estratégica" a la enigmática Agroinsumos Lara Agroinlaca. La información trascendió luego que comuneros ocuparon la planta exigiendo la venta de arroz en sus comunidades.

Unas treinta personas fueron procesadas y privadas de libertad por dos meses, lo que motivó la intervención del ex ministro de Agricultura, Elías Jaua, qué 10 años antes estuvo a cargo de la expropiación. Denunciaba la "privatización" y que habían "borrado" el busto de Chávez. 

Una investigación de La Tabla confirmó la reprivatización y que el nuevo operador es el grupo Agroinlaca, formado por las compañías Avícola BC, Avícola AFC, Procesadora Occidental de Cereales, Nutrimix, Nutrop, Minlavica, Alimdoca, Agrotres y Apradoc según informes filtrados  Agroinlaca es el "aliado estratégico" privado que también administra activos agroindustriales "privatizados" como la Planta ABA Turen, el matadero industrial La Vigía en Quibor y la granja comercial de Porcinos del Alba en Barquisimeto. 

Al menos esa era la situación hasta 2019.

El grupo está presidido por Fernando Conejo quien está casado con la arquitecta Claudia Del Búfalo. En 2018 inauguraron una lujosa sede empresarial en Zona Industrial II de Barquisimeto, cuyo desarrollo estuvo a cargo de Claudio Del Búfalo, padre de Claudia y arquitecto también.

El más reciente informe público sobre el complejo es de enero de 2020 y se refiere una visita de inspección realizada por autoridades locales y del MAT. Cómo operador o "aliado" se menciona la firma Alimentos de Occidente, C.A., limdoca, que es parte de Agroinlaca.

En los últimos dos años Agroinlaca y sus directivos o propietarios han experimentado un crecimiento que les ha permitido adquirir inmuebles como un condominio valorado en más de 1 millón de dólares en Miami, Florida, en EEUU.
