In Aideidoria, a toy starts to rust either from being in very poor conditions or after they've been in complete abandonment. Rust will generally begin from the joints and then make its way into the insides, where it rusts out the toy to the point of no repair-ultimately killing them.

Riddley almost meets this fate until Kronya starts showering him with love and affection, helping his heart to kill off the rust.

I love how you draw the wood detailing on your nutcracker character. I’m curious, does he have a Mouse King to battle against? What kind of world does he live in?

The world he lives in is a "sequel" to the one we find in story books. Though the fairy tale is.. more or less just a tale in many ways. He does fight the a Rat King/mouse king and he wins. However the true villain of the tale is the young girl he had beside him. Marie (not Clara) who is a spoiled high society BRAT who demanded him to love her and well.. Like a brat when told no, she threw a tantrum and cursed the man once more with the rat king's staff.

Anyway he now is in the 1980s American world and has a better time.
