any nurseydex fics on ur mind lately? I find myself thinking about them more lately but seem to have read everything for them!

to be honest i’ve not been reading too many new fics lately, i’ve mainly been writing. hopefully some of my own fics will be out there and on your mind early next year!

Sterek 15k, Stiles POV, post s3 canon-divergence, soulmates, Stiles goes away to college and Derek starts getting sick, turns out the two things might be related

96, somehow (some of them are ficlets preserved for posterity, so there should probably be more, if I remembered to move some more things from here)

3. What fandoms do you write for?

Most actively at this exact moment, kpop rpf (ATEEZ and SHINee), but all but one thing in this category is a WIP I haven't posted yet. But I also have a Devil Judge AU I *really* want to write, if my writing brain picks back up properly.

4. Top five fics by kudos

This is hilariously skewed to Teen Wolf just by virtue of the size of the fandom, I don't actually think these are the fics I'm most known for, but:

Yes!

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Probably "In Love with Ghosts," a character study about Lan Xichen and Song Lan have to deal with being left behind in the world of the living

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

I write so much fluff, I'm sure this is very subjective, but I think the one that makes *me* the happiest is the 2-part Petopher series Silver & Gold, because the middle-aged second-chance romance of them finally getting everything they've ever wanted was written to cater exactly to me.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

No, but I do have a hilarious bookmark saying one of my rare M-rated fics should be a G (????)

9. Do you write smut?

Related to the above answer, not really. I collab for smut very happily, but I spent several years in my irl career copy editing for a self-published romance writer who was very prolific but not great at keeping characterization consistent in sex scenes and it kind of burned me out on thinking through such scenarios for my own hobby purposes. That said, I do keep writing things that toe closer and closer to the line, so. Perhaps I am recovering from the trauma.

10. Craziest crossover?

Uh, I'm pretty sure that would be the Kent Parson/Derek Hale thing I wrote here as penance for being a vector of cross-fandom Derek confusion, but I don't think that ever got moved over to AO3. The funniest AU that's almost but not quite a crossover was the Wenzhou AU ("Persistence Pays Off") I wrote that started from the premise of Senpai, Don't You Know?, which is a niche enough reference that I'm probably the only one who understands how hilarious the mismatch is.

I don't think so?

Yes! Several times, it's very fun.

You want me to choose??? Nurseydex, for the sheer power they had over my brain for so long, and Petopher, for being such tired Actual Adults

15. What’s a wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

I really want to finish Bull City Blues, but my brain started avoiding working on it hardcore because it was bringing up all my own bad grad school experiences, so I'm stuck here with most of the end written but not the ability to push through the middle, and I deeply apologize for that. I keep hoping I'll come up with a way around it, just so I can post the end, finally.

16. What are your writing strengths?

Dialogue (where I mentally always start) and descriptions of specific imagery (because I see scenes like movies in my head)

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Plot. (Longfic who? I don't know her.)

18. Thoughts on dialogue in another language?

It's fine? If I ever wrote a long enough passage in not-English that it wasn't apparent from context, I'd have the translation in footnotes/hovertext, but it hasn't come up yet. Since so many of the fandoms I've written in recently have been non-English, I do sometimes have the dialogue in my head running in two languages simultaneously, but I tend to just write it all in English for ease of reading.

Voiceteam round up part 2

Round two of voiceteam turned out very different to part one for me, the main reason being that it was dominated by this project:

The first story I've written I've shared online, the first time I've shared my singing. This is a NurseyDexfic told through small vignets and Nursey's improvised lullabies over the melodies of my favorite lullabies from when I was little.

I spent hours making these lullabies follow the rhyme and rhythm patterns of the original Danish songs. Somehow a longer time cursing having to write the prose that went along with it. I absolutely adore rhyme and rhythm, there's something so satisfying about finally making it fit into the pattern. The songs also follow the ideas of the original songs quite closely, there are lines that mirror each other in various ways. I put so much love and care into details that no-one, but Danes who grew up with the same songs as me would notice. I have never felt more scared to post something and I probably wouldn't have done it if I hadn't had a deadline (looking at you a-year-and-change old NurseyDex draft on my computer).

I am really glad voiceteam pushed me to do this. My voice hasn't been at its best all through May and thus some of my singing is a bit shaky, but you know what? So was my dad's singing from time to time when he sang to me and I never cared. Love is stored in the lullabies no matter how shakily rendered.

It feels weird going on after this, but I did in fact do more that round:

This fic is so good and I am so glad spoofymcgee took initiative to podfic it. I have listened to it more times than I can count. It's Eddie's pov December after s3 and it's just a perfect little moment. I always really love doing a voice for multivoice podfics because you can just stick with your chosen voice all through the take. It is so comfortable I've considered from time to time to do my soloprojects like that, but maybe it's not quite worth the extra editing time. I love the story and I think everyone delivered their part perfectly in it go give it a listen!

N0Connections on my team made this little filk that I contributed a bit to, talking about all the parts of voiceteam. The coverart for this (as well as all the others by some magic coincidence) was made by dairaliz.

And thus my second round of voiceteam ended (not counting the coverart, but we'll circle back to that)

- I am the founder of the zine, and also one of the admins of the zine's discord server

- I joined the fandom back in july of 2020 when I happened by the comic at like 2 am and then read through it all in one sitting 🫠 (the brainrot is REAL)

- I like videogames (mostly 3d platformers, rhythm games, and roguelikes/lites) I also like drawing, and watching series (my favorite shows are Mob Psycho 100 and The Dragon Prince)

Hello, I'm Atlas!

I'm 24 years old, and I'm also from Argentina (also i'm bi and polyam)

This comic REALLY gripped onto my brain (even helped me realize I was bi) and so I wanted to give back to it by starting a zine (and hopefully keeping it going through multiple editions)

I've been lurking around this fandom for a while now, fighting the good fight and spreading the frog agenda as far as I can whenever possible 🫡

💘Is there any posted fic you want to rework/re-edit/re-write?

hmmm i feel like there’s a lot of fics I’d make edits to but as far as re-editing or re-writing a significant portion of it, i reread equilibrium the other week which is a nurseydex fic i posted back in 2019 which was…a while ago. and i feel like my writing has changed a lot and I’d like to think it’s improved lol. and i feel like that fic has decent dialogue and stuff but there wasn’t a lot of, like… inner narration? or a lot of time spent on GHE characters’… feelings. so i feel like i’d rewrite that fic and add more of that maybe !!

Oh I have some podfic recs, boy do I! But because I dabble in a bunch of fandoms, this isn't going to be Schitt's Creek only. All of these make me feel good to listen to, because the fics are wonderful and the people recording them are so, so talented. This barely skims the surface, really.

Schitt's Creek: Fifteen Hundred Miles, written by MoreHuman, read by Amanita_Fierce. This was the first podfic I ever listed to. It's a beautiful recording of a lovely fic.

Also, oh my god, Getting Over Getting Older all the Time. Shit, this was supposed to be feel-good, not angsty, huh? Well, angst makes me feel good, so there! Read by a whole cast of super talented folks.

Check Please: FINE I am going to shamelessly self-rec this one because it's so fun. I wrote it and edited the pod, but only recorded a small part. The Haus Official Ship Names by another big group of people I adore.

But also this one recorded by @cottagepodfics, a lovely Nurseydex fic written by omgericzimmermann, The Mechanics of Poetry.

HEY!! So I was just decorating my walls with posters and I thought "this clearly lacks polyfrogs" so the most obvious course of action was to make a huge frog collage from the NUMBER ONE POLYFROGS DEALER 'round these parts (@zim-tits , goes without saying)

Of course, I asked them for permission first, and she was 100% on board!!

Dex breaks their kiss with a shuddering breath and digs his hand out of the back of Nursey’s shirt so he can pull at the chest of it. “Can this come off?”

Nursey throws him one of his cocky grins, but the effect is shattered by the absolute adoration in his eyes. “I don’t know,” he teases, “can it?”

“Don’t be a fucking smartass,” Dex throws back with a roll of his eyes.

Nursey laughs warmly as he sits up and makes quick work of his shirt and Dex allows himself to look at the way his stomach rises and falls with every breath he takes, at the soft brown skin spanning over his stomach and chest, at the intricate tattoo on his biceps, at the dip of his collarbone that Dex knows the taste of, at the spots on his neck that drive Nursey crazy.

“Like what you see?” Nursey asks as he lies back down on his side, propping his head up on one of his hands. All Dex manages in response right now is a nod. “Good.” Nursey smiles and chucks his balled up shirt at Dex’s face. “Yours too, c’mon.”

Voiceteam round up part 1

Heyo! I participated in voiceteam this year and had so much fun crating so many different audio fanworks and I just kind of wanted to do a round-up post talking a bit about it because after round 1 I got quite terrible at showing them of to tumblr. Enjoy!

First a little ao3 milestone: I now have two pages of works on ao3! I went from under 20 works a month ago to 27 works all in all. Truly wild and now to the audio works of round 1:

My first published work of voiceteam was this lovely 5 minute long Check Please! multivoice podfic. I had read and absolutely loved it sometime after I signed up for voiceteam and knew that this was one I really wanted to do for this. I think it turned out really well especially because of hullomoon and dairaliz' amazing voice acting in it. It was an amazing start to voiceteam.

This alternative Robin coming out scene (as a sidestory to better by you, better than me) was made for the challenge immersion chamber where you had to watch the source material for 40 minutes and then right after record the podfic. It is the best voice acting I have ever done, I am genuinely just so proud of this one. (By the way the cover arts for both of these were done by the lovely Silvernightwalker)

Now this one is different. For the challenge two-timer I translated a cricketnationrise Check Please! fic to Danish and then recorded both that one and the original English one.

It was really fun translating it and surprisingly disturbing editing a piece where I spoke Danish. My voice is different and it felt weird listening to it, but it's also just a really cute NurseyDex fic.

This cute little NurseyDex fic was suggested for me to podfic by dairaliz (a fellow phoenicopter) and it is just a really cute soft 20 minute listen that I really enjoyed making and decided to draw coverart for myself because I love these guys.

Apropos things I've drawn, I also made this silly little comic about our team mascot Phoebe the Phoenicopter. I am having fun playing with my coloured pencils. I am fascinated by phoenicopter anatomy now.

And then to round of this round (bar another vertical limit chapter that I managed to get points for) is this really fun Elle's birthday podfic which all of the team that were active that round participated in. It is really fun and written specifically for audio.

So this was all published works I contributed my voice to the first round of voiceteam. I will make another post later showing of the cover art I've made for others and bragging about my much improved photopea skills. It is fun to me looking back on this and if anything caught your attention go check it out!
