My Grotesquerie Theories

Marshall and/or Charlie are the leaders of the cult. But I'm leaning more towards Marshall. The sequence of him in the hospital getting a little agitated because he didn't want Eddie or Megan to say goodbye to Lois was CREEPY. The way he entered the scene and how he conducted himself as the music played in the background was insane and I literally thought to myself “is this man the devil or something?”.

Someone also mentioned that because it is alluded that his students are very loyal to him, it would make sense for him to be a cult leader.

Satanist rituals might be the motive. Clues to this could be the puzzle that Lois was doing in her home, which was of Francisco Goya's Witches Sabbath. Another clue could be the repeated use of goat heads and how the crimes seem to be sort of a mockery or challenge towards Christian morals, teachings and values. We've yet to see the real crimes, but it is said in the trailer that they're basically a copy of the crimes in her dream, except more calculated. So I wouldn't rule this out. Plus, Megan and Charlie had also mentioned in the dream that satanism could've been a motive.

Charlie is the devil or something along those lines. Listen... for some reason I've been getting the feeling that Dr. Charlie is also evil, and it's all in the boots. I saw someone in here say they think he's the devil and I've contemplated it too. There's just something about the boots...

Charlie and Megan are also together in real life and have a nun/priest kink. Somehow, Lois knows this.

Eddie will be recruited or already has been recruited by Marshall to execute some of or all the killings.

Megan will find out that Charlie is in on the killings and will confront him, causing him to attack her or threaten her. There's a possibility she joins him. I'm 50/50 on it. Source? the voices.

No but seriously, I saw some clips in the teaser of the next three episodes and she is seen being attacked by someone with a white coat and I've convinced myself it's him.

The killer or brains of the operation knows Lois and has been by her bedside while she's in a coma. They have told her everything they plan to do in the town, which is probably why she saw all the murders in her coma dream before they happen. Source? Also the voices...

But also, seriously, in the first episode, Nurse Redd tells Lois that patients in a coma hear and feel a lot of things. So I feel like her dream was affected by both memories, perceptions and what she has been hearing. Of course not all dreams make sense, so we don't have to make sense of the whole thing. It's possible they want to explore the idea that she predicted the murders, but if she didn't, my guess is she heard about them while in her coma.

Everyone is in on the murders except Lois and Merritt. Having to survive together is what will lead to their reconciliation.

I think that's abt it, Might be more coming up, if I pick anything up or remember anything else I've theorized.

Since it's spooky season...

I recently started watching Grotesquerie and I'm two episodes in. Aside from the performances, one thing that's stood out to me is the fact that there's no explicit sense of time or place. It's undoubtedly set in small, retro leaning (right??) town, but overall, it's muddled in an uncanny way that's been intriguing.

There's even one character in particular, Nurse Redd, who almost seems like she's from a completely different time than all the others, aesthetics wise.

BUT I digress. Something that's been on my mind (which directly correlates to where I am in the show) is that each character has a thing or destructive vice that's so in-your-face. There's something about having their oddities and flaws be so overt that creates such underlying tension and unease.

I somehow managed to start this without knowing about Ryan Murphy's involvement and was sitting there like... hmmm, it's giving Ryan Murphy.

Don't know how things will pan out, but I'm along for the ride at this point so we'll see.

Ok I gotta talk about grotesquerie

(Spoilers!!!) also there’s probably a lot of grammar mistakes because I have a fever and I’m just rambling.

Ok this latest episode was such a mind fuck. Finding out that all the events of the show were just a coma dream made up by Lois was shocking at first but given how Ryan Murphy loves to force plot twists, i really can’t act like I didn’t see it coming. It’s pretty weird that all the events in the show have ultimately boiled down to “it was just a dream”.

I do have some thoughts about the comparisons between the dream and reality. I personally do think that some of the events of the dream have been influenced by what Lois may have heard around her hospital room. I’ve seen some speculation as to why Megan and Charlie hooked up in the dream but seem to be nowhere near each other in reality. I think that Megan regularly or at least occasionally visited Lois in the hospital and that could’ve been where the relationship started. We see in the dream after Megan was shot that Charlie visits her and dotes on her in the dream hospital (maybe idk) and that he does have some sort of dislike of Lois being there when he claims that Lois used her as bait which resulted in her being in the hospital.

I think that the real Charlie may have genuine feelings for Megan and that he resents Lois for not taking Megan seriously career-wise and indirectly putting her in harms way. Since he believes that Lois is not fully aware of what’s going on in reality, (which can be inferred when Marshall is sitting at Lois’s bedside and says that the doctors believe that she can’t perceive what’s going on around her) I do believe that Charlie wouldn’t have any reservations about hooking up with Megan near or in the hospital room if he believes that no one knows what’s going on. This could also coincide with the fact that in Lois’s dream, Charlie is a lust crazed man in a powerful position who does occasionally expose himself in public places when he believes no one is around (when he was spinning around in the church and the scenes of him in his room).

I mentioned this on another person’s post but megan is shown as a ditzy young nun who’s too invested in true crime, when in reality she’s the chief of police. Lois doesn’t view Megan as a serious partner/peer, so that’s how her character is viewed in her dream.

Lois has a lot of resentment directed at Merritt due to her relationship with Ed and that’s seen multiple times throughout the show. In the dream Merritt is a young woman who only really cares about eating and to Lois, Meritt’s only shot at being successful is through being on a show for fat people. In reality, Merritt is a doctor who has two doctorates and is an accomplished medical professional while also being married to Ed. In the dream Ed was seen as a handsome, confident nurse aid when in reality he’s an insecure and timid man who works a minimum wage job while he’s constantly berated by Merritt. I think in reality Lois has always been jealous of Merritt because of her relationship with Ed. Lois receives attention from Ed in both reality and the dream where he supports her and tries to help her overcome her alcoholism in the dream while in reality we only know that they had a two year affair. Lois thinks that Ed originally liked her and feels betrayed when he makes his relationship with Merritt official (in reality this could’ve been when Merritt and Ed got engaged or when he decided to officially end their affair).

Marshall and Redds involvement is kind of a shot in the dark for me but I’m just going to ramble. In the dream, Marshall is bedridden in a coma while Redd is a nurse who repeatedly challenges Lois’s relationship with him while also forcing herself on him while Marshall is unable to turn down her advances due to him being in a coma. It’s later revealed in the dream, when Redd confides to Lois, that Marshall and Redd had an emotional affair that started when he confided in Redd about his family issues. In reality Marshall and Redd have had a very long and consensual affair where Marshall is still a professor but Redd is a cam girl. I think in reality Lois saw Redd as someone who only occasionally helped Marshall and chased after him but she didn’t realize how deep their relationship was until Redd eventually told her. Redd seems to be emotionally uninterested in Marshall in reality (which happened over time due to him stringing her along) and I think she confessed to Lois because she eventually got tired of Marshall stringing her along to think that he’ll eventually leave Lois for her.

Marshall’s comatose state is pretty interesting to me. It’s revealed that when Marshall was with Redd (or other mistresses probably) in reality, he never called or spoke to Lois. I doubt that they were that talkative to each other at home and it seems that even if they did speak it was only for arguments. Lois’s mind probably put him in a coma because in reality she believes that he’s a weak man who’s unable to speak his mind (unable to end things to be with Redd or admit his infidelity) and is unwilling to reject the advances of other women which can be seen when “Nurse” Redd fondles him in his coma.

ummm… i don’t know how i feel about father charlie being revealed as the killer. or at least one of them, because i do think this is a cult and there’s definitely one or two more individuals involved with the murders.

one side of me is like yes i knew he was the killer! because of that look he gave sister megan when she suggested that it was a group of killers. but i’m also like eeehh, that look he gave sister megan was such a dead giveaway. it was such low hanging fruit, i think.

but that was definitely father charlie under that mask! it’s the same lips and moles on his chin. i thought his red shoes were gonna be the giveaway instead.

when father charlie told lois that she’s gonna stop drinking soon and that “he can feel it.” such a tiny little hint at what was to come but he failed.

i’ve seen some people ask who shot megan, and i thought it was obvious it was that nick guy from the motel. sister did walk straight into the line of fire and the kidnapper was already driving away…

sister megan lives!!! also father charlie was not sitting next to her when she woke up, yet everyone else had someone next to them keeping each other company. eddie & merritt with their movie night, nurse redd sitting with marshall in his hospital room.

i’m still trying to decide on wether charlie actually cares about megan or if he doesn’t, but that whole story about the flowers and the trail was cute. i mean he knew her favorite flowers!!! him kissing her hand was also cute i’m ngl.

i saw another theory that lois’s husband might be in the cult too and his coma is not real.

the theory of eddie being someone only lois can see is officially dead. and i have to give it to travis kelce!! he’s such a natural in front of the camera.

For 6-month-old Fayez help didn't arrive in time

At four months old Fayez breathed in dust when his neighbourhood was bombed by Israeli planes. Then a desperate fight to save the little boy began.

When the family's neighbourhood in the centre of the Gaza strip was bombed by Israeli warplanes, Fayez, then 4 months old, breathed in dust from the explosion, according to Mohammed.

- That was the first time I saw Fayes suffer. He got a very strong cough that could last from five minutes to several hours.

Thousands treated for acute malnutrition

According to Unicef, 50 000 children in Gaza suffer from malnutrition. World's Health Organization (WHO) reported earlier in June that over 8000 children under five years old have been treated for acute malnutrition since the war started. 28 of them died.

According to Director-General of WHO Tedros Gebeyesus, there are only two functioning clinics in Gaza where severely malnourished children can receive treatment.

- We have major challenges in getting emergency aid to children and families, says Unicef spoksesman James Elder to NRK from Gaza.

- A few days ago, our shipment of food and medicine to 10,000 children in northern Gaza was stopped by Israeli soldiers at a roadblock. We were unable to deliver the aid due to an alleged error in our paperwork, says Elder.

• megan was a nun (false) and she was lois' partner (true).

• charlie was a priest (false) and wore cowboy boots to his job (true)

• marshall was in a coma (false) and he was cheating on lois (true)

• nurse redd was a nurse (false) and she was marshall's mistress (true)

• eddie was a nurse (false) and he was with merritt (true)

she predicted the murders, but what else did she predict? does megan actually have to do with them? is charlie the murderer 'cause he is, after all, a doctor? if i'm not wrong, in real life, she doesn't know marshall has been cheating, but in her dream she found out, but she doesn't know it's real because it was a dream. maybe the murderer is the real priest, which we don't know who he is of course. oh my GOD, this is good television
