About Me

I am a junior at Northeastern University studying Bioengineering with a cell and tissue engineering concentration. I'm from a Halfmoon, a small town neighboring Albany, New York. I am currently enrolled in MUSC2101, Black Popular Music, with the intention of expanding my knowledge of music and Black history following the recent progress of the Black Lives Matter Movement. I'm skilled with several musical instruments including piano, cello, and guitar. My favorite genres of music include r&b, old-school hip-hop, and jazz.

My goal for MUSC2101 is to further develop my academic and music skills. This course fulfills my difference and diversity (DD) requirements for NUpath and is tailored to my interests in music. I am also interested to learn about Black history, a subject that has been relatively untouched throughout my education. This interest stems from the recent achievements of the Black Lives Matter Movement and my passion for Black-dominant music genres.

Throughout this blog, I strive to reflect on course materials and assigned readings that make me analyze personal, political, and social issues.

Goodbye 2019, Hello 2020! I can’t believe it. We did a lot in 2019 with Brio Integrated Theatre. Our NuPath group started at Brio by talking about what we wanted to do for our internship. We decided on two major projects, our first project started in the spring with Wright-Locke Farm in Winchester, Ma. We researched activities on the farm, the animals that live there and what the farm does. We visited the farm and took photos and videos, but due to the weather, we had to take a break but in 2020 we will go back and finish our project.

When the bad weather hit, we began working on a podcast. We wrote a script. Our podcast is about Halloween happenings. We created characters, including Vinnie, Brad, mummies, pumpkins, witches named Storm, Mildred and Electra and lastly, James and Judith who are the ghost bakers.

After we created the characters, we gave them a story. Our characters are preparing for a “secret” Halloween party. We are following each character as they prepare for the “Big Monster” party. We will give you details in the podcast. We are creating sound effects, including a cooking scene, burps and foul noises. We also have the party with lots of music.

Our internship has been a success, we continue working every week. We hope that you will join us in 2020 when we complete our projects.

Hi! I've recently been accepted to Northeastern and I'm really interested in Northeastern's global opportunities. I want to study computer science, but I also really want to study/work abroad. How common is it for computer science students to do co ops in Europe or do Dialogues or study abroad?

Hey there! Congratulations on your acceptance! Getting a global experience while also studying computer science at Northeastern is definitely possible, and many of my friends have done so. CCIS also has been working to make it easier for students to do this by partnering with more institutions and making schedules more flexible. So with that in mind I’ll detail ways in which CCIS students go abroad!Global Co-opThis is the least chosen option by CCIS students, mostly because the pay just doesn’t come close to what you will find in the states because of VISA reasons, cost of living, etc. With that in mind, I know I have heard of CS students taking co-ops in Germany and Japan. However, if it is something you are really interested in, it is possible.Dialogues(If you don’t know, now you know) http://www.northeastern.edu/geo/dialogue/ CCIS students won’t find any of their core CS classes on a dialogue, but a ton of students do them and fill their NUpath requirements, minor requirements, or elective requirements using them. Unless it’s major or program specific, you can choose any of them, and I’ve had CS friends go all over the world on dialogues, especially during their first summer. It’s really common for CS students to do these.Study AbroadThis will require more planning with your academic advisor, but good news is that we teach you how to plan your schedule on your own and with your advisor for this in your Overview 1 class. If you already know you want to study abroad, you’ll be just fine doing so in CCIS. It just gets harder the later you decide you want to do it because you have less classes to play around with. For reference, I’ve had friends study abroad in CS at University of Auckland in New Zealand, University of Edinburgh, Budapest, and a few others that currently escape me.In short, it is common for students to do Dialogues and Study Abroad, but more uncommon for them to do global co-ops in CS because of the drop off in pay. Congratulation again!

Description

The surface of the underside of a roof is covered 

with white flowers. People who leave from NuPath come 

here and pick a single flower for themselves. 

Then, a colored flower which was under the white

 flowers appears. 

The color of the flower can be red, blue, yellow, etc.

There are some layers of colored flowers 

under the white flowers.

"Life's Journey with NuPath" gives us an impression 

of a great future.

 It is like people graduate from NuPath and move into society.

As people leave NuPath, more flowers are picked 

and a lot of multicolored flowers appears. 

Eventually, a ray of light comes into the place 

where all flowers are picked.

We have the word called 

"Komorebi" in Japanese which represents this.

[KOMOREBI × FLOWER]

"Komorebi" is the word unique to Japan. 

It means sunlight that filters through the leaves of trees. 

It makes rooms warm, 

bright and creates a positive atmosphere. 

We replicate "Komorebi" not with trees but with flowers. 

We hope to express a great future with "Komorebi"

and multicolored flowers.

There are four roofs. 

Each of them has different levels and forms. 

However, the materials are the same.

 The unity of the appearance represents the NuPath family.

[MEMORIALIZATION]

We'd like to suggest three ways of memorializing.

 People who leave NuPath  can choose to take a single flower 

picked by themselves. 

People who stay at NuPath can see the changing installation

 and can remember those who helped change it.

Also, those who remain can always physically interact

 with the installation by touching and picking the flowers too.

NuPath Inc. has the 40-year history. 

Even though people leave NuPath, to be related to them. 

We hope the installation takes a role of showing everyone 

a great future.
