Anyone else feeling Shark Drake vibes from the whole Darkness Galactica Oblivion thing? Just the look of the card and the context with Yuudias etc. Darkness Dwarf did vanish but my instincts are still telling me that this is going to go similarly.

so today is dedicated to the actual card game so i decided to highlight a few different ZEXAL cards that i enjoy rn, keeping in mind that i don't duel.

my favorite non-Number Monster card is Galaxy Eyes Photon Dragon. this was a monster who stood out to me from the very beginning to the point where i thought he was an Xyz monster for a few episodes. i love his design and the use of the lights being out when summoned and only glowing after using the special ability. i have a plushie of him (can't remember the etsy seller, sorry) and i had the card in my phone case for a while as well as having him as my lock screen.

my favorite non-monster card, as of rn, is Rank-Up-Magic - The Seventh One. it is currently the card i have in my phone case, since i got two copies of it in those card packs i got at Cracker Barrel. i just love it as a symbol of loyalty and unity with the Barians (except Vector) and i just love the concept of the Rank-Up-Magic cards as a whole.

finally, my favorite Number card, who could've guessed it, No. 32 Shark Drake. yeah the person with the Shark pfp and 32 in their username likes Shark Drake. i have a brand to live up to. i always found it interesting that this was III's Number first cuz either he acquired it with the intent to bait Shark, making it manifest into something he would want, or he took it from someone who was also a water nerd. either way it is very funny that he had a card that had nothing to do with the rest of his deck. then, once Shark has it, we get our only real view of a Number working to possess someone and how they manipulate a person's desires into a thirst for power and destruction.

Episode 34.

This Duel has a lot of callbacks, and lots of call forwards. So we will ignore those, and discuss this episode's utility, and trivia.

Astral's OOPArts speech features Tenzen Yanagi's cards, which were recently printed last year (2022), and this year (2023).

The episode is to ensure Shark gets Number 32: Shark Drake, which will become his "main" Number, and ace monster, even after the show's airing, though the show proper will ditch it quickly in favour of Abyss Splash, then Silent Honor ARK, then post-humously the non-Number N.As.H. Knight, then the recent batch Xyz Monsters.

So yeah, it is not that important.

Much like what will happen with Alit later on, III initially uses his non-Number Xyz, Chronomaly Crystal Chrononaut to obscure his actual ace monster. He loses this Duel barely, since he is supposed to be the same level as Yuma, and Shark at this point is still stronger than him.

The Duel itself happens so we can save IV confrontation for later, and have III as the main antagonist of this Season specifically.

This episode also establishes the bandaged person in Shark's flashback is his sister. We won't know of Rio's identity until later on in ZEXAL II.

This episode, like the previous one, is written by Yoshida, so these two episodes are meant to be a two-parter. After this episode, we will break up with the Arclight part of the plot to focus on the mid-bosses, and a one-off stuff.

so what inspired your url?

it’s actually derived from my old club penguin username which was BLGTS2732 i believe

BLG standing for the band Boys Like Girls and TS of course standing for Taylor Swift. ig i didn’t wanna limit myself to just my fav band and fav singer so i changed it to just MusicLover

27 comes from the age of my favorite character Seth from Dinosaur King (i have a type)

32 could be in reference to Number 32 Shark Drake from Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL but the more likely case is that it’s in reference to the line “32 and still growing up now” from the Taylor Swift song Innocent (my fav from Speak Now) which i heavily associate with Seth

i originally used the username on Wattpad and kept it for instagram and tumblr so the author i was friends with at the time would recognize me and now i use it everywhere for that same reason
