Annoying things Kpop fans do that should stay in 2017
Since there’s only a few days left in the year, I’ve decided to compile a list of things fans should stop doing in the next year but will probably not. This is just things I personally find annoying and wish would stop or at least decrease.
Downgrading and discrediting other groups or artists. I get that you might not a certain group or artist but you shouldn’t downgrade their hard work. You wouldn’t like it if someone did it to your faves.
Degrade a group to hype your group. Look you can hype your faves all you want, just don’t downgrade or insult others to make your group better. Calling a group a flop doesn’t make your group more successful.
If you don’t like a group or artist, don’t keep up with them just so you can hate on them, don’t go to their videos or their sns accounts to leave hate. Instead why don’t you do something constructive to your fandom, like streaming your faves songs, mvs, do dance covers, write fanfics, translate stuff, I don’t know do something useful.
Listen, not everyone is going to like your faves´ music and that’s ok. It’s called having a preference, so don’t call them names just because they have a different taste than you do.
Turning everything into a competition. I swear some fans turn everything into a competition and acting as if it’s a matter of life or death.
Hating on smaller groups. I’ve seen a lot of fans be mean to small groups calling them nugu and other things. Just remember that your faves weren’t always so big, they had to start small, be humble.
Hating on big groups. They work just as hard as small groups.
Respect your faves culture.
Don’t assume you know what Koreans are like or what they like unless you’re Korean or know someone who is.
Knetz on Pann don’t represent all of South Korea just had to say it.
Assuming you know what idols think or do. Unless you have superpowers or you actually know the idol you don’t know what they’re thinking.
Demanding artists for English constantly or English subs. It’s honestly annoying, you’re stanning Korean artists don’t expect them to speak English all the time if they can.
Stop Making up drama, mistranslating things or taking things out of context just to make people look bad.
Respect older groups and new groups, respect them all.
Concept shaming. Just because a group does a concept you don’t like doesn’t mean they’re bad, again it’s just a preference.
Body shaming. Just no. stop calling idols too fat or anorexic.
Calling idols ugly just because they don’t fill your standards.
Slutshaming, this needs to stop.
Thinking that USA is equivalent to international.
Look I get you like Kpop but you shouldn’t be rude or hateful to western music artists or fans. You may not like them but just don’t be rude. It’s just common courtesy.
Look stop ageshaming, just cause a fan is 12 that doesn’t automatically make them immature and a 20 year old isn’t always mature. People are immature regardless of age.
Hating on people who don’t share your same opinion. Everyone has a right to their own opinion and you should hate or attack someone just because it’s not the same as yours.
Being fake woke or fake pc. Hating on idols for doing things you don’t agree with but defend your faves when they do the exact same thing is just being hypocritical.
You’re allowed to drop artists if they do things that you don’t agree with.
Don’t try or expect artists to have the exact same views or ideas you do. And respect their beliefs.
Diagnosing idols with mental issues or disorders. I’ve seen lots of fans with absolutely no mental health knowledge diagnosing idols with issues for the strangest reasons. As someone on the mental health field this is just wrong, you’re not qualified to diagnose idols plus you don’t know them or their lives to do it. I’ve seen people diagnosing idols who cry easily with depression.
If you don’t like all the member in a group just don’t call yourself a fan of the group and call yourself a stan to the members you do. You’ll avoid some issues this way.
If you do stan all the group, love them all. You can have your favorite but you can still love them all.
You can stan just one member in a group, as long as you don’t insult or degrade the other members.
Just because you stan a group doesn’t mean you have to stan their company or CEO. You’re here for the group not the company.
You don’t have to like every group or artist that come from a company you like.
You don’t have to agree or accept everything your faves company does. You are allowed to complain or argue with things you don’t agree with.
Don’t glorify or put a company on a pedestal. Remember that at the end of the day they’re a business just like any other, this is mostly so you don’t get disappointed when they do something you don’t agree with.
You don’t have to like everything your fave releases or does. You can, but you’re not forces to.
You can have your opinions on thing as long as they’re not offensive or hateful. Ex: “I don’t like their comeback song, I think it’s kinda boring”
Idols don’t have to make music, its nice when they’re involved with it but they’re not forced to do it, so don’t shame people that don’t do their own music. Lots of great singers don’t do their own music, doesn’t make them any less that those who do.
Comparing idols, it’s just annoying, no one is someone else’s version or copy or 2.0.
Being a solo group stan doesn’t make you better than a multifandom stan and vice versa.
Shaming fans if they can’t buy albums or merch, lots of fans are students who still rely on their parents. Just because they can’t bulk buy albums that doesn’t mean they aren’t fans.
Being offensive to a group just because you dislike their fans and vice versa, just stop being offensive all together.
Shoving artists or ships down people throats her group or artist or hate.
Spamming random content with kpop. It’s annoying
Spamming mv comment sections or vlives with another group or hateful comments.
Trying to force artists or writer to do things with your ships.
Respect other ships even if you don’t like them.
Tagging your faves in ship stuff, look its ok if you ship a pairing but don’t tag them in it ok. It could make them feel weird or their relationship awkward.
Hyping or glorifying people that have interacted with your fave. Its weird and makes no sense at all.
Being rude to idols.
Respect your faves and their family’s’ privacy.
Stealing another fans fan work and not crediting them.
Stalking idols.
Sexualizing minors, just don’t.
Taking Kpop too seriously, look at the end of the day Kpop is just another music industry that should be a nice hobby not something your mental health should be affected by it should make you happy not stressed .
Remember all these people we admire are human and they can make mistakes and feel emotions, so just be a bit more respectful, please.
I’m sure there’s a lot more but for the moment that’s all I have. Thank you if you read through it all. You don’t have to agree this is just my opinion of things that annoy me.
