eve’s masterlist
“Introducing today’s guest,” Boom began. “They’re talented performers that make us loco and that make us fall deep in love, Eve and Hyoyeon!”
Eve and Hyoyeon walked into the room behind each other. The girls waved at the cast members as they walked to the centre of the room and everybody danced to glassy. The girls stood next to each other as they waited for the speaker to start beeping.
“Ahjussi, come here,” Eve said to Kibum, waiting for him to walk around the table to join her.
The second half of the second pre-chorus of antifragile started playing, the three idols swaying along to the music. When the chorus started, they did the choreography in sync with one another, making sure to highlight Eve as the centre. Eve and Hyoyeon bowed to everyone as they went to their seats, Kibum joining along as if he was also a guest. Eve was seated next to Narae with Hyoyeon on her right, next to Taeyeon.
“We got to see a little bit of it, but you’ve got something to promote,” Boom prompted, gesturing at the two girls.
Eve nodded. “Yes, I’m having a comeback,” she announced. “The mini-album is titled eudaimonia which is a Greek word for a state of confidence,” she explained. “The title track is antifragile.”
“Antifragile,” Hanhae repeated.
“It says no matter what you say or do, I’m unaffected because I’m antifragile.”
Donghyun nodded along, looking visibly confused.
Nucksal snickered. “I’m sorry, but nobody on this side heard the song title.”
“Antifragile,” Taeyeon repeated.
“What’s that?” Seyoon asked.
“You know on boxes when it says ‘Fragile content, be careful?’” Key asked, waiting for them to nod. “It says fragile because it can break easily, but to be antifragile, it can’t break easily.”
“Why didn’t Taeyeon dance?” Narae suddenly asked, causing Taeyeon to lower her head in embarrassment. “Did she not learn the dance?”
“She did,” Kibum said. “But she gave up halfway and said she’d just support from the sidelines.”
“Yah, Taeyeon-ssi.” Boom sighed. “You should’ve learned the dance.”
“You saw how hard the dance is,” Taeyeon complained. “Besides, they did a good job.”
Hyoyeon scoffed. “Excuses and excuses,” she muttered, shaking her head.
“Ahjumma, how much dance experience do you have?” Eve asked.
“Sixteen years,” Taeyeon answered slowly.
“How can you have sixteen years of experience and think this dance is hard?”
Everyone laughed as Taeyeon’s jaw dropped open.
“I hear you also have a song with Hyoyeon?” Boom prompted once everyone calmed down.
“Yes, the song is called naughty,” she said, smiling when she was done.
“Is that it?” Boom asked, causing everyone to laugh. “You don’t have anything else to add?”
“It’s a dance song.”
“Do you have nothing to say about the song?”
Hyoyeon spoke up, “The song is about teasing someone about whether or not you’ll give them your heart. The album has a double-title track.”
“Does it have choreography?”
“Yes, it does.”
Boom gestured at the performance area. “Can we see some of it?”
“This choreography is hard,” Kibum said as the two women walked to the centre of the room.
“Really?” Hanhae asked. “How hard is it that even Key says so?”
Eve and Hyoyeon stood still as they waited for the staff to play naughty. They began to dance when the chorus played, the Amazing Saturday cast gasping at the tutting movements they were doing. Donghyun pointed at Dongyup, knowing his signature dance move was similar to the choreography as Nucksal and Narae tried to copy the dance. When the song was done playing, the two women returned to their seats as the cast clapped for them.
“Both dances have Dongyup hyung’s signature move,” Donghyun said. “Were they inspired by him?”
“Why would it be inspired by him?” Hyoyeon bluntly asked.
“Let’s continue with the show before a fight breaks out on set,” Boom joked, referring to Hyoyeon and Donghyun’s rivalry. “In her interview, Eve said she had a different mindset from the first time she was here.”
“Why?” Nucksal asked.
Eve brushed her hair behind her ear. “I feel like I focused too much on the game that I didn’t get to fully enjoy myself. I know this is a schedule, but I should still have fun.”
“Right, right,” Narae agreed.
“So, I’m not here today for work. I’m here for a good time and a cheque.”
Taeyeon cackled “‘A good time and a cheque!’”
[K.O. with one sentence]
“What if there is a song that you know?” Seyoon asked.
“I’ll pretend not to know it,” Eve answered. “Hyoyeon unnie agreed to do the heavy lifting.”
Kibum groaned. “We’re not going to eat today.”
Hyoyeon jokingly glared at him. “Yah, Kim Kibum!”
“Eve has someone from the show that made her angry,” Boom announced.
[Swiftly moving on]
“Who is it?” Dongyup asked.
“I don’t know, ask her,” Boom said, causing everyone to laugh.
“The person who made me angry is Kibumie,” Eve revealed, pointing at her brother.
“Me?” Kibum asked.
Narae gasped. “Key made you angry?”
“The episode with Kahi sunbaenim and Sunye sunbaenim was playing again recently,” Eve explained, “and during the Snack Round, the game was Choreography Delcomanie. When Yuna’s picture was shown, he kept guessing the wrong song when it was clearly WANNABE.”
Seyoon nodded. “I remember.”
“He guessed Mafia and LOCO which is crazy because Yuna didn’t have bangs during those releases.”
“He should know better,” Nucksal said.
Eve hummed in agreement. “He should.”
Taeyeon covered her mouth as she laughed. “Why is he instigating?”
“But Taeyeon noona and Hyoyeon noona aren’t innocent either,” Kibum argued, pointing at the two women who were looking at him in shock. “On Game Caterers they also couldn’t guess WANNABE right.”
“Yeah, but I gave them the benefit of doubt and chalked it up to old age,” Eve said. “At their age it’s easy to forget things.”
Hyoyeon chuckled. “I don’t know whether to be offended.”
“There’s nothing wrong with being old.”
“It’s only natural to age,” Dongyup added.
“Exactly.”
“Our oldest member is comforting Hyoyeon and Taeyeon about ageing,” Seyoon joked.
Dongyup shook his head. “No, I’m just… Let’s move on.”
Boom tapped his cue cards on the table. “Hyoyeon, what was it like to work with Eve?” He asked.
“So much fun!” Hyoyeon answered. “Sometimes, when working with producers, they don’t know what they want. You’ll be in the recording booth and they’ll say ‘Sing it like ooh but like aah’ and when you ask them to demonstrate, they tell you to figure it out. Or, they don’t know what they want at all and you have to keep rerecording the same part. But it wasn’t like that with Eve. She clearly knew what she wanted me to do. For some parts she would have five versions of how I could sing a part of the song and she would let me choose, which I found to be very impressive. Even when we–”
Eve, who looked uncomfortable as Hyoyeon kept talking, interrupted her, “Please stop.”
“Okay.” Hyoyeon nodded, causing everybody to laugh.
Nucksal wheezed. “I’ve never seen someone ask to stop being complimented!”
“She feels uncomfortable when people compliment her,” Kibum explained. “She’s so weird.”
Boom introduced Haetnim, going back and forth with her for a while. “Which market are we going to today? Shall we find out? Nolto!”
“Nice!” They all chanted together.
“Oh! That looks so good,” Kibum commented, pointing at the screen. The members danced along to LOCO as different foods were shown on the screen.
“What are we going to eat?” Donghyun muttered.
The screen showed Pork Rib Stew and everyone cheered. They watched as the food was prepared.
Eve squealed. “That looks good.”
[I want to eat pork rib stew forEVEr]
Eve cupped her cheeks and smiled as she had the One Shot. She waved shyly when she noticed she was still on the camera.
“When is it ending?” She asked, furrowing her eyebrows in distress.
“It’s gotten longer recently,” Nucksal told her. “We need enough footage for a certain amount of time, so the One Shot lasts for a while.”
“The artist for the I want to eat pork rib stew forEVEr round,” Boom began when Eve’s One Shot had ended. “They’re a cool band. A rock band.”
“Rock band?” Kibum asked.
“With cool lyrics and vocals, JANNABI!”
Eve’s lip twitched after Boom announced the artist.
“The song we’ll be doing today is from their second full album. The title track.”
Narae shook her head. “No way.”
“for lovers who hesitate!” Boom announced.
Kibum started cackling as Eve lowered her head with a sigh. The rest of the cast turned to Kibum, confusion written on their faces.
“What? What is it?” Dongyup asked.
Kibum covered his mouth with his hand as he continued to laugh. “This is one of Eve’s favourite songs,” he said, everybody turning to look at Eve, who was softly banging her head on the table.
Hyoyeon gasped. “Ah! Is it that one?” She started humming the melody of the chorus, Eve raising her hand to show a thumbs-up in confirmation.
“The production crew is panicking,” Nucksal noted with a chuckle, pointing at the staff to the right of Boom’s table. When Kibum revealed for lovers who hesitate to be Eve’s favourite song, the crew looked up in alarm. They had all exchanged panicked looks.
Taeyeon chuckled. “Production crew, fail,” she teased.
“But Eve seems more distressed than them,” Donghyun pointed out, gesturing to Eve who was still banging her head, but this time onto Hyoyeon’s hand that she placed on the table so Eve wouldn’t injure herself.
“Aigo, she came here to have fun,” Narae sympathised. “This must be hard for her.”
Eve flicked her head up, her hair flipping with the fast movement. She looked to the production crew with a pleading expression. “Why are you doing this to me? I want to have fun,” she whined.
“Don’t worry, I’ll do the heavy lifting,” Hyoyeon comforted.
“Right. Hyoyeon said she’d take the lead so that Eve could have fun.”
“So we’ve solved the problem?” Boom asked, exhaling in relief when everyone nodded. “Okay! All together. ‘I want to eat pork rib stew forEVEr.’ Donghyun will be in last place forever. Ulcha!”
“The song is slow,” Narae commented as they listened to the second verse.
“And it’s easy to hear,” Hanhae added.
They swayed in their seats as the song played, immediately holding onto their pen and notepads when the countdown started.
The part they had to dictate:
피고 지는 음을 알아요 다시 돌아온 계절도 / I know the heart that blossoms and falls, and the returned season too
난 한 동안 새 활짝 피었다 질래 또 한번 영원히 / I’ll be in full bloom for a while and then fall, once again, forever
“The instrumental was so loud,” Donghyun complained.
“His pronunciation was clear, but the guitar was clearer,” Hanhae agreed.
The cast showed off their answers one by one, starting with Dongyup, until Eve was the last person to go.
“Our protagonist that shocked the producers,” Boom said. “Eve’s panel, open!”
Eve’s dictation:
♡♡♡
Taeyeon groaned. “She really is focused on having fun.”
“Now we have to rely on Hyoyeon’s dictation,” Seyoon said.
Hyoyeon scoffed. “I wrote a lot of useful stuff.”
“What’s useful about Malularala?” Kibum asked, referring to one of the only lines in Hyoyeon’s dictation.
“It’s better than Donghyun’s,” she pointed out. “The only thing he wrote was Maeumi.”
“Ay, anyone’s better than Donghyun,” Nucksal dismissed. “We were hoping Eve would pull through and let us eat on our first try.”
Eve, who had been silent during the entire exchange, looked to the production team. “Did you get enough footage?” She asked, nodding once they sent her thumbs up. She focused again on her iPad.
“What’s she doing?” Narae asked.
Eve swiped the screen to a different notepad. The cast gasped as she unveiled her dictation.
Eve’s dictation:
…는 마음을 알… / … knows the mind…
난 한 동안 새 활짝 피었다 질래 또 한번 영원히 / I’ll be in full bloom for a while and then fall, once again, forever
“That first one was just to get enough footage for the editors,” Eve explained.
[Sweet Eve thinks about the staff]
“But this is my real dictation.”
“Why didn’t you trust me?” Hyoyeon asked, breaking through the silence that had overtaken the studio.
Eve looked at her. “I did! It’s just that Hanhae-nim kept sending me pleading looks,” she revealed, causing everyone to look at him as he hid his face.
“He did so badly that he desperately needed Eve to do well,” Narae sympathised.
Hanhae shook his head in embarrassment. “No, no, no. I just want to eat today.”
“You don’t want to eat the other days?” Donghyun asked, genuinely curious.
Kibum laughed. “Donghyun hyung can’t understand this.”
Taeyeon groaned. “He always wants to eat, that’s why his favourite round is the snack round.”
“My favourite round is also the snack round,” Eve said. “I want to dance.”
“He only likes it because of the snack, though,” Dongyup told her. “Not because he wants to dance.”
Eve nodded. “Ah, I see.”
Boom clapped his hands. “Should we find out the One Shot master for today?” The cast started nodding, preparing for the One Shot. “Please show the One Shot!”
Eve was shown on the One Shot, but since she wasn’t paying attention, she didn’t notice. Hyoyeon shook her to get her attention as the cast groaned in disappointment that they weren’t the ones to get the One Shot. Panicking, Eve grabbed Narae’s notepad to pose with.
“She didn’t prepare anything for the One Shot,” Narae revealed with a chuckle, as Eve started blushing. “Even Hyoyeon and Donghyun prepared something, but she didn’t.”
“I didn’t think to,” Eve said when the One Shot ended.
“Let’s get song information,” Boom said when everyone had stopped talking amongst themselves. “The song is about a love that could have been and a hopeful note to not let love slip away in the future.”
Preceding lyrics:
서로의 안녕을 보아요 / As we’re facing each other, let’s take a step back and say our goodbyes
Following lyrics:
그럼에도 내 또 같은 꿈을 꾸고 / Nevertheless, my love has the same dream again
“It’s a sad song,” Nucksal commented.
Narae cleared her throat. “Boom-ssi, MC, ITZY–”
“There’s no English,” Eve interrupted, knowing what question Narae was going to ask. Boom grunted, upset to have his moment stolen.
“Now he’s sad,” Hyoyeon said, pointing at Boom.
“I got impatient,” Eve said. “I’m sorry,” she apologised.
Boom shook his head, sniffling dramatically. “No, it’s fine.”
“Okay,” Eve said. “We need to fill in the first line,” she said, changing the topic back to the dictation.
“She suddenly became so impatient,” Hyoyeon commented.
“I’m hungry,” Eve admitted. “I want to eat quickly.”
“Food Lab, what are we eating?” Hanhae asked.
Narae hurriedly flipped the pages of her notebook. “The clues for this one weren’t easy. On the side of each dish, there was a graphic of a glass and there was a crack in some of them. Pork rib stew and gamjatang with rice,” she told the cast.
“What do our guests want to eat?” Seyoon asked.
“I would like gamjatang,” Eve said.
“Hyoyeon?” Taeyeon prompted.
Hyoyeon inhaled sharply. “Uh, the gamjatang has potatoes and I like potatoes and it looked like a big portion, but I want pork rib stew,” she answered, smiling proudly after.
“She told this long story about gamjatang just to say she wants pork rib stew,” Nucksal commented.
Hyoyeon chuckled. “But because Nabi is the one having a comeback, we should save all the tricks for the gamjatang round.”
“We even have most of the lyrics for this song,” Kibum noted. “We’re just missing thirteen characters in the first line.”
“Taengu, are you finished copying Eve’s answer?” Nucksal asked.
Taeyeon nodded. “I’ve finished.” Her screen was shown. The cast looked at the screen, trying to come up with additions.
Seyoon raised his hand. “In the second line, Eve wrote down ‘I’ll bloom’. And in my dictation, I heard ‘blossom’ in the first line”
“That makes sense,” Hanhae agreed.
“I heard ‘blossom and falls,’” Dongyup said.
“That could be right because it sounds like malularala,” Hyoyeon added seriously.
Taeyeon failed to keep her laughter in. “She’s very persistent.” She wrote down Seyoon and Dongyup’s suggestions. “Now we only have a few more characters left.”
“Did nobody hear the first three characters?” Narae asked.
“It was hidden behind the instruments,” Kibum complained. Eve shut her eyes, blocking her ears as she mentally replayed the song to herself. “The song should’ve started earlier because we were hearing the horn and then after we heard the lyrics.”
“Oh! Nabi’s hearing the song!” Hyoyeon exclaimed, drawing attention to Eve.
“Her eyelids are moving a lot,” Nucksal noted. “Is she imagining the lyrics sheet in her head?”
“She must be,” Hanhae agreed. “That’s so cool.”
“I know the heart,” Eve said, opening her eyes. “It’s not ‘knows the mind’, it’s ‘I know the heart.’ I remember looking up the lyrics because I kept confusing the words. And what Dongyup-nim said is right, about the flowers.” Dongyup nodded as Taeyeon edited their dictation.
“Narae noona, what did you write for the first line?” Kibum asked the comedian.
“‘Returned,’” Narae answered.
“I heard something like ‘oh sarang geshalyo’ but I don’t know.”
“I heard ‘dasi do’ then something, then ‘jeoldo,” Donghyun said.
“Dasi!” Eve exclaimed.
“Oh, she’s remembering something!”
“Dasi do… raon g… gyejeoldo,” Eve sang slowly, pausing to remember the lyrics.
Narae gasped as Taeyeon finished off the dictation. “I think that’s right.”
“We’ll get to eat at once!” Seyoon cheered.
“I don’t know if it’s right, though,” Eve said as everyone started celebrating. “If it’s wrong, don’t blame me. Blame yourselves.”
“I think this is it, though,” Taeyeon argued. “It’s clean and makes sense.”
“Yeah. Let’s finish it nicely in one round,” Dongyup agreed.
“Can today’s protagonist come to the answer zone,” Boom requested as Eve stood up.
“Make sure to write it correctly,” Kibum reminded her as she wrote the answer down, causing her to mock him.
“I’m not an idiot,” she complained, finishing up their dictation. After singing, she leaned back in her chair in fear of getting hit by the popcorn. The screen showed that the answer was correct and everyone shouted in joy. The staff brought out a tray of food for each member and placed it in front of them.
“This is really delicious,” Eve said.
“It’s time for the round Eve is looking forward to most,” Boom said. “Snack round! Let’s meet today’s snack on the screen. Nolto!”
“Nice!” Everyone cheered.
Everyone danced along to Psychic Lover as the screen showed the pudding being made.
[The KEY to happiness is Sticky Toffee Pudding]
At the end, Kibum was shown on the screen. He hurriedly raised his notepad so that the camera could see it.
be antitititifragile on september 16 at 1pm
“The pudding has arrived!” Boom exclaimed, tapping the trays with the dessert. “And there is a drink to go with it.” He placed a jug of sikye on the table as well.
“It looks so good,” Hyoyeon muttered.
“Today’s game is Lyrics in the Box Quiz,” Boom said. “In just a moment, we’ll show you lyrics with some missing words in the box. If you know what lyrics go there, shout your name and tell us the answer,” he explained. “The song will play and you will dance to it. That will decide whether or not you get to have a beverage.”
Everybody stood up in preparation for the game. Dongyup got the answer for the first round right after stealing it from Nucksal. He did his signature dance for his performance before fetching his snack. Sipping his drink, he went to sit down.
“Let’s move on. Next song, play!”
탐난다고 서두르단 결국 game set / Burning, it begins, and finally, game set
유연하게 행동해 봐 [...] it’s mine / Be flexible [...] it’s mine
<KARA – Lupin>
“Eve!” She screeched before anyone else could say their name.
Narae covered her ears with a wince. “Was that a whistle note?”
“I’ve never seen anyone react like that.” Taeyeon chuckled. “She was so fast and loud.”
“Eve, what’s your answer?” Boom asked, looking at the girl, who exhaled in relief. “Ddaeng!” He declared, since she took to answer.
“Eve!” She shouted again at record speed. “Don’t be mean,” she scolded Boom, whining. “The answer is as usual,” she answered while walking to the centre to dance to the song.
“Correct!”
Eve started dancing to Lupin when it played, amazing the cast. Since the music kept playing, she didn’t stop dancing, going on until she danced to the whole song. She bowed to the camera when she finished, before accepting her pudding and soda. Before she made it around the big table, she stopped by Haetnim and gave her her snack, causing the older woman to widen her eyes in shock.
“No, no, no,” Haetnim said, trying to give Eve back her desert, “you should eat your snack.”
“I want to give it to you, though,” Eve argued.
Narae nodded as the cast gasped. “After the first round, Eve was so worried for Haetnim.”
Eve leaned into Narae. “Is Haetnim-ssi not going to eat anything?” She asked.
“No. We got it right on the first try,” Narae explained.
Eve nodded, staring at Haetnim. “I’ll give her my food in the snack round,” she decided before continuing to eat her food.
“Yeoksi, when you’re a princess, you’re nice,” Boom complimented.
Nucksal started laughing. “Haetnim is trying so hard to get Eve to take it back,” he said, pointing at the two women who were in a heated argument.
“It’s yours,” Haetnim argued.
“And that means I can do whatever I want with it,” Eve responded, “and what I want is to give it to you.”
“You should eat it.”
“I don’t want to,” Eve said, crossing her arms over her chest. “What are you going to do about it?”
“No–”
“I don’t want to!” Eve exclaimed, walking back to her seat.”
“Just–”
“I don’t want to!” She repeated, sitting down.
“But–”
“I don’t want to.”
Haetnim sighed. “Okay. Thank you.”
“Eve-ssi can be quite stubborn,” Hanhae commented as Eve smiled at Haetnim.
“Her tone was annoying, though,” Dongyup said. “‘What are you going to do about it?’” He mimicked her teasing voice.
“She didn’t stop dancing,” Seyoon noted.
Taeyeon nodded. “She’s a good dancer.”
“What a show off.” Hyoyeon scoffed.
Eve giggled. “It’s my favourite KARA song.”
“Are you a fan?” Boom asked.
Eve nodded enthusiastically. “Total fan.”
“Out of WonSoKA–”
“KA,” Eve answered, not waiting for Boom to finish answering his question.
Hyoyeon scoffed. “She should’ve asked Nicole to feature on naughty.”
“She was busy,” Eve joked.
Kibum laughed. “She can’t even talk to Nicole,” he told everyone. “She always runs away.”
“I’ve gotten better, though!” She whined. “The other time, I lasted three minutes.”
“Congratulations,” he said drily.
They continued with the game, Nucksal getting a question right.
“Next song!” Boom exclaimed.
자 모든 걸 뒤집을 [...] / Okay, [...] to turn everything upside down
더 끝없이 우릴 가득 채울 sky / More endlessly, the sky that will fill us up
<WEKI MEKI – Siesta>
“Taeyeon!” The idol shouted. “Um, sijag-ida,” she guessed when Boom gave her the opportunity to guess.
“Ddaeng!” Boom said. “It’s similar in pronunciation, though.”
“Hyoyeon!” She shouted. “Sijag-ida,” she guessed.
“You just copied Taeyeon!” Eve shouted as Boom told her she was wrong.
“Taeyeon! Siganiya,” she said slowly, emphasising every syllable.
“Correct!”
“I don’t know the dance, though,” she said as she walked to the front. Eve joined her, dancing along to the song perfectly. When she was done, she walked back to her seat.
“Boom-ssi, if she’s dancing so hard like that, don’t you think you should give her some sikye?” Nucksal asked. “You should at least give her sikye.”
“She’s even dancing more than Key!” Hanhae added.
“I’ll give her my sikye,” Taeyeon said, taking her snacks. She dropped the drink off by Eve before returning to her seat.
“Next song!” Boom exclaimed. “Key and Hyoyeon.” He pointed at the two idols.
“Is it an SM artist song?” Hyoyeon asked. “Or a girl group?”
별들은 더 빛나고 / Skies blue like paint
시간은 [...] 지나고 / Time [...] passes
감성은 더 짙어져 yeah / Our feelings become deeper
<CHUNG HA – Gotta Go>
“Key!” He shouted, less than a second after the screen showed the lyrics.
“Both Key and Eve are answering quickly,” Hanhae noted.
Kibum scoffed. “Jeomjeom,” he answered.
Hyoyeon, thinking he was wrong, shouted her name. “Jeominjeom?” She guessed, causing everyone to laugh.
“Key, correct!” Boom exclaimed.
Hyoyeon sulked as Kibum went out to dance, Eve going to help him. When they were done, they posed back to back, facing the camera.
“Wah, they’re real stars.” Donghyun gasped in awe.
“We need to stop Eve from dancing because now I feel pressure,” Narae said.
“Unnie, just do a good job,” Eve comforted, walking back to her seat.
“I should just do a good job? Should I just let the music guide me?”
“If you know how to dance.” She shrugged.
The second last round had Hyoyeon, Narae and Donghyun still standing.
“Unnie, fighting!” Eve cheered on Hyoyeon.
“Next song, play!” Boom exclaimed.
첨부터 다시 시작하면 안 되니 [...] / Can’t we start from the beginning? [...]
니가 사랑한 내 부탁이야 / I loved you so much, it’s my favour
<SEOHYUN – Don’t Say No>
“Noona, you have to get this right,” Kibum urged Hyoyeon.
She sighed. “I know.”
“What is it?” Narae wondered aloud.
Eve tapped Hyoyeon’s thigh to get her attention then started rubbing her hands together as if she were begging. After staring at her for a few seconds, Hyoyeon got the hint. “Hyoyeon! Please,” she answered.
“After multiple attempts,” Boom started, “correct!”
Hyoyeon exhaled in relief as she and Eve went to do the dance to Seohyun’s song. She returned to her seat with her snack.
“I’m tired.”
“Last round. Who between Narae and Donghyun will win?” Boom asked.
숨길 수 없어진 나의 맘을 / I can’t hide my heart
따라와 줘, [...] / Follow me, [...]
<eve – glassy>
“Ay, this one is so easy,” Nucksal complained.
“If you don’t get it right, you’re a lost cause,” Taeyeon added.
“Is it easy?” Donghyun asked.
“It’s too easy for you to fail,” Eve told him.
Narae raised her hand dejectedly. “Narae.”
“Yes,” Boom said.
“Is it maybe… ‘glassy’?” She guessed.
“You are maybe… correct!”
She gasped as Eve pulled her to the centre of the room to dance. They did the dance, Narae struggling to follow along before posing together.
“And with that, the Snack Round is over.”
“The last dish of today’s full course. What have we prepared?” Boom asked.
“Gamjatang!” Hyoyeon chanted.
“Let’s go to the market. Nolto!”
“Nice!” They all cheered.
The screen showed the gamjatang being made and everyone watched attentively. After, Hyoyeon was shown on screen. She held up her notepad, reminding everyone to listen to eudaimonia.
“The gamjatang has been set up next to Haetnim,” Boom told them. When they had all returned to their seats after looking at the meal, he started speaking again, “The artist for the Hyoyeon wants some gamjatang round is… amazing. Narae, Seyoon and Dongyup.”
“It’s an old song,” Narae deduced.
“Legendary girl group! It’s… Fin.K.L!”
“Daebak!” Hanhae exclaimed.
“From their second full album, a b-side, Pride.”
“I was in high school when this song came out,” Seyoon said.
Eve gasped. “That’s crazy.” The cast laughed at Eve’s reaction. “I… I was still awaiting my womb escape.”
Taeyeon cackled. “‘Womb escape!’”
Narae turned to Eve. “Eve-ssi, do you want to be a comedian?”
Eve shook her head with a pout. “I’m not funny.”
“She doesn’t even realise how funny she is,” Hanhae said.
“Should we listen to the song?” Boom asked.
“Oh, right. We have a job to do,” Hyoyeon said.
The song started playing and everyone danced along.
“It’s pretty clear,” Taeyeon noted.
The part they had to dictate:
아니아니 괜히 싫다고 핀잔을 줘도 뭐라뭐라네게 심술로 큰소릴 쳐도 / No, I’m not even saying I hate you for no reason, whatever I say, even if I make a loud noise
니가볼까 몰래 감춰둔 내안에 진심 / I don’t mean it, I’m secretly hiding you, my heart
“Did you get it?” Boom asked when the song stopped playing.
Eve stared at her iPad. “What is this? What is this?”
“Did you not get to write anything?”
“I did, but… You’ll see it later.”
“Yah, mine looks better than yours,” Hyoyeon bragged.
“Should I applaud for you?”
“Yes.”
“I don’t want to.”
“It’s like watching children fight,” Kibum commented.
The cast started showing off their dictations, some being useful, others being unique, until only Eve remained to show her dictation.
“Before I show my dictation,” she started, “I just want to make it known that this is what I heard. So you shouldn’t judge.”
“Now I’m curious to see what she wrote,” Seyoon said.
Eve’s dictation:
I don’t give a shit 나도 [..] 괘찬니 / I don’t give a shit, me too [...] it’s so cool
니가 [...] 내안에 진심 / You [...] sincerely inside me
“Yah, what’s that first part?” Kibum asked with a laugh.
“It’s what I heard!” Eve whined. “Maybe DSP wanted to be edgy.”
“Is there any part that you’re sure of?” Nucksal asked.
Eve hummed as she thought. “‘You,’” she said.
“It sure is an interesting dictation,” Boom commented. “Let’s see this round’s One Shot star.”
[It’s Seyoon!]
“Yeoksi, it’s the ‘90’s enthusiast,” Hanhae said.
“Let’s reveal the syllable count,” Boom announced. The screen showed two lines with forty-two syllables in total. “The narrator talks about letting go of their pride in front of the person they like.”
Preceding lyrics:
작은 나의 가슴에 너뿐이야 / You are the only one inside my small heart
Following lyrics:
그걸 모르니 이 바보 / Don’t you know that, you fool?
“Please show the One Shot stars panel again.”
Seyoon’s panel was shown.
“I heard ‘I’, but many other people heard ‘you’ so I think we should change it,” he said.
“There’s not that many blank spaces,” Nucksal commented.
“Are we sure that ‘I’m telling you I hate you’ is correct?” Kibum asked. “Because the lyrics before that are ‘You are the only one inside my small heart’ so I don’t think they’d suddenly say they hate the person they like.”
“It’s all we have,” Hanhae said.
Taeyeon looked around. “Did nobody else hear that line?”
“I was so shocked by the first part of the line, that I didn’t hear the rest,” Hyoyeon told her member.
“I think we should add Eve’s ‘sincerely inside me’ to the end because I heard something similar and it makes sense,” Hanhae said.
Narae chewed her lip. “But it doesn’t make sense, though.”
“Why don’t we use Last Re-listen Chance?” Eve suggested.
Seyoon snapped his fingers. “I forgot we still had that!”
“Boom-ssi, why didn’t you remind us of our chance?” Dongyup complained. “We were over here stressing thinking we wouldn’t be able to give Eve the gamjatang!”
“You succeeded too quickly in the first round! We need more footage!” Boom retorted.
“But we’re hungry,” Hyoyeon added.
“I’m going to pass out,” Eve whined.
“Don’t you think you’re being too cruel?”
“We can only be so strong.”
Boom widened his eyes as Hyoyeon and Eve kept complaining, feeling overwhelmed by their complaints. “You have so many complaints,” he noted.
“I think it’s very important to tell people when you’re not happy,” Hyoyeon said.
“Let’s do Last Re-listen Chance,” he said, changing the topic. “Reveal it… now!”
[Donghyun!]
“To no one’s surprise,” Kibum commented.
The cast huddled around Donghyun to hear the song that would play again through headphones. The song played again, everyone trying to hear the lyrics.
“It’s totally ‘you,’” Donghyun said when the music stopped. “The second line starts with you.”
“What else did you hear?” Narae asked.
“Um, that was it,” he said. “I was focused on that one.”
“We already changed it,” Kibum told him.
“Yes, but we weren’t sure if it was correct.”
“Taeyeon’s going to fight him!” Dongyup exclaimed, taking note of how the idol was glaring at Donghyun.
“If you’re going to be in last place, shouldn’t you at least be useful?” Hyoyeon jokingly asked.
“He can’t multitask,” Narae said. “He can only be one or the other, but not both.”
“I heard ‘no’ blah, blah, blah and then ‘noise’ towards the end,” Eve said.
“Me too,” Nucksal said. “It was like ‘No, I don’t hate you’ or something.”
Taeyeon revised their dictation, still leaving blanks in the places they didn’t hear anything.
“Because the line after says ‘Don’t you know it, you fool’ and the part we have so far is ‘sincerely inside me,’” Hyoyeon started, “then maybe what she’s saying is ‘You’re the only one in my heart’ or something like that.”
Kibum gasped. “Why does that actually sound smart?”
“I can be smart when I feel like it,” she bragged.
“At the end,” Hanhae began, “I heard ‘Make a loud noise.’”
Taeyeon nodded, writing it down. “Let’s just go with this and then use one of the chances,” she suggested.
“You’re not gonna eat a lot of the gamjatang, right?” Eve asked, causing everyone to laugh.
“I’ll make sure there’s still a lot for you,” she reassured in a teasing tone.
“Okay.”
Seyoon went to the answer zone and wrote down their answer. When their answer was revealed to be wrong, he returned to his chair.
“You got it wrong, so now Haetnim gets to eat half of the gamjatang,” Boom told them. “Mukbang, log in!”
“Thank you for the food,” Haetnim said as she started eating. “Wah, this tastes so–”
“Please don’t describe it,” Eve pleaded. “I think I might cry.”
“I won’t describe it.” She had another spoonful of the food, groaning in pleasure. “Really.”
“It must be nice,” Narae sighed.
“Okay, here’s your hint panel,” Boom said as the hint panel was shown on the screen.
“Which one should we go with?” Taeyeon asked.
“All Spacing?” Eve suggested.
“But with 70% Speed, you get to hear it twice,” Dongyup tried persuading.
Hyoyeon shook her head. “But sometimes you don’t get it even if you use 70% Speed,” she argued. “You just get frustrated.”
“That’s true,” Narae agreed.
“If Eve-ssi says we should do All Spacing, then let’s do it,” Hanhae said.
“Let’s see the dividing show!” Boom shouted. The screen showed the blocks dividing into the correct spacing, the cast realising that some of their dictation didn’t fit into the space.
“We should change this.” Taeyeon circled a part of the second line.
“Let’s listen to it now,” Seyoon said.
“Listen! Write! Eat! Ulcha!” Boom said before the song started playing again.
“Hiding?” Kibum said when the song finished playing. “I heard ‘Hiding’ in the second line.”
“What’s hiding? This is hard.” Narae groaned.
“Hanhae heard something!” Seyoon announced to the group, paying no mind to Hanhae’s refusal.
“What was it?”
Hanhae sighed. “I’m not fully sure –”
“How sure are you?” Eve asked.
“About… 98%”
Eve nodded. “You might as well keep it to yourself then.”
The cast laughed at Eve’s reaction.
“She immediately shut him down!” Nucksal cackled.
“With gamjatang on the line, 98% isn’t good enough.”
Donghyun gasped for air. “What makes it funnier is she isn’t trying to be funny.”
“You’re all laughing, but she’s staring at you seriously,” Boom added.
“Hanhae, tell us,” Dongyup encouraged through his laughter.
“Before where Key said he heard ‘hiding,’ I heard ‘sincerely,’” He told the cast.
“Sincerely?”
Taeyeon gasped. “That makes sense. She has a crush on this person. ‘Sincerely hiding you, my heart.’” She wrote it down in their dictation.
Nucksal nodded. “It’s the rare day where Hanhae helps us.”
“Let’s go with this!” Dongyup cheered.
“Okay, Hanhae-ssi.” Boom gestured for Hanhae to go to the answer zone.
“Wouldn’t it be funny if this were wrong?” Donghyun asked.
“Funny for who?” Eve countered, causing everyone to laugh.
“The gamjatang has made her very sensitive,” Hyoyeon noted. “It’s okay.” She patted Eve’s back.
Hanhae sang out their answer, waiting a few seconds before he was hit with popcorn.
“Now Haetnim gets to eat another quarter!” Boom announced just before their hints were shown on screen again. “Make your choice.”
“Let’s go with Number of Wrong Words,” Hyoyeon suggested.
“Then we can know how much we need to change,” Narae agreed.
“Eve, what do you want?” Taeyeon asked.
Eve, who was staring blankly at the screen, just blinked her eyes slowly. “I don’t care,” she admitted with a chuckle. “Even if we get the gamjatang, it won’t be enough.”
“Aigo, she’s not enjoying herself,” Nucksal groaned. “Now she knows how I feel every week.”
“I feel emaciated.”
“Yah, stop exaggerating,” Kibum scolded. “It hasn’t been that long since you last ate.”
“Are you going with Number of Wrong Words?” Boom asked. When they had confirmed, he showed them that they had one wrong word. “The song is going to play one more time. Listen! Write! Eat! Ulcha!”
The song played once more, everyone trying to listen to what the wrong may be. When the song ended, Seyoon stood up excitedly.
“He heard it! He heard it!” Narae said.
“How didn’t we get it?” Seyoon chuckled. “It’s so clear.”
“What is it?” Donghyun asked.
“I don’t mean it, I’m sincerely hiding you inside my heart,” he told them what he had heard. Everyone’s eyes widened in shock.
“Hyung, you’re a genius!” Nucksal gasped out.
Taeyeon reviewed their dictation. “It makes sense! It even fits the spacing and syllables.”
“We’re going to eat!” Hyoyeon cheered.
“Eve-ssi,” Boom called out, waiting for her to look at him. “You don’t look convinced.”
“It feels wrong,” she said.
“Why?” Hanhae asked.
She blew raspberries lightly. “Probably because it is.”
Hyoyeon cackled. “Why are you suddenly so funny?”
“But, as someone who was in highschool when this song came out,” Seyoon started, “this feels like the lyrics of that time. The lyrics feel like something Fin.K.L would sing.”
“If the ‘90’s enthusiast says it’s true, then we have to trust him,” Hanhae said. “It looks clean.”
“Hyung, go to the answer zone,” Kibum told Donghyun.
Donghyun went to the answer zone and wrote down their answer, singing it as well. The cast had stood up as they waited with baited breath for the results to show. Eve turned to hug Hyoyeon, hiding her face in the older woman’s neck. The song played once more, this time also showing the lyrics. When it got to the end, Hanhae sighed.
“Ddaeng!” Boom exclaimed, announcing their failure. Eve turned to look at him in shock as Seyoon got hit by the popcorn.
Everyone watched in silence as Boom gave Haetnim the okay to finish the food. Dongyup glanced at Eve, curious to see her reaction. Seyoon drooped his head, not wanting to see Eve’s face.
“The gamjatang with rice that Eve wanted is going to Haetnim,” Boom announced, laughing at everyone’s reactions. “I think this is the most upset you’ve been to not win food.”
“It’s because Eve really wanted this one,” Nucksal said. He leaned back in his chair, shaking his head.
“I’m sorry,” Eve spoke up, voice soft due to her state of shock, “but what exactly do you know?” She asked Seyoon, causing everyone to laugh quietly. “I’m not angry,” she said, shaking her head. “I’m just curious.”
“Eve really is distraught,” Hyoyeon said, pointing at the younger girl who was staring at Seyoon.
“She’s not even speaking formally,” Taeyeon added.
One of the producers went to Eve, giving her a bowl. “Haetnim said this is for you,” he revealed, walking away soon after.
“Thank you,” Eve replied, bowing to Haetnim. Haetnim gave a thumbs up at Eve.
“Is she the only one getting food?” Seyoon asked, turning to look at the mukbanger.
“Do you think you also deserve some?” Eve asked, voice suddenly stern. The cast laughed.
Narae clapped her hands. “She looks like she’s about to swear at him!”
“Nabi-yah, deep breaths,” Kibum instructed through his laughter. “Inhale and exhale.”
“I mean, I told him his answer was wrong,” Eve argued, looking at Dongyup, who nodded along, “but he kept insisting.”
Hanhae nodded. “Right,” he agreed.
“He kept saying that he was in high school when the song came out and he listened to it a lot!”
“Right, he did.”
“What does that matter if you don’t know the song?”
“You’re right.”
She sharply turned to look at Hanhae. “You keep quiet because you agreed with him.” Hanhae laughed in embarrassment.
Taeyeon cackled. “Tell him Nabi-yah,” she said.
Hyoyeon massaged Eve’s shoulders as she laughed. “Why are you so tense?”
Narae picked up the spoon from Eve’s bowl of gamjatang. “Open up, Eve-ssi,” she said, feeding the younger girl. Eve chewed the food, furrowing her eyebrows in distress.
“I want to go home,” Eve said when she swallowed the food, causing everyone to laugh.
“Is the gamjatang good?” Donghyun asked.
“Very,” she answered, voice still stern.
Dongyup clapped his hands as he laughed. “Eve-ssi should be on Amazing Saturday more often.”
“Would her heart be able to handle it?” Narae asked.
Seyoon approached Eve hesitantly. “I-I’m sorry. What should I do to unbreak your heart?”
“Can I have Doritos?” Eve asked, her voice sweet.
Dongyup clapped his hands as he laughed. “She could’ve asked him to get a bigger bowl of gamjatang, but she instead asked for Doritos.”
“If she had to choose between money and happiness, she’d choose Doritos,” Hyoyeon said with a sigh.
“I’d choose money so I can buy Doritos because they give me happiness,” Eve corrected.
“I’ll get you Doritos,” Seyoon vowed.
“Thank you!” She gave him a hug.
“How was today, Eve-ssi?” Boom asked when Eve and Seyoon had stopped hugging.
“Uh, I came here to have silly, goofy fun and instead I had nothing,” she said. “Although I was malnourished, I did enjoy myself in the snack round.”
“And Hyoyeon-ssi?” He asked, laughing.
“I had so much fun! Watching everyone fight over the answer was nice and I really enjoyed the pork rib stew.”
“Okay, everyone. We’ll be back with healthier laughs,” Boom said the outro, Kibum saying it with him. “Nolto!”
“Nice!”
