honestly i feel like syzoth could have killed shang tsung literally at any point. like he turns into a ten foot tall lizardman with sharp teeth and acid vomit. AND he could easily have gotten the other experiments in shang tsungs lab to rally behind him.

but then that just goes to show you just HOW scared he was of shang tsung. he had no way of ensuring anything like that would work, and even the smallest mistake would have resulted in his familys deaths (of course, he has no idea that theyre already dead anyway). not to mention that like even in the event that it DID work, he would have no way of knowing where his wife and son were being kept. syzoth likely had to exercise WAY more restraint than anyone gives him credit for for how much he allowed shang tsung to walk all over him
