I've been thinking about writing again bc for the first time in 2 years I have free time again (NOT an exaggeration. School and work and internships and stuff have kept me BUSY)

No quirks. The ghosts do get some abilities but they're not like their quirks at all

I'm excited about this one most and have the most clear path forward on this one

Aizawa is alive in this one and not a ghost. Making him a ghost would throw a huge wrench in the plot as its currently written, but could easily be tweaked now that im thinking about it. i would have to rewrite everything i already have written though

Magic Pirates:

Not everyone is human and there is some angst surrounding this. As well as in general

Shinsou will definitely be here in the later story. Mentor and student focused relationship with the adults

Less clear about the plot and motivations on this one

Werewolf:

Potentially oboro could be there. I'm thinking about it, but it complicates the story so I'm leaning towards no

IT'S TIME FOR TRIVIA BITS ABOUT CHAPTER 2 SO BUCKLE UP IT WAS A LONG CHAPTER

First shout-out goes to the fact that the opening cloudmic bit is the only part of chapter 2 that existed when chapter 1 was posted.

Shouta's habit of picking at his nails and shit when he's nervous and the fact the entire second bit of the chapter is shaped like that is a @shabby-blog idea that I ran with because I HAD NO IDEA where to go with the segment after cloudmic

i knew where this chapter needed to go (the reveal) but getting there was so stressful

NOBODY. NOT A SINGLE ONE. HAS BROUGHT UP THE RING DROP. I AM DISAPPOINTED. Shouta having wanted to ask Emi to marry him being the KEY factor in their breakup was also responsible for that Shouta and Kohana talk in a way and I loved it

So there's a lot of scenes in this chapter specifically that I've had in my head for years, particularly the reveal scene. I've known since the beginning that Nemuri would see them first, and it jumped between being when Shouta got home from running to just casually forgetting to wear his wristbands in the apartment. But I could never work out how to get it RIGHT with those and ended up with the one in the chapter. Where it got buried in the World's Okayest Uncle mug which is the BEST way I could have done it.

THE TOUYA SCENE GUYS. There's a LOT of backstory to the Todorokis being in Stray and it boils down to- Shouta became the teacher who looked out for his students and made a difference, and Touya is one of those. There's a whole spin off for Touya and his siblings in my head that basically begins with Shouta telling Touya that if he needs help he should ask, and Touya ASKS. And at first Touya kinda begrudgingly admits he's thankful he asked for the help since it gets him and his siblings to safety, but then it leads to Shouta becoming somewhat of a father figure to him. There's SO MUCH that I could write for it if I ever get off my ass. But for more quick details about Touya in the Stray universe- he does wood/metal burning art. He met Keigo while he still had a shitty convenience store job and they've been together 2 years. He's a sarcastic asshole but I love him

BACK TO STUFF THATS BEEN IN MY HEAD FOR AGES, SHOUTA TELLING THE BOYS. It was always going to go wrong! Hizashi was always going to be upset when Shouta said that he didn't want to know them, things were always going to get worse before they got better. And minus the dig about Shouta not deserving Emi, the scene has remained pretty much the same in my head as it is in the story and I'm GLAD

obviously that meant I had to do the bit where Oboro demanded he apologized

NOW FOR SOME OUTSIDE TRIVIA REAL QUICK

everything written up until Hizashi and Oboro talk following them learning Shouta's their match was written over the course of 2022-2023 in VERY sporadic bursts. The tiny bit where Shouta gets home and tells Emi he's fine was written on New Year's Eve. EVERYTHING after that point was written last week in the days before I posted it, thanks to the Vyvanse fueled writing binge I went into my last week off work. This might be why the last few segments of the story are SO LONG comparative to the rest of the stuff. Obviously I love this story very much but I had a hard time writing this chapter so knocking it out and finally getting it done was SUCH A RELIEF. And it would have taken so much longer if I hadn't had my medicine fueled writing spree

Now, another thing that's always been planned from the beginning is Shouta running away after he tells Hizashi and Oboro. Oboro was always going to be the one finding him. Most often this was a very heated scene where Oboro finds Shouta and Shouta tries to get him to leave him alone, but when it came to planning it for real something softer seemed better. It was an outline of the last bit of the chapter I wrote out for Shabby that was the first time the idea of Shouta returning to the park from his childhood came up and just the idea of Oboro and Shouta having a serious conversation on the swings was way too good to pass up. I'm very proud of how that scene turned out, honestly. Shouta telling Oboro he'd found Sushi was also always a part of it, and so was Oboro having kept the umbrella

Shouta going to his sister first when un-running away was somewhat supposed to mimic when he first saw her again in chapter 1. Speaking of things related to Kohana, the idea of Shouta having attempted to run away from her early on was a spur of the moment choice that I'm happy with

Shouta telling Emi about the ring was NOT in the plans but it felt right. There was a lot of closure in chapter 2 for things like that, and I liked that I was able to splice it in before the big FINAL moment

THE BOYS TALK IT OUT. Obviously another big scene I've had in mind. I always knew it'd be an infodump for the readers because it kind of warranted it. Shouta had to be able to explain why this whole thing was so much of a struggle for him and it was meant to show him as ready to open up to them, which I hope to god came through as more than just him throwing this awful stuff at them. Oboro giving Shouta the umbrella back is one of my favorite things I've kept in my head since forever. And connecting Hizashi and Shouta through the overdose was another thing that was relatively newer (still old enough that Shabby only knew the story WITH that connection). I knew it was going to hit hard, but it gives Shouta this moment to realize that without Hizashi being there for that- AS TRAUMATIZING TO HIM AS IT WAS- he never would have made it to this point. He wouldn't have gotten to see his sister again or enjoy the time he had with Emi or even know something as small as the fact that Sushi lived too. It's a good payoff for both of them- Hizashi now knows that this person is alive, and Shouta now has someone to thank for him being alive. This whole ending scene was hard to write since I wanted to make sure it wasn't BORING but also it was SO NICE to finally get it out of my head.

this chapter was 30k. Next chapter will not be 30k because holy shit. It doesn't need to be. But I ended the chapter on the idea of them being at minimum friends, so the last chapter will focus on when they're TOGETHER. Because it does happen. I just have to work out how I'm going about that since I haven't written any of chapter 3. I deserve a break after my ridiculous writing spree.

I’m working on a comic of them but for now here are some headcanons!!

- These two are ABSOLUTELY karaoke buddies and they sing romantic duets even before they get together. Not their fault that You’re The One That I Want slaps!

- This is kinda obvious based on how often I draw it but Oboro carries Hizashi around on his back all the time and it started as a joke about how Hizashi is so distractible that if you don’t literally carry him he’ll end up four blocks away buying old Elvis Costello records

- Speaking of which, Hizashi has a record player even though they’re Ancient and it’s next to impossible to get vinyls that aren’t damaged. Oboro puts literal hours into finding him good vinyls for his birthday :)

- Hizashi will not stop writing Oboro songs and raps and Oboro always loves them no matter how bad they are.

- They like to cuddle face to face like cats :)

- Oboro has 100% done the Aladdin Whole New World sequence using his clouds instead of a magic carpet and Hizashi considers that the peak of romance AND the peak of comedy

- Hizashi helps explain stuff to Oboro and Oboro helps Hizashi stay focused and they both swear they’d be failing without being each other

- They watch foreign films together so Hizashi can practice translating and Oboro actually picks up a good amount of English and Mandarin and French from it

- When they’re annoyed with each other (or sometimes when they’re just pretending to be) they try and make Shouta deliver messages back and forth between them and he Hates it

because i am in love with two boys sharing half a braincell ____ "I am suffering," Oboro said dramatically, dropping down into the top row of the bleachers, draping his body across two and a half seats, and resting his head in his boyfriend's lap. Hizashi's hand immediately found his hair, as always, and he gave him a knowing grin. It was always so nice to be on the exact same wavelength.

"It's downright unfair, right?" Hizashi asked, "A tragedy fate has put in front of us." He was already talking well enough for having been punched in the throat about half an hour prior. Recovery Girl really was a miracle worker.

Oboro's nose still felt tender from being broken. But he couldn't find it in himself to mind. "Truly," he lamented, "Such beauty should not be walking the earth, and such power cannot be contained in a body so small and adorable."

"What the heck are those two on about again?" someone murmured.

"Eh, I just block them out by now," was the reply they got.

Oboro snorted. Always good to have supportive classmates. Though they were really mostly alright, just tired of shenanigans. Tough luck for them.

"He must be treasured and protected," Hizashi said with a nod, "Even though he broke your pretty nose."

"You think my nose is pretty?" Oboro batted his eyelashes up at him and Hizashi laughed.

"Your everything is pretty, O."

"... not as pretty as Aizawa though."

Hizashi sighed wistfully. "Yeah. He just takes the cake."

"Mmh, cake," Oboro said, then shook himself. "No, wait. Cake later. First, operation woo Shouta Aizawa."

Hizashi wiped an imaginary tear from his eye. "God, I love you so much."

After getting dressed, Oboro's morning was spent in front of the mirror. He kept talking to himself, telling himself this was going to be good. Everything would be fine. He'd ask, and it's be great because he'd say yes.

Hizashi would say yes, and then he could finally call him his boyfriend. He was excited, to say the least. But nervous, too. Very, very nervous.

He shook his head. It was going to go right! Oboro was very confident in that fact.

Oboro left the house that morning with a huge grin on his face. This wasn't much different to usual, but he was definitely perkier this particular morning. He met his friends at school.

Now it was just a waiting game. Until he could get Hizashi alone and finally confess how he felt.

When lunchtime rolled around, Oboro told both other boys he'd be back soon and they should head up to the roof without him. He wanted to give himself one last mirror pep talk before he went up himself, so he headed to the bathroom.

He spoke to his reflection in the empty bathroom for ten minutes or so before deciding that this was it. He was finally ready. He left the bathrooms and started climbing the stairs that lead to the roof.

Up.

His heart pounded in his chest.

Up.

He tried to imagine Hizashi's response.

Up.

He thought about how happy he could make him.

Up.

He pictured Hizashi's smile. His laugh, too.

Up.

It was coming.

Up.

The thing he'd waited so long to do.

Up.

An opportunity he might not get again.

Up.

Up.

Up.

Then the door to the roof swung open and he stepped out, smiling as usual.

And then he felt his heart split in two.

He swallowed dryly and the happy butterflies he'd just had swirling around sank to the pit of his stomach. He watched Hizashi pull away from Aizawa's lips at the sound of the door closing.

"Oboro, hey-"

Oboro blinked, forcing his grin to return. He tried his best to sound as excitable as always, "hey! congratulations, you two, i didn't know-"

He watched them as they explained that this was only recent, and that they were going to tell him when he came back, but he wasn't really listening. Instead, he just told them he'd been so long because he didn't feel well, and he'd just come up to tell them that he was going home. They both nodded and wished him well - typical "I hope you feel better soon"s that you'd get from friends.

Then he left, trudging back down the stairs. He left school, but he didn't go home. No, instead he went to the tree house in the woods that the three had found a few weeks prior. He climbed the ladder and sat down on the wooden floor, dropping his bag beside him.

He took deep breaths, hoping to keep his calm, but it didn't work. He started to cry, breaking down into small sobs as he tried desperately to wipe his tears away with his hands. They came too fast for that, though.

His chest hurt - stinging, burning almost. It wasn't a nice feeling. Not at all. He wanted more than anything for it to go away. Why did he have to find out like that? Maybe if he'd just been told, he'd have taken it better. Or on another day. But he'd spent so long building up his courage to finally tell Hizashi how he felt and maybe have something happen between them.

But no.

He'd just have to settle with second best, wouldn't he?

OOPS okay I didn’t mean to get all up in my feels but I have a scene from the Bonnie & Clyde AU I wanna run by you.

I can’t believe I didn’t think of this song when you asked for recs for the playlist, but... Blood Bank by Bon Iver. This is a song I frequently listen to when I need to write emotional scenes and here’s the scene that just invaded my brain.

Idk yet how they get introduced so I’m leaving that plotline up to you, but let’s say Hizashi and Shouta meet. Shouta and Nemuri start going on heists with Hizashi and Oboro to get some extra cash (even tho Hitoshi hates it).

So maybe the third or fourth time they go on a heist, it’s a total bust. Like shit-hits-the-fan bust, maybe the bank teller has a gun or somebody throws hands instead of giving up easily. The gang makes it out, maybe little bruised, but not broken. They were a few towns over so Hizashi starts the long drive home -cue the song... (1/2)

real quick lemme buckle down and interject with their first meeting before i forget for the gazillionth time:

it’s mundane in a way, nothing as fancy or as wild as when hizashi and oboro met nemuri. as you said, after cloudmic meet nemuri, they pawn off the stolen car three towns over and return to the aizawa’s hometown with the cash. oboro and hizashi figure they wouldn’t have gotten that score without her so they wanna hunt her down and share the profit before moving on to somewhere else. so about a week and a half/two weeks later nemuri’s walking down an alley, heading home when oboro and hizashi pop up on either side of her like fuckin howl to sophie in his introductory scene in howl’s moving castle. oboro slings an arm over her shoulders and she gears up to punch his lights out but stills in recognition. oboro’s mismatched bright blue and yellow eyes are unmistakable after all. (i’ve attached his design for this au hehehehe i have many oboro thoughts....)

anYWAY. hizashi and oboro give nemuri her share of the money, she declines once for the sake of politeness but takes it eagerly after the formalities are dismissed. like fuck!! this is gonna be able to get shouta new boots! this is gonna feed them like fuckin kings!! she’s so excited and she throws her arms around hizashi and oboro’s necks and squeals in their ears. it’s nice and they make a plan to meet up again. and they do!! they gets drinks, they paint the town red, the boys introduce nemuri to a different kind of life. the risk of crime is nothing compared to the adrenaline high and the security it can provide her family. the power it gives her. 

shouta notices the influx of money, he can’t not! that first night, she came home and pressed more cash into his hand than ever before. so he asked for the first time in ages, “where did you get this?” and she just said, “a friend” and shouta could tell it wasn’t the truth but it wasn’t a lie either. he left it, didn’t press, and just bought himself the new shoes he’d been needing for months now. some part of him assumes it was just a generous client. an especially nice client with especially full pockets. and it keeps happening. hitoshi seems to be finally growing outward instead of only upward. shouta doesn’t want to look a gift horse in the mouse but this is out of the norm and he can’t help his curiosity! he wants to know whose dime they’re eating on dammit! 

meanwhile cloudmicnight are becoming fast friends!! nemuri mentions off-handedly to oboro that she has two younger brothers and he latches on right away “nemuri, i want to meet them!! please please please!!! are they just like you? mini-nemuris?” nemuri brushes him off, she’s hesitant to involve shouta with these two. she’s never asked him to make money for their family, she needs him to take care of hitoshi, she can handle putting food on the table all by herself. and god no she doesn’t want hitoshi involved in this, that just screams mess. so she ignores oboro until of course, oboro mentions it to hizashi and it’s two against one. unspoken leader that he is, hizashi gets want he wants, and if he wants to meet shouta and her kid brother, fine. 

shouta decides to snoop. it’s not just the cash flow!! nemuri comes home grinning like a fucking fool one time too many, something’s up. so shouta follows her into town one night, tells hitoshi he forgot something at the store earlier, be back in a while. nemuri walks through alleys. shouta keeps his distance. the sun sets and he moves closer. shouta watches nemuri embrace a man who looks their age. is this him? he’s a little young to be that loaded, right? the man is tall and his poofy blue hair sprouts out the top of an aviator-esque cap. is he a pilot? shouta wonders. 

suddenly a hand is gripping his shoulder and there’s someone speaking much too close to his ear, “you got business with ms. aizawa? or is there some other reason you’re followin’ her?” 

shouta whips around to face the man invading his space, his heart pounding, who is this? how does nemuri know these men? she doesn’t tell him anything!! shouta glares up at the blond man, “yes, i do, considerin’ i’m mr. aizawa.”

the blond’s stern expression falls straight into confusion and shock, “huh?” 

“shouta?! hizashi!” shouta turns to glare at his sister. 

“nemuri! explain!” he sounds petulant, yes, but he’s sick of being out of the know and playing house! he’s not a fucking child! he’s fucking 30 years old! 

“you’re married?!” the blond man, hizashi apparently, all but shrieks as nemuri and the pilot (?) make their way over.

“married?!” shouta and nemuri shout in unison. the pilot bursts into laughter, bright and airy, like a cloud on a sunny day. 

“zashi, i think he’s her brother” the pilot says lightly, he grins and holds out his hand to shouta. “nice to meet you, i’m oboro.” 

hizashi and nemuri’s eyes flick between oboro’s outstretched hand and shouta’s flabbergasted expression before they burst into twin fits of giggles. “of course!” hizashi gasps. nemuri places her hand on shouta’s shoulder, nudges him forward, urging him to shake oboro’s still offered hand. shouta grips it and somehow oboro’s smile widens even further. then nemuri turns him toward the blond man, now sheepishly flushing a pretty shade of pink and nervously twirling a lock of his long golden hair. shouta tries not to stare. nemuri’s tone is alight with something akin to mischief when she says, “aaand this is hizashi. hizashi, this is shouta. make nice.”

oh u know i got scream man angst, love some scream man angst. a lot of these are erasermic or cloudmic or a combo, since ya know, they kinda got fucked up together and that causes angst <3

underneath the stars we came alive- rooftop gang&kurogiri centric, short hints of cloudmic that you can ignore if its not your thing (fic is platonic relationship focused). Oboro died and Hizashi missed him, so when a strange doctor offered the opportunity to get Oboro back, Hizashi pounced on it. Except, Oboro didn't come back quite right.

Synonyms for Loud- mic centric. Hizashi learned from a young age that admitting his parents gave him up because of his quirk did not earn him any friends. So what will he do when he's given the opportunity to do real good for others, at the price of exposing that he's an orphan?

And The Sky Wept- mic pov, focused on erasermic's relationship post oboro's death, pre canon timeline. fic is fully written but not fully released. Aizawa left Hizashi's life for seven years on bad terms. what happens when they meet again?

Now Recording- high school mic centric, pre oboros death. What happens when Hizashi realizes his friends don't treat him well? Will he have any friends at all?

Present Mic's Totally Bullshit Life- been meaning to reread this one, it's a long one! Similar premise to and the sky wept, mic and aizawa try to recover their friendship years after oboro's death.

Canary- mic almost dies lmao, has a deathbed confession except he forgot to do the actual dying part. erasermic, short but good.

Dreaming of You- NSFW, erasermic. Mic is cursed to live as a incubus, and he meets an interesting man who has survived more demon encounters then he should have. Could this be his chance to become a human once more?

Rooftop Necromancy- I've linked the fic series, some are NSFW and some are completely SFW. Erasermic band au where Oboro dies and in his grief, aizawa writes a book that fucks up the rest of Hizashi's life. They eventually try to make it work.

Enchanted- Hizashi is hit with a quirk that makes him do whatever is asked of him, and the first thing that's asked of him is that he tells no one. Will Hizashi manage to survive? Erasermic.

The Resurrection of Hizashi Yamada- erasermic, traitor mic. The bulk of the fic follows one Yamada Hizashi, years after he's served his sentence, as he laments the life he threw away and tries to piece a new one back together. It starts when Mic decides to turn himself in.

Daydreaming- erasermic, slight nsfw. The world thinks that Mic is the UA traitor. They also think he's dead. Aizawa is determined to prove them wrong.

Now that Stray Part 1 has been out for a week I'm dropping some fun little trivia about it!

-Oboro very often has a copilot named Keigo Takami. This is somehow relevant to the plot (in part 2)

I don't know who caught it but the bartender where Oboro and Hizashi reunite is Kurogiri because I found it hysterical to include him somehow

my honest to go favorite line is "Emi wonders if she can sue Shouta for emotional damages" tied with "PRESENT MIC DROPPED NUDES?". The absolute deadpan way I set up Emi just laying there staring at Shouta is still one of the funniest things to me, and Oboro being completely unrestrained in his interest for Mic is the best

In the original version of the story that read more like an outline, Shouta had to take Kaminari and Mina's phones because they would not get off Twitter and I described Mina's phone as a pink bedazzled affront before god and honestly, I should have left that in

Oboro still has Shouta's umbrella.

Keeping the Sushi Origin Story almost exactly the same was a Decision that surprisingly worked. That intro to the two of them in vigilantes lives rent free in my head and getting to play with it where the same thing still happens but the two don't already know each other was a lot of fun.

If Emi and Shouta had also gotten matching tattoos the one that represented her would have been the laughing emoji

There is SO MUCH more of this story to go, because I've thought of it in arcs. Part 1 is the Setup, hence why there's all the backstory tidbits and all the getting together for cloudmic. Part 2 is the Found the Cat arc, which is going to be a doozy because Shouta's got a lot of shit to go through there. Part 3 is the Happy Ending arc. Because yeah this story is going to be happy and fun and the erasercloudmic tag is on it for a reason.

Bnha for the fandom thing

oo okay strap in folks im gonna do some longer answers for this.

The character I never expected to love as much as I do now:

Definitely Bakugo Katsuki. I remember everyone ragging on abt how awesome and cool he was before I watched the show, then I watched the first 2 seasons and genuinely didn't like him. I pretty much hated him, until I started the read the manga and finished the series for the first time. I only really 'liked' him at first but after a couple of rewatches he became my favourite.

The character everyone else loves that I don’t:

KIRISHIMA SORRY. I don't like fanon Kiri at all, he's genuinely one of the worst fanon characters I've ever seen within any fandom ever. He's full of stereotypes and boring character traits that completely ruin what his canon character is about. He's annoying and nothing like his canon counterpart. Plus he's never said 'Bakubro' once in his life holyshitpleasestopit.

Canon Kiri is alright. but his stans are *mostly* infuriating

The character I love that everyone else hates:

hmm honestly idk. there isn't really a bnha character that *everyone else* hates. except maybe Mineta but I don't like him at all.

The character I used to love but don’t any longer:

Again, Kirishima. He was one of my favourite characters when I started watching the anime but his stans and the fandom ruined him for me.

A pairing that I love:

BKDK/Dynabun/Katsudeku/any other name for the ship. I adore them so fucking much. They're genuinely one of the most developed and canon-like ships in the show, and one of my favourite pairs ever. I can't wait to see where their story goes.

Erasermic is my other favourite ship. I just adore the loud blond/quiet emo kid childhood friends-to-lovers trope. Plus I kin them both (like bkdk) so I guess its just appealing to me.

Theres a lot of other pairings that I like, in no specific order;

A pairing that I despise:
