God I remember him offhandedly saying that Phil was a Six before with the most confidence and having to pause to take a breather-- this is what happens when we don’t talk about counterphobia in Sixes we get Nines as collateral OTL. Like homie I don’t know how to say this but that’s trauma holdover from a rough childhood not being a Six. I’m standing firm on Phil being a very dad-friend flavored Nine.

He’s forgiven for thinking that Q is a Three because people don’t talk about how ambitious Fours can get. I wrote here on why it’s important that he’s a core Four and I used this ask as a bit of a  comparing and contrasting piece.

Kristin is a Two with a Three wing though I will co-sign that, I never brought it up before but that’s a big part of her vibe to me.

okay, folks! we're home, let's talk about sbk!fool. specifically, the fact that something weird is going on with him. fair warning: this is gonna get long. also there's spoilers.

Fool is kind of a... side character in SBK. he's not directly opposed to OSSHA, but he's not exactly allied with them either. his island partner is Milkman and he's the other Birch Box guy, but he's good friends with Vintage. a lot of what he's done has been attributed to other people.

also, he might just be a huge threat, especially to whatever Olm is doing.

let's back up a little to the part of Avid's ep11 with Fool in it. here's a timestamp.

there's silly music. Kittrix is doing her "i am but a fence" bit. we hard cut to Avid saying "we're gonna need to have the law removed from this situation" and there is no background music. we go further into the scene, Vintage turns to Kittrix as Fool & the Jungle folks are walking off and says "remember that service i told you to sign up for earlier?", and we start getting an ominous synth drone that remains throughout the entire scene. Fool's whole prank slash hitman service is apparently deadly serious business.

this is... really weird. i was there for the Fool stream where this was recorded, and tonally while Fool was definitely being a little bit of a ham, he's also genuinely just like that and was being pretty lighthearted at the time. this scene? this scene is edited in a way that makes Fool seem really ominous, on-par with Avid in the scene an episode earlier where he kidnaps Ruby, and...

speaking of Ruby. their OSSHA clone does not like Fool. here's another timestamp from Leon's ep5, but what's important to know about this scene is stream context again in the opposite direction.

OSSHA Ruby, aka Cloneby and hereby called Tuby because i think it's funny, spent the entirety of their time online during Fool's stream basically stream-sniping him. Fool is not lying when he says they threatened him (even though i kind of had to point that out because it was a little subtle). not only did they show up in-person at Birch to act ominous, they also /msg'd Fool some threatening stuff and kept streamsniping him whenever he tried to go over to Cherry Kingdom and warn Vintage about how weird Ruby was being. this is what led to Tuby showing up at End Kingdom after Fool talked to Leon; Ruby-as-in-the-actual-player was straight up watching stream to know when he left and where he was going.

Tuby has beef with Fool... which is pretty weird considering OSSHA kind of struck a bargain with Birch early on where they could put up "under construction" signs and OSSHA would leave them alone.

okay. so Tuby doesn't like Fool and Avid thinks he's threatening. pretty lowkey so far. for this next part, we've gotta jump around in time, and you've gotta trust me a little -- Fool doesn't upload his VODs anywhere so the only proof i have of these is "i was there at the time."

anyway: this is Fool in the Limbo animatic. notably, this is from the sequence where Olm tells Avid to stop people from falling into the Void.

Fool has different skins for different servers he's on. Skyblock Kingdoms Fool is gold. Fool's PNGtuber is purple, but purple Fool also has a server he's associated with. to be absolutely clear, i am going to make a leap in logic here, bear with me, but this is not SBK Fool. because purple Fool is from Avid Adventures.

deep breath in, deep breath out. here's where stuff gets very "source dude trust me" other than the screencaps i have, so i'm gonna start with the absolute confirmable basics. Olm is the antagonist of Avid Adventures, the command block based adventure map that Avid makes. they are also the antagonist of Avid Adventures, the series about Avid making that map -- they're possessing Avid in that series, in fact, generally being quite ominous about it. i have an entire essay about that but we don't have time for it right now.

Fool, while playing on Avid Adventures, initially only did Dark Path. these VODs are well and truly lost to time, but initially he was doing the Shrouded Isles fully evil, committed to helping Olm largely for funsies. Avid even logged in as Olm to be ominous at him a couple times! in general it seemed like Olm and Fool were kind of wary of each other, but mostly chill -- Fool has a main god he swears allegiance to that isn't Olm, but he's still helping the guy, so there shouldn't really be much of a big issue?

anyway, turns out Olm is really petty. they left him a mean breakup note and everything! (sidenote: Atium's name is entirely my fault. as far as Fool is aware and as far as Fool's lore is concerned, they are a deity of luck, coffee, precious gems, and some other things all totally unrelated to any novels by a certain brando sando.)

anyway then Fool's base gets exploded to bedrock and he respawns in a white void room.

this actually coincided with Avid removing a lot of the shop builds at the original spawn, by the way! lore going forward implies that Olm, either using Avid as a conduit or just in general, straight up thanos style snapped everyone who used to be on Avid Adventures out of existence. one would assume this means this was also Olm trying to delete any trace of Fool.

you may notice that i said that purple Fool is Avid Adventures Fool, not was. this is because Fool does not stay dead -- he respawns! on his boat build next to his exploded base! with every single inventory of every single chest wiped! Olm really did not want him to survive. he and Atium, however, chose life. Atium leaves him a book as well:

Atium's typing style is kind of just straight up delightful, i'm not going to lie. their "blessing" took the form of a Fortune 6 pickaxe titled Atium's Prosperity in rainbow lettering with flavor text reading "A chance at a new life", by the way.

but yeah, uh, Fool and Atium (who is also Fool, it's complicated) just kind of looked Olm in the eye and went "nuh uh," which is insane because this is Olm we're talking about, the dark god most commonly known for destroying an entire civilization in a single night and also constantly telling lies to Nightmares/SBK Avid for funsies. Olm legitimately has straight up destroyed and killed and maybe even eaten other gods before. we have confirmation from Avid that they consumed an entire pocket dimension somehow and that's what led to the creation of Limbo.

and again, purple Fool just kind of said "nuh uh" to all that with the help of his deity, who is also him.

considering it's like 95% certain Olm is in charge of OSSHA at this point, and it's heavily implied that the clones are part of their orders for Avid, there's... a pretty good chance Olm knows Fool isn't exactly someone to take lightly, and that could explain why Tuby is so hostile towards him and Avid is so nervous around him.

then again, maybe it's just because Fool is fun to mess with and good at playing the prankster hitman. who knows?

i’m sorry but my mind has been rotted with steamer! rin, hiori, and nagi ideas recently

like imagine them collaborating and steaming shit like dbd with each other all the time

i can imagine hiori having the prettiest most aesthetically pleasing layout out of the three but when he gets mad and opens his mouth, oh baby does he get vileeeee. it’s hilarious to watch him switch from sweetly talking to his chat then cursing out some teammate he randomly matched all within a span of one minute.

i feel like rin would have the most generic layout from a free template he got off of google images. he’s pretty much what you would expect from an emotionally repressed 16 year old male streamer: the most vile yet weirdly childish insults you’ll ever hear in a span of five minutes while borderline violating tos and his fans constantly defending him because “he’s just a minor who doesn’t know better🥺” (oh he knows honey he knows…)

nagi wouldn’t even gaf. if we’re lucky he would maybe just maybe have his webcam in the left hand corner with absolutely nothing else (moistcritical ass layout) even then his face would just be his classic neutral :x all the damn time no matter what happens

on their own, i feel like hiori and nagi would just stick to typical fps games (with hiori leaning towards the gorier ones ofc. i mean he gotta release his parental frustrations somehow). meanwhile rin would honestly stream any type of horror from triple a games to a free indie rpgmaker game he found on some random kinda sketchy looking website. he would gain such a loyal niche audience from that

hiori would hire a really good editor to edit and upload his streams to his youtube channel. he would most likely gain a whole separate youtube audience from that. prob has some youtube exclusive stuff as well.

nagi would just upload the whole damn archived stream to youtube, that is if he actually remembered to save the vods and not permanently lose the stream. he doesn’t even care that the uploading takes forever he still can’t be bothered with cutting down the video. (thank god twitch has a feature for viewers to cut out their clips from a stream cause lord knows nagi wouldn’t have done it)

rin would actually edit the clips all by hand, mainly bc he could only trust himself to edit them the way he wants. he can only spend a little time editing tho since he has a pretty busy schedule irl

i can imagine hiori being the most popular one out of the three with how much effort he would put into stuff like self promotion, connecting with his audience, plus him just having an overall nice and likable personality, etc. (also the sight of him and his cute face raging would be pretty fucking funny for his audience to watch)

rin would be the second most popular since he does put plenty of work into making his content at least decent since this is something he does in his free time. plus his channel name would be on twitter trending every now and then because of some iffy ass take he said on stream

nagi would be the least watched out of all of them since despite being pretty damn good at games, he would be pretty boring to watch tbh. he wouldn’t put much time into the self promoting part of it either. that is until he meets reo. when reo finds out about his little streamer side gig, he would totally have him put more effort into it, even if it’s small things like actually announcing stream times since that’s all nagi is willing to do. he kinda becomes nagis de facto manager. before then he just piggybacked on rin’s and hioris clout whenever the trio collabs together

top 5 memories!!

these are mostly abt my friends from my fc bc they make playing this game so much more fun and awesome (long post warning)

#1 so there's this guy in western coerthas whom you can challenge to a fight named alaimbert of the spiked butt. funny guy with a lot of butt jokes. one day i was leveling samurai and thought eh why not fight mr spiky butt? then i ate shit and died. and like. the moment i died i got a dm from a stranger. this player named "yuyu nekomata" was... asking me to join her fc?

fellas i have no idea how fc recruitments work. i don't know how this girl found me. so i thought. that this person. saw me get buttspiked to death. for no fucking reason, just being a shit gamer. and thought "yeah i want THAT guy to be in my fc, i gotta ask him to join right now"

i fucking lost it dude i laughed so hard i was fully crying. and then i said yes, ofc. best decision i ever made fr. also since i mentioned going to level my gatherers yuyu gave me like 10 sideritis cookies and i still have 6 in my inventory www

#2 i started playing in na actually, in coeurl, crystal bc dreamer was there and i wanted to meet him ingame haha. but the ping was horrendous and i could never avoid aoes. i started to suspect if orange aoes weren't actually unavoidable. i could only get through the hall of the novice "avoid aoes" training by using sprint (it has a 60 second cooldown!) and praying. and i thought man, i want to try raiding in the future, there's no way i can raid if i have to sprint out of every aoe. so i packed my bags and moved out to jp. basically just picked a dc and world at random? the english speaking jp server is elemental (literally every other indonesian ffxiv player is in elemental fml) but i went to mana instead. it's good out here though since mana has an active raiding scene and the queues are super fast :]

anyway the actual memory was when i remade my character and restarted arr and i went out into the world and aggro'd a monster AND I COULD STEP OUT OF THEIR AOE WOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOO avoiding damage has never felt so fucking good

#3 at a time when i couldn't play ffxiv, around after i finished base hvw but not the patches, i watched jocat's ffxiv stream vods on youtube. i kept watching until the last available video, when he'd finished the rak'tika section then detoured to do all the role quests. that was around endwalker's release so the guy was too busy streaming to upload the old vods. since twitch vods were only available for 2 weeks i skipped ahead and watched edw instead of waiting for more shb. i followed his streams to the very end, then went ahead and purchased ffxiv to finish shadowbringers on my own

i hadn't planned to play endwalker, for reasons. i finished 5.0, then i did the only thing left i wanted to do: the twinning. i wanted to jam out to a long fall, haha. and i did! it was a very fun run. i hadn't done alexander and omega yet so alex to me is a twinning boss first and foremost. the unlock quest's cutscene where we hear the message from the doomed timeline was so touching that i teared up. i felt satisfied. i was done with ffxiv! yay!

the story of why i decided to continue playing... is for someday in the future :)

#4 and so i did continue to play, and even finish endwalker. really though, the twinning wasn't the only thing i wanted to do. i wanted to try raiding, remember? and so i got to level 90, my first time at level cap, excitedly went to labyrinthos to try the pandaemonium raids, and

my item level is too low. noooooo!

i had no idea how to get gear. what the hell is a tomestone? why do i need so many of them?? i asked around to the raiders in our fc for tips. they told me some stuff about how to farm tomestones but i thought mannn that's gonna take so long though. so i went to the marketboard and bought the then-bis rinascita gear.

one of the guys i asked, koi, saw me at the sharlayan marketboard and went OH NO. i'd just bought the sabatons when he stopped me. koi told me, "this was supposed to be a surprise, but i'll say it so you don't waste your gil. actually yuyu has bought all the gear for you! please come to the fc house to receive it."

i was.. floored. i'd joined the fc while in the middle of playing shadowbringers, so it wasn't too long ago. i hadn't talked with anyone much, only saying hi when i see them pop in or out of the game. since i was too busy doing endwalker msq i couldn't play with the other members either (though we did go into the aitiascope and the mothercrystal together, it was such a blast). but they still gave me a ton of gear and raid food and gil for materia. man even now thinking about it i get choked up. these people are the nicest and i love them so much.

the time when i would have to stop playing ffxiv again was approaching, but i swore i would first clear at least the first savage trial of abyssos when it came out, to show my friends how much i appreciated their help. i'm still holding onto this promise now.

#5 savage is hard. oh my god is it hard. i have to admit to giving up because my internet connection is very unstable, i get a lot of lags and disconnects, and devour is an extremely unforgiving mechanic with lag. i only went back to high-end content with golbez. his trial is extremely attractive for me to prog because the mechanics are mostly forgiving and easy to learn. the only one that has me by the throat is void comet rain (void stardust? idk i learned this from jp resources so) since that one is unforgiving with lag lol. and it took me a good while to prog this trial. i gave up again when 6.5 released with a new extreme, zeromus, and went for that one instead. actually getting to see enrage for the first time ever was very motivating, but i just... i like golbez a lot. i want to clear the voidcast dais extreme first, as it was the new goal i'd set after p5s broke me. so i tried again! and

i did it baybeeee hahahaha! we were a "learn from the beginning" party that was supposed to go on for only 1 meal. but at the 30 minute mark we got to like 7% and i was the only one left alive and i was like no, no we can't stop here LET ME SOLO HIM! LET ME SOLO GOLBEZ I'M A WARRIOR I CAN DO THIS IN NORMAL MODE SURELY EXTREME IS NO DIFF(explodes to void meteor)

we put it to a vote if we want to continue progging, and everyone unanimously agreed. so one final pull! in which i fucking died to void comet rain like a chump! but we ended up clearing well before enrage!! yaaaayyy!!! i got my first ever endwalker extreme clear, and also somehow the weapon coffer despite being the only one (probably) who messed up. sorry everyone ;p all the luck goes to the most undeserving in the party! now i just need to farm the mount and the golbez minion from the lunar subterrane and i will have my full golbez regalia. this is my current goal www

anyway since we're already here have a bonus sweet memory, last christmas one of the fc members, kou, gave us all drawings of our wols! look at the gang all here /;w;)/

second is yuyu, our most wonderful guild leader! she's sweet and kind and loves to shower the rest of us with gil from her billionaire coffers. she's the best. beside her is hoshi, who is a pretty cool person but she's been taking breaks a lot. she's our healer for treasure map runs and it's always hilarious w her there

the bunnyboy is skyler, our most chill and cool guy B) he's a vtuber on tiktok i think? he maintains our main discord server and is usually the one organizing fc events with yuyu. also the sage main who always takes the job to heal the rest of us tank-dps mains www

lastly beside tart that's kou! i hadn't met her a lot at the start and that was because she has a very serious raiding static. she did the omega protocol ultimate, THE hardest fight in ffxiv, on patch. it was nuts. she was in that dimensional rift 24/7 lmao. she's also an artist and always has the best glams and has gotten into gposing too, a real ffxiv renaissance man. kou does old extreme/savage content for fun and often gifts the rest of us special crafted weapons that glow. like the tsukuyomi sword, my beloved

From Friendzoned to New Friend Zone

Vee asks Masha to go to Grom with her and gets friendzoned. She doesn't want to go, but when Luz begs her to go, she makes a new friend there. Two basilisks are hiding in Hexside and one doesn't want to hide anymore. With Vee's help, Otto will join the students at Hexside and do what he wants to do most: play music.

Ethan stood up and wiped off his pants.

“Sorry, gotta go to work; see y’all later at Cal’s?”

Vee shook her head, but Masha nodded.

“I’ve got practice today and can’t make it,” Vee said. Softball had taken over her afternoons and in spring she was going to try out for the boys’ baseball team and would likely make it.

“I’ll be there; I don’t have to work today.” Masha waved as Ethan walked away.

“Got time for one more VOD?” Masha asked.

Vee looked at her phone.

“Yeah, I think so.”

Masha started the VOD and laughed as the guys on the stream started pranking each other. Vee watched their lips twitch as they laughed and her eyes went to the gap in between Masha’s front teeth. Masha noticed that Vee wasn’t watching the video and paused it.

“Gonna just watch me?” they asked, laughing.

Vee blushed crimson and lowered her head.

“I—I’m sorry!” she blurted.

Masha put their hand on Vee’s face.

“What’s up?” they asked. Vee put her hand over Masha’s and held their hand to her face.

“I—I—” Vee stuttered again.

“Oh, honey,” Masha said. Vee thought they knew what she wanted to say.

“I wanted to ask you to Grom in the Boiling Isles.” Vee’s words all ran together and her face flamed even more.

“As my date,” Vee clarified, seeing the look on Masha’s face.

Masha squeezed Vee’s cheek gently.

“Oh, Vee; I’m sorry. I’ll go with you as your friend, but I can’t go as your date.” They sighed.

Vee lowered her head and tears began leaking out from under Masha’s hand.

“I thought that was what you’d say,” Vee gulped around tears.

“I should have known you didn’t feel the same way.” Now Vee was sobbing.

Masha scooted forward on the grass and hugged Vee tightly. Vee put her head in Masha’s shoulder while Masha stroked her back.

“You’re my friend. You’ll always be my friend, but I don’t feel that way about you.”

Masha sighed.

“Look, I haven’t told anyone this yet, but I don’t know if I feel that way about anyone . I’m Aro.”

Vee looked up from Masha’s shoulder and met their eyes.

“I’m sorry; I didn’t know.” Vee’s tears slowed. She pulled away from Masha who let her go reluctantly.

“Like I said, I haven’t told anyone. You couldn’t have known. I know it has to hurt, but I meant what I said; I’ll always be your friend.”

“Friendzoned,” Vee said with a bit of bitterness.

“Is that so bad?” Masha asked.

“No,” Vee lied, “it’s not so bad.”

She looked at her phone again.

“I’ve got to go to practice.”

She stood to go. Masha stood with her and hugged her. When Vee pulled away, their hands lingered on each other for one second, then two, then Vee walked away, her shoulders slumped.

A few weeks later, Luz pounded on Vee’s door.

“C’mon we’re going to be late!” Luz yelled through the door.

Vee put her head down in her damp pillow and yelled back.

“I’m not going!”

The door opened and then closed. Vee heard Luz’s footsteps come closer and then felt her weight on the bed as she sat. She put her hand on the back of Vee’s neck and rubbed it gently.

“You should come, it’ll be fun and you haven’t done anything fun for weeks.” Luz’s voice was gentle.

“I don’t want to go,” Vee whined.

“I won’t make you, but how long has it been since you’ve seen Gus and Hunter? They’ll be there, too.”

“Yeah, you’ll be there with Amity and Hunter with Willow and I’ll be there with no one.” Vee’s voice was thick.

“So will Gus, and Skara, and…and…Boscha,” Luz finished lamely.

Now Vee laughed.

“Who’d date Boscha?” she said.

“My point stands though; not everyone there will have a date. It’ll be fun, especially since Grometheus hasn’t matured yet, so the Grom King and Queen will just be symbolic this year and no one will have to face their fears.”

“Do you think Gus would dance with me?” Vee asked. She always got along best with Gus out of anyone in the Hexsquad.

“If you ask him he’ll dance with you. Amity and I will dance with you, too.”

“Promise?” Vee asked, looking up.

“Promise,” Luz said, holding out her hand. She stood up and Vee took her hand and stood up, too.

Luz grabbed some tissues from the bedside table and handed them to Vee. Vee wiped her face and then shifted to human.

“Going as a human?” Luz asked.

Vee shook her head.

“When we get to the Boiling Isles I’ll change.”

Luz laughed.

“It’s no fair that you can just poof and have a fancy dress when I have to spend so much time dressing and getting ready.”

She punched Vee’s arm, who laughed a genuine laugh for the first time in weeks.

“Basilisk’s prerogative,” she laughed again.

They said their goodbyes to Camila who insisted on pictures. They went through the portal in the abandoned house and then to the Owl House where Luz got ready. Amity showed up a few minutes after Luz had gotten dressed with pink flowers picked from the previous year’s Grom tree: their Grom tree. Right before they left, Vee shifted into her basilisk form and a traditional yellow dress. It flowed nicely and was well-tailored, but it was part of her. Luz held out a velvet box to Vee.

“Mom wanted you to wear this. She wore it to her first dance with my dad in college.”

Vee opened it. It was a pearl necklace that felt like real pearls. On Camila it was a necklace, but on Vee’s thicker basilisk neck it was a choker. She adjusted her size until it fit perfectly. Luz clasped it shut under her hair and smiled at Vee.

“It looks better on you than it would on me,” Luz said and Vee blushed.

Vee handed the box back to Luz, who tucked it into a pocket in her slacks.

“Is that a box in your pocket or are you just happy to see me, Noceda?” Amity joked.

“Both,” Luz said and they all laughed as they walked to Hexside making small talk. Amity was really curious about softball and baseball and tried to understand why making the boys’ team for baseball was a big deal.

The teacher at the door stared at Vee and wouldn’t let her in at first because she wasn’t a student. Luz went in and came out with Gus.

“She’s my date,” Gus said, taking Vee’s arm.

The teacher still hesitated.

“I’m not sure if I can let a basilisk in,” they said finally.

Luz went in and found Principal Bump, who had a word with the teacher off to the side. The teacher came back to the door and waved them all in with a pinched, sour look on their face.

“Thanks, Princey B!” Luz shouted back.

He frowned, then smiled and waved at them.

When Amity and Luz came in, the buzz in the room got louder as people noticed them; they were the saviors of the Boiling Isles after all, but then Vee came in with Gus and the room went silent. The buzz started again, with students talking with their hands over their mouths. A student playing a guitar-like instrument on stage paused and stared openly at Vee and only started again when his neighbor nudged him.

Vee felt the eyes on her and noticed that most of the students gave her a wide berth. So did Gus.

“Forget them. Dance with me!” He yanked her onto the dance floor as a fast song started. He deliberately flailed around, dancing more poorly than Vee knew he could. She smiled and flailed with him. He laughed then as the music slowed, he pulled her into an embrace and danced slow with her. Vee knew it wasn’t meant as a romantic gesture as neither of them felt that way about the other, but she liked the dance anyway. When it was over, Gus kissed her on the cheek and they went to the side to get some punch and a cookie.

Skara gave Vee a hug and it was like a dam burst and most of the students didn’t avoid her anymore. Skara had visited with Viney a few times to look at Gravesfield and go to Camila’s clinic to see the animals and how they were healed here. She denied they were dating, but they were always together now, so Vee wasn’t sure. On cue, Viney came up and took Skara’s hand and dragged her to the dance floor.

Vee felt a tap on her shoulder. It was the guitar player from the stage. His long lank hair made her think of Ethan back in the Human Realm and she smiled at him.

“Dance?” he asked in a surprisingly rich, mellow voice.

“Sure,” Vee said and took his hand. He walked with a smooth gait and his hand in hers was warm and dry. When they danced, it was like they had known each other all their lives and they synced perfectly. Other couples gave them room on the dance floor and when the song was done, some of them applauded. Another fast song started and they danced again, mirroring each other, taking turns leading. He dipped Vee in a deep dip and she snapped back up. This time the students applauded longer. A slow song started and he led her off the dance floor. She was grateful to not slow dance with a stranger.

“I’m Otto,” he said and held out his hand.

Vee shook it and said, “Vee.”

He nodded.

“I couldn’t believe it when I saw a basilisk here, not in disguise.” He took her hand again and suddenly she felt claws in her hand. Her eyes widened as she understood: he was a basilisk also.

“Want to go outside for some fresh air?” he asked and she nodded.

She caught Luz’s eyes and flicked her head outside. Luz smiled and nodded; she’d watch out for Vee.

Otto and Vee went out the door and around the side of the building hand-in-hand. He kept his claws out and Vee ran her claws over his.

“How?” she asked and he shook his head, indicating the couple making out a few feet away. They walked on twenty or thirty feet more before he let go of her hand.

“I escaped after you did. You’re Number Five, right?” he asked. He shifted his hand back to witch shape.

“I go by Vee now, but yes.” Vee’s eyes widened again.

“Otto! Number Eight!”

“Shh, shh, not so loud,” he whispered.

“You don’t have to hide anymore, do you?” Vee asked.

“You saw how it was when you came in. Everyone was suspicious. They know basilisks are extinct and dangerous and one came here last year and hurt a bunch of people. They’d never trust me.” He sighed.

“I think Principal Bump would,” Vee whispered back.

“He might, or he might not, but the students wouldn’t.”

“Some of them would. You’re a bard, let Skara know; she’s okay.” Vee smiled.

“I know she was Boscha’s friend and she’s kinda cold sometimes.” His eyes were guarded.

“Nah, she’s changed. She’s still popular, though and a lot of the others would follow her lead. Also, Luz, Amity, Gus, Willow and Hunter will be there and they’ll support you.”

“I don’t know them, though and I don’t know if I can trust them.”

“I trust them. Luz is my sister and one thing about Luz is she’ll do what’s right. She’ll be there for you and that means the rest will, too.”

They both turned at a voice from behind them.

“Otto!” it hissed.

It was a girl in a blue princess dress. Vee immediately recognized the yellow trim on it as not real.

“Number Nine?” she asked in a whisper.

The girl rounded on her.

“Yes! Not so fucking loud, all right?” Her face was twisted.

“What did you tell her?”

“I told her that I was here, but that’s it. I didn’t tell her about you, Nona, but now you’re here, that secret’s out.”

Nona closed her eyes and Vee could see her lips moving as she counted to ten.

“I was telling Otto that you guys should come out. Bump and my sister and friends will protect you.”

“We don’t need protection!” Nona snapped.

“Yes, we do,” Otto said.

They argued quietly for a long time, Otto, with Vee’s support, saying they should just be themselves. Nona wanted to stay hidden and protected.

“Vee, you okay?” Luz’s voice called from the corner.

“I’m all right,” Vee said as Luz and Amity walked toward them.

“You’ve been gone a long time and we were worried.”

“You’re Otto and…Nona, right?” Luz asked.

They both nodded.

“I’ve seen you around, but never been introduced. I’m Luz Noceda, the human.” She held out her hand. Nona just looked at it, but Otto shook it. Based on Luz’s eyes, he had changed back to his claws. Amity noticed, too, her eyes tightening, but she didn’t say anything.

“I see,” Luz said as she released the handshake.

“Otto, you fool,” Nona said and walked away.

“So you’re a basilisk,” Luz whispered. Amity gasped a little, but recovered.

“Yeah, and that’s why I’m not out.” He indicated Amity’s reaction.

“I told him that he should be himself, but he’s worried how the other students would react. You saw how the teacher at the door was.” Vee sighed and took Otto’s hand again.

“Are you just here hiding out?” Amity asked.

Otto shook his head.

“I like the Bard Track; I’m good at it. I’m good at music. I want to study here. I hear The Owl Lady's going to start a witch University and Raine Whispers is going to teach there. I want to learn from them. I want to just play music and not have to hide anymore.”

“And Nona?” Luz asked.

“She’s more comfortable hiding.” Otto sighed.

“If you come out will that be outing her?” Luz asked.

Otto shrugged.

“We’re not ‘friends’ in school, so I don’t think so.”

“Then, if you want to be out, be out.”

Vee held out her hand, shifted to human and he took it. She hugged Otto tightly and kissed his cheek.

“I can go in with you as a human or a basilisk: your choice.”

He hugged her even more tightly then shifted in her arms. She shifted back to basilisk and they both laughed. He was bigger than she was. He’d kept his tuxedo on as best he could, but it hung strangely.

“I’ll teach you how to shift in clothes,” Vee laughed. They went back to the door together, Luz and Amity behind them.

When they reached the door, Bump was on duty. His eyes flicked over Vee and Otto and he nodded.

“Good to see you in your normal form, Otto.” He waved them in.

“You knew?” Otto whispered.

Bump nodded and touched the Palisman covering his eye.

“After last year I worked with Frewin on seeing through shape-shifting and illusions. I’ve known since you applied here.”

“Thank you, sir,” Otto whispered. Luz jumped up to Principal Bump and hugged him. He returned it awkwardly.

Vee went in with Otto. Not many noticed until Otto went back onto stage and took his guitar up. Skara made a motion on the stage and the music abruptly stopped. She winked at Otto. He picked up his guitar and played.

It was a song of longing and pain. It permeated the room and its plaintive emotions spilled across the dance floor. Students embraced and tears started to flow as they felt it. Vee saw Nona stalk out, past Bump who said something to her that stopped her in her tracks.

Otto kept playing, his eyes screwed shut. When he was done, there was a deep silence then applause led by Vee and Luz. He opened his eyes as tears streamed from them. He struck up a new, faster, livelier song and a moment later Skara joined in on the harp. Someone produced a small pipe and the song morphed into a jig. The rest of the band joined in and the dance floor erupted.

When Vee got home that night, she showed Camila all the photos on her phone. As she was showing her, her phone pinged with all the incoming pics from Luz’s phone.

“Oh, mija, I’m glad you had a good time,” Camila leaned close and hugged Vee around the shoulder. They scrolled through all the photos together. Camila stopped at the picture of Vee with Otto, both in basilisk shape.

“Another basilisk?” she asked.

Vee nodded and told her all about her new friend.

Now that Wilbur’s returned, it’s about time he got a look around the server to see what he’s missed since he’s been gone. Tommy gives him a tour.

- Sam logs on to call Ponk handsome. Ponk replies that Punz isn’t online.

- Foolish logs on.

- Sam lands in front of Ponk as he’s watering the concrete.

- Sam tells Ponk that he’s been doing squats and starts twerking to demonstrate

- Ponk shoves Sam off the fridge. When Sam survives, Ponk figures his booty helped save him from the fall, as Sam comments that the weight sent him falling too fast for him to MLG

- Ponk compliments Sam, saying his eyes are glowing like the stars in the ocean

- Ponk and Sam watch the sunrise together. 

- They talk about Coraline’s mother. Ponk says that she is attractive...but not as attractive as Foolish. Sam immediately jumps off the fridge and runs away

Sam: you don’t got me atm. So it does matter.

Sam: I guess it wasn’t meant to be.

- Sam logs off

- Ranboo hires a mercenary Enderman to kill KSI

- Tommy meets with Wilbur at L’manhole

- Wilbur tells Tommy that all his memories are coming back. He remembers that Friend isn’t Tommy’s sheep but his own. 

- Wilbur wants Tommy to show him around to see what he’s missed. He takes Friend along despite Tommy worrying that Friend could die (”Who cares about a sheep, man? It’s just a sheep.”)

- Wilbur’s made some plans, debated with himself what to do now, and tells Tommy that he’s sorry. It may be hard to believe, but Wilbur’s turned over a new leaf! He feels great now and wants to apologize to people.

- Wilbur is in his forties now and asks how old Tommy is -- twenties, thirties? 

- First off, Tommy shows Wilbur Schlatt’s grave. Wilbur asks to see his own grave to see what people said about him. Tommy shows him L’manhole. Wilbur didn’t get a grave, only what he left behind.

- Wilbur sees Karl’s house (which he remembers), the Big Innit Hotel (which he doesn’t) and says he does remember a bit about the prison from Ghostbur’s memories of it.

- Skeppy comes walking past and they speak with him. Wilbur apologizes to Skeppy for not appreciating his trolling. Skeppy kills Friend by accident. He skepped all over Friend. 

- Skeppy runs away and asks Bad if tridents are like swords in terms of damage. Bad asks what he killed and learns that it was a blue sheep. Skeppy puts the trident in an Ender Chest. Bad warns Skeppy that he may have inadvertently started the next war, and Skeppy ends stream

- Wilbur comes across the invisible staircase and Tommy shows him the McPuffy’s. He asks about Karl. Last Wilbur remembered, Karl was an enemy of his, but has he changed? Tommy says he hasn’t seen Karl around much.

- They reach the hotel and Jack Manifold is standing at the desk. He and Tommy get into a shouting match but Wilbur is excited to see Jack. Jack welcomes him inside and Wilbur waits in one of the suites as Tommy and Jack argue in another room, listening in.

- Tommy takes him up to the roof. There, Tommy tells him about coming up with the plan there to murder Dream in the prison. 

Wilbur: “I’ve seen it all, you’ve had your little strifes -- this isn’t the first, right, Tommy. Tommy, do you remember when you got sent into exile? Yeah, I remember. I was there, Tommy. I was there. I was there -- I was in the cage of that little ghost’s fucking head. Every single step you and me took -- look at me, Tommy, look me in the eyes -- every single step me and you took, I was there -- I was there! I had no control of what was happening, I’ve no idea what was being said, but Tommy -- I’ll tell you what -- if I was there, and it wasn’t that stupid shell of a ghost instead of me...I would’ve struck down Dream right where he stood. We would’ve disemboweled him. We would’ve disemboweled him together.”

“Tommy, I’m not -- I wasn’t blind, I saw what he was doing to you, Tommy. I saw. I saw what he was doing to Tubbo -- I saw what he was doing to me. But you know what, Tommy? I wasn’t there. I wasn’t there, was I. We had Ghostbur. Ghostbur was there instead, right. And you know what the issue is, you know what the issue is? After seeing Ghostbur interact with Dream, I realized that no, Dream is not the enemy -- Dream is not the enemy!”

“This world was not supposed to be inhabited by a people of this caliber -- Dream is the hero! Dream needs to be let out of here! Dream’s not in prison for being a horrible person, Dream’s in prison because he dared to try and stop you all. He dared to try and stop you all from gaining all this power, because the minute I was gone, there was a vacuum, there was opening, and everyone just seeked to get in there! And Dream was the only one who stood up to them and told them not to, Dream was the only one who held my seat for me. He held my -- he kept it warm! He kept my throne warm, and you guys didn’t like that, so you threw him in prison! And if Dream died instead of me, I would be in there right now.”

“So Tommy, you should thank that I wasn’t alive to attack Dream when we got exiled! You should be glad we had little, passive Ghostbur, because now Dream’s in there, and I’m out here, baby.”

- Wilbur heads back down to speak with Jack Manifold. He tells Jack that he’s sorry that he didn’t grant freedom to Manifoldland, sorry that he led Jack into war, sorry that he denied Jack access to the election, sorry that he left Jack behind. Jack is a little surprised, but he thanks him and Wilbur and Tommy leave the hotel. 

Tommy: “Wil, just look at me for a second. The reason we started L’manburg, and everything here, was because we knew -- together, me and you, the duo -- together we knew that Dream was the villain. He was the one holding this server down. He was the dictator! ‘Cause you’re telling me even then, you think...you think Dream was the hero?”

Wilbur: “Tommy, I’ve made an oath of not lying now that I’m alive again. So I’m gonna come clean to you with the truth. Uh...one thing, I didn’t actually care about L’manburg, I just cared about -- you know, sticking it to the man. Actually, I cared about L’manburg for the sole reason that I could use it to stick it to the man. You ever sticked it to the man, Tommy?”

“L’manburg was a tool. It was a great tool, it worked, you know. It divided so many people, man. Listen, Tommy, and in my oath of not lying I’m gonna tell you know -- Tommy, I’m sorry for a couple things, to each of these people on the server. I’m sorry to a lot of them -- except for Phil, I’ve nothing to apologize to Phil for. Phil’s done nothing wrong. But to the rest of them, I’m sorry for a lot of things -- but Tommy, that doesn’t mean I’m not gonna try again.”

- Tommy is confused. L’manburg was Wilbur’s unfinished symphony, how could he not care about it? Wilbur says maybe it wasn’t the right wording, he did care about L’manburg, but for the “wrong reasons.” 

- Wilbur asks to see the museum (though Tommy was going to take him to the Egg). They make it to the museum and Wilbur is excited to see the hto dog van as Tommy continues to protest.

Tommy: “It was like we were a family! You can’t just say that!”

Wilbur: “We were family, Tommy! ...We were. But you know what? You just -- you just didn’t -- I guess you didn’t have the balls to follow along with me. When I pressed the button, you were always against -- we’re leaving it behind, Tommy. It’s in the past--”

Tommy: “You blew up our fucking home!”

Wilbur: “We’re friends now. We’re friends.”

Tommy: “I don’t want to be your friend! You’re annoying and I hate you and you’re ugly and you have a gray hair and I bet you twirl it round and use the dog filter--”

Wilbur: “You’re following me an awful lot for someone who doesn’t care.”

- Wilbur notices the Ranboo My Beloved poster on the wall. He remembers Ranboo as a good man. Tommy says he is, and that he sees potential in him.

- They call Ranboo so that Wilbur can properly meet him. Wilbur says he’s sorry to him. He wanted to get to know Ranboo better, ‘pick his brain.’ Ranboo never met Wilbur in person.

- What nation is Ranboo a part of, who does he align himself with? Ranboo says all of them -- he chooses people, not nations.

Wilbur: “Okay, so -- let’s go an say, so there must be someone bad on the server right, there’s gotta be a bad guy on the server and who --”

Ranboo: “Yeah. Dream, yeah.”

- Wilbur goes quiet for a moment. He then asks what Ranboo stands for. Ranboo says people.

Wilbur: “What ‘people?’ What people? You can’t just stand for people! People are good and bad!”

- Ranboo lists the people he sides with. There are quite a few.

Wilbur: “Everyone? Everyone but Dream, everyone but the one bad guy everyone’s supposed to hate.”

- Wilbur accuses Ranboo of being a “schmoozer.” Ranboo's philosophy is, if someone hasn’t wronged him or the people he cares about, he has no quarrel with them.

- Wilbur says that’s fine in a perfect world, but there are wars that get fought. Ranboo says the server’s been quiet ever since Dream was put in prison and there have been fewer wars since Wilbur died -- to which Wilbur asks if Ranboo is against him in the same way he’s against Dream.

- Wilbur says goodbye to Ranboo, saying that they might get to know each other better in time. Wilbur leaves with Tommy to continue the tour, telling him that Ranboo’s just a follower. 

- Tommy gets angry and tells Wilbur off for being a nuisance, for making him feel like a ghost when Wilbur should be the ghost. They decide to fight, with weapons but no armor. 

- They fight in the Holy Land and Tommy defeats him. Wilbur says, though, that he’s already won no matter what. No matter what happens next, he won when he pressed the button.

- He asks to see Phil. Phil sent him a whole backlog of letters, including ones about things Tommy can’t know about. 

- They arrive at the Arctic and Wilbur remembers this place, remembers finding Friend here. Wilbur reunites with Phil and Wilbur is thrilled by the cottages.

- Wilbur thanks Phil for killing him and tells him the whole bit of what would’ve happened if he’d been there instead of Ghostbur.

- Tommy tells Wilbur that what led to him getting exiled was griefing George’s house with Ranboo. Ranboo didn’t get exiled because Tommy stood up for him -- to which Wilbur asks if Ranboo didn’t stand up for Tommy, letting Tommy get thrown under the bus.

- Phil asks about the lies in the letters. Wilbur tells him that he’s not lying anymore, and he lied in the letters because it’s like writing back from a summer camp -- he didn’t want to tell Phil that everything was going horribly. 

- Wilbur’s made plans, and when they’re ready, Phil will be the first to know. He also asks Phil if he can stay with him for a bit, as he has no house. He also needs a shower.

- Phil agrees to let Wilbur stay despite Tommy protesting, and Wilbur and Tommy leave.

- Ranboo comes over to ask Phil how it went. Phil was skeptical, but it seems like Wilbur’s changed for the better, and that Wilbur spoke highly of Ranboo. As for Ranboo, he says it seems like Wilbur isn’t as bad as people said he was. 

- Phil talks about killing Wilbur and what Wilbur said about it.

- For Wilbur’s plan, he needs lots of stone. Wilbur leaves Tommy at the Nether Portal to go get stone and speak with Phil.

- Phil gives Tommy several stacks of stone. 

- Wilbur says he’ll be “back in the saddle” soon, that he can rebuild. He still doesn’t know how he was revived, but the first thing he saw when he got back was a chest.

- At the shrine, Wilbur opens the chest and reads the “PROJECT NEVADAS” book Quackity left for him. His old rival, his kinsman. 

Wilbur: “Chat, power isn’t won through diplomacy. Power isn’t won through waiting, patiently, floating courthouses in the sky, blah blah blah...it’s won through blades. Swords. Iron...”

“And I was right all along.”

- Tommy leaves Phil and Ranboo for a bit and they continue to talk about Wilbur, whether he’s changed, whether he’s even telling the truth about the afterlife and if even Dream can change.

- When Ranboo mentions that he may have to keep some secrets, Phil asks about the experiments. Ranboo reiterates that they’re just to build resistance, like when a wound heals over stronger. He assures Phil that he’ll be careful.

- Ranboo then leaves to go stand in a corner somewhere for a bit. He doesn’t sleep much, and if Phil ever sees him walking around staring at random things, it’s nothing to worry about

- Tommy goes mining for stone with Mediashare

- Captain Puffy works on the graveyard. She reads the Wiki page for Sally the Salmon and makes some horrible discoveries. She later finds out the Samsung Refrigerator has its own page as well and spends some time learning about the canon family tree.

- She then makes the gravestones and fills out the history books for each of the dead members, including a spot for Ghostbur behind Wilbur’s headstone with his final words.

“ranboo? oh my god guys i love ranboo. no joke like i stick on his streams to fall asleep, when i’m having a bad day, anything. like the other day i finally had some free time and i just binged his VODS. so amazing go follow him and sub you guys.”

there’d been many twitter interactions since then, the tweet threads leaving both of you giddy. but the other day, that’d been special. he was streaming, just doing some mining and polls when your dono popped up.

“thank you...NO WAY. oh my god hi thank you for the $200 wow hello hi,” ranboo stumbled over his words as he recognized your tag.

but all those moments led up to today. you were joining the smp, and ranboo has claimed the opportunity to give you the tour.

“hello?” your voice came through his headphones in discord and a smile broke out across his face.

“hi!” he said cheerfully, trying not to stutter. your face grew hot. oh my god you were talking to one of your favorite streamers.

“i should probably start this off by saying this is very nerve wracking because i watch you so much,” you mumbled. his chat erupted in “AWW’s”

ranboo beamed at the camera, though thankfully the mask covered it.

“i’m a very big fan of yours,” he said, and now it was your chats turn to panic.

after about an hour of uncomfortable yet happy streaming, you both ended and just sat in the discord for a minute.

“it was really really cool to talk with you,” ranboo started.

“yeah i agree. listen, i gotta go, but i’ll message you when i’m done eating dinner okay?” you said with a smile. ranboo grinned.

And then Dream started talking to him and threatening him and it was chilling, dude, I sadly wasn't in the fandom during exile and haven't had the time to sit and watch it, but if this is how he was then no fucking wonder Tommy hates him. I was terrified just watching it.

And oh, when Tommy ran to Phil and they talked I was so relieved, but I was also like apprehensive, considering y'know Phil helped break Dream out, but then Phil started reassuring Tommy and even if he's not canonically Tommy's dad I still gotta say awwwww dadza

I struggle with enthusiasm levels.  I’m enthusiastic about a lot of things.  I really love exclamation points!  But this makes me come off really strongly, I feel like.  I often want to express how much I appreciate a person or thing but the act of doing so to my full capability often feels awkward to me.  Why is that?  ...  Well, I think I might be afraid of people thinking I’m weird, I think.  Or that I’m trying to say something that I’m not.  Or that I’m being artificial.  So a lot of times, I think, I try to tone myself down?  I don’t know if that’s a common thing.

Speaking of enthusiasm, OHOHO MY FRIENDS

I have just watched Techno’s L’Manberg Destruction Stream and WOW what a beautiful battle.  Techno fighting off 20 dudes for 20 minutes?  Epic.  Techno giving his only Totem of Undying to Phil?  Epiccccc.  Dream dropping TNT from the sky while Withers run wild?  EPIC.

Alright so I saw that Ghostbur joined, and obviously he’s got the storyline I’m most interested in, but Techno never joined the vc with Wilbur so I’ve gotta watch Tommy’s vod.  Gotta say, I do love me some Villainous Dream.  I think it’s interesting how he and Tommy butt heads and also how nonchalant Dream is about being the villain.  Also I definitely think Tommy is really just, like, not understanding that Techno was being completely upfront with him and that he was kidding himself into believing that Techno actually cared about his interests.  That was what opened the door for Techno and Dream, two of the most dangerous characters on the server, to team up.  Anyway I just don’t understand why the discs are so important in the first place.

ANYWAY I’m watching Tommy’s vod and Ghostbur has just asked Tommy to be brought back OH AND WAIT apparently Ghostbur thinks only Dream can bring him back to life.  I suppose this means that if Dream is taken down by Tommy/Tubbo/Quackity (I wouldn’t be surprised if Dream calls in his favor with Techno for help), they could force Dream to bring Wilbur back.  I don’t know exactly how Ghostbur could be brought back or what that would mean for Wilbur’s character, but it should be ~fun~.

I’m also going to watch Wilbur’s POV rn because ~apparently~ this is the first time Ghostbur has ever gone live!!  Before, all of his stuff has been seen through the streams of others.  AWE I love Ghostbur and I’m so excited for what’s gonna happen.  oh snap ghostbur real angry at Philza over Friend.  not me... not me actually feeling bad for ghostbur.  (also I love how they all break character when Tommy gets randomly struck by lightning just after Wilbur asks to be revived lolllll)  OH,, NOT FUNDY BEING PRO L’MANBURG’S DESTRUCTION WHAT?  Anyway, I am happy to learn at least that Philza is canonically Wil’s dad and that, at least, most of what I’ve been pinning isn’t completely blasphemous (at least, not on that front).  Wilbur asking people to kill him has the same energy as that muffin in the asdfmovie that wants to be eaten.  I wonder if Glatt (ghostshlatt’s preferred name) will ask to be brought back too?  Wait okay so maybe it’s Phil that needs to bring Ghostbur back because Phil was the one who killed him?  (I don’t think livetweeting my thoughts about this is the most practical lol)  AHHH IT’S HAPPENING TODAY??  THE TENTH OF JANUARY???  omg philza’s doing it now ahaha.  guess I’ll be watching the vod sometime soon :D

Ah, what an awesome event!  I’m excited to see where the next arc takes us!  Wow I’ve spent, like, four hours cobbling all of this together.  Was it worth it though?  Yes!  

Alright, I’ve got some reading to get done before class tomorrow morning, and I think I might head to Goodwill tomorrow too maybe (or maybe later in the week)?  The parking lot was awfully crowded yesterday, so maybe weekdays will be better.  I’m essentially in search of more wool skirts, some nice pleated trousers, white cotton/linen button-ups, and button-up sweaters.

Oh and also, I watched a video about We Can Be Heroes, the sort-of Sharkboy and Lavagirl sequel, and like,,,, I wasn’t planning to ever talk about this movie again, but the video kinda did put me in my place.  Like, I’m not it’s target audience.  I was absolutely the target audience of Sharkboy and Lavagirl, one of my absolute favorite movies as a kid.  Basically what that meant was that I didn’t question the bad CGI or weird plot.  That movie honestly just felt like a dream, I suppose, which makes sense when you consider what the main theme of the film was.  But yeah, I could watch the Spy Kids and Sharkboy and Lavagirl movies back to back to back to back as a kid because they were made for people my age.  Honestly, I’d totally be interested to see what twenty-year-olds of the time thought of SB&LG, and other DCOMs, while we’re at it.

Wait hold on okay.  Last thing about the DSMP (today) I swear.  So!  I was only introduced to Ranboo a few of Techno’s streams ago and he seemed pretty chill but I didn’t know very much about his character.  Today when I finally went back onto Pinterest, I found out that apparently Ranboo’s character is actually pretty interesting (and dark lol) so I’m watching his stream from four days ago (the destruction of L’Manburg (yes, this makes it the fourth stream today I’ve watched of this single event, but I’m watching different storylines unfold and skipping the parts that are common to multiple streams (that’s lowkey not actually a good thing because, like, it’s just making me more invested in more creators which will take up more of my time))).  Alright so he’s monologuing within this obsidian box.  I honestly don’t know how many people could make monologuing interesting but he’s lowkey doing it well?  Or, at least, it’s entertaining to me and my fish-brain lol.  There’s apparently an “It” that’s important to Ranboo’s character, but I don’t know what “It” is.  He’s also got a thing with ~remembering~ but I don’t have enough background to know what all that’s about?  I suppose I might have to consult the Wiki or I could take the organic route and watch a few of the streams that follow?  If I have the time, if I have the time.  Ranboo canonically mentally ill pog?  His streams are cute though, so I could dig it.

Alright so I went and read the Wiki page on Ranboo and WOW that’s a dark character who I would love to follow.  I’ve got a thing for sad, unfocused characters, I suppose.  (The “It” is his Memory Book, likely taken and used by Dream.)

So!  Streams to watch/skim-- Philza’s Jan 10th stream, some of Ranboo’s streams (apparently he had a run in with Manipulative!Dream, and y’all know I (with shame, yes) get a kick out of that, so I’ll be fishing around for that).  

Today I’m thankful that I had a chill day (I should’ve been doing homework/readings, but alas).  I’m really happy with this DSMP arc (I think this is the end of an arc that started with the previous Destruction of Manburg (but they won’t be rebuilding from this one; the server is in absolute shambles)), as I’m sure you all can tell.

Side note: I’m pretty sure that if I read fanfic (and ohhh boy I can feel myself coming close some days), I think my comfort torture trope would be mind control/manipulation while my comfort romance trope would have something to do with power dynamics still, like jock/nerd (as I mentioned a week or so ago).  And like,,, I don’t know why??  I’m pretty much out of my physical whump phase, I think, but I think I do dig psychological stuff.  It’s weird, isn’t it?  Especially since I went through a similar thing?  Like it’s weird that I enjoy stuff like that still.  It can’t be normal, can it?  People shouldn’t be attracted to things that have caused them pain in the past, right??  So why am I?

i joined stream super late, so i just saw a tailend of wilburs convo with philza but from that point — they were just over and over making a point of, in wilburs quest to atone for what hes done, tommy is a Very Important Person He Should Apologize to. interestingly enough, the narrative, at least for now, doesnt condemn him for not doing so. it makes it VERY clear he should, but tommy doesnt seem to notice that, doesnt seem *hurt* by wilbur seemingly not thinkin about him in this.

at any other time, id say that it was downright comedic, the way it kept basically cutting back to tommy, but there was no background music, just silence. it was *somber*

i gotta watch the vod and also calm down a bit to write a proper analysis, but my first impression is, this is a set up for the moment when wilbur is *ready* to apologise to tommy, not a condemnation of him not doing so already

Day 1

I feel like my life’s just kinda become one long stretch of not knowing what I’m doing, what I like, or sometimes who I even am. Well, minorly on that last one, not huge angst or identity crisis or anything. But like, I feel I don’t quite know myself right now, so I wanna fix that by starting a journal of sorts.

Let’s see how long this lasts.

Let’s see, the day started with watching the VOD of last night’s Worlds games (They’re live at 3 AM >_<;) The Chinese team Invictus beat the EU team G2 in the Semifinals, meaning there’s no more guarantee of a western team winning worlds.

After some youtube and tumblr and briefly talking with Kenz, I booted up my latest addiction, Rimworld. I decided my tutorial run was over, made a new game with the difficulty set to normal and permadeth on. My new base isn’t self-sufficient yet, but I poked at that for a few hours and that was pretty fun.

After that, I started my LoL Honor grind. I’ll spare the details of what that is and why I’m doing it, but basically I didn’t play enough games this year to max out Honor before the season’s end, which means I have to play a lot of league games just to get a reward. So I’ve been playing VS AI games. 5 per day. For weeks. It’s actually not very fun but I gotta do it because a Twitch skin is the reward this year. ...that wasn’t sparing details, but whatever. Stream of consciousness here.

And that’s when I realized that actually some of the rewards for the World’s Quests are actually worth doing, and the bot bames I’d been playing hadn’t been counting towards those...I didn’t have much time left on those so asdfjkl; I played way more League than I wanted today.

After that, to take my mind off of that, it was time to hang out with Chris. We tried to get him some Gold through Competative Constructed Events on MTG Arena, and faced nothing but Golgari midrange and Jeskai Control, which are poor and horrible matchups for our deck respectively. We did pretty bad.

After we were done with that, I decided to do more Unity learning, and goofed around with a little “Cube pinball” mockup (nothing intense, just two bumpers and a long thin rectangle boundry so it couldn’t go flying in random directions), and then started researching moving the camera parallel to another plane. But then it was pretty late.

So I started this and that’s the end of the day for me. Time for bed

(And I’mma wake up in 4 hours to watch the important World’s Semi’s match! C9 vs FNatic, what very well could be the “Real” Finals.)

Overall today not much happened. Good old lazy Saturday.

Other random things though. I RWBY Vol 6 came out today, but isn’t out yet for us plebian non RT+ members. Castlevania Season 2 came out last night but I haven’t watched it yet.

My body has become resistant to all forms of it according to my oncologist. 46 chemo treatments, 138 days plugged into a pump. Let nobody ever say I wasn't stubborn. Unfortunately this was followed up a couple of days later with some more bad news. My liver is failing and its effectiveness has lowered past the point where the clinical trials I had been offered would take me on. Yes apparently there are things that are too dangerous for even the terminal. Obviously we're going to keep looking for other trials but I'm currently coming to terms with the fact that I don't have long left and right now at any rate, there is literally nothing I can do about it other than try to manage the pain as best as possible and stay as hydrated as possible to ease the pressure on the liver. There are quite a few pain management options left to try and the ones that I am using can be increased in dosage quite significantly if need be. The majority of the pain is being caused by pressure on the spine from hardened nodules in the liver and lung as well as fluid. We haven't fully explored the options for dealing with all of that, but its high priority so that my quality-of-life can improve.That's what it comes down to now, getting my quality-of-life to as good a standard as possible. Even though you don't really have any treatments to fight with any more, I firmly believe that the will to live is a very strong asset and that is much easier to maintain when you're not in crippling pain all the time.That will most likely be my last health update, unless some miracle happens or we do indeed find a trial that can do something despite the damage to my liver. I'd ask people not to speculate about how long I might have left. I've deliberately left out some details to try and reduce the behavior, though it might very well have the opposite effect. All I do know is that kind of thing is upsetting to some of my viewers that read it and I'd rather not encourage it. I've already exceeded the "usual" lifespan of someone with my condition so whatever numbers people come up with are just that.Its now a case of "what do I do with the time I have left?" Why am I telling you? Because if you're a viewer of my content, its relevant to you.Retirement, sort ofFirstly, I am retiring as a games critic. I can't do the job anymore. I'm under the influence of too much medication to think clearly and my schedule too unreliable to get coverage out in a timely manner. That's something all too easily overlooked by some, I'm a very work-driven person and one of hardest things of the past couple of years has been dealing with not being able to reliable do my work. We will be moving forward with our proposal to shorten the show to 2 hours per episode however. Some might be disappointed by this though we found in a recent poll that quite a few people, more than those who said they'd be disappointed, actually wanted this change. As for weeks in which I simply cannot do the show (which hopefully wont happen but you can never be sure), Genna is going to be trained in production and will take on a host role, with the usual guests. There are only so many hours in a week. I'd rather have 2 hours of good, fresh content than 3 hours of discussion spread too thin, which the shows as of late have often been. As for weeks in which I simply cannot do the show (which hopefully wont happen but you can never be sure), Genna is going to be trained in production and will take on a host role, with the usual guests. Not only would I be ok with Genna taking over my channels and assets once I'm gone, I'd be delighted if she did. I've been encouraging her for years to create more content for Youtube, hopefully as we make a bunch of fun videos together over the next however-long, that confidence will grow. I fully expect The Co-optional Podcast to go on and I love the thought that once I'm gone, the channels will go on in my absence, hosted by the person who knows me best and has been with me for the better part of my adult life.If this is all a bit brutally honest... well, it is me.
