#now I kind of want to write an Evan-centric fic

Since I'm apparently in the mood to share my Marauders Era headcanons lately, let me introduce you to my version Evan Rosier.

He gets his Dark Mark at seventeen, before leaving school, completely by choice. He's a total bigot who 100% believes in the cause and an absolutely brutal fighter.

He's a bit of a Crabbe & Goyle type, more follower than leader, not especially cunning or ambitious. Much more competent than Crabbe and Goyle, though.

He was a childhood playmate of the Black brothers, but his friendship with Sirius fell apart when they started school. He and Regulus remain close friends up until Reg's death.

Around people he sees as his equals, Evan is actually a really nice person. Very charming, thoughtful, and friendly. But towards anyone but those few people, he's capable of incredible cruelty. He's one of the people Sirius was thinking of when he said, "look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals."

He got kicked out of the Slug Club for calling Lily a mudblood right in front of Slughorn.

He starts dating Barty Crouch Jr. in his seventh year, Barty's sixth, and they stay together until his death. It's not sweet or cute. They bring out the worst in each other and enable each other's most unpleasant tendencies.

When Regulus starts to have doubts, but before learning about the Horcrux, Evan is one of the few people he confides in. Evan is having the time of his life as a Death Eater and dismisses Regulus's concerns.

Evan is one of the most ruthless and dangerous Death Eaters in Voldemort's army. He fights mostly via brute force, not strategy, but he's a very powerful wizard and has no hesitations about killing his opponents.

His best Unforgivable is Avada Kedavra. (Regulus's is Imperio. Barty's is Crucio. Isn't it lovely how they each have their own unique skills to bring to the table? XD)

During their school days, he got along better with the Marauders than most of the Slytherins, which is admittedly a low bar. In fact, while he considered Remus a filthy half-blood and Sirius a great disappointment, he was almost friendly with Peter Pettigrew. Do you see where this is going?

He decided early on that he would rather die than go to Azkaban. When he finds himself fighting Moody and realizes there's no way he's going to win, he refuses to surrender and fights to the death

March of Madness – Fandom Creative Event!!

Welcome to the first event (possibly of its kind) of March of Madness – A reverse-exchange challenge of sorts where you create writing or art for a randomly selected idea! Why an idea of mine, you may ask? Well, I come up with too many all of the time and I figured it would be a fun challenge to see what other people do with them haha, plus it's a fun way to put more of that sweet delicious Soul Eater content out into the world.

Do note, as I am the funny Soul Evans multiverse man, that these ideas will be largely Soul-centric. There may be other characters present of course (and you can opt-out of Soul x Maka related ideas in the sign-up form), but Soul will almost always be an integral part of these ideas. Who knows, maybe you can get some practice in with his character if you haven't been as familiar.

Now, the rules are this:

After the sign-up period has ended, you will receive a randomly selected idea (with your given preferences kept in mind) to secretly work on for all of March, with posting starting in April. You still have time to work on it for the rest of April, but if you aren't finished by the start of May then you will become an after-party entry (which will still be able to be shared, just make sure to contact me haha). ---

Writers will have a word count minimum of 1,500 words to complete their fics (as that is about my one-shot average). Artists will need to complete a coherent-looking piece of art that clearly conveys the idea, however if you don't want to work alone, you may choose to collaborate with a writer and create art for the same idea that they're working on (either may opt-in for collabing in the sign-up form). ---

While creative interpretations and liberties are freely allowed to express your vision of the idea, you will need to at least stick to the bare bones of the given premise in spirit of the event. If you find you need a new idea if yours isn't working for you (or you'd like to write more than one as a small collection), you are allowed to reroll for a new idea, however please make sure to communicate this change with your partner if you have one (as well as communicating with me if you feel you need to drop out of the event or such). ---

As these ideas aren't really made with suggestive content in mind, I would prefer that event creations don't contain any explicit content. Please remember to tag/mark your posts if they happen to contain blood/gore, body horror, death, etc.

Sign-ups last from February 18th to 29th!

Once posting starts I will reblog all event creations with the "Soul Eater March Madness 2024" tag, and add any fics posted to AO3 in a March of Madness collection that were okay with being added.

This event is mostly just for fun, so don't sweat it if you find yourself too busy or lacking energy for a good chunk of it. Either way I'm looking forward to seeing how the event will go!

I DO YES - i don't really know anything in the realm of fanart but if anyone does feel free to hop on!

first of all, some good places to look are in the ao3 collections for regulus black fest (it's a different collection every year). you can find a lot of info on the tumblr blog which i am not going to tag because i feel like their notifications are probably hellish but it's https://regulusblackfest.tumblr.com/ - the url is just regulusblackfest

these are some of my ABSOLUTE FAVES for regulus-centric fics! here goes:

leave no stone unturned (a series of standalones) by thedivinecomedian has a lot of great stuff - i haven't read the whole series, but i love blackpool, styx, and sabotage! please do mind the content warnings on all of those. (as the title of the series suggests, they're all standalone fics)

bindings, bindings by quietlemonhush isn't SOLELY regulus-centric - it focuses on regulus, sirius, remus, james, and lily - but regulus is one of the main characters, he has a pov, and i just love the fic in general agslhgjskdf. once again mind the warnings but it's less intense than, like, blackpool

through a glass, blackly by wheresmejumper is one that i just read fairly recently and became an INSTANT fave. it's just so well done GAHHHHHH my jaw was on the fLOOR when i got to the end, highly highly recommend, yet again do mind the warnings

to blow a gasket - one-shot, regulus using notable muggle inventions like duct tape and explosives to steal the horcrux

miscellaneous pairings:

smoke slow: a spy!regulus au - regulus/remus series, regulus is The Spy who ends up with the hogwarts teaching job. he's a runes professor, one of my favorite takes on the 'regulus was dumbledore's spy' premise, and regulus himself is just *chefs kiss* he's punched dumbledore in the face multiple times and i live in the hope of him getting another one in. the dialogue is EXCELLENT

midnight hues - bartylus one-shot, emotional hurt/comfort i guess? it's soft (it's in a series, but the series is more a collection of regulus fics than anything requiring continuity)

kindness blooms - regulus/petunia series, which is a WILD pairing but the author totally sold me on it - 'good petunia dursley' is a prominent tag in the series, it becomes more harry-centric as the series progresses but there's still a lot of regulus!

AND FINALLY........

technically this fic should go in the no romance section but it's just so glorious that i felt the need to give it its own section

regulus black and the way things changed: a not!fic - another take on regulus becoming a hogwarts professor, told in humorous bullet point style, and it's just delightfully unhinged the whole way through. regulus competes with gilderoy lockhart re: who is the most fabulous dresser at hogwarts. snuffles gets HEAVILY involved. it's absolutely wild. also they kill voldemort and whatnot

OMG THAT LAST CHAPTER AAAAA my boys 🥹 if you hadn't said it on here, I would've never known you struggled w/writing Kokichi, it seriously feels so natural and I LOVE when authors include that clowny jester vibe to him!! But now that we're REALLY REALLY into the thicc of the story, I'm realizing how much I miss the camp!! idk about everyone else, but it was always the most interesting setting for me when I was into Percy Jackson! So basically I'm gonna annoy you with my barrage of questions that are 100% unrelated to the most recent chapter 😭

I know it was mentioned that Maki's cabin was undecorated for a long time, but did she ever get to personalizing it? I'd love to know about the cabins and their designs! I'd also love to know what kind of stuff they do at the talent shows? Idk if its the fact that the fic is based off the pjo musical, but I get theatre kid vibes from specifically kaede (even if she can't sing LOL) Speaking of her, since it was mentioned that she could play any instrument, I'm wondering if there were instruments /canon-specifically-talent-related equipment at camp for everyone? Also some of the dialogue had me questioning if they're even allowed to curse at camp or not 😭

i also miss camp </3 i was talking about this with someone else yday (hiiiii evan) but in a universe where pointy objects reaches its end and i STILL want more.....there are little one-off scenes that dont fit into the main narrative of the fic but i'd still theoretically like to write......and the immediate reaction to the campers (+ hajime and nagito) realizing seven of them went missing along with an rv. it would be a lot of dialogue but the phone calls nagito had to make to all the parents of the missing (good and bad) kids. also the godly meetings where shit went bad, and then really bad, and then somehow even worse. pointy objects has always been very v3-centric given our main characters, but some of my favorite chapters so far have been when i've been able to feel out characters from the other games as well.

ok. THAT was a big tangent LMFAO ok re: maki: yes! it took a long time; she had very little interest in doing decoration shopping or really Anything in the first year or so after arriving at camp/her friend's death (she also did not see her situation as static or permanent — no point in something like that, y'know?). for her 14th birthday, kaede took the reins on planning with nagito a cabin design that she thought maki might like; and now presently, her cabin has a "red velvet" theme! DIY headboard for her bed made with literal red velvet that kaede and maki built themselves, plush red sheets, red walls (another eyesore of a cabin...), with a small collection of photos and trinkets and artwork and decorations she's amassed over the years since. she has a picture of her parents sitting in the bottom drawer of her dresser than only kaede knows about.

as for the others — i take a lot of inspiration from their research labs, but i haven't plotted out in my head exactly how they all look, y'know? miu's is definitely very lab-like, angie's paints her walls white at the beginning of every summer and over the summer months fills them corner to corner with new designs, kiyo's has more bookshelves than wall space, the like.

now: talent shows! it's very informal, with prizes like choosing the next camp-wide game, getting out of dinner duty for a week, etc. classic staples include himiko's magic shows (with tenko as a willing and eager assistant) (who also will at times retrieve less willing participants from the audience) (usually nagito). miu tries her own "magic tricks" that usually involve adding new features to kiibo and making them parade them around onstage; kiibo gets their comeuppance by forcing miu to learn kpop dance choreo and perform with them (as kokichi films, naturally). kaede can play instruments to get around the limitations of her power (also yes — 100% theater kid, alongside kiyo [+ kokichi, who wont admit it]), and there's a whole collection of instruments in the girls' common area that she's mastered/is working on learning (her most recent is a theremin that she and kiyo are both very interested in). it's a lot of repeats, because there are some kids who always prefer to chill in the audience rather than get onstage themselves, but everyone has lots of fun <3 (except nagito [usually made to suffer during them] and hajime [often tasked with tie-breaking the winner, also suffering])

as for ur last question: TRUST they are definitely allowed to swear. hajime would've exploded years ago if that wasn't the case. the barrier they erected following tsumugi's massacre is capable of a lot of things, but nothing can defeat the resigned frustration of wrangling a clusterfuck of the weirdest demigods they've ever dealt with (/fond)

rn i'm in my chrissy cunningham phase (stranger things) but i'm still in my overarching sansa stark phase (asoiaf). i have been known to do a rewatch and dip back into my jemma simmons phase (agents of shield). and i'll always sort of be in my lily evans phase (marauders).

usually!! i really like getting comments and i guess i have assumed that having someone respond incentivizes them so i always want to incentivize comments!! i think it is i polite to say thank you also. and i mean i love to talk about my fic so i'm always like "oh y'all tryna chat????" but usually nobody is trying to chat back ahhahaha. sometimes i hide from comments if i'm feeling guilty about not updating something but i always appreciate comments and they're usually p motivating to me

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

hmmm. most of my fics are like alternate media-based au concepts or lil oneshots or stories that are yet to have endings, so hard to say exactly which is angstiest.

i think my angstiest story is a pre-hydra reveal agents of shield one i did as a secret santa for someone where fitz was dead(?!!?!?) and grant ward showed up to bring jemma simmons back to the team and that was yeaaaaars ago but whenever i think of it i'm always like ok wow i hope that is what that person wanted. what bold choices to make in a gift for a stranger!!

other than thaaat i do think of i carry it in mine as a fairly angsty fic but it's intended to have a not so angsty ending so

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

well please trust that any princess diaries or miss congeniality au is going to end up with the main ship getting together, presumably happily for the rest of their lives!! desert hearts (aka all the best people see you all the best people know) is heading towards a happy ending. howl (sansa-centric scream au) i think will have roughly as happy an ending as any horror movie final girl can hope for.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

ummmm not really. i definitely have but the only time it felt like anything other than a one-off was when i essentially started tumblr beef by wandering into the wrong tag. and that was not fun and people were hating on their own blogs for a min BUT it died down and nobody really went out of their way to bother me directly about it after that, so it was not ideal but it was fine. tagging etiquette is tricky!!

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

hmmmmmmmm historically no. but i have outlined smut!! and i'm thinking about actually writing some maybe even soon!! it's interesting bc i've discussed smut with friends and edited for them and used to roleplay and write smut scenes and that all felt fine but i haven't yet wrapped my head around the idea of being like "this is my little smut scene i made up all by myself and now i'm broadcasting it to the masses." feels like i'm opening myself up to psychoanalysis!! but also maybe once i actually write the smut scene i'll be like oh. no biggie. ok post. so we'll see hahahahah

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

not crossovers in the traditional sense but crossovers in the sense that i pick up my little blorbos and cast them in other tv shows/movies/etc, yes, constantly.

i mentioned howl above but i love that one, my sansa-centric scream au. i love jon snow mia thermopolis princess diaries hahahahah. i think it's cute and funny. i love using robin and chrissy from stranger things to make miss congeniality gay. the fic i'm posting in a few days for the stranger things rare pair big bang is also about robin and chrissy in a lil reality tv verse, so that one is really fun and silly and sweet too i think.

i don't think so! the only time anything like this has happened to me was like a tumblr rp blog misunderstanding a long time ago.

no but that would be cool!

no but i started writing mainly through role playing! so that was co-writing just in a different sense, and i miss that. it's also just really fun to talk about ideas and stuff with friends and then not always actually have to write them. i do play around with concepts a lot with @mistysharks and @beholdthemem for chrissy and the stranger things teen crew, and @cellsshapedlikestars and i also help each other brainstorm sansa and jon related asoiaf stuff which i always super appreciate

14. What’s your all time favorite ship?

i'm more of a favorite ship per fandom kind of gal than a favorite ship over all, but i'm also a multishipper in that i can kind of get into my main blorbos with anyone. i'm super still in my chrissy phase rn and i love writing her with robin, but also in a lil steve/chrissy/eddie ot3. that said i feel like i mainly read hellcheer!!

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

i hope it doesn't surprise anyone to hear that i DO have designs to finish i carry it in mine!! and howl. and desert hearts. like i have specific enough endings in mind that i am working towards for all of those.

the wip that i wish i could finish but know i never will is my marauders mediator series au based on the meg cabot books where lily can talk to ghosts and james is a ghost. i started writing it like back in 2015!! and then even started rewriting it in 2020. and i still love it. but it would be a big project to take on and one that would take a lot more work to figure out, let alone just write, and i don't really see it happening. that said i will always love it!!!

i also started a resurrection au marauders story where lily etc all start coming back to life when harry is like 24 so seven years after the end of the books, and i always thought the like emotional drama in that was so slay too. but the resurrection show itself never really had good answers for the paranormal plot/how it would play out and so i didn't have anything to crib off of lmao. and i never really invested much thought into figuring it out myself iirc. so i never really knew like plotwise where i wanted it to go so much as i was just like "how would the characters react if this happened" but i did like that thought exercise. maybe i would've written more if it would've felt like that would be satisfying to read for other people without actual like. plot.

16. What are your writing strengths?

ummm i'm really interested in like. character profiles. so i think i tend to gravitate towards that sort of story personally. a character figuring themselves/what they want out.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

low key i just like almost never write physical description stuff into my stories?? like it's all fanfiction so i'm like ok first of all you already know what everybody looks like. it takes a lot more active effort for me to be like. does the reader need to know what the character looks like right now?? does the reader need to have a clear vision of where the characters are?? what the room looks like?? i could probably afford to do that more but i find that i tend to skip it a lot

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

hmmm i really only have one fic where that might apply i think. i'd probs try to do it minimally bc i wouldn't want to do a bad job but if it's just one line i could see myself just, you know, doing google translate if i don't know a speaker i can run it by

harry potter!! i found my way to marauders era pretty quick.

20. Favorite fic you’ve written?

i have a lot of love and tenderness in my heart for desert hearts and i carry it in mine. so far those are like my heart-squeezey fics imo. but i also love howl!!! a combination of some of my favorite interests and stories. i feel like these are my main three wips too so i gotta just keep tinkering away until a new chapter falls out. hopefully sooner than later for desert hearts and i carry it in mine, which i have in fact been reorganizing a lil lately!!

As I was saying earlier, this idea is a lot of vibes for little plot! So far I was just thinking "but what if Sirius goes for the protective kidnapping (of everyone he loves and thinks they can be in danger bc of Peter) rather than killing Peter?" and here we are.

Ofc he would take Harry and Remus (and I'm thinking Mary as well), but then I'm just. Do I go with some of my hcs and include Neville as well??? Do I go with my OCs kids for Mary and maybe Wolfstar and maybe also Daisy (Jily's daughter)????? Who knows, not me.

Same problem, I'm not sure of the tone, bc something fun and more cracky could work, but something heavy on the hurt/comfort would work so well too, so I don't know!!! Maybe I'll write different versions, idk. U guys are so very welcome to try and write this idea too lmao djdjjd the more the merrier!!!

Lily & Petunia girlboss gaslight gatekeep their way into the magical world.

Funnily enough I think it's the first fic idea I had when I started coming back into the fandom!

Obviously Evans sisters centric, where Lily refuses to go to Hogwarts without Petunia and Petunia really wants to go too, so they decide to gaslight everyone into believing Petunia is a witch too. It somehow works, and the fic (OS) would follow them through their years at Hogwarts and during the war — I actually have a good chunk of it planned!!

(also a f in the chat for Snape, who knows very well Petunia is a Muggle and keeps on trying to prove it and failing to do so.)

This fic would definitely have a lot of my HCs for the magical world and how magic works so I'm a bit excited to write it actually dijdjdjd

Cedric, Fleur & Viktor form the Harry Protection Squad bc they're Very Concerned.

GoF AU, as you can imagine, and an idea I'm very fond of. I'm having more and more ideas to add to this one lmao, so we'll see what I can keep in and all.

But yeah, the idea is basically Harry gaining three older siblings (kind of) and Ron and Hermione finally getting some more help keeping him alive. The Harry Protection Squad actually keeps on getting new members!! I think it would alternate between Cedric, Fleur, & Viktor POV, with them getting more and more worried the more they learn about the three precedent years lmao. (Cedric: I knew it was bad but I didn't think it was that bad!)

Also for funsies I think Percy (who joined the Harry Protection Squad upon getting his new jury duty) should adopt the stray dog he found in Hogsmeade. He keeps bringing him to the reunions and the dog loves Harry, for some reason.

The Potters and the Longbottoms are each other's Secret Keepers.

So it was late at night and I was thinking "what if one of the Potters was the Longbottoms' Secret Keeper, and one of the Longbottoms was the Potters' Secret Keeper? How can Voldemort find them when they protect each other?" so now that's basically the whole idea!

So now Lily gets the idea after having insomnia, wakes up James to tell him, and they then invade the Longbottoms' house to share the idea with them, and they all agree on it. I go with the HC that the couples are close friends, with Alice being Harry's godmother and Lily Neville's godmother, and Alice and James knowing each other since they were kids (= Alice a toddler and James a baby). Anyways, Sirius freaks out a bit, Peter suddenly disappears, Voldemort is very unsuccessful in trying to get them, etc.

It's one of those ideas I have well-planned except for the end lmao, bc I'm not sure where to end it exactly.

rumor says that Voldemort killed the youngest Black, the others will get revenge.

This one is just really crack lmao.

Mostly, Regulus dies, rumor says Voldemort killed him, so Bellatrix, Andromeda, Narcissa, & Sirius all decide to get revenge and kill Voldemort. They also don't consult each other about it so now they're fighting over which one of them actually killed Voldemort. (Well, Bellatrix and Sirius fight over it, mostly.)

I wrote tiny bits and pieces of it, so I'll try to finish it soon!! It's not supposed to be a big thing, unlike some others of my ideas in this list lmao.

PoA, a bored Ron sending Howlers to Sirius Black.

Aka this idea, bc i love it and it makes me laugh. It feels like something Ron would do (and Hermione would help him with).

I would very much put it in the humor/crack treated seriously category, but I'm not exactly sure where to go from there. I have a few ideas about Sirius answering Ron's Howlers with his own where he's just laughing bc he thinks it's hilarious, or just sending him a "hey I wanna kill your rat" which confuse everyone, but idk. We'll see!!

PoA, Sirius helps Neville after the passwords incident.

So, remember how Crookshanks stole the paper where Neville wrote down the passwords and Sirius used it to enter the Tower, and after that Neville was punished by McGonagall and he couldn't get the password anymore and had to stay out of the Tower until someone came to get him in?

The idea is that Sirius-as-Padfoot roams a bit around the castle in case Peter is doing the same, and he ends up finding Neville outside the Tower at night, kind of trying to sleep here bc no one let him in. Sirius gets worried and decides to help him out (mainly to find a nice hideout to sleep if it happens again).

A lot of it is vibes bc i thought Sirius and Neville bonding would be very nice and I would like to see it, so. Yeah. Eijdjd.

A Sirius Lives AU where the fight at the Department of Mystery gets interrupted by Alice & Frank, as it says in the title!

The first I got involved in? Not wrote, but just... involved. Mh. It’s gotta be One Piece, that’s where I discovered fanart and fanfiction for the first time. 15. Is there an obscure ship which you love?

I mean. 75% of the ships I love are “obscure”. I... I always find the very obvious mainstream ships... boring. I mean, sometimes I find them nice in canon, but mostly I find canon to provide enough about them that I don’t really need fandom to get more of it, you know? Or, which also often happens, I find the mainstream ships have more of a very strong friendship-dynamic, or even a sibling-dynamic in some cases, and I just can’t really find it in myself to want to see them in a romantic way.

So, if I have to pick an, as in one, obscure ship, I will have to go with my top OTP. Jagnus. Jace and Magnus literally lived together, in both the show-canon and the book-canon, yet somehow it is an “obscure” ship. I mean, not somehow, we all know why. It’s the unwritten fandom rule of “canon mlm shall NEVER EVER BE BROKEN UP HOW DARE YOU SHIP ONE WITH SOMEONE ELSE”. You have no idea how often that rule has come between me and my OTP. Basically every time there is a canon mlm ship, really.

And this in no way or shape means to criticize those who only ship canon and are content with it, you do you, but I do find the lack of creativity in shipping in fandom where there is a canon mlm ship... really damn boring. Fandoms without canon mlm representation have the wildest constellations of ships, have a far broader variety of content, but when there is canon mlm, the majority of a fandom tends to just happily sit down with it and hug it and prefer not to be creative with the content and the shipping. And as a certified multishipper, I don’t really get that - like, even if you like the canon, you could have multiple ships?

17. Who was your first OTP and are they still your favourite?

My first OTP was Shere Khan/Bagheera, because gods do I love Jungle Cubs. And while other ships I interact more with have pushed it off the throne, if I see any form of Sheregheera content, I am immediately sucked in, no questions asked, no hesitation. I am utterly in love with this very rare, small, very obscure actually, ship and I will always love it and it still is one of my favorites.

23. Name a fic you’ve written that you’re especially fond of & explain why you like it.

Ooof. Interesting one. I’ve done a variety of PJO fics I’m particularly fond of in previous versions of such a question, so let’s go with something else this time. “The Lost Soulmarks”. It’s, at this point, probably my own personal most reread story. I just reread it the other night, actually. It just - it hits all of the right spots in what I want from a fic. Very often, I write to please my readers, with “What do my followers like most?” in my mind at least to a certain degree, but some things are absolutely self-indulgent. And I should really write more absolutely self-indulgent fics because those are the ones I myself keep coming back to. It has ABO-verse, it has soulmates, it’s Jace-centric, with lots of love, misunderstandings but not the kind where one of them is to blame but rather where it’s due to the circumstances, it’s really emotionally painful, but pays off in the end. It’s... seriously those are all the things I love.

P) It depends on the fic. With some I'm more of an 'architect' and others more of a 'gardener'. There's one Soup Eater fic that's been a bit of a pet project for a few years now that I'm trying to be more of a planner for. I have high hopes and ideas for it, so I want to know where I'm going for. And others I just let what happens happen.

I) I'm not sure when it comes to reading, but with writing. Apocalypse Aus. I'm sorry, but it's the truth. I will turn the world of what I'm writing for into a barren, unlivable wasteland and force the characters to find a way to survive. If I'm feeling nice, I'll let them find a way to make the land liveable again. You haven't seen much in terms of what I normally write for this because I haven't been able to get in on paper in fic from yet.

N) Not everyone Knows Legend as he Is Now. Unlike all my other over a year long hiatus wips, that is one I have no clue where I was intending to go with.

K) Depends........ What kind of angst are we talking about here? I have a few different varieties. A few Apocalypse aus, one where someone is cursed to be immortal and they get tortured for near eternity, theres whatever the fuck was going on in the MLP:FiM Hunger Games Au......

F) Flight to my Heart would have to be my favorite hurt/comfort fix to read. I just love it and it hits in all the right ways.

O) That will also depend on the fic and the idea I have for it. Some are more character centric, while others are more plot centric. How I start a story will depend on what kind of idea I have for it.

hi!! (this post got LONG because i thought i wouldn't have much to say on this and then discovered i have a ton to say on this and didn't want to cut any of it - there are. so many songs listed at the end ajflshgsjdhfd especially because i started putting in little snippets of explanation and now this post is monstrously long oops. but same goes for atfhv so i don't know what i expected. there's a TL;DR of songs i associate with particular characters/relationships at the end)

i don't have a specific playlist for atfhv - i tend to make them for moods rather than fics and switch around accordingly, but tbh what i ACTUALLY do is pick one song and loop it so i can concentrate

there was one ~dark academia ambience~ youtube video i used to listen to a lot but i'm looking for it now and i think it got deleted which is TRAGIC. it had a really nice balance of fireplace to piano music and the piano was playing this like... two-minute-long piece with lots of arpeggios and would just start over again from the beginning and it was GREAT. :(

there's also this ambient noise mixer (slytherin-themed, appropriately enough) - i usually decrease the frequency of the door closing since it distracts me and turn up the fire since i like fireplace sounds

i most recently looped the killing kind by marianas trench for like 3-4 hours during a writing session - it escalates SO dramatically afsjghsdkfj, like 'set those ghosts alight chapter 24' dramatically (if you need your memory refreshed, that's the chapter that begins with regulus visiting bellatrix for tea post-coma)

but that's all the stuff i listen to while i'm writing. with regard to songs i associate with the story, it never really occurs to me to go looking for lyrics that line up with certain characters/relationships? but there are songs that *aurally* line up with atfhv in general - like, on a vibe level. here are some of those, in no particular order:

ALSO there are a few that i do in fact associate with particular characters or relationships but they're kind of buried in the list - so i put those in a shorter list at the end of the post)

arsonist's lullabye - hozier - one thing about me is that i like bass. also in this case the lyrics kind of sort of fit! ok moving on

tempt you (evocatio) - nothing but thieves - this one has a very *particular* vibe that doesn't always quite line up, mostly because it's slow and not a particularly intense song (kind of like arsonist's lullabye). but i like it and sonically it fits so on the list it goes! in general, songs by nbt tend to have appropriate vibes for not just atfhv, but also like......... most of my regulus-centric fics afjslghsdkf. see the second bullet point list for more

i like the way you die - black honey - again not what i'd call a SUPER intense song (although more so than the previous two), but it's crunchy. this is the sort of song i'd listen to while writing a Regulus Roast™ that isn't super defensive (the defensive ones involve much more tragic/angry music)

i feel like a god - deathbyromy - similarly crunchy, also a good one to write to because it's fairly repetitive. (i get distracted REALLY EASILY by music which is why this is a concern) i'd say this song is also one where the lyrics actually kind of sort of fit, but more so for a future stage of the fic

everybody wants to rule the world - lorde - this is kind of in the vein of arsonist's lullabye and tempt you (evocatio) in terms of vibes. also has the benefit of getting grander towards the end which is an arc i like in a song because it fits atfhv

enter sandman - rina sawayama - ok i know i've heard the original version of this song but it's totally been eclipsed by rina sawayama's cover in my mind. anyway this is all about vibes and tbqh we haven't really reached the point in the story at which this truly becomes appropriate vibes. but we will. it's got a sense of grandeur that fits like................ later stages in the story. part 2 and part 3 stuff, whereas atm we are squarely in part 1

frankenstein - rina sawayama - i'd have to do a bit of a left turn to really make these lyrics fit atfhv, but they don't.... *not* fit atfhv? by which i mean regulus specifically. he's not at this point in his arc yet and when he does reach it i don't think it'll go quite like this, but i like the song so! close enough

paper mache man - the funeral portrait - in this song the singer is a little more removed (aurally) than i normally go for - with anything regulus-related i like when the singer's voice is like. RIGHT there. yay deep third person limited pov. so the singer's vibes aren't perfect but the rest of the vibes fit

forever & ever more: this is one that i associate more with stga than with atfhv, but it fits certain scenes of atfhv (mostly Intense Plotting Sequences but later on we'll get to Intense Magic Sequences which is when i'll really bring these vibes in. stga has a lot of Intense Magic Sequences which is why i associate this song really heavily with that)

your blood: i associate this one VERY heavily with sirius and regulus, with regard to their relationships with each other and also with orion. it is also a beautiful song and the singer's use of raspiness is top notch and also there are some incredible octave jumps okay this is totally unrelated to atfhv moving on

number 13: CRUNCHY. crunchy is always good. this is a song i do *not* associate with regulus afshglshdjf - it's too. bouncy? which is totally giving you the wrong impression of what the song sounds like but like. the bass is too bouncy for this to be a regulus song. this is a sirius or barty song

if i were you: also crunchy and there's a particular riff in this song that makes me think of someone digging their heels in and that's atfhv all over. you will be able to identify that riff it's everywhere. historically i am bad at telling the difference between guitar and bass just from listening unless they're doing really obviously guitar-y or bass-y things so i actually have no idea if this riff is on guitar or bass but it's one of them and it's fabulous

you know me too well: this is on the list almost entirely because of the bass part

okay i........ think that's all i've got with regard to music? there are a lot of songs on this list that i associate with regulus in terms of vibes but not in terms of lyrics. but also some of it is that i just really like bass and crunchiness and songs with a darker sound and so that bleeds over into the songs i associate with certain things because those are just the songs i listen to afjslghsjdfd
