“Remind me again,” Mike says, as Will climbs into the passenger side of the car, “why we have to go to this thing today?”
Will gives him a look. Or his best attempt at a look anyway. He’s ninety percent sure they fall too flat to ever be effective, or Mike would have stopped saying stupid shit years ago. “This thing?” He struggles with the seatbelt for a moment before it finally clicks into place. “You mean your sister’s wedding? To my brother?”
Mike pulls a face. “If you want to get into the semantics,” he mumbles, adjusting the rearview mirror, and Will laughs.
“You’re ridiculous. It’s their wedding, Mike.”
“Rude to get married on a Saturday night,” Mike says, as if every wedding in the history of the world ever hasn’t taken place on a Saturday night. “Maybe some of us had things to do.”
“Yeah? What did you have going on?” Will asks, smoothing down the lapel of his suit. This jacket is a lint magnet like nothing he’s ever seen before, and he plucks a little piece of it away. “Hot date?”
Mike wiggles his eyebrows, and Will realizes immediately that this was the wrong thing to say. “Yeah,” Mike chirps, looking entirely too pleased with himself. “You.”
Despite himself, Will feels his cheeks turn red. It’s stupid, because he quite literally handed Mike the opportunity to say this on a silver platter, and it’s more dumb than any sort of flirtatious, except the unfortunate truth of dating Mike Wheeler is that he doesn’t even have to try and actually flirt to get Will blushing like a teenage girl. “I had that coming,” he admits, and Mike grins even harder than before. “And we didn’t have a date tonight.”
“We did! We were going to–”
“We can order pizza and watch TV when we get back, Mike,” Will chides, and, when Mike’s lower lip turns downward in something reminiscent of a pout, “this is Nancy’s wedding.”
“I was never Nancy’s favorite sibling,” Mike says noncommittally, releasing the parking brake, “she won’t even notice if I’m not there,” which one, is not true because Mike makes up about a third of Nancy’s bridal party so she will most definitely notice if he goes AWOL. And second, this is also not true because Will knows that Holly is currently in the throes of teenage angst, and Mike is still working on the angst but he’s moved on from the teenager part, at least, which is definitely earning him some points in Nancy’s book. So at worst, he’s tied with Holly. At least for the next couple of years.
And Will knows he’s not being serious anyway. For all of the fuss he’s kicking up, he knows Mike is happy for them. Will checks the backseat to make sure he put the presents in the car earlier that afternoon, and says, laughing, “Cold feet? It’s not even your wedding, Mike.”
“I know,” Mike moans, falling forward until his forehead hits the top of the steering wheel. “And it’s exciting! I’m happy for them! And your brother too, and I know your mom and Hop are so pumped, and– it’s just that I’m not so pumped about spending the evening with my family.”
Will suddenly feels very, very stupid. Jesus, he hadn’t even thought about that– about Mike’s parents being there, and his nana, the one that his mom had totally guilted Nancy into inviting because she might not live long enough to see Mike and Holly get married, Nancy, just let her have this. Which was kind of a depressing enough thought on its own, Will thinks, even without the entire conversation that had followed, the one he’d overheard Mike have on the phone in the living room, loud and frustrated before he’d slammed the phone down on the receiver hard enough for Will to hear it from their bedroom.
“I’m sorry,” he breathes out, then rests a hand on Mike’s shoulder. “Don’t listen to them, okay, Mike? Just– hang out with us instead. I know Dustin’s been dying to break out his new dance moves.”
Mike cracks a tentative smile, then turns his face slightly so that one side of it is illuminated by the glow of the street lamps outside. “I’m scared he’s going to get driven away in a stretcher,” Mike admits, and Will grins.
“Yeah, probably. It’ll be a good distraction, at least. I’ll tell him to take one for the team.”
Mike nods once, but he doesn’t look convinced. “Yeah. Thanks.”
Will hesitates, then drops his hand to Mike’s and slots their fingers together. “Hey,” he says quietly. “Look at me.”
Mike looks up the rest of the way. He looks incredible tonight, which is something Will’s been thinking ever since they’d started getting ready an hour ago, and at least half of the reason it took him so long was because he’d been totally distracted the whole time. Maybe Will is just biased, which is a little true, sure, but Mike should definitely wear suits more– and he’s officially taking it upon himself to make sure that Mike wears suits more– because suddenly he’s tempted to take Mike up on his offer of becoming a runaway best man and going back inside and collapsing on the couch and kissing him stupid into the early hours of the morning.
“What?” Mike is saying, eyebrows twisting a little self-consciously. “You’re looking at me funny.”
“You just look really nice,” Will says simply, and then, because that comes nowhere close to how good Mike looks in a tie, “no, actually, you look– wow.”
Mike’s lips twitch, but he looks a little pleased. “Wow? Really?”
“You’ve rendered me speechless,” Will nods rapidly, and Mike’s shy smile breaks into something more genuine. “You– look at you, I mean– I can’t even– wow.”
“Will,” Mike says, drawing out the single syllable until it feels big enough to fill up the whole car. “Okay, I look nice! You can stop playing it up now.”
His cheeks are turning red, slowly, visible even in the dim lighting of the street lamps through the windows, because it’s early fall and it’s started to get dark ridiculously early in the day. It feels like a victory, getting Mike flustered, even after a year of dating. Will smiles to himself.
“I’m not,” Will says, then leans in across the console. “Come here. I’ll prove it.”
“You’ll–” Mike gets out, eyes going wide in surprise, “–has anyone ever told you that you’re–”
Whatever it was that people may or may not have told Will is apparently a mystery that will die with the universe, because Will never finds out. He kisses Mike with one hand still holding his, threads a hand through his hair and cups his jaw. Soft. Slow. Unhurried, even though they should have left ten minutes ago and they’re going to be cutting it real close– Will can’t be bothered to rush.
Mike hums low in the back of his throat, pleased, and shifts closer. He’s pushing himself up over the console, a hand ghosting the side of Will’s neck, when–
Beeeeep.
“What–” Will jerks backwards, startled, and Mike immediately lets go of his hand. “Did you just–”
Mike rubs his elbow and moves further away from the wheel. “I got a little distracted,” he laughs, but the tension has ebbed from his shoulders a little and his eyes are creasing up at the corners, so Will considers this a mission success, thank you. “We should probably go?”
“Good idea,” Will says, then reaches over to smooth out a stray tuft of Mike’s hair that was– he thinks, a little proud of himself– definitely not out of place before. “And hey,” he adds, before Mike can take the car out of park. “Seriously. Ignore your parents. It’s not their wedding, okay, it’s Nancy’s. And Jonathan’s. And they both want us there. Together.”
Mike’s lips press together into a thin, determined line. “You’re right,” he nods, “I know, it’s just–”
“I know,” Will echoes, and Mike shoots him a grateful smile. “Now let’s go, or we really will miss the ceremony.”

They don’t miss the ceremony, which is good, because having both the best man and the– whatever Mike was– would probably not be a good look for anyone involved.
“I can’t believe you cried,” Dustin says, after the toasts are done and the speeches are given and everyone’s been supplied with enough champagne to go a little loose and maybe a little tear-happy.
Mike scowls across the table at him. “I didn’t cry,” he insists, which is kind of pointless because Will had been watching him the whole time he’d been standing up there, shuffling his feet awkwardly in place at his designated spot in between Holly and Robin Buckley, and he’d definitely cried. Just a little, but he had.
“You did,” El chimes in primly, plucking at her shrimp cocktail. “I saw.”
“Thanks, El,” Mike mutters, sinking back in his chair a little and crossing his arms. “It’s– the vows were very emotional, okay, you’d have to be made of total stone to not tear up!”
“I didn’t cry,” Lucas announces, which is a fucking lie, by the way. Will saw him dabbing at his eyes in the bathroom on the way here.
“I think it’s sweet,” he says, instead of throwing Lucas to the dogs like he maybe should have. He flashes Mike a grin, leans over in his chair to bridge the space between them and squeezes his hand, once. “They were very sappy vows, to be fair.”
Mike blinks up at him from where he’s slumped down to somewhere around shoulder height. “You didn’t cry.”
“Oh, I did,” Will assures him. “I just cried in the back with Jonathan while he was getting ready.”
“Really?” Mike perks right up. “You did?”
“Yes,” Will laughs, “and I can’t believe you’re happy about it,” and then Mike grins so wide that Will can’t help but lean in the rest of the way and press a quick kiss to Mike’s cheek.
“You two are disgusting,” Lucas says, and he’s maybe one strike away from Will speaking up about the bathroom incident after all.
“Maybe so,” Mike relents, looking properly cheered up now. “What about it?”
Mike’s grip on Will’s hand never falters. Will feels himself turn warmer with every slow pass of Mike’s thumb over his knuckles, even with their hands tucked under the tablecloth and out of view. And it isn’t from the champagne. He’s had just the one glass with dinner, which is nothing, so it must be something else that’s making him feel like this. Something–
“You okay?” Mike murmurs as his thumb pauses, briefly, on the back of Will’s hand. “You got kind of quiet out of nowhere,” and yeah, there it is.
“I meant it,” Will says, lowering his voice so their friends can’t hear them from across the table. “What I said in the car, I mean. You look beautiful.”
It’s a little amusing just how fast Mike can turn such a violent shade of red. “You can’t just say that,” he splutters. “Give a guy some warning, Jesus, Will–”
“Mm, no,” Will decides smugly, watching the red creep down the collar of Mike’s carefully starched dress shirt. Then, because the soft lighting of the venue and the way Mike’s hair has started to fall free around his face is doing something funny to his chest and stomach, Will nods to the dance floor and says, “You wanna?”
Mike hesitates, looking over his shoulder. “Dance?”
Will shrugs, then looks over to where Jonathan and Nancy are trying– and failing, quite hilariously and miserably– at a dance of their own. “I mean, it’s a wedding, and people dance at weddings. Not that either of us are good at it, but it might be fun to try?”
Mike chews nervously at his lower lip and nudges Will’s foot with his own. “I don’t know,” he admits. “My mom was eyeing me earlier and I was totally avoiding her by hiding out over here but I feel like the dance floor is fair game for a–” he waves his hands around, “pseudo-confrontation. Nancy’s only three years older than you, blah, blah. When are you going to settle down, blah, blah. Even though I’m here with my boyfriend, which apparently doesn’t count for shit, and–” Mike sighs dejectedly. “Sorry. I didn’t mean to bring the mood down, it’s just– I was having such a good day, too.”
Will squeezes Mike’s leg, just above the knee. “You were having a good day? Really? Even though your hot date got canceled?”
“Well,” Mike rolls his eyes. “My sister got married, and now my hot date is all dressed up and sweet-talking me, so I think this is even better than pizza on the couch.” He pauses, contemplating. “Actually, scratch that. It’s not. But it’s a close second,” Mike adds, then grins and picks Will’s hand up again. “Dance– later, maybe? I’m really enjoying this for right now.”
“Of course. Anything you want,” Will smiles, as the music in the background softens into something more mellow. He pulls his chair up so that it’s flush with Mike’s, their thighs pressed up together in one line, and passes Mike a flute of champagne from the table. “You might want to drink this, though, because your mom looks like she might be heading over here any second.”
“Thanks,” Mike groans, then knocks the whole thing back in one go.

Will knows that a big fancy flashy wedding isn’t really Jonathan’s style, and he didn’t think it was Nancy’s either. Which is why he was surprised to get an invite to an event at all, because he’d honestly sort of thought they’d make a courthouse affair of it and then have everyone over for dinner or something. They’d been engaged for, like, three years, because it was career stuff and then more career stuff and then a couple months of long distance while Jonathan was doing some photojournalism thing in London, and Will had figured at some point that they’d get so tired of being engaged that they’d show up the next day with papers from City Hall and that would be that.
Apparently, though, in a not-so-surprising turn of events, Nancy Wheeler takes to event planning like a moth to flame, and Jonathan was immediately dragged along for the ride. He didn’t seem too upset about it, though, when Will had asked. “It’s Nancy,” he shrugged, like that explained everything. And maybe it did, because not too long after that, Will started dating Mike and everything immediately clicked.
Which is maybe the most embarrassing thing that’s ever happened to him. For anyone else, Will would not even entertain the thought of fussing over seating arrangements, and he’s certain he only knows, like, five types of flowers– if pink and red roses count as two different types. It’s Nancy, Jonathan had said, and Will hadn’t gotten it then but he does now.
Mike’s hand twitches on Will’s bicep, fingers clutching once at the fabric of his shirt. Will’s suit jacket lies abandoned on the chair behind them. Mike had leaned over maybe half an hour ago to rest his head on Will’s shoulder, as it got later in the night and guests started slowly trickling out of the room. And then, maybe fifteen or so minutes ago, his breathing had evened out, fingers slackening in their grip against his arm, and Will doesn’t know how the hell Mike can fall asleep in a room that’s filled with so much noise, but he can’t help but find it endearing– wholly, completely, embarrassingly endearing.
And he gets it, he does. It’s Mike, he thinks, chest flooding with warmth in a strange, hollowed-out way, like there’s nothing left inside him except this feeling. It’s Mike. It’s Mike. It’s–
“Hey, hon,” comes a voice behind him, and Will startles, just a little, then immediately relaxes.
“Oh, hey mom,” he whispers, and Mike’s hand twitches lightly against his arm again. Joyce gives him an amused look, glancing down at Mike, then back at Will.
“Did he fall asleep?” she asks, pulling up a chair next to them. “I’ll be quiet, don’t worry.”
Will feels himself smile before he actually realizes he’s doing it. “Yeah,” he snorts softly, “but I have no idea how.”
As if roused by some sixth sense, like he knew they were talking about him, Mike stirs, lifting his head off of Will’s shoulder and blinking blearily. “What–”
“Shh,” Will says, and Joyce bites back a smile. “Go back to sleep.”
“I didn’t mean to,” Mike says, and then yawns loud and conspicuously. “Shit– I’ve just been so tired this week, sorry, Will–”
“Don’t be,” he says immediately, even though his shoulder and arm are starting to fall asleep, just a little. Will drops a kiss to the top of Mike’s head, and feels him start to smile into his shoulder before stiffening, a little self-consciously, and glancing up at Joyce.
“Um–”
“Oh,” his mom waves a hand, “don’t mind me. You two are so sweet. You remind me of Nancy and Jonathan after they started dating. Jonathan would turn so red, but maybe not as red as you’re turning right now, Will–”
“Mom!”
“Red?” Mike perks up, and then, “Oh you are turning red!”
“Shut up,” Will mumbles, but he’s sure it’s not convincing in the slightest. “Did you come over here just to embarrass me?”
Joyce puts two hands up in the air like hey, don’t look at me. “I was just going to let you know that Hop and I are taking off,” she says, eyes sparkling. “He has the early shift tomorrow, but Mike, now that I’ve caught you– your speech was wonderful. Really. Jim was tearing up and he told me to never let you find out but I figured you’d want to know.”
Mike blinks. He still looks a little out of it, still a little red from sleep or the champagne from earlier, but he smiles, sudden and pleased. “Really?”
“Don’t tell him I told you,” Joyce grins conspiratorially. “But yes. It was very sweet.”
“Thanks Mrs. Byers,” Mike says, the words stretching into another yawn, quieter this time. He groans lightly, then pushes himself off of Will’s shoulder and sits back up.
Will peers over at him. “Are you tired? You want to head back?”
Mike rubs at his eyes with both hands, blinks a few times in rapid succession, then shakes his head like he’s trying to shake the sleep out of his body, like it’s a physical thing. “No,” he smiles, and it’s a little bit tired, but he looks happy. “No, not yet.”
“Okay,” Will whispers, and he’s probably grinning like an idiot, but he can’t help it. That’s the common denominator here, between every interaction he ever has with Mike– that he’s so happy that he just can’t help it. “You still want to get pizza on the way back?”
“God, yes please,” Mike groans in relief. “Um. No offense, but wedding food is just– like what the hell, man, I’m starving. That was nothing.”
“Pizza it is,” Will agreed easily, mentally making a pros and cons list of getting a large and having leftovers or saving money and going for a medium. “Pepperoni?”
“Anything goes,” Mike is saying, and then Joyce clears her throat.
“Well,” she says, snapping her purse shut and smiling. “Hop and I are heading out but– oh, drive safe you two. Eat a slice for me, actually, I’ve been craving pizza all week.”
“Bye, mom,” Will smiles, craning his neck upwards as she plants a kiss on top of his head.
“You too,” she says to Mike, who barely has time to blink in surprise before his mom is dropping a kiss on his forehead. She rests a hand on his shoulder briefly as she smiles and says, “I’d welcome you to the family, Mike, but you’ve been a part of it for years already.”
“I– bye, Mrs. Byers,” Mike says faintly, eyes wide, as Joyce waves goodbye. He turns back to Will. “Part of the family? Really?”
“It’s what you get for dating your best friend,” Will murmurs, glancing out over the rapidly emptying room before tugging on Mike’s arm until he falls into him with a small, startled noise. “You get smothered by my mom.”
“I wouldn’t call it smothering,” Mike laughs, eyes darting down to Will’s mouth. He swallows, and says, softly, “Plus, I like your family. No complaints from me.”
Will hums, soft. “I’m sorry about– you know. How did that go?”
“Nancy said she survived mom and dad with minimal damage,” Mike laughs drily. “And nana too. And I managed to avoid them long enough that they didn’t have a chance to ambush me, so.”
“Good,” Will says, kissing Mike softly on the corner of his mouth, then again, right over the curve of his cupid’s bow. He’s a little warm, a little loose and pliant from sleep, and he moves easily, tucking a finger into the loop of Will’s tie and pulling him in closer. Their knees bump against each other under the tablecloth, chair legs scraping gently across the polished floor as Will leans forward. “I’m glad,” Will says into the kiss, and Mike smiles.
“Me too,” Mike whispers, tucking his hands into Will’s hair and pulling away, just barely. “Because now they’re gone and all of our annoying cursory invite relatives are gone and it’s just you and me– and Nancy, and Jonathan, and El and Lucas and– whatever. I think I owe you a dance.”
There’s something slow and melodic playing as Nancy and Jonathan make the last of their rounds, most of the tables empty and the dance floor cleared out. Will grins, kisses Mike one more time for good measure, then stands up. “Okay,” he agrees, “but I’m leading.”
“I don’t think it makes a difference, because neither of us can–”
“I’m leading,” Will says again, and Mike chuckles, shaking his head.
“Yeah, sure. Lead the way, Will.”

💒 How would your OC's ideal wedding look like? If they've already been married or are already married, what was their wedding like? Was there a large gathering, or will be? Was it an indoor or outdoor venue? Will your OC act different from usual? Will they be calm and collected, or a nervous wreck?
Talia Crane - her wedding will be simple with just a few guests composed of the closest friends. Nothing fancy as she marries quite late in life, indoor venue, short and sweet. She would be calm, considering a normal succession of events. If she will ever marry again in the future, it would more than likely be something very intimate and in secret, but that's a super BIG if.
Leila Hellebore - me and @that-scouse-wizard haven't really spoken of the wedding between her and Reuben, but I guess it would be held at the dragon sanctuary with their found family and friends. Both would more than likely be a nervous wreck, tears of happiness and lots of emotions running wild. More than likely outdoors if the weather allows it.
Scarlett Tempest - Mind you this kiddo would more than likely marry late if she does after dating someone a long time or would either fall head over heels and marry within the first months of the relationship. Being a spoiled girl, she would want something grand, planning everything (bridezilla mode) and would probably need a lot of encouragement to have fun and not focus on every single detail during the ceremony and party
Victoria Summer - Bebe Victoria would more than likely be flexible and honestly go with either big or small, depending on her partner. She would have a say in decorations, flowers being a must have. More than likely an outdoor venue, probably on a beach or lake shore. She would be a blushing, smiling mess throughout everything.
Jin Watanabe - If he ever would get married, he would more than likely try to include elements of both cultures if he doesn't find a partner from Japan. A more traditional wedding, with all the customs, probably too much. He would be a nervous wreck at the beginning, especially seeing the bride walking down the isle.
🛀 What does your OC typically smell like? Do they have a really strong scent, like perfume, cologne, or something? Do they typically smell like liquor, cigarettes, etc.? Or do they just not have a strong smell?
Talia Crane - With her there is a faint lingering smell of smoke, citrus and warmth, the type you smell in clothes left to dry out on a hot sunny day
Leila Hellebore - She smells like rain, rose water and a faint smell of iron, like the smell of blood
Scarlett Tempest - She smells like vanilla, powder sugar and pineapple
Victoria Summer - She always smells good, mainly due to all the perfumes she tries and creates. Her natural smell that can be found in Amortetia would be cinnamon, sandalwood and cherries
Jin Watanabe - with Jin being a demon he actually has no distinct smell, however he does use a perfume with deep wood essence however combined on his skin it adds a faint smell of black licorice
✨ What is your OC's favorite holiday, and why? Do they change how they present themselves, appearance and personality-wise? Or do they stay the same? Does this holiday hold some important meaning to them? Or does it just give them an excuse to party or be different?
Talia Crane - that would be Christmas. She has a thing for certain scented candles and fairy lights. Despite her avid hate for the cold she would venture outside to watch the snow fall and see the city decorations
Leila Hellebore - Not a big fan of any holiday in particular, as long as they are spent with family and close friends that's what counts
Scarlett Tempest - Her birthday? Should be a holiday celebrated by many :)))
Victoria Summer - Any bank holiday in the summer as she can have an extra long weekend to enjoy different activities as most of her time is spent working with her grandmother
Jin Watanabe - New Year since it signals the dawn of a new year, time and he gets to ponder on everything that happened the previous year while giving praise to it and making a wish for the new one.

Falling For You -Part 6
January
Pairing- Dean xJo, Eventual Dean x Female!Reader, Past Reader x OMC Justin, mentioned.

Warnings- REMEMBER SLOW BURN! We'll be interrupting the fluff you have had to bring you angst this chapter, along with unrequited feelings, heartbreak, and two morons who need to learn to talk to each other. Possible language, there is a dash of fluff. Seriously thought a lot of angst in this one. Sorry!
A/N- I had an idea for a one shot, and giving a backstory to Dean and the Reader meeting took on a life of its own. This story is AU Thank you to @waywardbeanie and @whatareyousearchingfordean for helping me keep these 2 characters in line, letting me bounce ideas off of you, and send you random messages when something pops in my head.
I debated about posting today with everything with the finale last night. If you aren’t up to reading right now that’s perfectly fine.
Summary- After being burned before you had sworn off finding love for now. Coming home from work one night there is a strange man pounding on your door. Neither of you knew what this meeting would lead to.
The New Year’s Party and its ramifications. Remember how we left the last chapter? Sorry!! I am going to try and have the next one out on Monday. Until then I think I’m going to go hide.
Series Masterlist
Nine days, since you have seen Dean. He sent a text this morning about getting together tonight, you have an appointment with Meg, but should be able to meet up with Dean first. You can’t wait to see him again. Just after your lunch break your phone beeps with a text. ‘Sorry Sweetheart, I’m going to have to stay late tonight. Tomorrow maybe?’
Of course he’s been away for a week Jo must be there today and he wants to spend time with her. Texting him back ‘Sorry I can’t tomorrow’ you return to your work. Charlie notices the change in your demeanor and comments on it.
“What happened to you? You were an unbearable rainbow of cheerfulness this morning, now it looks like someone stole your pot of gold?”
“Nothing, I’m fine.”
“Yeah and I’m dating the fairy queen. Spill.”
“I had dinner plans with Dean, he just canceled. It’s nothing.”
“Okay, but I don’t think you really believe that.”
That night at Meg’s dress fitting she wasn’t in the best of moods because her dress was a bit tight.
“Meg,” you tried to reason with her, “you scheduled this for days after Christmas, too many sweets over the weekend. You will be fine.”
“Nope time for bridal bootcamp. Diets and exercise in the New Year, no more random baking. We are going to look killer in April.”
“Am I to assume I’m doing this with you?” She just stared at you, Meg wasn’t the type of friend to beg. “Fine, at least I work out already. You are the one who’s going to have to get used to the gym again.”
Wednesday you got out of work at three and headed home to finish your deserts, get yourself ready and head out by 6 to help Meg set up. Knocking on the door Cas lets you in taking the orange cranberry cake from you. Following him to the kitchen Meg looks over when you enter.
“Are those deserts?” She raises her brows giving you a hard look as you set them out on the table.
Taking your time in replying, you turn back to her, “Yes, Bridezilla they are the two you asked me to make a few weeks ago. You have the round orange cranberry cake for good luck and the raspberry parfaits in wine glasses, they just need whip cream on top along with a cherry.
You said bootcamp starts in the new year, that’s tomorrow enjoy tonight. ”
“Who’s going to bootcamp?” Dean asked as he, Sam and Jess just joined you in the kitchen.
Jess walks over to check out what you brought and to give you a hug while Meg explains to Dean about her bootcamp.
“You are the best man Winchester, maybe you should join us.”
“I don’t think so, Meg. I just got a coupon book for Christmas and I fully intend to use it.” He looks at you with a big smile on his face, you send him back a small one. Okay maybe you were a tiny bit upset about him staying at work with Jo Monday.
Cas calls the guys into the other room while you and Jess help Meg, before he leaves Dean walks over to you. “I’m sorry about Monday. I was looking forward to seeing you. Can we talk later?”
“Sure Dean.”
When they leave Jess digs into her bag and hands you and Meg both a box. “Sam and I were talking today and I realized I had completely forgotten to give these to you guys when I did them last month. In my head we were already past this.” You and Meg looked at each other then Jess, not sure what she was getting at with the boxes. “Come on, open them!”
Carefully unwrapping and opening the box you just stared at its contents not sure what to say yet.
“Oh look,” exclaimed Meg, “the wino gave us wine!”
“You really want me to be your Maid of Honor?” You whispered. Meg’s request to be hers wasn’t a shock to you, Jess’ was.
“Yes I really do.” We’ve gotten to be great friends this last year, and I want you up there with me. We both know Meg won’t do it.”
“Nope, we have already had this discussion planning your wedding, I’m no one's bitch.”
You both shook your head at Meg and Jess started speaking again. “I have a cousin who will be in the wedding and a friend from work, but I’m not as close with them. I don’t have a sister yet, but I have a feeling one day soon I will. So yes, I want you. Please, don’t make me get Sam in here with the puppy dog eyes.”
“I would be honored Jess, I’ve had plenty of practice with Megzilla over there.” Meg stuck her tongue out at you before heading to pour you all a shot to toast with. “This is super cute by the way.”
“Thanks, how did Meg ask?”
Well, when Meg asked me she handed me an envelope with cardstock inside that said something about I was the only person she likes, will you be my Maid of Honor?”
“It’s true. According to my mother I had to have my two cousins in the wedding, but no way was I dealing with one of them as my MOH.”
“How did you ask them? You never did tell me.”
“Hey sluts you’re going to be in my wedding right?”
Looking at her a moment before you said anything, “I’d ask if you were joking, but I’m pretty sure you’re serious.”
“I am. Your ask was as fancy as I was getting. Okay enough wedding talk for the night, time to get the party started!”
It wasn’t too big of a party, besides the six of you a few of Cas’ friends from work were there, his brother Gabe, sister Anna both of whom had come up to visit Cas, and Charlie.
Later that night the guys are watching some competition in the living room while the ladies are hanging out in the kitchen. Charlie who was one of the last to arrive, looks over at you and asks “So is this infamous Dean here tonight, do I get to actually meet him?”
The punch you had just taken a drink of flying right back out. Meg grins looking over at you before turning to Charlie. “Has she been talking about one green eyed mechanic at work?”
“Practically every day, you should have seen how down she got Monday when he canceled dinner with her.”
Jess joins the conversation next, “Is she as in denial with you as she is with us?”
Finally finding your voice, “I’m not in denial.”
“You mean about how they are just friends, and she wasn’t moping at all last week when he was out of town. Or how she was fine when she wasn’t going to see him on Monday.”
“I wasn’t moping and I WAS fine on Monday.”
“Oh” Meg starts talking, no one is paying attention to you. “Have you seen the way her face lights up when she gets a call or text from him?”
“It does not.”
“Yes,” answered Charlie, “and you don’t even have to ask who it is, the face says it all.”
All three turn to look at you, “Oh are you actually going to acknowledge I’m here now? For the millionth time, we are just friends.” They all start laughing, rolling your eyes you turn away.
Jess comes over and puts her arm around your shoulders, “Come on Y/N, we are starting a new year shortly let’s start it honestly. How do you really feel about Dean?”
“Guys, I don’t know how to be any clearer. Dean and I are friends, simply friends. There will never be anything more. We are never going to date, or get married, please just drop it.”
Dean’s point of view
Checking my watch it’s after 11, I haven’t had a chance to talk to Y/N alone yet. If I’m going to sort everything out before midnight I need to go find her. Cas had come back into the room a few minutes ago so I asked him where the girls are and he directs me to the kitchen. Grabbing my beer I head that way. Standing in the hall near the door I can hear them laughing, but I don’t hear Y/N’s laugh. She has the cutest one. Then I hear Jess start talking and she asks Y/N about me. This could be perfect timing to what I want to talk to her about.
“Guys, I don’t know how to be any clearer. Dean and I are friends, simply friends. There will never be anything more. We are never going to date, or get married, please drop it.”
Her words were a knife through my heart. I guess it was the perfect time to realize I would be damaging our friendship if I told her how I felt. So much for mom’s intuition. Turning back around quickly, I head outside for some time alone.
Standing out in the cold with the snow blowing around so many thoughts running through my head. I was really hoping my mom was right about Y/N, I didn’t realize how much I had imagined she was and what was going to happen next with us. Then my thoughts unfortunately go to everything Lisa has thrown at me. Maybe she’s right and no one is going to really want me for me. Y/N knows so much about me, she’s really the first person I let in in a long time. I thought I could be myself around her but she saw who that was and she doesn’t want to be with me. She just made that perfectly clear. Hearing a car horn in the distance I think about work and what Benny had said this week. Jo doesn’t really know me, maybe it’s not too late to change for her to stay interested.
Back in the kitchen
Everyone was looking at you and you continued to pretend the floor was extremely interesting.
“If that were the truth and you really felt that way, you would be looking at us and saying it, not explaining it to the floor.” Meg tells you.
“Why do you keep insisting there is nothing there? We’ve seen the two of you together, and you were totally pouting at the party when he was late because of Jo. Your eyes were greener than Dean’s that night. What’s really going on, it's time to be honest with us.”
“You want the truth? Yeah, Dean is an amazing guy, probably the best one I’ve met. I’m not the girl for him. He deserves someone so much better than me. He likes to go out and do things, he likes horror movies and haunted woods. He needs someone who doesn’t get scared easily. Someone who isn’t going to hold him back and ruin his good time. Someone he can be proud to be seen out with. We all know that’s not me.” You turn away as you finish to hide the tears threatening to fall.
Meg and Jess exchange looks before Meg walks over and gives you a hug. “See this is where we don’t let Justin win. It’s time to move on and be happy.”
Jess appears on your other side, “Dean is nothing like Justin. If something scares you he’ll be there for you just like at the Halloween party. He won’t belittle you for it. He would be very proud to be seen with you. I’ve known Dean a long time Y/N, I haven’t ever seen him as happy as he is when he’s spending time with you. We aren’t kidding when we say we see the two of you together.”
“Thanks ladies, will you give me a minute.” Heading to the restroom to regroup you clean up smudged makeup and try and calm yourself down. Jess and Meg were right, it was time to move on. You also needed to stop wrestling your feelings for Dean down. You weren’t going to find a better guy than him anywhere.
Walking back down the hallway you saw Dean coming in the front door, his face looked a bit red must have been cold out there. Giving him a smile you walked his way, “Hey Dean you said you wanted to talk.”
“Oh yeah, it wasn’t important. I was just going to see how your week is going. I really want to see if this guy makes the jump I’ll talk to you later.”
“Okay,” You watched him head back to the living room. A feeling in your gut told you something in that short conversation wasn’t right.
11:50 you helped Meg and Jess carry in glasses of champagne to the living room getting ready for the countdown. Meg made Cas turn on ‘Rockin New Year’s Eve Countdown’ that you all had been watching in the other room.
10..9..8..7..6..5..4..3..2..1.Happy New Year!! As you watched the couples around you kiss their significant other you turned to look at Dean who had walked away when you stood next to him before the countdown. His eyes briefly met yours before quickly turning away. You wished Charlie a Happy New Year before moving on to Meg and Jess, Dean had left the room before you reached him. Finally finding him in the kitchen with a beer.
“Happy New Year, Dean. I hope you have a much better one than last year.”
“Yeah well it’s off to one hell of a start,” he snarled out.
“I’m sorry you feel that way.” You weren’t exactly sure what was going on with him. You were only minutes into the new year.
“Well I guess there is a lot I shouldn’t be feeling. See ya Y/N.” With that he grabbed his coat from the back of the chair quickly exiting the room, leaving a stunned you behind.
Starting the clean up in the kitchen you didn’t feel much like going back out and joining the rest of them. Meg found you a little while later most of the food cleaned up and put away.
“What are you doing in here?”
“Just picking up, I didn’t want you to worry about it.”
“You and Dean both disappeared; we thought you’d be making out somewhere.”
“Nope, just me, He grabbed his coat. I don’t know where he went.”
Over the next week you tried to make plans to meet up with Dean, but he either ignored your calls and texts or sent one word replies. It seemed he was too busy to get together with you right now. That Saturday you were heading back to your apartment with Charlie when you ran into Sam and Jess in the elevator.
“Hey Y/N, where’s Dean?” Sam asked you looking around.
“I haven’t seen him since the New Year’s party. He’s been acting a little weird. He's not with me, I don’t know. Why do you think I’d know where he is?”
Sam looked over at Jess before continuing, seeing her frown and shrug he reluctantly answered you. “He said he had a date tonight. We both thought it was with you.”
“No, not with me.” You are fighting to keep a neutral face and not break down when you answer. “Guess this goes to show we were only friends. I got to go, talk to you guys later.” Quickly exiting the elevator when it opened you rushed to your door with Charlie following behind.
Sam watched you go, he saw the hurt you were trying to hide and he felt so bad when he saw your face fall. My brother’s an idiot he thought to himself.
Once inside the safety of your apartment you paced from the living room to the kitchen and back again trying to calm down. Charlie was standing by the door watching, waiting to see what you were going to do next. Ten minutes later you were still pacing and Charlie answered the knock at your door. Meg entered not noticing what you were doing yet.
“Okay, I’m ready to talk about the groom's cake, Castiel is extremely excited you agreed to make that one. I want you to know, I am fully expecting you to go home with the best man after my wedding.”
At that you lost the little composure you were holding onto throwing yourself down on the couch grabbing a throw pillow and screaming into it, before those screams turned to tears.
“Okay, I thought we were past denying our feelings for Dean.”
She couldn’t understand your blubbering through the tears so Charlie translated. “She just found out from Sam that Dean’s on a date tonight.”
Meg picked up her phone dialing someone, “Are you home? Then get over here now. Y/N’s.” Turning to Charlie still standing by the door, “Will you open that?”
Confused, Charlie did as she was asked pulling it open, just as Jess came rushing in. Seeing you crying on the couch she rushed over to give you a hug. “I’m so sorry, Sam and I were sure it was you.”
You cried into her shoulder trying to once again push down the emotions you had finally admitted for Dean. Meg walked over to sit on the other side of you. “When did this happen, and who’s the chick? I texted Cas and he doesn’t know anything about it.”
“Sam asked Dean if he wanted to come over tonight and Dean said he had a big date tonight and couldn’t. He didn’t mention a name so we both thought…” She trailed off but looked down at you before looking back at Meg.
“What is he thinking? He’s..”
“It’s fine,” Your shaky voice cut Meg off before she could keep going. “I’m just over reacting anyway. I told you guys he didn’t see me as more than a friend. He told me he didn’t want to get back out there and date. I guess he just meant he didn’t want to date me.”
Taking a deep breath you continued, “Justin was right I’m not worth it. I would have just ruined things between us anyways. I ruin everything, that’s probably why Dean is dating someone else. He’s tired of me ruining things for him.”
“What do you think you ruined?” Meg wants to know.
“I don’t know but obviously something.”
“Oh honey, that’s not true at all, Dean couldn’t do any better than you.” Jess said, giving you another hug.
“It’s okay. This will be for the best.”
“Do you really believe that?” Jess asked you.
“Eventually I will.” Giving her one more hug you get up to get yourself a drink of water. You glance at the picture frame sitting on your end table, laying it flat as you go by, willing the tears to stay away. Blowing your nose before heading back you try to act like you have it put together. Fake it till you make it right?
“You came over to talk wedding Meg, let’s talk about something happy.”
“It’s okay it can wait for another day.”
“No, I can wallow in my own self pity when I’m alone, it’s fine.”
The girls try their best to distract you for the evening and you let them think they are. They don’t need to know that every other thought is Dean on a date with someone else. You know this means things are going to have to change for you.
Over the next week Jess and Meg both tried to get you out of your apartment in the evenings, but you kept finding excuses to avoid them. One night you even had to leave your apartment so Jess would believe you actually were going out. Granted you sat in your car for an hour in the parking lot, but at least she left you alone the rest of the night. You just didn’t feel right hanging out with them right now. Yes, they were your friends, but you had gotten used to spending time with them along with Dean. That wasn’t an option any more. Dean was Sam’s brother and Cas’ best friend. He wasn’t going to stay away from them. You couldn’t handle seeing him with his new girlfriend right now so you stayed away. Not to mention you would be the odd one out now, everyone else being in a relationship.
Speaking of the man, you never heard from him this week. Nothing since Friday when you asked him if he wanted to come over or go out and grab dinner. All you got was a text back with ‘Can’t.’ This was the longest you've gone without talking since you met. You really missed your friend, but it looked like you would have to get used to that.
The weekend after you found out about Dean’s new girl you were sitting on your couch watching Hallmark movies. Why couldn’t things in your life work out like that. Meet a great guy, he actually likes you, maybe there was a smidge of drama then happy ever after. But your life wasn’t a romantic comedy. You didn’t think you would ever get that happy ever after. A knock interrupted your pity party for one.
Meg, Jess, and Charlie were on the other side, great they were teaming up now. This meant you couldn’t use one of them as an excuse to the others. Before you could even say anything Meg pushed the door open.
“Hi, we’re coming in. Apparently you have been using the three of us to tell the others you have plans with the other. So if we are all together, you can’t avoid us.”
“I just wasn’t up for anything this week.”
“Well at least you got out of the here Thursday with Charlie,” Jess remarked smiling at you.
“No she didn’t,” cut in Charlie.
Jess turned to look at you with raised brows and you looked at the floor. “I may have gone and sat in my car so you would think I left.”
“Y/N!”
You just shrugged and walked back to the couch. Jess and Charlie sat on either side of you while Meg stood in front of you. “You need to get out of here and get your mind off of Dean.”
“I do get out of here, I go to work. I’ve even been to the grocery store and the gym.”
“Doesn’t count. We are dragging you out of here tonight, nothing drastic, just dinner and friends. Go change.”
“Do I have a say?”
“You can pick the restaurant.”
“Fine, give me a minute.”
As much as you didn’t want to admit it the girls were right. You enjoyed the time out with them, and they successfully got your mind off of what’s his name. Then Meg started talking about Jess’s birthday. You completely forgot that it was coming up, and that she shared a birthday with Dean.
“We are having a get together at his house since it’s bigger. Mary and John are coming up for the weekend, too. We both have friends from work coming. You three will all be there right?”
The other two readily agreed, you took a moment to think about it. Besides Meg, Jess was your best friend, and at one point Dean was too. It was actually his thirtieth birhday. You really should go. “Yes, I will be there. Is there anything you want me to bring?”
“I’d love anything you wanted to bring.”
“Okay, I’ll come up with something.”
With the promise of attending the party the girls let up on you over the next week, letting you do your thing. Going through your recipes you found the perfect dessert to take for Jess. You knew the girl loved blueberries. Deciding to play nice you even made something for the birthday boy.
Arriving at the party you knocked on the door and luckily Sam was the one who greeted you. Giving you a genuine smile he hugged you before ushering you in. Taking one of the desserts and gifts from you he led the way to the kitchen. Jess and Meg inside finishing up the food when you entered. The Birthday girl rushing over to hug you.
“I’m so happy you came!”
“Happy Birthday Lady! I told you I would.”
“Yeah, but we weren’t so sure you would actually make it.” Sticking your tongue out at her you went to set the deserts up.
A few minutes later you heard Dean walk in followed by Mary. She came over giving you a great big hug.
“So good to see you again, hunny.”
“It’s good to see you also Mary. How have you been?”
“Good, good. How about you? Anything new, anything to share?”
“Not really, things are okay, just been working lately.” She gave you a strange look before smiling at you.
Seeing Dean watching you from behind her you said hello.
“Y/N, hey.” Walking closer, he looks at the table, “Did you bring pie?”
“Yeah, a cherry and a blueberry.”
“Oh awesome! Thank you.”
“No problem, Happy Birthday.”
Others started to arrive shortly and Jess and Dean both went into the living room to greet people. As the party was underway you noticed a blonde attached to Dean’s side. That must be the girlfriend, you thought. Meg came up beside you, “I heard her name is Jo. I guess he met her at the shop.”
“He’s mentioned her before. He was with her the night of the Christmas party, but he told me they were just friends. Guess that was a lie.”
Doing your best to keep your distance you tried to enjoy your night. Sam introduced you to Dean’s coworker Benny. He seemed like a nice guy. The two of you talked for a bit before he moved on. Not realizing how close you were to Dean you hear Mary ask him who the girl was. Turning you saw Jo walk back over then.
“I’m Jo, Dean’s girlfriend.” If you had been facing them you would have seen Dean’s eye go wide.
Quickly walking off to find Jess you miss the rest of the conversation. Finding your friend you wish her a happy birthday again, but claimed a bad headache and told her you will be heading out. Grabbing your coat from the office you make a hasty exit before anyone can stop you.
Dean’s Point of View
I was surprised to see Y/N in the kitchen, but if I’m being honest it was really good to see her. It hurt to know how she really felt about me. Because of that, yes, I have been trying to distance myself, but I missed my friend. I had not talked to her in two weeks. Walking over to see what she brought I’m betting it something for Jess. I wasn’t expecting to see the pies, oh my mouth started watering. Missed that girl's baking so much, along with well pretty much everything else about her. The doorbell started ringing so I headed out to answer it, not sure what else to say to Y/N.
Jo shows up shortly after the party starts. She immediately attaches to my side. I wish she would give me a little space. She has been like this since I asked her out. I was supposed to have a boys night with Sam, Cas, and Benny last week. We were at the sports bar downtown watching the game, had just ordered food. Probably only been there twenty minutes. The next thing I know Jo is standing beside me. When I asked her what she was doing here, she said she was just passing by and wanted to check in with me. Honestly a simple text would have worked if that’s what she wanted, not that it was needed. I thought she would leave after I introduced her to Sam and Cas, but she ended up sitting down on my lap and sticking around. Probably why they both left at half time. Benny stayed a little longer, even he made a comment to Jo about finding her own seat.
When I tried to make plans with Sam one night when she was closing the bar she insisted that I come in with her instead. Apparently there is some creepy guy who comes around. Hangs around outside some nights by her car. Makes her really nervous. I asked if she has called the cops, but she says he’s never around when they show up. Every night she has worked I’ve ended up going in with her. She told me how happy Bobby and Ellen were that I was around so nothing would happen. I guess that’s what you do when you are dating someone right. I don’t want her to think I’m useless.
I watch Y/N as the night goes on, it seems like she is trying to avoid me. I’m not really sure why she would be upset with me. Every once in a while I will see her glancing over, but she quickly looks away. I wonder what’s going on with her. Heading into the kitchen for another drink, Jo follows close behind.
“Here do you want a cookie?”
She tries to hand me some store bought thing, “No, thank you. Y/N, made me pie. I’m going to wait till we cut into those before I have dessert.”
“You aren’t dating her, why would she be making you something? I’m sure these cookies are better than some pie anyway.”
“She’s a good friend, she was being nice. Actually nothing tops…. that cookie, I’m sure.” If she wants me to eat that stupid cookie for some reason, I guess I will. I assume I never mentioned my love of pie to her.
When I’m alone mom comes over and asks about who the girl with me is. Before I can say anything Jo is right back here calling herself my girlfriend. When I finally get over that shock I manage to respond. “We have just gone out a few times.”
“A few times? Dean, honey we spend most nights together.” I didn’t realize we were counting all the nights I had to sit at the bar to keep the guy away as dates.
We have been together for two weeks, I didn’t realize it was going to be this much work. Looking around I don’t see Y/N anywhere. When Jess ushers everyone to the kitchen for cake, pie, ice cream and singing I still don’t see her. I ask Meg as soon as I get the chance, I guess she told Jess she wasn’t feeling well and went home.
I went to grab a slice of pie as mom was cutting everything and Jo pulled me away. “You don’t need that, I got us a piece of cake to share.”
“Cake, yea!” I’ll just grab some after she leaves.
Presents followed shortly. Most of mine were over the hill, prank gifts.
Jo gave me a ‘I have the best girlfriend’ shirt, and a picture of her, just awesome. Do I really have to wear this? The last gift I opened was from Y/N. I was again surprised after how I was avoiding her that she got me anything. That’s just the kind of person she is, always thinking about others. Opening it I found the blue ray box set of All Saint’s Day, The DVD set I had was ruined by Lisa one night when she got mad at me. I knew Y/N wasn’t a fan of the movies, but had offered to try and watch one of them with me when I came back from Kansas at Christmas. We never got to do that.
“My gift was your favorite right?” Jo asks, wrapping herself around my arm.
“Ah, yeah, yeah it was.” Giving her a smile I nodded my head not trusting to say anything else.
As the party wound down and everyone except for my parents, Sam and Jess, had left I couldn’t be happier to have everyone out of the house. Cas and Meg were some of the last to leave, usually they’d stick around but Cas said they needed to get going. I think Meg is mad at me for some reason. I don’t know if I’m frustrated or happy that Jo didn’t stick around to help clean up. Deciding on happy for a bit of peace, I go to grab me some pie. Looking at the table and in the refrigerator I can’t find it. “Hey, where is the rest of the pie?”
“Gone, it was very popular. I have Y/N’s dishes in the dishwasher. There is cake, the cookies your girlfriend bought and a little of the blueberry fluff Y/N made left.” Mom answers, I swear her tone changed when she said girlfriend. Nah, I must have been imagining it.
“Seriously, none left? I’ll take the blueberry, you can toss those cookies.”
Sam and Jess left shortly after and dad went up to bed, leaving me in the living room with mom. She sits across from me on the couch in silence. Something's coming I can just tell, ten bucks says it has to do with Jo.
“Well that was a surprise.”
“What’s that mom?”
“That girl being here, connected to your side.”
Ten bucks to me! “I asked her out a couple weeks ago. Her stepdad owns the shop I work at.”
“When you told me you had a date last week, I was expecting Y/N.”
“Yeah that’s not going to be happening.” She starts to say something else. “Just drop it mom. Please. You were wrong about her.” With that I went up to bed.
Your apartment that night
You came home from Dean’s house grabbing the container of ice cream from the freezer and turning on the television. You had no idea what you were even watching, you weren’t focused on that at all. How could you be so stupid to fall for a guy that you were never going to be good enough for. He only saw you as a friend, and that was just until he found a girlfriend. Now with the way he had been acting, you weren’t sure if he even needed you as a friend anymore. Putting the ice cream back in the freezer you were headed back to the couch when your eyes landed on Scooby. The plush was sitting on the table next to the couch. He was a big reminder of what you couldn’t have. Talking him into the office you set him in the closest with spare bedding.
“Sorry buddy I just can’t look at you right now.” Leaving the room you went back and curled up on the couch with your blanket, ending up crying yourself to sleep there.
A knock woke you the next morning, you were slightly disoriented from sleeping on the couch. Without thinking you headed for the door first, extremely surprised to see Mary Winchester on the other side.
“Morning, oh honey are you alright?”
“Hi Mary, yeah I’m okay. Are you here for me, or Sam and Jess?”
“I was bringing your dishes from yesterday back, and wanted to chat. We didn’t get much of a chance yesterday. Are you sure you’re alright? You look upset.”
Oh yeah, how could you forget all the crying you did last night. No wonder she’s worried about you. “Yeah, I’m sure. Come on in.”
Mary walked in ahead of you noticing the blankets on the couch like you had most likely slept there. Pushing them to one side you gestured for her to sit down. “Thank you for bringing those back, that was really nice of you. I don't have any coffee, but can I get you juice, milk, or water?”
“No, I’m fine but thank you.”
“Okay, I’m going to go brush my teeth real quick I’ll be back.” She chuckled as you rushed into your room. Quickly brushing your teeth and splashing water on your face you grabbed a different sweatshirt to throw over your tshirt and headed back out to the living room.
“Sorry to stop over unannounced, I didn’t mean to wake you up. John and I are leaving today and I wanted to talk to you first.”
“I was a little surprised to see but you’re fine, don’t worry about it.”
“I was surprised last night also, I had heard Dean was dating someone. Honestly I thought it was going to be you.”
Picking up a blanket to fold you used that as an excuse not to look at Mary. “Dean doesn’t see me like that. I was just a friend. Trust me Dean deserves a much better girl than me. I hope Jo can be that for him and make him happy.”
Mary wasn’t sure what to do with you, you were as negative about yourself as Dean. But she was pleased to hear that you worried about Dean’s happiness. “Wait what do you mean was a friend?”
“Things have been strained between us since New Year’s Eve for some reason. Then yesterday was the first I saw or talked to him since he started dating Jo. I don’t think he wants me as a friend anymore. Maybe that’s for the best right now. It really hurts to see him with Jo, or anyone else,” you finished your sentence in a whisper.
“Y/N, do you have feelings for Dean?”
Out of blankets to fold you looked for something else, finding nothing you sat down on the couch. “Yes, but I’m not going to do anything to mess up his relationship. I know I’m the only one with them.”
Coming over and giving you a hug Mary whispers, “I’m not sure what’s going on with Dean right now. I don’t ever want to hear you say you aren’t good enough again. My son would be very lucky to have you. Don’t write him off just yet.”
“Thank you Mary.” A short while later she left having to get back to Dean’s. You had a quiet rest of your Sunday at home, getting ready to start your work week. The week seemed to drag on a bit. You were really missing the random texts Dean used to send you. They always made your day a bit brighter.
Meg came over Friday with magazines notes, and a list of websites to go through. Apparently as maid of honor your duty tonight was to try and help her find the best wedding favors. Or at least narrow it down for her to show Cas. Jess joined you a short time later. You ordered a pizza and put in a movie while coming up with ideas for Meg. You might not get married or find Mr. Right, but you could live vicariously through Meg and Jess these next few months.
The wedding things put away you three were on the couch when Meg spoke up. “Cas said he barely talks to Dean anymore. Sees him even less.”
“Sam is so mad at him. They have made plans to get together or hang out and Dean either has to cancel because Jo needs him, or she ends up tagging along. When Dean asked him to come out tonight Sam told him he was too busy. He didn’t want to have to put up with her. I only met her at the party, but Sam’s not very fond of her. Apparently she has some stalker-like guy who hangs around the bar, and she needs Dean to be there whenever she’s working so the guy won't try anything.”
“Why not call the cops or get a restraining order? Cas is hoping it ends soon too. He says Dean has been acting really weird since he started seeing Jo.” Both turn to you for your opinion.
“Dean and I don’t talk anymore so I wouldn’t know.”
“Wait,” Jess sits up to look at you. “I knew things were a little strained between you. But you don’t even text anymore? You guys were always going back and forth.”
“Other than briefly on your birthday, we haven’t talked since he started dating her. It hasn’t been like it used to be between since New Year’s.” Getting up to head into the kitchen you pause to get your emotions back in check. It doesn’t matter one way or another to you if Dean keeps seeing her or not. When you can believe that lie you will be all good.

Hello my lovely dearies! I've had this in my drafts folder for a while. I hope that you enjoy some cute Suna family fluff!
Summary: Leaving Suna to be with Shikamaru wasn't an easy decision. A quiet moment with her brother reminds Temari about what matters most.

“Hey Tem, you ready?”
Temari turned to look at her brother who smiled brightly at her. Kankurou wasn’t often stunned speechless but this was one of those rare occasions.
“Well ...who knew that you could clean up so nicely.” He teased her not used to seeing her in fancy clothes and without a weapon. She probably had one somewhere. Seeing her in a sparkling white, elaborate kimono hit home that his big sister was getting married. She was a vision of excitement and joy.
“I hate you.” The smile on her face took the bite away from the statement.
“I know.”
“You look nice.” Temari complimented him smoothing down his hair. It reminded him of their younger days when she’d make sure that he was presentable before any meetings.
“I don’t know why you insisted that I couldn’t wear my face paint. I look like dad without it.” He was genuinely surprised by the request and initially called her a bridezilla. That earned him a few well deserved slaps to the face. Ultimately, he was smart enough to comply with her wishes. He was there bare-faced and it felt unsettling but there were very few things that she’d asked him to do for the wedding.
Her eyes were soft and contemplative. “I know you do. I think that for today, for this occasion. It’s okay.” He waited, staring at her confused.
“I know it’s silly but it's kind of like both you and dad are giving me away.”
Kankuro had to bite back a sob. He pulled her into a tight hug. “Damn it Tem, making me cry is really going to mess up my reputation.”
She chuckled returning the hug, hiding her own tears.
Temari knew that it was strange but there was a part of her that wished that her father was there. Unlike her brothers, she had a few hazy memories of life before the jinchuriki. When her mother was alive and her father wasn’t a monster.
Kankuro hated that he looked so much like the previous Kazekage. Seeing himself in the mirror oftentimes felt like a cruel reminder of his father and what he’d done. They’d all tried to work through the issues of their past but the scars remained. Regardless, if Temari wanted to feel like their father was there for her wedding, he’d happily do this for her.
“To be clear. I’m not giving you to Nara. If anything you’re just on loan. You sure you wanna go through with this? I could make a big scene, hide you in one of my puppets, leave you in the desert where no one could find you. It could be like a fun treasure hunt.”
She rolled her eyes, this wasn’t his first time he had some hair-brained idea to stop this wedding. “You moron. Shikamaru would find me.”
Kankurou shrugged. “He is as stubborn as you are, you’re probably right. However, say the word and Gaara and I will start an international incident and bring you right back here.”
She began to worry the pendant on the necklace Shikamaru had given her the night before. She’d been avoiding this conversation but it was now or never. “Are you two going to be okay without me?”
“You’re talking about the Kazekage and his adviser, of course, we’re not going to be okay. Being with the deer keeper is what you want so we will survive.”
She sighed before admitting her true feelings. “I feel like I’m being selfish, leaving you and Gaara, moving to Konoha.”
Kankurou waved off her concerns, not surprised by the admission. “It is totally selfish and it is completely the right thing to do. If we didn’t fight that war for you to be able to be with the person that you want, what was the point of all of it? You deserve whatever it is that will make you happy. And Nara makes you the happiest I’ve ever seen you. Nothing means more than that.”
She knew that she loved Shikamaru and wanted to be with him. Still, it was hard not to worry about everyone else in her life. This was never her dream. She wanted to be helpful and acknowledged by her brothers. Now, a happy life with Shikamaru was what she wanted.
Kankurou could see the hesitation in her eyes. His sister had always been selfless and loyal to the core. If he or Garra made a fuss she would cast aside her own happiness for them. He would never allow that to happen.
He wrapped a comforting arm around her. “Come on Tem. It’s like you always warned me when we were kids. There’s nowhere on Earth that the wind can’t reach. Even when you’re in Konoha you’ll be here. The work that you do will have far-reaching consequences here. You’re still our Princess.” Temari leaned into his side, thankful for the reassuring words. Her homeland and brothers would be okay. She raised them well.
“How’s everyone doing out there?”
“It’s a circus act. Tons of dignitaries and important people from all the great nations. Thanks for saving me from it. Garra is out there playing host. We could have probably sold tickets to this. It’s not every day that the Princess of Suna gets married.”
Initially, she and Shikamaru wanted a small wedding. They very quickly discovered that was never an option. Between their respective roles in their villages, the political ties, and familial ones this wedding was going to be an event. She hadn’t realized how many people were invested in their relationship. It represented not only the bringing together of two families but two nations. Their marriage ushered in a new era. Proof that peace had been achieved.
“How’s Shikamaru?”
Kankurou was ready with a snarky remark but just smiled reassuringly. “He’s ready to be married to you.”
He’d check on the groom as one final chance to play the protective brother role. To his credit, Shikamaru hadn’t been intimidated. Whether it was because he knew Kankuro only wanted the best for his sister or that he knew Temari would be more than capable of taking care of him herself, they bonded. Kankuro may joke but he knew that his sister had found the best partner for her. He recognized without a doubt that Shikamaru would love and protect his sister with all that he had.
“I’m ready to be married to him too.” They’d spent so much of their relationship apart, she was excited to finally wake up each day knowing that he was there.
“Stop it, you’re being gross and romantic. It’s weird.”
Temari rolled her eyes but was thankful that he could help calm her nerves. “It’s my wedding, what do you expect?”
He just chuckled giving her another affectionate hug.
“I love you, big sister.” For so long it had just been the two of them. Eventually, Garra completed their set. The famed sand siblings against the world. Their lives were much different now. Filled with so many people that they loved and stood by their sides. It was reassuring to know that at the core would always be the three of them. They weren’t losing anything their family was just growing.
“I love you too Kankuro.”
Surprising them both another set of arms enclosed around them.
“Garra?” He just nodded and they held onto each other tightly. Temari tried to subtly wipe away her tears. How many times had she held them together just like this in less happy circumstances? Now it was for something much different. Her brothers were holding her together.
‘Mother, father, I hope you can see how happy we are now.’
“Ready Temari?” Garra asked while both of her brothers reached a hand out to her.
Taking their hands in hers she nodded. “Yes.”

Temari held onto her new husband tightly. Shikamaru danced so awkwardly but she refused to let them end the night without slow dancing.
She smiled feeling his warm lips kiss her forehead.
“I love you wife.”
Wife...she was someone’s wife. Not just anyone’s wife. She was Shikamaru’s wife. So much for marriage being a drag.
“I love you too Shika.”
“Have you enjoyed everything?” It had been a busy and emotional day but she was finally married to the love of her life. For all that it was, it was perfect for them.
“It’s been a lot but something I’ll always cherish. Can you believe that we’re actually married?” She grinned, joy sparkling in her eyes.
“Honestly, no.” He chuckled and she couldn’t help but agree. They both probably would have remained single if they hadn’t met. How their wants in life had changed.
He placed a kiss against her palm. His lips meeting the cool metal of her ring the outward symbol of his love for her. “Still, I don’t think I’ve ever been happier. Thank you for marrying me.” She nodded resting her head against his chest overwhelmed by emotion and relief.
“Are you okay?” He knew all about her worries and anxieties about leaving home. There were moments that he was genuinely afraid that her love for Suna and her brothers would outweigh her need to be with him. He’d asked her for so much. For the rest of their days, he would prove that her decision was a wise one.
She gazed out at the crowd. The people that they loved the most in the world enjoying themselves, happy and carefree. Kankuro was celebrating with the best of them and had a pretty intense drinking contest against Killer B. He was now trying to convince Garra to let loose.
“Come on Garra! Your sister just got married, you should dance!!!!”
Temari just smiled to herself watching the scene play out. Her heart felt at peace seeing them there happy and at ease. She knew that no matter where she was she carried her brothers with her.
So she nodded settling back into her husband’s arms before reaching up to kiss him. They had all been through so much and could have lost everything time and again. In the end, she had everything that she wanted.
“Yes, I have you, we’ll be together. Everything is perfect.”

This story was born from the headcannon that Kankurou wears face paint because he looks so much like his dad. He hates it so the facepaint. I have a special place in my heart for him being a middle child as well lol I love the Sand Siblings so much!!!!
Maybe one day I’ll actually write out ShikaTema’s wedding.

Warnings: A very distressed and angry Reader, sexual innuendos, cussing, fluff at the end.
A/N: This was honestly so much fun to write, I really hope that you guys like it too. And also, in case you couldn’t tell by now, the italicized words are flashbacks. Enjoy!
Y/N’s neck started to hurt from being hunched over her laptop for so long. The couch cushion underneath her butt began to get uncomfortable as well, but she was too concentrated on the numerous books, magazines, and checklists in front of her to really care.
Her computer’s battery charge was nearing 30%, and she knew that it wouldn’t be healthy to stay on it any longer. But each time she told herself that she would go back to bed, there was always one more thing to take care of. One more thing to research, pick out, plan, and organize for this damn wedding.
A knock on her and Steve’s bedroom door startled Y/N as she was laying on their bed, flipping through a bridal magazine.
“Ya?” The girl asked, not even looking up from the various chair covers on her page.
Natasha took a peak inside of the room before slowly opening the door, shaking her head at the scene in front of her. “J.A.R.V.I.S. called you to come down, why didn’t you answer?”
“I’m busy.” Y/N answered as she circled yet another item in the thin book.
“Well, it’s lunch time. The whole team is waiting for you, come on.” The assassin cocked her head in the direction of the elevator, urging her friend to get up.
“Not hungry.” The H/C haired girl told her blankly.
Natasha shook her head, stepping farther into the bedroom. “Ya? Then take it up with Steve. He says that you haven’t eaten all day, and he wants you down there. Now.”
Y/N rolled her eyes, switching from laying on her stomach to laying on her back. She held the magazine above her face, completely blocking out Natasha. “Tell him that I can take care of myself, please and thank you.”
“Well clearly not.” The red head stated, crossing her arms over her chest.
The actress finally sat up, closing her book in front of her. “What’s that support to mean?”
“Come on, N/N, look at you.” Natasha scolded. “You are obsessed with planning an event that’s like a year away!”
Y/N pouted, looking away from her friend. “10 and a half months.” She corrected under her breath.
“Oh, whatever!”
3:07 in the morning, her laptop read.
Nope, wait.
3:08 now.
Steve would most likely be up in about three hours, ready to go for his usual morning run. All the while Y/N continued to search through countless websites about dresses, and plate settings, and centrepieces galore.
She knew that she was being irrational. That it didn’t really matter whether the bridesmaid dresses had a halter neckline or a v-neck, whether the invitations were printed on pieces of white or cream coloured cardstock.
But this was something that she had been looking forward to ever since she was a little girl. Having a great big wedding filled with her amazing friends and family; a handsome groom waiting for her at the end of the aisle. And now she had all of those things. A group of people in her life that she adored more than anything, and a fiancé who she loved with her whole entire heart.
Y/N had all of the tools, all of the resources and support systems in order to pull off the fantastic wedding that’s she’s always wanted. But deep down, she knew that she should’ve been treating that support system better in the process.
“Alright,” Steve spoke as he sat down at the kitchen table, “what do you got for me?”
It having been about nine months until the big day, it was finally time for the couple to be testing out cake flavours. Y/N had ordered about twenty different kinds for them to try, and she could’ve not been more excited to get a taste of each and every one.
The girl put her hand on the refrigerator handle, giving her man a smile. “A ton of different options.” She opened up the fridge with a smile. “Let’s just say, you should be thankful for your fast metabolis-“
“What?” Steve asked, seeing Y/N frozen in her spot.
The girl’s eyebrows began to furrow as she went up and down, searching through all the levels of the Avengers shared fridge. “Where’s the rest of my cake?”
“Huh?”
“My cake.” She faced him, placing her hands on her hips. “Half of it’s gone.”
Steve stood up from his chair. “That’s impossible.” He met her at the refrigerator and began to look through it himself, only to see nothing as well.
Just in that moment, Tony and Bruce had walked into the kitchen, looking for a mid-science snack.
“Hey, guys, have you seen the other half of our cake samples?” The Captain questioned them, placing a hand on Y/N’s shoulder in hopes to calm her down.
Banner gave the group a shrug and turned to Tony, who looked pretty suspiciously guilty himself.
“What did they look like?” The billionaire asked, avoiding eye contact from the unhappy pair.
“Oh, you know,” the girl ground her teeth, beginning to get a little frustrated, “cake. Cut up into little. Sample. Sizes.”
“Hmm.” Tony pretended to ponder, even scratching his chin for show. “Well, I, uh...”
“Stark?” The Captain interjected, wanting to get to the bottom of this. He could tell that Y/N was getting angry, and he did not want this to cause another ‘episode’.
“I... may have eaten them.” Tony admitted, crossing his arms over his chest in uncharacteristic nervousness. But no one in the whole Tower could even blame him for being frightened. Scary bride Y/N was a very real thing.
“You what?” The girl fumed, shrugging away Steve’s hand and stepping a bit closer to Tony.
The brunette man gulped. “I’m sorry, N/N. I didn’t know that they were yours.”
“Oh. So the large white label that said ‘Wedding Cake Samples’ wasn’t a big enough hint to for you, Mr. Genius?”
The other scientist cleared his throat awkwardly. “I’m just going to go.”
“No.” The actress told Bruce, pointing a stern finger at him. “You stay right there, young man.”
Banner furrowed his eyebrows. “‘Young man’? You’re the youngest one here!”
Y/N gave him a pointed look; one that urged him to shut his mouth right away, one that was something a mother would only give to her misbehaving child.
“Do you realize, Tony, how important those little pieces of cake were to me?” She asked, looking the man dead in the eye.
“Look, I really do apologize, Y/N. I’ll just buy you guys new ones. You’ll have them within a couple of days!” He told her in hopes to lighten her spirits.
The Captain just stood there, not daring to get in the middle of this. Sure, he could get her on her knees with a couple of dirty words. And when he used his low sexy voice, she was practically putty in his hands. But right now in this moment, his usually delightful girl was scaring him shitless.
“That’s the problem, dumbass!” Y/N shouted, throwing her hands up in the air. “The baker who made these things is going to be in France for the next month and a half for some fancy cooking course!”
“Oh.”
“Ya.” She said in a not so polite way. “Are you just trying to piss me off? Is that it?”
“Wha-No! I swear, it was a simple mistake.” Tony told her. “Why were they even in the common fridge anyways?”
“Because the one on our floor wasn’t big enough to fit the whole tray. I never thought that one of you dummies would eat half the fucking pieces!”
“Woah!” Steve interposed, making the girl turn towards him. “Watch your mouth.”
“Oh shut up!” Y/N yelled back, sticking her tongue out at her fiancé. Him telling her to watch her mouth would usually turn her on in the bedroom, but now was really not the time.
“Y/N, you need to calm down.” The billionaire stated.
“Are you trying to not get invited to our wedding?” The furious girl questioned, crossing her arms over her chest. “Is that it? Because I will uninvite you so fast, Tony Stark.”
“I-I’m one of Steve’s groomsmen.” The man spoke with a confused look on his face. “You really can’t-“
“You know what? I don’t even care anymore, finish the whole goddamn tray if you want.” Y/N hissed. “I’m going to my room, and nobody is allowed in!” She stomped past Bruce and Tony and headed her way towards the elevator.
The three men sighed, seeing her click the button multiple times in frustration before finally marching on.
Once the doors were completely closed, so he knew that she couldn’t hear him, Tony let out a low whistle. “Good luck with that one, Cap.”
Gold napkin rings would look just beautiful with the theme of their wedding, Y/N thought to herself. But then again, the cutlery was silver, and it would definitely look silly together. Though, she could also just get gold cutlery. Too many decisions to make and too little time.
With her laptop’s battery nearing a measly 10%, she knew that she should just wrap things up for the night and finally join Steve back in their bed.
But for some reason, she couldn’t. It’s as if she was addicted. Each and every minute of her spare time was dedicated to planning this wedding. And unfortunately, anybody who tried to mess with that, did not come out with a smile.
“Can you please pass me the salad, Maria?” Pepper asked as the whole gang sat around the huge dining room table.
It was Saturday night and all of the Avengers had agreed to not make any other plans, choosing to eat dinner together instead. Meals as a whole were great for team bonding, and mostly everybody enjoyed each other’s company.
“Where’s my doll?” Steve questioned as he was the last one to arrive in the upstairs dining room. The man glanced around the table, only to see her usual spot empty.
“The little firecracker?” Tony spoke before pointing to the hallway opposite of the one that Steve walked in from. “Over there, talking some poor person’s ear off.”
The Captain glanced to where Stark had pointed and sighed at the scene in front of him. There his girl was, standing with her phone to her ear and the other hand on her hip. She was pacing around restlessly, and the look on her face was one of pure annoyance.
Steve slowly walked closer, not wanting to scare her, and placed both of his hands on her shoulders lightly. “Y/N, baby?”
“Ya, ya, just give me a second, Steve.” She continued with her call. “Now this is where I’m confused, Miss Jessica. You told me that they could be ready by July 18th. It is only January the 10th. Why do you need six whole months to make 80 personalized jewellery boxes?”
Steve raised his eyebrows, turning to the team with a ‘help me’ look.
“80 women is not that many!” Y/N continued, completely ignoring him. “What do you mean that you have ‘too many customers’? I ordered first, did I not?” She continued to walk back and forth in the corridor, as the rest of her friends ate their meal. “Well then you know what? I might just have to contact another company and get them to do this task for me, since you obviously can’t. Good day, ma’am.” The girl hung up her cellphone before shoving it in her pocket and running a hand down her face. “Shit.”
“You okay, darling?” Steve asked concernedly.
“I’m pissed off, that’s what I am.” She marched over to the dinner table and sat down in her respective spot; Steve taking his own to the right of her. “Pass me the chicken, please.”
Rhodes then held the dish out in front of her, watching as she angrily placed the chicken parmesan on her plate and messily cut it up.
“Thanks.” She puffed before just ultimately giving up on her food, slouching back in her chair.
“Sweetie, do you want to talk about what happened?” Natasha spoke up, something that the rest of the table was too scared to do. Nobody wanted to get yelled at.
“Well,” Y/N chuckled dryly, “remember those little jewellery boxes that we were looking at together? The ones that we can get engraved with everybody’s first name on them?”
Natasha, Pepper, and Maria nodded, having been there when Y/N was picking them out.
“Apparently the lady can’t make 80 of them in time for the bridal shower.” The passed off girl continued. “So either we reschedule it, or get something else.” She shook her head in frustration, absentmindedly balling her hands into fists.
“I’ll just get some Stark Industries workers to make them.” Tony said through a mouth full of food. “Problem solved.”
“Wait,” a look of pure bliss made it’s way on to Y/N’s previously mad face, “are you serious? They can do that for me?”
The billionaire just shrugged like it was no big deal. “They’re electrical and mechanical engineers. I’m pretty sure that they can handle a little woodshop.”
“Oh my goodness, thank you!” Y/N jumped up from her seat and ran around the table, giving Tony a big hug as he was still in his seat. “Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!” She gave him a kiss on the cheek, suddenly feeling so much happier than she was before.
“Woah.” Clint chuckled. “Talk about a mood swing. Guess that it’s somebody’s time of the month.”
The whole room went silent.
“What did you just say to me?” Y/N asked slowly while nobody else in the room even dared to make a sound.
“I-It was just a joke.” Clint told her. “M’sorry, N/N.”
“It’s not my time of the month, okay? I’m just really stressed.” The girl explained, wrapping her arms around herself in embarrassment.
“We know, love.” Steve assured with a small smile. “Are you going to sit down and eat now, or am I ‘gonna have to airplane the food into your mouth?” He joked, but he could tell that Y/N was not in the mood.
“Actually, I guess that I’m going to have to take care of my ‘time of the month’.” She said with air quotes. “Have a nice night.” And with that she stormed out of the dinning room, leaving an awkward silence in her wake.
“Not pointing any fingers,” Maria spoke up after a long minute, “but that was totally your fault, Clint.”
“Babydoll?”
A voice broke Y/N out of her wedding day trance, making her turn towards the raspy sound.
“Steve? What we you doing awake?”
The man stood against the wall in a t-shirt, hoodie, and sweatpants; a typical pyjama set for a cold February night. The outfit made him look every bit like a big snuggly teddy bear, and Y/N would usually just want to cuddle into his chest, but right now she was too preoccupied.
“I reached out for you, but all that I was met with was cold sheets.” Steve told her, a frown very much evident on his handsome face. “But the real question is, what are you doing awake?”
“Couldn’t sleep.” She shrugged before turning back to her bouquet arrangement website.
“Hm, I see.” The man nodded, walking over to join her on their floor’s couch. “Actually, uh, before I realized that you were gone, I was having a dream.”
“Cool.” Y/N said, not even sparing him a glance. “What about?”
“Well,” Steve cocked his head, trying to put on his sexiest voice, “not much, not much. Just me fucking you so hard that you can’t even walk tomorrow.”
The girl didn’t even flinch. “Nice.”
“Ya.” He sighed, trying to get her to show any kind of emotion. Ever since they had gotten engaged, Y/N has been acting way differently. Steve was determined to break her out of this shell. “Did I ever tell you how much I like your new haircut, baby?”
“Yup.” She replied. “Multiple times.”
“Well, it’s very pretty.” He added.
Y/N continued to scroll through her website, making little check marks on her clipboard every now and then. “It’s just a couple of inches off the bottom.”
Steve smirked. “You know, if you come back to bed with me, I can be more than just a couple of inches into your bottom.”
The girl rolled her eyes and shook her head, beginning to get really annoyed with him. “Don’t even need anal right now, Steve. You’re already being a pain in my ass.”
“Wow.” He lightly chuckled, still attempting to turn on the charm. “What’s with the snarky attitude, baby girl? Do I need to take you over my knee again?”
“For the love of God, no, Steve.” Y/N fumed as she stood up from her seat, finally having enough of this. “Do you know what you need to do? What you need to do is go back to bed and leave me alone!”
Steve gulped at her coldness. This was Y/N, his girl. Within the two years and nine months that she had known him, she had never talked to him like that. Ever.
“I-I oh, goodness, Steve. I’m sorry, honey.” She saw water in his eyes and began to cry as well, all of the stress from last several months finally releasing itself. “So sorry, I didn’t mean that.”
The man stood up too and wrapped his thick arms around his fiancée, slowly bringing her closer to his warm chest. “It’s okay, doll.”
“No, no, it’s not okay.” Y/N began to sob while her hands grasped onto Steve’s muscular body, never ever wanting to let go. “You don’t deserve to be tr-tr-treated like that.” She sniffled.
“No, N/N, it’s fine. You’re so good to me, sweetheart.” He insisted, soothingly rubbing the expanse of her back with his hands.
“You’re so good to me.” Y/N told him, taking her face out of his chest and looking him in the eye. “All of you are. I-I’ve been so horrible lately. I yelled at Tony, Nat, Bruce, Pepper, Clint, Maria, Rhodes, my cousin, my mom, my other cousin, those three guys in the mail room that accidentally sent my package to the wrong floor, and now you. I’ve been a complete bitch.”
“Hey, no. I don’t ever want to hear you call yourself that again.” Steve shook his head. “You’ve just been under a lot of pressure lately.”
“It doesn’t excuse my actions.” She said before wiping her face of any leftover tears. “You guys are always under a lot of pressure, and you never take it out on other people.”
“No, I just take it out on Tony’s punching bags.” The man said, making Y/N’s lips quirk up just the slightest bit. “Is that a smile I see?”
The girl bit her lip sheepishly. “Maybe.”
“Think that I can give you another one?” Steve raised an eyebrow, a plotting look taking over his face. “I think that I can.” His hands slowly made their way down her sides, fingertips ghosting over the dip of her waist. “Maybe with just a little…”
“Stevie-Ah!” Y/N began to giggle at the feel of him tickling her. “O-O-Oh my god, Ste-e-e-eve! Sto-Stop it!” Her giggles soon turned into cackles, and she was squatted so low in hopes to get away, that her back was almost touching the carpet.
“See, there’s my girl.” The Captain beamed, finally finished with his attack. “You promise to stay happy now?”
Y/N nodded, still out of breath. “Only if you help me get off the floor.”
“Whatever you say, N/N.” And with that he scooped her off of the floor, beginning to carry her into their bedroom bridal style.
“Honey.” The girl said with a laugh.
“What?” Steve shrugged. “I’m just practicing for our wedding night.”
Y/N snuggled further into his body, tucking her face into the crook of his neck. “M’kay.”
“Looks like somebody is tired after all.” He pointed out, settling her on their shared bed and pulling the covers up over her body.
“I guess so.”
“I’ll tell you what,” Steve spoke, walking around to the other side and getting underneath the covers as well, “right now, we’ll go to sleep. But first thing tomorrow, you and I are hiring a wedding planner.”
Y/N was too fast asleep to even hear him, her dreams filled not with the wedding itself, but with the man that she was sharing it with.
And oh what a wonderful dream it was; not one bridal magazine in sight.

I can’t believe I agreed to try this on. You stared at the multiple copies of yourself in the full body mirrors as you cringed at the multi-angle view of the monstrocity masquerading as a wedding dress. It was far too floofy, with enough taffeta layers that made you think that you were a pure white pastry. And the bodice was far too tight, even for just a try out. You swore your lower ribs were being crushed as the lady pulled the laces of the corset, and it took all your willpower to not cry out.
“There we go…” she said, triumphantly, and she twirled you around so you could get a good look at every side of this disaster. “We may have to let out the bust a bit, and a little at the waist, but you look stunning!”
I look like a goddamn jellyfish, was all you could think.
You waddled out, attempting to not trip over the fluff that obscured your legs, to face the duo that eagerly waited for your appearance. Surely they would find it as ridiculous as you did! But the look on your mother’s face was not encouraging.
“OH MY GAWD,” she said with tears in her eyes…”You are absolutely gorgeous! The dress suits you perfectly!”
“I dunno,” you said, attempting to be diplomatic. Last thing you wanted to do is be known as a bridezilla, “I’m not sure it fits me”
“Well, of course,” she crooned, “It’ll need some alterations, but you’ll feel like a princess walking down the aisle with it. The congregation will love it!” She was obviously taking the word ‘fit’ literally. “And what do you think, Sarah?”
You silently prayed that your best friend would at least have the gumption to say something. “It looks nice….” she started politely “but perhaps it could use a splash of colour?”
Your mother’s eyes widened, and she clapped her hands together. “Yes! A light pink would really bring out the colour of the diamonds on your engagement ring.” She paused, pinched up her face and thought for a second, chin in her hand. “Ah! Sequins! You need more sequins! It’s all the rage wedding this season.” She turned to the saleswoman. “You MUST have something like that!”
The saleswoman, surprisingly, was a bit hesitant, considering she was about to make a major commision off this sale gently prodded, “I’m sure the bride would love to add to the suggestions.”
“I was hoping,” you started, “That it would be a bit less ostentatious. Something a bit more simple, less fancy”
“Nonsense,” your mother interrupted, “This is YOUR day, you need to go all out! With luck, this will be the most important day of your life.” She turned back to the saleswoman. “Money is no object, but my daughter MUST look her best for her special day.”
The lady turned to you, to get your approval, and you wanted to say something, anything to get out of wearing yet another hideous top designer couture, but that excited look on your mother’s face just made you hesitate. You couldn’t bear to see her face fall as you told her what you really thought of that dress. (Pink? Your mother had to know you hadn’t liked that colour since elementary school!) And how sequins just didn’t suit you at all, you preferred the slender, simple backless gown with the green sash at the waist, that stood at the front window. (The sneer your mother gave at it when you suggested it was enough to shut your mouth.)
But it was late afternoon, and you’d tried almost a dozen dresses, and frankly, you were tired. And when you really thought about it, you’d only be wearing the dress for one day. Perhaps your reticence was unreasonable. After all, your mother had worn three different wedding dresses throughout her lifetime, and perhaps she knew what was best for you, maybe you should just trust her.
“Very well…” you said, and your mom giddily followed the sales lady to the back. You flopped down inelegantly on the cushioned sofa, and sighed.
“You know,” Sarah volunteered hesitantly, “this is supposed to be YOUR day, you shouldn’t be such a doormat”
“I’m not a doormat!” you hissed, attempting to not cause a scene.
“Suuuure you’re not,” she said rolling her eyes, before looking back at the dress in the window. “I love you to bits, but man, you gotta stand up for yourself. You keep letting your parents push you around, it’s not gonna ease up, no matter how much you give in to their demands”
You cracked, just a little bit, Sarah had a point. You spent your entire life trying to live up to their standards, and yet, it was never enough. There was always a way you were supposed to dress, a business you should look into, a new contact you should make, a man you were supposed to marry-. You decided that you would let that train of thought leave the station.
“I can’t,” you said quietly, looking down at your hands resting in floofiness that was your lap, “they’re expecting so much of me, I’d be letting them down right now”
“Well,” Sarah countered, “you stood up to them before, when you said you wanted to go into Marine Biology all those years ago. I remember the horrific arguments you had with both of them, you even stayed with me for a few weeks until they gave in. And look where it got you, a Doctorate in your dream subject, and the ability to do the thing you really love; explore the ocean!”
“That’s because I felt passionate about it, Sarah”
“So does that mean you aren't passionate about this wedding?”
You clammed up, any words in response died on your tongue. Sarah, despite her veneer of benign cluelessness, was an expert at cutting straight to the matter. Did you feel passionate about this wedding? Did you even love Fredrick? Would you ever love him?
“We’re baaaack!” your mother’s voice smothered your thoughts and doubts as she and the saleslady brought out a dress that quite possibly was even worse looking than the one you were currently wearing. You gave one last longing glance at the the beautiful dress in the showcase, and allowed yourself to be shepherded back into the dressing room, leaving behind a beaming mother, and a resigned best friend.

The sun was low in the sky as you finally left your mother’s place, after wishing her and your newest step-father a good night. Sarah gave you a tight hug, with a concerned remark that no matter what you chose, she’d have your back. You knew that you were hurting her by going through with this, but it would work out in the end, you knew it.
You sat back in your driver's seat, pausing after starting the engine. It had been a draining day, and all you wanted to do was to have a bath, wrap yourself up in some towels, make yourself and Vergil some food, and just chill. Despite all the stress from the wedding plans, and the the steep learning curve of taking up the reins of your father’s company, talking with Vergil about anything, and yet nothing at the same time calmed you down immensely. You always looked forward to those times.
But first, one last errand before you went home. You told your wireless system to make the call, and as you pulled out of your mother’s driveway, the drone of a dial tone reverberated in the car. A few rings, and your father’s voice answered.
“Ah, how’s my favourite girl doing? Did you pick your dream dress out?” he asked cheerfully.
“Yes, mom helped pick it out it’s a-”
Your dad interrupted you, “Now now, don’t tell me, I just want it to be a surprise! Just have your mother send me the bill, I’ll work out the payment” You breathed a sigh of relief, you didn’t really feel like somehow describing the abomination that took the guise of a dress in a somewhat positive light.
“Listen, sweetheart” your father said, “I’ll be out for a few weeks on business, accompanying your future father-in-law on a trip to check up on Fredrick, and maybe sign some more deals, so no ‘Take Your Daughter to Work Days’ for a while. You got any concerns or any requests, you’ll have to call me. Me and Mr. Sombra are on the cusp of a deal that will be mutually beneficial for both our family, and Fredrick’s.” Another sigh of relief, one less stress point to deal with.
Suddenly, in the background, you heard a popping sound, which sounded like fireworks, but the rhythm sounded off, it sounded like… Gunshots!?
“Dad!” you barked out worriedly, “Is everything alright?”
Your father’s response was cheerful and reassuring, “Ah it’s alright, I’m at the gun range, Mr. Sombra decided we should get to know each other better with our prospective hobbies while we work on this deal. I think I might be getting the hang of this gun thing, although I’ve gotta resist the urge to close one eye to do so. Tomorrow, I get to show him the joys of breadmaking!” Your dad sounded as giddy as a schoolgirl to share his passion project, you couldn’t help but smile. “Well, I gotta go, your future father-in-law is begging me to try out this new pistol he purchased!”
“Okay, say Hello to Fredrick when you see him! And have a safe trip!” you chirped, “I love you, dad”
“Love you too, sweetheart, bye!” As the phone call ended, you began to relax. Sure, today had been a draining day, but your father’s upbeat energy perked you up. Perhaps your conversation with Vergil wouldn't be so dour today. You sensed he had some issue with your father, but you never brought it up, simply because you never wanted to see him as he was when you first met. You wanted him, if not happy, at least content and untroubled. You hummed a familiar tune for the rest of the way home, but no matter how hard you thought about it, you couldn’t figure out where you heard it from.
As you pulled into your driveway, the cheerful mood skidded to a halt. Another, unfamiliar vehicle was parked beside your usual parking space, but nobody was seen. You tensed up. You hadn’t expected any guests, and to just get on the property, you had to have a way of getting past the security gate.
Cautiously, you got out. It couldn’t possibly be a burglary, what idiot would park in front of your home while looting the place? But still, you had your fears, not for your property, nor for even yourself. What about Vergil?
Your stomach dropped as your front door opened, and out came a slimy slug of a man...Doctor Griffon. He was practically beaming, whistling a jaunty tune, with a regular sized briefcase in his left hand, and a long narrow briefcase in his right. To your untrained eye, it looked similar to a gun case, and your blood ran cold.
The doctor finally noticed you after he locked the door, (how the hell had he gotten a hold of the keys?) and smiled, totally oblivious of what he was doing to your emotions.
“Ah, My dear! I was not expecting your arrival! I must say, you’ve done a marvelous job on rehabilitating Angelo. I was worried it was languishing in captivity, but you’ve managed to bring it’s original colour back, and it’s gained some weight, you must tell me your feeding schedule-”
“Cut the crap, Doctor. How the hell did you get a key? What the fuck are you doing here? ” you hissed.
The man deflected your anger as if it was a pesky fly. “Your father gave me permission and access to your home, to take care of the creature, in case of emergencies, and I deemed it an emergency, since you’ve missed the deadline to deliver your monthly report for the past three days.”
Wait what?
You quickly checked your phone. Sure enough, the asshole was right, in the hubbub of bridal shows, cake tastings, and now wedding dress try-outs, you had missed the deadline. It was hard to resist the urge to slap yourself for this stupidity.
“I’m not sure how you managed to wrangle the creature without it’s leash,” he glanced down at the long briefcase, “But I’m highly impressed you were able to. I’ll admit I thought you were just faking the measurements…”
“You could have called me, let me know, I could have gotten you the information you so desperately needed. Instead of breaking into my place without my damn permission.”
The bastard dangled a ring with a single key on it, in front of you. “Like I said, this was given to me by your father, with permission to-”
You didn’t let him finish as you yanked the key out of his grasp. “Consider the permission rescinded.” you said curtly. He attempted to speak again, but you wouldn’t let him. “Talk to my father if you want to contest this, because I’m not letting you set foot on my property again. Am I making myself clear? Your voice lowered dangerously, your adrenaline pumping through your system, the key clenched so tight in your fist, you could feel the start of it cutting into your palm. Immediately, your brain went into overdrive, preparing on how to react should Griffon try to take the key back, punch him in the face, or in the gut, or a kick to the groin?
But you needn’t have worried. The doctor, despite his glares, decided to back off. No doubt he would attempt to contact your father, but both of you knew who your dad would side with.
“Very well,” he glowered, “but if anything happens to the specimen,” the urge to punch him reached a deafening crescendo, “I will hold you personally responsible.” And with a huff, he shouldered past you, got in his car, and with a slamming of a door, he peeled out, going towards your family’s central warehouse building.
You let out a ragged breath, The next time I see him, I’m going to skewer the bastard, you thought viciously. The previously relaxed feeling that you had worked so hard to build melted like snow under a blowtorch. How could you have been so fucking stupid? You had spent the last decade turning assignments on time for your doctorate, why did you forget now? All your efforts at gaining Vergil’s trust had just been shattered because of your negligence…
Vergil…
You ran towards the door, clumsily failing to get the key into the hole, and spreading blood from your newly cut hand all over the handle. It could wait until later, you had to check up on the merman, that was your priority right now.
After a few tries, you got the door unlocked, and you rushed inside, tossing your belongings everywhere in your haste to get to the aquarium. “Vergil!” you called out, but no response reverberated in your head. You plastered yourself against the glass, trying desperately to find him. And after a few moments of panicked searching, you saw him, hidden behind his usual rock where he usually spent time alone. But now he was unmoving, curled up in a defensive ball, his eyes vacant, staring at nothing at all. “Vergil!” you yelled, but no response. What had that asshole done to him? Did it have something to do with that leash? What if he’s hurt?
Without quite thinking, you clambered onto the platform, and after a moment to gather your breath, you dove in.
The cut on your palm protested at the salt water, but you didn’t care, as you swam to the far rock. You cautiously approached Vergil, unable to talk to him with your weak human lungs, which already started to burn. Vergil remained staring straight ahead, his eyes transfixed on nothing, unaware of your presence. So, you did the only thing you could, and placed your hand on his shoulder and gave it a gentle shake. Come back to me, Vergil.
And then, without warning, both his hands shot out, grabbing your shoulders in a vise tight grip. In your surprise, you let out the last of your air still in your lungs, the bubbles rising to the surface. You went to follow, but Vergil wouldn’t let go. Panic forming, you started struggling, but the merman was as solid as the rock he hid behind, and wouldn’t budge. And what was worse, the vacant look in his eyes was still there, he had no idea he was drowning you. For a split second, you thought about trying to hit him, to knock some awareness back into him, but that would make it worse. So, as you felt your body slowly shutting down, conserving all the oxygen it had for only vital functions, you did the only thing you could think of.
You softly caressed his cheek, hoping the gentle touch might, possibly be the thing he needed to snap him out of his catatonia.
To your relief, it seemed to work, and his eyes focused on you in confusion. All you could do was keep your eyes focused on his, as everything besides his face became a dark blur. Panic filled his face, and you were aware of rushing water, and then the feeling of cool air on your cheeks. Spluttering and coughing, you gulped up the air, as Vergil gently guided you to the platform and helped you clumsily clamber up onto it.
“Forgive me…” you heard him murmur as you stood on all fours, still attempting to catch your breath. “Had it been a few moments later, I would have....”
“Not your fault, Vergil '' you gasped out, finally able to regulate your breathing, as the pounding of blood in your head slowed down, as the adrenaline stopped flowing. “This was all me, I should have sent in that report, so ‘he’,” you spat out the word in hatred, so Vergil knew who you were talking about, “wouldn’t have shown up. But I was so. Fucking. Forgetful. You felt like crying, but you kept it locked inside. You both didn’t need the additional emotions tonight.
You felt a soft hand placed upon yours, and you looked into his grey eyes, softness replacing the blankness that had been there a few moments ago. “It appears,” he said with a gentle smile, “we are at an impasse to who’s at fault. Shall we agree that we have both done the other ill?”
“I suppose we could do that,” as you used your hand to brush your soaked hair out of your eyes. Suddenly Vergil frowned, he gently turned your other hand around, revealing an angry red gash.
“Did I…?” he started to say, but you shushed him.
“No, that was me, when I was confronting the Doctor” Vergil stiffened at the mention, and you sought to assure him “Vergil, I swear I will never let him near you again, if I have to fucking kill him.” He looked at you, as if he was searching for sincerity on your face, before nodding in gratitude.. You had never been so serious about something in your life. Vergil didn’t deserve the treatment you could only guess that he’d been through. If you could have chucked him into the ocean this very second, you would have. But despite everything, he still answered ‘no’ to your question of freedom every morning, so you respected his wishes.
“You should get yourself dry,” he said, “you humans tend to get sick when you remain wet for a period of time.”
You got up, wincing at the pain from your palm and you pushed up off of the wood, “I’ll be back soon, and I’ll bring you supper, any requests?”
“Not particularly, anything you wish shall be fine” he answered, his voice unexpectedly soft. You gave him a reassuring smile, and descended the stairs.

You sat in a warm fluffy pj’s your hair still damp, but otherwise fully dry. You’d made his favourite for him, ramen, with some slices of leftover pork chop, which he slurped up greedily. He was still getting the hang of using utensils, but he was doing so much better. You snacked on a turkey sandwich, not feeling the urge to prepare anything more strenuous than that. Your hand had stopped bleeding, but still ached, and although it looked bad, with some ointment and some bandages, it would be more annoying than anything. You pulled up your medical supplies to tend with it, but then heard Vergil’s voice.
“May I?” and after giving your approval, he gently took your hand, amazed as you spread the cream over the cut. He frowned, as he watched. “I thought it would have healed somewhat by now, if not as quickly as us”
“Nah,” you shrugged with your free shoulder as you reached for the wrapping that would keep it protected while you slept. “Although cuts on our hands heal pretty fast compared to other parts of our bodies, we just need to keep it covered so it has a chance to heal. It’s painful, but it’s not like a wound to the gut or anything.”
You began to wrap your hand, but somehow, Vergil took over, gently winding the cloth around your palm, taking care not to press down on the wound. The way his fingers softly grazed your knuckles.... You suddenly felt slightly warm at the touch.
“May I ask you a favour?” he asked as you placed the supplies back in the kit.
“Sure”
“Will you sleep here?” he said, tapping the platform. You paused, and watched to see if he was making a joke, but his face was serious. “It would put my mind at ease, after all that has transpired today” he requested earnestly.
“Of course” you responded, and relief flooded his face. “I’ll just have to get some more blankets and such, sleeping on bare wood is rather uncomfortable.”
So, several hours later, you were in a nest of blankets and pillows, lulled by the sound of water, on the cusp of sleep, when you heard the sound of water sloshing gently, and a cool hand caressing your cheek. Strangely, it didn’t yank you back into wakefulness, but instead calmed you down even more.
The last thing you heard before sleep truly claimed you was Vergil’s voice, barely a whisper.
“Sleep well, Sifa”

My Journey as a Maid of Honor
Since summer is approaching us, do you know what that means? Wedding Season. A whole a lot of spending your money on clothes that you will probably never wear again, OH and dealing with bridezillas.
Last year of November, my best friend surprised me and some of her other friends by popping the BIG QUESTION, “Will you be my Maid of Honor.” Obviously, I was going to say yes without realizing the amount of annoyance I was about to be faced with. With joy I accepted her box full of treats she gave as a present to me. In the box were pictures from our childhood, a PJ set, a wine bottle, a hand mirror, and a heart filled personalized card. In the card she wrote why she chose me to me the maid of honor, and the date of the wedding which was only revealed to me. Obviously, it was on the same weekend of my birthday. But oh well, it’s just a birthday, I guess…
Two weeks later, my other best friend announced that she would have her wedding 3 weeks before my other best friend (end of June), and my cousin announced that she would have her wedding the same weekend as well.
Tip: Breath and create a calendar with all the main events
So just in case you feel lost, let me draw this out for you. I am a Maid of Honor for a wedding taking place on July 20thand a bridesmaid for a wedding taking place on June 30thand on the same weekend my cousin is getting married.
Now the problem is not the actual weddings, is it the 10 events which happen leading up to the wedding. As well as the thousands of dollars that are spent on clothing, hair and makeup. Being Indian means, we have a lot of traditions and celebrations, which don’t get me wrong, are tons of fun. It involves a whole a lot of color, beautiful outfits, outrageous décor, a lot of dancing and BOOZE. The image below is an example of how décor typically looks like at an Indian wedding ceremony.
Tip: Always create a budget break-down for yourself in terms of how much you will end up spending for each event. This includes the cost of your outfit, makeup, bachelorette/bachelor party, gift(s) to the brides, etc.
As I am processing this, I just realized that I still have one more semester of school left, and this is where I start PANICKING. How am I going to handle school, whilst helping plan three important weddings? Plus, all these food festivals which I do not want to miss out on. Like how can anyone miss out on poutine festival or taco fest?
Anyways, in December my best friend approached me to ask me if I can plan the bachelorette and bridal shower for her. As a Maid of Honor, I had to say yes. Listen, I love my best friend and I would do anything for her, but this is a busy time for me since I am trying to manage school and work on all these wedding shenanigans.
To make things more complicated, she decided to invite her fiancé and his friends to the bachelorette party. So essentially it would be both a bachelorette and a bachelor party. For anyone who has ever experienced this, they would know how complicated things can get when you add a bunch of guys to the mix.
So, the first thing I did was reach out to my best friend’s sister, Bianca, and created a WhatsApp group with all the bridesmaids, and to inform them that the destination we have chosen is Vegas. Now come the outpouring suggestions and recommendations of where we should stay, and how much our budget should be blah blah.
So, complication #5393458 is that everyone in the group are of different age and have different things going on in their lives. Some were students, some are businesswomen, and some are married and have kids. So, their interests and budgets are entirely different from one another.
Some wanted to spend their money on a luxurious hotel, and some would rather spend their money at pool parties and clubs. Long story short, it took me about 3 months to decide on what hotel we should stay at. Once we finalized the hotel, I decided to get touch with the groom and his best man(s) who were planning the bachelor party and let’s just say they were not happy with the hotel we decided to stay at. At this point I told them I don’t really give a s*** about their opinion and we are going ahead with that hotel.
Tip: Create an excel sheet with a budget breakdown so people can see where their money will be going. For people who are on a tight budget, seeing a number visually will ease the process. Below is an example of how this can look like.
The next headache was coming up with an itinerary. This trip is supposed to be 3 nights and 4 days long (Friday- Monday). For Friday, the bride and groom decided that both the guys and girls should spend it together, GREAT! (rolling my eyes). Now this is where things get really COMPLICATED. I had booked all of the girls for an event where Calvin Harris was performing, and of course the best man(s) had to oppose to it, because the cost of them getting a booth there was “too expensive” (FYI: only $100 difference shared amongst 28 people). So anyways, they decided we should go to a “cheaper” event with a less interesting artist. Ok so they literally ruined our wonderful plan, but we were okay with that.
For that same day we had decided that we will get a private dining room for all the girls and guys as a surprise for both the groom and bride. At this point I had already booked a private chef, and here come along the groom’s men opposing to the idea once again. They wanted to do a $100 USD buffet. Why would anyone spend that much on a buffet? Once again, I agreed to it.
Now that the bachelorette party was somewhat coming together, it was time to plan the bridal shower. Let me tell you, this was not fun at all. The bride told us she wanted us to plan an Aladdin themed bridal shower, and once again she wanted us to surprise her so that meant we had to come up with the guest list, find a venue and a caterer, etc.
As I started planning this, I decided to use a technique I learnt when doing group work in the Master of Marketing program, and that is to DELEGATE! Instead of taking on all the responsibilities and trying to plan every single detail, I decided to come up with a list of duties and assign a task to all the bridesmaids. I simply created a google doc and listed all the responsibilities and put a bunch of names down and shared it with everyone.
Tip: Create a Google Doc and share it with the people who will be participating in the planning process, like the one below.
The planning led all the way to April, which also meant exam time. Since there was only two weeks left till Vegas, this meant CRUNCH time.
Amidst all this, I had to deal with coordinating bridesmaid’s outfits. DO YOU KNOW HOW HARD IT IS TRYING TO GET 13 BRIDESMAIDS to send their correct measurements?! Anyways, once I got the measurements, I decided to order the outfits.
Tip: Ladies and Gents, whenever you are placing a bulk order for clothes, always make sure you get a sample outfit from the designer
The outfits were being made in India. It is a beautiful white skirt and crop top with gold embroidery. The cost of each outfit is $300 CAD, and each bridesmaid has to pay out of her pocket which made it more nerve wracking in terms of getting these outfits down to perfection.
Three weeks later, we received a box with all these outfits, and what happens? NONE OF THEM FIT. I called the designer and yelled at him for sending me the wrong sizes and since these are custom made, none of them are refundable nor returnable. I told the bridesmaids to re-measure themselves so I can find a seamstress to fix all of them, and turns out, they all measured themselves wrong.
Tip: Always find someone professional to get you measured
So, since it was their fault, I told them that it was their responsibility to get their own outfits fixed. Remember guys, always delegate.
Now its exam time, and I am both stressed and excited for Vegas (not really excited for my exams haha). After I finished my exams, it was crunch time for the trip, so this meant buying the decorations for our hotel and custom making our t-shirts and making any last-minute reservations. This also meant hitting the gym every single day in the hopes I would have a 6-pac for my trip.
Amidst all this chaos, I totally forgot to order outfits for my trip. So, I quickly went onto Fashion Nova, which is a famous online store for both men and women. I quickly placed an order in hopes I would get my order in time and hopefully all the outfits would fit. Fast forward a week later (I now only have 6 days left till my trip) I receive my order from Fashion Nova, AND EVERYTHING IS TOO SMALL on me. When I mean I started crying, I mean it! I called my best friend and started crying because nothing fit me and I had spent so much money on these outfits and none of it was refundable, oh and they also sent me 3 of the wrong outfits.
So, at this point my only option was to go to the mall and try to find 3 outfits for a night out, 2 for a pool party and at least 2 for a fancy dinner and lunch. So, I went to at least 3 malls, and FOUND NOTHING!
Did I mention how unnecessarily expensive stores are? I wasn’t going to spend $100 on just one dress. At this point I made a decision to go onto another online store called Pretty Little Thing. I decided to order 4 dresses, confident that they will all fit since I ordered from them before. Since I needed it expediated, I had to pay $20 USD for express shipping. 2 days later, I get my package, and as I’m furiously opening it, I try on my first out and guess what? The dresses are too big. At this point I was not even mad; I was just laughing at myself for even trying.
Tip: Never order dresses from any online shops until reading reviews on both Instagram and on Google. Try to find the exact outfit on the company’s Instagram page and see the reviews for that exact outfit. See what people say about the sizing and quality.
I come downstairs, and my mom asks me “how are the dresses?” I told her that I am just going to end up wearing my old dresses because this whole online ordering business is not working out for me. She took a look at the dresses and said that she can take me to a seamstress and just get them fixed. How genius is my mother… The same day I decide to visit my seamstress and she quotes me $50 just to get them fixed, without hesitation I gave it to her and told her I will pick them up the next day. Anyways, so that whole situation worked out somehow. I went to Post Canada to return all my Fashion Nova dresses. As we know I was already frustrated with their return policy, and then I was told I would have to pay $30 in return shipping, WHEN IT WAS NOT EVEN MY FAULT. I emailed Fashion Nova, and let’s just say I sent a very threatening message to them on both Facebook and email.
Tip: Always send customer service an email about your complaint/ experience. If you do not like their response via email, try contacting them on social media. These companies care about their reputation and the last thing they want is a bad review on their page.
Finally came the day to leave for VEGAS! Our flight departed at 9 p.m. from Toronto, so we decided to go to the airport to sit at the Air Canada Lounge to eat and drink. We then decided to stop by the duty free to pick up some alcohol since everyone who has been to Vegas knows how expensive food and alcohol can be there.
Tip: Never buy alcohol from Vegas, always get it from the airport when departing.
We all finally arrive and set-up our suite with decorations and gifts for all the bridesmaids. And let’s just say after that, the trip was a blur.
After recovering from the trip, now it was time to finalise everything for the bridal shower. This was a breeze since we hired people to decorate the venue and make all the deserts. Below is a picture of the beautiful Aladdin cake.
Today is May 26th, 2019, and within the next 3 weeks it is both my cousins and my other best friend’s bridal showers and bachelorette parties. (WISH ME LUCK)!

Negan had been waiting for this exact moment for weeks but when he saw that ring on the last supply run, he knew it was time to make it official, for you to become his wife. So today, he had left you a note saying he was out on a run, when in reality, he was setting the stage for a perfect night in the place where the two of you magically fell for one another.
"Hey Simon have you and these ass-hats finished setting up the RV yet?” Negan asked Simon as he drove up to the place you two first met.
Simon was finishing up his lunch when he turned to Negan and yelled, “Shit, I knew there was a thing called a bridezilla but I think it is safe to say you have officially turned into a GROOM-zilla!” Simon murmured and the men near by laughed.
"Well she has to fuckin' say yes first Si!" Negan snapped. Everyone froze at the man's tone. After a moment of awkward silence Negan apologized, "Sorry it just needs to be perfect because this is the first time since..."
Just before Negan could show the men any more weakness Simon quickly interrupted Negan and chuckled, "Well shit no need to get all emotional and just to let you know BOSS, of course it is ready what do you think we’ve been doing all goddamn morning! Here I’ll give you the grand tour myself.” The others went on about their business as Negan and Simon entered the heavily decorated RV.
Negan’s was shocked what these men were able to do. There was a table set for two with twinkling lights displayed along the walls. They even manage to find some roses and placed the petals down the mini hallway and arranged a heart on the bed. Negan was so excited he gave Simon a giant hug.
“I was gonna ask you what’cha think old man? But I think it’s safe to say,you think it’s fuckin great!” Simon said to Negan while slapping his back.
“This looks fan-fuckin’- tastic Si! Shit,if we hadn’t work together at the high school. I would have thought you were a fuckin’ wedding planner or some shit!”
“Home economics was my best class.” Simon proclaimed then asked,”Where is that girl of yours anyways? Isn’t she done teaching?”
Negan smirked at his question, “Well I told her I was going on a supply run. But I should get back to the room soon or she’ll start to get suspicious.” Negan ran to his truck and headed for the hotel, headed toward you!
It felt like eternity but you had finally arrived back at the hotel. With your mind still continuously playing your recent conversation with Brody , you noticed your reflection in the glass and before entering the lobby you wiped away the last of your tears. “Breathe (y/n)...no need to freak anyone else out...” You thought to yourself. As you scanned the lobby you finally came across Tiffany, coming down the hall. Even though you didn’t care much for her (due to her obsession with Negan) you put on your fakest smile and asked her, “Hey, do you happen to know if Negan is back?”
She looked at you as if you were a servant in her castle when she finally repiled, “Well to be honest sweetie, if I were him and I lived with you I would never come back...but unfortunately nope... haven’t seen that fine ass in awhile.” She grinned at the thought of Negan.
Now, in your past life you would have just slapped the living shit out of Tiffany for her comment but there were more important things to take care of right now. So you nodded your head sarcastically and replied, “Well shit Tif, I'll make sure to take a picture of Negan's sexy NAKED ass when it is in my bed later tonight. That's what friends are for right?” Then as you slowly turned around to walk away, you heard Tiffany whisper “cunt!”
You turned around and looked at her and sarcastically gasped, "Oh, sorry I didn't get that, what did you say?"
Tiffany stumbled on her words,as if she was never challenged by another female in her life then stated, “Oh nothing... Have a nice day!”
"You too Tiffany, you too!" you grinned.
As you were walking out the door you ran into Mandy and her dad walking in. Almost instantly when Mandy realized it was you she embraced you in a hug and asked, “Did you happen to find Dash?”
“Why don’t you see for yourself.” You swung off your backpack and inside Mandy saw the sleeping pup. “You fff-oundd him! I knew I...I..I could count on you! Thank you miss (y/n).” Mandy reached for Dash and the puppy welcomed her with sloppy kisses all over her face. Mandy’s dad thanked you and you continued on in your hopes of finding Negan before it was too late.
As you entered the room you smiled with relief because you saw Negan half dressed looking for a clean shirt. You snuck up behind him and whispered in his ear, "Hey there handsome." while hugging him and gently kissed the back of his neck.
"Hot damn why, hello to you to princess, if you would have arrived a little earlier we could have saved some water and showered together." Negan proclaimed while grabbing your ass.
"What's the rush, you got a hot date later?" you playfully grinned at the older man.
"Hell yeah and if I'm late..." Negan bent down to give you a real kiss, "She might leave because she "supposedly" doesn't need a tall, handsome, sexy-ass looking man on her ass all the time like me." Negan grinned and wrapped you up in a manly bear hug then continued to say, "but there is still time for her to take a shower." You nudge Negan and quickly ran to the bathroom to freshen up for your date with not only your Knight in shining armor, but also your best friend.
After a few minutes you were done and looking for something to wear, so you stared at Negan trying to guess where this date might be and what you should wear. He was wearing his "nice jeans" and a collared shirt, which you've never seen, "is that a new shirt?" you asked Negan.
"Why yes it is and I found something for you too." Negan grabbed something from the closet and reviled to you a nice lilac colored laced dress. Your mouth dropped in disbelief. "So does this mean you like it?" Negan asked.
"I absolutely love it Negan! Where did you find it?"
"I found it a couple weeks ago on a supply run in what looked like a small boutique and its also where I found my shirt." He boyishly grinned at you. You took the dress and put it on in the bathroom, once you had it on you opened the door waiting for Negan's reaction. "So, how does it look?" You asked the shocked man while spinning around.
"You..you.. look fuckin' incredible darlin'!" Negan gave you a squeezed and a sweet kiss on the head then asked, "Are you ready to go on this hot date of ours?"
"Yeah, I just need to get something from my bag. I'll meet you by the car. " You told Negan and he started heading out the door. As you rush over to your bag to search for your chap stick all the events from earlier today came rushing back into your mind. You were so caught up in this fantasyland with only you and Negan that you completely forgot that the community was endanger. But, Negan and the saviors were prepared for something like this so you grabbed your chap stick and ran out to Negan's truck praying while you two were gone everyone else will stay safe.
You and Negan finally arrived to your destination which looked like your RV but something was different it was all decorated and fancy looking. So you asked, "Negan what's going on here because this looks like my family's RV but it is heavily decorated with roses and candles."
"Trust me darlin' it's about time I took you on a real ass date." Negan grabbed your hand leading you into the RV. When he opened the door it was as if you were watching one of those prom-posal videos on the internet. There were twinkling lights with rose petals covering the floors the whole bit. You smiled and jokingly asked, "Are you asking me to prom mister because someone forgot to..." before you could finish your smart ass remark Negan was down on one knee with a small velvet box in his hand.
Before you knew it tears started to fill your eyes when Negan started to say, "(y/n) when this world went to shit I felt like nothing good would ever come from this but to my fuckin' surprise it did it was the day I meet you. You are not only my hot ass lover but you are also my best friend... someone I truly admire and want to do life with, well whatever kind of life this is... but even if the world hadn't gone to shit, I honestly believe we would have meet in the old world because what we have here between us is fate and we were simply meant to be. So (y/n) will you marry me?"
You couldn't speak so you nodded yes and Negan slipped the diamond on your finger and kissed you for what felt like forever. "Let me guess you found the ring at the boutique as well?" you chuckled.
"Yep, did I forget to mention this boutique was a wedding boutique?" Negan smirked and continued to say, "Now let's eat so we can make sweet love later!"
As you both sat down and started eating you were happy but your community's safety was still on your mind and Negan must have noticed because he asked you, “Hey (y/n) is everything okay? I promise the spaghetti is fuckin' great I made it myself!"
You smiled at the handsome man's comment debating if this was the right time to tell your soon-to-be husband what happened today, "I know it's just...I have something to tell you and it might ruin our whole night..and I...". Negan grabbed your hand, " What's on your mind darlin' did something happen today? You know you can tell me anything...Did someone do something to you? because I can have them.."
You abruptly kissed Negan to make him shut up you then revealed to him what had happened in woods earlier today. Negan was stunned and started to get angry and said, "How soon (y/n)?"
"I don't know Brody just said soon..." Negan got up from the table and slammed his fist on the wall. "I'm going to kill all those fuckers...ughh!"
You cautiously went to Negan and asked, "Negan, you and the saviors have a plan right? Whatever it is I can help." Negan just shook his head and said, "Yes... but," then suddenly you both heard what sounded like a blast coming from the direction of the hotel. You both ran outside and noticed flames coming from the same direction. You started to panic when Negan demanded you to stay at the RV and wait for him to come back for you. You responded. "Hell no that is my community too Negan I am coming!"
Negan went back to his truck grabbed a radio and then scooped you off your feet going back into the RV. Once Negan placed you on the bed he said, "NO you are safer here... and I can't loose you... you mean everything to me (y/n)!" It was one of the few times you saw Negan get emotional. And you knew he was serious, so you hugged him and said, "Fine... but you need to come back to me too, Negan... even if the community doesn't survive promise me you will come back because I may mean the world to you but you also mean the world to me!" you both kissed one another like it might be your last. Then Negan gave you the radio and instructed you if they start to head this way leave and he would be able to contact you by the radio.
He then hurriedly rushed to his truck gave you one last kiss not realizing that it would be your last, then you watched as your knight in shining armor rode off into the night sky.

The Ties That Bind (Part 4/?)
Pairing: Clint X Reader
Summary: Clint makes it his mission to win you over. He succeeds, but you don’t believe in marriage. Can the two of you stay together without the promise of wedding bells in the future? What about when the two of you are forced to go undercover as a married couple?

Clint had been doing all the wedding planning, and that was perfectly fine with you. It was, his wedding, after all, you were just a participant. The funny thing was, was that it seemed like the one with all the nerves was Clint and you were as cool as a cucumber. You’d told him that you would be prepared for a bridezilla, and you were waiting for it.
What you hadn’t been prepared for, was him to make a nest and hide away. Natasha had told you that he had missed a training session with her, and that wasn’t like him. You’d had FRIDAY locate him, and he was in the training room. In the rafters.
“What you doing up there?” You asked, and he shifted ever so slightly. “Are you giving me the silent treatment?” You called up to him, and he turned around. “Fine, I’m coming up there.” You yelled, looking around trying to figure out how to get up into the rafters. You had tried to use the corner to get some leverage, and you just barely managed to grab the rafter. Clint had grabbed your forearm and had helped you up.
“Thanks, babe. So why are we nesting?” You asked as the archer pulled you into his side, draping an arm around you. “I. I’m not gonna lie. I think I’ve got cold feet. And I was the one that wanted this, it doesn’t feel right to have cold feet.” He said, and you chuckled.
“You can have cold feet, this is a big life changing decision. You shouldn’t feel pressured. If you don’t wanna go through with it. We don’t have to do anything. You know I’m committed with or without the fancy clothes, and the toasts.” You said, lacing your fingers together with his. With your other hand, you reached into your hoodie pocket. “You know, you make my heart beat.” You said, handing Clint the beet you had stashed into your pocket.
“Oh my god, you’re so cheesy,” Clint said, and a light bulb flashed in front of you. “But it’s gouda.” You said, with a smirk. Clint just groaned at you. He didn’t say anything, but if there was any space between the two of you, it was now gone. Clint held you tightly against his side, and you let your head rest on his shoulder. You knew your archer well enough that if he needed some quality time, you could just sit here and wait.
“Okay, I think I’m good now.” He said, pressing a kiss into your temple. The alarm sounded then, which meant that the Avengers needed to assemble. You and Clint shared another second together, before separating. You flipped off the rafter, rolling to a standing position. Clint used one of the beams in the room to slide down.
It was a different mission, a follow up to one the rest of the team had been on last week to Sovokia. You were going to Africa in pursuit of Ultron. The mission started out fine, sure you were out numbered but this was the Avengers. Nothing could stop them. The enemy were falling left and right, and you were feeling a little useless because you needed to be close to subdue.
Inside, the base everyone split up to cover more ground. You were covering a long hallway by yourself. It was quiet and seemed to be far too empty. Your suspicions were confirmed when you hear footsteps, and then a beam of red light was being hurled at you. The next thing you knew, you were in a demolished building. It looked like the HYDRA base but it had been reduced to rubble. A beeping noise, from one of Clint’s new tracker arrows, sounded. The sickening feeling that swept over you was almost paralyzing, but you were also headed for the noise without conscious regard.
You turned the corner, the hallway you had been in was mostly intact. The sight before you churned your stomach into knots. The wall had collapsed onto Clint, and his legs were pinned underneath it. His face was all beat up, but it looked familiar. A sense of deja vu nagged at you until you realized this was Vega’s face. The Archer looked up at you.
“(Y/N), we should have retired. I’m dead now, and it’s all your fault. But I told you, you’re never gonna get rid of me. Not even zombie me.” It was forced and rasped. But it did the job, it was what you feared most. You were dependent on Clint, and your world would end without him. You startled back to reality, heart pounding inside your chest, gasping for air. Your comms were a hot mess of different voices all shrieking different comments, and orders.
Your (E/C) eyes swept along the hallway you were in, nothing was disturbed. You heard an order wash over the chaos of the comms, fallback. With your nerves rattled, and the base sounding empty, you didn’t have to be told twice. You retraced your steps back to the quinjet, where it looked like you got off easy. You were the last one back, but besides your mental scars, you were unscathed. The others were not as lucky.
You swept over the faces trying to find Clint, heart rate spiking when you couldn’t find him. That is until you realized he was currently holding down the pilot’s seat in the plane. No one made eye contact, no one spoke. It seemed that everyone was waging an internal war against their own demons. You’d taken a seat as close as you could get to Clint. He would steal glances at you, blue eyes wide with concern.
Clint had landed the quinjet in a clearing outside of one of the old SHIELD safehouses. It was surprising that the inside of the house wasn’t all that dusty. It had been at least a year since you had used it, and you hadn’t heard of anyone else taking residence in it. Being more in the mood to avoid your issues, than you were actually curious, you checked the fridge. It wasn’t empty.
“Didn’t realize I had company. You’re going to need security badges.” A dry voice said from the top of the basement stairs. You turned to face the ex-SHIELD agent. “Sam?” You question, wondering which brother this was. You thought it was Sam, but you weren’t fully convinced. Until the man nodded.
“Hey, Sam. We need some time to regroup, maybe some Avengers trust building exercises. Didn’t realize you’d taken up residence here.” You couldn’t tell if Clint was joking, or if he was being serious right now. You chose to ignore that and looked back to Sam.
“Can we get those badges, I want to go take a shower.” You said, you wanted to wash away the battle, and hopefully the feeling of having someone able to manipulate your mind. Sam gestured for you all to follow as he descended the stairs into the basement.
“I’ve done some upgrades to the safehouse. The upstairs is mostly untouched, so you can still take the rooms you had last. Your badges will scan you in, the only reason you made it into the house is because the power went out. I’m going to need your handprints as well.” Sam was always one for protocol, and you rolled your eyes. Stepping forward, you placed your hand on the scanner for it to go into the system. Then Sam took a picture and printed your security badge.
You’d bounded up the stairs, heading for the room you’d claimed as your own the last time you had been to this safehouse. You scanned the card to get into the room and were met with a blast from the past. It looked exactly the same as it had four years ago. You had been on a mission with Nat at the time and had needed to shelter before SHIELD could pick the two of you up. You’d left some clothes in the drawers, but the room was still as ugly as ever.
A beeping alerted you to the door unlocking, and you turned as Clint entered the room. “How’d you talk the robot into giving you access?” You asked, and he shrugged at you. The next thing you were aware of was the two of you sharing an embrace. Your hand had found its way to rest on Clint’s unharmed cheek. You weren’t sure who had closed the distance, and it didn’t matter.
“You know, I’m not the biggest fan of mind control.” He said, and you couldn’t help the snort of laughter that escaped you. You had been away on a mission during the Battle Of New York and hadn’t been informed about it until well after. Needless to say, you were quite proud of Jane after Thor had informed the team that she had punched Loki in the face.
“I think I’m ready to seriously consider retirement.” You said, and Clint pulled back to look at your face. “Okay, I know what I said. But, we’re human as hell. And I don’t think I can take much more of this thinking I’m gonna lose you stuff, and I could be like a personal trainer or teach self-defense classes. I mean I have the physique of an ethereal being after all.” You hadn’t been able to stop the words once you had started, and you had just let the words rush out. But you still wanted to make light of the situation.
“Is that what you saw?” He asked, hooking a hand under your chin. His ice blue eyes were scanning your face, trying to read you. You wanted to tell him what you’d seen, but you weren’t sure you’d be able to get through it. You were sure the only reason why you were still standing right now was because of Clint’s arms.
“It was Vega’s face. You were, you had used the tracking arrow. The base had collapsed. You were pinned, you were gone. Then you were. Zombie, you was saying how we should have retired, but that I’d never. That you had promised.” It was worse than you thought it would be. Your stomach had folded in on itself, your legs were jello, and your throat felt like it was closing in. Clint had pulled you into him and had been rubbing your back soothingly.
“Hey, hey. Stop it. I’m right here. I’m fine. We’re all fine. Let’s not go making any rash decision here. You’d make a great self-defense instructor or a personal trainer, but you love this line of work. Even if Tony does make you a cover like Hayden’s.” He was trying to lighten the mood and had earned a small choked chuckle from you. He pressed a kiss into the top of your head. “I love you, you know that right?” It was a rare moment for the two of you to speak so plainly, and you could count on one hand the number of times Clint had said those three words. Hell, you could count on one hand the number of times the both of you had said it. Assassins didn’t like to be vulnerable, but that was exactly what a relationship was supposed to do.
“It’s cause I’m awesome.” You quip at him. “But, I love you too.” You give him a quick peck on the lips and make for the bathroom. The temptation of the steamy hot water, making you aware of the ache in your muscles from the almost nonexistent fight you were in today.
