But. Why. Is. The Irene dimension. A CHURCH for IRENE HERSELF???

Irene is literally the only person who goes to there so why have a million seats in the chapel dedicated to yourself??

The ideas I currently thought of areee:

Irene found places like that quite soothing as they were typically quiet since everyone was busy praying to her

The dimension was at one time an actual church to Irene before she sent it to this dimension (that wouldn't have any negative consequences. None once so ever.)

Irene is egoistical.

Similarly to Aphmau praying to Irene in MCD season 1, Irene would sometimes pray to a stronger version of herself while in her dimension. Since the world idolized her so much, the strong and stoic persona she became for them started to seem separate from herself who couldn't even keep her love life together and so she prayed to it, like those around her did when they felt weak. She prays to the concept of Irene. (Why yes! I do have a favorite headcanon!)

She needed a place with strong ties to magicks or something to make a dimension, where was better than a church where people would worship and pray to a god-like lady

Vitalasubzam Week 2024 1st day: Flowers / Symbolism

since this day is about flowers and symbolism ofc i went with hanahaki

notes:

dandelions indicating zam is p obvious -- after all thats what the guy uses himself -- but the fact that they, or more specifically their seeds, are tied to wish-granting adds a neat layer to it i think considering zam's symbol of being a star (in my interpretation) also ties in to wish-granting

this whole thing is based on zam going "subz can fix me," and while i didnt know how to portray it without making an entire comic which i didnt really wanna do, he actually doesnt want the flowers gone he just wants subz to stitch not just his chest close but also his mouth

i was originally gonna make the thread purple but decided to go with green

the x's, while supposed to be tied to the whole stitching theme going on, are red instead of green because of zam

i had trouble picking the bg color cause on one hand i wanted to make it dark but on the other hand i wanted the focus on subz despite the composition which would need a lighter color, in the end i chose the same white as zam's shirt cause i like that it made him look cut off

zam has no nipples cause his species (skyformes) are homunculi in my Minecraft LoreTM (he should also have way more scars than just his neck but i havent decided where to put them yet)

this was actually drawn right when i changed zam's design to have red teeth but it made making the dandelion seeds visible a nightmare so i decided to just keep them white in this drawing

In an interview, Craig Sweeny, the creator of Watson said that Irene Adler was canonically Holmes’ only lover

False. They were never lovers.

She was The Woman because she outwitted him.

(Twice really. Not only did she replace the photograph, but she and her husband fled London without his notice. And she even wished him "good night" before she left and Holmes didn't realize/notice until she informed him via letter.)

And, while Irene is the only woman to have outwitted Holmes, she is not the only one to have impressed him with her intelligence (see: Violet Hunter).

(Honestly, Violet is the one Watson speculates Holmes might be attracted to and is disappointed later when he isn't).

Anyway. I feel sorry for Irene Norton née Adler. She married a man she loved, but everyone groups her with a man she had no interest in. (The "my dear" and "very truly yours" feel more like taunts or teases than any kind of affection; like, we do understand what sarcasm is, yes?)

(Also, can we talk about how Irene canonically crossdresses frequently and enjoys the freedom it grants her in public?)

Some Queen's Thief bullshit

The fact that only Irene ever remarks on the scent Nahuseresh's beard oil*, and more importantly, calls it cheap, has always been of interest for me, because it feels so out of character for Nahuseresh to save money on this one thing he clearly cares about. The fact that neither Gen nor Kamet ever remark on it either also gets me all in my

thoughts.

Anyway, there are many possible explanations. Kamet repeats so often that Attolia stinks, that one might think the olfactory landscape of each country is just different enough to produce two very different standards. Maybe coastal Attolians like the salty breeze and Kamet, city boy extreme, thinks it smells like fish; maybe Nahuseresh's scented oil is in the same position...& maybe Gen has a cosmopolitan nose, and appreciates it all?

You can go a little more psychological if you want. Nahuseresh's scented oil triggers for Irene the memory of that amphora she broke as a child; she goes on to say that after that she became the Heir, and was given more expensive scented oils to use. Maybe Nahuseresh's scented beard oil is too close to the cheaper scent she associates so strongly with that symbolic, troubling memory...

CHEAP though! My actual favorite theory is a little simpler: his beard oil has a scent that is rare and precious in the court of Ianna-Ir... but rather commonplace in Attolia :o He notes nobody in court is wearing that fragrance and doubles down thinking he's so exclusive and posh....in an AU where Nahuseresh secures power in Attolia, he becomes very rich very fast by exporting it...

*Sophos makes a similar complaint to Eddis about Akretenesh's oil scent, so everything in this post could apply to him as well

Hear me out: reversing the villain tropes. Stone cold female villains that don't care about love (whether or not they love is another matter), that are ready to give up anything they love for their goals. And intense, burning male villains that would do absolutely anything out of love Give me female Light Yagami and male Misa Amane. Give us back the original Irene Adler and how she was the cold, calculated genius who won over Sherlock Holmes -and how it was never about love. Give us a man ready to do anything to serve, help, avenge, follow the woman he loves, even if she doesn't want him to. And please, please, give us other kinds of love -a parent becoming a monster to protect their child, a brother with a possessive/protective attachment to their sibling, a friend that takes loyalty to a horrifying point, a child growing into something horrible in hopes to be fed scraps of a parent's love and affection. Please.
