"You have an issue with how guys act today? then just GIVE THEM THEIR FRIENDS BACK" yes I love it, agree with it, and I also love your tags 😂
Ah, yeah, went on a little bitof a tag rant there. Oops - I didn’t actually mean to do that. Butonce I got to talking about it … well, it’s a topic I’m ratherpassionate about. Let guys be bros again! Let guys do silly guythings, without attacking them for … what, being guys? How is thatfair? Boys are precious, I don’t care what anyone says - just stopbreathing down their necks, stop villainizing them or forcing labelson them. Give them a little room to breathe and just do their ownthing, have their friends and be affectionate with them withoutfeeling the need to clarify or justify or pretend or peek over theirshoulder to make sure no one is looking. It makes me so sad, thatthis is what men feel they have to do. That they’re not allowed tojust have friends, care deeply about their friends, enjoy their friends. It’s so unhealthy? It’s so isolating?Like, that’s so achingly, ridiculously lonely? When they exhibit problematic behaviors, men are absolutely responsible for their own choices - that being said, society could help a ton, and put a stop to a lot of issues, by not crammingthis kind of a toxic mindset down the throats of men at every turn. Thismindset that shames and pressures them into shying away from love andaffirmation and compassion, to neither accept nor express a perfectlynatural - and even necessary - type of love to other men in theirlives, and instead bottle everything up until it festers and causes awhole mess of problems for everyone. This idea that they’re onlycapable of loving one (1) person, romantically, and that’s it.That’s the end of the line. I just hate it, and myheart goes out to these poor guys (as they get what I’m going tocall, for lack of a better term, the “gay treatment” far more often than girls).
And I think it stems from this idea that romantic love is somehowthe superior love. If there’s someone in your lifethat you love uniquely and passionately, then obviously ithas to be romantic love because friendships can’t reach the heightsthat romantic love can. And on the one hand, I cankind of understand where that thought process comes from, because romantic lovebuilds families, romantic love is exclusive and special, I’m notdenying that. But it’s not superior to friendshipsor familial love. It’s different - that’s all. I think that thisis the point that a lot of people, who look at two men who deeplycare for each other and immediately cry “gay!” misscompletely. I’m going to say it one more time, just to hit thepoint home: romantic love is different - but not superior- to other kinds of love. My sister can talk to me, can doactivities with me, can express herself with me in a way that shecan’t with her husband. My sister’s love for me and ourrelationship is very different, but in no manner inferior, to herlove for and relationship with her husband. That’s just absurd.
Or maybe this mindset also comes from the idea that love betweenfriends is too generic. “X has good friends that he loves verydeeply, sure, but Y is special to him, even amonghis friends, and thus must fall under theexclusivity of romantic love.” Because friendship is,apparently, boring. A person is capable of having multiple friendships at once, and therefore you are unable of caring for any one of them uniquely. Since a man can have more than onefriendship, his relationship with this particular individual is nolonger unique or special if they’re“just friends” (ugh - as if there’s anything just aboutfriendship). But … that’s a problem solved if they’re in love! If they’re in love, then their relationship is special! It’s an equally absurd mindset as romantic superiority, but I think it’s one that people do fall victim to, and is a key factor in the “gay treatment” for male friendships. This idea that friendships are cookie cutter, one-size-fits-all relationships that blanket all friends together, instead of unique, personalized connections full of pain and laughter and growth, with inside jokes and strengths and weaknesses and support and arguments and apologies and secrets shared like priceless gifts between just these two individuals, which differ vastly between person to person - it’s laughable, really. It’s also very problematic and needs to die a swift death. Harry’s relationship with Ron is different than his relationship with Hermione - there’s nothing bland or simple about either of their relationships, even though they are both ”just friends.” Tony has a different relationship with Steve than with Rhodey than with Peter, to name just a few - friendships are just as unique, beautiful and powerful among each other, as romantic relationships are among friendships.
And it’s not my intention to attack ships or shippers, just this dreadful mindset. Please stop sabotaging and undermining male friendships. They’re so important and wonderful. If people would just start valuing friendships again, I think we would see a world of difference in the way we view life, and people, and in all of our relationships.

15 Questions, 15 Mutuals
Thanks for tagging me, @notatypicaldimension!
1) Are you named for anyone? - No, though my dad did want to call me Becky, like Becky Thatcher from Tom Sawyer, but I wasn’t named for anyone.
2) When was the last time you cried? - I think yesterday? I was working on my a story (plotting it out, not even writing it properly) and I got to an emotional bit and I cried a bit.
3) Do you have any kids? - No, no kids.
4) Do you use sarcasm a lot? - This one is a definite “yes.”
5) What’s the first thing you notice about people? - This one is a little tricky, but I think I’m going to say that the fist thing I notice is how genuine they are, I guess. How real their smile is, how genuinely interested they seem to be - or even blunt honesty about how they don’t want to be there or are in a poor mood, or whatever. So I guess honesty is the first thing I look for. I don’t know if that’s weird.
6) What’s your eye color? - Blue/gray.
7) Scary movie or happy ending? - Happy ending, no question (not that I mind scary movies per say, but if given the choice I’ll pick happy ending nearly every time).
8) Any special talents? - I’m somewhat musically gifted - my voice is decent, and I can pick up different instruments pretty easily.
9) Where were you born? - Just here in the Mitten, nothing exciting.
10) What are your hobbies? - Reading and writing, obviously, and I watch a fair bit of TV/movies; what can I say? Storytelling is a passion of mine. I also enjoy music and art (and does obsessively analyzing of all forms of media count as a hobby? because I do quite a bit of that, too).
11) Do you have any pets? - Yep, two cats and two dogs.
12) What sports do/have you played? - Sports. Um, yeah, I don’t really do sports. At all.
13) How tall are you? - It’s been years since I’ve measured, but I think around 5′4″/5′5″.
14) Favorite subject in school? - Math; weird as it sounds, I actually enjoy math, and every now and then I get the urge to hunt down Algebra problems and work through them, just for fun.
15) Dream job? - A novelist. Beyond that, well, I’m still trying to figure that out myself!
And I know I’m supposed to tag 15 mutuals, but I’m shy so I’m going to cheat and just tag anyone who wants to play. I know it might feel kinda awkward, but if you want to do this, seriously, just name me as the blog who tagged you and I’ll go check out your post!

ravenclaw, even though I'm only midly knowledgeable about HP houses!
Ravenclaw seems to be the consensus. I guess I come across as very bookish and smart - whether or not I deserve it, I suppose it’s a label I can live with ;)

Thank you so much! Did you know that you’re honestly one of my favorite people ever - you’re always so kind and thoughtful, and such a warm, compassionate presence to be around. ilysm
(Incidentally, I am having a good Thursday - everything’s closed down so I got to sleep in and relax, and I also braved the cold to go visit my sister, so I’d say that this has all the makings of a good day.)

Thanks for tagging me, @notatypicaldimension!
Rules: Tag nine people with excellent taste.
Colours I’m currently wearing: Navy blue, burgundy and light grey.
Last band t-shirt I bought: I don’t think I’ve ever actually bought a band t-shirt before.
Last band I saw live: The only music group I’ve ever seen live is The Piano Guys, so if they count as a band, then there’s that.
Lipstick of chapstick: Chapstick, always.
Last movie I watched: Howl’s Moving Castle.
Last 3 TV shows I watched: Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir, Fullmetal Alchemist & Arrow.
Last 3 Characters I identified with: Hm, this one is a little tricky. Maybe Howl Jenkins Pendragon (Howl’s Moving Castle - all he wants is to be dramatic and hide from his responsibilities, and if that isn’t a MoodTM I don’t know what is); Elijah Baley (Asimov’s Robot series - he constantly sways between “Wow, this world is large and amazing and I have so much to learn,” and “This world is ridiculous and I’m done”); and Maria Ross (Fullmetal Alchemist - she gives off high levels of, “I don’t care how powerful they are, they are CHILDREN and must be PROTECTED,” energy, which is so me it’s not even funny.)
Books I’m currently reading: The Naked Sun by Isaac Asimov.
I’m always a little shy about tagging, so I’m going to cheat and simply tag anyone who wants to do this - please, feel free to consider yourself tagged by me, and I’ll go read your post!

reminder that I care about you and hope you're going to have a great weekend!! Also that summer isn't totally killing you over there. xx
Thank you so much for this. It’s easy for me to get wrapped up in my own head and start doubting whether people actually care about me, so reminders like this are super encouraging!

Thanks for tagging me, @notatypicaldimension! You’re the best.
Rules: Tag people with awesome taste
Colours I’m currently wearing: Plaid. So, blue and yellow and grey and white.
Last band shirt you bought: I’ve never bought a band shirt before - which is sad on the one hand, but on the other, band shirts are expensive!
Last band I saw live: The only music group I’ve ever seen live is The Piano Guys. But do they count as a “band”, strictly speaking? Anyway, they were great.
Lipstick or Chapstick: Chapstick, definitely.
Last Song I Listened To: “Lost and Found” by A Rocket to the Moon (beautiful song, btw).
Last movie I watched: Penelope (I was in a chick-flick mood).
Last 3 TV shows I watched: I think they were Deathnote, Merlin and (hides face in shame) The Vampire Diaries. It’s a guilty pleasure show that I’m watching with my sisters.
Book(s) I’m Currently Reading: The Restaurant at the End of the Universe by Douglas Adams, as well as Robota by Orson Scott Card and Doug Chiang.
I tag: I don’t really know many people here, but I’ll tag @mynameis-notholly and @lovejesusarrowavengersblog if either of you want to do this!

Hi, I've literally only just started following you, but I'm particularly drawn to the way your seem to observe and analyze things through, idk I can relate to that "intensity" constantly in my mind and uncensored speech/reflections/opinions.
Someone who understands! God bless your existence.
I mean, on the one hand, that intensity is kind of cool - I can get super invested into and passionate about things, and when I delve into it everything just gets so nuanced and deep, you know? It’s fun! But then, on the other hand, sometimes it gets exhausting, because everything attracts my attention and I am incapable of getting casually invested into things.
Thanks for leaving this in my inbox - and seriously, if you ever need to analyze/rant/theorize/whatever about anything at all, feel free to come to me. I would honestly love that!
(Also, your URL is awesome - just thought you should know.)

Idk if this is ok to ask but what general area do you live in? Also, idk if you're into mbti (I'm stealing Kate's move oops), but what's your type, if so? I'm curious aha.
Oh my gosh - I am so, so sorry about how late I’m getting this out. I feel terrible saying that I forgot about it, because I was super excited to get this ask in particular! But then exams came up, and two papers and … yeah. I forgot about it. I’m so sorry!
For the record, yes, it’s totally okay to ask me that (it’s okay to ask me anything). To answer your question, I live in the Detroit suburbs. City Girl, born and bread, but a Country Girl at heart. It was actually pretty fun living in the Detroit area when I was about ten/twelve, because back then Detroit was most popularly known as the Murder Capital of the Country. So when I would travel out-of-state to visit family and told strangers that I lived “just outside Detroit,” their eyes would get all wide and they’d say, “Really?” in this semi-hushed and kind of awed voice. And for about sixty seconds I would get to feel cool and tough, even though I was (and still am) about as tough as a bag of marshmallows.
As for my Meyer Brigg’s personality type, I took the test and got INFP-A, “The Mediator.” I was reading through the analysis, and it’s crazy how accurately they got me. Yikes! I’d never really thought much about mbti before, but now you can be sure I’ll be digging into it, finding out everything I can.
The only things I really found to be not-quite-me was the constant insistence that INFP’s are “idealists.” I’ve never been called an “idealist” before in my life. “Realist,” often. “Pessimist,” occasionally. “Idealist?” Never. My sister is an idealist, and she often gets sour and put-out with me for putting a damper on her perfect, rose-tinted plans. I’m a dreamer, yes, but even more than that I’m a girl who loves facts. No matter how gritty or unpleasant they are.
Thank you so much for this ask. I enjoyed it a ton! Also, thanks for the nudge toward mbti, which I’m going to have so much fun analyzing!

A, F, G, H, X
A - Author You’ve Read The Most Books From: Erin Hunter, who wrote the Warriors series’. Six books per series and I’ve read four of them, plus the five or six exclusive books she wrote for that world. Those books were my childhood.
F - Fictional Character You Would Have Dated In High School: Hands down, Percy Jackson from the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. He’s a cute, awkward dork who likes pizza and dogs and camping and, like, going to the aquarium or the theater for fun. Plus, he adores his mom. What’s not to like?
And he’s such a sweetheart. I seriously love Percy.
G - Glad You Gave This Book A Chance: I’m going with The Host by Stephenie Meyer. And yes: I was very leery of this book, just because it was written by the author of That Series. But I gave it a shot, and I’m awfully glad I did - I’ve reread it several times since, and it never fails to have me sobbing my eyes out. The Host is well-crafted, delightfully introspective, has an intriguing plot and boasts a colorful and interesting cast of characters.
H - Hidden Gem Book: This delightful little book titled Ella Minnow Pea, written by Mark Dunn. You should absolutely read this book if you ever get the chance. This book is like a love letter to Words. Words, sentences, prose, similes and metaphors and poetry and everything. Both “good” and “bad” writing. It revels in the well-structured sentence and flowery prose, and then in the next breath kicks its shoes off to go splashing around in bad puns and phonetically spelled words. And the story itself is just so fun and quirky!
X - Marks The Spot (Start On Your Bookshelf And Count to the 27th Book): A book I have never read: The Taking by Dean Koontz.
Thanks for the asks!

hope you've had a nice day and it's rained recently over where you are : 3
Aw, thank you so much! I appreciate that a ton. I did have a great day yesterday; a missionary came and spoke during service and he was so good. Also, my sister and brother-in-law came over, so that was fun!
And yes, it did rain recently - I went outside during the storm and got soaked and it took me forever to warm up again afterwords. It was totally worth it :)

Thanks for tagging me, @notatypicaldimension!
ONE insecurity:
I tend to get insecure about how difficult it is for me to make real friends (since I’m so reserved and have low-key social anxiety). I sometimes worry if there’s something wrong with me, and I have to fight with myself on this.
TWO fears:
I’m afraid that my difficulty making connections might lead to a very lonely life.
I’m afraid of centipedes (what can I say? They’re gross-looking and they freak me out).
THREE “turn-ons”:
Boys who really respect their mothers.
Boys who are capable of laughing at themselves, and don’t take their pride too seriously.
Boys that challenge themselves, and are constantly pushing themselves to learn (whether this is skill sets, intellectual knowledge, new talents, new ways of looking at things, whatever).
FOUR life goals:
To one day write novels.
To become a girl who is so wrapped up in God that I can’t help but see the world like He does.
To travel, even across the US, and just experience different ways of life. Expand my horizons a bit, and make a few memories along the way.
To become skilled on the guitar (I can pick out a tune and I know some basic chords, but I want to learn how to really play).
FIVE things I like:
Painting my toenails.
Cherry blossom trees.
Messy buns and leg warmers.
Movie marathons (with snacks and fuzzy blankets, of course).
Houses decorated for Christmas.
SIX weaknesses:
Leather journals with magnetic clasps.
Re-tellings of fairy tales (and just fairy tales in general).
Old cemeteries with lots of elaborate headstones.
High School Musical songs (because those movies were my childhood).
Going barefoot.
Ruins, particularly when ivy has grown over them.
SEVEN things I love:
My family.
Rainy days.
A well-crafted story; the type that makes you feel full inside after you’ve read/listened to/watched it, the type you can analyze for weeks afterward.
Beaches.
The sound of small-child laughter.
Animals, any at all.
The way you feel when someone you really care about hugs you super tight.
Tag EIGHT people:
Umm, I’m not sure that I really know eight people on tumblr. But if anyone wants to do this please consider yourself tagged by me, and I’ll go check out your post!
